I am reading a lot of pet condi damage getting adjusted in HoT, but was there any mention of pet healing power? I am assuming this would be together with condi damage getting fixed, but I could be wrong.

No Ross, you didn’t get that your video is not making a point, it’s just you killing a half-afk thief.

Thief had SR’d to go past to the point (thus why I was dking around watching said point). So claiming thief afk is just silly.

But I get it, you were upset and wanted to defend yourself. That’s ok.

I do think that thief was half-afk too. No ports, no Signet of Infil, No shadowstep. No steal. In short never got out of the stun.

Unless… they were all on CD, but the thief was OOC so… Idk..

I dont think they want to acknowledge that tbh.

Cause it’s simply not true, the Healing turret give more hps to an ally than the gyro gives to you ( including the initial heal) LOL and over 2 times more than gyro give to an ally and it has significantly bigger radius.

how does the heal itself give more Hps to allies? 2.8k every 20 seconds. Again we are just talking about the heal here. Thats why Ive been saying gyro has its place, AoE support point holder builds. We are not debating here what heal is better.

Don’t forget about the toolbelt skill laying the waterfield and then 3 leaps of our rocket charge in it. That’s gotta be some pretty decent healing right?

That requires a few things:

  • You are running hammer (this one is easy)
  • Your Hammer #3 is off cooldown (a bit more difficult , but doable)
  • Your enemy stands in the middle of your waterfield for the entire durration (Nope!)

Half of the Healing turret heal will heal your allies, the condi removal and regen also goes onto allies.

I agree. And yes only 1/2 of it. So you can confirm Medic gyro does provide something. Sustained AoE heal (assuming it does not die quickly), It has the AoE daze too when it dies, X effects when traited.

A good mesmer multiclasses, In order to know how to beat other classes effectively, one must understand other classes as well.

So long as the Mesmer runs his role, wins his fights, and comes out on top of his matches (team not withstanding), multiclassing is irrelevant.

Ah… how do you win fights against equally skilled people? Without knowing a thing or two about the class they are playing.

Yea you might win sometimes, but its more efficient to know how other classes work too. Not by playing against them, but also playing them.

You remember what mesmers tell people? “Create and play a mesmer to know how to fight them”

So being good with the class mastery itself is only 50% of being good.

So if I have 2 targets with 2 stacks of bleeding each. I cast epidemic on one of them. Will the other target get 2 stacks of bleeding for a total of 4 or retain the same number of stacks (2) since he has a pre existing condition on him already (the original 2 stacks of bleeding.

IMO, Protect me should grant RETAL and RESISTANCE to the pet for 6 seconds, then absorb all damage from the ranger. Then it would be worth taking.

This is probably a tricky one to do but I believe it will not be hard to understand.
As a Pet-designed class, Ranger’s skill should be determined by his ability to manage his pet.
The sad truth is – we have close to zero control of our pet. The only thing we can control is whether it attacks at all, who it attacks and we have the luxury of controlling 1 of it’s abilities.

We can’t control their movement, we can’t control their DPS, we can’t control their utilities and we can’t control their survivability, either.
That – for a pet-class is horrible.

Proposed Changes:

  • F1 – Current Attack
    F2 – Current Pet ability.
    F3 (changed) – Pet Longest CD ability (Knock for Devourers, Immobilize for Spiders)
    F4 – Current stance system
    F5 (new) – Hold Position (Guard-like – pet will passively occupy a certain spot, no CD)
    (I’m aware F5 is stolen from another MMO. It’s well designed, though. Who can blame them)
    Guard (Shout) – your pet receives stealth and protection and it’s next attack applies cripple (same CD)

With treatment to F5, we could control most of our traits and abilities. This wouldn’t buff rangers by any slightest spot since the only thing it does is promote use of all skill families for certain situations and environments while not giving access to anything we wouldn’t have today. The only thing it would achieve is differing Good Rangers from the bad ones.
The change to Guard is due to it’s position functionality being moved into F5. Other shouts need treatment, too. But that I will address in my next topic.

You forgot to mention that pressing f1 again should call back your pet to come near you.

