Yes, ignore someone because their opinions differ from yours. That’s totally the way to foster discussions. Check Please!

I have no problem with disagreements. What I have a problem with is assumptions in what I know or don’t know. I really don’t care for someone acting like I’m an idiot and that I don’t understand the topic I’m discussing. I don’t discuss a subject without knowing something about it. If I don’t know something about a subject then I just watch, listen, learn and research. I was hoping for a constructive discussion not a browbeating.

Actually Na, could you imagine how OP Burn builds would be if burning acted like the fire DoT in Sorrow’s Embrace? God… that would be terrifying in WvW…. fail to cleanse everyone quick enough, the burning just spreads to everyone again….

If they changed burning, I would love to watch the first week of WvW videos, since most people don’t read patch notes.

I forgot the example of how RL doesn’t match game reality that never makes any “sense” unless you’re a game designer: a foe with 0.0001% health does the same damage as one with 100%. In RL, you might get in a Hail Mary with your dying gasp, but it won’t save you; in games, you can get a full hit (which in GW2 is) enough to rally you if you went down. It’s completely “unrealistic” — it’s just a lot more fun (well, except when you get wiped by a foe who should have gone down first but was “obstructed” by a 1 cm root at your foot).

In the future I’ll assume that you don’t like anything I post or comment on since you’re replies usually take odds with it so I’ll skip over your replies. Mental filter engaged.

1: Then why dont my aoes damage someone on my block list? They’re MY enemy, so why isnt it working? Why cant I kill them?
2: He’s talking about things afflicted with the burning condition. It’s illogical to think that you can stand close enough to shave an enemy while they’re a living torch and not be harmed by the fire.
3: Not what he’s talking about either. A sky diver cant instantaneously about face while falling at speed OR with a deployed parachute/glider.

I fully understand what he is saying and I’m saying I’m ok with more realistic physics. I also fully understand it’s a “fantasy” game. I’m just saying some things could be done better like make high ground be more of an advantage and get rid of the invisible walls. Invisible walls is just a quick and sloppy way of blocking players. Some maps don’t make them nearly as obvious as others.

Frostgorge Sound is probably the worse map. It looks like whoever made that map was rushed and didn’t get to finish it. There are slopes to block players yet they chose to put an invisible wall in front of them. There are rocks missing sides so they are more like tents and a lot of wasted space that could be used for events, nodes, etc. Plant and tree nodes on ice bergs/flows, one mineral node below the ground layer making in inaccessible to mine, etc.

Before y’all discuss the “real world” or “breaking immersion,” please consider whether you really want GW2 to be more realistic:

  • Do you really want friendly fire? Why isn’t immersion broken when friends stand in a Barrage
  • Do you really want burning things to burn you if you get too close?
  • Do you really want to be locked into your direction while falling|gliding, without needing actual impulse to change your linear momentum 180 degrees?

Game physics tries to be realistic, but in the end it has to serve the game first and Real World Physics™ last. Issues of balance and fun have to take priority over imitating our world.

The way I avoid “immersion breaking” issues is by assuming whatever the game does is how it is supposed to be; for me, immersion is only broken when I forget that and assume RL is somehow ‘correct’ in Tyria.

Re: Friendly Fire

From the context of the game it seems to me that weapons being magical in nature have a sort of safety that only damages the enemy target.

Re: burning

Sure, stand in a fire and get burned. I’m ok with that. I’ve wondered why it wasn’t that way.

Re: Gliding

A glider in the real world has control over the direction of the glider. Even falling bodies have a measure of control on direction. A good example is a sky diver. They aren’t falling like an object in a vacuum. The can shift their direction and control their rotation even before deploying the parachute. I’m ok with game falling/gliding being more like the real world.

Yeah – the “Account Bound on Acquire” nature of the new stat combos confuses me as well. And it’s not even simply the HoT ones – Zealots and Marauder stats can’t be trading-posted either.

