Was is the commonly accepted as best squad formation for raids? Two parties of five? Two parties of 4 and a party of 2? Where do you put the unique classes like chrono/druid?

Since raids are farmed now’s the best time to ask for insights.

Parties of 5 to sort out boons/buffs to the most relevant players.

Right now there’s very little (if any) wiggle room for build diversity. Most groups won’t even take one fully bunkered up tank or a fully geared healer.

VG has around 3 minutes of wiggle room.

Putting marauder armour/weps on an ele is something like 7% dps loss for a lot of hp gain, there is a lot of wiggle room there, you just can’t sacrifice stat loss, bad rotations and lack of group support. And you can add on latency and encounter knowledge + group synergy as important things you need to address when failing.

Excessive damage in raids

The week after, can’t stay on my feet worth a kitten . Same raid party, same healer. Getting 2-3 shot by single red orbs and taking damage when moving to other colors during the split phase when my specific boss is down.

Anyone else experiencing this?

Orbs 2-3 shotting any of the dps classes is normal, that’s why you have people like engis playing pinball throughout the fight. Taking damage has always occured, you get ~5k ticks as a dps class, having the correct attunement for a boss reduces it to ~25%, as soon as you move into another colours ring you will take full damage since you can’t reattune.

Yes I experience this, yes I also avoid most of this and work around the mechanics.

Timers are in place to require you to run a somewhat glassy setup and engage with the boss mechanics in a noticeable way.

Raids if all goes well will be available tomorrow. Whatever class you want. The last boss is “tuned” for ascended, and I use this loosely because player skill and group synergy play more of a roll than putting on ascended gear.

And if this was intentional, please tell my why, like did a lot of people want faster explosions that you can’t almost even see and the cave trolls rumble sound to skill 2.

Yes, an engineer could completely cover a boss in explosion effects making skilled group play very hard, especially with 10 ppl going into raids. So the effects were turned down to make boss tells somewhat easier to see, unfortunately, in groups you still can’t see the tells with all of the effects created, especially under quickness.

I think problem is not who would play thief.

But what raid group that wants to win, would let you play thief.

Or rather, what group would not be only Guardian/Ele/Mesmer + “Tanks” + “Healers” which are in those 3 as well.

If raids are all about synergy why would you take any other class other than those 3? Maybe warrior for tank and ranger for heal, but very specific jobs for specific fights, the core will always be those 3, mostly guardian/ele, mesmer is just there for the niche.

Revs have better buffing in glint. Warriors have massive unique buffs, rangers have large unique buffs(ranger also has strong heals). Engi has the deeps. Thief has mobility, but chronos have better group mobility with being able to drop so many portals, so it depends on if you need 1 person there really really quickly, or your whole group there moderately quickly.

You’re from DnT don’t you know what masteries are required? The info in those links is vague.

We don’t have the devs stop by our voice comms server and tell us about upcoming releases.

It was stated that you would need to jump off a boss platform and use gliding to avoid a one shot mechanic(2nd or 3rd boss, maybe not even this wing). We know there are mushrooms in the vale guardian area for movement speed boosts/attack speed boosts.

The hardest thing in this game for tank is to hold agrro and generate threat. Would like to see some passive from skill/talent tree that reduce incomming damage and generate more threat from attacks. Giving every class option to taunt would be great too, but every npc should have DR for taunt so you would not play ping pong with him.

Highest toughness gets aggro. So far.

No, raid bosses aggro to high toughness so that you have boss control. What you do with the mechanic is up to you.

It prioritizes group members first, no idea about how boons get spread based on current duration/stack count.

How does the party structure work in a raid ?
Is it a 10 man party or two parties of 5 ?

With enhanced squad UI you can create custom subgroups that buffs are prioritized to. So you can make a group of 3, and a group of 5 with the other 2 getting whatever else overflows in terms of buffs.

Besides being unable to remove it fast enough, does it help provide additional damage that helps push dps numbers up by a bit?

