judging from the name this sounds like a PU clone death build, but with no working link i can’t say.
Far as i remember Blackwater was a proto Condition PU build.

standard CD on interrupts (non PowerBlock) is 5 seconds, are you saying they go on a 6 second CD? easiest way to tell is if you turn on CD timers in your UI.
I’ll go attempt to test this tonight.

No staff cd reduction..
Might work on noobs but I wouldn’t run a build with that trinket or trait set up

Full assassins + vuln and Might i can easily get past 2k crits in sPvP with MoP
if i remember my biggest shot was nearly 3k on a glass thief and he rage quit shortly after the second spike from it downed him.

I can’t be bothered to read all 8 pages of this before i go to work So i’ll throw out something and hope it hasn’t been previously stated in its entirety and also that it wont just be lost in the flood..
Guild Halls: Where to place them.
Lovely as it would be to have them in cities or out in the Open world, It doesn’t seem feasible to me, it requires a lot of rework on existing maps to create new structures that will most likely have to worked around until the game servers close their doors. Just not cost effective enough for the Devs I wouldn’t think.
Gw1 had their Guild Halls out on the Battle Isles which we lack in Gw2
What we don’t lack is access to the Mists, specifically Fractals in the mists. The mists is an open ended thing with presumably limitless space and theres already asura gates that lead to it. It’s less effort to add in a static Guild hall map that holds 0 interaction with other maps in the long run vs changing a part of Lions arch which will need to interact with every festival or LS related update that takes place in or partly in LA as well as any NPC’s movement tracks + players movement paths etc….
Guild Halls and the Open World:
While I cannot really hold an opinion on what and how halls should look and sit and shine, I do have a suggestion to their further Purpose for the Rest of Gw2, beyond being a thing your guild sits inside of.
If anyone recalls the old Rep system to control Towns in Cantha (Gw1) Should something similar make its way to Gw2?
I’m not suggesting control over towns per say, or even outposts, but rather Maps themselves.
Competitive Map control for guild halls. Controlling guilds could apply bonuses to said maps for X amounts of time such as Higher rare item drop rates, or Map now drops a special mini that can only be found in that map when this bonus is active…
For a better example the Dry Top Sand Storm “meta” event could be applied to someplace like Southsun Cove where in the Lion Guard march across the map (basic replay from the Original Release of Southsun) Every lets say.. 3 hours for 1 day. During this time special events take place and special past items (southsun treasure chests and minis) will drop (uncommonly at best). When the event is over your account receives a reward for the Week or day (much like current Guild Challanges) even if you are not in the guild which owns the map. You can redo the event again for the rare drops but will receive no large reward for the rest of the day/week.
idk.. But give guilds some form of interaction with the Mass player base is what I’d ask for the most here. Guild halls are lovely but they’ll still feel pretty empty at the end of the month when Flags on Keeps in WvW is the only mark your guild can make on the world.
Inherent Problems with tieing guilds to map rewards:
People, people are always their own worst problems. troll guilds could potentially overtake unwanted or low ranking maps and refuse to apply bonuses unless they are paid off.
Dieing guilds if the system takes too long to cycle out dead or dieing guilds then its easy to end up with dead maps and disheartened players.
Crappy bonus/reward systems. If the rewards aren’t compelling (and i don’t just mean tied behind horrendous RNG walls so its super rare and expensive because its rare) Then players wont be inclined to go to some or Any map they aren’t already on/farming. If the players aren’t inclined to visit then why should the guild in charge be inclined to care about the area. Lack Luster reward systems with only a few maps being prized would cause a lot of grief for the community and guilds all attempting to gain control over those few maps.
In short
Guild halls go in the Mists.
Maybe try to tie guild halls and some competitive scene to Control of Open world map bonuses.
Don’t screw up said map bonuses by making them too good or pointless or a combination of the two.
“Gw2, It’s still on the Table!” – Anet
The charges remain until used or a game mode swap takes place or until that person logs off btw..
Counters to Mantras are pretty basic.
They’re not unblockable so if you have long standing blocks i’d save those towards the end of a fight.
You can dodge them
The AoE is fairly sizable so avoid balling up with others.
Mantra of Pain has a 1s recharge rate between its uses no matter what, so after the first shot with it a lot of mesmers will fire it off again, specially if it missed.
If stun locked or otherwise CC’d a good mesmer with any charges on their bar will abuse them to take shots at you even if you are behind them.
Both offensive mantras require Line of Sight to work.
Once used as mentioned above, the Mesmer needs to spend about 3s of uninterrupted channeling time to get it recharged, they cannot dodge or use the majority of their skills during that time either. Once used a Mantra is kind of self defeating if there are no pauses in the fight for it to get set back up.
My recommendation is typically, just try to either bunker/dodge toward the end of a fight when MoP is popular to use or try to control the fight so they either save it till its too late or wiff with it early on.
“Gw2, It’s still on the Table!” – Anet
If you avoid staff then I’d agree with what was said above mostly.
However I think staff offers more control and can be used very offensively and still works in a hybrid build.. so far as hybrid builds can work. It just takes a bit of a different mindset to use staff as an offensive rather than purely defensive..
For example if you use a mainhand sword to iMob on swap, you can swap to staff dodge and phase retreat at the same time to get 3 clones basically stacked on your immobile target for a shatter.
“Gw2, It’s still on the Table!” – Anet
Condition Interrupt would focus on a Staff and maybe a Scepter/Focus or Pistol.
Main idea is similar to Condition Shatter where you will attempt to tank damage while clones and phantasms deal condition stacks.
Interrupts are held to abuse heals and condition cleansing or the like mostly.
at least when i tried it, that’s what worked best for me.
“Gw2, It’s still on the Table!” – Anet
Counters to getting stun locked… hmmm..
how do you counter a warrior cc chain?
use the same things..
Stability – easy access on relatively low CD’s for the majority of the classes out there
Use a stun breaker! every class has them, everyone should bring at least 1 to sPvP in any build ever…
Dodge, a miss means no cc or dmg.
about the Mesmer lock up chain, its not terribly complicated but it requires a lot of luck to pull off and stupid targets to get hung up to die to it.
At most the Mesmer will have only 2 guaranteed stuns at one time. and maybe 3 dazes, 2 guaranteed. they will also have with the CS trait a 50% chance to change those dazes into a stun. If they bring a staff then they might have 1 to 3 more dazes if you stand in chaos storm and RNG bones you.
all of these dazes and stuns are on larger CD’s than most stun breakers condition cleanses and heals and stability sources on other classes.
at most the longest an average Mesmer can lock up a single target in sPvP is about 6 seconds, at least 1 to 2 seconds of which will be an immobilize (you can use skills while immobilized) after which they will be completely dead in the water as all CC and burst skills will be on a heavy CD.
Mesmer misses 1 skill in the very long rotation of bursts?
You come out with more health and a very good chance at winning the fight.
Complain some more about how you cant ezmode a better player….