I think anything you craft should be able to be sold. I stumbled upon the recipe for Radiance which unknown to me at the time sucked down 50 ectos. It was account bound on acquire. I already had a staff of higher stats and really couldn’t do anything with it except salvage it. I only got 3 ectos back and of course unlocked the skin. I think if you craft it, the skin should be unlocked and it should be able to be listed for sell.

Lazy programming that completely breaks immersion, imho…. and it was something they had right in gw1 and just completely forgot how to do for gw2.

GW2 is a fun game to play but a lot of stuff in GW2 breaks immersion unfortunately. One thing that bugged me about Quake engines over Unreal is the use of invisible walls to block players. GW2 uses them excessively. The collision layer and texture layer are the same in Unreal but I think the collision layer in the GW2 engine is separate from the texture layers. This is why you get so many surfaces that you can pass thru yet run into invisible walls.

When gliding was added to central Tyria it got really bad. Some maps aren’t so bad but others like Frostgorge Sound are really bad. Lots of invisible walls and solid objects you can pass thru. Some surfaces are totally missing. They erected invisible walls all around that central range in the middle just to keep people off of it. The top surface of it had no collision layer in many spots. It’s kind of a waste because they could do a lot with that area of the map.

One thing I’ve noticed about combat is the lack of high ground advantage. In real world physics range weapons such as bows and rifles have a high ground advantage but with GW2 it seems to be based on a sphere around the player and the weapon. When elevated above and a bit away from the target there is a drop off where that sphere of influence curves under negating high ground advantage. There are ways around it with pets, turrets and such to extend that damage influence.

I’ve played quite a few first person shooters and they rarely have this problem. Was this a choice of the devs or a side effect of how they calculate damage? I’m curious on what others think about this topic.

Farming gold still hard in this game?

Last time I played this game, farming in game currency (which is gold, silver and copper) was a pain in the neck, my question is: its still same? I’d also like to know if there’s any new solo/story content? there was literally nothing to do as end game content, except endless pvp

I laid out of the game for awhile partly because farming gold was harder in GW2 than GW1. I was generally frustrated at the game early on because it was missing so much I liked about GW1. I got back into it a little over a year ago.

Gold is fairly easy to get these days. I got over a 100 gold over the last week. You have to be smart about how to farm. Mid-level wood and metals are in demand because crafting ascended weapons sucks them down. I depleted my supply of some stuff crafting an ascended weapon. Farming Karka is very profitable too. I can usually get a lot of loot off the HoT maps too but I have been mostly salvaging the rare items for ecto.

There are plenty of farming guides out there.

Fractals are also extremely lucrative now too. They have also put gold rewards back into dungeons. No, its not as bad as it used to be. In fact, its much, much better.

Not that much in dungeons. I did a dungeon alone the other day and it wasn’t that rewarding. I could have opened a handful of airship cargo and got the same thing. I’m not sure how it is for parties but a single player it’s not that much.

I miss the dual professions from GW1. Going back to that is something that won’t happen. I think they missed the mark on it. They could have done meta-professions (combinations of two professions). Engineer+Thief=scrapper, Ranger+Monk=druid, Warrior+Thief=Assassin, Warrior+Guardian=Revenant, etc.

I miss being able to choose my profession after I create my character. I think that missing in the game takes away a lot of the early learning a new character.

Engineer: Why no quick swap for weapons?

in Engineer

Posted by: Tekoneiric.6817

Tekoneiric.6817

I like running scrapper/engineer but I feel like the profession could be improved. For starters I think the profession needs a better off-hand weapon or the glue shot needs to be changed or improved. It’s useless. The shield’s recharge is too slow. I’d like to see a focus like weapon used for something. A whip would be good off-hand too. Basically the profession more of a rifle/gunslinger with other skills. Good for short/mid range attacks and stealth.

If no weapon swap I’d like to see a skill swap on the other side because I’m always adjusting my skills or a button to quick reset the skills back to player chosen defaults.

