the condi rotation with gs and soul reaping gave me 28.5.

Honestly, the GS should probably be dropped from that build. It will be dead weight when you can’t reliably do ice field finishers, not to mention how awkward it makes the entire rotation feel. In the pic I posted earlier I was using good old S/D + S/D in the new build. I just can’t picture condi GS working even remotely as well in raids with all the ethereal fields from chrono and fire fields from condi ranger etc.

i dont think so. you still have a pulsing blinding (=chilling=bleeding) field, chill on pull, dhuumfire, fear. its not just about ice fields. but i’d say if you pug fractals, sometimes its just better to use old rota. the gs rota is better for decent party and for a boss. if you fight trash mobs, you might get kicked out of shroud very fast.

ps. the rotation doesn’t feel awkward. its actually pretty awesome and tight!

Can we please get a way to exchange them for encryption keys? My bank is so flooded with these, I’m at 80 uses and it takes a lot of slots. Before I’m able to use my 5x uses kits, as I do fractals I keep getting another 1x uses without ascended drops and it keeps coming

to those who say power and condi dps is same – you are very wrong. special forces area doesn’t include your 250 condi dmg thorn rune bonus. and you can’t activate the new engi buff either. my power rotation without night/writ of str gave 27-28k dps. the condi rotation with gs and soul reaping gave me 28.5.
now add 400 condition damage to this 28.5 condi dps and you see how much the dps differs. it’s probably about 32k.

unfortunately, the main flaw of condition build is it relies on ice field, which will be overlapped by other fields.
whirling in fire field results in very short burn stack while ice field combo will only apply chill and the chill will apply your traited bleed, which is long and has 3 stacks. ice field is important. and its a shame really how the combo system works now. we should probably get some options to prioritize which fields our characters want to combo off.

Topic is self-explanatory. It was previously mentioned each raid would have separate currency. It just happened to not be true anymore and even devs refer to new raid as “wing 4” so I think we should get a higher magnetite cap as the content expanded.

I don’t understand why are people so upset about raids having a good-quality, significant storyline. I don’t want raids to have some quick made up stories that don’t matter. Just play the content or watch videos of the dialogues if you want to see it. Earn it and don’t whine.

Greatsword was designed to provide cleave. Necromancer did not have cleave before greatsword. It works best in PvE open world and dungeons.

Like I said, I haven’t tried it elsewhere in ages. I don’t run dungeons and I have no problem with minion aggro in high level fractals mostly because i rarely use a minion heavy build. Lich form 95% of the time and that’s it. There are exceptions of course.

healing and elite minions are required for optimal dps. most of the times i predict when minion aggro will mess up the entire fight, but sometimes unexpected things happen and i could just destroy my minions with transform and now i can’t without wasting food slot.

Halloween foods that transform you will still work. At least in the open world anyway. I haven’t tested them elsewhere in a long time though.

The difficulty isn’t in the gameplay, but in the fact that you need to rely on other people to do it, and thus spend way more time actually trying to make and maintain a group than you do actually playing the game.

i don’t know if someone realised but because we can’t use transform tonics in combat anymore, we essentially can’t destroy our minions when they mess up aggro and stuff like that, so thanks arenanet for fixing the bug in which necromancers had their only little tiny imitation of a pet control…

i trioed it as power necro with ele and war no problem. if u can dodge u dont need heal. just take something to destroy boons so its faster. if you want speedclear it would probably be 2 eles, ps and chrono

I doubt Anet would ever give us superspeed (atleast for core necro) since we are supposed to be the “slow” class. So i think we should go with something more realistic.

I get what youre saying but we gotta push them from their wrong path. They sometimes surprise us like when we randomly got corrupts on an autoattack.

So id push for a simple addition of existing effect, rather than each individual having rework or new mechanics ideas.

Well a corrupt on an autoattack is more in line with Anets theme for necros though…

I mean giving superspeed to necros is like giving chill to warriors.

I disagree with you, I think we need that. If anet made spectral armor turn all incoming damage into life force, you would still have to use 1 utility slot and have a long cooldown for that. The issue is the class mechanic, thats why it needs its own rework.
Your comparision to rev/engi is absurd, every class in the game has at least 2 F# skills already. Up to f5 with engi, ele, mesmer and ranger. Having more F# skills is not an issue – NOT having them is.

Also, the fundamental nature and playstyle isn’t dramatically changed – you still have life force and it depletes while using shroud skillsets, only now you wouldn’t be 1shotted in shroud while other classes invuln for 3 seconds and more, because you could do the same at it’s supposed to be. You speak of change as it’s a bad thing, while change is always aimed to do good

This is what I am talking about – my solution allows the shroud defensive aspect to scale with incoming damage.
I don’t see more F# buttons as a problem, and I don’t see that as reinvention of whole class. What I proposed is a relatively small change. It still keeps the visuals, you keep shroud skills, life force, everything nice about shroud is still there, only better.

