My BBQ team of Epic Pugness beat him last night with plenty of time to spare. I posted our strat in the link below. Might not be the same strat as other maps but it was really effective for us

For those struggling this is how my map beat him last night: Basics.

That’s right I said it, basics. We failed the first BBQ but that was because burns were to slow and we had to many people focusing on the magic crit spot or too scared to move in to melee under the neck.

On the 2nd BBQ run we had everyone do what they were doing before the hp buff. Zerg attacked the foot and we made sure we were stacked tight and that everyone was dropping might and water fields as called for. We also had 2 ERTs → ERT 1 was roving and helped defenses as needed. ERT: Finger Killing Edition kill fingers around the zerg the second they popped up. We found this kept more of the zerg alive and fighting. Fingers are by and far the biggest zerg killer going. Also when they went up all 6 turrets spammed skill 3 on the zerg.

We had the first battery trip @ just after 10min and batteries progressed as normal. During the burn we stacked for double numbers/crit and powered through until he did his first stomp. I had the zerg restack on the foot and in no time Teq was flying off. Last burn was around the 4 min mark and we finished the fight with ease.

Biggest thing for PUG maps is to just keep it simple. Teq’s beatable it just requires a bit more work.

I quite like the changes. It stops people from just wandering in in and pew pewing with skill 1. Plus you can crit now which is a nice trade off. Everyone has to actually work as a functioning team, as it should be. I’ve done him a couple times now and we lost the first map Friday night due to my error in stacking for crit, but on the second run I did Sunday we beat him with about 2 min left on the clock – both as most late crew know are run as pug maps. So yes, it is still doable, people just have to put in the work now.

I also think the spike in challenge is a good thing with the ascended weapon stat changing, (they have value now and shouldn’t be easy to get) and this is coming form someone who has been doing Teq 7 days a week for 2 yrs and still hasn’t got a Teq hoard lol.

Just hit lvl 80-what gear should I aim for?

in Guardian

Posted by: Soren.9316

Soren.9316

It depends on what you want to trait in imho. My guard runs a mix of soldiers (wvw) and knights and is based on a tweaked aulteristc healing spec (this will probably change come Tuesday as a heads up). All my stuff is exotic with the exception of trinkets (ascended and bought using laurels). I use a full set of traveller runes, staff (3), & GS (3) just to improve speed since guards are so freakin slow. As for sigils again it will depend on what you want your guard to do → healing, support, dps etc

That said I highly recommend waiting out till the Tuesday patch goes in as it’s going to toss the current meta on its head =p Once the new trait changes go live you’ll be able to better gauge what gear you will want to run based off your play style.

That’s why it’s immature to call the Rev design silly… because it’s not fully fleshed out like the Elementalist. So, before calling the Rev design silly, let’s wait to see all the trait lines and weapons.

Don’t get me wrong, I actually quite like the design and idea behind Rev and fully understand that we aren’t seeing the finished product. I’m just worried with the lack of choice and versatility that they will end up like a Necro in PvE.

I understand anet likes to be “different” , but ya know, different isn’t always good. I personally feel it’s extremely short sighted and silly to design a profession that will be stuck with 1 weapon during combat …

So, you haven’t played an Elementalist before… Gotcha.

Comparing Rev to an Ele isn’t as simple as you might think. Even though Ele’s don’t have a weapon swap they do have access to all 4 attunements which in turn gives them something like 20ish weapon skills to work with + all there utilities which can be mixed and matched on the fly. That and Ele’s always have access to ranged skills with utilities like icebow & greatsword.

Rev’s biggest downfall imo is that it only gets 1 weapon that seems to be geared toward a specific legend → mace/axe for demon, hammer for dwarf and imo they aren’t really interchangeable, & they are given a specific set of utilities that can’t be mixed. No weapon swap with tied utilities doesn’t leave much room for options or customizations out in PvE land. It’s an all or nothing, you’re either ranged or your melee. Hammer is to slow to be useful in certain situations and melee might not be what you want in others.

Mind this is just my first impression with the rev and it might be different once we see what other weapons it has access to and what other legends might be available later. While I think Rev could be a solid class I don’t see myself using it much in group play, I think I’d be more keen to use Chrono or Dragonhunter.

On max settings I pull around 75 fps average outside of massive zerg events (teq/wurm/wvw). In those situations I usually drop to about 30-40 fps depending on the size of the zerg, but if I know I’m doing that I’ll typicall drop my settings to med/low. Overall I’m quite happy with the performance.

I will also say that you can get better or equivalent to Alienwere for usually quite a kitteneaper. I’ve always like MSI so take a look at their MSI GP series. The mid range retails for around $1000 USD.

I think you can hide shoulders on outfits by going into your armor and toggling hide armor check box. That’s how I hide the head pieces on most outfits that have them cause I find them to be quite ugly.

