I havent played it since launch week.

On topic- Still loving it. Play a few hours a night, exploring and farming. Just dinged 70 last night, can’t wait for 80.

Favorite? WvW and exploration.

Worst? The ’hardcore’ whiners.

In all seriousness, this game beats all other mmo’s I’ve ever played simply because there is no gear grind for end game. WvW is why I bought the game. At 80, everyone has the same stats, so I don’t feel obligated to grind for gear just to compete. Thankyou Anet.

I’m in the same boat. played quite a few MMO’s that featured PVP and not one have I played has an even playing field. It’s either grind your kitten off to keep up, or get stomped. Not even remotely fun.

I’ve been on top before. I used to also twink. one of the biggest things that drew me to twinking in any game… was the lack of grinding. You get the gear you need and you’re permanently a god/godess in your bracket. However, that being said.. it gets old and boring after a while. I like WvW here.. where I can jump in from level 1 and enjoy myself. Where although being level 80 and exotics gives an edge over newer players.. it’s not so much though that the newer player has no hope of winning if they play smart.

This is my sort of pvp game.

in guild wars 2 you cant be anywhere near challenging when you make a pvp video of you in a battle ground people well just say(oh well this class is OP) not even for a second saying oh well this guy is skilled.

Haha yeah, I thought about that afterwards. I always love finding ‘jump-arounds’ to puzzles. Yes, there’s a chain one level above that. There’s a vet dredge guarding it, once you beat him, you pull the chain behind him to open the gate. (It’s a timed gate, so it closes after a few minutes).

I think mine happened in Lornar’s Pass or perhaps dredgehaunt cliffs. (I forget). Anyway there was a vista spot that was purely a jumping puzzle. (Had cool mechanics like having to pull a chain to open a gate, a few vets etc).

Anyhow, after climbing two towers in this dredge cavern, I finally got to the top and saw the vista. I thought the jump wasn’t too hard, so i went for it. No dice. I plummeted to my death, after realizing that the jump wasn’t even possible. Thankfully this nice Norn woman came along and gave me a little rez.

After this, the two of us stormed off to find the right tower. We must have been at it for like 30 mins, fighting everything up the final tower, hitting a dead end until we realized that the pull chain actually unlocked a gate to the next area. There we were, we could see the vista in view.. when all of a sudden, mid fight, she used some sort of dash move. (I believe she was an ele)... Off the tower she went, to her death. >_<

While it sucked, after doing all of that work, I laughed like a little school girl, facepalm included. probably the most amusing thing I’ve seen so far. I did wait for her to return and helped her to the last part, killing the chest guarding vet. Was a fun time all in all.

@Doc HAHA! i did the same thing my first time in WvW... My stealth abilities were on cooldown, and I had a guardian and a mesmer on top of me. I ran and jumped off a cliff and the mesmer followed. xD Never think people would actually follow off a cliff...

sPVP has four maps, one game mode, and is unbalanced class wise – unplayable after a short while!

WvW has very long queue times so out goes any casual players almost immediately, people don’t want to wait around for hours. Again WvW has no meaning, besides going around in huge groups, or “zerging” as it’s referred to, just all very repetitive, and can be very laggy too!

Dungeons you have to stand around shouting out in map chat to attempt to find a group to begin with, nothing more needed to say on that matter.

World Boss encounter? Ok do that once, job done.

Achievements, I mean really, why? It’s a virtual number going up with no relevance. Nobody can see them, they serve no purpose, so just why?!

Maxing crafting levels serves no purpose what so ever either, the main reason for the majority are so you can craft exotic gear…which you can just purchase a full set for between 10-20 gold from the trading post. Certainly doesn’t take long.

To sum it up, this game doesn’t have a carrot on a stick, nor does it have any replayability or any fun factor once level 80 has been reached, thus other games with a “carrot on a stick” per say, will probably be more suited to other people, and maybe more fun too! Thanks.

Stark you really should put down the Kool-aid. This must be your first mmo though because you trying to bash “the other game” failed bad. MoP actually has a lot of fun to offer. So please don’t bash another game if you haven’t played it.

I had access to the entire beta.

You find it fun, I found it boring. After the beta and the few patches that went live before Pandaria, I decided to leave.

WoW now blows.

Still loving it. Just dinged 68 last night, while exploring. Already up to 20 gold again (spent about 12-15 on crap I wanted xD), and just love venturing around finding crafting mats to sell.

