i feel the hammer, bows, shield and focus could all use some more love.

The hammer feels sloppy. The head of the hammer should be outfacing not down facing.

Imagine instead the wolf like heads being perpendicular to the grip instead of parallel to it. It would have enabled far more detail work to go in making the product look and feel better than it is.

Yes it requires you to be in an organized group, not server blob. But it works and works well.

You bring every field your group needs as well as substantial damage allowing you to bully out lighter classes and force valuable cooldowns.

The closed beta is not a chance for you to play the new content, it’s a chance for anet to have their new content TESTED. There is a difference. If a person burns out doing this activity they are probably not going to repeat the same activity multiple times in the beta to see if you can get the same random bug to happen.

Most likely, that type of person (who burns out) would hop onto the beta rush through whatever content they have available this build and then quit once they’ve done it all or hit a bug that prevents them from going further. That is not the kind of testers they need.

The issue still comes down to the selection method. There’s 0 way to show that player A who did 1 event and got lucky is better suited or qualified than player B who did 1000 events and has only silky sand to show for it.

It’s a matter of finding a happy medium such as everyone can participate, or go out and play the game completing x content y amount of times.

This essentially is the same complaint people had during the first beta selection process only this time instead of it being a newsletter, its a random drop.

So you want to beta new content, which is most likely PVE content but you don’t want to PVE to gain access to it?

I’ve played every game mode and PVP is the most toxic out of all of them..

Oh boy this argument again.

Every mode has toxicity, you only notice it more frequently in PvP because of the competitive nature.

Dungeon, LFG tool, and open world farming events all have their fair share of toxicity.

The OP is not wrong in his suggestion. Having the item drop from these two specific zones wasn’t really the wisest idea, nor was having an RNGdrop for Beta Access. However, those are the breaks. Maybe next time there will be another method that’s more suited to the OPs liking.

TL;DR – It’s a minion, it should function like one.

Sadly Engie minions still aren’t smart enough to be mobile even though we have invented wheels and propulsion.

1 ) With the change to player/gear stat allocation, traits and skills, should we be looking forward to WvW skill / trait specific tuning and balance or is WvW going to remain under the PvE specific skill/trait balance ?

2) Under the current system, upon leveling up we gain skill points, with the change can WvW players still expect progression via leveling up ? (Hero Points etc…)

3) In the blog post a specialization was hinted at giving players defiance bars, how readily accessible is this (IE only one specialization / not an AoE, PBAoE) or can we expect this to be limited / not included in WvW ?

New Party Kicking Mechanic is Unfair!

This could be a fix: upon a kick request, all the other party members should vote for that kick, so, if you have a friend in the party, then you won’t get kicked no matter what as all the other 4 votes need to be against that player

simple, clean, no hassle and no issues arising from this…

except that it does still cause problems.

That’s why it was changed to a simple majority in the first place.

First off this isn’t WoW.

Secondly if you’ve taken two weeks to hit 80, you’re not playing the game as its supposed to be played. Stop running around killing creatures aimlessly and go zone complete, craft and experience the other aspects of the game.

1-80 can be done on a brand new account and character in under 1 week. I’ve had several new guildmates come and complain that leveling feels too easy….All because they took the time to ask the right questions about the game.

How about a WvW tournament?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

TexZero.7910

WvW tournaments are and will always be a bad idea.

All it does is promote tanking and bandwagons which only go to devalue the actual experience of playing.

If they want to do something for WvW players they can actually look into addressing major issues like hackers, fixing their server populations and server stability. Then look into actually balancing the mode separately of PvP and PvE like they said they would do at launch.

Once they’ve done those small things they can go about polishing the experience by actually making the titles and loot meaningful and worth going after.

Until they manage to fix up all of that, i hope we never see another season. After all the past 3 seasons have been major flops.

Proposed Changes for Engineer Turrets

in PvP

Posted by: TexZero.7910

TexZero.7910

I feel the comparison to necro minions is pretty much a bad idea.

