Look I’m happy to have some quest for a legendary but please… Can we look at some of them? Like the one at Owl’s Abattoir in Snowden Drifts. I just waited here for a while for the event to start (which is just poor gameplay anyway, in fact it is just waiting). The event starts and the mobs spawn so far away from the event. I was like okay I’m ready lets g….. oh its over.. some dude a mile away laid down DH traps with full zerker. Melted it in 3 seconds and didn’t let the 3 other people waiting even get a hit in. So here I am waiting again in frustration. Camping the actual spawn about 2000 range away from the event.
This isn’t like the original game launch policy that promoted a healthy community. It promotes frustration between players. I would rather have seen no one there.
Thief
And people wonder why I use trickster and withdraw + another trick/stun breaker. You won’t die from this if you have reliable condi clears.
You see the condi on you. Get rid of it.

Shaman’s Rookery today in Wayfarer Foothills. Going for Nevermore. Tier 3 precursor crafting is going to be blinding with excitement :p
Tears of Itlacol is as well. I am guessing every mini dungeon has the problem. This one is particularly bad because I can not see the pattern to solve the puzzle. I am stuck on precursor progression.

Well this forum feedback was educational. We laughed, we cried, we waited until the full patch notes without complaining. Oh wait.

The original point of having this finisher be limited was to (unless I’m wrong) distinguish between seasonal placement. Let the new winners of future tournaments show it off. Well since that has and will continue to be off the table for the foreseeable future shouldn’t we get to keep our earned finishers? Every other tournament (pvp) in the game has a trophy finisher. It was well earned. And it is permanent.
I have 246 uses left on my golden. I have used it 4 times and I do not want to use it. It just sits there. It is kinda lame. For all I know there will never be an opportunity to earn them ever again. So in theory this finisher is the only one in the game that could go extinct.

Hey all I’m out of town and away from my PC. I saw the patch notes and was wondering if the new teleport camera feature is preferable to the old style. I’m glad Anet added the option to toggle it. I play thief and port in combat quite often. Would like to hear your opinions.

I would love to buy the Avian minis.
Right? Anet let me give you gems! :p

Are they still obtainable from the Black Lion Chests? My understanding was they were removed in the April 19th patch and replaced by the claim tickets. I haven’t had one since that patch and they used to be pretty common (for me anyway).
The rewards within the Black Lion Chest have been refreshed.
Instant Repair Canisters have been removed.
Boxes o’ Fun have been removed.
Mystery Tonics that aren’t endless have been removed.
Increased the amount of Revive Orbs awarded to 2.
Rare stand-alone miniatures have been removed and replaced with a new Black Lion Miniature Claim Ticket containing new miniatures to choose from.
The current exclusive dye packs have been swapped out for Winter Chimes, the Toxic Dye Kit, the Metallurgic Dye Kit, Taimi’s Dye Kit, and the Mad King Dye Kit.
All common individual combat boosters have been combined into a single Enchanted Combat Boost that allows players to choose their combat boost.
Drop rates of Black Lion Claim Ticket Scraps have been slightly increased.
The Endless Repair Canister item has been added as a very rare reward.
Zodiac, Chaos, and Balthazar weapon skins have been added as very rare rewards. But yeah I agree it’d be nice if those minis were tradeable. My Norn Necro looks awesome with the raven mini and mail carrier alongside Nevermore.
My apologizes I misunderstood. I am not sure if it is able to drop at all at this time.

That would be the case for quite a few of the minis but the avian 3 pack ones are unobtainable with the tickets.
However you still can get lucky and acquire them through black lion chests as a direct singular drop.
Thief
I agree, I’ve got it but I know a lot of people who want it and keep hoping it will come back.
Alternatively maybe they could make them tradable so people who have bad luck with keys can buy them from people who get mini tickets they don’t want.
Yeah my friend just showed me that she has one that she would give me if she could. That would be nice.