It’s overpowered because of the boons it provides. Near-constant Aegis and Protection coming up every few seconds is absolutely insane and gives the mesmer much less counterplay than even thieves, as these boons randomly popping hard-counter any kind of strategic play, even when the opponent of the mesmer knows where it is while stealthed. Combined with clone bodyblocking, blur, and the lowest cooldown teleport in the game, the mesmer right now has next to no counter when in small-scale encounters. The only thing holding this build back from being “definitively OP” is that it cannot cap points while stealthed.

As far as WvW goes, condi dire PU is the single most unbalanced build to ever exist. Played correctly, it ha literally zero counters except for vastly outnumbering it, including directly revealing it through Sic ’Em, Analyze, etc, due to innate durability not seen on other professions with such access to stealth and its constant damage requiring no setup. It has become a staple in most organized group play both small scale and large scale due to its durability and extreme utility; keep and tower defense is almost ignored at the moment as there is next to always going to be a mesmer or three hiding somewhere to provide a portal as soon as RI goes. With no tells on stealth, it makes them much more difficult to spot than any other stealth-based class.

If you read my post, here we go again with the “it can’t hold points” mentality. It’s all about roles. PU shatter mesmer Role is not to hold points. People are forgetting that.

My point and my point only,

I think clone death was a tad too much in PvP but needed in pve.

In PvP clone death plus PU plus DE = op. all you do is make clones stay hidden enemy kill clone clone apply conditions and damage and if they don’t kill clone cause they are looking for the really one you shatter them doing conditions and damage. You can almost stay untouched like this while the enemy kill themself..

In pve where they get killing so fast a.and therefore we lose our DPS I would have been nice to have it.

My suggestion will be to have it in pve and available in PvP. Maybe apply 2 vulnerabilities and 4bleed per clone death or something in the manner

OP? I don’t even see clone death in AGs, or ESLs before. Not unlike burn guard who is played in AGs.

Besides they even nerfed Clone death and it was not unblockable anymore + less condition stacks.

Your suggestion is making it even stronger. Debilitating Dissipation was only 2 stacks of bleed OR weakness. It was even RNG so…

Jekkt is actually correct here, I play ranger, 1.7k games in pvp. Taunt has no tells especially with the bird.

Pets f2 without taunt has counterplay since most f2s like the canines have cast time. But with taunt, it procs taunt first, which is instant, making the f2 really unavoidable.

To the one who is saying kill the pet.

Really? Kill the pet? good rangers have great pet management. Goodluck killing the pet solo.

FYI, PU is viable in PVP. Its about about ROLES people. Don’t use that “PU can’t hold a point” argument here.

Not all classes/builds have a ranged auto and illusions need counterplay.

Blame the elitist meta only mesmers on the forums.

Actually, from my experience most people on this forum want to play some easy AI build and farm people with it.

You’d be surprised. I run an Interrupt clone death build before. So would you say Interrupt builds (No PU) are easy to play? This is pre patch btw. Interrupting was lackluster before compared to interrupt now (1 interrupt can get you 6+ effects now, assuming you have them all traited, +IE, IP baseline)

I do agree with you some point but I can only see people who advocate easy build AI are the non so regular forum posters and WvW players. I ran mine in PvP before. I loved it.

I always wanted Null Field to be something like this skill (from an MMO i played in the past), basically removing hostile AoEs and further preventing enemy’s AoEs for a short period of time.

Gasp! Raganarok Online! I would say something like Pneuma and Quagmire or Kyrie Eleison will be so cool as a mesmer skill.

Hi!

Ive just bought a pair of wings with my lvl 13 mesmer and i cannot wear them. Theyre supposed to go on her back which says lvl 10 required but im 13 and i still cant equip them. Ive tried to switch weapons or taking my outfit off but nothing helps. Although i CAN indeed try them on but not equip them :/. Does anyone have the same issue? Maybe im just missing something very obvious here xD!

You can buy backpack straps in the merchant in PVP. Then Equip it. Then Go to Wardrobe (Press H) then click the Backpack and Choose wings as your skin.

Be Careful: Your mesmer needs to be atleast Level 20 before the merchant sells it, Checking the Merchant if you’re under Level 20 will not show Backpack Straps on the choices.

