For a complete set purchased with laurels, it will cost a whopping 150 laurels (180 if you want infusions)… Those numbers ARE excessive considering we are gated to a MAX 55 laurels per month… You are asking players to wait an entire 3 months (and 16 days if you want infusions)… The wait is an entire QUARTER year and season for enough laurels for a complete set… This IS too much waiting and gating and cost, so here are my suggestions…

You’re looking at time rather than effort. It takes little effort to get laurels as all that you have to do is simply log in. You don’t even have to play the game. Fractals and guild missions require you to actually do something.

Yes, I looked at time. I also mentioned fractals and guild missions as well in the op. I also offered suggestions to supplement laurels through currency purchases or changing some numbers.

No effort, little effort, average effort, a lot of effort… That doesn’t matter… I’m talking about how we are given laurels with regard to ascended items.

Sorry, ascended is common now. It’s easy to obtain armor and weapons… I can buy all necessary mats to craft what I need and am only limited by gold (with the except for initial laurel recipes)… There is a disparity with “earning” or purchasing ascended trinkets compared to other ascended gear…

Not everyone wants to run guild missions or do fractals… Does the game preference argument have to be brought up again?

It would take a brand new account 1 month to gain access and craft a full set of ascended armor and weapons, limited by initial ascended recipes for laurels. That’s a disparity when you compare…

So there needs to be a “big deal” with options or changing the timeframe to be more realistic? No, not when I can fire up my credit card and buy everything else, and even stuff like first gen legendary weapons…

The laurel “hand outs” are like a patent handing out a piece of candy to their kid for doing daily chores… It’s silly, especially when you look at all other factors… Even more silly as a customer…

Development for elites and weapons?

Simple questions…

What is the planned release pace for future elites? Always tied to each expansion?

Assuming, as said, the plans are to give all professions access to all weapons, so how will this be handled since there is unequal access to weapons currently? Always tied elites?

Are elites a limited in quantity thing?

Will weapons be “just given” to professions outside of elites?

We don’t need specific dates, just curious how all this will be handled.

Perpectives on the Druid

Lot’s of these but here goes anyway.

Did Anet actually look at the mythology of Druids before deciding to make them a healer? Only thing centering around healing was their knowledge of plants and herbs.
To quote “History and Myths of Celtic Druidism”
“Though, druids could heal, using some sort of magic or just using herbs, it was mainly the work of physicians.”

It was their knowledge of nature and their supposed abilities to use magic based on nature, understanding of animals, and the fact that they were considered prophetic that made them powerful in their culture.

And what about the legends that they were shape shifters and could also change OTHER PEOPLE into animals? That was where their real power lay. Imagine that as a power. Change an ally into a rampaging drake with temporary special abilities, or change an opponent into a lesser threat, even if only for a few seconds. Now THAT would be something.

On another note, they were worshippers of fire and supposedly had special powers in that area too. Would like to see the flaming arrows of the original GW come back, along with some other fire abilities attached to using the bow or mastery skills.

And by the way, they used wands, not staffs.

I for one, would prefer to see the healing aspect dumped and a more historically correct Druid be brought into play. Keep the existing Ranger healing as that is more based on nature anyway, but don’t turn them into an area healer.

If you want to boost healing you basically have what D&D players would consider a Paladin in the Guardian. Go that route. In my opinion, the current path for the Druid is making the Ranger a much less desirable character class.

You are a little too late. Plus, to apply exact “real world” logic to the GW2 matrix is just unreasonable. There are already many connections that make logical sense, and all ideas are a mix of reality, legends and fantasy…

Also a version of “Heartseeker”… Make all dagger attacks function better than the Thief while we have Druid elite active, and have the blood sacrifice of our enemies build up “something something force” for our version of “Continuum Shift” abilities.

@Cyninja… There are lots of methods of course, you miss the points…

These items are available in wvw, so are you saying that’s not an “intended method”… Are you going to tell all the players who prefer the competitive aspect of the game that it’s not an “intended method”?

Some players prefer fractals, so great for them… You can’t force them into other game modes if that’s not desired…

Your wordings of “intended method” and “it’s not meant” and “highly inefficient”… do not apply to the spirit of this thread and are just “paper covering holes” commentary.

