Jormag and the Shiverpeaks

The odd thing about Frostgorge Sound is that it is a sea level since the sea intrudes into the map. It’s roughly at the same level as the Woodland Cascades which shows green. Jormag would have to be keeping that area cold. Fireheart Rise appears to be at roughly the same elevation as Frostgorge Sound.

I wish when they made the maps they had shown a more progressive elevation change into the Shiverpeaks. I also think they should have left a large buffer between maps.

Hands down got to be RIFLE! It’s not used by anyone except warrior and engineer (2/9 classes) and there are currently no meta builds in either sPVP, PvE, Raids, or WvW which use it.

Last time it was used was season 2 sPvP warrior gun flame build – now obsolete

Thief Rifle elite spec would of addressed this. Make Rifle Great again Anet FeelsBadMan

gotta love staff though everyone gets a staff – necro, thief, ranger, guardian, mesmer, elementalist, revenant, that’s 7/9 classes ggwp

I’m not a fan of the rifle on the engineer. It’s slow and the jump shot is the only reason I have one. Off-hand pistol isn’t that good on the engineer either.

I think the main problem is that TT is NOT a raid and newer players don’t understand that it needs so much coordination. There are many World Bosses that you just run up and join the crowd. So people who are now looking for Mastery Points or achievs or whatever run to the area like for so many other Bosses and find it dead.

And as we should all know by now, only a small percentage of players come to the forums. So it will continue to be an issue unless Anet does something about it.

What I’d like to see them do is cap group size and the number of groups on a map. Groups shouldn’t account for more than 50% of the PvE maps players. This would allow random people to fill the other half and spread the groups out on other instances which would also allow random players to catch slots on those instances.

Dragon’s Stand has become the same way. I did the meta on that map several times a few months ago and now unless you are using LFG you end up on a dead instance. PvE should always be about random players coming together rather than organized groups. If they don’t cap groups in PvE it could eventually kill the game because many players will get frustrated at it.

The thing about it is that while Jormag was asleep in GW1 he could have asserted an influence on his region keeping it the way he likes it. I think both are possible.

I would like to see his cold spreading to other maps like Harathi Hinterlands and more of Gendarran Fields than is already cold. They could do a whole plot where it starts snowing in LA and the Black Citadel.

An open world event shouldn’t require players LFG to complete. Other parts of the game yes but not open world. Many PvE players don’t have time for it.

The server instance balanced system is kittened up. I wish they would only allow a specific number of groups per server, cap their size as not to allow everyone in groups to jump to one server and random non-grouped players to be shunted off to a looser server. Balance should be about just that; balance. Not everyone dumping to one server.

The reason you had 48+ points is because you probably had all the achievements from LS2 done as well. For those who do not have LS2, they are at a huge disadvantage, 9 mastery points can be obtained from LS2 alone.

At least 4 of the mastery points are RNG bosses based in the Silverwastes. And another five are locked to Triple Trouble, one for each head and two for the meta achievement, these three bosses doesn’t get a lot of attention these days.

So for a new player it may be difficult to obtain these mastery points. Not everyone has played for all four years.

Of the handful of times I’ve tried the Triple Trouble I’ve yet to see it succeed. There were too few players there to really even attempt it. I wonder if most players don’t skip it once they have the mastery. They should up the rewards to lure more players otherwise it’s a waste of time to even try it.

It took me forever to get autoloot since I only do PvE. I really wish they would add more mastery points for PvE only players. I’m sure there will be many responses saying there are more than enough and how people need to go into PvP, WvW, etc. They don’t seem to get it that there are many people who just like to do PvE.

Masteries are PvE only and you can earn Mastery Points in PvE-only. What are you talking about?

Sorry, I meant Fractals. It’s been awhile since I looked at them. There are 14 locked up in Fractals. Plus many of the ones listed aren’t really usable since they did a fizbin on the whole central Tyria mastery point system. Back when I was trying to finish my commander mastery track I counted up how many I should have which seemed short. Even though they are listed separately on the wiki many seem to over lap and only count as one. I stopped trying to get them after I finished my autoloot.

In my option mastery points should be for when you master something. Like reaching 80 the first time on each profession and each race, when you reach 500 on a crafting skill the first time, finishing the slayer achievement which takes awhile and mastering each weapon. There should be an achievement of Master Gatherer for people who like farming maps. Reach some high number on all nodes and get the point plus a mastery point. Honorary Skritt should be a mastery.

More options for people who want to take different paths is better.

I wish they would open a portal from Hoelbrak to Snowden Drifts by the Owl waypoint. Frostgorge Sound needs some TLC to fix the problems with it.

In GW1 it was primarily a support healing class. I don’t see why monk couldn’t be applied to all races. It could be called healer or something else.

I suggested awhile back that they could move the healing skill to the health indicator. That makes room for additional skills for whatever they add. They could shift everything over to the left and add a new elite specialization to the last.

