Hell yeah! Bio also add this one: show guild message of the day in the chat box when logging in: nobody ever checks them. Guild wars 1 has this chat box message feature: re-implement it!
lol runescape xD come on dude, we can’t compare GW2 to runescape…
Yep: thief has unload on dual pistols, warrior has volley on rifle… why don’t engineers have sequence attacks?
I don’t see it as an issue of modesty but practicality. Charr as a race are extremely pragmatic now (and very far from the bestial Charr from GW1). Leaving a lot of fur showing leaves it open to attack, and Charr would never sacrifice that combat advantage for aesthetic reasons. So from a lore perspective, I don’t think showing a lot of fur really fits the Charr in GW2.
That said – I wouldn’t be opposed to some sets that show more fur if it was done in a fierce tribal way, rather than a ‘sexy’ way. While tribal doesn’t really fit the modern Charr I wouldn’t mind people having the choice to have armor that is more like the primitive (and revealing) garb of GW1 charr.
About the ‘combat advantage’ when wearing clothes: not really. For example a light-armour class doesn’t need all these robes, cause one would slice through them as easily as if they had no clothes at all. The same counts for a lot of medium armour sets, that look like they are robes.
Yes! I have had the same ideas, but never made a post about it, cause it wouldn’t get read probably. I like to support too, but I think devs just want to punish people who try to go as a healer, something I find in every way as good as any other role.
Please Anet, allow us to play any sort of combat as a support unit:
- World vs. World: only high damage spammers get awarded with badges and loot.
- The situation the OP has suggested.
- Dungeons, etc.
Mhm, I’ve read your topic about the ranger Radio, and criticized you indeed, along with others, but that critizism was founded on something. I don’t see why you can’t criticize the ideas of others, as long as you don’t say “Get lost, noob, you’re garbage” or something that could possibly insult them. I’m all for constructive criticism, but some ideas should be met by saying “No.”
2-handed crossbow I think Saber :p
Just a small but important guild change:
- Show your guild announcement or message of the day in the chat every time you log in.
- I’ve encountered the problem several times that when you put a message there for your guild members, half of them never even see the guild message. Please fix this: In guild wars 1 they just showed the message in the chatbox the moment you logged in, in a different colour from the text.
So what do I think should be done:
- Grenades: autotargetting and directing attacks to target without needing to area-target.
- Weapons: damage should be better (15% seems reasonable).
- New weapons (Mace? Hammer?): more burst abilities please.
If you want people to play engineer, please make these changes. Else most will just stick to the other classes, cause they have better surviving AND better damage.
Killy. I don’t think this is a L2P issue. My first character was an engineer and indeed you have no chance at all to do any decent damage. The grenades hit for about 300-500 each, making for 1500, but with a moving target you often miss them.
So for that: I would really like a auto-attack ability that directs it’s attacks on the target, without needing to point to a certain spot with mouse cursor. Instead make it like grenades are underwater. Also we don’t seem to have any decent burst damage. Bomb hits 5k… compared to the easily 15k backstab of a thief, that’s just wasted.
So what does engineer have: rifle (no burst abilities at all, leap sometimes doesn’t even hit and there’s delay on the landing, making it unable to hit moving targets again).
It would be cool to have decreased damage if you had higher survivability instead, but no that isn’t the case again. As an adventurer the engineer has as much survivability as a thief, with about a quarter the thief’s damage output (4k-5k per hit with sword, compared with 1k-1,5k per hit with rifle).
Also: I’d like to add: I’ve played the thief to level 80 (with exotics) and it’s so much easier to handle, likewise for the warrior. Engineer needs some serious powering-up.
Remember: you can make more arrows if you really need to, but you can’t make more gunpowder out in the wilderness.
You could but it would take a lot of poop and time:)
And to build up on what you already said, you can retrieve arrows from dead bodies while bullets become useless.
