Swish.2463

While you guys are all free to ride along on its trip to HoT I just wanted to put up a final thought on it all before i just refrain from commenting on any topics about it until it releases.

Over Estimation!

Chronomancers that dont use illusions and secrectly get 1 more new weapon than any other class sounds great guys, it really does…

But this is Anet we’re talking about..

This is the dev team that broke the Warden 4 times over a span of a year and a half before nearly almost fixing it back up to a workable state.

This is the Dev team that changed Mimic to …. that skill I never use and try to forget used to be helpful in fractals and solo dungeon running..

This is the Dev team that stated they wanted Mesmer to be balanced around 1v1 and have 0 passive defense (clones are good enough defense for mesmers)

This is the dev team that took a YEAR to deliver 8 episodes of LS2 (and a year and a half just to slog through LS1)…

This is the dev team that used to think Temporary story and content was OK if it just lasted longer than 1 day..

This is the Dev team that Nerfed Glamours not because they were OP but because it was the easiest fix to WvW and PvE lag and culling…

Now, think back on all the other things the Anet Team have thrown to the players and then later thrown out or redone or claimed to be making Massive and Game Changing alterations to… How many of them were over hyped and overblown?

Mega Servers comes to mind, Trait system Rework, Daily Reworks 1 – 4, World Boss Changes, etc..

Ask yourself not what you HOPE HoT will be and do, but what you Honestly think Anet is capable of producing. The track record points to Not a Lot.

I personally do not expect a Reworked and brand new mechanic, I expect Clones and Phantasms to just blow up slightly differently when you use shatters.

I dont expect anything Game changing from the shield, its got 2 skills and Anet hates giving us CC or anything that might be passive that is not RNG based.

I don’t think the New traits will offer too much in the way of diversity, if they are merely paired against or with our old traits that quickly leaves a lot of filth and useless crap still on the floor or in the way..

I don’t imagine the New Elite skills or utility skills will be better than the handful we all rotate through already.

I Do think it’s a decent way to finally allow some kind of progression and customization for play style, even if it is far too little with no guarantee on later value (no promises have been made to actually expand, it’s just been stated that this is a way too expand in the future provided things don’t get put on the wrong table).

Manage your Expectations boys and girls, Don’t oversell what Anet is purposefully keeping in the dark to yourselves and others. Be realistic with what you think Anet could have pulled off in a year, when you consider the majority of that time was spent on New zones and Graphics for those Zones and Creatures for those Zones and Zones and Making sure Gliding didn’t instantly break the game, etc.. etc..

How much time do you think they actually put into working on just the new mesmer stuff?

That is all, GL HF, Speculate safely!

idk what a Chronomancer would really entail, but if it’s all based on manipulating time, then I see more abilities like Time Warp and Power Block.

One way unique ability it could give us that I immediately thought of was increasing enemy cast times. This would have fantastic synergy with interrupt builds, making skills easier to interrupt. It would be like a new condition perhaps? Maybe add a 1s cast time to all enemy skills for 5 seconds? idk

You mean a condition like chill?

Quick break down from someone not looking for excuses to speculate or be excited >.>

Btw couldnt find your other things of note, just the shield.

So let’s start with the shield..

Channeled skill or Held in some fashion, Mesmer glowing before cast, no glow after cast.

Foes are moving at normal speeds

Foes are hit with AoE which has an initial strike

Foes are slowed by cripple (easily noticed after second pulse)

Foe B dies on second pulse

Foe A dies on third Pulse

AoE dissipates much like chaos storm or any glamor skill does as of current, this does not look to be a shatter of any kind.

No Knock Downs, no delay or slowing of time, just limping critters that get pwned.

