The EotM server mechanic is a mistake – period. I doesn’t give good fights, when you blob v blob with uplevels that die so quickly and are clueless to their surroundings.

It would do some good as they are crutches. As soon as a keep is T3, unless the server holding the keep is not on, you can hold the keep indefinitely against anyone. That is not fights, that is just lazy development.

You blob vs blob in wvw too lol… There are as many equally inexperienced players in wvw…

The differences are that wvw has more running time, less fighting and it’s easier to treb structures from safety.

The eotm map layout is superior in design and forces more fights to happen in the open due to less structures to hide in. Also, the tunnel system allows groups traverse the map better, attack objectives faster and for defenders to make it in time to defend objectives.

There are many aspects of eotm that would make wvw far more enjoyable if applied like megaservers to resolve population issues, timed matches so it squashes the day vs night issues, the supply systems, supply at spawn when keep is taken, fun stuff like wisps and scorps, less structures to hide in so it promotes fighting and tunnels to use as mentioned…

Overall eotm is better for players looking for fights and faster paced gameplay. WvW is boring as all get out by comparison.

Not every tier is blob vs blob.. You know why people leave the higher tiers to move towards the middle or lower tiers? Because it is harder to roam and get into more small scale fights being up top. Some prefer this over having map queues and massive fights. It is fine that you enjoy EoTM but can you please stop trying to force that upon all of us? That is your opinion and I’ve done EoTM leveling alts and what I see and what you claim it is, is way off.

Even if I was to go in it today, it would be easy kills because most players are uplevels. Last time this topic came up I went into EoTM to see if it changed and it didn’t. I roamed and killed groups of 3 – 4 that were trying to get back to the zergs by myself because half of them were uplevels and were probably running pve builds.. You either get on a good map or you have to keep trying to get on a good map.. You get on maps where you are just farmed or you do the farming. You get on maps where people just want to k-train instead of fighting.. You get on maps where if you die players rage because they got killed in a pvp environment.

Sorry but I don’t see any of that in WvW. We die, we suck it up and we go back to fight again. If I want to run around taking things, I’ll follow the pug commander. If I want to roam and try to take camps to bring out other roamers, I roam. If I want to find some friendly duels, I look at the spots where most people duel at. EoTM has 1 play style and that is to follow 1 tag.. WvW has them all.

Either way if you like EoTM go play EoTM. Stop trying to turn WvW into that.

Not every tier had or has the population to blob vs blob.

You have a very limited view of eotm and the great potential some of the elements found there would improve wvw.

Population imbalance NEEDS to cover all time zones on the servers. How will THAT be done? It is impossible. The only way they can do it is with the EotM mechanic of server blending and that does not work.

They need to:

1. Get rid of Arrow carts or limit to what a player can see (not with this peek over garbage either). Also limit the how far an arrow can be used. This would be easy to do as soon as a player uses a piece of siege, they cannot go to options and change their field of view – lock it to the siege.

2. Siege cap keeps and towers as they get upgraded and actually remove siege that is over the cap. I mean putting in 5 Superior Arrow Carts, 2 trebs and 2 ballistas in a T1 tower is ludicrous.

3. Emergency WP – remove.

4. Air ships on SMC – REMOVE

5. DRAGON BANNER – REMOVE Talk about an OP crutch skill.

6. CHILLING FOG – REMOVE

7. Limit AoE skills so they can’t overlap and lower CC abilities. In crease STABO and give each profession a viable STABO skill.

Eotm works pretty great and the pace of fighting is far far better. Most of you are just in denial.

Removing those things will not do anything good. RvR is about mass combat and players need tools like those.

“The WvW team’s current top priority is fixing population imbalance. It’s a really hard technical problem. It has taken us a long time to ship a solution, so it’s been a long time since we’ve shipped significant updates, and of course that hurts.” ~ Mike-OBrien-ArenaNet[

https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/48zlyd/im_mike_obrien_here_with_gw2_dev_team_ama/

At a high level we plan to address core WvW issues such as population imbalance, scoring issues, and rewards. Of those, the first updates you’ll see will be related to population balance and rewards. ~Anet-TylerB

So there we have it. Game over. They. Just. Do. Not. Get. It. Here, lets shovel some rotten food with sugar all over it and wonder why no one is eating it.

