The Dragoon Brotherhood
I think you pretty much nailed it.
Really nice vid, tho not much into wvw myself.
Ah the times whe firegrab could do 16k…
See arguments like these could also be why we don’t get fixed. If you make an ele build that is a good mix of all stats. The ele will be sub par at everything. If you make a warrior for example with a good mix of all stats he is good at everything.
That’s a problem with the warrior more than it is with the ele.
Let me put it in another way: if you have a weapon that deals both bleeding and power, you will only get optimal performance if you add both power and condition damage. The resulting build will be a build that doesn’t deal the best raw damage, nor the best bleeding damage, but the combination will be optimal. However, for the elementalist people are purposefully ignoring the fact that their weaponsets do a lot of different things, and then complain when they focus on a single thing. Unless you make use of all of your skills, you’ll fall short. But because players only want bunkers or damage dealers, nobody wants the ele. But the other side of the argument is that a balanced ele will deal more damage than full bunkers, and can take more hits than full glass cannons. For most people however, that seems to be unacceptable but for the small group that can work with that, the ele rocks.
As for the high dmg argument. In pvp…
That’s why I said PvE.
Almost all weapons we got that apply conditions, do so very sub-par and in a non-meaningful way. I do get your point, but here is a challenge for you – make me a balanced build as you would in spvp with the current provided amulets…
Some abilities we have are so sub-par it’s inexcusable (compare fire grab to any similar ability in terms of damage or in terms of cooldown for example). In the end even if we can do so many things, we have to use twice the effort and any similarly experienced opponent with another class will have the edge most of the time.
Not too sure about the earth shield as I haven’t used it much but it’s nice condition damage overall. I’d swap in a sigil of doom though for an extra condition and prevent enemies from healing too much.
With Eles a lot of builds should work on paper, but reality is a bit different so, it’s best to go out and test it out. And if you wanna push it, find a good necro to fight against to see how you can measure up.
There are a lot o things that should be un-nerfed for Eles to bring us back to the GODLY current meta…
You should also include a link if you want any feedback
Dual swords – there is no conjures so…
It’s per skill activated, not per hit.
Well it’s because we have twice the abilities with half the damage and usefulness and double the cooldown. Oh wait…
I actually like each of the above suggestions also, I’ld be happy with any of em. =) Changing the CDs on all the skills individually though is something I fear they will never do. =(
They reduced the damage on a lot of stuff since beta and changed RTL enough to prove you wrong, although I suppose it’s much easier for them to nerf us than buff us…
As difficult as it is for me to say this, I will wait for the patch and try out some builds and see how everything goes before making a rant about Ele.
I do agree with a lot of OPs points though not all.
As I understood it from the stream, they are still going to get lvl ups (and stay at 80 like in pve), until the levels correspond to the rank points. So it’s actually going to be a lot more than 10 chests an more like 50? 60?
Heya,
I have been playing Elementalist since beta of the game and have sifted through all other classes on occasion, but I can’t pick a secondary main class to run with duel swords.
I usually run s/tPvP so I am looking for something viable both as class and build.
The end goal is to get myself 2 sword legendaries, which is why I want to run a setup like this.
So can any community member help me ut ?
Who is the elementalist that used meteor shower on this guy ?
How dare you !
how dare you to use you only skill that does noticeable damage on a whole weapon set + build once every 30 sec while also channeling it for ~4 sec .
Go to your room ! You are not allowed to make your enemies use their brainz to do something to interrupt you , or get them out of their
kittencomfort zone ( decap builds) . you are not allowed to do damage. As a punishment , you will automatically get dishonorable when you use Meteor Shower!
//
This is just the beginning guys . On 15th April this forum will be flooded with thieves /others complaining and whining about stone heart . i bet they will find something to complain about Aquatic Benevolence too =))
giggle inside
Wow can you imagine if they had un-nerfed the beta damage for Ele in this patch as well…
I find it rediculous. It affects everything on the ele and almost nothing on the thief. Attunement recharge rate should not be affected, unless Anet wishes to change it to affect every professions weapon swap CD.
That, and it needs to affect thieves and their initiative accumulation.

Hm, and I thought that our long and unwarranted cooldowns and having to use 3 times the abilities to be as effective as other classes was our special mechanic…
They could always make it so weaker classes statwise get more stats through their trait points. The end total could still be less, however this will bring more flexibility in those classes and Eles and Thieves for example will have more of a reason to spec into some (currently) unfavorable traits.
Auras would be fine if they reversed the 1s stupid nerf. I don’t see other classes have to deal with this (might on block etc.)
