How many elite specs have you unlocked?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Sthenith.5196

All classes except necro which i don’t play.

Actual uses :

Berserker – fractals (full asc/AR)
Druid – PvE/WvW (asc/wvw infusions)
Chronomancer – PvE/PvP (full asc)

Rest is placed in farming locations and i play them when i’m bored.

Motivation :

-wanted a berserker with GS/LB for fractals, works pretty good.

-wanted my ranger as druid for more support, it’s pretty awesome

- wanted a Chrono, well, for all the good reasons. Sinister/condi build, very good survivability, pretty decent damage, and i love condi on chrono.

-rest unlocked (daredevil/tempest/DH/Scrapper/Herald) because i want them all on par with eachother and i used the exp to lvl my masteries anyways.

Favorite char : Druid/Berserker (equally)
Least fav : either Tempest(very squishy build) or Herald (because everyone and their granny plays em)
Most challenging to play : Daredevil
faceroll : Scrapper

So he can report those ppl for…..i dunno, standing there ? No frikkin clue.

And since we’re on topic, i want banners to have the name of those that put em there, so i can report em for not aligning those properly. It’s very very disturbing for my OCD.

I tried ESO

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Sthenith.5196

Played ESO in beta, and immediately uninstalled thinking : “players are going to expect ‘Skyrim Online’, and it absolutely won’t be that.” It turned out i was right. They expected something different and ESO went from sub to F2P in an instant. They knew they would have a dead game if they didn’t do that.

The ONLY reason ppl play ESO is because there is no new ES after Skyrim. If there were, ESO would simply die out because no one would log in again. How many players do you think Fallout 4 has now ? A LOT.

And lastly, they won’t release another Elder Scrolls game for quite some time because they’re still milking the cow called ESO and they just released F4.

As far as gameplay ‘overall’ is concerned, GW2 wins hands down. I think that GW2 is what ESO should have been with Skyrim’s world. That would have been a game i’d love to play. And be honest, just call it ‘Tamriel Online’.

You can pay with a paysafecard (CAD amount on it) and the currency will be converted to USD. Keep in mind that USD = 1.36170027 CAD, which means you need more cad then you would usd.(or euro’s for that matter)

50 CAD = 36.7188 USD.

You’ll find even on a beast system that GW2 has issues with FPS stability.

^this. No need for a titan on a game that’s over 3y old. It’s not your Gpu (980ti) nor your cpu. It’s the game. They even have to remove the mini’s when there’s to many ppl around…. Either it’s not optimized properly or the game engine can’t handle the load.

I can run even the most demanding games on my setup, but GW2 drops fps like a nutter when ppl happen to be around. (Like Frozen Maw….just horrendous.)

Silly Guild Hall design fail

Guild hall for most : a place to enter, do stuff fast and gtho of there because it’s usually not ‘dressed up’ thanks to the rediculous cost of scribing.
For those who already have scribing high : gratz, you just invested in the most useless craft ever in a game.

I don’t think that many (less then 1%) care about the looks of the guildhall. We gather there before a Gmission and leave as soon as we’re done. it’s def. not a place to “hangout”.

And i agree about the non-functionality placement. Weird design choices. We’re used to that by now.

Exclusivity and Why I Don't Raid

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Sthenith.5196

Sthenith.5196

I play different classes, from full asc berserker made for fractals , to a Hammer wielding Scrapper over a sinister condi chronomancer. I went into a raid once with my guild, and i immediately decided it would be the last time.

Not because of the difficulty, but because i saw the frikkin timer on the first boss and said, hell no, i’m not gonna do that kind of crap again.

I’ve experienced it in another mmo where bosses had an ‘enrage’ timer, and believe me, 95+ percent of the population couldn’t do it in time and the 5% that could crowned themselves ‘elite’. It created a rift and a toxic environment that ripped through the community.

Aside from that, to become good in raids you need to spend a lot of time in there, you won’t just learn it suddenly. But for that i have this quote taken directly from raid wiki :

A 2003 study by the National Institutes of Health found that playing MMORPGs for more than 20 hours per week correlates to obesity and nutritional imbalance as well as an increased propensity for bone loss and muscle atrophy. Due to these concerns, China has proposed national limits on how long people can play MMORPGs. The measures will impose penalties on people who play MMORPGs for more than 3 hours per day.