With the best holiday ever coming up I thought I would just put this idea out there hint hint wink wink.
I sure wouldn’t mind a return of the avian 3 pack to purchase. I would imagine the people with nevermore wouldn’t complain. In fact I would imagine that it would sell pretty well. Until then I am on that black lion key grind with not much luck. It sure would be nice to see one of those sweet birds pop up wink wink.

So I have a question on my own thief forum about one skill I am wondering about (bound) but now I am just curious and want to cast a wider net. I can’t find this information on the wiki or anywhere really. Does anyone know where I can find a list of skills that are considered “not moving” such as heart seeker for thief or rush for warrior that do not proc seaweed salad bonuses? It may look like a movement skill but if you are not actively using WASD or whatever your movement is bound to…. no +10% damage for you.
I appreciate the help

I actually do not know if the attack from bounding dodger is a self root that would not proc seaweed salad or something like that. My guess would be yes but I do not know. Anyone have a strait up answer?
Thief
Its just normal to not be able to use your skills in SMC when 3 servers are fighting. Always has been.I would be lying if I said it was a great time. Can it please not be the norm any more?
Thief
Also never underestimate how deadly shortbow can be. Surprise shot can be a death sentence if your group is chasing them or they have over extended to you. Same with that cripple on 3. Soft cc makes the hammer train stay away. Cluster bomb is crazy damage at your feet too. Use in combination with steal or a port for slippery targets. Poison downs with gas as often as possible in big fights

For build I like mauraders armor, wep, amulet, with zerker trinkets. DA/Trick/DD with pack runes is my personal pref for my bounding dodger build. I’ve played every trait line combo with D/P and run several different types of runes and sigils. Run what your personal pref is. I like trickster in trickery. Some people don’t. I like the condi clear and reduced cooldown for tricks. Shadowstep is a must except for physical skill builds. I love agility signet for DareDevil. I love bassy venom with the group change for wvw. Have fun dude. Experiment with it
Right now I’m experimenting with infiltratior’s signet as my third and enjoying it. I like my utilities to have offensive and defensive options for when I need it.
Thief

Long time D/p damage here. Use your group as a defense. If you are low on cooldowns or you know damage is coming your way get behind or into your people. Use ports. Stun breaks and all that. Use your group offensively as well. Think of it as extra stealth. It’s hard to target you in the group. Especially if you are re stealthing to drop target. Give the group some shortbow blast stealth often while you’re at it. This freaks your enemy out. Get inside their head. Time attacks correctly and with surprise.
Gl friend. If you have any questions I’m free to answer whatever.

Jokes aside, but this could actually work. Overwatch’s Payload is well-done escort mode – You can’t harm the escorted thing nor heal it/affect in any way, it moves on pre-set line, it’s extremaly simple and provides “action point”.
It’ll be a lot more difficult to implement in GW2 because it’s not a moba. That said it’s still possible. It’s whether or not Anet wants to undertake the workload for another gamemode.
I rather have a best of 3 TDM of 2v2 or 3v3. Time limit 5m per round while measuring the lowest health amongst players to determine the round’s victory. #winning
I agree completely. Arena 2v2 and 3v3s should have been in the game a long time ago. More game types. Thats all I want.

Right? Its such a simple concept that anyone can pick it up and learn it quickly. Its not as difficult as GW2 to know what is happening if you have never played before. That Twitch view count is off the charts for how long the game has been out. Its crazy how its maintaining popularity.
Its a simple game mode but there are a ton of little things to learn. It has a low skill floor but a high skill ceiling and I love that. If GW2 pvp could get that popular by having fun modes to play I would be so happy.
Thief
This is from the overwatch wiki. They call it Escort.
“Escort has two teams, the attacking team and the defending team. Each team is assigned one of the roles at random at the start of the match, and once the round is complete, the two teams swap roles.
At the start of each round, the defending team get some time to enter the main area and set up defenses before the attacking team are allowed out of their spawn area.
The central mechanic of Escort is a special object (the payload) which the attacking team aims to progress across the map toward an end point. This is achieved through keeping attacking heroes within range of the payload."
I enjoy it a fair amount. That is the central mechanic. There are other important details on how the matches play out such as reaching checkpoints being a part of your score.
I like how their map design lets players go through the map from one end to another. It feels like smart map design in their case as you play through it which is nice.
Other maps are similar with the attacking team capturing point A (if able) then moving to point B. Both types use many different types of heroes (classes) that promote several types of play throughout the game.

