I want a ship for my Guild Hall. But really, I’d settle for anything where more than 5 people can enter an instance together.
Well, I’m happy they are listening to the people that want raids, even though it is the minority wanting them.
Hopefully they will add duels, other pvp modes and mounts to the game in the future.
I’m hoping they are listening to those who want to be able to sit on chairs
The point being that GW2 appeals to a broad spectrum of players whether they are PvPers, PvEers, RPers or any combination of those playstyles. But Guild halls and player housing appeals to players across the game. I’m really looking forward to seeing what the devs come up with.
Posting my support for housing and guild halls, especially if we can freely decorate them, as we could in SWG.
As a guild leader, I’d love this information. It would give me a clear idea of who is most active, who is inactive and who to remove.
We don’t RP when questing, just when we are progressing our plots and there is no requirement to join in with RP. We have a couple of members who do not RP at all. If you try RP and don’t like it, it’s not an issue. As our style of RP can seem a little different (we could it ’realism’), we are willing to help new RPers settle in.
I’d suggest that you guest on the server first and observe our RP after a chat with Anshra, the GM leading the RP in GW2.
Most of us are leveling 2nd, 3rd, 4th characters, or even more, so yes we do hearts quests etc. Grouping up benefits the guild too.
I hope that helps!
Are you looking for a guild that RPs and includes all levels and professions in their activities?
We don’t demand specific gear, but we will help you work towards it, we don’t demand specific professions, but we do demand that you have fun!
If you are interested in RP, you may want to consider Piken Square which is regarded as being the unofficial EU RP server. It is active and there are many guilds to consider, including mine
We do accept non-RPers, but our main focus is that playstyle. If you would like to find out more, please follow the links in my sig.
I’m the leader of an EU guild that was first formed in 2005, in SWG, Sea of Sorrows Desperadoes. We still have members who joined us back then and we also welcome new players.
We are on Piken Square, the unofficial EU RP server which is active and even in the most remote areas, you will bump into other players. We are most active in PvE and RP, we do accept non-RPers, though.
Our members are over 21, have families, careers and other commitments, so we accept that players can’t always be online. We also realise that members don’t necessarily have time to grind for the best gear and we have a policy of taking any guild members to any dungeon, providing they aren’t gated.
We also accept that members can’t spend hours and hours online, so we have no rigid rules regarding attendance for raids etc. We are here to have fun and that’s exactly what I want my members to have.
If you are interested, please follow the link above, or those in my sig. Our home page may appear a little misleading, but most of us are in GW2 for PvE.
I remember Crafe’s events from SWG, a lot of players participated and had a lot of fun.
Good luck with your event, Crafe!
Hi Crafe! Just back from a week’s holiday, so I’ve not been around the last few days. SEA is still going strong, with names you will remember, as well as new ones too.
We are playing STO and TSW as well, tonight is STO night, so you probably won’t catch me until tomorrow or Tuesday. GW2 is my main PvE game, so am in game when not RPing in the others.
Feel free to check our calendar to see when I’m around.
Guild halls would be a wonderful addition. But I would prefer to see an option for where guilds would like their halls.
We are an RP guild and few of us PvP. A guild hall in the Mists isn’t something that would appeal to many of our members and if this was the only option, it could turn many of us away from the game.
For those of us who don’t PvP, I’d like to suggest that the guild leader has the option to open their home district to their members. This would at least allow non RP, non PvP guilds somewhere to gather for meetings. For RP guilds, it would also provide a private instance for RP.
Ideally, I’d like to see the guild halls in the city of the guild leader’s choice, if they choose to have it in the Mists, fair enough.
Whatever the option, I’m all for the guild being able to work towards new additions, improvements etc. This works well in STO and we are pleased with our fleet starbase that gets used regularly for RP.
Guest to Tarnished Coast. You are not alone. Most of my guild plays the way you do.
We should start a movement. Get all of us “hardcore casuals” together on one server. Tarnished Coast seems a nice bet given that is it the unofficial RP server.
Piken Square is the EU unofficial RP server, it too is busy and a good place for like-minded EU players to gather.
I lead a guild that play like you. We have families, careers and other RL commitments that mean we have limitations on our playing time. It has taken some time to have enough members to attempt dungeons as a guild and we never demand specific gear, builds or levels. The aim is to have fun and try and crack things together.
But when we do set our sights on something, we will work towards it. If guildhalls require influence etc, then we will work on that until we achieve it.
Personally, I have one 80, on which I’m slowly doing map completion, with the eventual aim of obtaining Bifrost. I’m also pottering around levelling a Ranger, doing dailies as I go or for 30 minutes before starting my day. I’m levelling in a different area to my main character and seeing new areas opening up for exploration.
