If they were talking you should have names in the chat log.
From my experiences, comments made in party chat disappear when you are no longer in the party.
Deleting the gw2cache folder is normally enough to solve that issue.
Other than that, close your game and then ensure that your game is set to Run As Administrator in the shortcut’s Properties > Compatibility tab. Then reload the game and see if the TP will function properly.
Also, have you recently made any changes to your firewall/anti-virus/network settings?

Awesome! Thanks for posting that something fixed it.
With that one I was thinking that there may be an issue of skills unlocking being tied to the amount of XP gained from kills and not to a specific number of kills to unlock it. So maybe there just wasn’t enough XP earned from the down-leveled kills to re-unlock it since it was suddenly no longer unlocked for you. I know I used a mace for the first time on an 80 warrior in an 80 zone and all my skills unlocked from that one kill, so this was what I based that idea on. Still not sure what could have caused so many #5 skills for people to suddenly no longer be unlocked.
Well, happy gaming!
Well that is, indeed, weird. I wouldn’t expect the 24hr reset to trigger unless the chest was actually opened, not when you enter the room if somebody else let you in. Glad to hear that it seems to be sorted out.

I’ve not seen any way for them to be converted over, though I don’t know why they weren’t converted over when the tradeability change was first made. :\
You can always try to go through Support to see if they will convert it over, though I highly doubt they will. This issue happened with all skins when they went back on their statements of them never being tradeable and then decided to allow newly acquired version of them to be tradeable, and as far as I know nobody has ever gotten their ‘old’ version of the skins switched over to the tradeable version.
I really wish you luck if you choose to pursue going to Support to see if it can be switched to the tradeable version and I was happy to help out.
Did you purchase this skin before August 22nd or was this a recent purchase?
I ask because, if you purchased it on August 20th (when zodiac skins were released) or the 21st, then the skin is not a tradeable version of it as that skin was not specifically made tradeable until August 22nd and only skins purchased from that date on are tradeable.
Apparently any skins purchased prior to them being made tradeable remain untradeable. It seems that the tradeability changes to Special Weapon Skins do not retroactively alter existing skins, only those purchased after the tradeability change can actually be traded.

Can I ask what key you have bound to interact?
Would you consider temporarily binding a different key to see if it will interact with the chest?
Hmm…I can’t think of something logical, so maybe it’s time to start experimenting and get creative. >:D
If you want to continue hearing any ideas I come up with to see if this can be resolved, let me know. I love trying to find illogical solutions to obscure bugs. I would also love to know if any of these actually work if you choose to try them out!
(edited by StinVec.3621)
I’m not sure if this issue may be related to a damaged game file or not, but you may consider giving this a try to at least try to rule it out.
Check the game for errors and repair it
I don’t know for sure (complete and total guess here), but would having the keys inside of an Invisible Bag/Safe Box prevent them from being detected/used to open that chest?
Sorry, I have no clue how it works, just throwing out an idea as you mentioned others do not have the problem while you and another person do. Just seeing if this might be something you both have in common preventing it functioning properly.
edit
The wiki also has a note saying:
“The chest can only be opened once per day per puzzle (per account), regardless of how many keys you may have.”
Not sure if this pertains to you or not.

This was helpful! Just noticed I have 32 bit Windows and 8 GB RAM, but only 3,5GB to use. Now I have to find a 64 bit version somewhere :/
I’m glad something helped.
If the computer has an actual Microsoft Windows installation disk then that Windows disk includes both the 32-bit and the 64-bit version of the OS.
If the computer was purchased from a store with Windows 32-bit preloaded onto it, then it is likely that the Restore Disk that came with the computer does not have Windows 64-bit and, as you mentioned, it would need to be acquired elsewhere. :\
However, if the computer was bought from a store, then it should have already been 64-bit if it has 8gig of RAM installed. You may want to check the Windows/Recovery/Restore disk that came with it to see if it has Windows 64-bit on it as an option.
Though why any store would sell a computer with 8gig of RAM with a 32-bit OS preloaded escapes logic.
That is actually not the appropriate crash log that would be needed to determine the problem causing the crash. The crash log needed is ‘ArenaNet.log’ in the ‘Documents\Guild Wars 2’ folder.
Without knowing what this file contains, there are several possible issues that could be causing the problem.
First:
Check the game for errors and repair it

