Airship Pass - Camp Resolve

Please add Camp Resolve to the airship’s destination. There is an airship terminal there so game wise it makes sense. It would be interesting if you departed from the top of the elevator to ride it down.

I would also suggest that Airship terminals should be added to all cities.

and require it.

I use an older Belkin Nostromo N50 which is used on the left hand. It’s a device designed for thumb and button controls. It’s out of production now but the device was re-marketed in a newer more buttons version by Razer as the Tartarus. .

I just looked this up, now this looks like something that might work! But can you program the keys to function with GW2? I have a G710 KB and I couldn’t bind the G keys to any usable functions.

Some of the other problems I have when in combat is window popups. For example, sometimes when I want to turn left, I hit the “d” key, but my left hand can get jerky at times and I hit the “G” and the guild window pops up.
The keys on this look large, which will help to reduce hitting the wrong thing. Ill look into getting one.

Thanks

You can bind any key you want to the pad. The only problem with the Nostromo is that the product isn’t supported anymore. The software works with Win 7 with some configuring but I haven’t tried it on any later version of Windows. It definitely doesn’t work with the Mac anymore. The Tartartus is a current product and has support. It’s available in Best Buy and various other places. While the newer one has more buttons I like the n50 better because I can grip it in the gap when I get aggressive in game play. I just leave my index finger out to hit the jump/evade buttons. If I wasn’t so rusty at programming I would write a dedicated driver for it to translate my preferred layout without any configuring except in games. I would set the wheel to system volume control which wasn’t done in the software for it.

If you find an old n50 somewhere you want to keep the USB plug accessible because it sometimes has to be unplugged and replugged back in. I don’t know if the n52 or Tartarus has that issue.

Sorry to hear about your difficulties. This is a situation where ANet needs to allow true macros (more than one action per key press). They are quick to jump on those players using helper software but they forget there are players out there that have various levels of physical difficulties and require it.

I use an older Belkin Nostromo N50 which is used on the left hand. It’s a device designed for thumb and button controls. It’s out of production now but the device was re-marketed in a newer more buttons version by Razer as the Tartarus. I had to get one for someone else with a Mac because the older software doesn’t work. I use a single key binding layout. On the device’s software I bind it to the numeric pad keys 1 to 9 then zero to key 10 on the pad. In game here is my layout:

01 = Walk
02 = Weapon Skill 1
03 = Hero Dialog
04 = Inventory Dialog
05 = Dodge
06 = Autorun
07 = Show/Hide Chat
08 = Look Behind
09 = Map
10 = Jump

I rarely have to go to the keyboard unless I’m chatting. As far as mouse usage I’m not sure what options are out there. Maybe stirrup peddle with down being left mouse and up being right mouse. It could be spring loaded to neutral which is why you would need a strap across the foot to pull it up. A center pivot heel to toe peddle could work to. It depends on your level of control. Mouse movement wise I’m not sure. Maybe you could get with a local maker group to see what they could come up with. If you have a normal desk chair then someone could link sensors to the pivot and rotate movements to shift the mouse around the screen. Sensors could be used to detect your head left to right movements to shift the view. A platform pivot could be put under a Nostromo/Tartarus for left/right view shift.

People in the maker communities are usually looking for unique builds. In the Dallas area there is the Dallas Maker Space.

If you don’t have the full Pact Commander mastery to auto loot you could talk to ANet support to see if they can give you auto loot. That should be part of a basic package for people with handicaps.

GLIDERS I'd Like To See!

Flying carpet and broom should become gliders. They would be more usable. I would also like to see a superhero style cape. Yet another think I would like to see added to gliding in general is ground effect gliding when your auto-running.

If they want to push more sales of HoT they should also setup glide points in various cities to allow players to test gliding. On the top of the light house and off the center of the top tier in Hoelbrak. They could put an NPC at the launch points that activate it for the player for each glide. The NPC could explain they need to go to the HoT to train on the skill to use it unsupervised. Off the light house they could use a Asura simulated ley line to the shore on the other side.