last i checked portal doesn’t apply the blind until its full used (exit and entrance) and even then it often doesn’t apply at all…
when it does apply its a tiny duration and at that range, when facing anything with ranged attacks, its probably not about to cause a crucial non spam able attack to miss..
it’s also only 1 stack of confusion..
i don’t see the point in it except for maybe getting to tag 2 or 3 potentially really stupid players.
“Gw2, It’s still on the Table!” – Anet
Let’s see. Something positive to offset Pyro’s negativity….
We got new traits (which they promptly “fixed” one of them).
They removed Raid on the Capricorn map from pvp (which I think was a bad call, but I guess the majority didn’t like learning how to play underwater).
They removed the pvp locker and added a wardrobe, for those aesthetically inclined.
I still play my mesmer, same as always. I adapt to however they fix/break/cripple the class and play around that. It would be nice if they would actually take time to consider what the kitten they are going to do before they do it, but that requires more thought process than I guess some people like to use. I encounter this in my own work place. That aside…
Other classes got buffed. Ranger got buffed (see all the threads of QQ about that here on the mesmer forum too). Longbow #2 [Rapid Fire] is ridiculously fast now. So you can expect to see a bunch of underskilled power rangers spamming their #2 as often as it is not on cooldown. (Hence the biggest outcry for original Mimic from the mesmer community.)
I play for people anymore. =) Join OMFG. Maybe we can get Pyro to stick around a little longer than a couple days.
Except you didn’t really say anything to counter Pyro’s negativity aside from, "
We got new traits (which they promptly “fixed” one of them)." Doesn’t make me want to play a Mesmer again.
No one wants to play Mesmer, the Mesmer players are being played by the Mesmer itself… they have no choice..