I’m currently at 107%, though I’ve stopped actively working to increase it for a week or so.
You are quite welcome! It’s always a pleasure to help someone with an issue if I possibly can.
I’ve had issues with Synapse several times in the past. Sometimes it would freeze up and crash and I found I had to keep it in ‘offline’ mode for it to not crash. Some wipes and reinstalls of the software and a firmware update later and I still have an issue of my Naga keeping my computer from booting normally and having to disconnect and reconnect my mouse for it to be detected by Windows on occasion. One of these days I’ll get around to solving my own problems.
Glad to hear it’s back and running normally.
Happy gaming!
Not a problem. Also, the forum “Search” feature has been completely broken for well over 6 months (which is the main reason for my starting the tracker thread). I don’t want you to waste time using it in the future, so you can instead use Google to search the forums to actually receive search results. You can specify the actual website, or simply do a search for “GW2 forum bug” and include the keyword for the issue/bug topic you are looking for. It helps to also narrow the search to within the last week or month if you feel it is a recent issue.
Here’s that issue from the tracker:

The ‘Target Nearest’ issue has already been reported and is listed in the Tracker: Reported Bugs and Their Status [collaborative effort by players] sticky thread that also includes a dev response on the matter.
“Marijuna”, the player’s character name, is not the spelling of the ‘illegal in some places’ plant, “Marijuana”.
It has an entirely different pronunciation without the ‘a’.
It changes from “Mary-Who-On-a” (or “Marrow-Who-On-a”) to “Mary-June-a”.“Creative” spellings are also not allowed. Nice try.
I do not like your adding the “nice try” to your comment.
Nowhere did I state that I disagreed with the mandatory character name change…
I was simply stating a correction to the above posters who were stating that the player’s name was that of the plant, which it is not. Even with the name being innocent and justified in nature, as well as the lack of that ‘a’ causing the word to be pronounced entirely different from the plant, its visual similarity to the forbidden word does qualify it as needing to be changed and I actually do agree that it should be changed.
Also, on a personal note, be careful with citing the Code of Conduct…I was infracted 2 days ago simply for pasting a section of the Code of Conduct into a comment that was pointing out to a poster the section of the Code of Conduct they were in violation of. Just looking out for you.

I guess what I’m trying to understand is where the issue is arising.
Is it that you are unable to get it to actually bind the Shift+Key into your current key bindings? Or is the issue that you have it stated in the controls as being the Shift+Key, but actually pressing the Shift+Key in-game does not perform the bound action?
I just tried and was able to bind “Shift” + “3 (Num)” of the number pad to my walk function. To access these extra keys you need Num Lock Off. With Num Lock On your Shift+Key combination cannot be set as the bound key combination. And if you turn Num Lock Off and bind the Shift+Key and then turn Num Lock On then the Shift+Key will not perform the bound function.
So:
Turn Num Lock Off
Bind the desired key combination (Shift+NumPad2)
Press Shift+NumPad2 to perform the action.
Enabling Num Lock will disable this bound key.
If your Razer mouse has the 1-12 keys (Naga for example) and these are the keys you are trying to bind, ensure you have the switch on the bottom of the mouse set to “Num” and not “123”. Also check in your Synapse (side view) to ensure your side buttons for “Num” are configured to the appropriate NumPad keys (side key 2 is NumPad 2, etc).
Again, just trying to understand where the issue is and what may be causing it as I performed the bind and action without issue that you are stating does have an issue.
What should be removed is 85% of the waypoints in each zone.
These two NPCs at Shiverspur Front in the outpost at the Junction Haven Waypoint are carrying on a long distance conversation. Makk is inside the outpost and Fimm is 80+ feet away and outside of the outpost, yet they manage to converse without hollering at eachother.
Makk (seemingly to nobody):
“I see you’ve also found work in this frozen wasteland. Are you studying the dredge as well?”
Fimm (casually replying from 80ft away):
“No. Ice elementals. Ettins, lamentably, are blocking our progress. My reckless krewe leader doesn’t fully comprehend the danger.”
Makk (amazingly able to hear her):
“Ha! And I thought I had it bad.”