I wish they would put in a backdoor way to purchase items that aren’t on the gem store by allowing some things to spawn off into a item purchase panel from the outfits and mini-pet lists on the hero panel along with in game chat codes for items, etc. They could put a gem price on each mini based on popularity even though some of them are available in game from various locations. It would allow players who just want to burn some gems to get them without a hassle and in turn support the game.

With the way sell prices are on farmed items like wood and metals you can still come out on top. You just have to spend time farming. Make a game of it by finding the quickest most profitable routes. I find it quite relaxing especially on the Shiverpeaks maps.

I normally run two pistols with my Engineer but I really see the glue shot as being totally ineffective. In PvE it doesn’t seem to do anything other than make a puddle that quickly vanishes. I wish they would fix it or replace it. Maybe with trick shot, long shot or even chaff decoy shot that confuses enemies making them chase streamers that burn out in a few seconds.

I typically run in windowed mode so I can have access to the task bar which I keep on the left side. The button for maximized widow makes it full screen rather than a max window. Health indicator suggestion

Tekoneiric.6817

They are limited by space, it’s not like you can add additional skill slots on the screen. Moving the health skill to the health indicator would allow one more existing skill to be active during combat. That’s one less skill swapping the player has to do before combat. Visually the health indicator would stay the same. As it is when you click the upper half of the red circle your character just jumps backwards.

You have 5 skill slots aside from weapons. Plan accordingly. That planning may or may not involve going to some other game for your needs.

No need to attack just because of a suggestion. This isn’t reddit. Take the suggestion in the friendly spirit that it was offered. I merely suggested a more optimal use of the UI space. Who knows the Devs might want to add more skills later. This suggestion would give them space. It’s easy for anyone to overlook the obvious.

Has anyone ever suggested turning the current health status in the center into a healing slot? It could look the same but clicking on the area would allow you to use the selected healing skill. They could put a health skill selector below it. This would free up the current healing slot for use for other skills.

Tekoneiric.6817

I just think it’s a waste to have content the player only accesses once per character. I was thinking further on this. The commune ones could give a random once a day boon. The fight ones could be a once a day rematch and they could have the NPC say “I had this left over from ____, enjoy it” gifting you a random item from a out of season holiday event. These would give the player a reason and ability to redo them plus give the player a chance to get an off-season item.

Renown Hearts/Hero challenges/Daily System

Tekoneiric.6817

Renown Hearts and Hero challenges are done once per character. As contents goes they can’t be repeated per character. That’s a waste of content. I’d like to see them altered to be repeatable. With the Hero challenges could be used to give the character a specific charge of something related to the map or a cross map mission to deliver a charge for a mission or a NPC.

With the Renown Hearts they could make them a multi-tier system that change. First tier for map completion then additional tier to make them repeatable and maybe to contribute towards a mastery. The whole concept of mastering something means you’ve perfected the skill by repetition.

If they could be repeated they could be included with the daily system, maybe to replace a fractal daily.

Suggestion - Crafting failures

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Tekoneiric.6817

Tekoneiric.6817

Instead of doing binary either you can or can’t craft something due to the level I’d suggest having an element of chance and risk to the discovery part of crafting. As their level goes up their chance of success could go up to 100% when they reach the intended level. This would help someone a couple of points off from a level to craft an intended object. It shouldn’t be a linear progression but rather a curve that only gets close to 100% chance when they are really close to the level. If they are 50 points off then they have little chance of success but 5 points could have a 80% chance. A warning should show on the screen asking the player if they really want to craft this advanced material.

Failures could be in the form of ruined objects, unintended magic effects, jump to a random waypoint, explosions summoning or creating creatures depending on what’s being attempted. The amusing thing is that it would make players keep far from each other when crafting.

Masteries take too long to level

I wish they would just put more mastery points in central Tyria. Not everyone wants to do every element of the game just to unlock mastery points. I prefer exploring the PvE maps rather than doing stuff like Fractals. I did a bunch of hero stuff expecting to get mastery points only to find out that the wiki is “misleading”. I’m surprised that Honorary Skritt didn’t give a mastery point. That takes awhile to collect all the junk. There are other achievements that could award mastery points.

I’d like to see it if we could bind known skins into a single outfit stored on the outfit tab. It could cost a transmutation stone. Find the right combination and store it as a skin.

