Mesmer has nothing in common with this. The dualist doesn’t use any illusion magic or whatsoever, he just uses pure skill to evade, block, parry anything the enemy throws at him.
I like the idea very much. It makes me think a bit about spartans.
^Omg Orpheal you keep coming up with amazing suggestions. I really hope they implement them, and I think you should try for a job at ANet
They have mentioned guild halls, but not announced them yet.
Daecollo, did you ever read what everyone in this post said?! They countered your point with this: through the culling in zergs you CAN’T see the thief, even while his stealth is gone, so you can’t know where your enemy is and you get hit out of thin air.
No, I’d opt for a 24 hour trial, that only counts down when you are logged in. This way you don’t have to worry about when you want to start the trial, it doesn’t matter. Though I’d put a limit that if you haven’t used your 24 hours after 2 weeks, the account is terminated.
- no access to trading
- no access to mailing
- no access to guilds
- no world vs. world (this should be reserved for those who bought the game, cause there is to much stress on it as it is).
- only limited access to 5 zones.
- no access to banks
- no access to map chat
- no access to personal story
BUT:
→ access to dungeons
→ access to SPvP
→ all classes available
→ all races available
→ ability to preview on TP, but not buy.
→ friends available, to allow for people to join in with their new-made friends when they do buy the game
(edited by Sirendor.1394)
That’s the way I think about it Narc.
Then join a guild. And to counter: “I don’t want to”…
If you don’t want to come into contact with other players, then don’t play an online game, but go play the common single player games and don’t start complaining on online game forums.
I ocassionally roll thief in WvW myself, using S/D & SB instead of the common used D/D combination. I gotta say, those using HS D/D aren’t worth the name “Thief”, because they ruin the entire profession’s name. I don’t use the stealth spam neither, so don’t say that EVERY thief is a kitten, although a lot of them are.
I suggest they counter the HS spamming by higher cost of initiative and fix the culling.
I have trouble with those HS/BS thieves myself in WvW, unless you make them waste all their initiative then hunt them down while they are useless.
HS + stealth spam thieves are not the way thieves should ever work.
Amazing post! I can find myself in your ideas, but I believe this will be a very, very, very distant update, and although I want it to come soon, it might be better if they refined the stuff that is in-game at this moment.
→ Gauntlets
→ Twohanded Axe
→ Flail
→ Crossbow
→ Sniper gun
What about this: every boon applied to any ally counts for a certain % of damage.
Also for the tanks out there: % damage taken = % damage done in calculations for contributions.
For example a level 80 boss hits 5k per hit on a heavy class with a lot of toughness, but would hit 7k on less armoured ones. A guardian can mitigate a ton of that through blocks etc. Every block counts for 6k damage taken. Now a thief can easily hit 3k per hit too., when on total dps. The boss’ health is 300k about? Meaning a thief can hit him for 1/100 of his health.
Now a guardian can blind, evade, block damage and heal/buff himself and allies aswell when he gets hit. This means he can possibly tank the boss all the time, or at least 4/5 of the time, while still dealing a tiny bit of damage.
In that respect, I think the damage done by the thief in the process, if you reckon there is only the thief and the guardian. The thief would do about 250k damage over time, the guardian perhaps 50k. He would get 1/6 contribution for damage.
But on the other hand he has taken 5k damage for 4/5 or 4,8/6 of the time, so he should get 4/5 contribution for tanking. Now he has also healed and buffed his companion thief: should count for another 0,5/6 at least, reckoning these boons wouldn’t be THAT big and the heals only a slight percentage of the heals the thief himself had.
This would bring the guardian 5+/6 contribution for support.
This would bring the thief 5/6 contribution for damage, but the damage is actually worth less because without support he would have died in no time, while the guardian would be able to hold out a long time solo.
Sorry mate, but it’s perfectly doable to ninja through the map if you want to complete it. You don’t even have to enter all the keeps for poi (though vistas require some more). Yesterday my guild and me jumped into a map that the enemy had completely covered, we had no towers, keeps or anything. We just took some rams (6s each), skipped through half the map, took about 3-4 towers, 1 keep and lots of supply camps, we even ninja’d through the Godsword (northern zone).
