Sure, I take your words for that because 6 mos ago, I still run a wrong bow ranger w/ no pant. But that doesn’t invalidate my speculation because the bugs might been fixed to make it harder to appear but with the new change in the game environment, ugly things start to show up again.

Could it be the new contents every 2 weeks start doing something to everything? Like the fractal ice elemental animation bug we’ve seen lately?
People have been complaining about those bugs loooooong before those things started.
I mean those bugs from Chryzo videos, the sparks attacking players while Simin is still active and 2 sparks in the same circle. I’ve neither seen those bugs before nor heard any one talking about it. Have you?
The only one were talked a lot is Simin’s health regen at 50% and lately, the lack of dps time regardless how fast a spark run is.
I was at Lupi with the other night with 2 pugs and 2 experienced Lupi melee friends. The pugs wanted to melee, cool. Turns out they would not dodge the grubs. After we told them they need to dodge the grubs, the thief says “nah, it’s fine up to 15”.
Wtf?
I already solo’ed him with 12 Stacks, 15 shouldn’t be much of a problem too.
It will just take forever without reflection skills.
But…but…but 99% of players out there aren’t you, Dub.
Could it be the new contents every 2 weeks start doing something to everything? Like the fractal ice elemental animation bug we’ve seen lately?
If people are so passionate about their education & career like they are so passionate about their game, we would have zillion of PhDs by now.
I’m sorry if I missed this in the thread, but can anyone explain why going naked for this boss is beneficial?
Oh, he just made fun of people like me who claimed it’s impossible to beat the boss in whatever way.
Or look from another angle, if someone can beat the boss w/o armor, it’s very possible to beat the boss w/ full armor. A boost in confidence, so they said.

^ You might run into one guy I know, then it’s a definitely yes.

Leman,
It seems you & I are talking past each other. Your new response doesn’t tell me anything new that I may misunderstood you but rather it does confirm my opinion that you are replacing one time gate w/ another time gate. Duration is changed, but it is still a time gate.
If it’s an account base, why can’t I bring my alt to play at my highest level then upgrade to my highest level? If it’s too descriptive for you, I can give u a very simple example in text, no fancy graphic needed:
1) Char 1 level 43
2) Char 2 level 1
Play char 2 at any level from 43 & above will upgrade it to level 43. Playing at any level below 43 before reaching 43, will only upgrade to that level. No time gate, no weekly gate, no nothing. Would it be a better idea?
(edited by SkyChef.5432)
I read it otherwise (and I did reread it just in case). His example clearly indicates that a person level 25 has to go though a time gate of 1 tier per week, until reaching the max personal level which one of his character has. So basically, instead of 48 time gates (use 48 as an example) w/ no restriction on time, we get 4 time gates of one successive tier per week. We just replace a time gate w/ another time gate even though it goes against all the reasons he has stated why a time gate is no longer necessary for experienced players. Why can we just drop all the time gating altogether to make it a truly account base level?
If it’s not his intention, then I think an edit need to make to clear it.
(edited by SkyChef.5432)
The way I read it, Leman, is I have to go through the hoopla every week to get to my highest personal level. If my main is 48, why can I just jump all the way to 48 within 1 week with my alts, instead going through the hoopla of 10s, 20s,30s,40s every week?
I have no interest in playing low level fractals and if I do that’s because I want to help someone new to fotm to level up. So far as it’s right now, I completely lost interest in moving my war up the chain even though I have played her at 48 while her reward were in the 20s to 30s. And I also have 4 more alts and having no interest into playing them in fractals considering the hoopla I have to go through again.

I think Anet is very generous to provide convenient places for players to afk attacking boss so they can do their own things during those precious minutes after so many boring repetitive runs.
Take the Arah mage crusher for an instance, it would take about 3-5min if you range and if you’re fast enough w/o making a mess, you can take a leak, go get a drink, reply to a horde of whispers, answering the door bell etc. All of that w/o having to tell your team to wait for you because we could all do it at the same time.