They sat on their hands watching everyone leave.. they jump up again to do the wrong thing at the wrong time and can’t put the nails in the coffin fast enough. Then they are going to pat themselves on the back afterwards " we did everything we could" Nonsense when the one thing they had to do to fix it they refused to do. The end.

WHY is this such a bad answer? Sadly, they are not listening..
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/wuv/Adding-rewards-b4-Alpine-will-fail/first#post6021249

Population imbalance will resolve itself when they fix the other issues with the game ( including too many servers). Hello Anet, everyone is sitting in queue for EBG because of the DBL boycott, not population imbalance. There are many options to resolve it that are better than their idea of a godawful alliance system. WvW players do not play WvW for rewards, they play it for challenging, strategic Fun PvP ( which they are not receiving currently).

Most WvW players spend $$ to play WvW, they should just be an incentive to do more instead. Pouring sugar on a rotten plate of food is not going to fix it. What they are choosing to do here is kill it faster.

Considering Obrien is now calling the shots for the game and is the one who thinks WvW players <3 PvE, I don’t think I can stand to stick around any longer to watch this painfully dwindle away a slow excruciating death, it has been nauseating enough to watch as it is.

First bolded quote…

No, population imbalance will not resolve itself now. Didn’t work before either.

Closing servers is not an option, they are not going to shut down and meld servers on the 95%, just to appease the 5%.

Anet is looking to fill up servers and from those it fills the wvw pool with players.

In rvr you have to have sides closer to equal, so alliances or megaserver stuff needs to be in place to make this happen.

Addressing population issues and lack of rewards players faced since launch are both good starts. The rest of the issues will be fixed.

Your second bolded quote…

That’s not true for the majority in every pvp oriented game I’ve ever played. Pvpers want both good fights and good rewards to brag about. You are in the minority on this one.

Go take out plundering from EVE and “king of the hill” from ESO and whatever they are doing for CU… and you tell me how many players will play…

I would definitely back something similar to the old GW1 districts for the maps. Though that system had its own challenges too, it was definitely something workable for large events.

And on a lighter note… John Smith has paired with Susan for this. Please tell me there is a big blue box involved that is bigger on the inside.

Open world pvp maps confirmed!

This master plan will boost ascended gear creation 100 fold and would explain why John bought 4 bajillion thick leather sections recently.

Reward grievences and suggestions

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Swagger.1459

Swagger.1459

Ok, so, I can craft marauder armor and weapons… cool.

I can’t buy any ascended marauder trinkets (no, “zerker + valk” is not the same)… Just forgot to do this like wvw mistforged weapons have been forgotten about?

I have to do LS achievements to get ascended marauder amulets and there are not any ascended marauder accessories or rings or back pieces in game…

I have to be a sylvari for this one particular achievement to be unlocked or have another player unlock it for me to finish. I didn’t look at any other achievements, but there are probably more like this… If not, one “race gate” like this is annoying enough.

These are just a few examples of many unnecessary annoyances in the game that are being imposed on players.

The following statements are not just about ascended marauder gear, it’s about reward decisions by the developers in general, and I’ll try to keep my comments as civil and constructive as possible.

As much as you (developers) try to remove some of those old mmo annoyances, you add ten more in the process. More on this to come in future posts.

Listen, almost no one wants to be forced into a certain game mode ok?

I understand y’all want players to try all areas of the game, and offer unique rewards for doing so, but let them do so on their own terms. Also, y’all should get back to your roots with unique looking “skin” grinds and let players earn or achieve all gear tiers in all parts of the game. Some examples…

Offer paths to obtain ALL ascended and ALL legendary gears to ALL parts of the game. Simplified reward system for any game mode. (Let’s not forget jeweler 500 either)

Ascended gear… X game mode currency + X gold + X crafting mats.

Precursor gear… X game mode currency + X gold + X crafting mats.

Legendary gear… X game mode currency + X gold + X crafting mats + Precursor.

You can also have unique legendary gear skins and tweaked versions for each different game mode to give players incentive to participate.

So there we have our time sinks, game mode currency sinks, gold sinks, common material sinks, ascended material sinks and incentives… but the differences are that we wouldn’t force any game modes on any players. Also, none of what I’m suggesting has anything to do with being handed stuff on silver platters, I’m talking equal game rewards across all game modes- i.e., open world pve meta, wvw, spvp and instanced content (dungeons, fractals and raids).