I don’t have an issue with this, but why don’t they force the race to become like human in SPVP as soon as you are in the mists or in a map?
Or if an Asura joins the map, make everyone else same height
I can confirm this as well.
So non ele/engi’s get up to four sigils? You are forgetting the part where ele’s and engis get 4 weapon sets whereas everyone else only get’s 2.
And you Forget that Eles pay the price by having enormous cooldowns on everything because of this and are as good as forced to attune-dance to kitten abilities. I am not even going to explain the Engi…
You can’t have the cake and eat it too. Some dev response to this would be nice.
I would request only one real change – half all cooldowns on all weapons.
This will bring out so much more diversity in play/rotations and bring us in line. As QoL give us some more utility to our skills (like mesmers have) for example – Updraft a stunbreaker
I have a great idea!
How about we move it to adept and have it give us regen as well whenever we are hit by immobilize, chill, or cripple!Or do any warriors here think that would be a bit overpowered?
As a person ho likes to try warrior from time to time, I can’t believe I missed this… I feel so kitten now…
I think if this was adjusted to do what you’d think it should do, we would be one step closer to what Ele should be all about.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Talk:Lingering_Elements
Also reduced cooldowns on everything would fix a lot.

It’s difficult to find dedicated players these days, but we do not give up hope!
If you feel like you can dedicate yourself to one guild like in the good olden days, feel free to apply and join the family!
Warrior race? Saiyan is the only choice here!
IMO fire attunement should let me cast water spells, so this needs fixing.
Or maybe without this trait we can only use one attunement now and can only swap out of combat… foreshadowing for the next nerf…
Actually it’s been stated before that it’s working as intended. Stunbreakers are STUNbreakers. Want to avoid all CC – get stability…
Best base starting stats would be warrior, so warrior…
I fail to see who thought 10% is a GM trait.
This is how a GM trait should look like:
15% of your toughness is converted to Cond. Damage
20% of your toughness is converted to Vitality
I disagree. Vitality is not a solution when classes do not have the same HP pool, while being so similar in other aspects.
This will be a solution if everyone has base HP of 16k (considering current meta maybe even 20k)
It’s “one owner per account, forever.” No sales, trades, pass-alongs, give-aways, use as a prize, recycling… Once the original owner is done, the account will remain accessible to that person but cannot be supported for anyone else.
Sharing or passing-along game accounts is strictly forbidden by the User Agreement.
Excuse for the offtopic but, are you aware that that doesn’t apply for games sold in Europe? As Oracle and Steam already know, reselling used software is allowed
I want to add to that -
realistically, how can you actually police and enforce such a policy? To me it seems impossible.
The policy is fine and I completely agree with the reasons for it, just curious.
MMO’s aren’t new to piracy, phishing, hacking, and trading. They have tools to see and detect certain things like IP changes, location changes, and much much more to deal with security breeches. Many are setup to remove RMT and exploiters etc, many many internal programs that allow them to monitor and pursue issues with their program. Once found, they will lock the account and notify the original owner. They will then have to dispute the charge in order to retain their copy unless they broke the TOS or UA to the point where a ban was necessary. No system is perfect, and even mistakes can happen. But in 2013 cybersecurity is probably the most advancing type of security on the planet. With corporate security breeches, government breeches on the rise it is imperative that every company maintain a certain standard which keeps raising every year. For every hacker there is a person writing a code to stop them and vice versa. It is a never winning battle which is costly to both parties. So rest assured they have the means to identify such breeches, to deny access to those accounts, and through the legal agreement prosecute if the severity seems fit.
I am actually not sure IPs are used for this specific purpose. I HAVE to use a VPN when logging in on forums through work (we have to use a remote system, so it’s the only way), so on ANET side it looks like at 4 pm my time, I log in on a UK IP, and then 5 pm when I get home, I log in on a Bulgarian IP.
This is why it kinda seems impossible for me for ANET to know whether I gave my account to a friend or not. Not that I even HAVE any friends to give it to

I am aware but a lot of posts in that thread are bias and more or less people whining about other classes being op, or about classes should be higher because they fought 1 person, lacks some view on a whole because of the bias posts.
Your opinion is biased too, no?
spent 2 days watching people fight, unless they were acting or planning on taking a fall this is based off random sampling without opinions of one class vs another
For a proper random sampling you would need at LEAST 10 000 duels of each class VS each OTHER class.
This thread serves no purpose as there is one already discussing all player opinions, as previously stated.
Because it’s so hard to beat a warrior without them having amulet, utilities and healing skill…
What you are asking is probably not feasible in such a late stage beta of the game.