Something the Anet dev’s do not care about (your health), seeing ppl can spend over 20 hrs in the raid instance. So to all those lazy fat buggers that keep on raiding 24/7 : get out of your chair, drop the pizza’s and go out for a walk. ^^

This means we need to give reasons for players at all levels to explore these areas, to reward them for their time, and to encourage them to play in locations where they will run into each other and experience the community-driven features that make Guild Wars 2 shine.

Has as a result this :

I know it was random luck so I will never go back to that fight again lol.

Once players get what they want, wether it be random or not, they don’t return and go do other things. Something the dev’s never really got. When you finish a map and have done all events, once you’ve gotten your desired ‘loot’ or item, why would you return? for the very low chance of getting something ? I think not.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Sthenith.5196

No, they don’t play the game. They’re focused on their PvP league bs that only a handfull of people are interested in.
When i say ‘handfull’, i mean only a percentage of what other games are attracting in views. And when you look at that number, it’s nothing big in comparision to the total number of GW2 players.

A LOT of concerns and grievances were and are being posted on the forums, but it seems the dev’s have no clue whatsoever as how to address them or fix them. Not even a “we’ll look into it” kind of message.

- First they give you a new graphic option to increase the games quality, then they reduce the so-called “visual clutter” to make up for the loss in fps in certain area’s.
You know how other games solve that problem ? It’s simple and called ‘reduce your resolution if you can’t handle it."
By reducing the quality, they are basically reducing their game to a pile of visual crap. Something we played 7 years ago.

- Second they introduce new stats on armors which are utterly useless in most cases and will get you kicked from squads and raids. Way to go with the idea’s there…. into oblivion.

-Third they nerv nearly everything that can bring in gold for the players, the dungeons, the fractals, the basic rewards….the list doesn’t seem to stop.

-Fourth, they hide a lot of the ‘new’ stuff behind timegates, as if it isn’t hard or boring enough to gather all the materials. Another awesome idea, let people wait to make it seem like it’s so frikkin awesome to get into that non existant journey.

-And last but not least, they made WvW into a dead zone by redesigning it and making the rewards (the biggest reason ppl go into that zone void of any significant life) soulbound so that in order to get your stuff done, you need to do it on each character. As if.

All those things combined clearly points to the fact that they want to force players to keep playing for as long as possible by artificial means, wether it be timegating, or forcing them to do all stuff on all of their toons, it all comes down to the same thing.

I might be wrong since i don’t have numbers, but i think they want to compensate somehow for the loss of players they already are experiencing or going to experience.

Man i can’t wait for March when my new desired game is coming out. Then it’s probably “Goodbye and thanks for all the fish.” if this trend here keeps going on.

p.s. : just occured to me, if you really want the game to change and the dev’s to notice, stop playing PvP altogether. I’m sure they’ll say “what’s wrong ? why aren’t you playing ?” like they just woke up and noticed the rest of us.

“leeches”.

They’re not really leeches, they’re the ones that want their HP points or some event done so they can enter and finish map completion. It’s very understandable, and it shows how badly the setup in HoT really is. TD being the worst map ever designed.

For the rest, you hit the nail right on the spot.

Requirement for Berserker. Really?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Sthenith.5196

Sthenith.5196

Personally several of my toons run beserker setups (mostly), and usually they’re the ones that die pretty fast in the HoT maps unless they’re ranged classes like druid or Tempest(staff).

I find it hilarious to see that the ones that claim zerker is the way to go in open world pve, outside of speedrunners and raids, are exactly the ones that get downed a lot whenever there are events.

A smart move in my opinion, is just to get an exotic berserker set besides what you usually play with, and simply try to learn how far you can go with it before it becomes a fail.

Raids is a different thing alltogether. There, because of the mechanics and timer, players are nearly forced to go for the ‘meta’ in order to finish the fight before time runs out. You need a lot of dps in there, together with a good tank and coordination.
I’ve been in there and frankly, the next time i do a raid will probably be the last day i play this game.

You can also try to find a middle ground, maintaining a high enough dps output while still having enough survivability. It’s not always advisable to go full zerk when you see how many of those are downed and not contributing to a fight.

