Henge of Denravi Server
www.gw2time.com
the problem with the “world” thing is that it is logically confusing
in pve, we have mega server, everything is linked up
now, as a completely new player, i am told to pick a new world and these new worlds has high low medium population whatsoever. so, most new players who first entered the game will have this idea that whoever you see on your current map are all from that particular world.
new players do not know what the hell is mega server
then, we have many kind of guilds recruiting irresponsibility, some guilds just want to gain numbers, some guilds don’t care and just want to recruit for the sake of recruiting
with these two factors, many new players are being misled
anet shouldn’t make any individual choose their server at the start of the game but rather, make them choose server when they first step into the wvw
erm…
becoz ppl dont read recruitment spam in full and many newbies thought they are from xx server but reality is they are from other server, also, TS mentioned recruiting from pve maps but didn’t mention anything about pve players. in pve maps, there are ppl who do a bit of both and also ppl who want to get into wvw but prefer to get into it with a guild instead of solo
but no, showing too much details isn’t great UI unless there is a quick command to do a quick check on server but that might overload the gw2 server if ppl abuse it
why are rewards for killing so important to so many MMO players? isn’t winning enough of a reward?
i mean to me the biggest reward to WvW is that you get to do almost everything PvE and sPvP offer all in one area.that being said, i do agree that home servers should have # of accounts/players capped. and to spread players out more i would say that all servers should have the same cap until the population becomes balanced on all of them.
becoz…..coming from long history of mmorpg, i can say that..
in many hardcore mmorpg u need to farm to get great items and pking ppl becoz doing so give u something to get great items
rewards and more rewards becoz the players wan to be great
however, gw2 wants to be different and give everyone easy way out and here u have a casual populations becoz gw2 is so easy, anybody can juz survive the grinding and farming and reach the top with all the wonderful gears, now everyone thinks they are great because of the wonderful gears
rewards has always been the no.1 driving force for mmorpg
Karma train exist because loots and exp are shared.
the deve of gw2 must have not played mmorpg before =X
the bell isnt demanding as any rhythm game
it doesnt require u to hit the note exactly on the right timing, u cant get exact timing either due to the lag
it only require u to hit the note after it pass the line
i hope ppl realise that the complains doesnt reflect all of the community…
the ppl who are happy with the updates will not complain and also will do little to praise
the ppl who are unhappy with the updates will complain a lot
so, u see more complain posts than praising posts
however, i also wonder if anet is able to obtain accurate information of what majority wants….
I am a mesmer
:’)
this tell us one thing….
too casual mmorpg doesn’t work that good :’D
O.O
things dont stay the same though it is often that content get reused all the times
“play how i want” is different from “i want to get what i want as i please”
as many already mentioned
the game is more cpu hungry than gpu hungry
if you are using AMD processor, the performance wont be that good, test and proven
So uh, you are complaining that you get 10AP now from doing 3 dailies rather than 1 AP per each individual???
What’s your problem, bro? You get 70AP/week now with a fraction of the effort. How is this a bad thing in any way.
Log on, do 3 dailies, enjoy your 10AP and go do whatever the heck else you want to do with all of the free time you will now have. That additional 2AP/day you aren’t able to get now must have been your favorite APs…
You’re essentially saying “please give me more for not playing the game.” If they’re going to reduce the effort needed to attain something, anet should look at something meaningful like the insanity of the WvW achievements, not fixing a system that wasn’t broken.
exactly, anet is telling u to use those time u spent doing all those dailies in the past on getting the WvW achievements, now, go do them.
I don’t know why the white knights always rush in to defend the game on every issue. Often times with stupidity like, the daily is optional or so don’t do it. He wants to do it.
Honestly the old system gave you options, while this one forces your hand. I generally avoid vistas and siverwastes, yet I had to do it. Doable for me, but he’s underlevel. Yeah I did it, but I didn’t enjoy it. I liked the old dailies.