Regular Chaos armor is shown in a group fight where other professions are present, not outlandish to assume whatever you noticed is an effect from a guardian (which is clearly present)

Mysterious new utility… i Saw a mesmer use Gs1, A portal either open or end, maybe a mantra explosion of some type could have just as easily been a Guardian skill…

I’m just not seeing whatever it is you’re seeing chaos, I’m terribly sorry but I would appreciate some of the drugs you’re taking if you have any to spare

Mesmer secondary class speculation

It’s a bit quick to judge anything, but he did mention that, with the example of ranger, specialized profession will have new heal, utilities, elites and most important of all, class mechanics. So I’m more interested in what will replace shatters than just the shield.

too many "s"’s here.

It was A new heal
New utilites and traits
A new Elite skill
A new Weapon
Changes to class mechanic (extremely vague could just be added conditions or damage boost, these do qualify as changes)

For instance the Ranger in the video still clearly had a Wolf Pet, there’s no replacement or serious change to the class mechanic there as far as i can tell.

grammar of announcements from any large company should always be put under a micro scope…

specific words are chosen and rehearsed and used for the reason of being able to later point back on.

if you are later mad and want to sue anet for false claims they can point back to the exact grammar of “1 new weapon” and assure you that it was entirely your fault you read into this to mean 1 per specialization… never assume or try to read past posts that are official, take them at literal face value

Mesmer Shield Phantasm!

in Mesmer

Posted by: Swish.2463

Swish.2463

Too much to speculate on here But without completely reworking how the mesmer class operates and how clones and phantasms are handled (ie removing them entirely from the mesmer) You can’t exactly just remove the shatter and replace it 100%

You’d have to carry over some simbalance of the same mechanic, a way to abuse and thusly clear your illusions for a greater benefit.

Tho if Anet does remove shatters and using this new system removes illusions from play that also means no phantasm on the shield is a possibility.

There is still far too little real information on any of these things for me to comfortably do anything but assume that Anet will kitten this up one way or another…

But back on topic, If i had to guess at a shield Phantasm…

  1. would be a slightly reworked Defender, which will be removed and replaced in the utility bar by something else after your “mastery” is completed..
  1. something based off of the Guardian Staff, the AoE heal maybe (phant buffs allies/ does something harmful to foes)
  1. Hammer from someone else, Make it a CC and watch the QQ (Back Breaker would be hilarious)

said this in another thread but i agree with the above.

shield is great, but idk how badly i’ll want to jump on top of it provided i still have to figure out if i want to use the neutered sword or the dumb scepter… I would have preferred 1 new main handed weapon and no shield…

provided that it sounds like Anet is only giving each class 1 new weapon to play with… I’m… not as excited as i want to be :\

no clue, doesnt really sound like something a mesmer would graduate into for a very first mastery from Anet.

I’m curious what the new skills and elite and traits are and if they are all as useless as the last additions we got..

But mesmer shield is nice… i guess.. i really would have prefered a new main handed weapon to break the tiresome process of trying to make a build and having to ask myself “Sword or Scepter? Eh.. lets just go GS and Staff again..”

Thoughts on Balance

in PvP

Posted by: Swish.2463

Swish.2463

aka the trickle..

Specifically the pace of balance patches in Gw2.

I had a small thought the other day regarding the pro’s and con’s of the pace of balance in Gw2 that i thought i should share as I’ve never seen it brought up before…

Well, we’ve all seen the con’s first hand but what about the pro’s?

The Core:

Gw2at its core is a very tight and well framed network of many things, specifically the style of combat. Its just fun to play and learn and get good at… However by design or accident it’s also extremely unwieldy and obtuse to try and alter. This leaves the dev’s a very limited space to work in. sparse Traits and possibilities for set ups, a handful of utility skills and slightly more Weapon locked skills.

Gw2 would seem a very difficult problem to tackle from a balance stand point with so many moving parts but from the points which are easy to tweak, why wait so long inbetween?

Fast balance patches would allow the best “numbers”, numbers meaning whomever or whatever produces the best results which is usually damage or the lack there of, to rule. Player skill , as limited in its ability to become applicable in a game that is built on so many back end and invisible and passive back bones, would have less to offer in terms of victories or losses.