Hey everyone. This has probably been said before but I would seriously get into a mode like this in GW2. Like many of you I have been playing a ton of Overwatch and I don’t see any glaring reasons why it couldn’t work here. Thoughts?
Thief
Honestly I’m having difficulty understanding why this has been missing from the game since launch. I would spend the majority of my game time in this mode
Thief
This may or may not be a relatable thought but I wish there was the kind of build diversity you see in wvw. That alone has made me play less pvp and more wvw. Being surprised and fighting something different fairly often. It’s nice and I wish the same for pvp

At this point it’s highly unlikely an account roll back could help. It’s basically the same as using System Restore in Windows – it returns your account to the last time Anet created a backup of it. So you would have to have contacted them relatively soon after you deleted the character to be able to get them back.
But it would also mean losing everything you did after that point. All the items and gold you got, any characters you made and/or levelled, anything you unlocked…
For that reason and others they will only roll back accounts that have been hacked and they will only do it once per account.
But I assume you were told all that when you sent in a ticket.
Honestly I wouldn’t worry about it. There’s sometimes some nice things in the birthday gifts but it’s never going to be things that give any major advantage or that you’ll be really missing out if you don’t have. And you’ll get them eventually. Even having deleted your first character you’re still way ahead of a lot of people who started later than you.
Correct. If anyone out there was wondering… This is what is required on an account rollback. My intent was to share the issue. Thank you for explaining that.
Thief
So the OP wants something change because they feel they are missing out, buy feel they are entitled to something, so it must change for everyone just so they are not left out.
I’m going to go right ahead and say, No. You made the mistake, you alone are at fault, you have to live with it.
As the Goblin King once said, “It’s not fair, you keep saying it, but I wonder what your basis for comparison is.”
Wow. someone assumes quite a bit of me. Here is my response. No I don’t feel entitled and felt that I expressed that I do not intend to receive anything. Who hurt you?

Hello everyone. I go by Pancakes. I like to play guild wars 2. Its my favorite game. I have played since the pre launch beta and pre ordered my copy of the game. I have (hold on checking /age)…. 1414 days played on my account. I have my celebration hat and all that. yada yada you get it. Here is my problem :p
So I did something really stupid before it was announced that our characters would have their first birthday’s. My first toon on launch day I made was my male sylvari thief. I really fell in love with thief more than anything else but I wanted a human. I should have just had 2 thieves because now I have 3 fully leveled and geared thieves (including another sylvari). Now you can probably guess what I did back during that first year. I did the unthinkable. I DELETED MY FIRST CHARACTER. I was a fool! A few months down the road we get our character birthdays. My new main was only 3 months old. I missed out and was really bummed out.
I have sent out tickets before but I haven’t posted on the forums. I doubt anything could be changed with the exception of an account rollback. I just wanted to share this. It really stinks that an award which contents have all been account wide that I would’ve had fell right through my hands. Its tied to a character that was in game and no longer exists.
I hope no one else pulled a me and enjoys their upcoming 4th year gifts. I just got my 3rd year last month. Not complaining about sweet free dyes! Have a great day whoever sat through and read this.

Use throw gunk on a single down body. Makes for a harder res.