Condi builds already push out ridiculous dps and ignore all those boons, if you can remove boons and lose nothing else in an encounter, go for it. If not, just bring condi classes.

The main problem with power builds is high toughness and prot, but getting the prot off is too hard with all the other boons generated, and high toughness can’t be removed. So condi and ignore it just becomes the best choice.

I don’t know of any skill other than overloading attunements, where the channeltime is 4s and you have to be in melee range.

You only overload 1 attunement at the start of the fight, if the situation is correct.

This also has nothing to do with skill level. If imbued shaman decides to put a firestorm on you, then you might want to get out of it. If mossman does his port and his double-hit, then you might want to dodge.

Sure, but you could have just baited the firestorm out at range, stepped out of it, received passive heals from another class and basically ignored the skill while allowing your melee users to stay in melee range.

So the question is, “If you’ve failed to control the situation, or an action occurs which you can’t counter, how much is your dps dropping by and how does this drop compare to other classes that might have been taken instead of you?”

The question is not as simple as, what happens in a real fight. Knowledge of encounters and personal skill with low latency are miles apart from just pressing 1,2,3,4,5 then swapping to the next attunement and doing it again.

I suspect you’re either grossly overestimating elementalist DPS, underestimating Revenant DPS, or you’ve found some secret Tempest build that I don’t know about that deals like twice as much as the old staff ele build.

Tempest is a lot better than the old staff ele.

Against a hotm-golem for sure, but what about real fights where you have to dodge some times?

You can apply this question to any class. A better question would be by how much does the dps of an ele drop when they dodge, and in comparison to the dps drop of other classes, as well as the delay before the drop is noticed(condi), is the difference between 2 classes dodging at various times in their rotations negligible? Or at what skill level do you and your party need to be playing at to negate the difference?

It doesn’t matter if toys are disabled in raids, you can’t use them in combat. You’re entering the raid to kill a boss, not run down a set of stairs fast enough to kill yourself.

Small tiny, tiny issue. A condi user can kill the blighted avatars spawned by mordremoth after they go invuln and/or after they become your ally, thereby bugging the instance.

And mordremoth can proceed to destroy a section of the platform underneath the rift also blocking progress, occurred when my glider failed to activate in mid air and I was stuck in his AoE, then respawned.

You can lifesteal him to death though, so you know, at least magi gear can stand still and eventually finish the fight.

The molten facility weapons testing part; the engine thing or whatever it is you are attacking, the structure thing engineer grenades still do not hit this thing like ever although thats true with most structures. The engine thing also has way too much hp, this part of the fractal is a joke no matter how much hp the thing has and I think it should be reverted instead of having the now mandatory condi players to respec their whole kittening build just to kill a box

Grenades hit it, aim at the ground not the generator.
And bombs have higher coeff/second than grenades except for shrapnel/freeze/barrage.

rabid is about 7% dmg loss from sinister, but gives the equivalent of protection when comparing survival against pure damage attacks

definitely avoid structures on rabid though, or get another set and swap out for encounters

if you’re really having problems, dire engi is about 20% dmg loss from sinister, but is ridiculously tanky

A note to add, the hit comes near the end of the animation, you are able to precast gravedigger from a distance and step into melee range to land the strike.

Can’t the Druid run Salamander/Ice Drakes for tanking? Loads of Toughness, Vitality and access to Burning Burst with the Salamander, and Chill from Ice Drake for bearing down the Defiance bar.

Your tank needs to move the boss in specific directions at specific times, using the AI might not be… recommended.

So my question is, in reality, how much damage is a sinister engi really doing?

As far as I understand, weapon skills + grenade kit is about on par with ranger condi atm. Bomb kit is icing on the cake. And engi is one of the most affected classes by alacrity/quickness off chronomancers because of all the cooldowns it uses and shrapnel procs in grenade kite.

Interesting, I don’t play ranger. Why do people want it? spotter and frost spirit, CC bot?
Or preparing druid for hard encounter? is druid better than the base ranger?

Ranger’s support is inferior to other support, though they can be good dps, but they are not meta material.