There is nothing wrong with suggesting to reevaluate these laurel systems…

Better suggestion:

Combine ALL stats for trinkets into a single PvP-like amulet and make that the only slot for stats. Then make jewelers able to craft amulets only. Then leave a back slot open for back skins only.

All problems solved. They really should have done it this way from the beginning.

Those are both interesting ideas… Not sure how tough it would be do that, but that could leave slots to be retrofit for things like auras… Crafting would be great too, just not sure if that will come.

In the meantime, I believe the laurel allotment/acquisition and purchasable ascended items prices should be reevaluated.

Sitting here looking at the WvW laurel vendor prices for ascended amulets, accessories and rings…

Ascended amulet is 20 laurels. Has the highest stats compared to others and only a slot for 1, but it is the cheapest.

Ascended accessories are 40 laurels each. There are slots for two and have lower stats than amulets, but are twice the cost.

Ascended rings are 25 laurels each…

First suggestion, as I have mentioned before, give us the ability to earn laurels besides the daily waiting and allow us to trade some type(s) of currency for laurels.

If the above suggestion is not a consideration for whatever reason, I would recommend drastically lowering laurel prices for these items to like 7 laurels for each ascended piece (plus wherever currency/material) and 4 laurels each for infusions so a complete set can be had monthly. OR, at very least, 10 laurels each (plus currency/material) for these ascended pieces…

I don’t care how all the “maths” work out really, but I do believe it IS more than reasonable to allow players a set of these ascended items on a monthly basis.

Edit- For the community. I’m not interested in knowing how many laurels you personally have or how long you have played or being told to do fractals or guild stuff… Players should be able to play the content they want and have equal access to these items in various game modes. I’m also sure that prices for these things could be reevaluated across these activities too, but I’m not looking into the vendor prices anywhere else. The points of this thread are laurel prices for ascended and laurel acquisition.

How about this…

20 individual shared slots total, not five…

Players can trade in duplicates of “stuff” bought on the gemstone for slots on a 1 on 1 basis…

Offer shared account BAG slots too…

while multiple classes can fill the same roles no one would want them to do it in exactly the same way, the game would be far more boring and stale if all you did was change the title of your profession but they all played the same way. Druid is in an excellent place in pvp atm, in pve-raids they are in a good place, in general pve the new QoL changes stated will increase the druids rewards by a ton, the only place they might be lacking is WvW and this is based on zerg mechanics.

anet didn’t create zerging the players did.

CA1 and 2 shouldn’t have as long a delay between cast and effect times. Staff needs either a 25%+ increase in base damage or the addition of conditions to make it into a hybrid weapon. pets need a real damage increase and a better method of reducing all the aoe damage they take.

Umm that’s why the devs are working on “roles” and that’s what the spirit of this thread is about…

Spvp… Smart players know how to focus fire and interrupt that very noticeable CA form… Movement is also the bane to CA healing…

Yes, Ranger/Druid is a better self healing bunker than before… Yay…

Goodie, we can heal at more stationary pve bosses… Stacking and dps and healing oh my… Quite good and compelling gameplay right?

Ok, so Anet didn’t create this game or the encounters that require mass amounts of players to overcome? Okie dokie… Sorry but “zerging” has been part of the game design since day one…

Sure, things need to change, but a heck of a lot more than those suggestions…

Well that’s basically what I keep mentioning in various threads.

Druid is not useless. It still is the best burst healer and the best healer. What’s the problem then?

It has the most horrible design in whole gaming industry. And I don’t really exaggerate here. For Christ’s sake – it’s way too obvious for anyone to be able to deny it.
Regardless of how much you can cheat on the mechanics by weeks of brainstorming and tests – it still stays the most horrible designed role in the game.
Right after Most Dangerous Game. And it’s just so much wonder that ranger got both of these. It’s absurd how this has been implemented.

Druid became a healer…
But in order to be a healer – he 1st has to make his team take damage (this is just absurd. ANet – if you are reading this – you deserve a slap across the board)
Then if you become a healer, you burst all players to full again … … … And then have nothing to do for 12 seconds. So you naturally leave CAF. And now everybody is at full health and you curse yourself for playing Healing Power build because if they take damage you won’t have enough Astral Power to heal them back again.

