all a lfg does is put you in contact with other people. find ones you like running with befriend them and run with them again at a later date.

my fav are still the big skritt bomb and the support siege ideas(even though some parts are similar to the new wvw abilites) i do love all my ideas those just seemed the most fun. Still would love to see a group escorting a slow moving bomb runner to make a sapper run on a wall or gate and watch the other side scramble to stop them

maybe some legendary kits graphics based on the equipped legendary.

However would need to be restricted to the same terrain as the legendary so equip an aquatic legendary and you only see the legendary kits while underwater.

i know it would be more art pieces but would be a nice bonus to being an engineer. even a generic set of legendary kits for any legendary equipped would be nice.

a guildie suffered some recent account issues in the last 30 minutes and we directed him to make a ticket on the support section.

However its running so slow he can not create an account there. Myself and other guildes have tried loading the support page and it is taking minutes to fully display. any other section of the website load in under a second for us.

anyone else having these issues? any suggestions as to how our guildie can get his account lockout resolved when the normal channels are clogged?(not being sarcastic seriously asking if there is a backup system)

You can throw orbs often until they hit something…? Maybe I always detonate them just out of some kind of compulsion but I seem to recall the 2 second recharge only occurring when I miss.

Anyway, since I use staff all the time (mostly for the speed boost and occasional line of force, when it actually pays off anyway) I don’t have too many complaints about it, but I can’t disagree that symbol of swiftness is bugged and needs fixing. Yeah, it has a short range 1 skill, but if it didn’t it would make it difficult to justify taking scepter.

Well, OK. Not so difficult in WvW.

Yes you are detonating. And as that’s a heal very little reason to do it. Just dont get too excited and hammer the 2 key. You will find a pretty good long range weapon especially since they sped the orb up

So if I get this mechanic right you exist normally in the present which fluxuates your damage. But you activate the past to build up cahrges on the future so you can do bonus damage?

Sounds wonky and very little reason to cripple yourself so often just to spike damage.

Each aspect should benifit you now. Try present nuetral bit every x seconds generates a charge on past and future. Personally I wouls say entering past aspect shoild up damage and lower defense and crits in it add charges to future. In future you dmg is down but defense is up and again crits charge past.

Reasoning future lets them see and counter enemy movements before it happens. A more defensive stance as the future is mutable and they must ward against many possible attacks. Looking to the past lets them pinpoint openings and strike but doing so leaves them more open to damage.

As for armor go with heavy. Just change the name. Chronomancer invokes final fantasy images of a light Armor mage. Try Seer, Prophet, or Oracle. Denote a warrior who uses their ability to glimpse future events and manipulate the resent past in thier favor in combat. Prehaps even a luck based skill set that enhances allied crit chance, blinds opponents (forcing them to miss thru time manipuatives) or other changes to condition duration.

This should set it apart from warrior and Guardian as well as all the rest and give its own archtype. A mutable class able to shift highly offensive to defense mid battle while seeking to control chances of crit and hits. As well as other control of flow.

Please flesh out more if you want disvussed. Atm far to vague. Give us what weapons you think it should have. What is its profession mechanic and how does it play out. What buffs and debuffs does it favor.

As stated mesmer does contain a fair number of temporal skills. However if you can give chrono a unique way to play that won’t matter.

Few utlity skill ideas for you

Rewind: heal skill removes a condition and heals
Time shear: elite causes an overlapping field of fast and slow time fields that tears at the enemy. Deals damage and strips boons. For each boon strippef applys 2 stacks of bleed
…are doomed to repeat it: utlity adds stacks to a condition already on target.
Dilation field: halts all enemy projectiles while active. Will continue after expires so you better move.
Dust to dust:teleport to down enemy and start finisher. In pve teleport to enemy with <25% health do double damage. Acts like pve version if no downed player nearby

What do you guys think of this.

Today: Keeps/towers/camps rewards your server a fixed number of points every (15min, cant remember the exact number atm =P)

The future: Every time you kill a player your server gets 1 victory point.
Every time you kill a player in proximity to your servers tower you get 2 VPs, keep 3 VPs.

Does this sounds like fun?
Imagine how this will change how we play WWW.
Attacking an uppgraded keep with a zerg would be a risk, your deaths will reward the defender. You need to really siege them out before charging in, area denial, attack players heading towards the keep.