PvE Map Ques?

The biggest problem I see is Dragon’s Stand and it’s meta event. I stopped trying to do my dailies when that map is the event map. I’ll get on the map well in advance but when it resets and kicks everyone I keep getting punted to a dead map without many people on it.

I wish with big meta events like the one on Dragon’s Stand and Auric Basin I wish they would give the players the choice of which direction they want to commit to then shunt them off to an instance for that direction.

All instances would contribute to finishing the event and get reward. If one has to many players they could offer a reward beyond the standard one to go to a map attacking the other direction. The players should have a view of how many people are on each. They could also place a kiosk where the players could choose to jump to the other map to help out.

In the case of Auric Basin it would be like this:

Instance 1 – North
Instance 2 – West
Instance 3 – East
Instance 4 – South

Dragon’s Stand would have 3. They would have to rework the final part of the meta to allow it to be completed across all 3 instances to finish the event.

I’m not sure why they brought this out. They already have the airship pass and the Royal Terrace one plus the account wide usable Bloodstone Fen Portal scroll that is available to pop you to that map which is just a minor jump to the HoT maps. There is also the PvP lobby which doesn’t have the crafting stations or mystic portal but does take you back to where you left. It seems like a wasted effort to bring this out. They should have just brought the unlimited airship pass back out but added Camp Resolve or Verdant Brink to the pilot’s list.

Although I would be tempted to get a gem card to purchase an unlimited free account wide waypoint pass if they decided to bring it out. I would save me time bouncing around to take the least expensive path to get places. I would hope such a thing would just be something to unlock once.

Raids were a bad idea from the get go and never should have been added to this game. Now that they are here though, they need to be segregated on the mastery list so that the many players who choose not to participate in them aren’t left out of the spirit shards.

I don’t play in raids but I don’t think they are a total bad idea. I think they could be approached differently. They should have a scalable from single player mode up to 10 players with GW1 style henchmen like NPCs padding out the squad gaps.

I also think they should have been done from a story perspective of the squad going in as a Pact advance force to establish a foothold and setup waypoints; basically readying the map to become a regular PvE map. Even after being opened up as a PvE map they could still have the raid going but on a private wild map instance.

If a player chooses not to raid before going to the PvE version they should get a story playback about the Pact forces and background on the map. Or it could be done from a NPC. I just find it annoying that maps with PvE story content that are basically attached to PvE aren’t accessible to PvE only players.

Tekoneiric.6817

For folks with HoT that can’t get enough people to raid either because they don’t have many GW2 friends and/or don’t like to raid with random people they could just allow the players to raid with higher quality NPCs not unlike henchmen from GW1. They could put a GW1 style henchmen interface. The NPCs in fractals don’t really cut it. They just rush in and get themselves killed. They never taunt the target and retreat, go for lesser targets or as I like to do with enemy groups; string them out. That’kittenting them then backing away to string them out along a column to attack the ones in front.

I don’t team up with random people in private instances because of bad experiences doing so in dungeons. I only know a couple of people IRL that play GW2 and they aren’t up to the skill level to even attempt that type of content. I really think GW1 style henchmen like NPCs would solve a lot of the issues people have with going into that content.

As far as people without HoT accounts accessing those masteries I don’t see ANet changing anything for them anytime soon because they are pushing HoT. I’m sure it’ll be the same with HoT players when the next expansion comes out.

Nodes on L80 maps

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Tekoneiric.6817

Tekoneiric.6817

I was thinking more on this. For existing maps what they could do is have mithril nodes give 2 mithril and one of another metal or with a chance of giving a 4th random item. It might be a bit strange to do that with tree nodes. It’s a game so they could go for it.

It’s safe to say that all the lower level maps that exist now is all there will ever be in the game. The only new maps they create will be L80 maps. Eventually they could have 20 or even 30 high level maps. That’s a lot of maps with mithril and elderwood. I really think they need to balance it out.

I see 1 problem with your idea, that being tools. Sure it won’t be an issue for people with the unlimited tools. However those without will have to carry multiple sets and have to switch to the right ones all the time or waste their Mith/Ori tools on the lower tier nodes.

It was a pain for me before I bought my unlimited tools. I got sick of swapping Mith to Ori even when I came up to the Ancient/Ori Nodes so in the end I just stuck with Ori tools, yes I know such a waste but convenience…
Not so sure I (or others) would want to use their Mith or Ori tools on lower lvl nodes even if those materials are worth more than Mith/etc. It’s just a mindset I guess lol.

Yea I was in that mindset for awhile myself. I stopped doing that especially with characters I use on L80 maps. My main characters have the gem store tools but I only get ori tools for the others unless I’m specifically using them on a lower map. On some of my characters I’m still burning through the extra tools I bought. I use them as an excuse to map complete with my secondary characters. Gold is still cheap. The 2 gold from dailies more than cover the cost of using only ori tools.

