High crit damage with High crit chance was a VERY real thing.

This nerf was unwarranted and has many ulterior motives behind it.

Traitlines that grant crit damage, are nerfed by this too, it’s 20% crit damage versus 30% so yes the nerf is a little in pvp too.

Defending ferocity due to oddly itemized is a farce.

Condi vs Power/Crit greatly favored Condi before this patch. Now that you are lowering the amount of damage for crit the scales are even going to be more tipped.

I find Mesmer stealth to be better implemented than Thief stealth, and far less annoying to deal with.

To me, Thief stealth implementation commits the classic MMO design error of granting a significant damage bonus to some attacks when stealthed (pretty much every weapon auto except short-bow and sword get a massive damage increase); which lends itself to “kill the enemy before they can react” game-play which is not exactly fun for the victim, and usually results in the classes with that particular mechanic getting balanced so that that are completely reliant on it to the point all other styles are moot.

(Another point of comparison: DAOC Shadowblade vs a spear+beast specced Hunter. The first was heavily stealth reliant for DPS and survival; many complaints on both sides abounded. The latter used stealth as tool but was not nearly as helpless when it didn’t work. I never heard much if any complaint about spear+beast Hunters being lopsided fights.)

Which is kind of crappy for multiple reasons if you sit down and think about it. Why the GW2 devs decided to make that error that the GW1 devs avoided especially irks me given that there is also decades of history in MMO’s that shows how badly such implementation skews everything else.

Yes if simply could add option to allow PvE gear stats into our custom arenas would be able to get a lot more people to come into the custom arena and duel etc. Then it’s a hop, skip, and a jump away from converting them to competitive PvP.

Ugh GW1 GvG sucked.

DAOC 8v8 was better

GW2 GvG is the way it is due to the game design. The only way to make use of the games mechanics properly is with larger groups.

I’d like to see 10 v 10 personally 15 is good too but 20 is too many

Ferocity won’t fix the meta because the meta is ruled by Condi/CC in PvP.

In WvW condi rules small engagements while power rules zerg

PvE stays power

This change just further pushes the condi meta and only makes PvE more painful to one’s sack than it already is

Ahh, I see the issue. You didn’t see the Ready Up when they announced that it was specifically those “hybrids” that they were aiming at, especially for WvW.

1. They killed build diversity to a new holy trinity of Power/Condi/Bunker
2. They said they’d never nerf based on WvW being as it’s imbalanced
3. They’ve failed to actually understand how this nerf will play out

It’s also a slap in the face that the original selling point of this nerf was to break up the PvE meta.

We’ll see how many ppl keep playing after this patch

I’ve the feeling, I missed sth.
So what the Op wants is simply sPvP but instead of amuletts having all stats, being able to have stats on all armor parts?

Might be interesting, but what would be the point of this?
So you can make even glassier getting ripped in pieces even faster by thieves and to get even tougher bunkers and dire-condi builds.

But those are only my thoughts.
I still would welcome anything new to spvp.

PvP would remained untouched and only allow Custom Arenas to have the option to use exotics/etc. along w/ TDM.

The PvP you all know will not be touched.

And yes you can build glassier but you can also make more hybrid/balanced builds

Why only Exotics?

There is NO place where “only exotics” are used.

I personally don’t care about WvW. But I can understand that WvW players would like to have some training ground.
So, give them their WvW Custom Arena or sth like this. But please don’t call it sPvP.

But this wont happen due to a simple reason:

If there will be PvP-Arenas with PvE gear, a big part of the WvW players might switch to those Arenas and stop playing WvW.

Why bothering with keeps and long distances to run, when you also can join the “WvW Arena”?

Why only exotics is to ask yourself the question why is ferocity being introduced???

Yet that being said I’m not against using ascended either as long as everyone can use ascended w/out grinding/time sinks. Also because no one can stop the ferocity debacle that is coming on the 15th.

As for people stopping playing WvW to play this game type. No it won’t kill WvW just like sPvP hasn’t killed WvW. Believe it or not people play WvW for the game type alone and not for the build diversity. Guilds upon Guilds dedicate their entire time unto that Game Type. In fact you’d be hard pressed to counter the argument that WvW is an enormous reason this game is as successful as it is; while, sPvP is far from the reason for this game’s success.