___________
I ran a different thread through the meat grinder of the forums last week and also did some asking around in the client itself on various maps at various times. I asked several questions such as “what is your #1 thing you want for the future Feature Patch?” Would you rather get new maps or new cosmetics/skills? Would you rather have a bug free Profession or new maps/skills/etc…?
What I’ve found is that….
Players are more inclined to Overlook bugs or become frustrated with quality gaps when they are given more options to play with.
If Gw2 had 3 maps and 2 of them were Bugged beyond belief, Players would be less satisfied than if Gw2 had 4 Maps and 2 of them were in the same bugged state as before. Players would have more options to work around these bugs.
If Gw2 only gave you 10 traits and 3 did not work, players would cry foul but if players were given 20 traits and 3 did not work there would be most likely be less focus on it and less grumpy posts on the forums. People could work around those traits and still get enjoyment from the game.
Not really that surprising I know, you can see it reflected here upon the forums as well. When no new content is being added then players dip towards bug reporting and asking/demanding fixes. When new content is given in tiny chunks, players lean towards asking or wishing anet would give them much more and faster.
But why do players really want more and faster? Because players want OPTIONS above all else. Currently LS release rate does not really place that many options at the players feet and feature patches haven’t done as much of that as they seem to be demanded to.
Why was the April feature patch so well received even tho it contained not much short of a UI overhaul and a new system?
Customization
or rather, the illusion of customization. The April patch gave players access to the Wardrobe that allowed them to see all the skins they had unlocked or needed to unlock. In all honesty this did not give players more options for customization but helped many to realize the amount of different skins and looks they could achieve and use. By re purposing existing content and presenting it in a much easier to access and use way, Anet won back a lot of favor.
So players like Options but what options are they the most hungry for?
Using rough totals:
When asked what their Number 1 most wanted thing was it was fairly even between Bug fixes, Content (new maps, new dungeons, hard mode, etc..), and Customization (skins, skills, new weapons, new classes, new traits, new progression systems, etc..)
Customization seemed to bump out the other two but really only just slightly, Content coming in second place and bug fixes last (not really a surprise)
When asked between Bug fixes or Content/Customization it was always a land slide victory for Content or Customization.
But when asked Content or Customization..
There seems to be a majority winner, it’s not a giant gap but its still somewhat clear.
So, to conclude, As of this time…
A larger majority of Players would Prefer that Anet add more options for Character and Play customization!
This ranges from Skins (preferably not gem store bound or related) Skills, New traits, New progression systems (sub classes), to Mounts or First person camera modes. I would even go so far as to add Player Housing, Guild Halls and the like to this category.
So, Gw2 Forum community, can we sit down and come up with What our top wants under Customization are?
For the second half of this thread, it’s up to you guys to do exactly that.
In order, what are the 3 things you most want to see Anet focus on bringing to the game in the form of Character customization?
“Gw2, It’s still on the Table!” – Anet
Don’t know if you noticed but almost all the professions have stopped asking a net for big things like this. Most of us have resigned to the fact that the devs who designed the classes are either long since gone or stuck on other projects leaving only incompetent or lost devs to attempt to pick up the pieces.
Look at the Mesmer nerf and bug pile that’s actually expanded over time. Notice a net screwed us over with no compensation just to try and fix culling in wvw…
This is why we kinda stopped asking for nice things.
“Gw2, It’s still on the Table!” – Anet
Current builds tend to be
PU : x/4/6/x/x usually leans towards conditions
Shatter : 4/4/0/0/6 or 0/4/4/0/6 latter leans towards tanking or “Condition shatter”
Phantasm : i forget this one, i never run it i hate relying on the AI..
Lock Down : x/x/6/x/x Pick CI instead of PU and check forums for various builds and tips on how to play this.
DPS : 6/4/x/x/x Grab Empowering mantras and slot in 4 mantras, mostly used for dungeons or PvE
That’s about it, you can still goof off with various other builds but those are about it each with its various places and levels of success and usefulness. The first Two are the most viable in sPvP and WvW roaming, PU more so for WvW.
Pryo tends to use colorful language to drive the point home, it’s not That bad but things for mesmer haven’t exactly… “improved” … for a long time.

Any other submissions?
“Gw2, It’s still on the Table!” – Anet
Anyway, as others have pointed out already, the point of this thread was to name one feature that you’d like to see. Which is a pretty open-ended question, making it that much more likely that people are going to ask for a wide variety of things. If the question was more focused (e.g. something like “what feature would you like to see changed/improved”) then it’s likely we would see a more immediately common set of responses.
The way questions are worded has a greater affect on what answers are given than some people realize.
Kudos, the question is indeed purposefully very open. I’ll explain that later tho
“Gw2, It’s still on the Table!” – Anet
I wouldn’t mind the Copies for X amount of time, but to really make it a keystone to make up for some holes in the Mesmer class it would need to be doing a bit more than boons.
Same CD
Duration 10s or 15s or whatever..
You copy all boons and their durations, all auras and their durations, all Stances and their durations, all effects (stealth included) and their durations on target foe.
That Stealth spam thief suddenly finds that It and the Mesmer both keep popping in and out of Stealth at the same times, it cant land a blow on what it cant find.
That Warrior who got into trouble and burns Endure Pain or whatever to try and put pressure back on the Mesmer? Whelp, now its a stale mate till it wears off.
Ele spamming auras to stack might while trying to avoid getting hit with conditions and apply them through said auras? now its an even playing field and each hit from either side is at much higher stakes.
Now its a game changing utility in more than a Single and very rare situation, hell it might even make some impact on the meta.
“Mesmers so OP, they can mimic the OP aspects of my class, pls nerf”
I would avoid copying weapons and skills used etc.. that ends up being a lot of coding for Anet (they barley have enough resources to fix bugs remember?) and a lot of memorizing to do for any Mesmer that brings the skill to any game mode.
This rendition of it would be extremely underwhelming in PvE still, but even the original Mimic only had a few niche uses in Soloing dungeon paths…
Edit: Afterthought, I just imagined mimicking a Necros Death Shroud, omg the lulz that would be had..
“Gw2, It’s still on the Table!” – Anet
I’ll throw in my own vote before I leave for bed.
I would like Sub Classes to be the Next Feature Patch.
More so, the addition of Classes inside of the current classes to generate more depth to builds and play style options.
“Gw2, It’s still on the Table!” – Anet
It’s a bit sad to see this thread almost draw lines between different players and what type of personality and mentality they each carry.
Some of you may want to reconsider that an abundance of Passion does not equate to how correct you are, nor does it make your side of the argument more compelling.
Yes context can be very important but it’s not the end all be all.
If someone is tired of game A or has outgrown game A and moves to Game B. They Might find that they really enjoy game B.
But after some time, Game B is missing something too, and it may seem to be a bit of Game A that the player is so used to and began with.
So the player wishes and thinks about how Game B would be if it had some of that stuff from Game A.
The Dev’s may or may not add those things, if they do, then the Player gets to experience that but inevitably the Player will always move on.. But in the future the Player has a more clear idea of what they want out of a game. (this goes for ALL of you)
If the Dev’s add none of the things, but add a new thing that the Player finds to be a suitable replacement to a Lack of game A type traditions, the player gets to experience this but still inevitably moves on later down the road.
If the Dev’s add Nothing from Game A nor Nothing compelling to intuitively fill those perceived “Gaps” then the Player will either continue to attempt to point out Ideas from Game A or quietly submit and search actively for a Game C, or Quit the game all together.
Gw2 is at the 2 year mark, and if often feels that More and More players have fallen into the last Scenario and then into the final two options. Players who fall into the First Two scenario’s shouldn’t see themselves as having the Right to protest further changes nor seek to silence and derail those remaining players in ANY of the 3 columns.
Maybe Gw2 would massively improve and become the greatest game of all time if Anet reintroduced the Holy Trinity, you can’t be sure until you Play that game and nay saying before hand is similar to saying that Ice Cream is Disgusting and Horrible before you even see it outside of its cardboard container.
Let people talk, there’s never been a good reason to silence them or attempt to silence them.
You don’t have to listen to them.
You can even go try to educate them if you want.
but in any context, what amounts to almost always saying, at its core, This is a Game you Shouldn’t Play (Because I like it how it is right now and Your ideas some how threaten my enjoyment of this current moment but I some how forgot or ignore the fact that Anet reserves the right to overhaul any and all systems contained in this game at any time on any day for any reason they see fit and my opinion will matter as much about it when it changes Then as it does right NOW)
Done posting here~ GL HF