Which means you are most efficient if you play full berserker and you learn how to keep your team damaged.
That is not a role.
That is ANet’s stupid idea of a joke.

I don’t have all the answers obviously, but I agree wholeheartedly with you that “it has the most horrible design in the whole gaming industry”.

Also, we all figured since anet wanted to make “roles” a thing, we wouldn’t get this mess within a mess…

WvW / support healer – Druid just doesn’t cut it due to the fast dynamics and pace. Let us face it, some classes are broke (pointing at revenants) others have unbalanced skills (points to diamond skin elementals), and then there is the whole CC / red circle of death crap on the ground whereas we all are playing the who can do what kitten Van kitten all taught us as kids to do when on fire. Stop, Drop, and Roll…in GW2 layman terms, dodge

Sure, maybe in Raids we are fine. Sure, maybe in sPvP – although I’m not 100% I’d agree but I can be incorrect, I guess 2 out of 3 isn’t bad. WvW on the other hand Druids are not great and honestly that roles should have went to the Guardian. We don’t need multiple heave armor classes in my opinion but maybe my opinions are off topic.

Yup. The bolded part is what I’m talking about.

This game was not designed as a stand still game, hence why we have freedom of movement and dodging.

Profession performance should never be measured by standing still and stacking numbers, such as on raid bosses or whatever pve bosses.

True and performance numbers are the actual “in the heat of combat” numbers seen in modes like wvw and spvp. Even in pve (in some cases) the CA form is still user unfriendly because you have players running around…

While the temporary and gated and reticle aiming CA healer mode can “get by” in a raid or pve it’s not the true measure. And once movement is required, that is where CA completely falls apart. Also, when healing is needed at certain moments, sometimes our CA healer is not ready. Poor design.

We can “get by” in a raid or pve with the small diameter aoe reticle aiming on a cool down design, but it’s horrendous for wvw and spvp because the freedom and nature of movement.

My personal opinion as someone who has played rvr, zone pvp, arena.. for close to 5 years… The Ranger, Druid and CA are a complete mess.

These “forms”/builds need to be better defined. Yeah Ranger, Druid and CA can do a bunch of stuff, but I’m just simplifying below so nobody jump down my throat.

Ranger… Make it high damage as main focus, medium and light everything else.

Druid… Medium direct damage… Medium burn (sun theme) and bleed (thorn/nature theme) conditions… High control (thorn/nature theme)… Medium heal… Back line support…

CA (perma form that can be turned on and off at will… could be remade into its own elite truthfully)… High heal (“celestial”)… Light cold/slow (it’s cold in outer space) control and condition damage… Mid range and frontline support with more resilience for being closer to or in the fray…

See how smooth Ele/Water/Tempest heals overall? See the superior reticle diameter and casting… See all the pbaoe heals it can pump out? Ele is an extremely movement oriented battlefield healer AND damage dealer and CCer… CA needs to be a superior healing model period, with less damage output to draw the distinction. This will allow CA to shine, but not step on the toes of Ele in the damage department… They will both remain different and useful.

I spent a long long long time playing rvr, zone pvp and some arena, and I have played many roles. Ranger, Druid, CA needs to change individually and as a whole, because it is a mess and completely subpar.

I know, I know, this profession is not useless, so don’t jump on me with your “maths” and stats. Just open your eyes to the bigger pictures.

Two words: Mounted Combat.

Guild Wars 2 already has a wonderfully intuitive skill system, wherein your character’s first five slots are dictated by what he/she is holding in their hands. Its a great tool and it works. Now, suppose that what the character is holding is the reins/remote/gearshift of a land-based mount… the possibilities are epic.

Whether you’re crushing your enemies under the treads of an Iron Legion Scout Tank, ripping them asunder with the talons of your Seraph-trained War Gryffon, goring them on the horns and hooves of your Shiverpeak Dolyak, punching them down with the stony fists of your Asuran Battle Golem, or bringing the fury of nature to them aboard your own Caledon Oakheart, they’re gonna have a bad time… and YOU are gonna have an absolute blast.

But, that’s just my two cents. What do you all think? Mounts in GW2: better off absent? just another speed boost? or This. Looking forward to seeing your ideas as well.

They would have to redo EVERY skill that has an animation. That is not going to happen and it is a waste of resources when that money and developer time could be used to start to fix up professions properly.