My suggestions give options and boosts enjoyment levels for individual players. Your current “developer ways” of handling rewards doesn’t do anything except for imposing those same time and gold and material sinks, while killing enjoyment in the process.

I know this thread is tailored to ascended and legendary rewards, but this entire game needs a complete quality and enjoyment assurance review from the bottom up. It should be pretty easy if you always ask yourselves “is this fun?”… simple.

(IMO) Please don't do another expansion

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Swagger.1459

Swagger.1459

I fully appreciate that these are only my opinions, but I don’t believe further expansions will be to the benefit of this game. I understand that there are ‘overhauls’ that are best left for expansions, but this game has also done several different overhauls in the form of ‘Feature Packs’, and I believe that the player base is adequately primed to understand that these feature packs will sometimes change the ways that the play the game.

  • While LS2 was of a high quality, it was pretty apparent that they were regularly taking breaks and cut back on releases in order to work on HoT. So, we were experiencing regular content droughts before HoT was even announced.
  • ‘Point of No Return’ was released Jan 13, 2015. We’ve been in content drought because of HoT for roughly a year and 2 months.
  • HoT was, imo, very rushed. A very cut-down story, coupled with mostly only meta events on rails for 4 maps.
  • A lot of grind in the form of collections trying to make 4 meta events “last” for as long as possible
  • Expansion cost was as much as a full game.
  • WvW update still not in-game nearly 5 months after launch of HoT
  • Power creep via elite specializations hurt build flavor, fun, and viability in PvP

These things demonstrate to me that for whatever reason it may be that all these things happened, Arena Net is not capable of delivering an expansion that the masses find appealing. My (albeit anecdotal) experience to others’ opinions seems to be in-line what I’ve said here. For these reasons, I don’t think that it is in the game’s, or the player base’s best interest to continue to develop expansions at this point.

With the expansion, along with opening the gem store to f2p players, anet almost doubled their income last quarter.

The “get stuff for free” and selling all those “bunnyquaggansparklydisneylookingfuzzy” things and all those subpar low quality gem store items… are not enough to fund the game properly. If anet gets good loot from us, then we get good stuff… No more free rides, it’s killing the game.

You want awesome content and gear and loot and story and professions and roles and qol features? If your answer is yes, then you want all this cool stuff wrapped up in paid expansions.

That’s not like way over grindy or anything… By level 100 a pve player could be decked out in full ascended.

He said 1 item per 100 levels. So that would be 600 levels just for gear not including trinks/weaps. Also make them random with selectable stats.

Actually designing a customizable UI is a crap ton of work. Don’t undersell it.

Actually it’s not, especially if you already have a pre-existing platform to work on. I’ve seen old mmos from ’03 – ’04 with UI that offer infinite flexibility when compared to GW2.

Like someone already said “When” is perfectly valid question. I’m still waiting for “hide personal story” checkbox to actually hide it.

Idk, maybe it’s too difficult for the devs. They might need to outsource a project like this.

Again, if they choose not, that’s fine, you are for sure correct. Look at the NPE changes because people couldn’t figure out this game mechanics. These are the people that Anet seems to cater to in this game. They are the same ones that may not be able to figure out UI customization depending on the difficulty. Just because it’s something you or I could breeze through, doesn’t mean everyone who plays could. Hence, if everyone cant figure it out, then those who can may get an advantage. So, if you can’t recognize that, then there is no point in further discussing this.

Other games…

This is not rocket science. You don’t need to have a degree in programming to do it.

Hey peeps it’s not complex. Every mmo I’ve played allowed you to move the boxes to where you liked to have them or resize and reshape them individually. Some games even have reskins to make things look different.

As for the extra boxes requested… There are food items, utility consumables, seige blueprints, transformations… Could even be for faster weapon changes for ooc… So it’s less clicking the bag and filtering through to find that one thing you want.

Inventory full of blue and green trash to salvage for luck that is basically worthless.

Professions designed to spam #1 and do a couple dodge rolls…

Profession “roles” are basically nonexistent.

And the devs wonder why the game isn’t more successful and the turn over rate from play for free to but to play isn’t better.

The grind is to cover up major game flaws basically. HoT only highlights this even more.

How many rangers feel "robbed" by druid spec?