Although the calculations make a convincing arguement, all it takes is one single mishap to fail. What good is a full asc zerk (including trinkets) when half the fight they’re down and someone needs to rezz them ? That’s 2 ppl not adding to any dps at all. For some classes it works, for some it doesn’t at all.

How many players have you seen downed or dead in the open HoT maps that you know are following the meta ? I regularly see ppl with legendaries and full asc go down because they still forget that in HoT, they’re squishy.

Besides the raids and speedrunners (if they still exist that is), there is no real need to go into that “meta”, and it’s rediculous asking for “15k+ ap” since those are the kind of players that don’t even know what they’re talking about.

AP = achievement points. What the hell has that got to do with skill ? High AP points simply means you did more achievements or you played longer. For the rest it doesn’t mean crap. Certainly not skill, there’s plenty of skilled ppl with less AP then my granny.

Windu pictured it right.

But i also must agree to this :

Raids are designed so that 10 people work together and tailor builds as a unit not have 2-3 people do whatever they please making it harder for others.

Sadly, they’re designed that way. Imo, a bad decision on behalf of the dev’s, esp when they introduce new stats on gears. No logic at all those guys. I think they have 3 teams in their offices working in their own little corner not knowing what the other one does.
One that develops raids and stuff, one that develops gears, and one (the biggest one probably) that designs outfits to make up for the lack of….anything the other 2 groups miss. Hence the overflow in the Cashshop.

“Hey, here’s some new gear ! It’s pretty useless, but at least you get some new outfits to hide it.”

Any damage or dps calculation made is theoretical.

Nearly everything ingame can change the dps output :

- dmg resistance of mobs (toughness)
- dodging
- not optimal rotations
- type of foods
- traits/build
- gear
- type of sigils and runes
….etc etc.

Auto attacks are slow and don’t hit hard

Skill : frenzy. Quickness and might.

As for warrior’s 25K damage, yes, it’s in ideal situations, like most high dps numbers are.
However. If you just calculate, purely on paper mind you, the dmg output of a warrior with it’s own skills (selfbuffs or solo), then a warrior or berserker can indeed hit pretty hard.

Also, you can not compare dmg between different classes objectively. Why ? Simple :

- different skillset and traits
- different buffs (look at ele generating might stacks)

If you want to compare different classes, you can only do that on paper in calculating how much damge the do in ideal circumstances. Theorycrafting. which like it says is a theoretical damage output, not realistic.
But that calc gives you an indication of how much damge a class or build can generate. It’s the only thing you can really ‘compare’ a bit the classes.

Other then that, there is no comparison possible. Some bosses for example can be solo’d by mesmers but are a tough nut to crack for thieves or warriors. Some mobs can be quickly dispensed of by rangers without taking any dmg but not by revenants.
Every situation is different.

The same goes for fractals. You’re in a team and want to increase damage ? Then form a diversified group where every single one knows what to bring and how to play it right.

OP said he doesn’t like Ele and wants a high dps toon to choose from. Well, he’s got plenty of choices. But his guildmembers who go along, what do they play ? Choose something you like to play and what is needed and can do plenty of damage.

Someone talked about bloomhunger, well, at that level, bloom , with a good team, should be down in less then 3 minutes. And that’s not even in perfect circumstances.

Minus all of this and you can expect a standard warrior build to hit for 14-15k on bloomhunger at fractal lvl 56

Sounds about right, except you’re not fighting it alone. Depending on the group i can hit between 10/15K and 20K, but it really doesn’t matter. It’s the total dps of the group that counts, because i might do a lot of dmg, but if I or someone else goes down in a fight, you lose that oh so precious dps.

Personally, i find that tactics are more important then pure dps. Doing dmg with 5 ppl versus 3 ppl with 2 down makes a lot of difference. And rezzing someone doesn’t do dmg either.

Why is everyone so mad about the precursor?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Sthenith.5196

Sthenith.5196

Simple reasons why people are “mad” or frustrated about the new pre’s :

1. there isn’t a real ‘journey’
2. items needed are timegated = an artificial way to keep ppl playing and to control the market
3. the cost is even higher then just buying from the TP
4. although they are an alternative to getting them from the MF-rng, it seems they’re not really worth the time spend and cost invested seeing that it’s locked behind yet another timegate.