Hi I’ve seen many threads that failed to deliver some sort of shroud revamp idea that would actually work in the real game.

To remind why is shroud currently a problem, these are some examples:

- it doesn’t scale with number of opponents
- there is no access for it at the beginning of fight
- it doesn’t work well as a defense (for example, a simple aegis will block an attack that hits for 9999999dmg, while your entire life force will not help mitigate that much).
- it doesn’t work well with your other skills (you’re locked out of signets and everything else)

My solution is:

Out of combat, life force resets to 50% if you have less than that. if you have more, you keep it (no degeneration).

F1 – core necro mechanic – Consume 50% of your life force, for 2 seconds all incoming damage heals you, 10 second cooldown.
F2 – core necro mechanic – Infuse hands with life force, gaining access to previous death shroud weapon skills. It works like engineer kit, but life force degenerates when using it.
F3 – elite spec mechanic – Reaper – Form your life force into a scythe and gain access to previous reaper’s shroud skills. Works same as f2.

F2 and F3 have no cooldown, like engi kits. (traits that affect shroud skill 2 and 4 should probably get icd to balance) life force degenerates but doesn’t get damage from mobs, health bar does!

This solution lets most of the traits remain unchanged (f1 would go for the “when entering death shroud” and f2 and f3 would go for the traits “shroud skill x causes …”)

With that being done, the rest of balancing for necro could finally happen. As we know, necro in it’s current state has no access to many mechanics other classes have, because of the problematic shroud mechanic. With shroud fixed, we could finally get some blasts, blocks, evades, superspeeds, lower cooldowns, more damage, party buffs.

I sincerely hope the devs read my idea and implement it in the game, I hope to at least inspire some good change.

i think superspeed during and after spectral walk is an excellent idea as the first step in the right direction. Anet should stop already with the slow monster theme, it has proven itself to not work in this game so many times now. the combat is too fast-paced.

its perfectly normal that Tazza resets her hp when you pull her out. You’re supposed to fight her in her boss room with the rest of her assistants instead of pulling her away like a chicken.

hurting oneself to gain power has been tried twice in this game across 2 classes, it was a failure in both cases. anet quickly fixed that on rev, left necro as it is. it just doesnt work for the fast paced combat. maybe if the sacrifices produced very powerful effects but that aint gonna happen

Disregarding pinging Epidemics, which would require two Necs, Power DPS benchmark is higher than Condi since the Jagged Horror nerf.

I just tried rotations with all buffs 4mln large golem – power got me 26.5k, condi got me 24.1k.
that being said, condi dps didnt account for thorn rune bonus – with it condi would outdps power. add epidemic and you get a huge dps difference.

bonus info: because gs auto had reduced aftercasts, it got me 2k more dps than rotating between dagger and shroud! actually camping gs is now better

that whole wither condition idea is terrible, we already have weakness to debuff endurance. we need something like gw1 deep wound. reduce enemy max hp by % amount. something useful in pvp and especially pve. necro would suddenly have place in raids etc

And yes blood magic > soul reaping. And a personal choice of mine Bitter chill > Spiteful Talisman. I prefer a higher chance of having 25 vuln up permanently to a single +5% damage buff.

Valkyrie will sacrifice your damage output, because it relies on vulnerability on mob (and having spotter, discipline banner and fury at all times). In reality you will never meet these 4 criteria at all times, it has to be set up first and you also rely on other players. Especially in open world, you’re going to hit a lot of newly spawned mobs across a bigger area.

Blood magic is superior to soul reaping. Vampiric traits will upgrade your survivability much more than more life force. Not only it reduces your well cooldowns, it also gives you a little more damage with the lifesteals that also work in death shroud. That means if you drop all wells, greatsword 4, enter shroud and spam 4&2, you’re gonna heal your true HP quite a lot.

Sorry to bring it down to you, but staff is a terrible weapon, only useful in pvp. If you truly care about performance, you will swap to dagger/focus + greatsword. Staff may also be the cause of your problem with LF generation.

The precision you have from berserker gear may seem abundant but remember many times you fight foes over the level 80. Later in FotM you might even fight mobs of lvl 83 – critical chance on these foes drops down despite the Hero panel showing you a 100%. Apart from that, you need this base crit chance for situations without buffs or vuln downtimes.

Should be buffed in pvp too. Scepter needs life force gain more readily, and so does the curses line. This should read that scepter attacks additionally give 1% life force.

1% is a joke. At least 2.

Dont do it. Don’t convert your gear to valkyrie. It’s only good on paper, think of all the vulnerability downtimes or kitten groups you gonna get. it’s not worth it for the long run.
Only place you could benefit would probably be raids if your party is decent and if you use the right consumables

btw. don’t run soul reaping wtf. blood magic is better, lower cd on wells