Typically when I’m roaming PvE maps I use rocket boots, flame thrower, shredder gyro and sneak gyro. The shredder gyro is useless except as a distraction. When doing a boss fight or meta-event I change to others depending on the needs. I wish the shredder gyro would tag to an enemy and last longer. I don’t play PvP but I imagine it’s useless as the other player could just step aside.

I didn’t know it was possible, but I lost ~6000 gold in the past day. (had 4000 ectos in the bank in massive-glob form, which accounts for ~2000g, not included in the account value – it’s gone now!)

Friendly tip to those thinking about it, don’t do it!

… this isn’t the first time for me, either~

Wow, hopefully you don’t throw real world money around like that.

The most I’ve lost is when I accidentally lost 50 ectos (+5 for inscription) when I was trying discovering recipes. I hit on Radiance which takes 50 ectos. Of course I didn’t notice and crafted it, it comes out account bound (why??). I already had a staff more powerful so not knowing what to do with it I salvaged it. After salvaging it I realized how many ectos it took. Oh well I unlocked the skin. Expensive lesson though but not as expensive as yours.

Why not reuse old content during droughts?

I liked pre-ascalon in GW1, it was one of my favorites. This is a good idea, but I don’t think they’d want to split the community up like that. That would force newer players into zones without veterans and so far that’s goes against their direction for the community.

It would be nice if they had an Orr update refreshing it with life coming back, but that will most likely never occur. Dreams of a healed Orr will have to remain to our imagination.

Have you completed all the stories on all your characters? I haven’t. I sure most people haven’t. There would be plenty of people that would leave some of their characters at various stages to keep access to some maps like old LA. As it is now you can’t access old LA except in story instances. In GW1 I kept a character or two in pre-searing as did many people. There would be plenty of experienced and new players mixing on maps. Many maps wouldn’t have to be instanced; only changed areas like Orr, LA, Divinity’s Reach, etc.

It would force the devs to be a little more conservative about changing core maps. They would also have to stop referencing story characters on maps. As it is you do the story where one character dies then pop to another map and the character is magically alive again. Also as it is you’ll never truly defeat an elder dragon because even if you have defeated him when you revisit the maps he’s still alive. If they would focus their future map changes on the outlying maps impacted directly by stories it wouldn’t be an issue for core maps.

I know if I were directing a dev team I would basically introduce new maps in stories then the player gets access. The way they did it with entry into the HoT. I would make the stories more like a raid into the map but one player could do it with Destiny’s Edge 2.0 and other NPCs to pad it out. Enter with a party of players would remove some NPCs to balance it out. The raid like stories to new maps should be to establish waypoints along with completing the story. I would make them repeatable without messing up your story position. Until you finish a story on the map the waypoints could be like save points in some games. Start at the last established waypoint. An Asura tech NPC would say “This looks like a good spot for the waypoint!”.

I think they have missed out on a true living world by not using the player’s story to give the players slightly different version of the maps depending on where they are in the story arch. I’d like to see a post Zhaitan version of Orr where one or more of his lieutenant are trying to take power. They could limit it to the 3 Orr maps and it would explain risen on other maps with some slight change of dialog to remove direct references to Zhaitan. I know there are quite a few people who would like to see the old LA map. I really don’t think it would take many changes on ANets part to do it since missions mostly take place in private instances on Central Tyria maps. Tweeks of dialog here and there to avoid references to characters that die in the story on non-changing maps. I think that’s the best way to reuse content.

There could be missions to replace the self-destructed energy probes with ley-line collectors. Since they appear to be an item that could easily be flagged to use one model or another to any given player without having a dedicated post changed map. They could hint at the mission by having ley-line energy coming out of them. The Pact could see them as dangerous and give the mission to replace them. If done right they could explain a reoccurring event on each spot to collect the energy not unlike the ley-line events they have now. There are many ways to adapt content to make it fresh.

I am surprised they haven’t done a summer festival or even a wintersday in summer.

As someone who has a very good working knowledge of computers, their capabilities, games, having done some programming and even work on game maps for FPSs in my spare time; my suggestions don’t come without a lack of forethought.