I’m afraid you can’t toggle off shoulders on outfits. You can only toggle off headpieces and, in the case of older outfits, gloves. The old town clothes system didn’t have a shoulder slot, so that might be why, but most of the outfits also have built in shoulders, so they can’t really be removed.

In the case of the crystal nomad outfit though, the shoulders are explicitly floating, so it should be fully possible to toggle them off. Should, but probably isn’t. I hope they make it possible though.

Bummer, that sucks.

There are many ways to get it but most rely on some form of luck. Hang out behind Teq, when he rears up to do his ground wave is when you get the achievement. Dodge, run, swim, get exploded by an abomb, jump… any of these should get you what you are looking for. Khisanth makes a good point about not needing stability but it does life a bit easier.

I know I got mine when an abomb exploded me over the tail and into teq =p

New To This Game - Need Some Necro Advice

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Soren.9316

Soren.9316

Hi Pzy and welcome back! I find Necro very viable in PvE/sPvP/WvW, it all depends on your style of play and what you eventually will take as your trait line.

I typically run a d/d pure condi necro and find it to be a load of fun out in PvE land. Since you are leveling I would use either dagger/dagger (which you are), dagger/scepter (good for condi builds), axe/warhorn (power) as you main and keep Staff (condi) as your secondary.

Utility wise, if you find you like wells and the condition spec, I would swap out consume conditions with Well of Blood for better initial heal. I then like to max out on condi so if you have it, try Signet of Spite and Well of Suffering. If you find you are being tossed around a lot by stuns/pushes/pulls swap out Well of Suffering for Well of Power.

You might also want to start experimenting with a few buffs as well -> Try running Journeyman Maintenance Oil/Sharpening Stones/Tuning Crystas and/or Filet of Rosemary Roasted Meat, Meatballs, Loaf of Zucchini Bread for a solid boost in exp and vitality/toughness. You could also go the condi route and eat Veggie Pizzas.

Nercro Suggestion

I wouldn’t worry about sigils or runes until you hit the later levels as you will level up faster than they will be of use. Same with gear, though if you are having survivability issues look for gear that will boot toughness and vitality Hit me up in game if you need help with anything!

As a TTS member and former leader I would wager more than 60% of players that do TTS runs are in exotic gear or lower. We don’t tell people what to bring gear wise, we have never told people what to bring gear wise and never will. Will we offer suggestions to increase effectiveness? Yes we will, same with builds or consumables that will help the over all run. I am going to state the obvious, but if it saves just one person from being very unhappy on Saturday, it is obviousness well stated.

Do not expect to enter the convention quickly. Large cons tend to have long lines at registration. If you arrive 15 minutes before the panel begins planning to just pick up your day pass and waltz on in to find a seat, you’ll end up missing out.

I don’t know how PAX runs these things, but if there is any feasible way to collect your day pass the night before so you can walk right in Saturday morning, you’ll want to do that. Otherwise try to be there as early as you can.

I can 2nd that (SDCC regular right here =p). Saturday tends to be the busiest day out of the entire weekend so you are definitely going to want to be there early. Popular panels and events will generally have people lining up well in advance of the panel start time and I’d hedge my bets on lines starting to form for the GW2 panel as soon as the doors open what with the hype train and all.

[NA] Sanctum of Rall - Play, Laugh, Kill!

in Looking for...

Posted by: Soren.9316

Soren.9316

What’s cool about the Sanctum of Rall?

When SoR enters maps, mobs and bosses walk up to us, drop their loot and kill themselves, unless of course we kill them first. We kill the un-killable, do the impossible, attain the un-attainable and we aren’t afraid to stand up and protect our own.

We’re the music makers and the dreamers of dreams. We’re movers and shakers that continually give T8 a run for its money. When SoR hits the field we’re the terror that flaps in the night, the migraine that never leaves, and the onion that causes our enemies to cry.

We party with friends, we party with enemies, and we know how to have a good time with both. Dragon BBQ’s are a staple of life and everyone knows its a rick rollin’ good time even if they’re all secretly there just to up their individual spoon count.

Sanctum of Rall has bested the Boogeyman. We’ve said “Candy Man” three times and lived. We’ve dared to touch the cube, and we’ve read the whole necronomicon because it looked interesting. We’ve totally outlasted the Spice Girls, Britney Spears and the Sham-wow. Rallian’s are built tough, taste like the San Francisco treat, and are currently made up of a healthy mixture of determination, perseverance, loyalty and fun!

In all seriousness, Sanctum of Rall has probably been one of, if not the best server experience I’ve had in a game in ages. Heck I’d go as far as to say it’s not just a server, its a home for those that are looking for a great group of people and guilds to hang out with. If you’re looking for a home where you can simply be yourself I think I’m right when I say you’ve probably found it.
