So the idea of this specialist is to give thief even more options because i love options <3
Thief will unlock a new F3 skill allowing the thief to choose from array of weapons to create a new F3 weapon set.
Skill 1 Sword Skill 3 Pistol Skill 5 Most likely Rifle (specialist)
skill 2 Dagger Skill 4 Short bow
Now that you have sub window open of the F3 you be allow to pick 2 of the weapon (or 1 if it 2 handed weapon) an it become your F3 move with limited number of stack we will say 10 charges. once all stack are gone you can reuse F3 after CD is gone.
So if you wanted say two daggers you go Skill 2 twice an your F3 is locked an it take you out of the window.

Utility 1 – Copy the current F3 weapon set you have on you placing it on the ground for allie to pick up, using up 10 your charges.
Utility 2 – Fire a pistol shot marking a target to take 20% con and physical damage more to just a thief.
Utility 3 – absorb all condition stacks turn them in to F3 charges.

- 1% dmg for every charge you have on F3 well using F3

- Marked target now effect allies.(utility 2)
- Gain extra 10 charges on F3 skill.

needle trap is amazing i run it in 70% of my builds
shadow trap could be strong but it CD is to high and shadow return should be instant on destorying trap, to be worth looking at.
ambush trap sucks so does tripwire.
This bit offtopic but path of exile has this mech where traps could have stack able charges of the skill on there own ICD.
I would love to see this mech places on Lighting Flash allowing Ele to become more Mobile.
by stack able charges i mean start on CD take 40s to get off CD then take another 40s get second one off CD.
i think spamming vault is how you play staff to be honest it basically a melee short bow.
short bow is strong what make it seem weak is thief ability to not effectively combo with it finishers. is same as staff problem.
Yeah you can say you get poison field combo with it but poison duration been nerf to the ground even if you run a 100% posion dur. only changing a 2 second posion to 4 second. honestly i think anet should think about buffing poison on physical projectile finisher to 4 seconds base line.
but second if combo a con thief with Mesmer you get 3 confusion 5s(10s if spec in to dur) on every auto pretty sick.

Same problem as GW1, it would be nice if elite skills were more elite. many are just garbage and more are no better than a regular utility.
The GW2 elite should have been an Elite slot, which slightly alters a utility skill placed in it to an elite utility.
Every utility can be placed in that slot. Some might get a mechanical change (Glyph of lesser elemental becomes Glyph of greater elemental) or number adjustment.
as cool as that sounds it would be very hard for anet to balance it an put in the time to create changes to over 120+ skills
to play S/D now you basically just need air sigil
Yeah i do not see how it could break the game in any way to be honest but it give a lot more build options.
Any good Engie could design a dozen op builds by using an utility intead of an elite. Just think on a 4 kit build, or an HGH with 1 extra low CD elixir, or simply your classic burst grenadier build, plus an extra stun breaker. Or any decent build, with a slot only for slick shoes.
Elites are ok, right now… but their CD make them less useful than a utility skill.
i am glad you can see a lot of stuff you could do with engi that main idea of this change.
a lot of kit swapping means there easy set up for intruping stunlocking engi.
with buff to nerco elixir can just all be corrupted
grenade are classed as ranged attack with all buff in reflect / dome in the game now i could see it being much less effective overall then it was in past.
i think it be really cool just to see what you could do with the game i mean my fav aspect of game is build design.
i do not think elites are bad. i just think in term of build design having a very limited choice of options for elites heavily factor overall builds you can run. most build your some time just lacking that con removal or that stun breaker or just that leap you need to really complete the build.
having 2 of same skill would be OP like think of a Mesmer that could in theory have 3 portal up

i would love to see anet change PvE Hero window so we can unlock Rune or Sigil set(once we have found it once) that become Account bound(such as unlocked rewards from Achivements) at cost of x amount of Spirit shards such as like 50 pre rune set unlock.
so the way it would work is say you found"runes of the scholar" in the hero window it pop up as now buy able for 50 spirit shards. after that you could equip as many of that rune set as you want.

i think only part make short bow awkward is random delay you get on disabling shot. it similar to water field on engi turret.

At least it is a skill that consumes initiative. If it is too spammable, up its initiative cost. IMO the point of the thief is to manage its resources rather than chain CDs like other classes. What it should never be is a class that delivers most of its damage without any init cost.
i do not know maybe i am a bad thief but i never use auto attack.
if we want to buff hidden killer i would love it to rip boons or maybe even corrupt them.

i was just practicing against my guildie burn warrior build i found spacing yourself around 300 range is very helpful make it easy to dodge the burns you need to heavily rely on landing your steal for reflecting sword burst. you will not win simply threw your dodge bar alone you need some weapon set that has evaing on it to prolong fight long enough roughly around 30s burn warrior start to run out of utility for a about 10 seconds where you start to really burst him.
i can link you the build i was beating him with. i warn you i was not gear out properly as you will see on weapons, or even running food to be effective.
bound is fine it probably the worst of the 3 grand master to be honest. but that leap finisher make a lot of builds. its cool that a little buff to d/p but it make p/p an offer a lot of def to s/p
i prefer trapper for the vul and might it better global support then having selfish trait line.