You can poison Arrow’s head or set it on fire or attach a line to it and so on.
heheh, stink boooomb.
edit: anyways Radio – it’s not going to happen. If you want to use rifle that bad, go warrior or engineer, they’re both perfectly amusing.
Yeah, you’re right Safer. I don’t think the rifle fits in with the ranger as a nature class. The warrior does have a use for it. Warrior is practically a weaponmaster, the one that blasts opponents with a fierce rifle, slashes here and there with greatsword, strucks blows with the mighty hammer etc. It fits in with the warrior cause it’s sort of a “mercenary” class, that knows how to handle everything there is.
Ranger is more of a background, without that blackguard look to them.
I don’t really liked the dervish, but I do think gauntlet would be a great addition: maybe 1 class around it and the staff used as a melee weapon? Also add gauntlet to other classes: warrior, guardian, thief, elementalist seem the viable options for that. And maybe a gauntlet for engineer using explosion features.
I agree about DR, Hoelbrak, Rata Sum and BC: these cities are amazing. I can’t say I like The Grove: it’s a labyrinth.
If you ask me legendaries are a lame excuse for “being so cool”. It’s all about playing a ton, farming money for half the time you play, then buying the legendary: either by throwing exotics in forge, or by just straight-off buying legendary or precursor of the trading post.
There isn’t anything legendary about these items anymore: you see 5% if not more of the population running around with 1 or sometimes even 2 of them.
Legendaries simply aren’t legendary, they’re just a “I bought this by no-life moneyfarming without any skill involved” item.
About the suggestion: who cares about legendaries anymore?! They’re stupid. I couldn’t be bothered by getting precursors from story, or not.

Cool idea: I always get annoyed looking at the loading screen :P
I don’t think other players should see the ones ‘travelling’ though, if you see 30 people racing past you with a cart that would be quite weird and would probably strain the servers too. Maybe add a number of different cutscenes showing your transport?
Best idea would be to fade out after 1 or 2 seconds. Then some more seconds while you see your icon travelling around the map. Then an arrival scene. This would make it slightly more realistic. Right now you click “waypoint”, a loading screen appears, you are at your destination….
To make it fun: different cutscenes with a funny approach.
- A cannon: you climb into the cannon and you see yourself get launched.
- A cart: you climb into a cart and see yourself get carried by a mule.
- A wizard: a wizard appears and teleports you.
etc.
I agree. Not only is it useful when claiming guilds but also for creating a guild-feeling.
I suggest guild members also see a “home” icon if they have a tower, a keep or stonemist, but not for supply camps, cause they tend to switch hands very often.
Maybe add some other guild related features?
→ When you claim a tower you gain 100 influence for your guild, when you claim a tower you gain 200, when you claim stonemist you gain 500.
→ Be able to hire guards for towers with influence (only a limited number of guards).
→ Be able to build a portal for all guild members at the claimed tower, keep or Castle.
Anything that allows guilds to become an aspect that is more cherished. +1
Drop this please, it’s not going to happen, nor do we want it.
No thieves rest seems fine. Maybe give thieves crossbows? O_O
+1 We need them
I don’t think this idea holds any good points and to react to Prophet:
They should just force punishment on zergs. It shouldn’t reward people to destroy the enemy purely by overnumbering them. If anet wants WvW to be a success, they should allow the players to play different roles and be rewarded for them. There should be more WvW rewards and pride displayed. There should be a better organisation.
Briefly: WvW lacks a lot of things, strategy, coöperation, class functions…
MEOOW, I’m in. Also: I have a level 80 charr thief and I’m sorely dissapointed with the armour looks. There isn’t any, and I’m serious, good-looking armour. Even the t3 cultural looks stupid. I’m wearing the cof armour atm, but it just looks plain stupid cause charr don’t normally wear that much “clothes”.
No they don’t. A ranger isn’t a shooter class, it’s a “nature” class. The bow has always been the main weapon of rangers. Rifles are for ‘developed’ classes, such as the engineer.
whats wrong with a free 2-week trial to see if you’re interested?