I know that when it comes to the forums we’re not shot on wants or demands, but more often than not when Anet asks everyone “Do you want to pick what we talk about or let us pick the subject?” its almost an unanimous “You guys pick!”
So, I as a fellow Player want to ask all of you, not what you want for the next CDI but instead. If you all had to select and vote for just 1 thing to appear in the Next “Feature” patch, What would it be?
Consider this more for fun But I’ll actually be taking votes and tallying everything up, maybe even start a second round if there is no clear winner!
Remember, 1. not 2, just 1. 3 is also out, only pick 1 thing. the ONE thing you want the MOST.
…
again, only 1, One, Uno, Un, etc.. etc.. …. ONE
But feel free to explain why and discuss it at the same time
Update – 26-Sep – 2014
I left this question a bit open ended on purpose, mostly because I was not looking for a Tally on individual Ideas but rather to sort your wishes into more general catagories.
Content : Dungeons, Maps, Jumping Puzzles, etc.. things to explore.
Quality : Bug Fixes, System Redo’s (un-redo’s), System/Back end improvements.
Customization : Skins, Skills, Weapons, etc.. things that add options and depth to character creation and play.
Those who voted for multiple things, I picked only the first thing that you posted as I will assume that’s the one thing you sprang to first and would appreciate the most.
Those that posted for Expansion had to be double counted under Content and Customization, expansions do not guarantee bug fixes or core system revamping so no tally was added to Quality.

Mesmer Minus the Illusions.
Just for fun, re imagine all Mesmer skills that are related to clones or Phantasms to variants that contain neither (but do the same basic things). Use Hexes or marks or whatever ya want.
Just try to have fun with it.
Examples:
Phase Retreat – Teleport away from your target, cause momentary confusion as your foe’s attack only strikes the air where you just were. (Confusion 2s to nearby foes)
Illusionary Leap – Leap at your target with great speed! Cripple them with a sword to the knee. (cripple for remainder of toons life)
Swap – End your leap and return to your original position, laugh as your opponent wets them self and flinches like a kitten. (Must be used before iLeap connects with foe, forces laugh emote, Daze 3s)
Edit: Bonus round!
After a few beers.. and unrelated to clone spells..
Mantra of Pain – Cause your foe to experience one of the mesmer classes Crippling or annoying Bugs! (May cause your foe to be teleported under the floor, also works in PvE! Troll your whole dungeon group and bug out the boss monsters!)
well.. i thought it was funny..

condition spam or hang out till someone on your team shows up to make it a 2v1.
Or leave the node and go find something else to fight/cap.
Engies spam boons and CC like rappers spam girls in Music videos, you cant rip boons fast enough and its very hard to just burst them down with so many turrets and aoe + the short duration triple healing they can pull off… (healing turret + use healing turret active + blow it up for aoe regen + press F1 again for another heal after turret is gone)
all of that is on i think a 15s CD…