Swagger.1459

Well, that’s just a different choise of words. Maybe it’s the content you play that does not encourage such a playstyle, but the side heals I can toss out from time to time are just fine with the way (and where) I play.

I play every content except WvW and none encourages the playstyle.
The side heals are never really gonna make a difference. Period.
The green numbers you see from Staff or Regen have no lasting value besides making you feel good about yourself. However, it doesn’t work on analytical type of people who always check results before making a statement.

Plus you missed the point. You still can’t heal when it is needed. You can heal people when you finished the silly mini-game of running behind peoples’ backs long enough.
And you’re gonna miss the heal if the target isn’t stationary anyway.

Druid gave us a lot of nice things.
But what I keep repeating all over and over again is that those nice things have horrible QoL issues as well as awful unfriendly design.

First, they make a difference, they really do. PvP and WvW is all I do, and they definetly make a difference there. Saying the side-heals never make a difference ‘period’ is a blunt and meaningless statement if you don’t specify in what situation are these heals lacking.

Second, I never talked about the staff in terms of healing, which, by the way, proved to be a great selfsustain weapon: with Live Vicarously you secure yourself 200hps alone with the AA, that plus high regen uptime with shouts you’re at around 330hps, you then can have things such as Sigil of blood, SIgnet of the Wild and so on which puts you above 400hps, that’s higher than Warrior’s Healing Signet, then you have your staff 3+staff 5, which puts you waaaay beyond that. The AA does pretty decent damage with Air+fire sigils while retaining all that sustain. Staff 3+5 can also do some decent burst healing to allies, which is all what the druid is about.

Third, I didn’t miss any point because I didn’t state one in the first place. The only bad CA skill is the nº 1, which is a sustained heal in a CA form designed to do burst healing, so you heal more with CA 3 and 4. But that’s it.

Druid is nowhere near as bad as you make it sound. It’s NOT your classic MMORPG WoW copy cat healer, this game’s desing doesn’t have that and does not support it.

From twitchcon stream…

“Bringing heavy healing to GW2, unlike anything you have seen before. Strong support, very powerful in upcoming raids and WvW. Can sustain a zerg train of 20-30 players in WvW.”

Nobody is disputing the improved self sustaining build of Ranger/Druid. Most of them are all the same builds running in wvw now.

We are talking about the healing role. Go spec for healer and go “sustain a zerg train of 20-30 players in WvW” with that “heavy healing unlike anything you have seen before in GW2”… You could take that healing build and go to spvp too.

Stream and record how good the healing side of Druid is and get back to us so we can have a discussion of healing design mechanics and roles and viability and build diversity.

That’s just marketing fluff. Read and interpret the mechanics to make a more informed opinion. The spec is obviously not what that description says but it has its niche.

Note: I could care less about PvE and Raids. Those places are not the ones you should be having a discussion with me. Well, I’m not even playing this game anymore to be honest, I’ve got tired of terrible balance, false promises, empty and shallow ideas, and lack of content.

I’m talking abut wvw and spvp… I made zero mention of pve or raids personally. That was just in the full quote from the dev.

Then don’t defend poor designs just because they made an improved self sustaining bunker that can move better in wvw…

I’m all for those achievements to offer something, but in the time a player accomplishes just one of those, someone else could be fully geared out in ascended.

There should be a way to purchase all ascended gear. Also the devs should make special looking legendary armors and backpieces and weapons… just for the pvp side of the game.

They take into account that WvW awards can be cheated by collusion of enemy servers, so they don’t want to give out anything too valuable lest people forgo the actual game mode to get it.

Personally, I think they are way too cautious about it, especially since WvW rewards are currently far inferior even if people do cheat for them. They got a little better with HoT since upgrade costs were removed but that’s just gold, and a small amount of it.

Im not thinking cautious, I thinking they just didn’t care to put enough thought and effort into creating a decent reward structure. The devs could have easily implemented an ascended earning system long ago. Plus they know how excruciatingly slow the pace of rewards are in wvw. Also, their mentality was to have everybody pve so they didn’t have to waste time doing anything for wvw.