Wait Haviz, so you just know today that smite doesn’t remove anything? Now that’s something I don’t expect it because every one claim that all skills remove 1 shield stack.
(edited by SkyChef.5432)
I have heard about smite did multiple hits before but never bother to check during the fight. Since Haviz is a renown expert of GW2, he must know more than a blonde like me so I would take it @ its face value due to his credibility.
Hmm. Serve me right to be a lemming. Note to myself: Make another blonde asura.
(edited by SkyChef.5432)
Here are 2 contradictory statements:
“ Haviz..
That’s a false statement because every skill removes just one stack, no matter how many times it hits. ”
and
“obal…
Broadicea.8294:
I always thought Smite was doing multiple shield ticks to the shield. Live and learn!
Smite works.”
So please explain to this blonde. Which one is correct? Isn’t smite a skill?
(edited by SkyChef.5432)
Back to the original topic, I just don’t understand why the anet staff doesn’t just turn to a few of the best players in all professions + game modes. It would only make sense.
Playing a game to the best demands a lot dedications. Anet empolyees might have a head start but the bulk of expertise still demands a lot hours dedicated to playing the game. They better off to offer the known experts a job than to promote from within.
…
And no offense, but I really see it as a beginner mistake if you have banner out of range against a non-moving enemy.
Obal also hang around with in game idiots like me to record things only in game idiots can do. Tell you the truth that I spent more time to make my characters looks prettier than to find out how far the range of the banner would extend. Once in awhile, I made some posts to fool you guys into thinking that I know something about the game, but actually I’m pretty much a lemming. My brain runs in auto mode when I play GW2 and that’s awesome. A game to play w/o really thinking and pay attention to details. At the expense of some fancy silvers & coppers.
Would I put a banner again out of reach the next time? Guaranteed it will happen once in a while again, whether Obal invited me for the next run or not. But I guaranteed you this. If GW2 shows me a way I could made $75/hr (I might or might not make that much $/hr in real life), I would pay extremely more attention to those little things.
So relax Weth, don’t get hang up on those little small things. We all know you are expert in this game and having a group of experts to record things as perfect as it could be. I’m just happy to pay more attention at something else at the expense of being called newbie in GW2.
Edited: I’m the prettiest blondie warrior in the recording. I don’t think she died once this time.

I don’t think it’s only pertained to Fractals. I’ve this problem yesterday in Arah. One time, I couldn’t switch my weapons even the switching icon was not greyed out and 1 attacking skill kept cycling. Moment later, I was disconnected. Reloged in, I was killed immediately by red geysers everywhere around me in Arah base camp, with no enemies around. Waypoint again to the camp wp, I traveled toward my party, got some actions together then I had the same problem as yours. My party reported that I just disappear but I was w/ them and seeing them running around looking for me. I could move and act, seeing them but they didn’t see me. Quit GW2, relog solved the problem.