Solution, Throw a few of the old options into the mix. Choice is good.
being rational and reasonable is different from being white knight who defend for the sake of defending regardless is it right or wrong
one should put efforts to obtain the achievement and not the other way round. if ppl are complaining because achievement seems too difficult for them to do, then, too bad, achievement shouldnt be easy to do to begin with
if ppl are complaining that now it is much easier to get 10 ap compare to last time, that is legit complain
unfortunately to the complainers who complain becoz of the lack of choices and becoz of the lack of chocie, u cant get them done easily….
i like this daily achievements more
back to TS question, no, daily is according to the levels, logon a different level and u will see a different daily if any of the daily is not completable due to their lvl
(edited by SkyShroud.2865)
i dont understand
since when anet is forcing you to play other game modes, no one is forcing you to do the dailies in the first place. is it a must to do daily? NO.
if u wan the reward or ap, then do it, if u dunwan them, then dont do it. is a matter of choice. doing them or not doing them will not affect your chance to get ur laurel either, since laurel is not part of the daily task but daily logon task
wait…this is a thread?!
why did i received a PM of a thread in my personal mail, there is some forums bug here admin.
and then today that PM changed to yet another message….
in before ppl say wvw is not about loot….too late
ppl have to accept the fact that loots is another factor to motivate people
by having ppl doing for loots at the start, u will gain a sizeable number, when ppl starts to hate dying to ppl who are well-geared, they will start to gear up themselves
there is no such thing as one single solution…
u use one thing to solve another and what was solved may ended up solving other things
this was sent on 11th O.O
sorry, the system didnt alert me this mail till today
we only accept players from specific server because you cant do wvw with ppl of different server
support this
if there is a quick switch between different gears sets, that will be awesome additional
so many hard sellings when ts only asking abt if theres any sea presence outside of t1/t2
[TIME] is not a WvW guild but a large international PvX guild residing on Crystal Desert server. We have an average of 50 onlines on every SEA prime time, sometimes we have 80+ onlines, around 15-25 per raid, number varies depend on members’ mood swing. We raid 3 times per week for that timezone, many self proclaimed WvW guilds also raid that much per week so… If interested, drop me a PM.
wow, looking at ur APs in your signature, u have at least 6k APs more than me!
i can see why u are so angry when you dedicated yourselves to farming AP
the reason I do achievements is because it gives me directions or goals on what I can do in the game, but unlike you, I don’t do all the dailies because I am more of a realistic and practical person
i hoping anet can put in more realistic and practical contents, not just contents that grindy yet so meaningless to grind
expansion means huge changes or new contents
gw2 want to try consistent contents but the consistent contents isnt moving that fast =X
is nice to see there is a variety of dailies and becoming more rewarding
The problem since day 1 has always been rewards. Why bother coming in WvW when PvP offers a far more balanced (lol…) playing environment and rewards you 10x better for your time and effort than WvW does? It’s the same excuse in EotM… same overall format, 5x the reward. And PvE too… invest half the time and effort, get more rewards for that effort.
Rewards…rewards…rewards…
The next problem with WvW is it’s worthless. The only reason to do it is for the lawlz. Not only because of the lack of rewards, but because there’s no lasting benefit for doing well. No lasting hindrance for doing poorly. Heck, there’s no real server identity outside of WvW anymore thanks to mega servers. The whole format is worthless. There needs to be more to WvW than logging in, playing for 30-60mins before you’re bored, then sitting around afk talking to people over guild chat. What made frontiers such a valuable part of DAoC? Why was sieging enemy towns such a driving force in Shadowbane? Why did we want to attack keeps and towers in WAR? Why don’t I care if I log into WvW or not?
The last thing is overall balance. I’ve played the game for 2 years and never once heard a commander ask for more Rangers or Engineers. I’ve heard them ask for a Mesmer (singular). I’ve heard them ask for a Thief (singular) to perma stealth to res said mesmer. Half the classes have nothing to offer other than yak slapping?
Rewards, purpose, and balance… that’s what we need most of all. Stale maps, stale gameplay, and stale strategy can be solved second.
exactly. all pvpish mmorpgs have rewards and purposes for their large scale pvp related contents. why do players raid and why do they defend, because if they raid successful they gain rewards that otherwise cannot be gained elsewhere, they defend unsuccessful, they lose things which affect them directly.
but we must all not forget one thing, gw2 is a game designed for casuals and thus very forgiving in everything. i think anet will find it difficult to find ways to provide greater rewards between offensive and defensive.
