Skills not bassed by weapons

Tekoneiric.6817

I know things aren’t going to change but I kind of wish they weapon skills had been token based where you have token with skills for specific weapons and you can slot them in your weapon to configure them. Don’t like the engineer pistol glue shot, replace it with another skill for something else; maybe trick shot or long shot.

My biggest annoyance is weapon skills that require the player to manually target the enemy. It slows things down in a fight. I can understand some are needed but it’s over used on some professions like elementialist. I like that profession but don’t play it much because of having to manually target things like Dragon’s Tooth which is already slow enough of a skill as it is.

Halloween 2016

I love Halloween, don’t get me wrong, but it’s lost some of it’s heart. While there are more rewards, there is less to actually do. And the decorations in LA don’t fit. More spooky, please, less childrens’ party with the candy corn everywhere. Old LA was perfect at Halloween, but I know that ship has sailed. It still upsets me though.

I don’t see why they couldn’t bring back the old LA for Halloween. The Mad King could cast a spell on the city. They could even have NPCs remark about this and that of the old city.

ANet could just add a deleted items bin to keep items in for a week before they are purged automatically. The icon could be with the little icons across the top of the screen. It would save support having to create tickets to restore items.

The log thing is backward. As one who has actually milled my own lumber, a log should give you several planks. Just saying. Oh and pine is not a hard wood.

I agree. The log/plank ratio and pine thing has bugged me for the longest time. Now I could see the process of making planks producing trash items also like saw dust and kindling. Whoever setup the crafting involving wood seems to have no idea about real world wood production and crafting.

What is ANET doing about the AB multimap

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Tekoneiric.6817

Tekoneiric.6817

I don’t see any issue with it. It seems like ANet designed it that way. Aside from the occasional ok drop (1 to 5 gold) I find the drops in the chests to be of lower quality than other parts of Tyria. In Central Tyria I’ve gotten the odd drop worth 100 gold but I’ve never gotten one that good from AB. Salvage is mostly what AB’s drops are worth and I’ve never sold a single ecto. I’ve never bought any either. It’s just upping my supply for crafting which I imagine is ANet’s intention. From my experience farming iron ore, mid-grade wood or even karka shells brings in way more gold.

Home instance suggestion and personal opinion

Tekoneiric.6817

I like Hoelbrak’s home instance over the others however I do wish we had an account wide homestead option. I think Cragstead is a good example of a Shiverpeaks homestead. It would need a slightly larger library structure to display titles, books, collections, armor and such. A homestead wouldn’t have to be as large as a guild hall. There could also be achievements for visiting other people’s homesteads.

Capes would look stupid on charr…please no

Those spike and open wing backpacks that a number of players are running around with look stupid. Around popular merchants, bank and BL NPCs you can’t see anything because of those sticking out all over the place. At least with capes they just drape down instead of sticking out blinding other player’s view when the players are tightly grouped together. I wish there was a way to hide those awful things from my view.

Capes... Again

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Tekoneiric.6817

I dunno.. I think there’s a proper Charr wisdom as to why they wouldn’t wear capes, and it’s not quadrupedal movement. Ever get a tie stuck in a paper shredder? Yeah, kinda like that, except now that paper shredder is a tank.

Or it could snag on a tree. Capes in a jungle? That’s tantamount to suicide by hanging.

It’s a game. If snagging was an issue in a game then running with deployed wings and spines acting as wind resistance and snagging on everything would be an issue too. At least with capes they don’t blind everyone around the player. Wings on birds don’t stick out all the time; they are neatly folded away until needed for flight.

I know the whole topic of capes comes up from time to time and there is the whole clipping thing especially with the charr. One they that could be done is to make them cultural and have the back skin take priority over back stowed weapons. I wish there was a way to make stowed weapons invisible. With the charr they could do it as some form of sash or waist cape. I prefer capes over those huge wings or spiny back packs.

The UI could have it as a skin priority check box for the armor skin on the outfit tab.

I think LWS3 episodes offer the perfect time to make raid maps part of the open world while still keeping raids active on them. Enter from the raid lobby and it takes you to the pre-LWS3 raid; enter from the map and it takes you post raid open world instance. All they would have to do is adjust content on the non-raid instance to reflect a time after the raids were done. Raiders would be happy and PvEers would be happy. The high level raid specific rewards would be only on the raid instances.

[FEEDBACK] Rising Flames

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Tekoneiric.6817

Tekoneiric.6817

I loved the story with Rising Flames however I’m not that impressed with the Ember Bay map. I find it too convoluted and feels like it was put together to fast. With the repeated pattern of vertical slabs holding up horizontal slabs more like a construct than a volcano. I can understand them near the Mursaat fortress but it doesn’t make sense all over the place. Mount Maelstrom is a way better volcano map.

They totally missed the opportunity to use the aerial combat skills from Bloodstone Fen. What would have made an awesome boss fight is a lieutenant dragon for Primordus showing up inside the caldera to consume an eruption of ley-line energy while players fly around on ley-lines and updrafts attacking using the aerial combat skills. Destroyers attacking from ledges and fire elementals gliding the ley-lines attacking players in the air.

Instead of using portal scrolls for each map I wish they would just do one that brings a list of destinations. One for each map is going to eat up the shared inventory slots eventually.

The petrified wood nodes are annoying in that you don’t always get petrified wood from them. You should at least get three from each like any other node. Petrified wood would have made a great crafting item for ascended jewelry.