Slow balance patches still allows for a small mix up of the best “numbers” to shake the meta when done correctly. While this can lead to a stagnant meta in-between or towards the ends, it does allow time for player skill to become what pushes matches one way or another. Provided, of course, balance is accurate and pointed and the games overall structure is solid, this balancing practice is what seeks to reclaim what Gw1 provided. That is to suggest, when two players meet using the same builds and gear, the more skilled player will win, or, at least have the greater chance at winning.

Con’s with this system are self evident, anyone who has played for a period that stretches over two or more balance attempts and Quality of Life improvements shows that the frame work needs a lot of TLC as does the aim of the balance team… But.. and to put it as a …

TL;DR

Slow balancing is Most likely the best option for a game like Gw2. We may need to, as a whole, give the Anet team some credit here and attempt to, more pointedly, “point” to the more underlying issues with the systems in place. (ie, server instability, Might, etc..)

no i wouldn’t argue that one build is greater than another, some work better for different people. i just wanted to point out the advantage on clones and several recharge rates that IP carries over a CI build.

I think it all comes down to taste and what you want to accomplish personally.

Interesting Read Re: Cele Meta

in Mesmer

Posted by: Swish.2463

Swish.2463

I already posted on this in the pvp forums but i’ll just copy paste it. I think the article is garbage and it also misses the actual underlying issues and questions.

“Rather than asking why these two are killing glass options ask why do they have to fill this role of glassy dps.

How many balanced or bunker options do these two classes have access to?

Thief and Mesmer are two prime examples of outliers in a game more centered on self encapsulated and sustained builds. Most of the other classes have a lot of passive sustain and aid while these two are purely active with no back end. They also lack balanced options which require a min max stance to gain effectiveness…

Mesmer and thief are the high burst roamers because they cannot take any other roles.

Is this unbalanced? In contemporary or historical terms no, having classes be specialized is a healthy thing. In the context of gw2 it’s terribly unbalanced as many other classes do not or cannot specialise and have the options to fill so many other roles or multiple roles at the same time."

Tl;DR yes Mesmer and Thief are unbalanced, but in the wrong direction that the article would imply. Gw2 is built and balanced Around being able to do all the things and do them all really well.. these two classes are some of the few that can only do 1 very well or two things decently… all things awfully

After they burn two dodges in a row

What are the best ways to force a dodge?

Your problem is you’re not bringing the right tools for the job. Staff/GS Shatters? They know exactly what you’re about and what’s coming.

In contrast
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A55t0vzyvyA

Do you use the standard 2-2-0-0-6 build or is your build different?

Best ways to force out dodges hmm…

I would say you can easily bait one maybe two with a mock burst aka using f2 and quickly setting up more clones. Anyone worth their salt knows that a shatter will hurt and will usually throw away a dodge on the least potent one you can throw at them.

Phantasms are also great for pushing dodges as their attacks do hurt a lot. A favorite combo of mine has been to use f2 and then summon izerker while setting up a clone or two. 8 of 10 times my mind wrack is about to land on a helpless foe.

Something else useful is your teammates. They cause a lot of dodges and movement as well and you can easily piggyback off their efforts. If you notice your warrior has a foe knocked down with his hammer, then summon a phantasm on that foe and increase their panic and likelihood of making a bad or wrong move. It’s mistakes on the opposing side that let you do your work.

So... what if spear and trident on land?

in Mesmer

Posted by: Swish.2463

Swish.2463

wouldn’t hold your breath for this but heres probably what they would play like.

Trident = Mesmer Staff – RNG + Guardian Staff + Guardian Scepter – AoE.

Basically we’re looking at WoC and then the small aoe blind burst followed by create a clone then the pistol phantasm and then the guardian scepter imob.