…Perhaps proofread that again.

More seriously without going into quite what suggestions you’re speaking about it’s difficult to really make any kind of analysis of the merits of your suggestion and you seem to be laboring under the assumption that simply because ANet doesn’t respond to your suggestions that they aren’t reading the forums and taking notes.

We know they read the forums, they have a community management team and Gaile is actually a very frequent poster compared to competing MMO community managers. The last three WvW design polls were pulled very specifically from what people were calling for in the WvW forums. Simply with that in mind- that they’d even entertain the idea of permanently pulling DBL out of rotation- I find it extremely difficult to connect the idea of them not listening to the forums with their actions.

Just because they are not actively participating in every single suggestion thread doesn’t mean that they’re not paying attention to suggestions. It’s simply a matter of manpower and effective application of their time.

Corrected… Thanks for picking at nits.

It hardly takes any more time to acknowledge suggestions than it does to make a note of them somewhere. Silence on their part tells most people it’s not worth the effort and they probably aren’t listening or even are actively ignoring. Even using canned responses is at least a token acknowledgement that it was worth the effort to post.

They could even add it as achievements in the game as they flag them to encourage forum participation; Bug hunter, Master of Ideas, etc. I personally would like to see a greater web integration rather than relying on sites like GW2 Efficiency. Oops there I go making suggestions again.

Companies don’t just pay people to think of ideas. They pay them to have the training and experience to think about it in the wider sense of what’s good for the game and the majority of players rather than what they personally would like, to know which suggestions are possible and worthwhile following up and to know how to do that.

It’s the same in any field. I’ve never worked as a games designer but I do work in conservation and people with good ideas are very easy to find. People with good ideas which are practical, cost-effective and worked out in detail are very rare.

Which isn’t to say it’s not worth posting your suggestions. Just that it’s not at all comparable to what Anet staff do on a daily basis. And that just because you think an idea is good doesn’t mean it should happen as there are likely to be considerations you haven’t thought of.

And the exact same is true of my ideas, and anyone elses. I’ve had ideas I think are great which never even got as far as the forum because I told my guild and got shouted down. Some of them I still think are great but I have to accept that other people disagree and they play this game too.

As someone who has a very good working knowledge of computers, their capabilities, games, having done some programming and even work on game maps for FPSs in my spare time; my suggestions don’t come without forethought.

The fact that you have Linux on so many different things doesn’t mean that a Linux gw2 client will run on all these things. Don’t forget the CPU differences here, phones are all on ARM CPUs for example so an x86 Linux build isn’t going to work on them. And even if it did you would have the resources to run the game anyway

We all know this. Of course not all Windows based platforms have the forte to run the game either.

The whole point of this discussion is that it’s easier to port from Linux to other platforms like Mac, Unix or even Windows than it is to go from Windows to other platforms. We all know about Wine but while that isn’t emulation it’s not the most ideal method to run it. Mac users have been putting up with that particular kludge for awhile.

Some portable platforms are getting to the point where they are nearly capable of running graphic intensive games. Not to mention dedicated set top boxes. It’s only a matter of time. Its better to be ready for come what may then not.

It only “makes sense” for people who arent seeing more details of the picture.

Console and mobile portability was not considered, should not be considered, and will never be considered for GW2. The biggest factors are the update oversights (ie vetting processes each time) by the console “parents” that delays updates longer than what we get them now; game-breaking bugs existing longer than hours or days because of update oversight; server rollbacks as a result of update oversight issues; strictly isolated console servers due to inability to retain synchronous versioning across all platforms. These are the hurdles anet pretty much said “kitten no” to.

And here I was thinking it was more about how ANet didn’t want to give Sony a share of the profits if it were on the PS3/4…. How ignorant of me.

Of all the suggestions I posted I think the Pact Airship memorial in LA to act as a sink for airship oil is probably one the best. I haven’t gotten a peep on any of my suggestions. I see little if any response to those of others either.