At the rate they’re killing the game, 3 servers per region ought to be plenty.

Yeah, we can only imagine how desolate wvw will be by that point.

Such poor development decisions and timing and forethought. I’ve never seen a game company make such blunders and not make changes right away.

Well hold on a sec here folks.

Anything that has such a dramatic change in proposed dates means that something major got scrapped, pushing a release date a significant time into the future. Even mid-2016 is still six months development time. That’s not a short period of time. So they have to go back to barebones and revisit their initial push.

I’m hopeful for the first time in months.

It likely means they read this forum and read reactions to proposed changes and now are going back to rethink it.

This is a good thing.

You’re assuming that they’re actually going to take that time to develop WvW content instead of simply re-allocating more people to work on Living Story 3 and other PvE garbage.

I think you’re letting your optimism cloud your judgment; we’ve been down this road before. I know the flavour of this carrot by heart.

Yes, Jayne assumes a lot.

There was not a “big change in proposed dates” because we were never given a date in the first place.

Also assumes we are not getting megaserver tech/alliances/cross server stuff… Doesn’t take much to figure out what “population balance” could possibly be or how it could potentially be handled.

Having said that, it’s probably an alliance system that puts together 2 matched servers inside wvw based off of all current population numbers to make each side as close to equal as possible.

Second guess is the 3 sided eotmesque system.

We shall see.

So I could buy one shared slot, and permanent bank access to put in it? That way I can keep all the stuff I want to share in my account bank, which all my alts will have access to, wherever they are in Tyria. Sounds like a bargain; you only need one slot, if you put the right thing in it

I support this and I think It’d be a great Idea in general. I do not like the fact of servers being removed and I want the old boarderlands back myself. If only anet would take the time to cater to the game mode that has half of their playerbase. I only play wvw and its all I do.

It’s a poorly thought out idea.

Devs are not removing servers.

You’ll get the alpine back, probably when they make a snow map so there can be 3 unique BL maps in place.

I’m unhappy about the whole thing too, but at least they have worked on something for the past year. Unfortunately, though, it willbe too late for the current players who care… The new age will come eventually, but by then anyone who truly cared will be rooted somewhere else…

I really hate to say this, but this 700 gems for 1 singular shared slot is completely unacceptable. I’m sorry.

Considering how bombarded players are by inventory junk by your own design, all the weapons and armor and plethora of things we have to lug around… this IS a completely tasteless thing to do.

I suggest upping these to like 20 shared slots each or 1 shared bag slot for each one purchased.

You use the shared slots for a few choice items like copper fed salvage o matic, royal terrace pass/captain’s pass, bank/tp contract, etc.

You don’t need a lot, I think it’s a little pricey yes but I’m happy having bought a few slots for my salvage kit and royal terrace pass (now my alts won’t get kicked out and have to go fetch the pass from the bank to get back in)

It’s enough space because of what it’s being used for rather than just general inventory. Whether or not it’s worth the price charged is up to the consumer It’s just like the royal terrace pass itself, they’re selling a convenience.

People asking for refunds.

What about people that were smart enough to know that a shared slot would come and did not waste in multiple coppers and tools?
It would be unfair that people get a refund while all this time they got extra comfort, while people that were smart did not, there should be a prize for being smart, not dumb!

I want my 9000 gems.

Well, considering the TP price of the Permenent Bank Access spiked “Before” the patch, somebody did know it was coming.

Me, I don’t see the need for it. I do see the usefulness of it (keep a salvage o matic for everyone to share, or maybe a costume brawl item or some other gizmo-class item that you like using a lot, maybe an endless tonic)…. but I think it’s kind of silly.

So I’m not buying it, for that reason. You can choose not to for its cost (which I agree is kind of high; 500-600 would have been my estimation of its value). But I can definitely see others getting it.

It’s definitely a QoL convenience, plain and simple. Many are willing to pay for such things. Others do not. Still others pick and choose their perks, weighing cost and utility.

20 shared slots though? Definitely very much overboard. I really don’t see it topping 10 even in the long run. As for the price…. Anet may tweak it if it doesn’t sell, but I don’t think that’s going to happen. It’ll sell.