Someone disappointed in the direction of the games development also has a right to voice their concerns. If someone is upset enough to go out of the game and find the forums and take the time to write up a post or make a thread, it means that, even if the thread is a terrible and hateful rant, they cared enough about the game to come voice it.
Just because someone doesn’t agree with direction doesn’t mean they are a kitten to your “society” of happy to swallow players. A lot of good ideas and great things come from people who went against the grain, how do you think you ended up with a Computer, Graphics cards, Games, that classy LEd screen or even the electricity to make it all work?
Beyond simple trollish behavior or outlandish rage, every thread and topic should be approached in a critical manner if you want any type of Civil or Meaningful discussion to take place and move the ideas forward. before throwing generalizations and making assumptions after reading only half a post maybe sit on your reply for 20 minutes before you post it and think the whole thing through.
If none of the above sounds like something you can manage then perhaps this thing called Social Interaction is not for you.
(Still sounds stupid doesn’t it?)
Except there are people so out of touch with what the game is and wants to be that they’re disappointed for no reason.
A lot of people cried and moaned on the forum that this isn’t WoW 2.0.
A lot of people want a hard trinity.I can understand meaningful discussion on improving – but why change something entirely when those wishing a change could simply find that completely different thing they need somewhere else and leave those who enjoy this one in peace.
People that fall under this boat are often already on their way out and many of them don’t even make it to the forums to post about it.
Someone asking for this game to be turned into WoW 2 can easily be told several reasons why that will probably never happen and they can make up their mind to stay or leave all on their own.
Personally i think the retention of a Holy Trinity would have done a lot to improve the depth of combat in Gw2 and I can, provided the allowance to change other aspects of the game, without utterly changing its very core values, provide a pretty kitten good argument as to why and how that would be.
Sadly, it’s the devs who have a final say on anything Game changing so i’m not sure as to your final question here. They can decide to make Gw2 into WoW 2 if they want and if they think its the best choice, it may or may not be based on the community feedback.
But, this thread is about telling someone that a Game is not for them, which no one really has a right to do, not even the devs. It’s an individual choice and conclusion that have to be chosen. If this were anything but a childish and rude attempt to silence and remove a part of a conversation then I think you’d find the Dev’s themselves answering 90% of the threads on the forums with it in almost a Meme format to it.
“This Lore is not for you”
“This Patch is not for you”
“This LS instance is not for you”
“This X is not for Y”
To probably Misquote someone whose name I don’t remember.
You have the right to free and unimpeded speech to express your thoughts and feelings. I too, have the right to not listen and or not care.
If someone complains in Map chat that they want Mounts and how awesome Gw2 would be with it and you’re tired of hearing about it, then block them, or just turn off chat, or just don’t waste energy and time replying and move on with your life… It’s really not that difficult to not tell someone to Quit the Game because you’re not in the mood for them at this moment…
“Gw2, It’s still on the Table!” – Anet
Honestly, GW2 is the cheapest MMO to play so, I don’t really see the issue of fracturing the player base since, for over 2 years all anyone had to do to play all the content was buy the box once. An expansion likely wouldn’t be released for yet another year so… that $60 got players 3 years of having the current content. I don’t see an issue with adding a $40 expansion, and I believe it would have a greater impact on motivation for people to play and for former players to return. Plus, some of the changes to the expac would likely also be included as patch download for the original game.
What should be in an expac of GW2? My wish list:
- 2 new weaponsets per class (doesn’t need to be entirely new weapons like a halberd or 2-hand axe… but take the existing weapons and give other classes new skills with them like an Engineer with a Hammer for instance)
- 4-6 new zones
- Bring back the Heart quests for the new zones. I know they get alot of flack, but I actually enjoy doing them on my alts
- 2 new open world raid bosses to start with (more as time progresses). Maybe allow guilds to open a personal overflow of the fight so they can get their guild in there first, and then bring in non-guildies to fill out the ranks
- 2 new dungeons with 3 wings each
- 2 new fractals
- Re-vamped WvW system that combines two servers on one team based on active wvw server participation. The WvW maps would have to either be increased in number, or increased in size/objectives to deal with the influx of players per match. This would allow the really low pop servers to be joined with Tier 1 servers like BG, JQ and TC. The middle servers like Yak’s Bend would be paired up with another mid-level server in the hopes of evening out the playing field.
- add 2 new battlegrounds that are NOT conquest (ie: A Capture the Flag battleground). Also consider making those battlegrounds optimal with larger numbers of players (ie: 10v10, 15v15)
- Revamp hotjoin sPvP to allow partied players to queue in together. Take Courtyard out behind the paywall (freaking horrible decision to do this in the first place)
- Increase level cap by 10 levels (I’m on the fence about this… though, I am still conditioned to enjoy level based progression)
- Increase the ways in which players can obtain ascended gear. As of now, crafting should not be the only truly viable option to get ascended weapons and armor. You should be able to get, at the very least, tokens from fighting Teq or Wurm or high level fractals to then save and spend on ascended weapons and armor
gonna pull your post here as it’s a good example.
I think if we take a cutter and chop up your wish list we can still come up with an expansion that has aspects that are free and some that would feel worth a payment.
Things sPvP and WvW related should remain free imo.
So thats the new skills/weapons/maps there.
PvE could use an incentive and Fractals is already in the core experiance, so lets make those additions free as well
Now, if it were me, I would place 2 or 3 of the PvE maps as free allowing for 1 of the dungeons to be played by anyone (but in story mode only maybe?) while keeping the others behind the pay wall.
World bosses could also be Split or kept in the Paid only maps depending on player count required.
What if the Hearts were also only available to those who paid? They don’t offer much beyond unique recipes or maybe a skin set or something.
the level cap and other suggestions I’m not going to really comment on, it’s not a discussion the thread needs to hold.
So to break it down.
All players Recieve – some new maps, a new dungeon, maybe a raid boss, new skills and weapons (at least in sPvP) and basic QoL improvements.
Paying Players gain – A few more maps, a second dungeon, a unique raid boss, new skills and weapons guaranteed in all game modes, Access to new Karma armor sets and recipes and items (skins and food etc…)
Anyone got better ideas or thoughts on that?