It plays well enough UW but on land there are much much better options to be using such as the regular staff. It also doesn’t sound terribly fun to use outside of a 1v1 or general PvE.

Spear – Ranger Sword + Mesmer Focus

Looks great and feels great UW but on land i doubt i’d pick it up. Very long chain with only a single evade frame on the AA (which is nearly as slow as the scepter). you’d need to fix that and speed things up. The biggest burst is from the 2 skill which would have to be murdered and changed to mock the Ele’s flame dash skills, a slow crawling PBAoE would get you destroyed above water. The phantasm is just iWarden with less perks, the curtain is similar to Temporal Curtain (makes you faster and slows down foes) and #5 is just Into the Void + a small AoE pulse on its location.

I’d probably rather just bring a sword and a pistol or focus to get the job done.

Personally I think people want UW weapons to be on land so badly because they haven’t really considered why some UW weapons seem so amazing.

It’s a lack of options and the inability to compare them directly to other weapons in a similar environment. Spear and Trident might seem amazing but if i could take my GS and staff UW i would be doing that instead, i guarantee it. Leave the UW weapons alone and where they belong. Lack of competition is the only thing keeping them used and of any interest these days.

Other Balance Notes of Note

in Mesmer

Posted by: Swish.2463

Swish.2463

Might

Might is an exceptionally strong boon, currently providing a total of 875 power and condition damage if stacked to its full potential. This makes might one of the biggest single sources of damage enhancement available to players. With this update, we’ll slightly tone down the overall benefit of might as well as target a few specific items that augment might gain.

Might: The power and condition damage provided by this boon have been reduced from 35 per stack to 30.

Confusion

Along with the change to might, we are also looking at the confusion condition in PvE. Confused creatures generally don’t swing as often, and the effects of the condition can feel a bit lackluster when they hit. To this end, we’ll improve the damage of confusion in PvE only.

Confusion: The effect of condition damage on confusion has been increased by 33% in PvE only. This change does not affect PvP or WvW.

Items

We’ll tone down the effects of a couple of specific items with the potential to far exceed the role they’re expected to fill.

Superior Sigil of Battle: The amount of might granted from this item has been reduced from 3 stacks to 2 stacks. The duration remains at 20 seconds.
Major Sigil of Battle: The amount of might granted from this item has been reduced from 2 stacks to 1 stack. The duration remains at 20 seconds.
Rune of the Nightmare: The duration of fear applied from the sixth piece of this rune has been reduced from 2 seconds to 1 second. Its recharge has been reduced from 90 seconds to 60 seconds.

While not directly Mesmer Related, these things apply to a lot of our builds. Thoughts?

in Mesmer

Swish.2463

was just about to post these myself before i double checked…

Cant say i’m terribly impressed with any changes aside from that to TW which is lovely.

iMage will still be a useless kitten that cant hit anything but atleast when it does hit that dolyak in WvW, we know it’ll have even more confusion on it than before…

Defender cd reduction doesnt make the phantasm anymore appealing to me

IoL 10s CD reduction is a joke. doesnt change anything and it’s still a kitten version of all other profession revival skills..

Confusion duration increase would be awesome IF they also increased Confusion damage in PvP. The duration increase + 33% damage increase for PvE still isnt going to get you more than 2/3k per attack every 12 seconds to 30 seconds depending on what your fighting..

Overall impression

I think its a cute attempt at a nice gesture towards mesmer players but it’s not really fixing or changing anything of any real weight or importance. It’s more hand waving and distraction to try and cover up whats potentially behind the curtain.

plus we dont even know what changes will actually make it, be bugged, bug something else, break something else, be changed to be worse than before, dropped entirely and forgotten about, what changes are not being listed, etc .. etc..

pffffthb… alright fine.

Things i would enjoy seeing done.