Players expected a journey they could finish at their own pace with less or equal cost in materials, but are now realizing it’s with an even higher cost and more time spend then just farming gold (which is still quite easy to do if you play a lot) and buying it on the TP.
That’s about it in a nutshell.

Sthenith.5196

@Thaddeus

Depends on gear, skill rotations and traits

It all depends what traitlines you choose and if you are fully specialized or stickin to the ‘old’ setup. I placed warrior 3rd for example because as it stands ‘most’ Ele’s are still number 1 in pure dps output.
I place Thief (or specialization daredevil) at 2nd because face it, they hit hard but are squishy, dps nonetheless.

The rest of the list might also be debatable, but i play them all (except necro) and this is my personal experience of them.

Necro i don’t know much about and the reaper might indeed do more dmg then before, like i said : traits and specs.

but the thing with staff elementalist is it’s absolutely awful on any enemy that moves around a lot

It not just staff ele, it’s any class that doesn’t use ranged weapons. Try going into costic shooters or mordrem snipers if you’re playing a pure melee character. It’s horrendous.

Every class has benefits and drawbacks, but i like to carry a ranged weapon on any class just because you need it, not because they’re any good at it dps wise.

Depends on gear, skill rotations and traits, but i’d say in order of pure dmg :

-Ele
-Thief
-Warrior
-Guardian
-Ranger
- Engineer
-Mesmer (depending on encounters)
- Necro (still seems to be at the bottom, but might have changed)

That’s at least fom my own experience. All depends what kind of addition of support you want to give to the group and what kind of encounters you have.
While mesmers generally deal less dps on average, with illusions up and the right build they can outdmg some other classes.
Thieves and warriors have high dps ( if well geared and traited can go up to 20-25K dps)

For a warrior reaching up to 25K :
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kfBpmm3Cres

Thief HoT owners :
http://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Daredevil_-_Berserker_Staff

For fractals i love my warrior, for open world pve i prefer mesmer, ranger or herald, Ele has high dps, but is squishy (imo) and necro, well, i don’t like nor play it. Thief and engineer is just for fun.

You have to remember that you need to play the class you like. And every class has something to contribute to a group. Be it pure damage or more support, each has it’s task. And it’s not like fractals are speedruns either.
It might take a few tries, but coordination and knowing what your class is supposed to do makes a LOT of difference.

p.s. : i run fractals on warrior with GS/LB. the LB is quite amazing when used at the right moment (love the burn on that thing) and the GS, well, let’s just say i hit hard.

If the players stop criticizing things they encounter ingame and they don’t like, then no changes would ever be made.

Let me come back to this example :

The current cost and availability of the materials needed to level the craft scribe are way to high for what players expected it to be.
One can reason that it’s a guild oriented craft where guild members contribute to that “crafter”, but this, sadly, is never the case.
It’s only when you look at something up close, that you see the failed reasoning behind that specifing thing. I’m sure the dev who designed it thought that guild based crafting would be handled by a guild, but they forgot that there is NO real incentive to take up that craft.
It’s not personally rewarding, it requires a lot of investment (in both time and gold) and the end result is something no one needs ingame. It has been said multiple times on the forums, and even ingame and in guildchat, so there is no denying it.

We can only hope that the dev(s) will realize they brought out a completely pointless non-rewarding (esp on personal level) and very expensive craft that needs to be changed. Either by adding items that can be used by the crafter or sold by them, or by changing the requirements for that craft.

My greatest fear is that it is a hope in vain. And this is like several other complaints from players on the forums and ingame, the designers will justify their decisions by saying “it’s supposed to be like that, it must take time and it should be challenging” instead of saying “it should be fun”.

Adding more ‘regular’ mobs to a confusing map and giving them different mechanics so that you get halted at every corner isn’t good game design or challenging. It’s a patchwork gone wrong.

If you wanted to give players more challenging content you didn’t need new maps and mobs. Just double the HP of the existing mobs, give them different “tactics” and voila. Instant coffee. Soz, instant “challenge”.

I don’t want to finish the game in a week, i don’t want that craft or item immediately. But i want it to be fun and not just another waste of my time and resources with an end result that leaves me saying “well, that was a bummer. is that what we payed for ? a bunch of hoolahoop’s to jump through and nothing worthwile to show for it ?”