At our peak times, I join in with our RP plot line and have fun seeing our characters develop as their stories progress.
I’m in no hurry to reach ’end’ game. In fact, I believe that for a good MMO there is no such thing as an end game. It should always be evolving and moving on, something I see GW2 doing in the form of the Living World events and future expansions.

I don’t know if it’s a small thing, or a major thing to enable, but it annoys me that my character can’t sit on chairs.
I would agree with the list because, for me, GW2 is currently the game of 2013. I have dipped in and out of the game for a while, but have been playing it far more consistently since around March, when more of my community picked it up.
Many of us were long-term SWG players, up until the lights went off. We have been searching for a home that would provide something for all our playstyles and we are a mix of RPers, PvEers, Crafters and PvPers. Although I have to admit that there is little to encourage our Crafters to get their teeth into and its mostly the RPers that are here.
GW2 doesn’t provide everything that we need to keep us all together, but it’s provided more in what we are looking for in comparison to TSW, which is our other game. We are all mature players, have careers, families and social lives, so we don’t all have the time to commit to a game that demands constant logging in and grinding. GW2 currently fits the play style of the majority of us.
Will GW2 still be the game of the year for me by December? Its hard to say. If there are guild halls and personal housing which are both freely decoratable by then, it is a distinct possibility.
In the meantime, I’m enjoying the game greatly and that is all that counts, in my opinion.
All of the things everyone above has listed is WHY I play Guild Wars 2. Because in games where that’s the norm, I don’t end up staying.
Yep, the farmers and end game progression people are definitely unhappy, and they’re not shy to say so. Okay.
That doesn’t make Guild Wars 2 a bad game. That makes Guild Wars 2 a good game for some people. The very things you detest are the very things that I look forward too.
Take the complaints about bashing pinatas.
If you go and bash every single pinata to get an achievement all at once, it’s boring as hell. If you bash some pinatas every single time you go to LA within the time limit of the festival, you’ll probably get the achievment for it without grinding.
You could stand and farm projectors on day one when everyone was doing it, or just sort of roam around and get them WHILE playing. You don’t have to farm these things. Most of them you’ll get.
I get it. You want to sit in Orr and run the same event chains over and over. And I’m sad that you can’t do it. I’m not saying that in just either. I wish you could play that way…but that you can’t doesn’t make Guild Wars 2 a bad game. It makes it a game unsuited to your play style.
Where as Rift and WoW are totally unsuited to mine.
I agree. GW2 is perfect my play style.
Just give me guild halls and personal housing that I can decorate with game items and I will play this beautiful game for years.
As an RPer, I’m always trying to be creative for ’realistic’ outfits, wintery clothes for the Shiverpeaks, something more lightweight for warmer climes, etc. I will mix and match armour pieces to try and look a little different.
This means I carry around several pieces of armour and have to take several minutes trying to recall what when with which and then I often have to redye items.
Wardrobe slots, either GW1 or LotRO style, would make a huge difference and I’d happily pay 400 gems for extra wardrobe slots. I’d pay the same for wardrobe storage too.
The request for this got my support and the option has made life so much easier! Thank you, Arenanet!
i refer to this guide:
http://dulfy.net/2013/01/29/gw2-daily-achievements-guide/
for those kill veterans in xxx places dailies.and i prefer to do dailies on low level characters to level up them.
5% per daily done and total of 30% per 5 dailies done is nice exp for them.
I’ve found this guide invaluable too. I start off with looking for daily activities that would fit in with where I’m levelling, then skipped to places that will complete them.
Usually do them over breakfast and we have a little Breakfast Club, in the guild, of those of us who log in before work and start on the dailies.
It would be very naive to assume that Arenanet and NCSoft aren’t working on a new game. It’s what they do and every company has to look to the future and the next big money earner.
It would be wonderful if some of that art work is for GW2 and it may well be, but I would be more surprised if there wasn’t a new game in the offing.
I bet on two races and thoroughly enjoyed it, but no more for me. I agree, it is too expensive. Money is hard to come by in this game.
If you are a casual player (in the best sense, in that you have a full RL and limited gaming time) then GW2 is the ideal game for you.
I suggest that you look out for a guild that is active when you are, doesn’t make demands for attendance for dungeons, gear or build and understands that RL comes first. You won’t look back!
I like the leggings for the light armour set, the skirt is a nice length, but too low on the hips. I will be trying out various chest pieces to see which reduce that gap the best.