If server mergers happen I’d say the bottom 9 NA servers and the bottom 12 EU servers should be merged. For EU there is still a lot of life left in the servers down till #15 (Aurora Glade).
less server -> less maintenance for ANET -> win for everyone
less servers -> bad publicity -> loss for Anet
this thread itself is bad publicity for anet
potential customer read it >thinks anet is not doing enough for the game > dont buy the game :’D
yes, the game is built for casuals including casuals who thinks they are hardcore :O
the entire game itself is very forgiving, too forgiving in fact. the idea of challenge is not about the mere difficulty of completing certain things but more on the need to complete them carefully because failure will lead to irreversible damage.
yes, bug is bug, it must be reported and fixed regardless if it just some small silvers.
though the dev most likely will just categorize it as minor bug which will never be fixed
same here…
i am both the creator & leader of 2 guilds
one is personal guild, another is 500-men guild
i can access personal guild bank
not the 500-men guild bank
servers merge is unlikely to happen as there are significant number of players refusing to let go of the current servers…
to merge servers is to accept the fact that all existing communities be destroyed and erased, servers are merged thus new servers are born, new communities will then be built
hahah, the “trend” has always been there just that it is more common now
I am pretty sure this is reported before….but lets report it again.
Is the solo pvp leaderboard bugged? Why are there people with single digit wins and single digit loses up there? Some of them have more loses than wins too. Some of the people with double digit wins and double digit losses didn’t play for months and still up there, shouldn’t these people gradually drop in ranks as other chased up their rating and be replaced by them?

and we all know is impossible to satisfy everyone :’)
I hope we can raid other guilds’ guild halls.
New players shouldn’t be forced to select a server to begin with. Many have no idea what they are choosing.
Choosing a server should be done ingame, when the new players have better understanding of the game.
The idea of choosing server at the start isn’t that important any more because PvE is now megaserver.
still waiting for anet to fix year old bug
Hi, my guild is a 100% rep guild, by most standard, it is considered a large guild. You want a huge guild where people loosely knows each other, I do not understand what it means by “loosely knows each other”.
The thing is that, recruitment isn’t hard, is true. There are tons of people to recruit out there.
Just like timmyf.1490 mentioned, it is important to choose the people you can trust to be officers and these people must be willing to put in some efforts to perform their duties. Many large guilds fall for several reasons, some of them fall because they chose the wrong people to trust.
You need to identify the type guild you are trying to create and from there, work towards that direction. If you want to improve the social interaction within the guild, you have to be the one doing it, social interactions are always started by the founders and carried on by the members.
100% rep rules are mainly for guilds who have become so large that the slots become very limited. There are also many guilds who create their form of 100% rep, for example, some WvW guilds expect you to rep them when you are in WvW, that in way is a 100% rep but limited to WvW map.
All new guilds adapt a semi-rep rules standard, you can work on what type of rep standard you want. Most importantly, you need to have a concrete idea on how to transit the guild on every stage. Small guild to medium guild to large guild, each stage has a transition progress, rules and procedures will need to change and adapt for different stage. At all of these stages, you will need to understand that there will be people who will resist the changes, especially some of your older members, if you don’t convince them the changes are necessary, they will become a problem. Also, if you need to discipline individuals for their actions then just do it, do not let individuals going around stirring troubles because these troubles can easily grow and become a real problem for your guild.
A large guild is not easy to manage so don’t try unless you knows what you are doing.

is it wrong to wear a slightly torn hat? =,=
Indeed. Enrage timer will naturally force people to go towards a direction which I believe, the deve wanted to avoid. High level skill is great but it naturally accompanied with gears and traits to meet that demand. I am being practical here, not idealistic. Let say you enter a raid, what are your raid leader going to do? He gonna check gears and roles, if raid size is limited, then the weaker players will be not allowed to participate.
Unless the raids are designed to be progressive, it gets more difficult as you go. Then, maybe the players skill can slowly progress with that as well. The raid can double up as a form of training to improve one’s skill.
PS: i didn’t read the entire thread, if someone already suggested the raids to be progressive, then, please ignore this post.