I think you missed the actual questions and just opted to declare its a bad idea all around… Not what this thread is about, but thank you for the input

Many people seem to be crying out for an expansion to Gw2, beyond what LS seems to offer, and It’s not entirely unjust.
However as a thought experiment, most of you not being designers yourselves, What is the best way to implement an expansion into Gw2 and what should it consist of?
More specifically…
What qualifies as a 40 to 60$ (USD) paid expansion? What should it contain and add to the game?
Now, the larger question that tends to plague the entire games industry these days, DLC being so common on nearly every platform, How do you implement one without fracturing the player base?
Obviously you can just throw caution to the wind and hope that you have a large enough hardcore audience that will purchase it, but you may and will lose out on new players due to a now “higher” gate on entry to experience the “full” game.
Or
You can attempt to implement part of it as a patch while gating other aspects behind a pay wall.
As Anet’s focus seems to be, as of the last patch… -sigh- … to gather and keep newer players to hopefully expand its player base.
Sooooo
here’s the Final questions, just to see what the community thinks and can come up with…
1. What Should a full paid expansion Contain?
2. How can you fairly implement it into the game without Fracturing the player base (aka, what aspects of it should come “free” as a general Patch to the game)?
3. What aspects should be maintained behind a “Pay wall” while still providing a sense of Value? (Basically, what shouldn’t be available to those who do not pay while still making your investment/money seem well spent.)
Keep it Clean.

Haven’t been able to play much this patch…but has anyone tested if the reflect pull counts as an interrupt for the target? If so…this can totally be abused by lockdown mesmers lol.
Tested this and it functions as only a shadow step. It is not considered a pull or push and does not trigger traits such as mirror of anguish.
All it ends up being is a very jarring teleport for the reflector and a disappointing wtf for the reflectie…

On a more proper note, Yes, people ought to stop using stupid phrases like these. Some ideas are truly dumb and others don’t make much sense but the majority come out of a good place.
Someone asks for Mounts and more of a WoW like system for Gw2, that means they like Gw2 enough to want to bring some of the things they enjoyed the most from other games to it so they can enjoy it even more as a whole. It’s more of a compliment than it is something that requires a visceral reaction or anger and yelling that they want to destroy Gw2 and it’s not the game for them to play.
So you are basically saying that all suggestions are fine to make, except for suggestions that a person might find more entertainment value in a different game that already has what they are looking for?
How very, very hypocritical of you.
Asking someone if they have played the other game or suggesting they go try the other game or just consider why they are not playing the other game and are instead playing Gw2 are all valid responses, I don’t believe i ever said they weren’t. Are you reading a hidden sentence that no one else is able to see?
Telling someone outright that Gw2 is not the game for them is a different matter. It’s a trollish and demeaning response that doesn’t seek to aid, it seeks to silence and squash conversation while also implying stupidity that the person is even playing the game.
Suggesting Is ok
Demanding/Telling is not ok.
Hope that helps you to avoid making outlandish assumptions and drawing odd misplaced conclusions in the future

Please, can people please stop using this phrase? I get it, you are annoyed that people are criticizing aspects of the game that you really like or even love. And they can be really rude when they do it. But they have their reasons for being critical, just as you have your reasons for being defensive.
I know you will go there: Yes, some people still complain eons after they have stopped playing. You wonder why they still bother. I stopped playing myself for a while because I got bored, but I never lost interest in GW2. And now I am back, because I found new reasons to play and enjoy the game.
There is only one good answer to the question/statement: “Maybe GW2 is not the game for you.”
Yes it is, because I am still here.
It is simple – if the suggestion is sensible and improves the game without actually taking it in a whole new direction or making it go 180 on everything up till that point people will be understanding and open for debate.
If the suggestion is too radical or sounds like " make the game the way I like it regardless of the way others like it or the way it was designed" people will point out that there are other games out there.
It’s simple – if the thread contains an idea that you find favorable and doesn’t criticize or request a change to an aspect of a game that you somehow feel obligated to defend and drive others away from over, you can have a civil discussion.
If the suggestion is something that feels threatening to you, and inspires you to react with a “holy than thou art” and rather trollish response…
Then maybe it’s just not the Thread or Discussion for you.

How about instead of saying, heres another way anet could half kitten this simple request, we just ask them again to put a kittening range indicator on the exit skill?
That way, without cluttering my screen with an unrelated AoE circle when i’m fighting kitten, i just get a red bar on mu utility that lets me know that if i Use Portal Exit now, i’m kittening myself over cause it wont work.
“Gw2, It’s still on the Table!” – Anet
Theres plenty of resources on the forums above where you posted, also i’d drop the Cele gear if you actually want to get into what mesmers are all about.
PvP wise, you can pick between
PU
Shatter
or
Lock down-ish
Personally I run Shatter builds because I like being able to hit my F1-F4 kills, lately its been a 6/4/4 for sPvP with Assassins Amulet + CS as the GM Trait. Main goal is just to troll Fights in progress or screw up rotations in group fights, using stuns + sigil of Impact to land Shatter bursts.
Not the greatest thing ever but its more fun for me than running a cookie cutter build.

