Perhaps make the raid rewards similar to dungeons. First run through gets you to 50-60 shards. After finishing the raid you have the option to reset your individual progress locking all checkpoints again and each clear following the first gives 10 shards spread between successful checkpoint clears. (2 for vg, 1 for spirit woods, 3 for gors, 4 for sabetha) With the requirement that you must finish all checkpoints before you can reset them.
you can’t skip coe anymore
Were res orbs disabled in dungeons? Or did they actually sequence the events?
There was an 8man gors kill by APEX with a condi tempest. https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/45o57m/apex_8_man_no_updraft_gorseval/
Build is in the description as well as a variant by KING, no idea which is better but you can look through the armour/runes/sigils and see which as coming out as more damage for the utility it’s providing.
I’ll repeat myself, the only encounter in this raid wing at the moment which suffers from to high dps skipping designed boss skills is Goreseval due to developer oversight. Something I do believe should be fixed.
You no more skip skills on gors than on sab or vg by doing high damage. If she dies earlier and doesn’t use her last flamewall, have you skipped anything at sabetha? Have you skipped anything at vg if you have 4 minutes left and he didn’t cast 12 other greens? Have you skipped anything at gors if you miss a cc phase? Or if you dps past a world eater? His important phases he goes invuln for, if being forced to interact with certain mechanics was required, you’d be seeing an invuln phase for it where you have no choice BUT to deal with it.
Did you know if you do enough dps at sabetha you don’t have to kill some cannons 4 times?
Hahaha, checkmate.
joaosequeira.2184 and Mortifer.2946 are at max guilds, otherwise invites are up-to-date
Maybe the thread title should be changed from just dungeon mentoring? It may have been removed by a mod who came through for clean up. Could title the thread as Dungeons, Fractals & Raids Mentoring to match the sub-forum :P
Worse/better depending on group support. Last time I looked engi and necro were ahead, but warrior banners are very powerful as well as it having a simpler rotation. Likewise condi druid is below, but it brings gotl, spotter, sun spirit, etc… plus group wide healing.
Can you play a piano? How good are you/your group at keeping enemies in various sizes of fields? What classes are already being brought? What is the instability? Which fractal shard is it? What kind of tactics are you running? All of these questions can affect the choice of which is best.
Oh god, I hate seeing 7 ppl looking for sab in the lfg menu and no1 just invites them all and starts a group.
That being said, start by choosing 2-3 classes, look at what they bring to raids and try and get them into ascended weps/trinkets as well as stocking up on their relevant food choices. Look at videos, review them, check boss mechanics, ask around for tips, then go into groups who are looking for a couple more, tell them you’re new and practice the kitten out of the mechanics. On the way to vg, practice seeker control, dps rotations, all that jazz under some pressure. Give groups warning if you’re new to a boss, and start with something like, “If I’m the first to die 3 times feel free to replace me”, so they don’t feel obligated to bring you, or get angry that you may have lied to get into the group.
And last but certainly not least, if you’re having problems, speak up and ask, I hate staring at people fail mechanics, but not taking every opportunity to improve and overcome them. If you’re in an experienced group, they’d rather take 1min to explain something then spend 3-4 boss pulls while you figure it out on your own.
Guilds are also good, look for ones that are in some way dedicated to raiding so you know that the people in it are actually interested in putting together groups in the first place.
It’s currently unavailable, gw2dps was previously the name for frifox’s dps meter.
Previously?
Well, you didn’t have a fancy website for it and the meter we’re referring to doesn’t exactly fit under the “legal dps meter” description on the website. So it previously and currently refers to a different meter by you. :P

Engi/necro, warrior/ranger/thief, guard/rev/mes/ele? Something like that, also look at what type of support each build is bringing. Engis have blinds, stealth, projectile defenses, small group heals. Necro has projectile defenses, VA, etc… Warriors bring banners. Ranger has CA, other buffs. Look at the condi builds for classes, and pick one based on playstyle, damage you expect from it and group support potential.
Does anyone here know that eles can copy up to 80secsonds of fury off themselves onto their party? Check out that heat sync skill on warhorn.
AC yes, CM yes, TA yes, SE pretty sure yes(never bothered), CoE pretty sure yes(you can always break out and skip to the last boss), CoF yes, arah yes(was this updated to not have pressure plates? maybe not.), HotW yes.
Thief and ele can roll through trash mobs with ease, warrior is strong as well with lots of self buffing. Engineer is also strong, necros can be pretty tanky. The other classes I haven’t dealt with in a while minus guardian, but I’ve only really taken that when I’m in projectile heavy dungeons.
The channel isn’t even an issue, even if 1 stack is applied 3seconds after another, you’ve still gained the benefit of a 3% boost for 8 seconds. The only issue that comes into play is when it gets rotational, in which case you have to account for which 80% of your rotation has gotl, is it all of your big skills? or a bunch of autos(lel, thief)?
Condi druid is pretty good, I’d assume you just played it badly if you didn’t find it useful in certain circumstances.