But the biggest thing it would change is, killing players would reward your server with victory points.
Everyone helps, roamers, zergers, keep protectors, gankers.., every PvPer will be important, not just the PvDoor players.

And it wouldnt be a big change either, since all towers/keeps have a area of effect already, for its buffs, just make it include a buff that gives you the extra VPs for a kill.

Sounds interesting?
How do you see WWW chaning if this was in effect?
Is it doable, or is it to hard for ANet to put in/change?

This would encouage spawn camping. The last two changes were to discourage it, breakout events and newly spawned players worth little to no wxp. Highly doubt they will add something that runs counter to this.

This suggestion is to help mostly with working with random people you team up with at various points. While I would love to see this applied to enemy fields also, getting it on friendly fields would be helpful.

Give the appearance of the white border on the field the ability to function as a rough time. There would be two ways of seeing this done that would be ideal. First would be to have the border start out bright white and fade to Grey as the time ran down. Second would be to add a 1 to 2 second warning to the graphic, like have it become a dotted line, just before it ends.

This would let you tell at a glance if that field over there is worth trying to get to our is it going to disappear before I can utilize it. Should also help wild pugs to coordinate more effectively without having to rely on all being on a voice chat.

As stated before this would be wonderful for boss fights that use a lot of fields to know if those overlapping fields are all new or fading.

Yes a lot of fields in this game have animations but not all do our give you a good sense of tier duration unless you happened to see it go up. I e I just swung my camera around and notice a Allied healing field behind me (I’m melee) this would let me know nearly instinctively if that field is new or nearly gone and worth making a run for.

Personally I would prefer the two stage system.

On the barrels maybe some warm cold mechanic for when you do find barrels.

Personally I would prefer taunting notes from sotzz that give you a rough Idea if he is close or far away. But leave it up to the community to figure out which taunts mean he is close

Devs have commented that 1st person is being evaluated becuase so many skills in the game do not work from a 1st person view.

how do you deal with thief leaps? or the disorientation of whipping around a character doing that snake strike? etc

its not as simple as just letting you zoom all the way in as Irondog is implying.

Personally i would say best way would be issue a town clothes ‘weapon’ that is a camera. when you use the ability of the camera it zooms you all the way in to first person. Allows for great screenshots and could be used in some jump puzzles put could be easily weapons swap back to combat mode if the need arose.

course i prefer the situational awareness of 3rd person even in JP, would use it strictly as i said, a camera to take screenshots.

One major flaw. Other than the brokeness of just joining as many guilds as possible just to create obsene amounts of influence to make everything irrelevant.

The one major flaw is logistics. You belong to guilds a b and c. I belong to c f and t. Another person belongs to t r and s. You and I talk in guild chat and understand each other. But the other person only sees my part of the conversation. Now imagine a few hundred half conversations at once. It would be purely useless

Plus you do know you only earn influence while working with guild mates right? If you are running with them why not just rep anyway

Legendary Armors - one way it could be done

To me Legendary armor pieces should be as epic as the weapons but not just individually.

Disclaimer: This following idea could be applied in general, not specifically to legendary tier, if the worry was a one and done set of armor for ever since legendary tier will always be exual to the top tier. please stick to discussing the concept behind the armors not the stats or how it would be obtained. To this end i am going to refer to the armor sets as Fused for this posts needs.

What i envision for these armor sets is that the 6 individual armor pieces will act as the precursors. each with its own unique and highly stylized over the top presence. But the true magic happens when you would wear all 6 at one time. Your character would stand transformed in some way related to the armor’s theme. The character model is some cases just replaced.

Example: Say the armor set is called Kraitskin Armor. a medium set. Each piece shows reptialian styles and is crested with lizard frills(those things on the top of the kraits heads) fangs and talons would also be prominent. When fully combined the armor would transform your character model replacing its lower legs with a krait-like body and motion. the rest of the armor would be similarly augmented to make the lines between the armor and wearer non existent. Essentially make it look fused to the body.

Yes this would require several unique models but isn’t that the point of an armor of this caliber? In fusing the original race to the armor you would be able to establish one male and one female armor for each race and not worry about the players choices to their appearance. Ideally the model would have dye able channels to continue unique looks even if a few people in the area have it.

