GW2 PvP is just player vs passive. It’s w/e. When overwatch comes, this game is gonna lose like 1/4 of it’s pvper playerbase.

Looking forward to playing a game with an actual balance team.

How bad are things here if someone think Blizzard’s notorious history of kitten poor balancing looks appealing?

Got to love these Bristleback changes. The F2 was bugged since launch of Heart of Thorns to fire 20 projectiles instead of 15. So they then just straight nerf the skill to 10 projectiles. Claim that 33% of the projectiles were doing 33% less damage, fix that. Then increase the damage by 10% on all the hits to compensate. A 10% buff and a 11% buff do not balance out in anyway a 50% damage nerf.

For some reason I was picturing an old black-and-white sci-fi movie with a mad scientist pouring the contents of two bubbling beakers back and forth until one of explodes.

I made it to Ruby division yesterday, and I must say that I didn’t feel overwhelmed on my Guard (except for one match yesterday). It feels like matches are decided based on the skill of your teammates rather than the strength of their professions. It would be nice if there were more than one viable build for each profession, but this is a good start at least. I hope AN keeps improving each profession and aiming for balance. It’s great to see Warriors and Thieves in my matches again.

How did you find playing guard so far?

I shelved mine during last season after a pretty frustrating stint and I hate to see him just collect dust

I started off with the same bunker druid I ran last season (St S/D Mender’s), but it’s felt so-so in the early go.

Condis seem to hurt way more this time around and my early matches have been flush with necros and warriors

I’ve been playing for 6 months and I managed to accumulate enough gold to purchase the entire LS2, and that was on top of powerleveling a crafting profession and adding another bag slot.

I think the key to it is like anything else – resource management.

My only complaint with it is the characters don’t do anything for me.

I can’t explain why, but the interaction between Marjorie and Kasmeer just annoyed the hell out of me and I find Brahm just flat out annoying.

I can echo a lot of the sentiments in this thread.

Due to real life intervening I got a late start to the season, and I really feel higher sapphire (saph 4-5) where I’m at now is way worse than it was last season.

After ripping off a huge win streak I then ran into a horrendous loss streak (9 games in a row spread out over a few days) and literally in half those games I was the only one thst managed to get any points from cap/decap/kills/etc…

I wish I had thought to take some screenshots after some of those losses. I even remember asking one game how I was the only one that managed to get any points and someone on my team said "points aren’t everything ".

Normally I’d agree but when we just got stomped 500-30 and literally I had all 30 points there’s a problem…

How would you change Staff?

Oh the number of times I spanked a DH 1v1 with druid… Sometimes I’ll lose the cap if I play too conservatively by standing off point to take away the usefulness of their traps/traits. Overall I just dodge the trueshots and position myself where the DH is facing me and my pet is wrecking his bum from the rear so even if he pops his F3 it won’t save him.

Any decent DH won’t be camping longbow and they will still be using sword/shield or focus and that will be their primary weapon set. If they are using the melee set you just need to set up a burst combo whether it be a remorseless maul one shot wonder or a longbow 4 & 2 and just pew pew him to death taunting as needed w/ F2 and PM.

The only thing DH has over Druid is blocks but we have tons more evade, the same or more CC, more heals, more sustain, and a better role in team fights.

This so much.

I’m a recent convert from DH to Druid, and I’m not sure what it is, but I just seem to click playing it.

DH is great at lower levels because of all the people that face plant themselves into traps. As the skill level of opponents goes up you can see what a one-trick pony they actually are.

Having played as one I know the counters and in some ways actually feel bad playing against one. With so many weapon skills having evade and smokescale phase atack tripping their traps I kinda feel sorry for them.

Now at least I have an explanation on why I was getting beat up so frequently by Rangers when I was playing as DH…

Just as a side note, is it strange that I actually enjoy being a melee ranger? Some of the weapon skills are things I wished I had on Guardian.

Can you craft it like other gear, or can you only get it through rewards (karma, drops, etc…)?

I have looked into the berserker trait line. It appears to compliment certain play styles.

