Suggestion for Raids - Difficulty Levels [merged]

lesser reward is fine for me..

just want to have fun and not wasting time..

I’d prefer explorable mission modes on the maps for single players in addition to the full team raid mode. Many are like me and prefer playing maps alone.

It’s an MMO, you can expect content to require groups.
Dungeons and fractals don’t have solo modes either.

Exclusive group only content will not sustain the game since most people are casual players. All that type of content does is push the devs to make more and more of it for a small section of players meanwhile there is content stagnation in the core PvE part of the game when they could just use existing raid maps to extend PvE. Both content is possible on the same maps just with different instances just like story and open world. I don’t see why they couldn’t do raids on existing PvE maps also. Really all raids are is a jazzed up story instance that requires groups of players to access the content and get the rewards.

It kind of reminds me of how Alton Brown is always against single-purpose kitchen implements on his cooking shows. What the devs have done is make single-purpose maps designed to exclude content from players who don’t care for partying up with other players.

Dungeons have explorable modes but they have made them purposely difficult to keep casual players out. Excluding casual players will be the death of the game eventually.

VLC player will play MKV files no problem.

i use OBS open broadcaster… its free open source.
google OBS local recording for settings on youtube. cuz local recording settings are different from streaming settings.

I wouldn’t play uncompressed mkv generated by MSI Afterburner. It has a problem with some of the compressed ones on color rendering. I thought it was the file but Nero Recode processes them fine but of course by the time they have been reprocessed and uploaded the look horrible. Example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HA9KoXRtjsc

Playing back the file it had a big yellow stripe and other colors was off with VLC player. I wish I could recover that uncompressed one because it showed that spinning bug. It was amusing. I’ll have to try bandicam. I do have a 60gb SSID I could use for recording. I’ll have to put it in the PC next time I have it tore down.

Suggestion: Machine gun burst and Travel Kit

Tekoneiric.6817

I love playing the engineer/scrapper but I really wish they would make some improvements on them. I think the lack of a quick long range weapon is a big limitation. I think one way they could fix this and enhance the scrapper aspect is to move the jump shot off the rifle, 2-4 skills to 3-5 then put a machine gun burst as 2. Hip shot needs to be quicker too. Of course the range needs to be extended.

To keep the jump shot I would like to see them place it on a travel kit maybe replacing the rocket boots. Here’s a suggestion for that kit.

1. single shot – draw hidden pistol
2. standing jump – jump straight up high enough to activate glider otherwise landing back down to do damage like jump shot does.
3. rocket boot – basically same as rocket boots
4. jump shot – extended to be more like the one on the experimental rifle
5. evasion drones – deploys 6 tiny drones that distract and confuse the enemy with low level attacks and smoke screen.

It could still have the boot kick.

I’ve used MSI Afterburner but it’s output is fuzzy. I tried using the uncompressed setting with a mkv container but couldn’t find any software to read the file. Which kind of sucks because I have a recording of a glitch in the Verdant Brink map where my ranger was endlessly spinning on a mushroom.

A lot of players don’t go into maps where attitudes rule because of high-strung group dynamics. I wish they would find a way to make the raid content available to the casual to mid-skill player while keeping the raid style for the players that like it. Basically a explorable PvE mode instance for the raid maps. That way both types of players could have access to the content that is important to the story of the game and the high strung players wouldn’t freak about players who don’t meet their expected skill/build level.

The maps are there, the contents is there, it’s a matter of presenting it in another way.

I personally don’t go into raids, dungeons, PvP, etc because I just don’t want to deal with the group dynamics of high-strung players plus I don’t want to rush thru content. I like to explore it. I feel going slow thru content makes you appreciate the work put into it more.

Gem prices have doubled in price.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Tekoneiric.6817

Tekoneiric.6817

The gem store contains nothing thats needed to play the game.
Its essentially all discressionary items that players want but dont need.
For games without monthly subs, Anet has to get its revenue from the gem store, and if people dont want to buy gems with real money, then the in game exchange rate between gems and gold must go up.

While most items on the gem store aren’t needed, bank expansion is essential for gathering and storage of materials needed for crafting. One bank slot and 250 material storage is hardly enough for materials needed to level in crafting. It would be difficult for a player to accumulate enough materials with such restrictions. Those don’t go on sale enough.

I’ve bought my share of gem cards to support the game. I wish bank expansion was somehow immune to the fluctuation in gem prices; maybe either swapping them to gold/karma/laurels or with it’s price going up and down with gem prices to keep it with in reach of those players that can’t afford to go out and purchase gem cards. The rest of the stuff on there isn’t critical for the game.