Besides this isn’t a WvW vs PvP vs PvE debate. It is simply an awesome idea to promote more diversity in the play modes of this game, and I don’t care who you are you can’t deny a more diverse option base is good for the game.

Won’t touch the versatility argument, but what are the requirements of a proper team support build?

A build that will not only provide great support for your team (heals, blast finishers, CC, boons, etc.) but it will have good damage AND survivability.

Using the equipment way that is used in PvE allows for better customization and give/take power to the build makers.

For instance lets just take a thief.

You can build a thief to have over 3k attack, 2.8k armor, over 15k hps, 40% chance to crit, and 100 crit damage.

You can do this with ANY class btw

With the new map, and setting a point limit (since teams still get 5 points per kill), can’t you do this anyway with the PvP gearset once April 15th rolls around?

That’s the problem right there. I’m sure people will attempt to do this w/ the PvP gearset but it is inherently flawed for TDM. No versatility in builds or proper team support ones available.

That’s literally what it comes down to. That’s why PvP builds are more simplistic. In WvW it doesn’t matter because the game mode is designed to be unbalanced PvP. However, implementing such a system in sPvP would go against the design philosophies that ArenaNet has for PvP.

Actually it would be more balanced than current PvP is right now.

But I already stated this would be separate from sPvP, tPvP, and Hot Joins. So literally there is no impact on the game play you like to play

p.s. Simple is not always better btw

enemy would have same limitations or whats the problem?
all i see in your post is you need your Gear + buff food + wvw buffs and all the other stuff to PLAY and WIN a GvG
tactic – strategie – skill and all this stuff doessnt matter its all about gear

The problem is that PvP builds are too simplistic. The only variety comes in form of trait allocation. In exotic armor/trinkets only format the armor/trinkets become a part of your build. You can achieve much more variety in builds.

Truth of the matter is simple. Under my suggested format builds the theory crafters are rewarded much more than currently in PvP. You can build a character with 3k attack 3k armor over 50 crit damage and a decent chance to crit w/out fury.

Can’t do that in PvP currently.

Many people know engineers are very weak to conditions and hard CC.

Of which any decent player can and will make up for in other aspects of their game.

The problem still is there it doesn’t go away. If it was that easy to make up for in other areas nobody would complain about anything.

Their weakness still persists no matter how good they are at anything else. You can still abuse that weakness on the highest condition damage engi out there like you would on the lowest condition damage engi.

Those weaknesses you’ve listed are the same for just about EVERY class. 1v1 and small skirmishes the engi is just like what’s been said.

Also the extremely high burst heal capabilities can help negate a condi burst

People have already stated Engi is OP who’ve put significant time into one

Anet failed to understand that they are their own game. Too much wanting to be an eSport and Moba caused what we are seeing today.

Anet should have just stuck to the developer code of building the world and letting the players dictate how to play in it.

Competitive PvP would have developed and actually DID develop under the system they created. If they would just listen to the players on what they want they’ll be even more successful then they already are.

This game has SERIOUS latent potential due to the game engine alone. If Ego’s would just be set aside this game could be the best PvP game on the market…..but you gotta put your ego’s away

I think most of the wvw players who love to fight have been asking for this since launch but I doubt it will ever happen.

Well it just makes sense to have this.

With the new locker system and PvP build system it’s VERY VERY VERY feasible to allow this to happen. I think it would pretty much give a great new avenue for PvP.

And if it don’t work out….You don’t lose anything but save face as a company giving players more options.

But it will work out

People don’t get it.

This was never about the zerker meta. This was about nerfing damage – my non-zerker build got a 11.23% damage nerf.
Every class that had some investment in crit got a damage nerf. This was never about zerker, just that damage was nerfed.

Will this change the content ? No.
Will it change the game dramatically? No.

Yet condi bursting stays….

Also this was solely based on WvW aspect of this game.

Let’s make this happen even if it’s just in Custom Arenas.

You can keep your tPvP, SoloQ, and HotJoins. I just think this will open the door to a wonderful new opportunity in GW2 PvP.

No Ascended Gear, No 20v20, and Certainly No sPvP build only game play.

Please let us have this so we can further enjoy GW2 PvP

Lots of PvP’rs will prolly flame/kitten/moan/etc about this idea. Heck I might even get a WvW nub comment or 2

BUT

This won’t effect your gameplay in any way shape or form. Infact it may just bring some more ppl to actually click on that PvP icon in the upper left corner of their screen.