Now in order to inform you: my guild isn’t a WvW guild and we were just 10 people and some 10 more people following us around.
Well most of it sounds fine. Should add a quick TL;DR though :p
Very nice update on dervish. I think it’s worth rolling. I’ve seen only 1 quality revamp of another class so far (The Spiritualist by Redrex), but this one is on the same level.
Keep up the good work.
^This isn’t about the holy trinity… it is contrary to it. The point is that there aren’t specific healer, tank, dps classes…. this means EVERY class can play support, tank, dps to a certain grade. So this doesn’t have anything to do with it, your point is nonsense.
Yes, but no stats, only skins.
Awesome ideas!!!! More of it plox!
Agreed: I have this problem with alts most of the time. I like to play a character that looks good, not wearing level 1 gear… so each time I level 5-10 levels more, I need to transmute everything or give up on my looks…
I find this very, very annoying.
I will speak for Santcum of Rall server… there are many strong guilds here, the ones I consider “more powerfull” in order are:
Choo
FEAR
WvW
LUN
WvW is on any server. Don’t like them.
For Gandara (tier 4): DIUS, Yak, CM are my guess.
Mmm are we still holding SM? We were having a tough time some hours ago. Please say yes!
i’ve been angry about this since the betas. still unsatisfied and angry that OUR chosen of method of play, i.e. support for those of us who wish to run it, is NOT supported or recognized as a contribution.
And Anet advertised we could play the game our way ….sad to see this being ignored after that statement.
I know really :‘(. I love playing the supportive classes, cause i’m not the kind of guy who likes to max everything in crit damage + power in order to jump enemies who are least suspecting. Instead I try to put all in tanking abilities and healing abilities and I do help a lot of people out, either in dungeons or in world vs world.
^Hahahahaha! Well said! I think that’s the feeling of about 70% of gw2 population. xD
I could see this on Engineer Thief and Guardian as new 2 handed weapons .
Not on ranger? ;P
Guardian defs: we don’t have any long-ranged abilities (apart from scepter, which doesn’t do it’s job…)
Sounds cool.
Warrior: dagger offhand! What about all the mercenary warriors in the stories, that have sword+dagger?
Necromancer: torch?
Thief: rifle perhaps? Sniper shots?
Mesmer: no idea
Mhm, those would be some worthy changes, but I would kill for a damage build-up.
Additionally siege ladders, sapper explosives? Would make WvW a lot more dynamic.
Edit: sapper explosives wouldn’t be to overpowered: they would deal damage to both allies and enemies when they exploded. So that way it would require players to retreat for a second before a wall exploded. It would also only deal limited dmg (10% of a wall) and there would only be 1 set of explosives allowed at one time, to prevent abuse. Enemies would be able to pick the explosives you’ve laid out aswell, and try to bring them away from the walls. Therefore it would require a good organization and timing.
(edited by Sirendor.1394)
Okay upon further consideration playing to 80 6 times would make the 7th amazingly boring to get to 80.
Mhmm, not PER level 80, that’d be to overpowered (think about the ones having 10+ characters). I have 3 80s, which would mean an exp increase of 30%. Imagine people with 5 or 6 80s…
No instead: 10+% for the first, 20% for the second, 30% for the third. 30% is already rather overpowered.
Anyways, as many have pointed out, they won’t add existing weapons to any class. Instead I think they will bring new weapons in expansions together with new classes, maybe allowing the existing classes to use these new weapons, maybe not.
Also new race (tengu).
We can count on a few favorites of most players I think: greataxes, crossbows, gauntlets.
The exp boosters don’t work all that well, they only give exp for kills, which is by far the least exp you get. I’m an altaholic (I love alts) and it sucks to play all the content over each time. I have leveled 3 80s, one 60 and a few 20s
^How would guild taxes work? Maybe like this?
→ When you occupy a tower/keep: everyone coin loot players get from killing others, from killing monsters, from events etc. stores 1 silver in the guild stash of the guild that occupies the tower/keep.
It doesn’t matter if the player earned 50c or 3s, every coin loot offers the guild 1s, without actually taking money from the players who got the coins.
→ People who besiege a tower/keep with proper siege equipment get a bonus gold when their world takes the keep, regardless who has claimed it.