It’s very telling how Raids are given an ascended reward structure because they want to “challenge players” with harder scripted content, but who cares about ascended gear in a highly competitive and unscripted side of the game…

Build savers are on the radar because of raids. I guarantee that we will get dps and heal meters because of raids too. Also, roles and class designs are being looked at now because of scripted raids, not because of wanting to give players better roles and build variety for the unscripted, and more difficult side of the game. Look at how poor the Druid healing role is… I’ve not seen one healing Druid in wvw, not one, but they were sold as being able to support zergs in wvw… Yes, let’s give a gated and reticle aiming heal role on a slow moving form while zergs are running all over. And the devs wonder why every Druid is a self sustaining build instead, except for raids where bosses and players are more stationary.

Given all this, the least the devs could do at this point is take WvW rewards more seriously. I’m sure it’s not difficult.

Surely the devs can can create a fancy new wvw and spvp currency to buy equivalent gear offered in raids and provide paths to legendary gears. The point is rewards offered.

AI fighting rewards are Ascended and legendary.

Player fighting rewards are scraps in comparison.

AI fighting is looking up dulfy to memorize boss and beat them to get best loot.

Players fighting other players is vastly more difficult and there are not any crutches or do overs, but those wvw and spvp players get awful loot.

Priorities.

Player fighting rewards are gold, rare items, weapon/armor boxes, and chances at Ascended gear.

Then you’re grossly over-simplifying PvE. Execution and coordination is far more than just memorization.

Then you say PvP has no crutches, but this is Gw2. The pvp is far from balanced and is full of crutches. Here’s a few you should know: Scrapper, Power Herald, Condi Reaper. In the past, we’ve had even more variety in easy-mode builds. Remember Turret Engi? Terrible in competitive, but absolutely crushed most randoms.

Could the rewards be better for PvP and WvW? Maybe, but also consider how top players were literally farming lower ranks and abusing the most disgustingly overpowered crap they could come up with for effortless wins. What you should complain about is the rewards in casual PvE being FAR BETTER than Raids or even high-end PvP. WvW has a lot more variables, so it’s never going to be easy to balance those rewards.

We can talk semantics all day, but the facts are that scripted combat is given a path to the best rewards. Unscripted combat is given no path to the best rewards.

Why is everything that requires any amount of skill so heavily frowned upon by such a large margin of the community?
No one’s forcing you to run them if you feel they’re too difficult and their rewards are rightfully exclusive to encourage players to get better and go on the raids and even then we’re still getting people that buy their way through it.

HoT is too hard? Well the only option is to literally L2P. Games should increase in difficulty as you get further, not remain the same and allow sloppy play in the highest levels. If you’re in HoT or any future expansion/raid, you should be expected to know how to play your class well.

If you just want a casual game to play, then you still can do that, but you can’t expect to just brainlessly go through it; you’re going to need to actually try.

Sure, raids take skill, but it’s sad to see these “exclusive” rewards are given for memorizing scripted AI and beating them.

Some of the most competent and knowledgable players I’ve gamed with over the years have participated in pvp areas of games. There were (few are still here) tons of amazing gw2 wvw and spvp players, but sadly there were/are zero “exclusive” rewards for these pro wvw players and a “meh” “exclusive” item in spvp. Sad.

What are leagues then? Badge next to the name is exclusive to PvP, as are the Legendary division titles.

“Their rewards are rightfully exclusive”…

So legendary armor and all those purchasable ascended are only offered to players that memorize scripted AI and beat it..

Sorry, but being competent in pvp areas of any game is much more difficult, yet players get nothing. Oh boy… Some titles and an awful looking back piece in spvp… Yay.

So if you don’t like the rewards, go complain in the pvp section? Some people do enjoy having a title or backpack that most other players will never have.

Now, just memorizing scripted AI seems to simplify the idea too much. Assuming the next wings are more difficult (which they should, because otherwise this is a failure), we should expect complete wipes with a single member committing a single mistake (actually, that could happen in Spirit Vale already, but some errors can be recovered from). You can’t tell me that’s easy just because it’s predictable; it’ll still take long practice hours (or days or weeks for most players).

Also, your “difficulty” in pvp varies a lot. Some metas get unkillable god-tanks or unstoppable killing machines that require essentially no skill and matchmaking that has allowed players to literally farm each other.

But raids ya know… Leet content with the best reward structure lol.

And yet, the rewards for the raid are garbage in terms of gold/hour. I’m sure you get a lot more money playing low-rank PvP than raiding.