Once I ding 80, I’ll probably finish all of the world zones, and then do every jumping puzzle in the game. After that, I’ll delve into running dungeons, as I’ve seen a few gear sets I want.

Once I get all other affairs settled, my biggest thing will be WvW! I’ll probably avoid the zerging and go for stalking solo or small groups. Will be like old times on another MMO.

Granted, when I get bored I’ll more than likely jump onto an alt and do it all over again. I dunno, this game is like.. home for me. Totally comfortable and a blast from start to almost finish.

I, personally, do not want this ’loot>skill’ sort of game. I’m sorry, but I’ve played enough of these games. While it’s fun to stomp on your opponent when you’ve put more time into the game, it gets old really fast.

It’s not much fun when everyone you beat down, only lost because of huge gear differences. It’s one reason I left WoW.

While WvW does hold a little bit of gear edging, it’s in no way game breaking. I’ve jumped people that were obviously better geared than I was, and still won with a little bit of thinking. Most other games.. this isn’t even an option. You go up against someone in the highest tier gear, you’re going to get facerolled into oblivion.

GW2’s gear ’treadmill’ is fine as it is, in my opinion. It’s the kind of game I like. It’s the style of gameplay that suits me, and ever since last year when I researched all that i could, I knew this would be my style of MMO.

I’m sorry OP, as cliche as it is- If you’re looking for ’better stats’ then yes, by all means you have other options for games. Games that would suit your playstyle and needs. I would rather not see my enjoyment hampered because of a never ending stat treadmill.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying you should leave. Just look at the game in a different sort of light, rather than what you’re used to.

Knockback isn’t that bad.

Just learn to use dodge with the right timing. I may get knocked down/back maybe 2/10 times now? Most mobs have an animation that will signal their big attacks. Once you get to know these, it’ll get much easier.

These overflow servers allow you to play your character that you’ve created on your home world while you wait, or do you have to make new ones? Either way it does sound interesting.

Nope, no creations needed. Just pick the character you’ve already made, and if the home server’s full you’ll be placed into ‘Overflow’. (You’ll get a message when you log on if you are in overflow.)

It’s just their way of handling server overloads until more room is available.

Looks like Tarnished Coast is full and I can’t select that world. Is that a permanent thing? Is there any workaround? I’d happily wait in a queue but that doesn’t look like it’s a possibility.

People don’t all spam HS. I use it as a finisher and it misses 60% of the time on a target under 25% health.

It’s called a finisher for a reason.

What class are you? What stats do you have on your armor? How about traits?

Do you build for complete survivability or power? There’s a lot of other info we don’t see.

Happiness scale... 10/10.

Enjoy exploring most of all. So many things I’ve noticed/seen that just adds to the detail of the world. I LOVE finding paths not meant to be taken.

PvE can get stale occasionally when spawn rates are through the roof, but thankfully not every zone is like that. A lot of freedom when it comes to how and where I choose to level.

PvP... it’s my dream game. No hour long battle vs healers. Most classes can be fought 1v1. Some classes seem OP, but I’m positive that there are ways to counter them. I’m really enjoying the game so far, and look forward to new zones.

I believe there are exotics and nifty skins you can get later with karma. Or mats for professions. I always find better stuff on the TP or through loot as upgrades. I never buy gear from <3’s. Last time I spent karma on an item.. was a nice speargun for underwater.... 2 minutes later finding an even better speargun. /facepalm

Support XP would be nice, Ladders are great.. but no thanks on the ’lfg’ queue system. If it was STRICTLY for your own server, perhaps.. but anything else is horrid.

Have you explored the world in the last year or better? Nobody around in 90% of zones. Hardly anyone in most starter zones. Likewise for most endgame zones. Anything you see is people sitting in town waiting for queues to go off.

Tarnished Coast, which is the U.S. RP server, and the only one I can speak for, is friendly and inviting. No one has been overly serious or elitist that I’ve seen; people are usually up for casual and spontaneous rp, if they’re rpers at all. (there are many, but not everyone, of course) I haven’t seen any trolling by non roleplayers while I’ve been on, and the /Map chat is usually OOC, so no worries about getting shouted down for talking out of character there. (or anywhere else that I’ve seen, though common courtesy would say, if you know you’re in an rp server, try to keep your OOC chat off the /say window just so you don’t clutter it up … but I don’t think anyone’s going to chop your hands off if you forget)

If you’re thinking about it, come on over. I’m almost always open for a little spontaneous rp, so if you see me don’t be afraid to approach.