About all I do see is someone from ANet sending contentious threads off to a sub forum to bury them and/or locking them down. I’ve often times wondered if some people get ignored on purpose.

I wish they would code a Linux client for GW2. Many people have grown to despise MS and Windows more and more. I think it’s a good time for game developers in general to move to supporting native Linux games as an option.

My only tie to Windows is this game. I’ve had my fingers crossed for a Linux client since day 1

While I’m not currently running Linux on any of my PCs, I have used Linux in the past and know my way around it. I came into computer via the Commodore world. I was a diehard Amiga user for the longest time. I really don’t hold any real allegiance to any one platform. I use Windows because I have to due to work and this game. Having been an Amiga user for so long I find all other platforms wanting.

I wouldn’t say that I’m a fan of Linux per say; I have a couple of issues with it. One being the general elitist attitude of it’s hard core supporters. I think that more than anything has prevented critical changes needed in it for adoption into the consumer and office desktop market. Given how I feel about it I do think porting to Linux is a very smart idea because of how portable it would make the code.

I’m about to put Linux on one of my PCs and will probably test out GW2 under wine at some point although I run it normally on my gaming PC w/Win7.

Microsoft is driving me away from their platform outside of work with all the privacy issues. I know quite a few people feel that way also. Given that and the decline in PC sales; it’s only a matter of time before Windows based gaming will suffer. MS going to a subscription model doesn’t make it any better.

Not gonna happen, Linux market share is like 2% while Windows is about 85%. Putting in that much effort to please the 2% makes no economic sense.

That’s 2% of the desktop market. Linux is a back in for way more than 2% of computing devices out there. As I stated previously; part of the reason why a Linux client makes sense is portability to other platforms like a native Mac client, PS3/4, etc.

They may not comment often (sometimes, they do), but some suggestions do make it into the game.

Considering the same suggestions can often be found on the forums (and elsewhere) even when the suggestion has been commented on, it would probably be counter-productive for the Devs to comment on each post/thread.

It would be nice if they (ANet) made some bit of effort to acknowledge players post occasionally.

“Hey that’s a good idea.” “It’s a good idea but has been suggested before.” “Interesting but I don’t think it’s possible to implement that because …”

There is an old phrase “silence breeds contempt”. Most companies these days have people who interface with the public beyond official announcements because people see companies that don’t as being detached from their customer base . The forum is the best way for them to engage the customer base.

The fundamental problem for any commercial support for Linux is What is Linux?
There are currently 235 differant Linux distributions .
Which one would be supported?
Who decides when and if the supported distribution gets changed / altered / has new libraries added etc.
This is a total nightmare for a game company to even address.
WOW still has no Linux support, even though its been asked for since the game was originally released in 2004.
Blizzard have obviously done the sums and figured out theres no economic benefit for them.
For people who want Linux, how much would you be prepared to pay for the Linux client and its development costs ,and a monthly sub to pay for Linux Support?

The big problem is the dwindling PC base. People are moving to mobile devices for nearly everything. I talk to many people through work that don’t have home PCs anymore. When you combine that with issues with Windows these days it’s going to squeeze the possible number of players down. If they did a Linux client it would be more portable to other platforms easier than one coded specifically for Windows.

I really wish the Linux community, game makers and graphics card companies would get together to establish a Linux gaming platform standard. With a little effort on their part they could establish a platform that would kill the Windows dominance as a gaming platform.

The one really annoying thing to me about the game is having to spending an excessive amount of time selling stuff out of my inventory. I wish the drop rate of stuff from chests and such was lower but give more rewarding drops. Often about 1/3 of the drops I get are stuff that has reached the lowest sell price on the BL store and there are hundreds if not thousands of them being sold. I usually either salvage those or sell them to a regular merchant. It takes time to check all of the loot on the BL store.

More rewarding but fewer drops would help both the player and reduce demand on the BL store. At least in the HoT areas which is where a lot of the high volume drops are.