1) Condition warrior builds are greatly amplified by the trait line, and if you play any condition spec, I would advise to use it.

2) rifle specs are also enhanced by the new trait line. Gunflame damage is insane enough that it just makes that one skill worth it.

Now with my particular build, we can analyze what the berseker benefits would be vs the loses.
Currently Strength/ Discipline/ Defense
-Strength- Raw damage multipliers axe up to 30% and GS up to 40%
Discipline- weapon swap speed, quickness procs, all sorts of on weapon swap procs
Defense- stability, auto endure pain and my shield cd reduction
Berserker- boons on activation, damage multiplier, stun breaks

The limitation for zerke with gs/ axe shield is that my burst skills do not get better per say.
Primal eviscerate is less single target damage. Arc divider is better than arc slice, but with my play style I burst far too much to use primal form effectively.

The end all on why I don’t use the line is because I could not find one of the original 3 lines to give up. Losing strength gives up too much damage, discipline would give up too much versatility, and defense gives up too much personal support.

Dead or Alive, although similar to auto proc endure pain, requires you be in primal mode.

TLDR it just does not work well with these weapon sets in this type of build.

I had a feeling part of was primal bursts not being significant, but I wasn’t aware of what the other lines were giving.

Analysis: Massive win streak while matchmaking filters out better players from the player base. 3 divisions of emerald completed before running into 4 que of pro league players running 2 ele 2 ranger.
Lots of necros, thieves, and rangers. Was expecting more revs and scrappers honestly. At this rate, I should reach ruby by the end of the weekend I think. Definitely will finish emerald in day 2 long as I can play.

Random thoughts:
Should be interesting to see how this match making algorithm holds up once players get to ruby. Currently, it is pretty obvious after the first 30 seconds which team is the “team of better players”.
If this is the case all the divisions, it will stink fighting losing battles half the time.

No this isn’t an l2p issue. The same story is coming up repeatedly. I lost 30 in a row last night/this morning. At least one other poster cited a record of 1 for 29. Multiple other players overnight told me they had 20+ losses.

What if you won 30 straight?

Would there still be a problem or would you think it’s okay because you’re that good and deserve it?

Having now lost 23 straight matches, my attitude is exemplary. The incomparable gameplay of my teammates and the amazing power of the various classes to resist or cure conditions has made for an evening that would be unforgettable were it not so common in my experience.

Nevertheless, I am confident that arena net will perceive the various minor and virtually inconsequential issues and fix them with alacrity.

After all, arena net has always been responsive, iterative and very quick to remove any factors that might lead to a game that was biased to any particular class.

Given anet’s long and distinguished history of superior game design, balance and implementation, there’s no question in my mind that this will occur. Witness the lack of class bugs and the release of HoT. Both of which showcase anet’s skills nicely.

I’m sure that they’ll take your passive-agreesive posts into account for their next balance meeting and be sure to consult you before any changes are made.

After all they wouldn’t want you to go on another loosing streak, get your feelings hurt and leave the game.

It would be such a huge hit to company stock…

Glad to see people posting here aren’t that different than any other PvP based game out there.

People act like gaming companies all got together at some big summit to screw with players since it’s never the players fault, they’re always better than the people on their team, they always belong in the highest ranks and they never switch things up or take a break when they go on a tilt.

You only get 1 mastery point for each story step across all your characters. E.g. if you complete the 1st story mission with Asura and get your point, you can’t complete a Charr’s 1st story mission and get another point.

Is there an official explanation somewhere that says that?

Looking on the wiki it implies that a person should be able to get a mastery point per step per race, but only once.

So using your Charr example above I could get a point for the first time I do my level 10 and say picking Blood Legion, but if I make a new character and choose Ash Legion I won’t get it again, but starting up a Norn should let me get another.

Again, I’m basing this off the wiki so if there’s something else I should be looking at I’d be interested to see, otherwise I just wasted a few nights making a human for no reason…

No, you won’t get 2 MPs for completing the lvl 10 story on 2 different races. It’s an account wide thing.

No offense, but I see the same attitude from you that I’ve seen thousands of times in various game forums over the years.