10/10 description on healing there too. Drop this, drop that, you realize all classes press buttons to use their skills, even if guardians were instead putting out better heals?
It’s currently unavailable, gw2dps was previously the name for frifox’s dps meter. There is a website that you can subscribe to for an email when the website is updated with its intended functionality. Until then you can see if you can find one of the members from the video who is willing to speak more about it.
Since it seems to be based off the combat log, I’d assume it has some of the issues Jaxnx has.
In the video the total condi dps seemed, low. The passive procs from other classes + a condi engineer seemed like it would have ended up with a higher number.
Utility skills actually aren’t supposed to use your wep str, they have their own innate utility wep str that is used.
Ironically I’ve already stripped most of my gear off my rev because FoN really isn’t keeping rev in the pve meta.
if i press 6,7,8,9 from signet it does not change…after 2sec it goes back to signet again so for example i cant have stacking speed
This is a bug with entering and leaving water. If you’re encountering this swap glint to another legend(don’t legend swap) then re-equip it.
In response to this reddit thread, his statement is correct(at least rift slash/prec strike).
My attacks were varying by around 10% regardless of ascended vs basic quality swords on the same target(difference of 53 power of 2556(2%)). Ascended has almost double the weapon strength as basic. It’s definitely not taking the mainhand sword as the weapon strength.
Ele is an easier class to heal due to their healing not being gated mainly behind astral energy, but the amount of group support that Druid brings is waht also gives it an edge over ele for their sustained healing.
Idk, quickdrawing ancestral grace is pretty sick heals, especially if you put down a healing spring, which also gives permanent regen(75% astral force regened by the time the cd comes off). CA cd is the only thing that can gate druid heals, and you can just slot glyphs out the kitten and spam them for burst heals and gotl buffs while waiting on CA.
I made 2 carrion daggers for my thief when ascended came out, now I only use that thief to craft ascended for other characters. How far we’ve come.
I will tell you what other people keep repeating to me:
Raids are supposed to be cleared only by the best players. If you can’t do it, you are just not good enough and you should play fractals instead. Also, any tools like improved lfg, easy mode, or practise mode would completely negate what raids are about.….with their comments about “bucket of tears” I think the raid dev team shares this ideology with them.
You know the best players got to the top by practicing right? This is a thread dedicated to ideas about helping players/groups have the ability to get more practice on their own time. How is your comment even relevant?
Side note, a practice mode is identical to the raid itself, you just don’t get rewards, the same way you get nothing after clearing the raid the first time(shards not included). It’s no different than having a player with the correct checkpoint opening an instance for you, it’s just a QoL change for those who want to get better.
You sound like some college student with too much time on your hands and a fancy computer!!!!
Don’t forget those lazy experimental remnants.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Experimental_Remnant
They could just remove the timer and have you wipe at 8mins regardless.
They could just really immerse the kitten out of you and have vale guardian peace out and go hide in a random pillar in tarir and have the spirit woods never open.
The timers just tell how long you have to accomplish the given task. Some people prefer to see the exact time they have remaining, others prefer to have a bunch of screaming spirits walk up behind them and down them in 1 hit. Whatever floats your boat, if its a problem you can turn off your HUD.
d/w warhorn eles share their fury to their party with fire 4, cough 2 eles, cough, sabetha, cough.
I’d be looking forward to a reduction in AA damage and a buff to HS/BS personally, there is nothing fun about mashing 1.
Ctrl + Mouse 2 says hello
Chrono + ps war with fried dumplings will cover almost all of your buffs, grab a condi druid and 2 condi engis and you can roll through all of the above ground fractals.
With the toughness scaling, hitting the 50 mark is taking ~27% off of power classes dps. If you can find them, condi classes can achieve equal damage easier, and you can be comfortable in tankier gear on condi classes because the lost power/prec is relatively little damage.
And for fractals where enemies can get protection, condi becomes so much better.
I came, I saw, I lol’ed. This is like raiding with pugs, where everyone just complains and no1 asks what is actually going wrong or if anyone can give them some advice.
Considering that fresh air eles drop lightning fields every 6 secs, I don’t think a light field will really matter.
A couple raid groups want gear checks, though if you’re going into raids, bringing ascended trinkets and weapons too (in general) is a personal recommendation I’d make. If they really insist on ascended armour, it’s fine to head out and find a different group, if a couple percent is what the group is demanding to get through bosses, they probably aren’t comfortable with encounter mechanics and are just rolling rng on whether or not people make few enough mistakes to get through.
They don’t, the mobs just have ridiculous toughness levels anyways. At 50 archdiviner has ~3600 toughness. Power classes just get a big nerf to damage. And if you play any fractal where the enemies get boons, then prot is taking off 33% of your damage after toughness takes off so much.
Craft a set of trailblazer ascended armour, it’s a barely noticeable damage loss for condi builds, ppl love that kitten in wvw, and you can condi tank raid bosses or sabetha it won’t matter(as long as you know how to press buttons in a somewhat optimal order.