MMhm! Tarnished Coast is an amazing server when it comes to Roleplay. I haven’t really jumped in much, but I do like wandering about, watching others do so.

I can confirm there isn’t much trolling going on, as people seem pretty mature and respectful. I think i’ve seen one incident.. some young kid was being made fun of by someone else about ’grammar’ and ’schooling’, but such incidents are very few and far between. Nicest community I’ve been glad to be a part of.

I didn’t have THAT much trouble, until I got to Covington... Respawn there is super fast. Especially when the champion undead is up. She must have slaughtered 15 people yesterday before a huge party came in and cleaned up.

Try the norn Area.. um.. dredgehaunt cliffs? Level 40-50 zone that’s a bit easier. (I’m currently doing it now, after completing BTC).

I’m happy with playing it now. I just like exploring, even if there are bugs. Many MMO’s have bugs when they go to a live state. If all these bugs were prevalent in beta, why would they release?

Sometimes things go awry. There’s a heavier load on the servers than when people were in beta. Things will break.

however, when you get these bugs.. report them asap, so they can get fixed asap. So far, Anet’s been doing alright for trying to keep up on bugs like this. If something’s messed up, I’ll go back to it later, when it is working.

Armor skins are probably the only thing I thought of when I made my choice. I haven’t bothered with buying any of the armor for stats. You can get better stuff via other means.

Some of the skins are nice depending on the order you choose. To me, the medium armor doesn’t look too great from any of the orders (on a female). The only one i liked remotely was the Vigil armor, so i went there instead.

The core idea of this game is that your skill is what matters… not your gear.
You can spend extra time on your 80 to get true badarse looking gear, but you’re not going to auto-win PvP and PvE because of it.

No, you are just going to zerg it instead, because thats all I see in pve and pvp.

When it comes to pvp.. why do you need to zerg? For me, the fun part of pvp is venturing off alone and looking for people to stalk lol

Much more fun to find a victim and catch them off guard. Even better when you’re going 2 or even 3v1. The ‘zerg’ rushing is just a side aspect in WvW to me.

Most mountains can be scaled with the right know how. Many people, like myself, enjoy finding all of those little shortcuts. I’ve probably been on top of areas many other haven’t gotten to yet.

As for watching cutscenes.. no. No you do not have to watch anything. Whether it’s storymode, Scouts or Vistas, you can stop them. Story-mode you can skip to the end with one click. Scouts, just hit M again. Vistas, move your mouse to the lower right and click the exit button.

When it comes to bugged things.. submit a report. They’ll get fixed. They just did a few broken DE fixes not long ago.

The whole part of a gaming world is the exploration. It’s fun. if you don’t like exploring, you could always just go level up in pvp lol

However, i don’t really care. I can simply redo what was already done and go on with life.

If you hate it now, then nothing’s going to change at 80. You get a few traits, a few skills for your builds, thn you either farm or do PvP. if you’re not too big on PvP, then you’re probably not going to play much.

I play because I enjoy the game. The pve is less of a hassle in terms of questing, meaning I can complete quests how i want to, and I like being able to take on content a few levels ahead of me for the challenge. i’m also a pvp nut, moreso open world style, so I’ll be spending my time in WvW, hunting people down.

Go to Divinity’s Reach, where the banker and TP is. Run down the glass hallway north of there, and hang a left when you get into the next hall.

Grab gathering tools and explore.

I make at least 1-3 gold going all around a zone, uncovering everything that I can, doing DE’s and farming up all the crafting mats I can get. I sell EVERYTHING I find. Some low level mats sell nicely.

otherwise, you can play the BLTP and do the good ol’ fashioned buy low, sell high.

Mine isn’t really all that.. original, but my Main Orphyn X is a name I’ve used since the first MMO i’ve played. i’ve always played a rogue and I’m a bit of an RP geek, so the name symbolizes my class choice and style of play. A loner with no name sort of thing. The X is only because I was testing the last name feature and I wasn’t sure if it would actually work. >_>

Regardless of why hes posting about it. I am a thief and I think frenzy and all ability’s like it should be reworked. They don’t really feel like they fit in the type of pvp GW2 is trying to create. If they want epic 1v1’s and epic 5v5 team fights these utilities are complete garbage and just fuel zerging. The goal is to increase the skill cap of playing gw2 not reduce it.

You dont get it. For most people complaining, it’s the core mechanics/gameplay that is lacking, not some small simple bugs. We are talking about major design flaws, which in it’s current state only a few people actually enjoy for an extended period of time.