Sure, the new armors and stats are great. But seriously, outside of try-outs, who is going to use them ? The meta still exists and is even forced somehow because the objectives will still remain the same : kill mob as fast as possible by doing the most dps while trying not to die. So get ascended (cause you ‘needed’ it (not really)) or work your butt off to farm for the new legendaries (at least for those who care now).

I didn’t use to do fractals. But now i do them every day. Not because of the rewards, but because it’s more fun then just running around like a headless chicken trying to find an event that i need or a HP i haven’t taken on the character i’m playing at that moment.

So far i’ve made a Druid, Berserker, Scrapper, Herald and Tempest , i’ve done 3 VB map completions and unlocked every zone on 3 characters, levelled scribe up and by now i know what’s out there to see : more of the same but “harder” or more annoying.

Everyone has things they like and dislike in GW2. My dislikes are like most players. My dislike is that dev’s shouldn’t put their heads in the sand and pretend nothing’s wrong.
You want my money ? I’ll gladly pay it IF it’s not just on another outfit but on something i can actually obtain in my lifetime. And i’m over halfway expiration date.

I can tell you what HoT is and isn’t :

1. masteries are an exellent way to push players to explore more (at least towards the hero points) and level them up to attain new items/benefits. The downside is that you need a lot of exping and doing events (or farm CoF for hours on end) in order to level them.

2. Raids are fun to do for those who like that kind of gameplay, but for most casual players they set the bar pretty high or you need to spend a lot of hours learning the mechanics of the bosses on a timer. Fun for some, a big letdown for the ‘casuals’, of which , no one can deny, are a lot of. Most don’t even get past the first one.

3. fractal levels increased by adding some ‘counter’ to the usual setups, pushing players, once again, to invest in more AR in order to do those higher levels. Imo, fracs are quite fun, even with pugs, but most just want to do dailies, collect reward, and get out.
Not a big change there.

4. The new maps. I think most will agree that Verdant Brink and Auric Basin are extremely well designed and gliding is, after the big hype, still fun, so much so that players want (and sometimes expect, with a fail death) it in the old maps as well.
I think most will also agree that Tangled depths is one of the worst maps ever designed because either it is confusing or there are so many mobs in there that exploring it isn’t fun at all. Not after the first time.
Dragons stand is not worth mentioning because ppl just want to finish it and be done with it. Hard to find an organized meta in there on the right time.

5. New crafting. This is one thing that has gone downhill :
- Scribe : do the devs really believe that a guild will invest a lot of mats/gold into someone going for scribe ? There is nothing preventing someone levelling scribe and quit playing later or leaving the guild. So basically NO guild with common sense will do that. That leaves players pay a LOT of money into a craft that is not only costly but also pretty pointless. Crafting a buff that gives LESS benefit then a food from Chef ? Seriuosly ? Who had that bright idea ?
- New precursor and legendary craft. Costly, longwinded, and for the most part not needed. Most people will already have gotten their ascended gear, and now they need to salvage asc stuff in order to craft the ‘new’ legendaries which are, to be honest, not worth it since they have the same stats as the asc.
The only incentive behind it is to obtain the skins or stroke the Ego.

So, is HoT fun ? 80% yes, 20% is frikkin annoying and pointless. Would i personally buy it again ? No. Am i disappointed that i bought it ? A little bit, but not enough to make me regret it. The 80% is still fun, even if of that 80%, 50% is not situated in HoT.

The game has changed a lot , for the better or for worse ? Thats up to each and everyone themselves. Safe to say, it’s not the only game i play, otherwise i’d jump out of the 20th floor window whilst shooting myself. Just to make sure.

Raid too easy, please make timer tighter.

OP is obviously trolling.

It’s not because some (a minority) players managed to beat it in ideal setup and circumstances that things should be changed.

Give it 3 months and see how many teams have beaten the first boss. I mean different teams, not the number of the same teams over and over again. Then you can see what percentage of players actually plays the Raids.

My guess ? Not even 5% of the total gamer population cares about those raids. It might seem different on the forums here, but ingame, a LOT of people have tried and failed miserably. Some even go in there and try again for over 20 hours…. and fail.

Most of those i know have already given up on that (imo pointless) content. It’s good for real nolifer hardcore players, but a huge majority of GW2 doesn’t really care for it.
And this is just the first raid.