Another fun way to play on this would be to essentially design one of these armors themed to each race. For example the elemental armor could shift to display the current elemental attunement. The kraitskin armor could be shifted more snake like and be used for a rogue. Or it could be an armor whose pieces leave plenty of exposed skin, then when completed the players skin is replaced with one that looks like flowing smoke.

Necromancers could get Dreadlord armor that would reverse the knee caps so they had goat/chicken legs, the arms extended to be far longer than normal with longer taloned fingers. Perhaps even a cloak flowing from the shoulders that resembles folded wings(like the cartoon gargoyles used to do)

There are many possibilities. Please post your own ideas for armor sets transformations as well

Problem with the tokens being added to collectables is that they could not be seen from anywhere, only when you go to your bank or crafting table.
Solution would be to make a separate tab on the character screen listing all the different in-game currencies. This would also solve any complaints about sorting/organizing all the new currencies coming into the game.

Also Rangers should have the use of all ranged weapons, not just bows. I’m a ranger and I can’t use a pistol or rifle but by Jove I can use a greatsword >,>

the main argument against pistol and bow is 1 they dont want to. 2 they are noisy and don’t fit the attuned to nature theme. Ranger is more to do with naturalist and survival training then it does just ranged weapons.

If they haven’t banned people (and I believe even stated that they do not care) for doing that for free blc keys, they won’t start banning people for this.

time difference and cash difference. am i saying its likely? probably not but unless they say like they did with the keys why even risk your account when you can use the same 5 characters each day to grab 2 bubbles and usually at least 50 baubles(grab the key at the start and carry it to the second chest for 20) means 11 bubbles a day in under 30 minutes.

You can get all the skins without any extra hassle. I just don’t see the point of making 20 more toons to sell off a few skins that i can’t use just to make a couple gold that I could make just playing normally in the same time. And have even the remotest chance of it banning my account.

and 2 if you are making toons that often you are looking to cash in by selling them. start flooding the market and you shouldnt be surprised.

i do admit they are unlikely to do anything to you if you are keeping the skins. but try and capitilize and you may just tempt fate there. why risk it?

Would definitely make for an interesting new wvw zone. A sky based dog fight. Could also work for a new event like snowball battle. Just use underwater mechanics with players using various ‘vehicles’ to launch and join the fight.

Its not very grindy considering each cage boss you face gets you 2 bubbles = 500 baubles.
And you can do that once per day per character. Seems fairly easy to get at least 1 skin if not more just in averaging 1 zone per day

I got a g13 recently and was slightly disappointed that there was a spot for wvw scores but It’s constantly unavailable. There is also no way to see all the zone info just the first 3.

Please please give some lcd love. A lot of it just feels like place holder info that could be so great

I am waiting for charr war engines to make it into WVW.

hop in and you treat it like a weapons pack, set of 5 new skills, and your utility skills locked out(or maybe vehicle generic).

Not necessarily a speed boost needed but would be nice to have several people ‘man’ it. first is a driver and other occupy weapons controls.

10+ man dungeons, classes, skills

oh no no 10+ man content. at least nothing instanced. I am fine with the stuff in world that is built in mind with 20-30 people at least showing up like the dragons.

But larger raids have always been the bane of my MMO existance for the simple fact i have a life and a job. I would get to run raids in past games if i was luck once a month( and thats before marriage when i could game every day) they take far too long to get everyone there and set up. sorry but most people don’t have time for a 4-6 hour event that raids genreally devolve into with an hour of just getting all together and determining who is going and then actually slogging thru the content for the next hour or so(more if there is any wipes). It just flies in the face of how the devs have stated they want the game to be something you can pick up for 20-30 min and put down again. and yes it unlikely you would go for a dungeon in that time but it is possible to run and clear a dungeon in under 30 minutes.

do not cut off content from players simpley becuase they dont have the endless free time or commitment to be in a large enough guild that can man 10,20 or 40 man raid dungeons

Expanding WvW objectives

A recent discussion in my guild over how WvW should be grown to include larger objectives of various types inspired by various mmos.

I personally suggested what we need is not more strongholds or items that we look to control during certain times more than anything else, instead we need high risk high reward objectives that are difficult to defend. The biggest part is that they shouldn’t give you anything towards your score, but a tactical advantage.