Ironically with the gathering tools on the gem store being so much more expensive relatively to gold now it’s better for players to just purchase orichalcum tools from vendors. They just need to be stackable. It would be nice if the unlimited gathering tools could be crafted and the animation effects purchased on the gem store a skins. I think they would sell more as skins at 500 gems.

the crazy gold price is caused by players exchanging gold for gems, but not many exchanging gems for gold. it is constantly in flux because the pool of gems is not infinite, as some people seem to think.

the rise this time is probably caused by the new glider skin being released, as well as the aviator sunglasses return.

They have release a lot of new stuff before and it didn’t go up this much. In real world economies governments have to step in sometimes to put a break on things. If a real world economy had such a rampant inflation it would crash. ANet needs to put in counter measures to fix the problem. One thing they could do is put buying gems cards on sale. People would rush out to buy them and the price of gems would drop. Basically if you buy an item on the gem store it’s doubled in price. Harvesting items for example now are the equivalent of 2000 gems compared to the prices 2 months ago.

I don’t want to spend the time gathering people together to play the game, I want to spend time PLAYING the game on my own terms.

This pretty much sums up everything that I dislike about the game.

I’m mostly a solo player myself. I’ll occasionally join a party in a boss fight but find the ego conflicts in places like dungeons and PvP to be massively annoying. It’s also annoying that ANet is pushing people towards group events. I wish I could go into some of the raid, PVP and other maps just to explore but those are so geared up for groups. I would like to see those maps be unlocked for explorable mode for players of average skill level.

The only long story instances were the last one in VB, Rata Novus, and the final story instance. The entire HoT story line can be completed within 4 hours on any class.

This is really subject to a lot of factors. Not all players have perfect dexterity. Even skilled players have problems with some things but not others. Everyone is different I personally wouldn’t assume that every player can do it in the same amount of time. Some might fly thru it in 3 hours others might take 16.

For myself I sometimes fly thru things others find difficult but some things for me are difficult that others fly thru.

What stories missions do you feel are too long. IMO the length isn’t too bad with most ranging from 10 to maybe 20 minutes.

The final chapter of HoT is fairly long. Once you are at the Enter the chasm you have to finish it out. Length of the story depends on players skills, character builds and weapons. Not everyone is capable of rushing through a story in a short time. Everyone is different. I don’t consider myself a great player but decent enough. I did the story to take out Zhaitan alone. When I got to the defeat Mordremoth end stage I had to break out of the game. That really needs a marker to restore the player to that point because the sections previous to it are somewhat lengthy. Of course the location isn’t really important because as I previously mentioned not everyone has the same abilities. I’m better than some, worse than others. I know people who play the game but getting to that are would be daunting at best. If ANet wants people to play the stories they need to accommodate players who can’t do it all at once or even at the same skill level. I’m sure there are plenty of older players or even disabled players who would have problems at completing any of the chapters at one go. Section saves are needed.

I bought it, but was sorely unimpressed with the(lack of) animation. It feels almost unfinished to me. Very wooden, almost like it started loading and then froze halfway through.

I agree. They should have made it a bit more seamless to the electric glider. In some respects it looks a little odd the way the character is leaning with a wooden expression especially when stopped. A lot odd when stopped with that strange wooden look next to another character or NPC. It should definitely turn off or go to a floating zen meditating position when stopped and resume when moving.

One thing I would like to see them do is make it allow the player to float across water.

Tekoneiric.6817

I’m sure my tone on this post is going to come across as a bit irritated but for the life of me I can’t fathom why the devs would make long drawn out chapters in stories with many sections and not give players save points at those sections.

There are many reasons why a player would need to drop out of the game for various reasons; let’s saying family issues, sleep, work, power outages, etc. The reason isn’t important as life happens. Of course dropping out of a long drawn out chapter in Guild Wars 2 HoT will force the player to have to redo the entire chapter again rather than picking up where they left off.

I wonder if the devs were inspired by the report of someone who has a game console that they had powered up for decades because they didn’t want to loose their place. I wonder if in a dev meeting someone said it would be funny to step the players back to the ’80s and make the players repeat as much of a long drawn out storyline as they could possibly get away with.

Not everyone has the time, stamina or general wherewithal to complete an entire chapter at one sitting. It would be nice if someone at ANet would step up and fix this (hopefully just a) oversight and allow players to complete sections and pick up where they left off. They could do this in the story panel or as symbolic save tokens in the inventory.

I got it but it would be better if it was setup in the wardrobe like the glider and they setup a hotkey to turn it on/off instead of taking over the weapons slots. It should automatically turn off during combat but overtaking the weapons slot is annoying. Honestly it’ll probably be like the flying carpet I bought. I’ll play with it a bit then shove it in my bank. Even the glider needs a hotkey because there is time when it gets in the way.

Easiest Profession?