Here is my suggestion : lower the timer by 20% and increase the vale dmg by 50% before enraging. Let’s see how many of those trolls will come here and complain then about their “challenging content”.

p.s. : take a look at the raid achievements. Rediculous. What’s up for the next raid ? Don’t get hit at all and gain 5 ach. points ? Lmfao.

Even changed chars and logging into LA then back to VB yields the same result.
5 minutes ingame, then suddenly client cannot login or cannot connect.

Not the first time this happens and Frustratingly annoying. A good fix would be nice.

Thx.

Logic behind making asc. mats more demanded

They want those people to use that gold.

Well, i would call that a nice try, but it won’t work. Players who have that kind of cash ingame don’t need to spend their cash anymore.
- they already have the gear they want, so no need for mats.
- they already have (multiple) legendaries
- they know how to make cash. and that’s by not spending it without good reason.

People stay rich because they don’t throw it away. And they farm. A lot.

Can we talk about scribing for a min, devs?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Sthenith.5196

Sthenith.5196

The whole thing is designed to designate one or two people in a guild as scribes, as what scribes craft is for the benefit of an entire guild, not for personal use like other professions.

IF people would actually send their “stuff” for scribing to the person doing it.
IF that person couldn’t just “walk up and leave”.
IF the cost of the mats wouldn’t outweigh the usefullness of scribing.

Seriously, i went for scribing, got it to something in the 56’s and stopped :
- it’s not a priority for the guild to get the npc needed (VERY expensive)
- it’s plain and simple NOT worth levelling seeing the cost(again) and the usefullness which is, truth be told, almost nill.

If anything in ‘crafting’ is bad, it’s this. Scribing is uttely pointless in comparison to the cost.
Why would i want chairs in the guild hall ? And plantpots ? And whatever crap no one really cares about ? Have you even seen the cost of making a “Writ” of strenght ?
Who in his right mind would spend so much coin on something worth less then food ?

Dev’s really messed this one thing up. And saying “It’s for the Guild” is a sad excuse to justify the cost.

Either allow items created by the scribe to be traded, or lower the costs so this can be achieved on a personal basis.

That’s a +1(000) from me.

Word of advice to all “aspiring” scribers : get rich first or just ignore this pointless badly concieved thing they call a “craft”.

My 2 cents.

Warrior traited str- tac- bers. Insane burst, good sustained dmg output, very good with GS/LB , burns are great. Also very viable with axe/mace.

Since i traited my berserker i absolutely love her. Amazing dmg output, can take a pounding and has decent support (banners / phalanx / etc). Running at 3K base Power and 300 condi dmg.

Perhaps after 8 minutes the boss would do a special attack, become harder, deny you of an achievement or loot, anything but asking you to start over for the 10th time.

Good idea, but i think there’s a lot of masochists ingame. They want a spanking and keep going back for more.
Besides, they’ll probably never scale the difficulty back since “see ? it’s possible.” is enough to convince certain people that it should stay that way.

Turn down the difficulty for Casual Players

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Sthenith.5196

Casual means less time to play. It doesn’t mean you can’t raid and can’t be good at it.

True. But considering that i saw ppl in chat and on forum say that they spend 6 hours inside the raid and still didn’t manage to kill the boss you can imagine that not everyone is able to do that. Meaning for those ppl it will take a long time to adapt and learn.

Like in most other games, including fps ones, people that spend a lot of time in a game get to know the maps by heart. I can tell you that after so many years i still know the maps from MOH:Allied Assault by heart. I can even visualize them in my mind.

Players that play ‘casually’ do not have that luxury to be able to know everything about mechanics of a boss in the same amount of time or ever. I play some games casually as well, and i’m very good in them, but HoT is different.

In HoT they switched up the difficulty by a few notches, adding the group coordination (which is not bad) but at the same time requiring you to rethink your build regarding survivability. Then they introduce raids (1st wing – 1st boss) and it’s already obvious for most that it’s designed with only the most hardcore of players in mind.
The same players that have 161 MP spend and have already done lvl 100 fractals.
‘Casual’ players can’t just do that.

We just don’t have that kind of abilities.

That, to me at least, is someone who freely admits they enjoy the game for the fun it brings but do not have the time nor ability to do things they wanted to do in HoT because of the level of difficulty and design.