As to the downgrade suggestion; it’s something they could do as a balance fix mainly with trees. They could add a lumber milling option in crafting to generate other wood grades from elderwood.

Nodes on L80 maps

Honestly it is kind of silly with how the game is designed that there are zone level specific nodes to begin with.

Why not just have all types of nodes spread across every level zone in specific areas in a more naturally occurring way?

I think they did that in mind for people as they level they would access new materials. I can understand that but since there are so many high level maps now it creates a problem with material balance. The high level maps should be the ones to be diversified not the low level maps because of new players.

Every L80 maps has mithril ore, elderwood logs, orichalcum ore and ancient wood logs on them. I think that the prices of mithril is suffering because of it. Elderwood prices are depressed but it’s use vs availability is keeping the price up for the moment. Orichalcum and ancient wood logs are rare enough to keep the prices up.

Mithril has dropped quite a bit. I wonder if it’s going to become almost a trash priced item at some point that can only be sold to merchants. I wish they would diversify the nodes on the L80 maps by replacing some of them with other mineral and wood nodes on at least a few L80 maps.

I think more so mithril with the odd node of iron, silver, platinum popping up here and there. Maybe a little less with other woods replacing elderwood.

I know they can be farmed on the other maps. I’m just wondering if that would head off glut in mithril and elderwood by creating a balance with others materials. I think there are almost 15 maps with them.

What gets me is that ANet’s people have such good imaginations yet they resort to cheap grind and repeat boss scenarios at the end of the story chain. HoT is that way and so is LWS3. While it is fun trying to figure out how to do something but doing the same grind over and over and over is very boring and tiring especially on the long story instances they want to put at the end. Of course you can’t save your place in it and come back when your rested to finish it. I’m sure there are a lot of people who lack the endurance to grind thru those long end story instances.

Map currency+karma both of which anyone that plays maps has a bunch of. They could just take bloodstone dust, airship oil or any of the various excess materials for them.

I am just comparing prices of recipe sheets on TP vs vendor.

In the majority of the cases the TP is cheaper. Vendors want 3g + map currency or laurels.

Maybe they could just be unlocked on map completion, event or achievement. They could do away with them as an item in your inventory all together.

There’s a set of stairs there that, unlike any other stairs around the colloseum, you can’t walk up because there’s an INVISIBLE wall across them. If you didn’t want players to walk up those stairs the appropriate thing would have been to make it a cliff, or use some other visual indicator that it’s inaccessible. Instead, you created these lovely looking stairs that are inaccessible. That’s just poor design. You did it in core, you did it in HOT and you’re still doing it.

Is there going to be another sink for Airship Oil soon? A lot of people are accumulating large amounts of it and having to delete it. I’m on the verge of having to delete a large amount of it due to the high drop rate.

Previously I suggested an Pact airship memorial in LA to take donations of airship oil to take 250 oils once a day for an eternal flame and get an item in return. Someone else suggested that Thermocatalytic Reagents would be a good exchange. I think 50 per 250 oil would be a good exchange. It would get people crafting more, help consume other things that build up and push people more towards HoT maps when they run out of oil in a few weeks.

Or maybe some people don’t like the price of the Thermocatalytic Reagents to craft them for how little they are used.

If they were to take my suggestion about an airship memorial they could give those for the donation. Something like 50 for 250 oil. It would encourage people to craft and go to HoT to get the oil.

Too many Keys and Tokens

The number of keys and tokens has gotten out of hand. We have Zephyrite Lockpicks, Bandit Skeleton Keys, Bandit Shovels, Key of Greater Nightmares (and pieces), Pact Crowbars, Exalted Keys, Vials of Chak Acid, Machetes, Aetherkeys (in pieces and complete), Chak Eggs, and Reclaimed Metal Plates. All of these need to be in your inventory when you want to use them.

Counting the incomplete pieces, that is 12 items that, ideally, EVERY CHARACTER SHOULD HAVE unless you intend to never go a map with them. If you are fortunate enough to have shared inventory slots, these items take up all but 2 of them if you have the max available, and keep in mind that it costs, at current gem prices, 7490 gems or nearly $100 (or 2019 gold at time of writing) plus the $74.99 or $100 HoT edition.

If, like the majority of players, you do not have more than the single shared slot, then you have to park all your characters at Lions Arch or another bank location constantly so you can swap all these items into and out of every character’s inventory manually whenever they go to the relevant map so you have the ability to make full use of them.

This is ludicrous. Either these need to be added to the wallet so they are available to all characters or we need a keyring or some new shared system for them. You shouldn’t need to spend $150+ to be able to manage your inventory effectively, and if you have you should be able to use those slots as you want, not have them constantly occupied by these items.

I agree, they have gotten out of hand. It wouldn’t be so bad if they were stored in the account wallet. I usually keep crowbars in a shared slot then I use the others with the character I frequent the maps with.
