ArenaNet is still pumping out updates, listening to community feedback and making lots of positive changes that have really done a great job in improving the game.

Without reading the entire third+ page of back-and-forth arguing, I’d like to chime in here and say that I love the jumping puzzles. They’re fun, and I’ve never felt more accomplished in a game than I did when I reached the top of the Mad King’s Clocktower last year. I hope they bring it back again.

Jumping puzzles are magnificent. Best part of this game aswell. Just think about all those incredible experiences. <3

Apart from that… a lot of this game is rather annoying. Dungeons are an endless repetition, after doing them 100+ times you get reaaaally bored. Dynamic events don’t have any real impact on the world and reward players badly. Champions are a zerg-fest, not an unique boss fight. WvW is a zergfest aswell, no tactics. Personal story is cliché and bland. The gear system… is rather useless; needing different armour sets for different builds? That’s just bad managing. Also ascended gear is a totally unecessary addition. Structured PvP has no progression. So overall PvP is rather disappointing. Living story has no impact and feels like filler (carrot/stick) content. Achievements are numbers without a meaning.

The lore however (that is, the racial backgrounds and world) is incredible and unique!
The combat is one of the smoothest in any game I played.
The classes, especially engineer, are unique and feel useful.
The fact you don’t need specific healers is also very nice, but it’s sad that the pure damage output is stronger than any other build.

The point of it is to unbalance World vs. World even more, because you don’t even need exotic for doing PvE content, let alone ascended.

PvE is for the casuals in any case. Who cares about killing AI monsters that run to you with the one renowned tactic ‘knockdown and attack’. True, a lot of WvW players have about the same tactic, but those are either casual or brainless WvW players (aka. blobbers).

Though there are still a few who do more than that and actually use tactics, and those are the good WvW players.

So in short the Guild Wars 2 community:

• PvE players that have no brains [Zergers/Farmers]
• PvP players that have no brains [Blobbers]
• WvW players with brains! [Us]
• Roleplayers [R(I)P]

I like the methodical and analytical way in which you determine the problems and accordingly the solutions. I agree with most of them, but I think more drastic changes would be necessary to avoid 1] Lack of Server Balance 2] Blobbing (aka. PvDoor) 3] Night-Capping.

A few other things that make WvW a less fun experience:

• Ascended armour unbalances the real competition, Pay to win
• Upscaling low levels makes them about as strong as an ambient creature, takes about 1-2 critical hits to kill? Instead, make everyone as strong and make special 3-stat armour that doesn’t have a rank, like armour in SPvP
• Bloodlust is horrible
• Skill lagg seriously needs a fix. High end $3,000 pc, you win?

The main issue is that the feedback added by players are in most cases vastly different and in some cases contradict each other. So who should they listen to?

Yes, there’s a lot of contradiction and threads never arrive at a consensus on these forums. Which means that if you look to these forums for ready packed solution backed by common agreement you’ll be right out of luck.

But if you read deeper than that you’ll see that the good ideas do shine through as does the overall concensus of the community.

You only have to take a broader view of the WvW forum over the last month or so to for it to be apparent that:

• The Bloodlust buff has been a PR disaster
• GvG matters to enough people that it needs attention
• Imbalance between servers and its impact on match-ups is a huge issue
• The broken party functions and stone age commander system are ongoing issues
• There is a growing reaction against power creep in WvW
• The upcoming League is highlighting rather resolving all of the above problems

None of these things are new, they have all been apparent in these forums for a long time.

You asked “So who should they listen to?” Rather than follow a single instrument they need to listen to the symphony overall, because that’s where the bigger movements are played out and where the persistent themes will be heard. If Anet don’t have anyone who can do that for WvW, then they either need to get someone who can or accept that WvW will continue to be a difficult part of GW2.

This is false. Ascended Armor is coming. In all, the small stat increases that each piece of Ascended gear give add up. If you don’t realize this now you’ll regret later having to grind for Ascended weapons AND Armor at the same time.

Of course, WvW may not survive all this vertical progression anyway, so perhaps you’re in a way correct.

As a matter of fact, constituting this player’s point, full ascended gear gives a 13% stat boost compared to full exotic gear, which is a huge difference, and very very very significant for WvW. Basically it means that if Anet doesn’t do something about this (and the skill lagg and the blobbing), they’ll loose a maior part of the PvP community to other games that have a better competitive system.

Certain people still seem to feel obligated to point out what other people can and cannot do in WvW. Let me stress once again, that I’ve paid for this game in the same way you have, so am I not allowed to find enjoyment in other aspects of this gametype, that might not necessarily cater towards your vision of what WvW should be like? The most important part is that it’s WvW, not GvG. WvW is in the intended and designed game format, so of course that takes priority. GvG is not “another aspect of this gametype”, it’s a separate player-generated gametype that happens on the same maps.

gvg’ers are not the only hardcore wvw’ers. That type of thinking is precisely the problem I’ve been pointing out.

I don’t play GvG myself, but if I had the opportunity to do it more easily than it is now, I would do it without hesitation. I count(ed) myself as a hardcore WvWer but lately the imbalance between servers just gets worse and worse (the last 2-3 months).

Yeah because the frameworks are already there and it was in the game since launch. GvG players ask for a completely new gamemode which needs stuff like, achievements, rewards, a completely new arena, etc.

I don’t think that much work is involved:
1- Map: copy a pve map
2- Achievements: most of the people who GvG do it for the fun of it and take a record of their matches on sites outside of GW2.
3- Rewards: hardly necessary, since the guys who do GvG atm don’t get anything for it.

These fights are not even what I would dare describe as PvP. It’s just mindlessly pressing button #1 and chasing groups with less people. Hardly something that is enjoyable beyond gathering %karma, %gold, %badges.

If your on the forums, do you not realize the new WvW features coming up? Seasons? Anet is doing an amazing job at bringing us NEW content every 2 weeks, plus still making major overhauls to already existing content.

Nobody cares about those. The match-ups are so unbalanced that the worlds with most numbers win so nobody really cares about it. There isn’t a real reason why you should care about a ppt score either.

I would like Anet to set aside a map on each server. GvG map… Guilds or Individuals that want to participate in GvG are free to guest to any server for the intentions of GvG. Then we could have guilds from all servers fighting each other. This could eliminate the super stacking going on in the T1/T2 servers. There would be no need to transfer to other servers to find good GvG matchups. It could help even out the WvW population also.
