Please explain what’s wrong with representing the guild you’re in? Either you’re a member or you’re not. If you don’t want to represent a guild, you’re motives are questionable and a kick is warranted under certain circumstances. A guild wants to achieve it’s goals. In many cases that means people either co-operate or get out.

I agree with this opinion. A guild is a community of players who explicitly wanted to play together, otherwise they wouldn’t join. So if you join, represent that guild. There’s no use to being in a community when you aren’t an active member of it…

Guild Missions [merged]

Me and my guild did 3 bounty missions today and we failed 2. We had 40 people active and working. Following problems:
- Not finding an NPC for 10 minutes…. (Gendarran Fields pirate didn’t show)
- Boss taking over 10 minutes to kill (Frostgorge)
- Boss being killed in seconds (Diessa Plateau): no reward for all players

Suggestions:
→ I think every guild member active in the area where you are killing the boss should get a reward, cause sometimes by the time you arrive they’ve died.
→ Make the waypoint cost while doing Bounty zero.
→ Make hints that indicate in what direction the bounty is moving. People on map aren’t helping at all.
→ Make duration longer.

I personally think it’s best to represent one guild only. If you start not representing, it’s not worth having a member in your guild, cause they tend never to represent again.

Having an additional guild or two that focus on things where a player can be more than a number and source of influence is important. You have access to a larger world for massive events and/ or WvW content and then a smaller, reliable group for completing content in a way that you enjoy.

That, sir, was my exact point. When you start hopping guilds you never get to know the people in it and never actually become anything else than another non-representer, a number, and nothing else. When you forbid non-representers, you make sure there is a guild feeling.

Unfortunately you’re missing mine. Sometimes in a large guild, no matter how much you represent you may never get a “guild feeling” or be relevant. I commend you if you are able to guarantee that in your guild, however there are many guild leaders who are not so skilled, nor do they probably care if their 469th member feels at home. Thus the option for having an additional guild is necessary.

Well that is not an issue concerning representing. That is an issue concerning what a player wants. If you don’t want to be in a big guild and be a number, then why did you join it in the first place? The choice for a guild should be one strongly considered.
You have to make sure this is the guild you want to be in, those are the people you want to be with… In this point of view representing is just a solution for laziness.

Sirendor, I think I have found the part missing in your logic, you seem to think that representing and what a player wants is two different things. See what a player wants has everything to do with representing a guild. You talk about how members need to feel part of a guild, and so if they do not represent that guild they will not feel part of it, well I’m sorry you didn’t get the memo, but members don’t feel as if they are part of a guild because of the leaders mistake, not their own.
See you have 2 types of leaders, those who think the members work for the guild and it’s leadership, these are most often the people who have to be first to get something, and the members work how he/she wants it. Then you have other leaders who understand that guilds only work if the members are happy, because the leadership works for them.

For example, I have designed a guild which allows members to be part of a large guild (even spanning 3 servers) while at the same time have the comfort of being in a small tight knit family style guild as well, and on top of that opening the doors for them to be leaders themselves by not only encouraging them to create or be part of sub-guilds, but will help them recruit for it. And if we take a hit influence wise, I balance it by spending gold buying drinks for influence pts. I do this not because my members are lazy, or because I just don’t care, but because I do care about the members needs above my own ambitions for the guild, which by the way, my vision for the guild is based off of the members needs, not my own. They create the story, we as leaders are just the storytellers.

My guild categorizes in the 2nd category. We work hard for our members, but if you get people who don’t like to be in the group, cause they don’t ever talk to us, since they aren’t representing, that influences our members negatively. They don’t enjoy watching at a wall of mute people. I think it’s the duty of the guild leader staff to keep the guild healthy, by ensuring that the number of non-representers doesn’t go high into the sky.

I believe this is working for a familiar atmosphere where your members can feel at home, and where they like to be.

As it stands representing works like this:
- Person a joined guild x. Represents guild x.
- Person a joined guild y. Represents guild y and stop representing guild x.
- Person a spends all his time in guild y.
- Person a looses all contact with players of guild x.
- Person a never represents guild x anymore.

NEXT step: – Person a joined guild z. Represents guild z.
and so on.

I don’t think you should have guilds if you are going to behave like a butterfly, drifting from one flower to another and on again. This isn’t what guilds are about.
Guilds are about hanging out with a group of friends you get to know better and better, enjoying eachother’s company and doing activities together!

I think they have a certain economical reason to make guild missions so hard to achieve,
this is what I think: Anet hasn’t given any significant update, introducing nothing new that was of any worth (fractals suck, new pvp maps suck, living story is boring).
Now they still want to keep people interested, lest their game dissapears, cause lots of players are looking for a game that offers them what they want.