Did some testing, This “bug” won’t pull you or a foe inside of a wall.. sadly.. needs more testing tho..
It will not pull an engineer or its turret (turret bubble reflects)
If used without a target on a reflective source it will “push” you forward the remaining distance of the skill.
Can be used to pull foes to unreachable ledges (screw yourself over move in a competitive scene)
…
Thoughts on this.
For the love of god find any and all spots and easy ways to suck foes under the map or inside of walls. ANYTHING, and abuse the kitten of it. Get Anet to fix this as fast as possible.

Yes, and both work fine.
oh good, less work for me and more time to level my ele then.
Actually, What about AT and other ranged utilities?

There have been a lot of gw2 podcasts in the past. A quick Google search shows that.
Most of them have shut down the majority within year one. The problem is that you very quickly run out of stories to tell or thing to report or argue about as all conversation at length or in depth about the game end up at the same place.
That place being why doesn’t a net do this or I wish they would do that man I’m sure losing faith in this game.
Lack of dev interaction. Means you also won’t be getting any interviews or good question and answer riffing.
I don’t want to say don’t try it but think critically before you start. Do you have enough material to last for a year or two already or would you be dependant on game updates past your first few episodes.
“Gw2, It’s still on the Table!” – Anet
tested majority of it myself, standing still and transitioning between water and land dont cause the charges to drop (provided you have the mantra on your bar for UW combat as well).
Things that do trigger it.
Being Upscaled
Being Down Scaled
Way Pointing
Getting Downed
Getting Transformed (Moa or something similar)
basically anything that requires the game to run a check on your traits on the back end or recalculate your base stats causes a loss of the 3rd charge.
You can even charge your mantras, open your hero panel, go to the GM trait, click and hold on it, and then let go (basically re-equip the trait without removing it) and it will remove the third charge on any mantra although you haven’t technically removed the trait at all.

Keep it civil, keep it simple.
I’m a curious person and I like to think about design problems like these when I run out of things to do, But sometimes I’d love to know how the rest of you think on a subject as well. Sooooo…
Conditions, they’re everywhere much like Boons and instant cast 0 animation skills etc…
But hey, Let’s just focus on Conditions for the moment.
I have a couple of question to start you all off with.
Why are Conditions less effective than Direct DPS?
Should Conditions be attached to so many different attacks on so many different professions?
What , if any, condition might we need/be missing?
To start things off a self answer.
Conditions should probably inherently be weaker than direct DPS in just raw number math. However they should carry a lot of Weight and bring control to a fight of any type beyond just a ticking timer for DoT (damage over time). I feel Gw2 missed the mark on the earlier aspect and overloaded us with simple DoT with an afterthought to fight control.
Should conditions be attached to auto attacks or every #2-5 weapon skill on every profession by defualt. no. It quickly causes over saturation and just promotes spam without planning or thinking what a condition will/should do. Gw2 should reward conditions more than it does but not just by increasing their damage. Longer/shorter durations, Less application and less access … The old saying of Less is More.
If necros were the only class with Bleeding on their Weapon auto attack or whatever…
We also seem to be Missing some conditions or having some conditions doing a mismatched double duty, There is no Boon reduction or prevention condition, no punishment for spamming boons (which imo could use a similar treatment to conditions). Why does Weakness reduce crit chance while adding the chance for Glancing blows while also slowing endurance Regen and why is weakness so hard to find and consistently apply? Why do we have 3 different Conditions that only cause damage (burning and bleeding and Torment)? If i threw dirt in your eyes and you were blinded, would it really wear off the moment you took a swing at me and missed?
Would severely Limiting Condition application, open up more options to balance them effectively, even inside of Zergs?
Do some conditions need a rework or buff plus a larger limiting factor to application?
What classes should still retain access to conditions via Crits or gain the option to cause other conditions via traits?
are the questions I’m left with and stuck on.
“Gw2, It’s still on the Table!” – Anet
This sounds less like a Sub Class system and more like a babies First build using only what anets already provided for the class.
Sure while it might work on a fair share of the classes, Necro might even get 7 options and warrior might get 12
how many options to the less diverse classes end up with do you think?
I can see rangers getting maybe 4
Thieves 2 maybe 3
Mesmer 3 at most.
What to you, as a noob player, would that say about class health and diversity? Would it tell you that Warriors are less specialized and more rounded and should be weaker for it? Or does it tell you that you just picked a kitten class with 0 options on playability and play style and should probably go back and try again?
“Gw2, It’s still on the Table!” – Anet
I honestly think that Mesmers should be next in line for the CDI. I feel like Necros are in a decent position, yes they could use some adjustments in terms of how they are so vulnerable to eating CC.
Mesmers did get a decent buff I agree, however they don’t need to be necessarily buffed out the kazoo, the profession just needs to be opened up a bit more.
Currently, I see a few problems with the Mesmer.
#1: In WvW they are nothing more than veilbots, other than that they literally offer nothing that other classes can’t cover and do better. Their damage is pretty awful in zergs, their survivability is awful in zergs. They are the so called masters of interrupts and confusion and misdirection, yet this does not mean anything in anything above 20v20 gameplay.
#2: Still not in a good place tPvP wise. Other classes bunker better than mesmer, classes like thieves do their job better not to mention that as long as there is a thief on the opposing team it is going to be hell for a mesmer unless the team can peel for the mesmer. They have little in the way of sustain. Pretty much portal is the main pro they have going for them. They are pigeonholed into going full zerker because that is the only way they do damage or are effective.
#3: Builds need to be opened up. For example every shatter build goes at least 2/4/0/0/6, yet there are shatter related grandmaster traits in Chaos and Inspiration that get unused. There lacks a lot of diversity. Shatter build doesn’t need to be buffed persay, it is just different builds need to be introduced.
With that said, their condi builds need to be tweaked/adjusted. I would like to see confusion once again be a mainstake of the profession, but things like the torment they put out nerfed.
Mesmers don’t really need a “what can we tweak” CDI so much as a “how can we redo this class so it works on the same level as the other 7?” CDI..
Sure there is some minor differences between a PU Condition and a PU power but all mesmers builds boil down to falling under 2 houses
Do you Use the Class Mechanics fully? (do you press F1-F4)
Do you Ignore class mechanics to an extent? (Do you never or rarely hit F1-F4).
It’s over simplified but that’s really the core problem constraining mesmers in every game mode. 40% of the classes DPS is tied to clones and or Phantasms which don’t fair well outside of anything larger than a 3v3. And how many builds can you come up with when your class mechanic hinders you more than it helps in the majority of game modes?
“Gw2, It’s still on the Table!” – Anet
I havent seen any new builds personally, a lot less PU tho.
mostly just the typical shatter or a handful of lockdown/CI builds.