We shall see what happens. I have 2 extra copper salvage matics and 3 extra gather tools… That’s 4,600 gems that I paid for convenience that could be recouped and spend 2800 instead for these slots. That gives me a surplus of 1,800 gems for bl keys or something.

No, I’m not cheap either. Had 8000 gems already, just bought $300 in gems and exchanged for gold because rates were good, bought 25 bl keys for 2100 gems and have 8000 gems left over… It’s the principal of the matter folks.

kitten, yesterday i bought another copper salvomatic so i have 1 for each of my 3 chars, wish i had of known sooner i would have bought a slot.

Yeah, if this doesn’t change I’m going to go through my inventory and ask for refunds for any multiples of items I bought for characters… Off the top of my head I have an extra 2 copper fed salvage o matics and a set of getting tools. Then I’ll buy those slots and save some gems at least.

Recognition of Your Support
Participation for events is getting an update! Supporting your allies will contribute toward event participation in most events across Guild Wars 2. You must still actively attack a target to receive rewards from them, but as long as you land a few attacks you’ll also get additional contribution from applying boons, removing conditions, reviving allies, and healing allies. These will all generate bonus contribution on top of your attacks, so players who mostly heal/support can earn the same credit as players who do large amounts of DPS.

This is aimed to us Druids, i don’t think the reven have any problem tagging the target… I’m sure it will need work and won’t be all perfectly fine at the beginning but this is a good step towards the healbot theme we have.
It’s still there the problem in WvW where you won’t get rewards for healing your allies but i’m not sure what can be done, except powering up the druid.

What do you think? No more bronce medals?

I never had issues getting gold for events, I had to spam damage to build AF anyway.

I don’t say this often at all, but if you were having issues before, you’re doing it wrong. sorry.

Druid/CA Overhaul Needed

Yeah, time to get on the Druid/CA healer ball. This game and professions are stale, players want good roles to play ok?

I know I certainly don’t want to play a gated and timed and clunky support role, where I have to use aiming reticles to chase down my team and hope they stand still long enough to be supported… And I certainly don’t want to play a Druid that is nothing but an AF generator so I can be allowed to do “herding cats” healing for 15 seconds, then rinse and repeat…

And if y’all want to really go into it, GW2 is “play for free” and doubled their monthly concurrent user base back in October… GW2 had 3,100,000 individual player log ins then… Yet your wvw is still dead, though, right? That’s the power of no monthly fee in action here right? I certainly don’t see the “no monthly fee” doing anything to save our precious wvw right?

And y’all think the creators of daoc, who are now creating an entire new pvp game, won’t make an amazing and popular rvr game? Yeah… and they can change payment models too any time they want, but the point is that GW2 has gotten a wake up call from all this…

When that first map gets filled, a second map is made…

When this second map is full, a third map is made…

And so on…

That’s called Megaserver… Been in place for almost two years in all areas of the game except wvw…

Edit- do you understand why eotm Megaserver is seperated into 3 colored sides?

Megaserver separated things as did EOTM – but the megaserver did something much worse to WvW than EOTM ever did, – we lost the privacy of being able to make a valid and working “map call” – and there ends the real and valid WvW as we knew it before the crappy and loathsome Megaserver.

Can’t win them all. Can’t have empty maps either in pve or wvw.

I’m sure alliances and “population balance” and megaserver tech will help.

I don’t have faith in the devs in many areas and you can look at my post history for that, but I do have faith in the devs on this wvw stuff now that CU is becoming reality. I love game company competion, it kicks devs in the backside to get off their laurels lol… Doesn’t mean I’m not disappointed in their performance so far, though, but I believe better things will happen for wvw in fear of looking bad when CU is released…

Sorry but CU has if I’m not mistaking a monthly fee to play. That right there is the reason why I will not be moving to that game and I have no interest in it at all. Me personally, I would rather ride the sinking ship in this game till the end then fork over monthly fees in some other game that will likely just be over hyped and in the end it will be a letdown.

Ok. That’s your personal right, but I’m not talking about us as individuals, I’m talking about the big picture. If you understood the history behind the creators of CU, and what is coming in comparison to what is offered in our wvw, you’d get a different perspective on the whole thing. Also, having a monthly access fee or not, has zero to do with anything.

Competition produces results here, and it’s that very same competition that forces devs to make changes to GW2, not our begging and pleading and feedback.