Next patch, DS will teleport you to nearest mob. Or drop a zero.
PVT is cool only after playing berzerker all the time. You can afford dancing around, making mistake here & there and let your friends doing all the hard works, and rez them at the right time. And last one standing too. Just don’t let they know you wear PVT so transmute all your gears to CoF gears. Ugly but safe.
I think Lupi is about at the right level as it is right now. No need to change anything and no need to nerf anything.
For those who wanted to nerf this & that, there are 3 sources to this problem: Total magnitude of projectiles, Lupi’s health and reflection capacity. Now why is it to change one but not the others or all 3 togethers?
(edited by SkyChef.5432)
not sure if troll shielding…
.
…But I agree 100% with Byron, you can’t trust anything anyone says on these forums just b/c so few of the most vocal “Pros” ever volunteer or even RUN in pugs. They conveniently have their little private groups that maybe 1 or 2 of them ever puts out a video of which is always heavily edited as well….
The problem w/ pug is not about explaining what to do but explaining the same darn things over & over again when you run w/ different pug at different time on the same path. Then depending how thick one’s skull is, some day some one will decide that it’s just plainly stupid to keep doing so, so they will start getting their own cozy private friendly group.
That’s right. It’s $8 hard. No wonder they start giving free stuffs to make it even harder.
5 warriors a/s+gs probably.
No doubt. As you have said. About 1 min.
…
There are no pugs doing this to Lupi. It’s a handful of guilds competing for bragging rights. Changing this doesn’t change the game for anyone but those groups.
Actually, it won’t make a small dent of how these extreme skilled players will play. They will publish another videos showing how to kill Lupi the fastest w/o reflection then they go their own way. Those would hurt a lot are precisely those morons asking for the nerf and the populace mass because the current manageable content would be raised to a higher threshold.
OP,
Dungeon survival is based on these 4 elements:
1) Mob’s mechanics & boss animations before releasing attacking
2) Your skill level, gears and understanding of your class
3) Terrains to be utilized for your advantage whether it’s LoS (Line of Sight not Love of Sh**) or skipping.
4) The party
1) & 3) obviously require dungeon’s experience and memorization so you don’t need to be at level 80s to do that. There are plenty of video guides per dungeons so get yourself acquaintant to the dungeon you plan to run.
On 2) Assume you can dodge perfectly and know how to use class skills to counter threats, then you also do not need to be at level 80s to run a dungeon. The reason gears are there is to mitigate damage if we make mistakes. So the less skills you have, the more quality of gears you need to have to survive to a certain extent (unless you know some god mode). There are also plenty of videos of dungeons explain class mechanics and gears needed to counter mobs & bosses.
On 4) The higher skill level your party as a whole is, the easier the dungeon. And vice versa. And the skilled people willing to help isn’t hard to find. Just look at the sticky thread in this forum. Good thing is these people don’t ask you have to be in level 80s (unless it’s the appropriate level) or in better gears ( unless it’s a hard contents and Arah & FoTM level 40s are the only hard contents)
Now it should be easy for you to solve the problem yourself. If you are all inexperience and insist doing the inexperience way, just to make sure to having plenty of time for your runs. Or using #4 to make life easy while still on the job training. And use this .
(edited by SkyChef.5432)
GG When will it end!!
The day Solo shows up and Lupi gets an heart attack.
Is it a clunky design or there is a real reason for not being able to break auto-attack to dodge?
I wonder if you kick a PUG if he did that.
I’m stacking up sigils of perception for sale on a later day.
(edited by SkyChef.5432)
I agree that finesse is the top issue when dealing w/ Simins. No finesse, bring in the artillery.
Check this 9 mos old video, 2 thieves, 2 rangers, 1 ele They didn’t kill Simin with all the mistakes they’ve made (no finesse), but it’s within their dps reach to accomplish the task at hand. And that was before the patch.
(edited by SkyChef.5432)
This issue has been discussed so many times and those who brought it up mostly (maybe 99%) are those trying p4 the 1s time.
It’s not a bug. It’s the function of Simin’s regenerating health vs the damage against her within the time allowed before she becomes stealthy and regenerates again. The less time you have for damage and the less damage you have, the more problem you get yourself into.
If you don’t believe me, take 5 warriors in and you will never have that problem. Unless all 5 warriors died by her AoE attacks or waiting for the sparks to run in by themselves.
ugh it’s sooooo difficult to find a non warr/mes party
[thanks neigeux!]
ROFL IN ALL CAPITALS.
Maybe, it’s just a job security issue.
Don’t blame people who used mesmer skill to its fullest potential.
Blame the moron’s cavemen mentality. Instead of bringing everybody up, it’s easier to take everybody down. What’s an idiotic concept.
(edited by SkyChef.5432)
NA should be ashamed! Nice job again guys!
Not everyone chasing the same priority.
Regardless, it’s very, very impressive. Now I’m interesting about how long it would take 5 wars to do that. You guys should have enough experts in wars to do that w/o riding on the mesmer piggy back.
Rock will be in solid demand once Anet is done balancing. Every class will be equal in damage.
And skin drops at fotm level 40s has been improved from 1.1% to 1.15%, a whopping 50% drop increased in the fractional part. Fractal goers now reportedly are also 50% happier.
You want to play the way you wanted? Fine. What’s wrong w/ that?
Other people want to play the way they wanted? Fine. What’s wrong w/ that?
Oh, you want others to play the way you wanted. What’s a moronic idea.
Congrats. Just wonder how long it would take 4R/1M to do this.
I’m not here to ridicule people who present solid ideas w/ evidence to back it up. But I’m also not stupid or wide-eye ideological (believing into giving any idea a chance) to chase any bs idea throwing out even w/ a mathwork program backing it up, let alone some dumb excel statements.
Way before this happens, there were plenty of “scientists” believing the earth is flat and backing it up w/ their “excel” equations carving in stone. Then came Galileo.
Guanglai could be either one of those “scientist” or Galileo. If you ask me, I’m darn sure, the probability of him as a Galileo of GW2 is approaching to zero very rapidly. A ununoctium quality.

I have played w/ Roman for sometimes way before this thread and he’s a fine individual. He came from a military background so there is always a serious overtone. But internet communication doesn’t really relay the whole body language so it’s easy to misunderstanding due to misinterpretation.
Well, unless you are the master of the art like Eugene.
-snip-
Those videos were very illuminating, thank you. But there is still a lot room for improvement.
What for? Quite a few of us are just average players becoming friends, got together for a run. We’re not interested to spend inordinate hours to solo this, solo that, break this record, break that record, but rather having fun together. And the time we spent to clear the content isn’t that bad considering the time we spent to play for fun, relative to those who spent inordinate hours to improve their game.

My group usually has more guards so I often ran my war, and she is way under-reward for the fractals we ran, .ie. 20-30s at 38/48. And I got 10 skins, sword, ax, mace, rifle and even w/ 1 dusk on her runs. On the other hand,my guard at 48 and she got zip on everything she ran. Nothing. Just another meaningless anecdotal evidence.
You got a dusk on a fractal run?
Yes.

This is a 1 side story and I normally don’t give a freaking kitten about it. You never know the truth by listening to 1 side story. To whomever jumping to side by listening to a 1 side story, my advise to you is please don’t be a juror, if you are an adult. You will kitten up the case and might throw the innocent into jail.
Yeah, I know there are few cases of people doing skydiving and their parachute did not open but they still miraculously survived.
Range weapon usage for boss, according to me:
Must: Grawl Shaman last boss of fractal.
Acceptable: Mossman, Lupi, Ooze boss of arah p1, Kaisar of arah p4, Fractal Dregde last boss, Ascalon Last Boss, Cliffside Bosses.

This should get anet’s attention, and omg bears are so OP
As any “fake god” will do to please their children cavemen’s mentality, instead moving them up, Anet will bring everyone down to the cavemen’s level.