Also this is just a thought but maybe removing account bound from the various container drops (bags, backpacks, boxes, etc) would help also as it would allow them to be sold without the player having to open them.

I’ve previously suggested on multiple occasions that I thought it would be good if they detached the skins from the gathering tools.

The could sell basic unlimited gathering tools on the gem store for 500 gems and sell the various animation skins for 500 gems. This way you wouldn’t be locked into one animation for that tool. They could also put a random check box on the gathering tool tab of the hero panel that would do random animations for ones you have unlocked. It would give people an incentive to buy all the skins they liked.

I can’t see that it would be very difficult for the devs to code since they already have it setup for the glider skins minus the random check box.

I just wish the airship was an instance so you could return to your point of origin and it could directly drop people off at Fort Trinity and Camp Resolve since they both have airship ports. I’d like to see them add visible airship docks to all cities where it would drop people off at. In Camp Resolve they could set it so you could ride up the elevator to the airship platform. I think all of it would add value both to the game and of the pass on the gem store.

Please remove the Aetherblade JP from Diving

I only got it with the help of a mesmer. I couldn’t get very far into it even using my engineer with the jump shot. I’m still trying to figure out how mesmers are able to port so far. One had a portal way outside the cavern then ported a number of us to the dive point then the end of the puzzle.

Even though I got it with help I would like to see it removed or moved elsewhere because not everyone has the dexterity to do jumping puzzles. Besides it’s supposed to be a dive point achievement not a jumping puzzle achievement.

I’ve always thought that the slayer achievement should have a mastery point and title attached to it because that takes forever to finish. Even level 500 crafting should have mastery points attached.

Crazy idea!

Have you tried creating a new character with the same name as the soulbound gear?

would be interesting to learn rather or not this would work, doubtful but nothing to loose.

It doesn’t.

Yea, there is an underlying ID for each character that makes the unique.

I’d like to see Crab Meat upgraded to a crafting/cooking ingredient. Its a waste having it as a trophy item.

2 gold for dailies-- did it work?

Everyone wants to link the inflation to the 2G from dailies but 2G really isn’t that much. Yes it does add up but most people will blow it on waypoint jumps and such. It’s really just an incentive to get people to do different stuff in the game. There are much quicker ways to make money like farming for trees/mineral nodes, opening airship cargo or one of the quickest ways, farming for karka shells.

Prices jumped on mid-level wood when people started working towards the new legendaries. It was about the time they added new stuff to the gem store that everyone wanted so people started converting their gold to gems.

2G for dailies does cause people to zerg on the current daily event map. I wish they would do the events by region rather than map because it would break up the zergs. Some events are over too fast when you have 20 or 30 people on the minor event.

I’d actually go one step further and abolish soulbound stuff altogether. Make it all account bound. Soulbound (and the equivalent in other games) is one of those annoyances that doesn’t need to exist.

I agree. I’m not a fan of soul binding to one character. You should at least be able to salvage soul bound gear but they won’t even let you do that. The only thing you can do with it is either destroy it or dump it into the mystic forge if you can find items that go with it.

I wish they would eliminate soul bound and make everything that is account bound salvageable. I’ve actually gotten stuff out of the mystic forge that is soul bound but not usable by my character’s profession.

Sometimes you can’t even buy stuff from Karma vendors for your other characters because they come out soul bound.

Losing connection to game server

I dropped a couple of times earlier. I thought it was my connection because my ISP has done maintenance a couple times this week. One time was at the end of the Legendary Wyvern Patriarch. I was gliding when the connection dropped. I reconnected just as my character glided safely down to a root narrowly missing a death plunge into the crevasse.

The reason you don’t get that in open world PvE is because open world PvE is failproof – so nobody cares what you do or how you do it.

That aside – why don’t open and cleared raid instances work for you?

Rather than getting someone’s incomplete sloppy seconds it would be nice to get the story also. There is a reason I and many others don’t like to join in parties with others. It’s not about not wanting to improve or to get that reward that high strung raiders need to feel special it’s about wanting to access story content and maps without having to deal with party dynamics.