Spoj, I completely disagree. Arena mechanics add uniqueness and variability to encounters. I’m not arguing that fights should only be like VG or Sab, but that we should have a healthy mix. Sab is my favorite fight because there’s so much going on at once and so much you have to be thinking about and prepared for, it’s constantly exciting and really feels like an “epic” fight against all of the bandits!

Belenwyn, I would argue that the two points you brought up actually already exist in the current raids. In the gors fight, if your group’s dps is too low, you will not phase him before he performs the second world eater attack, wiping your entire group. This happens about 1:30 into the fight. Plus, the timers are honestly mostly irrelevant currently. Groups can 5-man VG within the enrage timer and groups can 6-man gors within the enrage timer. Most likely, if your group is hitting the enrage timer it is due to improper mechanics execution or poor rotation execution. Having non-optimal builds doesn’t make the raid impossible but there is certainly a correlation between players using optimal builds and also executing rotations and mechanics well. The rewards are already basically on a timed system as well. If you beat the boss within the timer or shortly after it ends, you get to loot an extra chest. If you don’t, you get some magnetite shards which will give you the same rewards, just more slowly. There is no reason why everybody should be able to beat the bosses. That was always the intention with the design and is certainly working as intended.

Swagger, I agree that I believe raid participation stats probably started slightly high and have since dropped tremendously. However, I think that was predictable and intended by the developers. Raids are not supposed to be “the end game” of GW2 which offers you so many end game options besides the raids. And I bet you the devs and the players who have been clearing the raids every week now would come here and say the raids were a great success. Best content GW2 has ever made IMO.

“Dropped tremendously” does not equal “great success” sorry.

Raid is content for the ultimate prize, and “dropped tremendously” is a terrible sign.

If I were a game developer I would be embarrassed giving this raid and these bosses and these subpar professions and awful profession “roles” and not even giving a preview of the ultimate legendary treasures to my players.

Sounds like it will be a long and drawn out year for profession development.

More trait changes.

No fundamental weapon changes (looking at you sword, off hand axe, dagger, shortbow).

No meaningful pet changes in mind after 3 FULL years because they are STILL “exploring ways to improve”? Rangers will remain leashed by their gimmicky pets, not vice versa.

Druid/CA will end up being number tweaks (see trait “updates” over 3 years), not the necessary core changes to make this elite better. It will remain a subpar and mashed up and gated healer with aiming reticles design, that players still won’t know what it is supposed to be, and that will do nothing except promote the “super self healing and poor damage” bunker for years to come.

(I would have loved the super zerg and team healer as promised, but thanks at least for all the new self heals and thank goodness for elementalist staff/water/tempest to get that healing role urge satisfied… and it’s not even that great either, but way way better than Druid/CA)

long year. Lots of the same old. Little substance. More clunky healing. Pets on passive (because that’s the closest thing a player can do to get rid of them). LB,GS,Staff… “me me me” bunker… Load up another useful profession for that particular task… MORE waiting. MORE talk. More gimmicks coming to pass.

With wintersday commnig to an end..

No it wasn’t worth it. The main emphasis to wintersday were achievements, gold sinks, time sinks, grinding…

The event was not about fun. Players were tucked into the corner in December for this event, meanwhile in October the devs had record sales for HoT… Which = a lot of money… and in October, because of “play for free”, Anet doubled their monthly concurrent user base to 3,100,000 players…

Wintersday was not a thank you to the players for a great year or a thank you for all the support and money… nor an event designed around the premise of “celebration”… It was an event to save money period.

So devs, thank you for wintersday in the corner of DR and for poor rewards and lots of double clicking… while phat stacks of HoT cash from customers and yearly devotion from players went unthanked. Also, good way to run an event to show all those new 1,700,000 (I’ll check that number later but I’m close) monthly concurrent players how GW2 runs events and how much y’all really care about the playerbase.

Fractals - Lack of loot

So after the so-called “improved” loot in fractals, nothing has really changed. We get a bit more coin, that’s it.

I’ve been doing 3x 50+ fractals a day for the chest, and you know what I’ve gotten in the days since the “improvement” ? 1x Stabilizing Matrix each day, and 0, yes ZERO ascended chests/weapons!!!