Gravity well: Changed functionality. This well now pulls every pulse for a total of 3 pulls. The final pulse grants 5 stacks of stability to allies in the area.

  • General sentiment from feedback was that the PULL was what was important to selling Gravity Well rather than the float. We’ve gone back to the earlier version where it does the standard 3 pulls but pulled out the ending stun to prevent kitten long AoE CC. I’m still a little concerned about how hard it is to stun break this thing but since it’s got a relatively long cast time and moderate area of effect I think it’s safe to try.

Echo of Memory: Fixed a bug which prevented this skill from working with the traits Illusionist’s Celerity and Persistence of Memory. Lowered slow applied by phantasm from 3s to 2s.

  • The slow from these phantasms seemed a little too good considering they could hit multiple targets (especially if you got 2 of them out). With the fixes to traits that lower the recharge of this skill it seemed appropriate to reduce it a bit.

Well of Eternity: Lowered cast time from 0.75s to 0.25s

  • The idea behind this skill has always been to wait for the big heal at the end, so it didn’t make sense for the cast time to be as long as it was. Healing numbers still might be adjusted in a future BWE.

Chronophantasma: Increased Daze duration from 1s to 1.5s

  • Did anyone try spamming Illusionary Berserkers with Continuum Shift and Chronophantasma? This specific combo isn’t the only reason we are adjusting this trait, but we are watching the types of spikes that are coming from Chronomancer in general.

Illusionary Reversion: Updated functionality. You must shatter at least 2 illusions in order to generate a clone from this trait. (You do not count as an illusion towards this total.)

  • Yeah I know this one probably stings but when we started looking at it it was pretty silly that this trait could let you get so much power out of just using all shatter skills back to back.

Alacrity
The last few changes are related to alacrity. We felt that as it was currently, alacrity wasn’t hitting the right level of impact due to how easy it was to get from the minor trait and how little you could share it with allies. These changes are intended to try and improve how alacrity feels to interact with though traits and skills.

  • Flow of Time: Reduced alacrity per shattered illusion from 1s to 0.75s
  • Improved Alacrity: Increased alacrity duration bonus from 33% to 50%.
  • All’s Well that Ends Well: Changed functionality. This trait now grants 2s of alacrity to allies standing within the well when the well ends.

Slow Stacking
Finally let’s talk about Lost Time. Currently we don’t have plans to change this trait for the next BWE but it’s on our watchlist. This is trait is pretty fun and synergizes well with the other traits while working into the theme of chronomancer. However it can get a little blown out when used with certain skills (looking at you Spatial Surge). We’ll be keeping an eye on this one during the next beta event.

I hope this post has helped to explain our thoughts on the current state of Chronomancer and as a reminder these changes reflect our current thoughts and plans for the next BWE. We may add, subtract or change notes between now and then.

For this beta, I’ll be focusing on Alacrity sharing via wells and Clockdown in WvW. What’re yall looking forward to?

Just tested… Water field can be blasted immediately. Did it 20 times.

Man i think Its my latency,,, My healing turret takes like some seconds before it spins to spout water. Meaning, to turn it into a water field.

I figured out what is the problem, when you use cleansing burst, you need to wait for 2-3 seconds before it spouts out water, then you can blast it.

This doesnt make any sense, since cleansing burst has no cast time.

I think it is bugged, the water field from pressing 6 2 times takes a while to appear.

Probably hype backlash. People are seeing all this news for HoT that looks awesome, making playing the game as it is now appear as “less awesome” in comparison.

This comparison is invalid. No Izerker. That Itself will give you 5-6k damage additional.

Also, You are forgetting that we can weapon swap to a blurred frenzy combo.

Another thing you are forgetting is that you can chain f2 to the burst without clones since IP is baseline.

Thieves cannot do that due to the Initiative system.

Mesmers can easily do ~18k damage in one rotation.

Interrupt is very strong, Coming from me who made the basis of the 4/4/6 Interrupt build. Shatter does not even have the efficiency of disabling and CCing people, stopping resses or stomps.

Yes, interrupt builds are rather strong, probably second after the shatter builds. Few of my suggested changes really affect interrupt builds except the mantra change which is more QoL than really game-changing since you can still adjust the cooldown.