Every single time I go into environments dungeons with a party it’s the same. I end up regretting it because the party leader throws a fit when I zig when they wanted me to zag. There is a video floating around out there showing a kid freaking out at a PC, yelling and banging at his keyboard. I imagine the high strung gamers in dungeons and raids acting the same way when another player doesn’t zig when they wanted them to zag.

I don’t have the ascended or legendary equipment, it’s not that big deal to me. I may get it one day; I may not, it doesn’t matter to me. I don’t need that legendary back piece to feel good about myself. I go in GW2 to relax, get rid of work stress and generally have a good time. In PvE if I encounter something I don’t complete/defeat I put it aside and come back at it when I feel like it. It would be nice to have access to the story in those maps so that I get those missing chapters. Raid locking story content was a horrible idea for ANet.

If they had given raiders exclusive access for a short time as raids into a new area then moved them to open world it wouldn’t be a big deal. IMHO beta maps should be raided first then moved to open world maps so raider can move onto the next beta maps. 6 months exclusive access for raid groups would be fine. They could reward the raider with special stuff and titles. In between beta maps they could give raiders staged non-story training maps.

General question about fav content.

I’m curious on what kind of content people like in GW2. Open world, closed limited team high reward content or PvP/WvW?

I personally prefer open world content that doesn’t require parties.

Verdant Brink is probably the best for gliding with it’s complex up drafts and Legendary Wyvern Patriarch requiring gliding for attacks. I do like gliding on Shiverpeak maps. I just wish there was updrafts on Lornar’s Pass.

I am glad this conversation is taking place in the general forums rather than the raiding subforum. That allows for greater input from both sides.

Again, really glad this is in the general subforum. If a dev sees this, please keep it here rather than moving it like the last thread on this topic. Both sides are more adequately represented here.

I agree on this point but at some point they will bury it off into the raid forum then lock the thread. To me it feels like for some reason ANet wants to bury this topic. That has been their only response to this subject and those of us that feel left out of the content.

And they buried it off into the subforum. I’d be willing to bet they’ll lock this thread by the next business day.

Get rid of PvP and any thing to do with e-sports, quickly followed by raids being removed and RNG being fixed

As much as I don’t care for tight nit group content I don’t think that’s the best thing to do. I’d rather see them do raids with beta access to maps for a few months as part of an advance Pact force into the maps with exclusive rewards for those raiding into beta maps. Once that period is over they can open the maps up for the rest of us at the standard open world PvE reward levels. They could even make deploying waypoints and such as part of the raid plotline. This would give the high strung players access to the exclusive rewards they feel like they need then eventually giving the rest of us access to explore the maps at a slower pace. I think this would mesh well with the GW2 style and storyline.

There is no half way to meet at.

So, if no compromise is possible, you are saying that people should argue to stop further Raid development and nerf current raids, instead of trying to find a solution that would leave Raiders with their content?

I think he’s saying – and I’m certainly saying – that people should just stop trying to weasel their way into raid rewards without actually putting in the time and effort required to get them.

I don’t know why people keep thinking that. This isn’t about the rewards it’s about access to story content and exploring maps. Access to content is rewards in themselves. If I ripped several chapters out of a novel and handed you what was left of the book how would you feel?

I know there are parties and work arounds to get to the content but the fundamental thing is that raids are designed to block single players from content. Not all players want to join up with others in tight nit parties. Many of us are lone wolfs for the most part that enjoy roaming maps and only working with other players on events. Every single time I’ve tried to join a party in a dungeon it makes me regret doing so. I expect raids are worse because of the demand that other players have the best armor and weapons.

One time I went into a dungeon with one party only to have them jump to another part of the dungeon then start freaking out because I didn’t know they were doing so. They started frantically drawing on the radar view and griping in chat. I get enough stress at work. I don’t need that in the environment I use to relax in. I left the dungeon with them PMing me for leaving. I don’t want to play with high strung players period. You rarely ever get that behavor in open world PvE.