Before HoT, I used to do lv50 daily. I didn’t get an ascended chest or weapon often, but I got enough in a month to have a 6/6 armor set on an alt (with reforging the stats in the MF ofc).

What I’m trying to say is, there’s a hugely noticeable difference in loot drops since the release of HoT. Not only have you completely nerfed the trash mobs loot, but the actual rewards as well. Given that dungeons are also no longer an effective income source, what does this leave us? Forced to participate in pre-organised time-gated events in the new zones? You’re taking away the choices people used to enjoy before HoT and forcing us to do specific things just to earn some coin! There’ll always be a grind element to the game, but when you take away the choices of WHAT you grind, then the game becomes tedious, dull, boring, just like it is now!

Thermanova fractal, ONLY the ice wolf mobs drop any loot. That’s like 2 mobs out of 15. So we waste time killing all these mobs, for what? Absolutely nothing! This was obviously removed to prevent people ‘farming’ mastery experience, but after you anounced that you wanted Fractals to actually be a suitable means to get said experience, you never changed these mobs back to granting exp/loot! You will happily allow people to farm CoF dungeon for exp, why nerf loot and exp on fractal trash too?

I think the loot on the 50+ daily chest needs a SERIOUS overhaul! If you’re going to give a useless Stabilizing Matrix as a reward, make it 10 or 25. If you’re going to give me an Ascended salvage kit, don’t be stingy and have only 1 use/charge on it, make it 25!! Honestly, the lower level loot is actually better, which is completely backwards!

Lastly, the Fractal Encryption boxes. At least the contents award some decent coin, but then the keys don’t drop! I’m getting 11-12 boxes a day, and no more than 4 keys! This means I’m wasting gold to BUY the keys I need, which therefor impacts how much I’m rewarded. It was a very ingenious way of almost improving the loot, but not quite enough.

The entire designs of loot and “rewards” and crafting and grind… game wide, is so players buy gems and convert to gold period. That is zero mystery and it’s been this way since launch.

I like the design of being able to buy my gold so I’m not complaining, I’m just telling you how it is.

There are 3 things why I never even considered trying the GW2 raid:

- the requirement to exclude badly skilled/equipped players to enable the team to succeed. With badly skilled I don’t mean players with the wrong traits/weapons equipped. Equipment can be bought. Instead, I mean players from which I know they are not able to withstand a difficult fight. This would exclude some guild members. It’s not possible to carry them. With other words, to not be forced to exclude them I will not even begin to try the raid.

- the timer. I don’t want to try and fail and try and fail for hours. I play the game to win, not to fail the whole evening except probably once (if were lucky).

- the mechanical fight. According to videos, the fight is so totally scripted, it doesn’t feel any natural. You are clicking and tapping keys according to the rhythm of a script someone else wrote, not fighting a deadly enemy. I don’t feel a challenge, I feel it’s just stupid – like I were drilled in the army to learn marching lock-step, and if you fail to march lock-step, you are immediately shot dead.

Also, everything raid is clearly a “on a budget” design, and professions and “roles” are a mess. This raid and profession recipe was a distaster from the get go, and this raid and profession plate is an awful tasting meal as a result…

Devs should get on those profession overhauls fast, and start revamping the raid now, or things will just end up like spvp and dungeons and fractals and wvw too…

Step 1- inclusive raid designs and difficulty sliders and legendary stuff.

Step 2- get the act in gear and overhaul professions big time (for the sake of the entire game). Like v2.0++ big time, no more games and neglect with the absolute most important aspect for players/customers. Our characters we play are #1 priority, so devs need to stop treating this area as a #10 and another “table” priority….

Gosh, how times have changed… Hard to imagine a time would come to pass where players are given a fraction of a raid, with bosses designed as “slow gates” only to stall players as much as possible and promises of ultimate legendary treasures are made… while the remaining 90% of “stuff” still needs to be coded in… Worst of all, professions and profession roles still need to be overhauled and developed and created… BUT to be fair, we have a raid room/path and gimmicky boss mechanics at very least right?