This is another vague attempt to have the Community here on the Forums attempt their own version of a CDI minus the Anet dev OP. The main idea being threads to cohesively talk about specific Ideas without devolving to the typical Flame warring.
To help keep things more Focused here is the Topic and the Current questions/limitations to your answers or conversations.
Topic : Sub Classes
Questions!
1. Would you like to see Subclasses implemented in some fashion to Gw2?
2. What should / would constitute as a Sub Class?
3. How many Sub Classes Per Profession should there be?
4. Should there Remain an option to Not choose a Sub Class and still Remain Viable in every aspect of the game?
Ultimate Goal for Step one:
Feel out what the Majority View (from the forums) on Sub Class basic’s.
Things to Avoid!
To much detail
Detailing sub classes
throwing out ideas about traits or skills
naming your sub classes
calling someone else an idiot
Trolls, don’t feed them (aka don’t answer their posts)
non-constructive posting
__________________________________________________
Example to get you all started!
This example is also my personal view..
I believe Sub Classes should be implemented into Gw2! I would love to see this happen and open up a new level of both horizontal and semi-vertical progression. Let’s just call it Diagonal…
Anyway, I feel that Subclasses means Multiple options to customize how a class plays, they should feel individual and separate from one another whilst still existing inside of the same class “sandbox” of limitations. Basically, a Necro should still look and feel like a necro, while carrying a short lived mystery of what Kind of necro it is. Mystery solved as soon as it melts your face off and proceeds to wear it as a mask… or something else.. etc..
I feel that Each class should receive at least 2 Sub classes While retaining the right to remain a “basic” version of the class and still be on par with their sub classes. However I am concerned that remaining viable against more specialized or advanced options may become a serious balance issue.
“Gw2, It’s still on the Table!” – Anet
I’ll start. PU shatter mesmer.
funniest and most asinine thing I’ve seen the whole week.. you do realize PU and shatter work in complete opposite ways and don’t mix even slightly, right? oh wait you probably don’t even play outside of warrior or ranger…
What would be OP with 2 more trait points..
Multiple Warrior Builds would be back to being a bit too overwhelming
Guardians Might get up there but who could really say, they dont have a lot of good traits to pick from that they don’t already take.
Thieves would probably climb back to the Thrown of “only viable glass zerkers”
Eles would be pretty happy to be able to take some new traits to the party but their trees are so kittened who could really say how OP it would be.
Necros, mostly still boned
Mesmers, also still boned.
Rangers, probably also still mostly boned.
Engineers would probably only become more annoying and not so much OP..
Because lets be honest, Some classes have traits that Amplify what they are already pretty good at, or encourage certain styles of play. While other classes are crippled and reliant on traits and are nearly unplayable without or shoe horned into playing certain ways with.
“Gw2, It’s still on the Table!” – Anet
Cele is a great stat and a good gear set.. for Guardians or Elementalists..
Mesmers can’t really afford to run it in anything Player vs Player related these days.
It’s Min/Max or limp along really..
PU benefits most from going Full condition damage, Shatter from full zerker/assassins, Refelct from assassins, and Phantasms from Zerkers…
Attempting to be mediocre at all things, this far into the game and metas, you’ll kinda just be left behind.
Yes, you can still make this armor set “work” with almost any build. People say you can eat an elephant if you just do it one bite at a time.. but some of the meta groups would prefer to just blow the elephant up and move on.. if that makes sense..
to clarify, feel free to use the gear, just don’t expect amazing results in WvW or sPvP and don’t expect to get speed runs on dungeons. If those things are super important to you, grab some different stats.