While they are both AI they have very distinct and different gameplay patterns meaning they should be fought and countered differently.

Turrets are static world placements, where as necro minions are anchored to the center of the caster.

To me this means that the ideal way to allow for counterplay of turrets would be to give them an activation/deactivation radius. This allows them to still be zone control bullies, but not mobile point defense.

This is where i feel the first place to start is, followed by allowing critical hits. Condi’s however is really taking the comparison too far as the turret spec was already susceptible to heavy condition pressure classes.

TL;DR – Half the solution is okay, the other half is pandering to more viable “condition” builds using equality as a means when the two items in question never will be equal.

Proposing turret activation/deactivation radius and timer instead.

Stronghold, a Plus for Premades

Posted by: TexZero.7910

TexZero.7910

Giving my own feedback since all the threads are likely to be merged anyway.

I’ll start of by saying i loved the mode/map however it does need some obvious tweaks.

1) Match timer, this either should be extended to 25/30 minutes or remove it in favor of just having it first to complete the objective.

2) Hero buffs are reducing far more than 50% of incoming damage. There was time when players inside the circle were taking as low as 300 damage from a zerker thief.

3) AoE limitations, because this map has a big influx of “additional AI” the artificially lowered AoE cap of 5 is hindering actual teamfights as your damage is hitting mobs and not players. This sort of interaction only makes people feel like there’s too much PvE

4) Minimap is well, lack luster. The art needs to better define lanes and areas which players can traverse. Additionally on map art assets for rats/birds needs to be cleaner.

5) Hero’s abilities need to be balanced. Having a hero who has a pbaoe knockdown is silly when the other does not. The hero’s should have identical abilities so the mode can accurately be balanced.

6) Lets talk respawn cycle. Respawning need to be exponential. As is there really is no punishment for death as you revive far too quickly. I know this may lead to more defensive play but at the same time its needed to break up the zerg hive mind. This should also allow for a more unique meta to evolve in this gamemode.

The good news is, that it is unranked and doesn’t really count for anything. Most teams who play unranked are just being experimental, or are groups who aren’t playing seriously.

I would suggest you instead try to just focus on making the game fun, win or lose. For instance, I regularly bring Ice Bow on my Zerker ele and consider it a good game to land at least 1 deep freeze followed by blowing up some fool.

This adding to it groups that are just like the solo players, still learning.

So all have to transfer to SFR to play EotM?
Already to many do that, why do you want to increase it?
People are in EotM because they want to be in EotM and not in WvW, closing EotM will not bring any player to WvW.

Why should they be in an overflow map when the normal maps are right there for playing ?

Why should they be rewarded more for playing said mode which does less than nothing for their server than those actually playing WvW.

The entire design of EoTM is absurd. Personally i cannot wait until they gut it.

As someone who does PvP both solo and on a team, i’ll give you my view on VoIP.

It’s not needed.

The only thing one needs to improve is basic teamwork. IE not falling victim to common misconceptions like (dont push far) etc.

There’s a very good quote from another product. It’s better that all 5 players follow a bad call than give 5 different calls and react to the enemies playbook.

Same thing with GW2’s arena, only the best part is you only need your minimap and UI to determine how to appropriately act.

Are voice coms nice ? Sure, but they are far from game changing. In fact most of the teams you talk about probably are sitting around on coms cracking off jokes instead of making actual calls.

I would add to the buttons to queue for hotjoin and unranked a small option panel you can open with a button on the corner of their queu buttons. Similar to the chat and inventory options. Click on one, a small list with checkboxes pops, and you can pick the game modes you want to queue for:

  • Conquest.
  • Annihilation.
  • Stronghold.

Uncheck the ones you don’t want, and you’ll queue just for those.

As for ranked, unless they adapt the leaderboards to also filter by map, I would not give the option for it.

100% agree with this.

Would be nice if they’d do this and add more maps.

Once they’ve added more maps then they can eventually rework the slider for Ranked/Competitive play and allow a team to ban out certain maps again once they have a much bigger pool.

