Frankly, much as I am loathe to admit it, I agree with you.
In my opinion, the WvW system is too much about ladders and ranks and tournaments and scores. I’m encouraged to see other, new games making more interesting game-modes, but the whole “score” idea in a “perpetual” zone is horrible.

I’ve run into a Gunnar’s Hold Silver General Guardian more than a few times in WvW recently. He often hangs around the bottom left camp in the borders looking for duels, and he utterly destroys me every time I fight him.
I can ask around. Does he have a guild tag?

The long decline happened over a lengthy period of neglect regarding the most important WvW issues: Population & Night-caps
Arenanet did a grand total of N O T H I N G to address either of these over the nigh-on-two-year period since release, and despite having had a plethora of suggestions, they haven’t even hinted that they even spent any time at all thinking about any of them.
I am of the belief that the all of the passionate WvW devs were the temporary ones that all MMOs fire just pre-release.

A.net needs to learn from the mistakes made in seasons 1 and 2 before thinking of implementing WvW season 3.
If only they did, my friend, if only they did need to learn. The truth is that they can trot out this crap version of WvW until we all go and play the next game with realm-based combat, and leave Arenanet to their beloved PvP eSport nonsense.

Ive spent a long time hoping GW2 would bring a challenge. Two years of playing and the main reason im still here isnt that im having the time of my life, no. Its that im keeping the story fresh in my mind, participating in events that ANET throws at me in the hope that sometime in the not so distant future ANET will bring content that isnt just handed to us on a plate, with a side order of gem store.
I disagree. While the reward is great, I think the Crown Pavillion stuff is TOO much effort. You have to learn the individual tactics of approx 8 bosses, then grind some zerker gear and make a DPS spec to beat the timer. While certainly challenging, this isn’t my idea of fun.

Better escaping
Better healing than warriors (we were meant to have it in the first place…)
Pure of voice to convert three conditions to boons
but not all at the same time, no-one wants guardians to become just a better version of warriors
exactly . most of players focus on damage role of guardian and they missed the real mission of guardians that is in just one word.
Protect !
Until the main focus of the game is moved away from beating DPS with more DPS there’s no way Guardians should be left behind in the above aspects.

No. The top server should get a WORSE reward than the bottom server. Crazy huh? Well… no. Think – who wants to be known as the bottom server? Nobody. We’d all prefer to be known as “The Winners of Season Three EU”. Rewards are just gravy. Get titles for winners in the game and we’re really talking!

How is a food that can be completely negated by a slew of powers available to everyone be OP?
It’s not a slew of powers, it’s a single foodstuff.
Because it is so dangerous, it has to be negated, there is no option. This reduces player choice of food, runes etc, when they are constantly trying to get condi timers down.

For the developers to stop saying “The Guardian is in a good spot”, and get out of that framework of thinking when it comes to Guardians.

What is warrior standard?

You might argue that they have to choose to have signet and our passive heal is free, but we don’t get Adrenaline powers.
Don’t you feel that comparing the two classes in that way is a bit one dimensional?

I feel one of the most important things that people tend to leave out when comparing the two classes is ally support. Over 50% of Guardians skills affect allies, warrior has a much lower number for that.
I don’t feel that that is important in any way whatsoever.

Certainly healing signet is better than vor traited or untraited. But then healing signet can’t be shared with allies. So there are definite advantages and disadvantages.
But VoR has to be traited to affect allies. You’re really not selling this argument to me at all.
The class also can spec “force of will” now which nobody will sacrifice (for example) that VoR-sharing trait for, thus making my previous comments void.

You already have a preconceived notion of what you feel the guardian class is, it prevents you from seeing the advantages of the class compared to warrior. If a something about the class doesn’t fit into your perspective then its discarded as not being good.

The “gem barrier” gets more expensive as long as more people convert gold to gems than the other way around. The fact that it is getting more expensive means that players continue to see converting gold to gems as a good choice. If the price of gems goes down it means less people are converting gold to gems than are converting gems to gold.
So gold-to-gems should mitigate the gold inflation we are seeing somewhat. I wonder to what degree this is the case.
There’s nothing to spend gold on other than luxuries.
People are therefore hoarding gold. It’s value therefore goes down and prices of said luxuries increase.
I would like to see more people using Gold-to-Gems. The gem store is filled with luxury goods (finishers and the like) – the artificial, ever increasingly expensive Gem barrier seems to be putting people off the idea, though.

Even though there are enormous queues on many servers, the devs are either totally turned off re: WvW or terrified of changing anything in case it breaks. Especially now that Habib Loew and Mike Ferguson (and probably a string of other devs we don’t know about) are gone.

The increase in luxury goods prices is a reflection of this. When something is abundant (in this case gold), it’s value naturally decreases. This is the economics of scarcity.

It does not need more league, it need better team balance!
And should there be a season again, it should be a season that improve balance and not one that improve stacking on a few selected winners.
I was thinking more like maybe 4 servers/league, for now?

In fact any season that need more than 1 league per NA / EU is a bad season.
Well, yes, I agree that the bottom/top of leagues are going to be exploited (i.e. tanking/transferring are rampant problems) if there is more reward for coming top of the lower league than coming bottom of the top league.

Silver League EU is dominated by 4 servers which could feasibly be in gold league (but not near the top). I wonder if one manner in which these huge gaps in score (due to number/cover or whatever) could be mitigated (I won’t say fixed) might be by having smaller leagues? Thoughts?

Downed State is a fundamental and identifying key feature of Guild Wars 2.
Arenanet have stated themselves that they want skilled small groups to be able to beat [zergs], but I don’t think changes to Downed State are the route they should take to achieving this.
I suspect that Downed State will be removed from WvW because (the alternative of) overhauling the combat system to appease a few irrelevant sub-forum whiners is too much effort.

The players won’t defend because there are few rewards for doing it, and the rewards for PVD are too high.
Rather than asking us what we wanted in the Collaborative Development thread, I think Arenanet should have laid out what their original vision for WvW was, whether we agreed that it was best to pursue that vision and if so, what we thought would be the best way to achieve this.
Instead, we still don’t appear (from the WvW community perspective) have;
a) A solid vision
b) Any route to achieving said vision

Nope, it’s working as intended, for once. Hopefully you will have to get used to it – a long time ago some of us were advising Arenanet to work on ways to incentivise it, and hopefully they will do so.

Shouldn’t each class have the OPTION to build for one thing or another? At the moment some classes have few options, and single, cheese/cookie-cutter builds are necessary due to illogical/crap traits and skills.
I think that as a player-base we would appreciate a re-evaluation and reimplementation of the lesser-used (you can measure this using your magical metrics) skills and traits.

I look on the map and see that the Temple of Balthazar is contested in Straits of Devastation, for example. If I travel there, then I go into the megaserver and it may or may not be contested in the map I end up on?
Is it possible to walk in and out of the map until I get a map with an open Temple of Balthazar?