PvP here is World vs World and Structured Player vs Player…

Gold? Yeah, let’s talk gold per hour in wvw or spvp…

In raids you earn currency to purchase ascended gear, with more varieties coming. Raids will also get legendary armor… All this for beating scripted AI.

Tell me what players can earn in wvw and spvp compared to raid rewards?

Ascended Gear only for Power - CHANGE THAT!

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Swagger.1459

Swagger.1459

Wahoo and hello!

I’ve been bothering myself about ascended gear and it’s effectivity lately. Currently, the only ascended gear you really want are trinkets (because of the huge stat difference) and weapons.

But the weapons are only so great because their weapon strength increases by 5% from exotic to ascended, which is useless for anyone else but power focused players.

Noone who is sane and not dirty rich would ever bother with an ascended armor or even weapons as a healer or condi profession. It just doesn’t matter and it costs too much.

So what’s the solution to this problem? Why would we want ascended armor? Why would anyone but power professions want ascended weapons? I suggest the following:

Weapons

  • Ascended weapons should no longer grant 5% bonus weapon damage.
  • They instead should have an additional note to them -> +5% (half for 1-handed weapons) damage and condition damage (not the stat, as a modifier like the 6th bonus of the zerker rune or GotL).
  • The 5% increased stat bonus can still stay.

Armors

  • Ascended armors now additionaly have a note to them -> +X% (according to armor piece) healing effectivity and -X% (according to armor piece) incoming damage and condition damage.
  • Each piece has a different % number, like this: chest > leggins > helmet > shoulders = gloves = boots.
  • A total ascended armor should grant 5% more healing and reduces every incoming damage by 5%.

With these changes, nothing would become imbalanced, but there would be a reason for specific professions and roles in every game mode to gear for ascended stuff. A Druid may want an ascended armor asap, a DD wants the weapons to be ready asap (even condis!), and tanks may want to have both.

What do you guys think? Don’t you think something has to change too???

Greez!
- Xyonon

There is not a problem with gear. The problem is that certain character attributes are not scaling well. Also, if you buy most materials off the trading post, instead of gathering and salvaging, then expect to spend more gold.

This is all flawed gear thinking too. You are basically asking for a base +5% to ALL attributes, on top of all the other increased stats.

Weapon strength is for direct impact damage.

https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Weapon_strength

Defense reduces direct damage.

https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Defense_

https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Damage

Other attribite stats are other attribute stats.

Condition and condition damage are handled differently.

They are all different, you can’t just mash all these things together.

What's going on with WvW rewards?

Swagger.1459

Let’s have a look at Raid vs WvW rewards…

Raid…

Future Legendary armor. Legendary armor for defeating scripted AI mind you.

Plethora of Ascended gear and more on the way.

Ghostly Infusion aura.

8 minis.

https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Priory_Scholar_

On Rewards

Other than that, we’re making improvements to show ascended gear is awarded. You’ll have a lot more choice instead of getting something you can’t use.

On Rewards

Any plans on adding all the ascended trinkets to the vendor? Right now those are the only rings/amulets with stats like assassin, viper, etc

Yes, I’ve got a number of improvements/fixes for Spirit Vale that will be coming out with the next raid wing, and this is one of them. You’ll also be able to infuse the rings and backpack, and extra raid miniatures will no longer clutter up your bags.

WvW…

So what is the special WvW currency and their rewards?

Unobtainable tournament claim tickets.

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/WvW_Tournament_Claim_Ticket

Unpurchasable rewards that are recycled except for the Mistforged weapon skins.

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Battle_Historian

Mistforged weapon skins were introduced in spring of 2014 btw.

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mistforged_Hero%27s_weapons

So Raid rewards are vastly superior to anything offered in wvw or spvp for going on 4 years. Nice to see that Raids received superior rewards initially, and 5 months later are getting improved.

So what’s going on with WvW rewards?

It would harm the non HOT players for the reasons I’ve already stated.

I don’t PVP so I’m ‘harmed’ by not having 8 out of the 12 daily options available to me .. that’s my choice, same as someone who CHOOSES not to buy HOT.