I think it would be interesting if the player could visit Taimi every so often to get an update on events and maybe deliver something to her that the player collected.

Can you please fix spawned items?

Twice in the last week someone put the box ‘o fun right in the big round chests under the city in the Auric Basin. The behavior is annoying but definitely not something that’s worth suspending someone over.

I think a simple solution would be to put an exclusion zone around NPCs, chests, nodes, etc. Give a simple message that they can’t drop the item at the location. Ether that or send them to the Rata Sum jail with some pocket raptors no matter where they are in the world. They’d have to kill the pocket raptors before they can jump out. Joke for a joke.

I think there is room in the game for easy and hard content. A lot of the content on core Tyria maps is designed for players at various stages of leveling. I do think many of the events have become stale and need to be updated. The minor event Tekki portal in Brisban Wildlands should deliver random creatures from Tyria. It’d be funny to see pocket raptors or karka come out from time to time. The Claw of Jormag could be updated to include ley-line and Inquest. They could make the pre-events a 3-way battle between players, Inquest and Jormag’s minions ending in the Claw event.

Tekoneiric.6817

Some of the things I’d like to see added are:

Gather tools skins – Buy basic unbreakable tools and separate account wide tool skins from gem store. Allow fixed or random skins for each node gathering. Bonus features such as sprockets get unlocked account wide but only occur with that skin use. By doing bonus gathering items like sprockets with skins it would encourage random skin use. They could do other new bonus harvesting skins like a bunny that gives a chance of getting carrots, a pig harvest skin to that gives bonus truffles, etc. This would sell a lot more gathering tools. I think they could sell the basic set for 1500 gems and skins for 600 gems each and still sell a lot of them.

Salvaging – Make soulbound items, runes, etc where they can be salvaged.

Pact Airship memorial in LA – I suggested this before. There should be an airship memorial in LA that takes 250 airship oil a day. It could give 50 Thermocatalytic Reagents in return. This would help get rid of the glut of airship oil, other ascended crafting items in people’s inventories plus when the glut was gone people would hit the HoT maps big time so they could get the daily Thermocatalytic Reagents. It would be a big win for the game and fit in with the lore.

Radar Screen – Allow players to flag the system not to automatically change the resolution and also show hostiles as red and yellow dots. The last part could come with an account wide sixth sense mastery.

Weapon swap with all professions – I know the arguments for and against this but it would be nice if all characters could swap. I play my engineers a lot and wish I could swap between the rifle and pistol/hammer/shield when I’m not using kits.

Library – Put a library on the hero panel that holds all the unlocked reading material.

Collections display on home instance – Give players a purchased unlock to display collections such as spoons to visitors of their home instance.

Gliding disable hotkey – There are times when gliding gets in the way. It would be nice if there was a hotkey to disable it.

Map break out rewards – Instead of death on HoT maps they could enact no-fly zones on the map edges and induce fear. Many players see map breakouts as a challenge. Build a reward system for them and a mastery point. Players could use buffs to get past the fear zone. Map breakouts is really a non-rewarded puzzle.

Airship pass and other passes – Add Camp Resolve and Fort Trinity as destinations. I really wish all three of the passes was merged into a new map that the passes give access to. Maybe a stable region in the mists that give pass owners a instanced zone where they can do things like crafting, banking, meetups then return to the map they were on. As part of the lore there could be a stabilizing harmonizer for the zone that keeps it stabilized in the mists. It could also act as a place of power to do things like charge quartz. Allow players to purchase anything there that they have unlocked merchants for in Tyria’s various vendors.

Black Lion issue

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Tekoneiric.6817

Tekoneiric.6817

There is definitely something wrong with the Black Lion trading post. I right clicked on the item to sell multiple times as a test; sometimes it comes up with the minimum price and the next time with the current buyers price.

It makes it real problematic to sell items because you can accidentally sell it for the wrong price. Thankfully I’ve only done that once with a minor item.

I also think there is a problem with money transferring from the BL to the player bank. I sold a bunch of stuff yesterday. At one point I noticed the amount of gold I had at one point then later I transferred some money from the BL sales to my bank. I wasn’t paying attention when I did it but a short time later the amount of gold I had was the same as before.

I wish just they would wave listing/exchange fees for filling existing orders.

The BL store has been kind of flaky since the update. When trying to sell something it’ll sometimes come up with the minimum sale price when there are existing orders. If you don’t watch it you can accidentally list high value items for the minimum sale. At one point I went to sell something and got an error saying it wasn’t allowed because I would need to purchase HoT. I’ve had HoT since beta. I only got that once.

I think it would be better if they split the skins up from the tools. They brought out some basic unbreakable tools but I think they are way overpriced. Basic tools should be about 500 gems each and skins unlocks should run about the same. The tools skins should be selectable from the hero/wardrobe panel. The only real issue of doing that would be the watchwork mining pick. Maybe if you were using that skin you could get the sprockets or they could just make it an account unlock.

I will be very clear: We need options for the solo players.
Back in time, in Guild Wars, we had the Heroes system. Why not implement this in the game? I mean, look… The major reason for me that made me bought this game was

They need a hero control UI like in GW1 also. There are some NPCs that help in Fractals but they are dumb. They get themselves killed.

I don’t know why ANet is show hyped up on pushing people to content that requires parties and LFG. Solo players who only come together in loose clusters to do open world events has been the majority of the players base and ANet is alienating them.