Yeah it can be tricky when your doing 1vx fights but if i doing 1v1 fights i probably agree with you interm of rune set but i was thinking of using this to zerg bust for lols

you need withdraw for some form of basic con removal.
Reason i running rune of the guardian is it has no internal CD can be applied at any range. i been testing it around 3 – 8 burn on block vs most classes. then when you start to add more classes trying to fight thief at once i spiking over 15 stacks across 3 people.
an i agree with you on weakening strike after testing it for awhile i did change it to that.

i tested it on release of Hots.
i have been playing a lot of dwarf stance lately i noticed the 1 second CD on vengeful hammers to be amazing at toggling on an off making it feel like i am really interacting with upkeep system.
so i thinking it be amazing if i could have Protective solace on 1 second CD toggle it on an off.
i also think it be really cool if tablet had like a static buff that allies with in say 240 range of it gain 10% hp buff for 10 seconds. have it pulse every 5.
i use it as a damage skill it basically 2 free backstab you just run int sigil with it free crits

Big thing to remember when using it is if you know your going to miss you can always cancel the cast bar an restart it instantly to make it more reliable of hitting. so if they set up a dodge you just set timer to land on end of dodge free win on scrub

if we are talking trait line i say this game is balanced more around P/D then anything else but i do not agree with the topic of nerfing D/P for no other reason then. i do not like how traits line up with it ^^.
An D/P only became mainstream because of blind mech change anet made. if that blind mech change was never done D/P would still be garbage teir.

scorpion wire pathing work as intended to how all ranged attack work in the game. if you studder step it, the game get confuses of the targeting shooting it wrong way i personally abuse this all the time in pvp. the way anet fix that for guardian sept an long bow ranger was making there skill travel at a faster rate.
Rune of the trapper only trigger on laying a trap if the trap pulses it wont stack stealth timer.
Utility changes
-Venom’s becoming a static buff utility allowing the thief to keep 1 venom on at all times. (not elite)
-Needle trap becoming a pulsing aoe.
-Scorpion wire become a static buff allowing you to pull on command on x duration unless they walk out of x range.
-Reflexive Strike should be 50% faster.
Heal skill changes
Withdraw CD to 14 seconds
Hide in shadow be lower to 25 seconds.
Signet of malice scale better with healing power from a .05 to .1
Trait changes
Shadow art
- Shadow embrace should be changed to 2 seconds interval.
- Meld With shadow should be raises to 2 seconds stealth.
-Cloaked in shadow should trade place with Resilience of shadows.
Venomous Aura Allow you have 2 active venom will pulse to allies every 20 seconds for 5 second buff.

How about this. for every boon on you dodge refund 3% endurance. as a replacement grand master.
i agree with you what they tried to do with acrobatic line was not a good call on anet part.
But still even if we get back the dodge we lost wont change where thief is at. thief need a way to fight with out having to run away all the time.
the way design the acrobatic line was so thief could have a better chance of fighting on point. giving them more way to clear condition, a source of stability, a new crowd control move.
Thief’s do not need more dodge. They need a way to sustain when they run out of dodge with out having to waste utility by running away resetting the fight.

this is what i would run an i will explain why.
First tripwire kinda gimmicky. i replace it with Signet agility Why? it gives you con clear 1.5 dodge way to enter stealth allowing you to use tactical strike to get your Pulmonary Impact off.
i replace shadow refuge with Shadow step. you have enough stealth on this build that you can pick up some def from signet of agility.
i removed Improvisation to have Executioner allowing your build to have higher overall burst. you do not have enough type of skill to really get full effect of improvisation.
i changed your Sigil from Cruelty to bloodlust to scale Pulmonary impact dps.
i also changed . sigil of rage for sigil of blood. more healing more dmg worth having.
that just my thoughts gl on your build

i would love to see if Dust Strike became 1×3 pulse smoke field for 1 second allowing thief to combo out. Weakening change or vault as a combo field.
Weakening charge have 1/2 to input to get bonus from Dust strike
Vault have 1/4 of a second to input to get bonus from dust strike
Also get combo from dodge grand master. overall making staff much more overall flow better.