How can they do that? Very simple: they introduce guild missions that take about 100k influence per missions type, and that would take about 5 months to unlock them all, if you have 30+ active players.
I don’t see any other reason why it would take 5 months to grab a mission that is already in the open world!

I’m rather dissapointed with Anet. Guild Wars 1 was a long-time success, but very outdated at the end, with no new content of any impact. I fear Guild Wars 2 will be just that. They have the money, but why waste a lot of it on the game?

New map isn’t PvP: all you need is 5 bunker guardians or eles and drag those orbs. I don’t see the point of that. Please delete the map.

Edit: to add: i’m in the PvP lobby atm and there are about 20 people there, instead of the perhaps 50 there were before. Looks like another mayor part of the PvPers has given up.

It’s simple: either they have waaaaay to much work (although I don’t see on what) or they simply don’t care, now that they have their money.
They don’t earn huge amounts on the TP I think and they got 50£ from every player who bought the game. Right now, I think they just try to make sure people stay interested a little longer, while they keep on promising stuff to happen.

Consider the guild missions. They cost an inhuman amount of influence and they take 1 week to build. Mhm… I don’t see why it should take so long, unless they want to make sure nobody is able to get all the guild missions till like 2 months.

I for one am sorely dissapointed with the endless: “stuff will come soon”.
There are so many things that are needed in this game:
- trans-server dungeons
- guild halls/ player houses
- guild activity check
- WvW: more maps and features
- a fix on the grinding
etc
etc

WvW won't become what we hoped it would

Mmhm no Hex, I really think WvW is designed for end-game. People should be able to amuse themselves in WvW for weeks on end… not get bored after zerging for 2 hours.
I think it requires following things:
- A customizable world: build houses, build walls anywhere.
- A living world: there aren’t any citizens in any of the places, there are no farms, there are no children, no supply sellers (food, drinks…), no feasts when you claim a location…
- Different maps: right now we have 2 maps… (3 times the same one and EB)

Yeah, this would be a nice addition as long as it kept with the theme of the weapons.

I personally think these skills should have additional ‘requirements’ that make them more effective, meaning you could build in a variety of different ways.

I.E.

Warrior Skill 3 Sword:

  • Hamstring – Does what it does now.
  • Seeking Blade – Deals Damage. Deals damage and inflicts Bleeding if blocked.
  • Balanced Blade – Deals Damage. Hits twice and applies Bleeding if in a Stance.

Elementalist Skill 5 Staff:

  • Meteor Storm – What it does now
  • Rodgort’s Invocation – Applies Burning to all foes that enter the target area. If the Target is afflicted with a Fire Hex (i.e. Rodgort’s Mark, which is another swappable skill. Say Staff 3), then that foe also takes heavy damage.
  • Meteor – Bring down a single meteor, which knocks down target and nearby foes.

Ranger Skill 5 Longbow:

  • Barrage – What it does now
  • Arcing Shot – Unblockable
  • Enraged Shot – Fire an arrow that deals more damage the lower your pet’s health is.

Mhm, well they shouldn’t be too overpowered of course, but just different effects.
This would allow classes who atm have rather stupid skills, such as engineer rifle, to get more viable alternatives:

For example:
The engineer decides to go with offensive stance. He gets the base 5 offensive attacks.
1) AUTO: Shoot target, slow attack, high damage.
2) Cripple target with a well-aimed shot.
3) Follow-up attack, much like the “Volley” for warrior.
4) Headshot: daze target and make him vulnerable.
5) Unleash an exploding shot from a kneeling position, hitting foes in target explosion area.

These skills seem pretty offensive to me, compared to the skills we have right now (and I would call that defensive mode):
1) Normal piercing shots
2) Immobilize
3) Cone attack (blunderbuss), which misses a lot
4) Throwback
5) Jump

Now: additional options would be to switch out each of the 4 offensive attacks (not the auto) for 4 other offensive attacks.
I can’t really come up with suggestions for those, but you get the picture.
For example; exploding poison bullets, knockdown, aoe rifle blow (melee), confusion (shooting rifles around persons to distract) etc.

That’s what I did silver and yes you can unsoulbind stuff with transmutation stone. You make it accountbound. Isn’t that enough?

I thought transmuting anything makes it soulbound?

When you transmute an item you want the looks from, to a white item (doesn’t matter what level), you get an accountbound item. I did this with the Seraph Greatsword.