Devs… “Come do raids… So good… Lookie you can haz legendary armorz!!!”…

Devs… “We will kill zerker and make roles!!!”… Ok team, cheaply assign toughness as the default aggo generator… Throw in clunky to use and poorly thought out team healing powers and mechanics into the game (y’all should look at city of heroes on how “profession” design and power design and combat design mechanics should be done. Yeah, instanced/trial/raid content too)…

Most players in the first 2 weeks… “Umm this raid room is it? Umm ok”… “Umm so about those legendaries? Hmm not even a preview”… “I gave up my spot on the map in DS for this?”… “Well, this raid room is umm awful and boring and unrewarding and a lot of waiting and players dropping like flies out of teams”… “Umm dulfy… memorize each 15 second gimmicky boss mechanic on each boss?”… "Umm guise, I’m like out of laurels for trinkets, rings and stuff… because they are handed out to us like children, and what? I need to spend 800 gold crafting a new set of armor and weapons for each boss to fill some quasi “role” and attempt to squeeze that undefined by design “role” out of these neglected and underdeveloped professions?… Umm no thanks…"… “I spent hours building my character and invested a ton of gold.. and you’re telling me that jumping to a green circle, that randomly pops up 1200 units away while movement is suppressed, is the measure and make or break of success?… and it’s gliding and updrafts or fail?”…

Devs… “Hehe look at tears in bucket”…

Most players… “Lots of feedback”…

Devs… "Oh yeah, not ready or not on table, but more to come someday “soon” and mayyyyybe build saver"…

Player… “Raid 9.5”…

Honestly y’all, times have changed. It is sad to see that over the years we have been getting these graphically “pretty” games without substance… and not getting more fully coded and more comprehensive and more finished “features” from the very first uploaded patch by developers…

I’ll take any number of old and “ugly” games, that are filled with substance, over this “pretty” and hollow and puzzle pieced game design…

Sad to see how things have devolved in games, and how low expectations are now the norm… and accepted and even praised. I don’t fault some players, though, this “new gen” game thing is all they know because it is all they are given.

GW2 showed promise because of GW, but for all the cool new bells and whistles here, the trade off is an expiremental and “patch quilt” mess of a game. GW2 is very hollow and convoluted next to the old games that were built as a labor of love and love of gaming, where graphics were low but standards were high.

Sad.

WvW guild chat- "population balance"

If Green fills up first, boom overflow, while Blue and Red have the Outnumbered buff. For this to work correctly in WvWvW (3 sides is the key here), the system must be able to monitor population fluctuations on all 3 sides and keep them fairly close before even attempting to create an Overflow map.

There is so much that needs to be set and tested to ensure there is equality amongst all 3 sides. Megaserver does not do this atm. But it really doesn’t matter because at the end of the day what you ask for and what you get will be 2 totally different things because the Population was left out of the design.

I think this is what they are testing, or rather “working on.” They want to make sure that before another instance of the WvW map is opened, it can be sufficiently populated by all 3 sides so one side isn’t in the map running around completely unopposed. In PvE (and probably EotM) it doesn’t matter that if an instance is full and they open another instance, only five players are in that instance. If there’s an upcoming event, like Jormag or Teq, more people are on the way so those first 5 aren’t left to do the boss by themselves (like in the good ol’ days when you could brag you DID kill Jormag with 6 people and no one in LA would believe you. I have screen shots!). You can’t do this in WvW and keep things fair and balanced, so there would be a que until sufficient people from all three sides are queued up before another instance is opened to allow them in to fight each other.

Poor Swagger…. I feel for ya, bud. You can’t possible explain it more clearly, yet some people STILL don’t understand what you’re saying, when it’s as plain as the pixels on the page- er… screen. I think it might help to drop the term “megaserver” and instead say, “another instance of the map.” You and I know it’s the same thing, but it’ll make it easier for others to understand without them becoming confused.

Here lies the conundrum for this system.

How are they basing the teams/worlds?
How are they basing the scoring?
What are they using for a map cap?
If an Overflow is created, how does this affect the total score?
Can the players in the Overflow move to the main map once the Que is gone?
At what point will the system determine to close the Overflow and put the players in that instance back into a Que?

You see where I’m coming from about not having to be able to directly communicate with the design team and use “Real people” for testing?

I’m not sure how they test things but when I used to make maps for FPS games I used bots for finding flaws. Needless to say, you put a human in the equation, you will find even more.

Guess we will have to find out from Colin.