As an RPer, I’m always looking for armour that looks more like ’normal’ clothing. So I appreciate the look of the longer skirt.
Neverwinter was designed to be on consoles as well as the PC. Console players have seperate servers, but the UI is used on all platforms and it’s appalling.
I’d looked forward to NW with some eagerness and was very disappointed to find that the UI totally ruined the game for me. I logged in for early access, created my character, cleared the tutorial and haven’t been back since.
I now believe that a game should be clearly designed, and designed well, for a particular platform. Trying to be a cross-platform seems to make a game that is neither one thing or the other.
A warm ’thank you’ from me too. I love the decorations in Lions Arch and the dragon projections are amazing!
Really impressive graphics and I’m looking forward to seeing the fireworks.
The staff is very pretty!
I’m hoping for something really awesome, in my opinion anyway, such as guild halls, or better still a whole guild district! An anniversary update that included that would keep me happy for another year!
The game definitely needs a lot more emotes. Even old gamess like SWG had dozens more emotes than GW2 has.
I support any suggestions that would increase the amount of emotes in GW2.
OP gets my first +1
Good luck and I hope you achieve your goal soon.
Seaverse [SEA]
Are you a Roleplayer who also PvEs and looking for adventure across Tyria? Want to be part of something that could change the lore/history of a community? Join us in our quest across the world that will create stories, songs and legends told and sung through the taverns of Kryta, the Shiverpeaks, Maguuma and Ascalon! All races welcome!
Seaverse has had a presence on Piken Square since launch, but became our official online home at the beginning of 2013. Formed in 2005 in SWG (Chimaera), we have grown to become a community which has been consistently lead by the same leader since it’s formation.
Seaverse is a mix of both veteran and new players to the MMO genre and we are a friendly and social guild. We run regular RP plots as well as PVE events such as dungeons and you will find people willing to help with quests too. We currently have an age limit of 18+.
Roleplay is our main focus, though, and we do not consider ourselves raiders or hardcore PvPers, we set no requirements on gear or profession. Our aim is to provide an enjoyable and helpful online environment and to help promote our community spirit.
There are active story arcs and more to come, based around the lore of the world of Tyria. We aim to be as inclusive as possible and allow new RPers to join in easily, with their own introductory event. Story arcs are not scripted and we have our own games masters to assist members in getting involved and to develop their characters. We are not in character when questing.
We are the Seaverse [SEA]. The name is a contraction of SEA (our guild tag from SW:G) and universe. It represents the lore we create in our RP and history as a community. Every single member can contribute and a find a place in our story.
We understand that real life has it’s commitments. If you can represent us for 75% of your online time and play for a minimum of two evenings a week, then we are the guild for you!
The guild leader is Caery Royce and we welcome new members.

I’d also love to have a Southsun tropical bird, a rabbit, in fact I would love to be able to charm every creature in the game!
Although currently a small presence, we are active, friendly and welcoming to fellow RPers.
We are on Piken Square, but are an EU guild. You don’t mention your time zone, so we may not be suitable. Links are in my sig if you wish to find out more.
Occasionally when I quickly switch targets and cast something, the last target will still be the focus target for that one attack. To be clear, I’m talking about auto attacking a mob (A), then pressing tab (or click) followed by something like pressing 2 (which interrupts auto attack), then 3 (which is queued after 2), where 2 will hit mob A and 3 will hit mob B, even though mob B was the selected target when originally pressing 2. Could be a bug, maybe a feature (ie, to catch accidental miss-targets) or perhaps there’s a small lag behind the interface when switching targets.
I am not 100% certain, but try disabling the check box in the image below and see if that alleviates the problem at all.
Disabling that check box doesn’t help, just been trying it. For those of us who use the mouse for movement, we really need to be able to disable rmb for targeting.
We are always looking for new members who are in EU time zones.
I prefer the big red ring, not that my dodging skills have improved any, but at least I know now it was an AOE that killed me!
Only recently introduced to Angry Joe, but his reviews are spot on.
As a guild leader, I agree with him.
What is a salma?
I personally find The Secret World way more RP friendly, guildwars 2 is too locked out of things.
Salma is the personal home district in Divinity’s Reach
I find exactly the opposite. TSW has too few open buildings, the world is too small and the cash shop is terrible!
Each to her/his own, I suppose
I think the last statement was that they were working on them and that they wanted them to be awesome.
I love the OP’s suggestion, it would be even better if we can choose which area to have an instance in. I’d also like to be able to have a harbour area and ship within the instance.
If nothing else, it would be a great gesture from Arenanet to at least allow all guild members to access the same instance. It would be a good stop-gap until guild halls are added.