Hello everyone! I’d like to suggest something to prevent combat becoming to bland, allowing more variety to fighting styles. I’ve been following tons of forum posts for the last months and I’ve seen some very nice suggestions.

1. Swap-able Weapon skills: Atm we have 5 standard skills for every weapon.
I think it would be an interesting idea to provide 9 skills for every weapon, 2 per skill we have today, minus the autoattack.

For example: the thief as it is now; most people run with dagger/dagger:

Skill 1; autoattack //// Skill 2; Heartseeker //// Skill 3; Death Blossom //// Skill 4; Dancing dagger //// Skill 5; Cloak & Dagger

So what do we have: 1 jump, one aoe, 1 cripple, 1 stealth.
Alternative for these skills

Skill 1; Same as normal auto-attack ////
Skill 2; Evade around your foe, daze him with a fast hilt knock. ////
Skill 3; Shadowstep, drop on your foe, knocking him down. ////
Skill 4; Parry opponent’s next attack and counterattack with free dagger. ////
Skill 5; Slash your foe across the belly, bleeding damage or poison. ////

Now each of these skills would be individually swap-able.
For example:
1- AUTO
2- Heartseeker
3- Shadowstep, drop on foe. (NEW)
4- Dancing dagger
5- Bleed or poison (NEW)

I just used the thief as an easy example and I don’t seek to promote them. This mechanism would be adoptable to every class (also elementalist and engineer!) and skills would only be swap-able while out of combat.

2. Stances: You’d have different stances on every class: defensive, offensive: allowing different weapon skills on different stance. For example: defensive skills when on defensive stance; offensive skills when on offensive stance.
The skills that are part of each stance wouldn’t be individually swap-able, but would be part of that particular stance. Of course if you combine it with my previous suggestions, you can have 9 skills per stance.

All this would make for amazing inpredictability in combat; something better than for example the usual 100-blades spam on warrior and the HS spam on thief.

I think they should actually implement something to make it possible to contact the enemy and make an alliance, upon which players become “purple” names, or neutral for you: this means you won’t actually hit them, unless you specifically target them. This also means you can talk with them. I think these alliances shouldn’t be server-bound, but guild-bound.

Sure! But don’t allow JPs to give battles anymore. I think we should be able to buy commanders through badges solely. I’m a fervent WvW player when I have the time for it and atm I farmed 300 badges by doing nothing else than playing WvW (no JPs or whatsoever involved).

I don’t think Inquisitor should be scholar or adventurer, it would fit in the general scheme of a Dark Knight, a Lord of Evil. I don’t see why it is reason for criticism either…
YES, Inquisitors were bad people. YES, Necromancers were bad people. YES, Thieves were bad people.

New Profession; Demon Hunter

Actually they gave up on life, transforming themselves in stone, but that wasn’t the topic at hand. Why would you name it Demon Hunter in the first place? Is it a class that can solely hunt demons? It seems rather restrictive.

I would be open to a profession suggestion forum. Only problem I see is 99.99% of them not being taken since there is hardly even room for 1 more profession with how much the pre-existing professions can do already.

I think there would be at least some space for a new soldier class (e.g. the Reaper and the Inquisitor)

Summoner Profession

IMO the ritualist should simply return, it’s my 2nd favorite profession in GW1 and it would perfectly fit GW2.
some say the mesmer is the new rit which is as inaccurate as a rifle with a 97 degree barrel, others say the engineer is the GW2 rit but the whole purpose the rit had in GW1 can’t be found anywhere in the engineer.

your suggestion could be the basic ground to revive the ritualist in GW2.

I think you should opt for the Spiritualist, a concept by Redrex. It’s been put together very good and discussed properly.

Only thing warrior doesn’t have is the life sacrifice mechanism, the rest seems to be in-game. Also warrior is a highly active style of combat, allowing for a high amount of movement skills both in weapons and in utilities.

dude… you know who Inquisitors were and what they actually did, right?

I don’t think that is a valid objection. Consider the use of Inquisitor in the game itself: the Inquest Inquisitors. Also Inquisition comes from the verb “to inquire”, literally to interogate. It shouldn’t always have a negative definition, and even if it has a negative definition… don’t thief and necromancer also have one?

I think Inquisitor therefore has some very unique and fitting mechanisms/backgrounds.

Hey there devs, I’d like to ask you if you could make a new category in forums considering new professions?
There are tons of new and promising professions being invented as I type this, but there’s a severe problem with this. Most of these professions focus on being implemented in expansions, and are therefore a long-term project. I think it would be a shame to let all these good ideas go to waste because the general suggestions spam them to the background.