You put something together that you think is great and when people ask questions on choice (not even being critical) you snap back like someone would have the nerve to qustion your choices and then wrap it up with "don’t comment until you try it "

If you’re looking for someone to come in, pat you on the head and say you did a great job making a build then I wouldn’t hold your breath, considering you’re borderline begging people to run it.

The other thing that’s been far more noticeable in unranked is people just start spamming skills in downed state.

I’ve lost count now on how many mental midgets have used their teleport skills when I’m trying to revive them thus canceling it out and either end up bleeding out or go right into the other team.

Really starting to get anoying…

Nearly all my games yesterday were either thrash or be thrashed.

I’m still relatively new to the game, but after numerous years playing games that have a competitive element it’s not hard to determine skill level.

In one of my games where my team was being thrashed a guy on our team actually said "no wondering we’re losing, look at the gear they’re wearing "

I may or may not have said some rude things in reply.

I am very unsatisfied. I hope other races don’t have those kind of glitches, I just have low level characters :s

I have a character that I boosted up to 80 through Tomes of Experience and now going back and working on my personal story.

I chose the option ‘Sorcerous Shaman’ and I have completed the first part where I meet him on the Toppled Wall.

However when I try to do the second quest in the chain and go to the Stockade, he’s nowhere to be found. On top of that there is no exit icon on the right side of the screen. The only way for me to get out of the instance is run outside and go into the out-of-bounds area.

Don’t confuse ‘dull’ with ‘ineffective’. No, the changes aren’t sexy but most are buffs and are to some skills that were underused. Not sure what you call that but I call it balancing.

One extra second of retaliation on Wrathful Spirit is ineffective unless they fundamentally change the way retal works. 60 extra toughness on Stalwart Defender is ineffective unless they fundamentally change the way toughness works. Most of these changes ineffective, especially the ones that were on less-used options. It is an attempt at balancing, but not a very good one.

You can debate the specific details if you like since we all know Anet is conservative with their balancing efforts. These ARE improvements to underused skills, whether you deem them ineffective or not. Sure glad I’m not maining a class on the other end of the spectrum … effective nerfs.

And I thought I saw some top-notch apologists on Blizzard forums.

I should send them here to get lessons from you on how to try and spin ridiculous changes into something good.

Yesterday was a weird day:
8/10 times I was on blue team and lost; kinda weird
7/10 matches ended with a greater than 200 points difference

*all solo queue Diamond Tier 0
*one stronghold match cause I accidentally queued for both

Teamed up with an Amber after and won 3 in a row. GG Anet.

Did you give him the 2 gold per win, or did he do it pro bono because he felt bad for you?

^^ sure, but you must know that marauder scrapper is only created with every defensive trait lines (alchemy: condi remove+boons/inevntions: high healing-bunker down/scrapper: rapid regen, adaptive armor..) then add high power coeficient on hammer skills, many surv abilities and this is it.

You can use high cc pressure(lack of stability). Or shoot down his hp under 25%(3 sec god mini elixir) he will loose 1 heal(under 25% heal skill reset). I know him deep so my nades always eat him

If I take anything from this video I would tend to take that it looks like Scrapper needs a mobility buff. Given that the Scrapper in this video was within striking distance of that Ranger for about what felt like 10 seconds in the 3 minutes of that fight. Kind of looks like the Scrapper needs the ability to tank otherwise that fight would have been more one-sided than it looked…. and it looked one-sided.

This must be a troll.

1. You’re talking about on of the best Power Rangers and Druids in game… He’s fighting against Scrapper which barely knows his class.
2. This is conquest game and imagine how this duel may looks like if they fight on the point (Scrapper full cap point or Ranger dies in less than 60sec).
3. Scrapper was playing WITHOUT with Slicky Shoes, if he takes it… ranger is dead.
4. Scrapper was playing WITHOUT Sneaky Gyro, because it’s not allowed on the 1v1 server… he’s immortal with this elite.