I guess I’m in an odd boat with this one. I find that I beat most revs decisively. I just pressure like crazy with cc to back it up and I am rarely forced to go on the defensive. That usually does it. If they get the jump on me I just dodge a few times during their burst and go back to bursting. Don’t let them control the fight. You do.

whatever class I main takes the most skill, and whatever class counters me takes the least.
Last year I started a thread like this but I had one rule. No one was allowed to answer with their main class. It went pretty well. For those curious thief had 19 votes, next was engi with 15, then ele with 13 and so on. Small turnout that really only told me that forum users are a vocal minority, and all classes take different though prosseces to improve. I am really terrible at engi
Thief
Here is my build.
I do pick team in WvW. My jam was DA/CS/Trick back in the day. I had to make this build with compensations for losing no quarter because I loved the perma fury and ferocity increase. I like to play a bit more aggressive than the average thief. I am also convinced that stealth utility skills are not as worth it as they used to be. That is why I am using haste (could use bandit’s defense). I don’t need the extra stealth from blinding powder or the big hit me now target that is shadow refuge (also terrible to try to dodge inside the thing with any daredevil dodge. I do need the extra stun break and with trickster it is another condi clear from a trick. Every skill between 6-9 is a condi clear for me. I run improv over executioner for several reasons. The quickness along with the semi recent auto attack buff go wonderfully together. I have 12 seconds (if I wish) of quickness. This is from the utility and traited for through flanking strikes. This along with the pack runes allow me to have an extremely high amount of fury and crit chance. The time buffer with the extra steal ability and possible utility proc mean I don’t go on full cool down very often. I’m always able to do something. And I do a lot of damage in a very short amount of time. I don’t go for back-stabs. I can, the option is there…. but the main source of damage is through safe auto attacks, using well placed blinds and interrupts while maintaining an in their face play-style. I do really nice damage and I’m really slippery with short bow and unhindered combatant with signet. Short-bow also being wonderful for range, fast travel to res someone, and poision application for downs in enemy zerg.
Play how you want to play! Welcome to the class. Good luck and hope you have a great time.

Anyone else? Sure was a good amount of fun to pull off.
Thief
By my own experience as a rev, I believe that an average rev has the advantage against an average thief with both playing zerkers just because of the damage output that a zerker rev has against a zerker thief if the thief misses the opening. But unlike against most power matchups, against thief (and DH) you need to be a bit more cautious.
My tricks are pretty simple: using Staff 3 and Shield 5 when he gonna open on you (both skills last for a while, if you know the timing on the stealth you can predict with some good degree of certain when the thief is about to open you) so you can block/blind the opener and he will be revealed by the timer.
Using sword 2 to hit them in stealth is super strong, because it tracks the enemy position in stealth (so you can cleave or predict an opening) and many thieves don’t dodge while out of melee range and in stealth. They just forget about it.
And last, bursting while he’s CC’d (what is pretty basic against everyone) otherwise he will just kite, disengage and reset. It’s cool to do stuff like a hard CC and Unrelenting Assault afterwards, because you might follow him if he’s slow and tries to stunbreak with Shadow Step to his next position. One well placed Staff 5 can kit for 2/3 of his HP too.In the end, dodge the steal item, don’t let them kite you using Shiro dash and CCs, don’t let them open on you, remember to use Shield 4 and Staff 4 while he’s chilling on stealth without pressuring you and you have nothing to do, and just play super aggressive
Great points man. This helps me out too because I am learning rev atm.
I can not stress your last point enough. Guys. DODGE that steal item. It is really overtuned honestly. I run improv as well so I get two. Those things crit for minimum 4k on a zerker rev.
Manage your energy pool carefully and be sure to have stunbreaks ready.
Thief
Hey guys. I’m pancakes and I play thief in wvw and dabble in pvp sometimes. I play d/p DA/Trick/DD with mauraders, flanking strikes, trickster, and unhindered combatant. I can’t help notice that most revenants I encounter have a difficult time sustaining a high burst. I just see a rev and assume it’s going to go down. What are some of your opinions on this? Is it a difficult or easy matchup for you? If it is easy maybe we can work together to help some Revs out. Maybe share some tips and tricks. Thanks all!