To me this was like the Xelnaga towers in SC2. Get units near it and you gain a larger field of view but not usually easy to hold onto for long with out serious investment.

If we were to first increase the radius that we can see friendly dots on the map, to say absolutely no more than 1/4 the map, we could make tracking allied movements easier beyond just commander icons. We then in several Scrying Towers thru out the maps. these would have a small control circle at the base. stay in it and you would gain for your side the ability to see red dots on the map as well for a limited range(was thinking between 2/3rds treb range and treb range) Leave the circle and it would slowly lose focus and become neutral.
(aside:personally i would say limit who can see the red dots to who is in the circle. would make defending it a more active and rewarding venture. that way you cant just park someone afk there and everyone gets the benifit. you could have people relaying info and troop movements. this strike me as more in line with the comments Colin made about wvw needing more reason to employ forces of scouts)

Therefore you would gain a tactical advantage for the immediate area. One that would theoretically would promote defending actively without involving rotating balls of zerg crashing over it. yet would also be enough of a tactical piece that denying your opponents control of it and keeping it for yourself would be a priority.

to my thinking this would help break up the giant zerg balls, as if you can see a large force coming you will move out of the way. this would entice people to have several smaller zergs running over just one or two containing 70%+ of the map population.

Also i would suggest that using invis would hide your red dot on the map, making organized and skilled groups able to chain veils and the like to sneak a force thru a monitored area and surprise the other side.

Edit: forgot to mention these Scry Towers should be more ‘out in the open’ structures with maybe a little natural terrain defense but otherwise no walls. They should also be locate in the wilderness between camps,towers and keeps not where their range would let you see the defenders inside(or allow the defenders to keep tabs on if anyone is at the base of their walls, that should still be that locals defenders job)

Any chance while we are at it if we could add a summary for the last combat? Would be great to be able to look at the combat log and after you leave combat, it lists the time in combat and how much of each damage type was dealt to you and by you. Maybe even number of blocks and evades could be useful. And heals on both sides of course

The log is useful at times for looking at one or two hits but most times the summary is what we need. Taking time with a calculator dissuades often.

And say you leave combat during a fought for what ever reason you just add the summaries

Jeffery I have a request for the future!

First, I love scavenger hunts and mysteries so I hope more of these are put into the game later.

However, could you guys put in hints and clues around the world for these items. o we can have things to find/discover/learn from. With such a low drop rate and not having any clues to go on, we could be doing the wrong event for dozens of months and not be any closer to the weapon.

Lore related clues involving books, codes, hidden messages, and secret passageways would be amazing.

Thanks for your hints you’ve given us so far, though!

There are some, for example in a Whispers hide out in lornar’s pass I found a memner who talked about a hidden cave and treasure in the lake. Exploring that lead lead to griffonrook run. I have seen several other clues too. I generally try talking to named npcs they often have info about thier area. Sometimes more. Also look for the runes. They have a direct translation to English. If you have never noticed look atLA fountain base. Several sites have translators. One even has an android app. Was warned of traps by these once

I really can’t give out any hints or information, especially since anything I say is going to be intensely analyzed. So I’m going to play it safe and not comment on the size of the boss, the chest, or the rarity of the boss. I will confirm that I looked in the game data and traced the item to its loot table to the chest that uses the loot table to the event that spawns the chest to make sure everything is set up. I can also confirm that it has a very low drop rate, so running the event 5 times or 10 times proves nothing.

Could I request two things?
First could you tell us of any other weapons that have a similar drop chance? Could help us to grasp how rare it is.

Second could you plead to your bosses to let you (and maybe a few others) visit Lions arch with it equipped for a little while to show it off. If you happen to stand facing in the general direction of the map the event is in then we can at least narrow or search to less than every zone. Even eliminating a couple zones helps.

My favorite is all the ones that have semi hidden entances. I delight in showing guildies the entrances. Especially the non-jp mini jp tomb tucked away in west sparkfly fen just past the vista up on the ridge. We spent a good 20 minutes pooring over any and every nook and cranny with many emotes looking for anything at its ‘end’

Or the vacant jp in AC with the invisible beams.

I enjoy the non jp puzzles and locals as much as those with actual rewards at the end

But gotta ask do you as Devs find little rooms or areas that you didn’t know existed?