And that ‘someone’ is by all accounts still a majority ingame. I’ve said it before, people wanted it to be challenging, but not near impossible for the majority of players. Something the dev’s and designers clearly overlooked.

Imo, the raids will become the new dungeons for the hardcore players while the rest just forgets about it and moves on.

Man you people complaining about the difficulty of ENDGAME CONTENT have never played another MMO have you? Or Dark Souls.

It’s never endgame content. That’s why expansions exist. And this isn’t Dark souls, i’ve played that (and DS2), don’t compare it with this.

1. i agree that the content is more aimed towards groups then solo.

2. i agree that completing a map requires some group interaction and event completion

3. i disagree however that certain classes cannot solo certain events or even HP points.
I did a few HP points where you need to kill a champ solo on my Chrono mesmer, but indeed others you can’t because of their mechanics.

Trust me it’s not dead do to raids and it’s not just VB it’s all H.O.T zones

- VB is either full with ppl wanting to do raids, making it seem filled but it isn’t active at all, or it’s void of any activity.
- Auric is only filled on a few maps where you have at least 1-2 commanders guiding ppl.
- TD is for most a badly designed and confusing map and only very very rare you find a complete meta going on.
- DS isn’t even funny. Mobs are nearly always in groups of 3 (or more) and there is really nothing to see that’s remotely interesting let alone ‘rewarding’.

Once i have map completion on VB, i only do the HP points for my other characters combined with the waypoints in case i want to do an event on one of those. other then that, why waste time there, it’s surely not for the rewards. (besides exping)

That is until Anet dev’s figure out that that aint the place to put the raid entrance.

And IF they only want guilds to do it and NOT random pugs like someone claimed,
then they’d better put the access INSIDE the Guildhall.
You know, so only guilds can do it.

But wouldn’t that be unfair to HoT players who don’t have acess to a guildhall …?

All weird stuff going on, and strange decisions from the dev’s. Add more armor options, but force ppl into a meta again for the raids. I still can’t wrap my head around some of their views. Weird stuff indeed.

…ANet insists that raids should not be puggable

1. Anet wanted to “break” with the pure dmg dealing “Meta” and introduced several new armor options and builds.

2. that being said, they kind of force us all, at least those who want to do raids, into a certain “Meta” again, by putting mechanics in place like a short timer.

3. then they say " Oh, but you can’t find raids on the Lfg, it shouldn’t be ‘puggable’ "

4. But, behold, several pug groups have already beaten the vale guardian (or got very very close), one even beat it not using any voice comm at all….

So imo, they should redesign the Lfg tool, so that Everyone , even those in small guilds, have a chance at doing raids.

But the idea of having a guild recruitment tab might sound nice, it isn’t. Just like now you have guilds having certain restrictions and groups (for instances) wanting certain meta’s, you will have players who will exclusively ask for lvl 30+ guilds who do raids 4x/day and are willing to fund their personal setup because “i’m worth it”.

Seriously. You’ll have guilds that will need to “pay” in some form for the so-called ‘elitists’, otherwise they will only get “sub-par” players….

“I’m willing to spend 5000 euro’s every month.”

It’ll be much better next time. Btw, mixed gears , mostly zerk and sinisters, 3 condi dmg dealers.

The dev’s want you to play the game for as long as possible, that’s why the high number of “farm” or collecting is required. Is it fun ? No, not by any means for most. You’re better off just playing the game you want, farming the needed gold and buy the dam things off the TP.

Did they anticipate the reactions to the seemingly never ending farm ? Yes, they probably did and they don’t care. Just as long as you play and pay, they’re good with it.

My advice : ignore the crafting of precursors and subsequently the new legendaries.
It’s not needed to enjoy playing with friends. Thinking about it makes ppl only frustrated.

If they fail to have a game that legitimately entertains.

But it does entertain. The only question is, for how long. Personally i’m waiting till march 2016. Another game will come out by then, and i’ll probably switch over.

Games aren’t meant to last. Games are meant to give you a distraction/pleasure for a limited amount of time, to relieve stress, to distract, to relax. After all that, you move on.

For the companies that make games : they intend to make money. simple. Nothing to explain there, it’s a company for crying out loud. They see that you are “entertained”, even for a little while, and they make money, you have “fun”.
If you don’t have fun, you move on.