Increased Bleeding Stacks

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: TexZero.7910

TexZero.7910

Why in the world are people afraid it’ll break PVP? Full stacks of bleed can be washed off like its nothing, let alone the incoming Resistance Boon. Not to mention, I don’t know anyone who can “easily” stack 25 bleeds in a realistic pvp setting alone. So essentially this will just make it so people can play together. If you get that many stacks from being ganged up on, it’s fine to die… Power players would have had you killed seconds sooner.

100 stacks of bleed will kill you before you can cleanse them on many classes. 1 tick and you’d be dead on an Ele, Thief, or Guardian even, it’s about 13000 damage a tick at that big of a stack with a good amount of condi damage.

And the equivalent amount of focus from non-condition builds wouldn’t kill you before you can cleanse an immobilize? The highest bleed skill in the game is Flurry (warrior sword burst) with 12 bleeds. To hit 100 bleed stacks, you have to have 8 Warriors simultaneously bursting you at a minimum (including the bleed on crit trait).

I’m sorry, but if you eat 8 burst skills simultaneously, you should die stupidly fast. It doesn’t matter what those skills are.

read my edit. This is the situation that concerns me. It’s epidemic when used on a legendary or champion keep lord while the other side is trying to defend it. It’s impossible for 1 person to stack 100 bleeds, it’d be very easy for 40 people to stack 100 bleeds, they’d be able to do it in just a few seconds, and then the epidemics start one shotting people.

I fail to see an issue with this as it’s not a 1 shot. The burst you’re describing would require at fair bit of coordination and setup. Using epidemic in a PvP based arena where in you only have 5 members on a team to begin with already limits how high one can stack conditions.

Even if you do not mean sPvP and mean WvW, this change is actually quite healthy as it adds more depth and options to zerg play and counter play.

TexZero.7910

I’m going to stay away from judging the product on this one. That said i’ll offer my insight into the stress test and how it could have been handled slightly better.

To me the restrictions on just about everything, prevented an actual stress test. You may have resource tested a few items here and there (condi caps / people on map etc) but with only 2/3 area’s (story/wyvern/part of a map) it felt that there was less emphasis on actually player load.

Now i get the idea was to roll out small at first then ramp up, so here’s hoping there’s more ramping up. But it would have been nice if nothing else to do a full load test just open it up to everyone who has gw2. This would have allowed for a more launch like state in which you could have tested both load size and limitations for a more accurate approach.

The other pseudo flaw i came across is, what was there really for players to stress test. This wasn’t an issue for me personally, but i could tell that just after 30 minutes into the first beta wave many people left (judging by my friendslist) and that is because there wasn’t much to hold them in the zone to test.

Anyway i hope to be part of the experience going forward as i enjoyed the stress, mostly because i didn’t go into it with as much reservations. I do hope going forward we get some Stronghold and WvW beta test as well with the same emphasis on play testing and stress testing.

Sounds like Twitch is doing the right thing (emails and forcing PW change) but the question remains how long have the hackers had the data?

It actually surprises me that this even has to be done in todays day in age.

I’m more shocked that from a security standpoint alone game companies do not enforce a password policy that mandates people to change their passwords every 3-4 months. What they change it too is up to them but recycling passwords wouldn’t be allowed if used within the same 8 month span.

Its bs. In combat revenant has 10cd on legend swap. And if you playing him properly you will run out of energy pretty quick. I have looked at few streams and i have seen them on 100% energy pretty much the whole time cause they dont touch utility skills at all. This is now how revenant is supposed to be played

Actually a vast majority of the time you have so much energy regen that you can spam till your hearts content.

It’s kinda a bit on the silly side. You can have near permanant stability in Jalis, or have near 100% uptime on the Hammer PBAoE. The taunt is situational. Additionally the Elite skill energy cost is so low, that you can almost get away with a combo as silly as Elite → AA x4 – > Elite again.