Utility Redo’s and additions
Mantras – redo, too obtuse in current format
Mimic – redo it again
Illusion of Life – redo it, it sucks compared to all other res utilities in the game…
Signets – passives could do with some redo’s as could actives
Black out – bring this kitten back yo, disable all skills on both parties for x seconds. watch what happens to thieves or that invuln spamming bunker guard… (balance is what will happen)
Power Block – Remove the GM trait and bring this back as an Elite skill. Lock out 1 type of utility from the bar of anyone struck by this skill (if they have 3 of the same type then they should be SOL – looking at you Cantrip Ele)
Panic – Bring back clustered group punishment! interrupts for all the things that stand on top of one another, even in pve (use it against the players please).

New condition maybe? I would vote for Enfeebled (xx% chance to be interrupted if struck while using a skill)

Traits!
Please for the love of god get rid of all the “on down” “on res” and “while downed” garbage on every profession… replace them with something useful, no one wants to be more effective while downed at the cost of being less effective while up (this is bad game design guys)

Go look at the other classes traits and then look at ours, then look back at their and then ours and so on and so forth and repeat until you figure out that Mesmers probably need more passives in order to get onto the same platform as the other classes in this game. No they don’t need to be BS “clear all conditions when you summon a clone” just less micro management on kittened ICD and more boosts to raw effectiveness such as “all crits carry a 5% chance to interrupt a foes action” or something..

Less RNG, the game needs less of it as a whole and trying to base 1/3 of the class off of a luck in the numbers is very irritating, I’d really want this stuff reduced as much as is possible while still retaining the feeling of “getting lucky” without the more numerous moments of getting kittened because you never got any useful condition/boon that you needed.

New weapons! give us some options beyond what we have. Pistols, Bows, Shields, Maces, Daggers, War Fans, Day old Tuna, Sharp Sticks , Whatever! I don’t care what they are, as long as it gives me some more options in combat.

I would love to see a weapon that is almost fully CC (like a warriors hammer or any engi kit or a thief pistol) as much as i’d like to see a much more evasive and less predictable weapon. Not so much ports and Blur/standinonespotevading skills but more things like Swap, where you swap spots with your foe or take an attack up front and then evade while creating a phantasm/clone that repeats back the attack you took… or maybe it just lets you drop mother kittening auto lock and allows clones to be accidentally targeted by anyone over the age of 5…. really i’d just like the last one if you cant manage anything else anet…

More options like DE. If you’re going to tie us down to this mechanic and you’ve been paying attention at all over the past 2 years then you probably realize that DE is a huge problem and solution for both build diversity and viability. We need more options like it or we need the option to stop being an option and just have it as a base mechanic.

Healing Power scaling – fix this, its kittening terrible.

More Balanced options – It’s not often but sometimes i do want to tank and hold a point on my mesmer, i’d love to get even just 1 option to be able to do this as well as any engi/ele/guard/warrior does without having to spam all my evades and invulns just to have it decapped…

Hard/Soft Countering – Lets work on the fact that 1 class hard counters another to the point where it is no longer fun for either side and guide this imbalance towards the less frustrating area of Soft Counters where one side can have an advantage but the other can still outplay or build to be the one with the advantage and still be outplayed…

aka just learn to balance your professions and practice what you preach…

More Boon hate please – Top tier builds always, always, always have the ability to spam and stack boons. why cant we have the ability to spam and spam remove them just as fast? Or do more damage per boon on a target, or do damage when removing a boon etc..

More punishment in general, after the confusion nerf and Glamour apocalypse there just isnt much Punishment left in Gw2. Let’s get back on track for making people learn to Play smart or Get stomped when it comes to any match up, not just against a Mesmer (though i do think we should be the most dangerous for this stuff)…

Bug fixes – lets finish these up and actually get the entirety of the class working for once in it’s life shall we? Thank you..

thats all i can think of atm..

Who do you focus as Mesmer in PvP?

Depends on my team and the match up but lets say its on a premade team vs a balanced other premade team.

Majority of the time I will focus on a called target or a target that is right next to it for AoE splash damage.