Staff Thief…had more than enough survivability in Season 1’s meta.
We playing the same game?
If I remember correctly that last match he was in with Spoookie during S1 he did get unanimous mvp with staff. It was fun to watch. I can’t play staff well. It’s so different from the usual d/p playstyle. But there is video proof out there that it is viable in high tier play. It was great.

We should remove the HOT mastery system or story after 19 days so people don’t get bored with it. Honestly guys this train of thought goes both ways. I want to tell people that want to get into an MMO that this one is brimming with content. That conversation would absolutely include SAB… But it doesn’t and it can’t. Wish it could bring in new players but poof, It’s gone as soon as it got here…. Never to show its head in the forefront of game press.
*Please note that I fully intended to compare those specific peaces of content. I have received as much quality gameplay if not much more in the case of the HOT story with SAB.

Just the right amount of open spaces and well designed chokes. Honestly wish the desert BLs were more desert like above the fire keep and with a similar shape, size, and layout of the alpine BLs. I am just so excited to feel back at home in alpine. Tell ya something I wish the game would do though. Is have the desert BL (shaped like I mentioned above), the alpine BL, and a third new BL so that there wouldn’t be any copies. I am so excited for those field, keep, and Garry fights though! I can’t wait!

Ding ding ding! You are correct about it all @OP. I have used haste since the AA buff in wvw, Pvp, and pve to much surprise and success.. It works wonders with flanking strikes + trickster (d/p) and if I need more fury I use pack runes. The synergy is insane. It’s great for serious spike damage and it also has the option for stun break and trained for a condi clear. This utility has serious options that come with it. I take it over blinding powder which is overrated imo given the current state of the strong counters to strath atm such as cc, AOE, reveal abilities, and general knowledge of how to counter it have increased. Haste is one of the most underrated skills for thief imho.
Thief
Oh man the nostalgia. My favorite was glitching into SOR citadel with a full 50+ Zerg of guildies. Everything in there, players and NPCs are invuln and you will eventually die if you are an enemy. Our commander said in ts, “50 gold to whoever lives the longest”! So many laughs.

Try stealing from one class and then switch to another. That random ability is hard to predict and counter.

I actually like it, lol.
It can be great when timed with an Immobilize from either Shortbow stealth skill or by timing it with a Panic Strike proc. It’s also rather good for downed pressure.
That said, I’d gladly take the stolen skill that Vaxjani suggested. Throw Gear would be really nice indeed…
I agree completely especially with the downed pressure.

I think if WvW gives better rewards it would be filled of leechers and useless player filling slots that could be used by people who really enjoy the massive pvp.
I think this is an extremely valid concern. Some players would only be there for rewards or worse could manipulate matches in order to gain maximum rewards while simultaneously causing the server to tank.
It would take careful consideration and planning/implementation of features to prevent this. It would be difficult.
Wonder if PVE feel the same about wvw ppl in pve maps lol
This is hilarious! It has to be true. I’m so bad at pve lol.
Everyone you have some experienced and informative responses to this topic. I’m not in the boat that is focused mainly on rewards being the most important thing as apposed to changing other aspects of the game type so I do take into consideration the argument that to many people this aspect is less important than others.
That being said I think you guys have a some great ideas.
Thief
We had a discussion about WvW rewards about a month ago.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/wuv/Increase-rewards-for-WvW/first#post5934548
Thanks for linking it Lord. I read the whole thing. I like the ideas of rewarding players for creating the content like commanders and people that plan out things to do. I think this could be utilized even more than it is now through the wvw guild missions.
I also like the other ideas in the thread on bringing rewards to achievements and a sPvP like track reward system.
Also I see you had people saying they are concerned about higher rewards bringing uncaring players. As I said before in my own thread ANET would have to be extremely careful when implementing higher rewards to not encourage bad playing or match manipulation.