That said, I don’t agree with this suggestion, assuming the OP is suggesting a zone meta is selected for the day .. and given that the HOT zonse are meta-or-die affairs there’s nothing else to have as a ‘daily’, unless you’re going to suggest a daily Adventure, but I can’t believe you’re that much of a masochist .. Anet haven’t provided any figures about the percentage of failed metas over successes but I expect the success rate is a pitifully low percentage .. not least because so many events in the chains are bugged and stall!

Eh, no need to assume when you could just read.

Dailies at this point are pretty self explanatory and obviously there are a number of different ones.

Players have been wrecking the meta events for months.

Bugs exist around the game, just what it is. There are a plethora of non bugged events and such.

That is you I am quoting to make a point. You either buy something or earn it, players can’t complain if they are not willing to either of those. Players who bought HoT are entitled to everything it offers or could offer, those that don’t buy are not entitled to anything.

No. “Hard core” and “Casual” players can not co-exist, because each demands the others content be destroyed. It’s as simple as that.

I get what you are saying, but with the world as big as it is, don’t you think they could create areas that would cater to both. Maybe a section of the world would cater to hard core gamers, and another that casual players would get a lot of fun out of without being over challenged.

I see the need for both. There are people who only use a game for entertainment and often don’t have time to commit to it in any way. And the hard core gamers that use it for sport need to be challenged.

In my opinion, I just thing there could be areas geared toward one or another like zones are character leveled.

In terms of -actual- content? yes, you can design an MMO to facilitate the needs of all. However, that isn’t how it works out.

See…the hard core people need rewards in terms of loot, the casual people see that loot, and want it, but they don’t actually want to put in the time to get it.

Thus begins the great decline. Casual players aren’t satisfied with just having their own content, that they can do. They want to do (and benefit from) all content, regardless if they put in the time or have to skill to actually do said content.

Example: The Jumping puzzles that came with the holiday events. Even know the reward is useless and cosmetic, people flamed and roared on the forums about how difficult the puzzle was, and that they wanted easy mode versions of it, but still wanted the rewards.

It’s because of this, that casual and hardcore can never co-exist.

I think you might be confusing “casual” with “entitled” and it’s a common misconception on these forums. An allegedly “casual” player who won’t do fractals complaining that he’s being denied access to the ascended gear doesn’t mean that every casual player is complaining about it.

I’m a casual player and I’ve been co-existing with hardcore players since launch, so have many others. Not every casual player wants the rewards without putting in the effort. I’m not brilliant at jumping puzzles, I couldn’t do the Mad King’s Clock Tower to save myself. I complained a lot about that one… to my friends. I shouted at my monitor, my mouse, my keyboard and even my hands a couple of times but it was my fault I couldn’t do it, nobody else to blame. Making it easier probably wouldn’t have helped me much. I did the rest of the Mad King stuff and it was fine.

I didn’t even attempt the Wintersday jumping puzzle because I’m not brilliant at jumping puzzles. I did the rest of the Wintersday stuff and it was fine. I did Flame and Frost and I did Southsun Cove, no real drama there it just took me longer.

It took me months to get 100% World Completion but I got there. It’s going to take me much longer to get my legendary, but, barring accident, injury or illness, I’ll get there too.

Suggestion- add HoT dailies

Im fully aware, I’m the one who made this topic. I suggested to add hot dailies to the current daily list.

Your augment is invalid and doesn’t make any sense.

Players can buy the expansion if they want. If the don’t want to buy HoT, then they don’t get stuff from HoT.

I said that players who don’t have HOT would be disadvantaged in the acquisition of dailies and they would be. HOT players would have more options, non hot players would have less options than the HOT players. That’s not an argument, that’s a fact.

Then they can buy the expansion to get those additional options that others paid $50-$100 to access…

I’d like to quote you…

“I think you might be confusing “casual” with “entitled” and it’s a common misconception on these forums. An allegedly “casual” player who won’t do fractals complaining that he’s being denied access to the ascended gear doesn’t mean that every casual player is complaining about it.”

If you don’t buy something then you are not entitled to it.

Players who won’t buy HoT shouldn’t be complaining about being denied access to dailies, masteries, gliding, certain rewards, raids, future living story 3, future legendary armor…

Like Shatterer, it’s a big wait long time, spam 1 event. It’s time to make it harder like it was before.

Thanks for your support

I would prefer the devs not waste time on random zone bosses. Dragons are the main protagonists in the game so they should be upgraded to be more interesting, not trash bosses like these.