I also think they have missed out by not having separate combat, city and water armor slots that automatically change.

Ranger Pet Botting?

Tekoneiric.6817

I’m not sure how pets or minions are harming other players but a good answer to this would be for my /zen suggestion but have it go automatic when someone is idle for a specific amount of time. Basically I suggested a command that would put the user in a floating lotus position and they wouldn’t be able to get reward or get killed until they move. The pet/minions would be put away. Maybe even have it automatic if they stay within a specific radius.

Interesting idea
How would players be kept from camping dangerous boss areas until an event spawns, if they choose /zen?

Players camp as it is, that has to be accepted. It doesn’t affect other users playing the game except as a visual distraction.

Mastery points, ugh [Merged]

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Tekoneiric.6817

I’m not a fan of the central Tyria mastery system either. On HoT you can find mastery points everywhere and that is just an expansion. It becomes a major grind in central Tyria to complete them. Not everyone has the time to play the game. I recently played my engineer thru to kill Zhaitan and that took a lot of time to finish. I also don’t care for jumping puzzles but to complete the dive I had to do the jumping puzzle to finish it. My problem with jumping puzzles is often times they force the character thru with timed threats. Not everyone has the dexterity to play them. I avoid them normally because I find them too stressful and aggravating. I prefer the free form explore aspect to the game as do many others. I would like to see mastery points added for hidden areas of the map where players have to use their brain to figure out how to get to. No pressure, just the player and the map. Make a game out of map breakouts to get unlisted mastery points. I left my character on top of a tent in one map then left them map, the next time I came back into the game it put me inside the tent with no exit. That would be a good spot for a hidden reward.

Suggestion for Frostgorge Sound map

On the Frostgorge Sound map. I would like to see the area above the cave system with the imps opened and playable. It’s a large chunk of the map that isn’t playable. It’s locked up like Fort Knox with invisible walls. With the two bridges over the grawl passage it would make for a interesting area. It has potential for another event. Maybe something related to hatching ice dragons.

I think a small den/cave should be added to explain the Arctodus on top of the Trionic Lattice.

I wish there was more care in the placement of nodes and creatures. I can’t see plants growing on icebergs. The odd mineral embedded in the ice yes but not plants.

Some maps get difficult to find a safe spot when you need to go aft for a few. I’m sure more than a few players thought they were safe and come back to find their character down. Of course it would need to take them out of any reward for events. It would also prevent other players from having to revive afk players only to have them go down again.

What’s to stop them from doing it at any event. The fewer people left on the map would require more of an effort to clear every NPC on top of each person having to clear every node themselves. People doing nothing would just ensure the event would fail. Also just like some events have the players have to actually make a threshold of kills to join the event and if they stop killing the system drops them from the event. With no respawn of NPCs they couldn’t just stay in one spot and kill the odd thing because there wouldn’t be anything there. The players would have to keep moving.

I’ve got a couple of suggestions for new chat commands.

/zen – puts your character into a floating lotus sitting position and keeps your character from being attacked. Not usable if you are already in combat mode. Pet on ranger is put away. Useful for when you step away for a few minutes.

/fetch – Allows player to play fetch with mini-pets using a targeted ball throw.

Make a challenge of maps instance closures. Disable all new events, kill respawn, turn all friendly NPCs into enemies and activate all NPCs to attack mode. The challenge would be for the remaining players to clear the map and harvest all nodes before. Give a group reward for clearing NPCs and personal reward for clearing all nodes.

Central Tyria mastery point unlocks

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Tekoneiric.6817

Tekoneiric.6817

OK, thanks for the info. I really wish they would make the central Tyria mastery points a little less fizbin. HoT mastery points are everywhere but you have to grind to get ones in central Tyria. The wiki is definitely misleading.

They really should add additional ones. Maybe make it part of the game to break out of maps to reach rewards, do a series of challenges where you have tasks from obscure NPCs no one talks to. As an example; there is an abandoned child character on Snowden Drifts that should have a story track plus old big arm mentioned by NPCs on Wayfarer Foothills. I always thought a good story for him would be to rescue him from becoming icebound.