Ranger brings a 10% multiplier to condi/physical damage, spotter, frost spirit, sun spirit or storm if needed, lots of fury, fire fields if condi. They will quite probably be taken on teams now because of competitive damage, strong buffs and support.

Guard has about the same amount of quickness up time as a mesmer, considering the strong presence of a Revenant in the group. Guard has much better burst damage than a mesmer if your group is organized enough to annihilate everything within 30 seconds..

Chronos are ridiculously strong since they can get 3 phantasms up then shatter and still have them up, as the mob stats get higher and fights extend, the burst damage in 10-15 secs probably won’t matter. Plus slow, and alacrity is very strong in fights up to 30secs, engis pretty much turn shrapnel grenade/fire bomb into their auto attack, warriors get extra HB/WW, ranger charges astral faster.

They haven`t actually given a specific date for the first release, it was a general, “a few weeks after launch” will be when the first wing comes out. They did say they wanted the other 2 wings in the first raid out by late december/early next year. Absolutely no idea about a schedule since we have nothing to base inaccurate guesses on.

Crystal already stated they designed the last boss for ascended quality, and that the first is exotic with skill/ascended. Considering during the beta the teams had over a minute left with bad food, no masteries and subpar play, the margin on at least the first boss is pretty large

Dungeons give ridiculously high gold rewards compared to all other sources, pvp matches can take up to 15mins give you 30s for a ranked win and the matches last up ~12mins not including lose rate. You can get 1g/5mins with a good dungeon group. Champ bags give what, 2.5s per? and you get a bunch of champ bags in dungeons too, the actual gold being put into the economy is much higher than any other source.

The company isn’t necessarily making decisions for one reason, they’re just making decisions to solve as many of their problems at once, whether you think those are actually problems or not is something you might want to ask John, or someone else who makes big decisions/implements them/figures out the outcomes for.

If you have 2 eles you really shouldn’t be prestacking, you can go eruption dragon tooth pheonix lava font and put all the fury stack into your opening rotation. If you don’t need deep freeze you can pick up arcane wave for in-fight fury/might, plus arcane brilliance if you need.

If stacking is stopped by implementing player collision, the time to complete a dungeon would be greatly increased. Those players who speed run by bypassing mobs will not get the treasure rewards from killing the mobs. It’s a simple solution that leaves dungeons worthwhile to play, but keeps people from getting all the loot in ten minutes.

Optimal tactic is to not stack, there goes the first idea. Considering the drops from mobs are terrible, speed running for a reduced reward would still be the best choice, or do something else if the nerf is big enough.

Ele’s need to be able to prestack fury before fights

Might stacking doesn’t really do much, especially if you have a skilled ps war. At most you throw 2-3 quick blasts into a field just before lightning storm.

So i ran a fractal, it was a 50 with “How experienced are you?” as the description, went pretty well, we hit mai trin. I pull her into some fields, grenades were thrown, she phases.

4 random pugs managed about 90% stealth time during all 4 cannon phases and left me to kite.

They’re evolving, or they just trust my guild tag enough to not kitten up kiting the cannons, either way I was pretty impressed with this new innovation in pug tactics.

And also time gated to once per WEEK.

Each boss is once per week, if they stay to their plan of adding up to 6 wings in a year(if people enjoy raids) then you’re getting 40-45mins(if you’re doing everything on farm mode) x 3 wings at at least 2.5 hours a week by december, and more every 2 months.

If you’re really running out of time on just raids, you can start doing 8man completions and selling legendary armour crafting mats for piles of gold.

They have a dungeon team, they are just focusing on ten man dungeons (called “raids” in this game). I’m sure Crystal Reid’s abilities don’t suddenly become useless because you asked her to design a dungeon for five people instead of ten.

The dungeon team was fired years ago, they literally have no one with in-depth knowledge of the dungeons. Everyone who created the dungeons are gone, they’d have to spend dozens of hours going through a dungeon and figuring everything out again if they wanted to make large changes without breaking things.