Example :

Go to a bar as a guy/girl. Don’t have fun ? Don’t see anyone you like ?
Move to the next bar. Relax, have a drink, rince and repeat.

Same principle. Play a game. don’t have Fun ? move on. Maybe come back later since you “know some people there”. Might be fun afterall. Or not. Move on.

What’s entertaining of moving from club to club or bar to bar ? The promise that something exiting is there. That it’s “Gooood.” If not, ppl don’t stay. They move on.

It’s not that, i was at Karka today(with events) and as soon as i arrived on the scene when she spawned, it was already a quarter down. And that normal because of the full map and the amount of dmg done to it.

You want to see insane ? Go HoT to one of the HP champs, see it being taken down by 3 players in less then half the time available. Players are getting really good at what they do. That’s the result.

First and fore-most time waster is the bugs.

1. yes, there are bugs, not often, but it happens.
2. mostly, i try again after cooling off for a few.

Second time waster is unskippable scenes and dialogue in story.

Annoying indeed, but in HoT, i can skip the dialogues by moving towards the next waypoint. Or i have a drink.

Third time waster is the grindy barriers for the new masteries.

Yes, it’s stupid, but i think most don’t really mind and it keeps ppl playing and working towards a goal (esp HoT masteries).

Fourth time waster is the amount of junk you’re given.

Junk ? I salvage a LOT. Craft or sell. Cash is cash.

Fifth time waster is the major meta events.

I like the events, IF it’s a bit organized, and most ppl are helpful for the HP points or achievements.

Sixth time waster is the gold expense and grindiness to obtain basically any thing

GW2. Been there, Done that. Nothing new we didn’t know before HoT. Those that thought it would change with HoT : complain to the finance manager. They calc how much revenue must be made and how much gems must be bought to cover the expenses and make a profit.

Don’t tell me you’re surprised. Or do you really believe they make a game to pleasure US. No, it’s to make cash. And lots of it.

My guess is that if the number of players on a map falls below a treshold , the system automatically wants to transfer players on another map. Once the players on that map click ‘yes’ the system then transfers each seperately (or 1 by 1) onto another map.

Since the system recalculates it for each player, not all players end up on the same map, resulting in players often ending up in a map that is equal or less then the previous one they were in.

It happens very often because of 3 reasons :

1. you will find some populated maps where people are partaking in events (mostly VB and Auric basin)

2. most of the maps will be empty and only be filled with people switching maps often to find an event or when they are doing HP collection.

3. After the “hype” of the new HoT maps, most players who have already collected their hero points or done the map completion, will stay away from the maps because either the mobs are to numerous to take on alone, or they don’t need to run in there anymore. Best example is the Dragons stand and the depths map (a stupid map tbh).

You’re lucky to find an organized map of those 2 which you can join.

My personal opinion :

Verdant brink : great map, good events.
Auric basin : great map, awesome design.
Tangled depths : rediculous, hard to navigate. Events are quite good, IF you find an organized one. Finding your way is a nightmare.
Last Stand : not even worth a comment.

absolutely nothing for the Chak event which is a little frustrating in itself.

See my comment above, it’s rediculously designed navigation wise. Massive amounts of mobs that stop/stun/whatever you when you just wanna explore/reach a point.

1. Precursors only dropped from the MF which led to people complaining they never got a precursor in all the time they played because of rng.

2. precursors can now be crafted. So it’s no longer dependable on randomness and everyone who wants/needs one can get it.

3. No one said it would be easy to craft one, or even cheap. The possibility of making one is , however, 100%, unlike the MF.

Lastly, i’ve gotten 5 pre’s over the course of 8 months, 2 in one day even. Seeing the reactions of others on that ingame, i understand some players frustrations, which are now after 3 years being adressed by the devs.

Craftable ? yes. Cheap ? no. Desired ? yes. Needed ? no.

I think you don’t know what you’re talking about, a chrono mesmer is one of the best for mob tagging thanks to the wells (dmging ones) and staff 5. A chrono (condi build is better for that thx to the dmg ticks) can cast 4 dmg Aoe’s within seconds. Staff 5 + 3 wells. If that ain’t tagging i don’t know what is.