If the mobs do not have stability, just buff boons left right and centre and cc them. Even if its a boss, quite frankly just put on some prot and run condi builds.
Ascended over exotic is going to be a tiny difference, your heals will be a dozen higher, if you need something functional a quick exotic set works fine.
The big reason druids are brought over eles is because they have gotl, frost spirit, spotter and empowerment glyph, so they can provide a similar heal role as well as buffs. Some people say ele has better heals, some say druid, I have no idea, but I’ve seen both work in successful kills on all the bosses, so, ya.
If you’re going for a d/? aura healer, zealots is pretty good because you can create auras every 10secs or so by finishing air overload which also happens to be strong damage(if you have fresh air). If you’re going staff and throwing out healing projectiles zealots probably won’t be a big boost, likewise druid going from magi/cleric → zealot isn’t a big boost, though it is more damage no matter what if you’re looking for the optimal healing focused set(zerk or condi not included).
Engineer and Ele just has the highest dmg atm with the nerf to burnzerkers.
With the over 3k toughness bosses have, engi and necro are coming out on top for damage, with condi warrior/ranger/guard etc up there. With fried dumplings and quickness a PS war gets out 25 might without the rev boon duration, and you can take something like a ranger to give out some group fury at the start of or during fights.
No-glide gors would be a good example of regulated dps. You either phase him before a 2nd world eater, or just after it has started. Hitting that middle ground ends up wiping your team while he is invuln.
Just like speed clearing dungeons allowed for different tactics than running through with a pug, you had to hit certain break points in terms of dps to use some strategies.
I’m playing viper/sinister necro, and i’m liking it much more then engie. Engie has not so good (condi wise) auto attacks, and relies on cooldown spamming. I know the rotations very well, but even then you sometimes mess up. Add to that the breakbar/seeker mess sometimes and engie dps drops down the drain.
Look how engineer grenades interact with their traits, it generates quite a bit of bleeding.
The other thing to note about breakbar/seekers on VG is that 1 engi can cover green circles, 90% of the seeker CC and keep most of its high damage skills on cd by stepping into melee range briefly between greens.
You mean those strategies where you actually do damage to the boss to reduce his health bar? Is that the meta you are referring to? What other strategy would they be fine tuning….singing to the boss until it gives up?
Bard specialization confirmed for mesmer?
You can just have 1-2 engineers put down healing turrets to absorb some of his damage and provide heals every 15secs or less, I pugged a 56,67,77 after the patch with the group filling in ~1min and no problems with either boss(minus some dude who got one-shot and we 4manned 77).
If you guys are really having trouble you can always bring a druid
I usually just interview people, and see if they’re able to expand upon dealing with boss mechanics besides. “I have eternal”. Then when they step inside I just watch people go through the fight and help them deal with mechanics more efficiently, rather than whining about people failing like half the groups seem to do.
Frifox used his dps meter which read game files for over 2 years(that part of the ToS that everyone brings up), and he did eventually get banned.
For fly hacking. Because mesmers don’t have a leap skill like other classes. Because he wanted to test mesmer coefficients to create a spreadsheet he gave others free access to to improve on their knowledge of mesmer potential.
No one has reported being banned for using a dps meter.

Monday morning at 12:30am pst.(pdt?) whatever timezone west coast US is.
Can they be placed in-between the wall and middle for better results?
Yes, likewise banners should be placed in the direction you’re moving so you take advantage of the buffs for longer.
Most groups already bring enough buffs for each group to cover itself, and putting the druid in a specific party allows you to tailor who their buffs are going to. Because heals go to players that need them, him being in a group will only alter where the GotL stacks are going when people are taking lots of damage.
In general the druid being in a group allows your damage to be higher by prioritizing them to whoever takes the most advantage.
During the last 33% blues are spawned under each person every ~10 secs. Stay out of the green circle until it is half done then step in for the last 2secs. You can also dodge across the diameter of the green circle and still count for damage reduction while evading the teleport, blocks work, any evade works, distortion works, aegis works. Just don’t try to aegis 2 blues.
Dusk has been saying for weeks this was supposed to be patched with the 26th update, how did we get another thread on this.
So is this an arguement about what number is showing as the duration for intensity stacking conditions?
Your eles are putting themselves out of position, make sure they are in range of enough might(next to a ps war works great) and plenty of fury. The ele can rotate around the centre of the arena and stay in range of nearby buffs while throwing max range lava fonts.
Optimized build, life steal food, terrible utility, 25 might + fury will clear an orb per lava font, have your eles keep checking in all directions with a large FoV to work on orbs as they spawn rather than trying to play catch-up.

Go explosives/firearms/scrapper, throw on some rabid and stay with the condi engi builds, you only sacrifice a bit of damage. Scrapper tanks biggest strength is slick shoes and some aoe heals as well as the minimal damage loss that all condi tanks bring.