2 weeks is a long period. There were people who reached level 80 within the week. This also doesn’t prevent abuse.
No it wasn’t Ezekiel, although I don’t have a huge liking for “WvW” – Guild.
Was some random guy nobody had ever seen before.
Dude, what’s the problem, you can have dark skin if you want to?
I get your point. I suggest something else though: make a trial. I’m sure a lot of people wouldn’t be happy if they changed the game to f2p right now when they paid £50 in the beginning. Just make a trial allowing you to play for 24 hours like it was in gw1
Oh and to avoid bots: IP-detect or something like that, or give keys out to mmo sites and make sure they come to the people who need them. Better yet: make a small zone that is exclusively for the trial members. A zone where the trial members don’t get an option to use the trade or the mailing system.
Maior problem with commanders is that there’s no organised PvP: you just zerg along, straight to “victory” whatever that may be when you didn’t actually do a thing.
Imo make more ranks and make those ranks earnable by experience, not by buying a leader insignia when you’re just a stupid gold farmer. Just 2 hours ago I went into WvW on the server Gandara in EB. There was one commander there, randomly running around. People got sorely confused and we lost 3 keeps while that guy was there, cause he didn’t have a clue. He didn’t even communicate with the other players, making it plain he was just one of those random noobs.
What.. and if 2 thieves fight eachother? The one who runs out of stealth dies the first?
Also: this would require a really big loading.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Upcoming_changes_and_features for the part on guild halls/player houses
No. People who want to have more than 5 characters should pay for them. I’ve paid 28g for 2 character slots: stop whining.
We’re adding in other problems here: I saw one of you say we’re a paw in a child’s toy war. I agree to that, but that isn’t necessarily a problem that can be solved by dropping commanders.
It just doesn’t feel like you’re valuable when mindlessly running opponents down, without actually requiring any skill in doing so. Instead I think it’d be a better idea to make dedicated roles in wars, so people actually feel like they have contributed to anything and they do get rewarded for it!
This is how I see it. When people first play WvW on one of their characters, they get the chance to accept a few roles: the standard roles in war are usually these:
- Soldier/Heavy: these are the heavy classes such as warrior, guardian
- Assassins/Snipers: these are the spy units in the army that should focus on getting behind the enemy lines and cutting supply lines, killing war leaders. This role could be filled by thieves and rangers.
- Sappers: the sappers are those who are devoted to siege and undermining the fortifications of enemies. Perfect for this role is probably the engineer.
- Wizards: these are the classes that are supposed to crowd-control the enemy, protect from opposite wizards etc.
Now: each of these different roles has a different target in warfare, and should get awarded for it just the same, wether you are in the frontline as a heavy-arms warrior, wether you’re a thief, poking knives in the backs of people or an engineer trying to blow up walls with bombs.
There should also be more class specific features in this I think.
- Engineers should have special options to break down walls faster.
- Thieves should have the ability to break into a fortification and steal treasures.
- Rangers should have the ability to attack the enemy by using animals that are around in the enemy fortifications.
- Necromancers should have the ability to raise minions from the graveyards. This is an addition I’d like: how can there be a battleground without graveyards and other normal things such as farms etc?
- ETC
Hope you like it
Woah Orpheal, you really worked on that one!
I did a quick read through and I like all of it. Kudos for you.
Ah Yeah that looks like them pretty much. I think Elonians look more African though.
sounds cool, it has a future.
SUPPORT -a-a-a-a--a
I like your idea of guild halls and player houses. Especially the influence part. My guild has tons of influence and we completed all upgrades so we don’t know what to do with it :P
I want account-bound dyes too, but it’s a commercial feat for Anet to keep them soulbound.
Erm, I don’t think you grasp the full idea. There would still be normal commanders, visible for everyone. But there would also be “guild commanders” only visible for their guild. That’s all. Those tags would only become active if there are like 5+ people of one guild in WvW.