Hi, I mentioned this in my first post a few moments ago. I could be out of date as well as this mind set that we were given early on…but isn’t the entire game ‘endgame’ ? Hop in, do whatever you want to do. No pressure, nada. Take your time, the whole thing is your oyster. When you start creating level 80 content only, ala raids, you segregate the playerbase much like other games where its then a rush to max level to do the raids. All of the gorgeous 1-80 content you have in this game becomes completely trivial and a stepping stone to the real game. You might as well just allow people to boost to 80 via potions or something and skip leveling all together because it becomes absolutely meaningless. A meaningless time sink. I didnt need 80 levels to learn my class. Maybe less than two dozen and I had it down. The rest was just enjoyment because the 1-80 content was nice. I leveled through it without any pressure. Put max level content in the game, and we will feel rushed to get to the real stuff. Its human nature.
For this reason, I do not think raids belong in GW2. But if they are to be implemented, I do have suggestions which I have shared
I bolded a section of this that I wanted to inquire about. Do you think the fact the game has been live for over 2 years now change your thoughts on this? This is definitely a common occurrence with new MMO’s that launch with raiding, but what about a game that didn’t launch with raiding? Is there still an issue of players “rushing to 80” when a large percentage of the player base already has at least one 80? Thoughts?
That will depends on how the raid contents is created. You can create a raid content based on existing maps. Much like your personal story which often send you to special instance on existing map.
Also, I doubt the raid contents will have rewards that not already existed in the game. I believe anet mentioned that ascended will be the final tier, I read a news somewhere. So, gears grade are fixed, will there really be a rush to go to level 80? Currently, majority of the players themselves already demanding level 80 for dungeons and WvW. Players are already creating that pressure to newbies to level to 80 fast via any fast methods.
I have also experienced lag, what makes the lag frustrating is that it isn’t delay but it is a spike.
experienced player complaining about how “nonsense” it is fight with limited skills, so that what it means to be experienced, interesting.
Wow, so many pages already!
Types of Raiding
There are many types of raiding, which one are we discussing specifically?
Good Evening,
A couple of things.
1: The next phase of the CDI will be delayed until this weekend or Monday due lack of available time on my part.
2: whilst I am very much looking forward to the raid discussion and chatting with you all about it I do want to make it clear that this last CDI has been excellent, with maturity and collaboration throughout. So to be clear unnecessary comments about ‘True Gamers’, ‘Elitists’ and ‘Dress Up Players’ won’t be tolerated.I just want to make this clear so we can all have a healthy discussion and design out a Raid System proposal that is born out of GW2’s core mechanics, personality and community passion.
Looking forward to having a great discussion with you all.
Chris
Yay! Guild Raid!
It is great know there might be guild related raid contents! Currently, the only few activities that is capable of handling a large number is WvW, open-world PvE and guild missions. Currently, the number of guild-wide activities to do is very limited.
I don’t particularly have any top 3 choices because any combinations of the 3 choices will not make the guild hall awesome.
I am hoping that the guild hall will not become just yet another decorative building that doesn’t serve any meaningful purpose.
Bad approach.
I think the currency exchange need to be designed as followed.
Previously, for converting gold into gem, we need to input certain amount of gold to obtain certain amount of gems. It can be improved such that we can input the amount of gem and it show us the amount of gold it cost. Likewise, for gem to gold conversion.
Right now, yes, we can all see how much gem it cost for how much gold and vice verse. However, the flexibility to exchange the amount of gold or gems is gone! I like that flexibility, I want that flexibility.
Then, the graph, the graph is useful to people who knows how to read it, who knows how to read the trend. Now, if anet wants to remove the graph then anet need to set a FIX RATE, otherwise, put the graph back.
Proposal Overview
Boss spawn at Guild hall’s yard
Goal of Proposal
Small random events in the area of guild hall, to encourage players to visit the hall occasionally.
Proposal Functionality
This is one of the function a guild hall has in other game that I had played. They simply allow bosses to spawn in their yard.
In guild wars 2 context, perhaps, by killing the bosses, you will get bonus chest per day. As for the rewards, maybe guild related stuffs or rares or chances of ascended chest. Also, the usual champ box for killing boss.
Associated Risks
Players might start creating a chain of guilds purely for the purpose of killing bosses. However, limiting the bonus chest to once per day will reduce that risk.
There might be complains from small guilds on not able to kill the bosses and having to import mercenaries to do so.
PS: Teehee, finally posted this, was busy with my own things.