Nice Ideas,

Barricades sound plausible but could be a problem that cheap, sides would just pile the entrances with them, would have to be more costly to put up or far easier to knock down

mortars i would be against simply as they are already part of the upgrades for keeps and some towers.

the underwater ram seems a little pointless, as there is really nothing to use it on

Minefields i like i actually have an idea on being able to apply an upgrade to arrowcarts to deploy it

and a shielded ram is generally called a Turtle. 4 people on it to amp dmg sounds nice but only one person would be clicking to attack meaning the other 4 would be sitting at thier screens watching with nothing to do. not exactly fun and thus unlikely to make it in. Being able to have an upgraded flame ram that could have a destrucable canopy on it to soak up very least projectiles if not also aoe(not sure the engine can allow it) would be fun
Airships while sounding cool would be a little unbalanced. Perhaps have it as an upgrade that if you control garrison as well as the bay and hill keeps you could have an airship or 2 run shuttle service. smaller zepplins that would fly low enough that you could drop from it and live would be ideal, allow for some transport without being locked into the ride. and defenitly destructable so they would need to fly quite low. again this is highly doubtful to end up in game but plausable.

the thing about interest is that the bank gives it to you in real life so you will put your money in thier hands. Once there they do all sorts of stuff with it like give loans, invest it in other things and pay interest. That motivation of interest is there to keep you from not using your money so they can use it elsewhere.

In game economy has no need for a bank to “buy” your money from you, so there is a break in the game economy if you would give gold for nothing.

In games its all about making sure the gold being generated doesnt outpace the gold being destroyed. i say destroyed not spent. Destroyed is when no player controls it, so you buy something from an npc that gold is destroyed, you buy something from a player on the TP and it is spent and continues to float in the economy.

game economies fail most often simply because they cater to the players desire for more money and then the currency loses all value as many gain way too much, forcing price up on the markets and driving new players away who have not had a chance to exploit the system and gain exorbitant amounts of cash.

you havnt used a staff while using the traits to make Justice proc on the 4th hit and that when it does its a fire aoe have you?

there is plenty of ways to play, sometimes its more in how you apply them then in straight up number crunch. I have been told i should die alot with my build but i use it in wvw to anchor my sides pushes by darting in throwing up walls of reflection and using my staff to hammer a hole in the other side allowing my side to push in behind me.

they were working on one but in interviews, i believe it was colin, it was said that it had morphed into something even bigger and to keep our eyes open and of course we will see it when its ready

Support siege

The one i have in mind now would be an asuran ammo manufacturing station
This would only take a little supply to set up 20-30 and would allow the user to create additional ammo types that can be delivered to siege to give it a few shots of special ammo.
This could be implemented in two ways, one is to have it create boxes that players can pick up and run to the siege and apply it. the second is to give it a range and a targeted ability that it focuses on the weapon and applies the upgrade(either in charges or as long as its channeled on it)

The actual upgrades could be along certain types. Explosive, toxic, and electric are my starting ideas(feel free to flesh out others)
Explosive upgrades would vary based on what they are applied to. Trebs would gain access to a shot that hits the ground and pops out several smaller bombs for additional damage(preferably would like to see this geared as an anti personal attack) while arrow carts could be modified to fire out arrows that hit and act like a small minefield, perhaps each shot firing out 4-5 mines that land randomly in a targeting ring the size of the regular attack. Rams could gain a mine field as well or perhaps a boosted damage to its normal attack(the option to do both would be awesome). Golems gain a grenade launcher obviously.

Toxic upgrades would be for only a few items. Rams could gain a toxic fog that they could spray continually until the charges are used up. Golems could also benefit from a toxic aoe centered on them, down side would be to use it they would become immobile and entered their hunkered down box state.

The electric attacks could also add some variance. Cats could launch Pylons that would act as mini Telsa coils, the catch being they would have a very short range for self defense but if you placed 2 near each other say 400-600 range they would form an electric barrier between them that would damage and cripple anything passing thru them. Ballistia could gain a lightning rod like bolt that would hit and cast chain lightning at any target withing close rage

To create some balance each weapon set the depot would make would decrease its health slightly, unlike other siege however you would be able to apply more supply to it in order to repair it. The thought being that you are exhausting the building materials within the depot but adding more supply would give it more raw materials to work with.

there are other ways to apply the effects to additional weapons but these are just some off the top of my head