If there is no called target I’ll identify the sturdiest looking pillar (usually a guardian or some kind of tanky point holder, also could be an Engi) And proceed to make that players day a kitten storm and force them to support themselves or support their team and go down.

If there is a particularly annoying player on the other team that keeps tipping matches that is Not a tanky support, i’ll tend to swap focus to them when they show up or go back and forth between them and the tanks.

If you bring Moa over MI (like i do) Necro’s are rarely ever a problem. They only build steam if a team is playing well already, and do best at tipping even matches or letting land slides turn into bigger land slides. Necro’s can rarely dodge mid fight, they love to pop death shroud and forget how to do anything but run side to side and hit 1 5 4 3 1 1 1 1 1. A Moa to the face not only means no Death shroud, but less sustain from siphoning ( they also dont regain Life force while they’re a Moa)

So when it comes to necro in a team fight for me its just a Fire and forget with Moa. They’re either focused down by two other players or they run for the hills and leave their team down a man.

My philosophy is basically just to Focus on helping with large scale bursts and then take out the support for the harder hitting and less sustainable players on the other team. That thief might be scarey to me but without that Cele Ele and Engi to cover for it, it becomes much less scarey to my 2 or 3 allies that are also present.

Mesmer's and Thieves the cause of PvP's Meta?

in PvP

Technically, I could agree.

Those two professions have always dominated “zerk” place because of their inherit “tricks” I’d say.

They’re quite possibly the only professions which don’t really get much goodie by switching zerk to other power amulet, but it really hurts the damage.

And since their defensives are based on evasion and general prevention of damage, defensive stats have much less value. In opposite, example, for Necromancer.

Is it a bad thing? Yea. But it’s been in this game for so long that I doubt we’ll see any shift in here. If you want to play other zerk build, you have to have tools to deal with thieves and mesmers. All.

As for the article – while the author starts by accusing both professions, only the Thief is being described in latter parts. Dunno…

This is getting close to the right question.

Rather than asking why these two are killing glass options ask why do they have to fill this role of glassy dps.

In the context of gw2 it’s terribly unbalanced as many other classes do not or cannot specialise and have the options to fill so many other roles or multiple roles at the same time.

offers little to no Boon support or healing, limited to 0 CC.

Yes a Ranger can run a full spirit build as a support but i wouldn’t want to be partnered up with one of those on my Mesmer either.

In order..

Thief (a smart and decent one)
Second Mesmer (non-PU)
Guardian ( a smart one, not these Medi soft spikes)
Engineer (lots of CC or maybe even a turret troll)
Elementalists – (D/D seems to be the only type these days but at least it offers some Heals and condition help)

After that we’re into much less preferred and yet still in order

Warriors – out for themselves and dont offer much in the way of help beyond meat sponge / hope i dont get spotted

Rangers – Another selfish class, maybe ok for back up DPS to my own Bursts but they aren’t going to hold any ones attention away from me

Necros – Just a wobbling damage sponge or a wobbling DPS/half glass damage sponge. They’re usually ignored until the more dangerous professions are removed (IE Mesmers) which means I often just get focused more.. not a good buddy to have.

too much hype in this thread…

all in good fun i’m sure but don’t bother getting too serious about it. If this actually is a proper full expansion that actually brings things like new weapons or skills then they are probably well past the point of finalized and firmly locked in the pipe line.

quick suggestions.

Dont run Condition builds, and do go full glass.

Phantasm builds work well for the first parts, maybe shatter.

Go PVT for part 3 tho.. tons and tons and tons of aoe, conditions are pointless to bring, 0 targets for large chunks of the fight.

I wont have the time to help in game, but since i hobbled through it on my glass cannon i thought i’d warn the rest of you.