Wiki shows the mail message as spelling it properly, but the actual in-game mail does spell it Hoelbrek as Phoebe has reported. -attached image-
It looks like your dye is being stored inside of a Safe Box. This bag type is used to prevent items contained within it from being sold to vendors or on the BLTP (among other functions).
Move the dye to a normal bag to then be able to sell it.
“Marijuna”, the player’s character name, is not the spelling of the ‘illegal in some places’ plant, “Marijuana”.
It has an entirely different pronunciation without the ‘a’.
It changes from “Mary-Who-On-a” (or “Marrow-Who-On-a”) to “Mary-June-a”.
Just for clarity, “num2” normally means the number 2 on the Number Pad, not #2 of the standard 123 numbered keys.
When you say “num2”, which do you mean?:
That’s awesome. Challenged to a Necro duel
As a workaround, you/your wife should be able to party with someone else who is not bugged and he should then spawn normally so the achievements can be earned.
There should be plenty of people around to group with, but if not, what server are you and your wife on? I’m on Eredon Terrace, but I’d be happy to guest over to your server to party up and help with this if you would like.

Any other info that should be added or corrected in the INFO description?
(edited by StinVec.3621)
Most issues that involve effect proccing or skills being disabled can be fixed by switching to town clothes and back. This basically un-equips all equipped items and re-equips them and fixes their being bugged. Binding a key to toggle town clothes is best.
This town clothes toggling also seems to fix the apparent issue of current stats being displayed properly in the Hero Panel, but are not actually active on the character (feeling really squishy sometimes, attacks/skills not doing the normal damage they should be). This stat issue usually happens after being downed and rallying. I highly recommend toggling to town clothes and back upon first login before attacking enemies, as well as frequently toggling to town clothes and back at the earliest chance when out of combat after getting downed.
Also be aware that there can be enemies at some areas of a zone where the effective level transitions from one level to another. I’ve noticed several areas that exhibit this behavior, especially in Metrica Province and Brisban Wildlands.
example:
You are Effective Level 15 at the transition area to an Effective Level 20+ area.
Sometimes you can attack/aggro enemies in the EL20+ area while still at an EL15, so you are basically attacking an enemy that is several levels above your EL. You will take much higher damage from and deal much less damage to these enemies. Try to move as close to the spawn location as possible to cross this dividing area threshold so your EL will ‘flip’ to the EL of the area the enemy is from.
Take note of the red arrow I placed on the attached image:
Going from Venlin Vale (EL15) to the Koga Ruins (EL25) you can attack Fireflies that are of a much higher level than you are while still being in the EL15 side of the dividing line.
Make sure it is not in a slot inside an invisible bag, as the primary function of invisible bags is to keep items invisible from being sold/mailed/deposited.
If you already have hidden files and folders visible, the quicker way is:
Most TP issues are related to some temporary GW2 files where removing them will allow them to be recreated and the TP to function properly again.
Make hidden files visible and clear the game cache
—note—
By “window menus” I mean up at the top of the window where it says “File Edit View Tools Help”. If that bar does not display in your window for you along the top, then click the drop-down arrow next to the word “Organize” and then click on “Layout” and select “Menu bar” to enable showing of the menus (attached image #2).
Another way to do Steps 3, 4 and 5 to make hidden folders visible is:
Inculpatus cedo, you rock. It looks like I’ll be going back to posting the full step-by-step method to make hidden folders visible and then delete the local.dat file (with pics) instead of the quick search method.
Thanks!
I’ve tested it as well and you are correct that Conjure Frost Bow does not grant Regeneration as it should with the Soothing Wave trait active, while Mist Form and Signet of Water correctly do.
Added it to the Tracker: Reported Bugs and Their Status [collaborative effort by players] sticky thread.
Thanks for the PM, Wiz!
Delete the local.dat file
Deleting this file will cause you to lose your saved game settings (graphics, stored login data, etc.), but it has fixed this exact problem for many other players in the past.
The quickest way to do this is to:
Apparently discussing the artist that performs the most iconic song of Guild Wars 2 and the song’s impact on the game is not related enough to Guild Wars 2 to exist in the Guild Wars 2 Discussion forum and it has now been moved to here, to “Linksville” …
sigh
I have no love for snow bunnies unless they are queen of spades.
What does your post have to do with gw2?
Am I in the wrong forum again?
Asja Kadric sang the ‘Fear Not This Night’ song that is in Guild Wars 2, probably the most iconic song of this game. I mentioned this in my original post…
You should listen to it if you have not encountered it in the game yet.
For those that have been dying to see Asja performing live, she has released some videos over the past few months of her covering some great songs.
Perhaps ArenaNet will allow her to perform her most famous song that we all fell in love with…or finally release the video of her ‘Fear Not This Night’ performance from the launch party.

Anet, release the launch party recording of Asja performing it live… please…
Adding a link to your other thread here as interesting points are being discussed there as well.