Ehh.. decent enough. But then what about cross-guild RP?
Not ideal, I know, but better than nothing at all. I have no idea of how coding works, but being able to invite as many and any people as you like, to your instance, could be a solution.
As a long-standing RPer across several games, I was thrilled to find so many open areas in GW2 with so much RP going on. I would love to see more, such as an inn in Claypool.
I think game devs often underestimate how devoted RPers can become to a game; how much we’ll spend on the right fluff (wearing armour skins of all classes in wardrobe slots, buying items for RP use etc); how they can breath life into an area, as well just keeping the game active by living out their stories and characters’ lives.
Allowing us to invite whoever we want to our home district would greatly enhance our enjoyment. I’d pay a fair bit of RL cash for an instanced home fort and ship too, if I could invite friends and guild to it, without a character limit.
I realise that group size is fixed, due to the combat AI, but need this (or even grouping) apply to ’social’ areas?
I agree that a return to an uninstanced Salma would be preferably, but perhaps as a workable alternative, Anet could allow us to invite as many people to the instance as we wished?
With the lack of guild halls, I’d love to be able to invite my guild to my instance of Salma for meetings and guild RP.
If nothing else, it would be a great gesture from Arenanet to at least allow all guild members to access the same instance. It would be a good stop-gap until guild halls are added.
What I would love is to be able to have the choice out of the major hubs, such as DR, LA or Hoelbrak, for a guild hall.
I like the idea of a homestead, or perhaps an area like Garenhoff, where we could have our own ship too.
False, from my point of view.
Piken Square is busy and I’m always running into people in the low level areas when on my alts.

Personally, I can think of nothing better as an anniversary present than guild halls, sitting in chairs and a greater variety of emotes.
Failing that, I like the token idea.
Support, Encouragement, Advancement
SEA have been on Piken Square since launch. Formed in 2005 in SWG (Chimaera), we have grown to become a community across several games, notably GW2, STO and TSW. The community has been consistently lead by the same leader since it’s formation.
SEA is a mix of both veteran and new players to the MMO genre and we are loyal, lively and active in both OOC and RP communities. We run regular RP plots as well as PVE events such as dungeons and you will find people willing to help with quests too. We currently have an age limit of 21+.
Roleplay is our main focus, though, and we do not consider ourselves raiders or hardcore PvPers. Our aim in all games is to provide a friendly and helpful online environment and to help promote community spirit.
For RPers, there are active story arcs and more to come, based around the canon/lore of the games in which we are involved. Each game has it’s own theme, but the aim is to be as inclusive as possible and allowing members who are not necessarily RPers to join in. Story arcs are not scripted and we have our own games masters to assist members in getting involved and to develop their characters. We are not in character when questing.
In Guild Wars 2 our guild name is Sea of Sorrows Desperadoes. The leaders are Caery Royce and Anshra.

No, in regards to how I like to play a game.
Games should be fun and continually grinding for more and more armour and weapon types is not my idea of fun.
It’s just an excuse for developers to avoid adding new content and from what I’ve seen of GW2 since my return, is that Arenanet are happy to add content and rotate it by making content temporary. That seems a good mechanic to prevent players getting bored too quickly.
Housing. The system in SWG was awesome. It was largely ported over to EQ2 and remains the best system I’ve come across. All items were positionable across all axis and this meant that players spent hours creating amazing interiors. I loved being an Architect and being able to craft houses and furniture to put in it.
Edit: I would love to be able to live in Lions Arch and not be restricted by race.
Vendors. Being able to craft items and sell them on your own vendor gave a lot of enjoyment to dedicated crafters, as did:
Crafter names on crafted items. This builds the reputation of good crafters who strived to produce the best items possible.
Appearance/Town/Wardrobe Clothes. I never understand how games with cash shops so badly misjudge this potentially huge market. Ideally, I’d like to be able to craft clothing that all players could wear, but I’d also happily pay for clothes I want to put on my characters. Being able to wear clothes that are an overlay to our combat gear would be a huge step in the right direction. Both SWG and LotRO had good appearance/wardrobe systems. Town clothes are pretty useless and far more variety is needed, less gimmicky stuff too. Better still, remove the restrictions on armour appearances and allow them to be skinnable across all classes.
/sit command. I want my characters to sit on chairs, benches, sofas, etc, properly. There are so many potentially useable chairs, it’s a shame they are not accessible. STO has seen this system being rolled out with new content and older content is receiving a pass to add the feature. It really aids immersion.
Emotes. So many emotes are missing that would really add to the atmosphere, especially when RPing. MxO and SWG had really lengthy lists of emotes.