Yeah mate there have been a lot of discussions over this. I think it is pointless to make legendaries that are practically created by farming gold, which doesn’t require any skill or real effort at all, as long as you’re braindead. This has reduced the legendary status to: no-life goldfarmer item. Nothing less, nothing more.
My suggestion: create a whole bunch of legendaries and require SKILL in order to get them, so there aren’t 20 people running around with the same one in a range of 1,000m.
I agree with the OP that legendaries shouldn’t be rewarded for brainlessly farming gold, cause that doesn’t make it legendary in ANY way. I think completing story would be a fine enough idea to earn your precursor, but in order for this to work: make more variety in legendary weapons. If there are like 200 of them, you can’t complain that everyone has the same one.
Yes, they should defintly improve the guild system, and also add capes, which I miss from gw1 so much :c
Me too, guild capes were the best!
Yep! Although I hope they do their work on them first. Nobody likes clipping capes…
Woah, that’s awesome dude. Maybe add player houses as a function to build on the guild island too?
yes! I agree totally!
I think following classes should get crossbow (2-handed):
- Ranger: piercing bolts
- Engineer: used for shooting explosives
- Thief: piercing dmg
Others don’t need it if you ask me.
Oh and btw, I’m not trying to hinder you guys in any way. I don’t care if ranger gets a new weapon, but at least let it be a weapon that actually fits the class, e.g. crossbow.
No they don’t. A ranger isn’t a shooter class, it’s a “nature” class. The bow has always been the main weapon of rangers. Rifles are for ‘developed’ classes, such as the engineer.
LoL at you…. Its *RANGE*r. Not “nature” class, even if some hippie or arenanet thinks that.
It would be good if we can “snipe” with rifles. Only problem is that it requires no skill at all. Bows neither
That reply is quite much wrong. It doesn’t refer to “sniping” in any way. The ranger is the traditional roamer, surviver class, that uses the nature to his benefit and shoots enemies from the bushes using his bow. Gunpower is in no way part of that, and while bows are silent weapons, guns are not.
There should be a little more variety to cultural armour in that respect. Typical charr armour with rags that show the fur, typical norn armour that shows tattoos. Charr are still pretty ‘savage’ in their ways, although they have very developed mechanisms, they are still rather blunt in their conversations and habits, growl, scratch, bite.
I think we can all agree that we need more guild functions and some love for guild UI in general.
Totally, and there are quite some requests out there for guilds. Hope they take them in mind.
Worth going with an idea like this. Different places offer a different summon?
Mmh true, but I’d like to see the thief as a professional who is just that good that he can shadowstep over to other places, by using the shadow as a master.
Free to have other opinions in this ofcourse
Yep, that’s something gw1 had, definitely need it here: makes you able to decide whether you have a defensive, a strong, an evasive or other one. I don’t think the size should differ too much though :P
Maybe allow both to be seen then at the moment we have one button there →
+1
what if we make it like this: when you click + 1 or -1, you get to see the amount that chose for one and the amount that chose for the other.
+1 -1
200 93
lol runescape xD come on dude, we can’t compare GW2 to runescape…
Where was the comparison to RS? He was just saying you could dual wield crossbows in RS, and it looked cool.
Hush, it wasn’t ment as an insult, was just having fun about it.
Also; the thief is not a magic class: his shadowstepping is what the name says: “Shadow Arts”. Shadow Arts mean, I would think, that you are able to use the Shadow in order to gain step into one place of shadow and come out of another (sort of a shadow path), or stealth (become one with the shadows).
That’s what I think was the original purpose, like we saw it with the Assassin in guild wars 1.
Lol, it’s the only smart thing to do in these dungeons Nittles. Why pay a 15 silver if you can get no damaged equipment at all. It only seems fair to me.
Ok that sounds cool, but the guild can modify his ranks, so everyone would run around with different titles…
I can support the final idea, in case this only happens when the author specifically wants to have his thread without replies. Also if there is a +1 button, then there should be a -1 button I think, in order to see the correct picture. If there is only a +1 button, there’s no way you can tell how many people didn’t like the idea. It’s like having youtube with only a -1 button. You’d see 50 people who didn’t like a video, and would think: that’s a lot of dislikes. But then there were 100,000 who did like it…