For a sec there I thought the title was referring to that ranger :/

This is not about who won this duel… duel shows how OP scrapper is, even if newbie or bad player using it.

scrapper had no chance whatsoever in this match even with slickshoes and stealth as the ranger clearly was built to counter the scrapper build to begin with nothing but stunbreak and gap openers and cc even if the scrapper stealthed and ran up to the ranger and slick shoed ranger would ve just used his utility evade skill wich fully counters slick shoes as ontop of a stun breaker its an evade evade doesnt= block so slick shoes cant break through evade , honestly i saw nothing broken asides from ranger being broken by having over 1500 range still thanks to offshoot bonus range

I don’t like both ranger and scrapper BUT… ranger can be killed whilst scrapper is almost immortal.

1. Ranger is range class, what range should he have on longbow… 500?
2. Dodge through “Slicky Shoes” or block, mhmmm interesning…
3. Only “Signet of Stone” would let him survive burst in “Slicky Shoes”… it has much bigger cooldown than slicky.

Read before you start defend “underpowered” Scrapper again:
- invul below 25% , wich locks all of engineer’s skills, useless but he aint gonna die for 3 seconds so OP
- stealth for year every 20 seconds
- evade on hammer “3”
- block on hammer “4”
- stun on hammer “5”
- insane combo field/finishers for CC or DMG
- OP healing turret + leap finisher
- perma retaliation
- perma condi clears
- stability
- SLICKY SHOES which are sick on point fights and every duel because glasscannons cant be bothered to bring stunbreak

i can do the same

Ranger

2300 ranged attacks + 50% damage on 1000+ range
- insane range short cooldown burst skill on 2
-low cooldown long range stealth on 3
-long range knockback on 4
-massive range wide radius high damage aoe cripple on 5

-permanent stability,might,fury and other boons
-perma condi clears
-insane burst damage pets
-insane CC pets
-infinite cc if running druid
-infinite heals if druid

- Engi is fine, scrapper is broken.
- Ranger is underpowered whilst druid is broken.
- Ranger has no stability, since he must use “Entangle”.
- Power Ranger is not even close to be in meta.

I’ve been looking at all the profession forums and it’s comical to see the same thing in each one – people point the fingers at another (or all other) professions as OP and theirs is just fine (except thieves and warriors) .

One common theme that people seem to agree on though is what’s said above about core professions being on average way behind the elite spec.

I get why they made them as an alternative way to play a profession, but I don’t think they should have given them such a defacto power creep.

Here’s to hoping they can come up with a solution to bring everything into line…

No offense, but I’m going to say Anet controls the concept of the class and what it does, not players. Besides that, Anet didn’t say it shouldn’t be bursty or disruptive at all, they just said it was TOO bursty and disruptive for them.

You can’t just say the devs think it’s too bursty and that’s that. This is a forum, I’m here to question and criticize. What basis do they have for thinking it’s too bursty? You don’t appear to have the answer, but you keep insisting. As I already told you, anything that isn’t a complete potato is too bursty compared to base guardian alone (your proposed basis for tweaks). And compared to other classes (as you say they don’t) it certainly isn’t too bursty at all for the survivability it has (marauder scrapper says HELLO). If you’re going to say Anet just made the change because they felt like it with no rhyme or reason, just say it. It’s their prerogative.

I wouldn’t get too worked up trying to have a debate with them over this.

Their posts haven’t offered anything of substance to prove or indicate that everything is going to be fine when the changes hit, nor show why Anet’s belief in the burst beibg too kuch is warranted.

The have that rare talent of being able to talk a lot and say nothing.

Agreed.

With the way underwater combat works now it would only be tougher by virtue of having less available skills to choose from and, in the case of some classes, only one lackluster weapon to work with.

As it is now whenever I happen to be in Kessex or Sparkfly nobody wants to do the underwater champs there, so I couldn’t imagine a whole zone dedicated to it, much less an expansion.

I think back to my time in WoW when they dedicated a whole zone to being underwater and it was fairly unanimous by players it was the worst zone ever created.

I’m curious since Rangers and Thieves have traps too.

Did people whine this much about those too, or are DH ones just that terrifying that people forget how to use skills and the dodge button when they get near one?