Also, activating or stowing the Med Kit with an Engineer triggers on-heal effects of runes as Alissah mentioned it actually triggering via "using skill #6” and not requiring an actual heal to be performed.
Also evidenced by the fact that using the kit’s five skills does not trigger the on-heal effects as the #6 skill is not being used despite healing actually being done via those skills.

You know that the gold to gem market is working like the stock exchange don’t you? The price of one gem can change minute by minute. Currently one gem costs 6.75s. For 200 gems, that is 13,52g. The problem is, you can’t say you want to buy 200 gem. You can type in the gold, and see how much gem you can get for it. You need to pay 13.5875g for 201 gem, so if you type in any value between the two, you still only get 200. The extra is for tax
Now, in your video, you managed to get down the price by 10s. For 200 gems, that means the gem price went down by ~5c in the 3 minutes while you were trying.
I really, really wish that one could enter the amount of desired gems to exchange gold for, and that clicking the Buy Button would then charge the lowest amount of coin from the range that amount of gems costs.
I’m glad it helped! I went through several other methods but found none that would correct the custom window size of GW2, though they reset the custom window size of other windowed games and applications. I ended up resorting to suggesting the only thing that I knew would actually have the desired effect.
Happy gaming!
Not a cheat.
There is a range. 5g might buy 100 gems, but so might 5g 3s.
10 seconds later your 5g might buy 102 gems, or 97 gems.
The cost of gems varies every single second as you can see with the refreshing of the amount of gems your entered amount can purchase when you increase/decrease the amount.
Yeah, it is more ideal to tweak the copper or silver to enter the absolute lowest amount possible to buy the displayed amount of gems. Then again, I think that when you purchase those 100 gems you are actually charged the absolute lowest amount of coin for that amount of gems; I enter 5g 3s for 100 gems, hit buy, 5g is the low end of the range and that is what I am actually charged, not the 5g 3s I had entered.
Now, if I enter 5g and see it will buy 100 gems, if I sit at that screen for 5-20 seconds and then click buy, I will receive the 100 gems but as the low end of the range to buy 100 gems is now 5g 3s, I’ll actually get charged 5g 3s even though I only entered 5g. Or it could be that my entered 5g will only buy 98 gems, and that is what I will actually have delivered to me as I doubt they’d charge you more than you selected as willing to spend and entered, but would rather deliver the fewer gems that your entered 5g will actually buy.

Would also love the pet customizations and the return of the pet rez mechanic as CaveSalamander mentioned, as well as finally having all pet names be stored.

Would you please include a screenshot of your Achievements Panel that shows your unlocked skins and your current amount of achievement points?
I don’t know if the Bugs Forum is the best area for your argument against its removal, but I do wholeheartedly agree with your statement that it should not be removed.
The swastika is a symbol that has been used by civilizations for over 7 thousand years and the word “swastika” literally means “to be good”, or “luck”. It is the basis for how 4-leaf clovers were synonymous with being lucky because the 4-leaf clover resembles the swastika symbol. Should clovers on the Magic Find stat also be changed as the shape of the clover resembles the swastika and is also synonymous with bringing luck that is directly attributable to the meaning of the swastika? Just because one guy (relatively) recently used the symbol as the label for something bad, does not make the symbol bad, it makes the acts committed under the symbol bad.
So it is also a symbol of spirituality and peace.
However, from a game lore standpoint, I wonder how this symbol came to be used by the Norn and what its meaning is to them within their culture and spiritual belief structure.
If it has no ties to any Norn ideals, philosophies or spiritual beliefs then it is nothing more than a real-world symbol existing completely out of place in the game world. If there is no tie between the Norn and this real-world symbol then it should not have been included in the first place and should be removed, but removed for the reason that it has no significance to the Norn in the game world and not because people made a stink about it due to it holding significance in the real world.

Sorry. :\
Hope the time goes by quickly for you until you start receiving the bonuses again.
Ok, it seems that you do not get the WvW bonuses applied to your characters for the current match-up when you transfer and the following match-up.
“The North American WvW matchups will reset every Friday at 6:00 PM PDT, which is 01:00 UTC (21:00 UTC-4) Saturday, and the European matchup will reset at 18:00 UTC (14:00 UTC-4).”
So it seems like it is up to two weeks if you transferred at the start of a match up, but 7-8 days at the minimum for the one full match-up.
Ah. WvW bonuses are not applied for like a week or two after transferring to a new server.