Tekoneiric.6817

I would say a ranger. You get the pet, it’s less complicated and you get a 2nd weapon set. The bow does decent damage for a starter character. I would suggest a sword and war horn as alternate weapon. The only thing that bugs me about the ranger and probably other characters is that using a bow generally means you would have an advantage on the high ground but not in GW2 unless your pet is at the lower area with your target.

I prefer female norn characters. I tried to run a char once and all the huffing and puffing along with the sluggish movement drove me nuts. He jumped to his death off the lighthouse in LA and was resurrected as a female asura engineer.

Tekoneiric.6817

PvE is fine the way it is. When I’m stressed from real life issues I like farming the Shiverpeaks maps because they tend to be less visually cluttered. Not everyone goes into games for competition. GW2 is a good in that it allows players to choose how much competition they want. I just wish there was more of a way for players to build things like in an account homestead. It would be nice for more missions to assist at supplying materials to build/repair structures.

It would be nice if they would reintroduce the monk class back into the world but have them be a profession designed less for violence and more for healing/resolving conflicts; only using violence as a last resort. I don’t have a problem with game violence but I think it would be a nice change and make for more complex stories.

I’ve always thought the engineer is too short on weapons. Aside from kits the only long range weapon is the rifle and it’s more of a mid-range plus it’s too slow. Engineers being a technical profession rather than magical should be able to use any non-magical weapon. A warhorn could have a concussive blast as one of the skills. Attitude problems at fail world bosses

Tekoneiric.6817

I’ve been running in successful Tequatl maps for the last few months, I know the mechanics and don’t appreciate the ’we’re not asking you to do this, we’re telling you’ attitude I got from the recent attempt today.

My favourite class is Ele, and I’ve found I’m more suited to defensive teams / turrets as I’m typically never downed by anything there. And really, telling someone to rack off from defensive, or they’re not needed? Any other time people are begging for hills and boat teams.

People want to start crying and abusing other players, that’s fine. I just laugh and do Teq at daily reset. Don’t be surprised if you can’t get the numbers if yall gonna get abusive.

Dungeons are way worse than world bosses. Parties are usually only for L80s experienced with that dungeon. I joined a party a couple of days ago trying to learn that dungeon and the party I was with all vanished to another part of the dungeon via waypoint then freaked when I wasn’t right with them. They were drawing all over the radar view and getting somewhat hostile. I just left. This is why I don’t go into things like dungeons, PvP and raids. World boss fights are nothing. Some of the people with tags do let it go to their heads sometimes but they are easier to ignore in open world areas.

I really wish GW1 style henchmen were an option for single players who want to go into those areas without a party. ANet tends to strongly shove people into the social aspect of the game not thinking that many people just like to explore. I think using your other characters as henchmen would be awesome in dungeons or raids. I like story areas that use NPCs as sort of henchmen.

Adding 2g to the daily was really silly imo. I don’t see why it was needed as all it’s done is cause huge inflation on EVERY SINGLE ITEM in the game. Every account just adds 2g more to the economy per day with very little effort.

2 gold is nothing. It’s the price of crafting materials that has things going crazy. The mid-grade wood and metals are selling like crazy. I used to farm for the higher materials but have shifted to middle grade wood/metal because of the prices. 2 gold a day doesn’t even compare to how much you can make farming. 2 gold just covers waypoint jumps and odd incidentals like salvage kits.

I’m just not converting gold to gems until things settle down or I really need something. I make quite a bit of gold without really much effort. I don’t even sell the blues and green drops now, I just salvage them. I even salvage some of the yellow drops for the ecto.

You get rewards for map completes with each character. It saves you from having to purchase transmutation charges plus you get keys sometimes too. What I wouldn’t mind is for all the waypoints to be available account wide once you have been there done that.

I wish they would tier the hearts shifting them into map events after the 1st tier. The commune ones could give you boons once a day when you revisit them. The harder to get to the better the boon could be.

What I think they should do is have players designate one character as their primary which gets a homestead and the other characters on the account basically live on the homestead. Have it where they are NPCs in it if they were parked there.

Homesteads could be something like Cragstead on Wayfarer Foothills. It would act like the current home instance but nodes would be transferred to it and you could purchase upgrades. You could give people access via a list and they could visit when your not home. A homestead would give you space to put in a small farm of nodes and maybe a way to display your weapons, armor and achievements.

You don’t need to do the story to get to the Heart of Thorns areas. There is a portal in the southwest corner of the Silverwastes that connects to Verdant Brink – just walk through like any other zone.

The portal is blocked until you do the story. I took someone thru the story this weekend and it kind of glitched so we had to redo it. Even though she had got the waypoints on Verdant Brink she still couldn’t use the portal to VB until she finished the story.

That should be “until at least one character on the account has done the prologue”. [/quote]