These are the cases that make me wish this game had CC immunity like most other MMOs (if you get feared for instance and you don’t cleanse it yourself, you’ll be immune to fear for x amount of time after the first one finishes duration)
CC immunity was a terrible mechanic in those MMOs and always has been.
Think about it. CC is the necromancers greatest weakness. You start putting CC on immunity timers and necromancers become that much stronger. Besides, CC in those other MMOs lasted a heck of a lot longer. 10 seconds or so on some of the CC. The most you will ever be CCed by one ability in this game is 3 seconds. Most will only CC you for a second or two. Not to mention that every class has a million and one ways to break out of CC. Stun breakers are every where. Stop loading your utility bar with DPS crap. Its not always about doing maximum damage.
You presume too much about what I put on my utility bar. The current state of the game actually forces people to put more than one stunbreaker/cond removal in order to be competitive. Where is the diversity in that, especially considering some are a MUST HAVE for certain classes?
Yes CCs here are shorter, but with such a dynamic game where 1 second can mean dead or not a long CC chain from 3 necros (just as an example) brings nothing fun or competitive. There is no thought process of when someone should use their CC by risking of wasting it, because CC is so much more available than defensive abilities for most classes.
(I am not trying to bash necros in any way, heck I have one. I am bashing all CC in general and how poorly they are balanced in this game from class to class and in general)
These are the cases that make me wish this game had CC immunity like most other MMOs (if you get feared for instance and you don’t cleanse it yourself, you’ll be immune to fear for x amount of time after the first one finishes duration)
Blind is finally a proper condition like all others. Before it was just redundant. And no, it’s not as strong as Aegis, since most blinds are applied to a single target.
I understand what the OP is saying, but there is an even ground as it is. Your suggestion will slow down and dumb down the gameplay. I am no fan of thieves and mesmers with teleports, but that’s their speciality and also really cool to see when used correctly. The same goes for the other movement abilities. The only thing I can agree on is to remove the passives and maybe have swiftness down to 25% to bring down the game a notch for newer players.
Just wanted to let you know that the stunbreak glyph is instant, so double bonus for the people already using it.
GoeP is never used for the stun break. The ability should be used pretty much on cool down and thus the stun break goes wasted.
Yeah, but at least now people dont have to waste 1.5 seconds to cast it midfight
I don’t think the changes listed will change much:
- 20+ arcane is still required for playability
- 15+ water is still required for survivability
- glyphs still suck (cast too slow, elemental is weak)
- conjures still suck (terrible, just terrible)
- EA is still a fair bit better than any of the GM traits
- staff still has 19/20 AOE skills
- sceptre still laden with crappy skills: DT, SS, fire #1, water #1
I can see S/D and signets being a little better, but survivability will be an issue.
Re-distributing the stun breakers is good and overdue, but the glyph ought to be instant or it’s useless. Also, GoEH is typically cast before an encounter not during.
More than anything, I would’ve expected to see trait changes that reduced the dependence of Ele on attunement CD reduction from arcane and dependence on 15+ water for sustain and condition removal, eg: Earth 30 = reset fire and earth attunements on using a signet, Air 30 = reset air and water attunements on using a glyph.
Just wanted to let you know that the stunbreak glyph is instant, so double bonus for the people already using it.
Well, the Water 1 skill travels back to you , so for an ANet I guess it’s only logical to apply the GoEP conditions to you as well when it ‘hits’ you on its way back.
You guys really thought you’d get a buffed elementalist skill for free? It always comes at a cost.
Next up – if you use GoEP while not stunned, it stuns you for 3 seconds!
This needs to be fixed tho, srsly.
I think with the faster casting time they had to reduce the base damage a bit.
Because staff has such OP damage it needs reducing…
Next up – Elite Glyph of Elementals will now break stun!
Stay tuned for the next episode of Elementalist Adventures!
I suppose now I will run with the shield then sigh…
Cleansing Fire oesn’t break stun in sPvP for me. Probably PvE was left as is or bugged??
I bet 1 gold that from the OPs post all blind abilities on Elementalists (negligible) will get nerfed, maybe together with the necro ones, while all else will be left the same…
It should even be improved to have next 2 attacks miss.
Last I checked, Eles have two invulnerability skills, extremely high protection uptime, frequent condition cleanses, and frequent healing, none of which got removed in this patch. All that happened to the popular D/D build was that it lost some stunbreakers.
I am talking about previous patches.
Here is a pic of a mediocre Guardian with all of the above, but higher base stats in almost every regard.
I feel 10% is a joke for a grandmaster trait…