Signet of I insta Cast sounds good on paper, but guess what, traited you have another on demand Distortion, make it with the Illu Inspiration trait.

You can already pass veil 2 times, effectively stacking stealth 2 times, raise the duration and you get 3-4 times, + PU? I don’t think so.

Does veil stack? I thought it behave like temporal curtain. As for PU, this suggestion assumed PU was also reduced.

Increasing the boon from BI is riduculous, if this was pre patch I would agree, Interrupting is brain dead now. Interrupt an AA? proc 5 effects. (assuming traited)

This was a minor comment because I am currently using this in a boonshare build and I thought the duration of most boons is too low.

2 seconds of burning on Staff is OP, how? IE is now baseline. And we now have chaotic persistence. 5 boons which we can easily get gives you 15% condi duration, + smoldering sigils and Balth? 3.5-4 second burns on AA. Even if its RNG, IE will proc it frequently.

Torch burn? Same reasoning as above, IE is baseline, affects torch. On top of all the condis we can give.

Even with full burn duration and full condi damage, the mage is weaker than our other offensive phantasms. I agree that mesmer is already fairly strong with its confusion, and adding burning on top may be too strong… But on its own, the torch mage seems mostly a shatter fodder…

Oops stack is a wrong term and I used a wrong sentence, You can pass by veil 2 times, have it linger long would let you walk at it 3 times, so it would be like getting A free PU in totality of stealth Uptime. (only with veil)

I am playing many different builds. And the reason people run only shatter is not because they are stubborn, but because it is the most efficient. Sure, you can run bunker, you can run power/condi interrupt, you can run phantasm builds etc… But while you can have fun doing it, you don’t reach the same efficiency.
I don’t think there is anything wrong in trying to make different playstyles as efficient. I don’t think any of my suggestions would make the mesmer OP.
If you disagree, please point at specific suggestions and explain to me why they are too strong.

Yes it is efficient, no one is denying that. But if you don’t play in ESLs or AAs, why give yourself a hard time by limiting your choices on builds? In Casual PvP, anything will work. People are just deluded that they play in top tier.

Interrupt is very strong, Coming from me who made the basis of the 4/4/6 Interrupt build. Shatter does not even have the efficiency of disabling and CCing people, stopping resses or stomps.

So it’s just a matter of perspective.

Here’s what you gave.

Signet of I insta Cast sounds good on paper, but guess what, traited you have another on demand Distortion, make it with the Illu Inspiration trait.

You can already pass veil 2 times, effectively stacking stealth 2 times, raise the duration and you get 3-4 times, + PU? I don’t think so.

Increasing the boon from BI is riduculous, if this was pre patch I would agree, Interrupting is brain dead now. Interrupt an AA? proc 5 effects. (assuming traited)

2 seconds of burning on Staff is OP, how? IE is now baseline. And we now have chaotic persistence. 5 boons which we can easily get gives you 15% condi duration, + smoldering sigils and Balth? 3.5-4 second burns on AA. Even if its RNG, IE will proc it frequently.

Torch burn? Same reasoning as above, IE is baseline, affects torch. On top of all the condis we can give.

I suggest a few nerfs and many buffs where needed, to ensure build diversity (currently we only have strong power shatter and condi shatter builds in PvP, no good defensive, no good support, no good interrupt).
I don’t claim the list is accurate, so if you disagree with some points or have addition please tell me. I will keep the list updated with all the changes that are suggested.

Man,, all you guys ganging up on the OP.

I do agree mesmers have a lot of defenses on top of that Invuln. Ports, Blinds, BF, Chaos Armor, Phase Retreat (traited its 6 seconds), Stealth, Reflects.

Not sure about condition removal on IB. I’d rather see it convert a condition into a boon since NM trait tree is all about boons and support. On the side of balance, the heal would have to be reduced or removed as condition conversion is a powerful asset.

Then again, would be nice if IB was merged with Natural Healing in the BM traitline, as every trait that adds something to a pet’s [F2] command is focused in that line and that IB was once in as a GM trait.

Don’t forget that another major issue with this trait is the radius which is too small. It really needs to be buffed to atleast 360.