Where does mesmer stand in sPvP?

in Mesmer

Posted by: Swish.2463

Swish.2463

Mesmer in sPvP… Well tbh it’ll probably get more stale than your guardian and a lot faster but you’re welcome to give it a shot…

Your build choices are pretty vague and you can experiment a lot but if you want to actually contribute to a team then Full Glkittenter is pretty much the only option at this time. Most people bring a GS/Staff.

Mesmer is not in a great standing at this time mostly thanks to the 3 Cele professions, its hard having to run a 0 sustain burst class vs the might stacking sustained burst meta. We’re also still thief food for the most part.

Basically if you’re going to run a meta mesmer in a match these days you’re either going to have a great time stomping on your foes or a terrible time constantly getting stomped on until you afk or the match ends…

If you don’t want to argue to earn a slot on a team or dont want to be babysat should you choose to push a point or try to decap something… then roll something else.

If you don’t mind the occasional “we have a mesmer, gg” comments (yes these are intended to be mean) or whispers from small children accusing you of cheating or hacking.. If you don’t mind only really having 1 build to pick from unless you find or create a team that will work around you and allow you to experiment with other things..

If you dont mind those then Sure Mesmer might be the refreshing thing for you.

Question about bounces

in Mesmer

Posted by: Swish.2463

Swish.2463

Bouncing attacks of all types have always acted like this, it’s not a bug.

A projectile in Gw2 has a maximum distance at which it can travel in total. Generally i’d guess that this distance is about 1.9x or 2.3x the distance indicated on the skill itself when it comes to attacks or projectiles that bounce. it could be more but that’s just what i would guess.

Bouncing skills are also still tied to the typical projectile rules and cannot travel further than they normally would in a single journey. aka you can throw out Gs2 in range and then dodge back out of its range, the projectile will strike your target but then cannot reach you and will disappear mid flight.

while it may not be specifically noted that these are or are not “guild wars”

i’d like to note that the only accounted for Guild war is the Third one in 1013AE

Logically i would assume that a conflict requiring the intervention of the gods would constitute a very large scale War or the other Two Guild wars.

Doric, prostrated at Her feet ... twice?

in Lore

they are remarkably similar because there were many wars and in fighting before and after magic was released upon humans.

The first event describes the end to the first Guild Wars (115 BE) where Ascalon, Kryta, and Orr found an uneasy peace.

The second comes after the Reintroduction of magic and concerns the Second Guild Wars event as well as the battles between Abbaddon and his followers vs the other 5 gods and their followers.

Doric rose to power through his Wisdom and deep concern for his people. He first begged the gods to save humanity from themselves, and later to save them from the temptation of magic.

if you run a Sword Focus all the time I’m sure the foe sitting still and staring at you is entirely true Pyro.

I’ve brought it into basic PvE and Dungeon runs with minor changes and it works just fine. is it super meta? no but it works :P Give it a try, you might like it.

Yes, yes, I’m sure it works in pve. This is because literally anything can work in pve because pve is so easy. That doesn’t mean that it works well or that you’re not a wasted spot on a team for running it.

Foes standing still and attacking slowly is not dependent on weaponset. That’s simply how enemies behave. They use slow attacks slowly. They’re animation locked, so no moving while attacking. In 5s they’ll use maybe 2 attacks if you’re lucky. If you try and kite them around to get torment ticking…they’ll just switch aggro to someone not running in circles. Additionally, I’d love to see you do any damage whatsoever to some bosses like the molten duo that would laugh at your attempts to shatter anything.

This build falls squarely into the list of ‘kick on sight, no questions asked’ builds if I’m not in the mood to carry someone that isn’t contributing anything to the team whatsoever.

i wanted to glean some kind of helpful insight that wasnt purely negative for your post so i gave it a day but all i come away with is the following..

rehash and circle back on something negative you stated earlier (cant work in pve to well yeah anything works in PvE) and that you refuse to try it, you refuse to give it a chance. QQ You’re an elitist.

Maybe I’m wrong there, but anyway maybe read the post above yours before just replying next time. <3