Mhm, don’t any of you think they’ll add a new race that doesn’t exist as of yet?
The sylvari are as new as you can possible think, they were invented for the game.
Why wouldn’t they do that again, but in one of the places where we haven’t been yet? Atm we’ve seen Kryta+Shiverpeaks+Ascalon+Orr+Maguuma (Tyria).
There’s still Elona (Istan, Kourna & Vabbi) & Cantha (Kaineng, Shin Jea, Jade Sea) to go.
^Hell: the commander tag would only show for the guild member. So imo it’s a good idea, cause it allows guilds to work as a unit in wvw.
And yes please! Some rewards for the guilds who claim objectives would be cool.
Yes to all of it. Though, it would be better just to post your ideas on some of the existing threads. There are so many threads about guids out there.
I like this idea, unlike everyone else, I try to avoid LA at all costs unless absolutely necessary. I prefer my home town much more (and since I’m usually the only one there 95% of the time it kinda is my town now lol). Anything to get people out of LA and back into the home towns. Personally I think there should be more minigames in towns like keg brawl (and I know there are several coming soon, which I’m excited about) but needs to be one for each town. I have a suspicion they plan to do exactly that for each town because they all are pretty much set up for it already. Polymock in Rata Sum, Arena in BC (at least I hope it becomes a fighting pit one day), we have the shooting range and bar brawl coming to DR soon, of course keg brawl in hoelbrak, and still not sure about the Grove but I’m sure something can be put in there. Maybe bungee jumping or diving contests lolz.
You’re not the only one. I hate LA cause of the lagg and spam. It’s also pretty chaotic and doesn’t even look like a real city. There should go a bit more attention for other cities. Divinity’s Reach is a pearl, Black Citadel is the most epic one, Rata Sum is absurd, but still nice to walk around. Hoelbrak is very majestatic. The Grove I won’t talk about: pure confusion xD
The life in those cities is pretty low though. Everything seems to be the same always. There’s no evolution:
for example → in winter there wasn’t even snow, and there should be a lot more lanterns and stuff.
In spring should be more fresh life etc.
Elona? How so? I thought more about Cantha. :p
About the “I have a life”: I have one too. I’m level 20 on the new character after like 2 weeks. It isn’t about being level 80 all at once. I perfectly enjoy myself leveling the new character, since it’s completely different from the one I had earlier.
Even if you don’t enjoy doing that, there is crafting to level up (approximately 7g per 10 levels).
And if you don’t want to do that either… well why are you still playing the game?!
Yeah, some more sets would be cool.
I’ve seen tons of similar suggestions, and I supported every one of them, as i’ll do now.
I like how you’ve tried to make a nice, smooth summary
I can’t say it enough: YES, please remove multi-guilds OR allow us to see when someone last represented: we should be able to kick the inactives right?
The thing is, if they end up getting kicked anyways…, why allow multiple guilds in first place?!
Alliances: YES: we had them in gw1 and they were quite valuable. We want them back.
Tiers of guild armor sound nice. At the moment I’m quite dissapointed with guild armour, it looks like the cheapest pve armour there is.
More guild weapons: sure, but this isn’t really urgent.
I’d like to add Guild vs. Guild too.
@Awlbistle: seems like you’ve missed some news: they’ve announced an update considering the Guild hall and player houses: hooray!
Looks like a cool idea.
Personally I don’t even bother thinking about getting 100g or getting a legendary.
I don’t feel like spending half my life here in order to get a skin. It’s a total waste of money/time and the grinding isn’t fun at all. Some people were thinking the same about commander, but actually the commander tag makes more sense than a legendary. Commanders have a use, legendaries and 100g armour skins do not.
So imo: I have no problem with them getting a lot cheaper, since there’s no real point in getting them anyways: they don’t offer any benefits. The other way: seeing such expensive items, it only shows who’s a no-lifer and who isn’t, I guess.
