How to force guildmates play lame specs?

Haven’t found a way. The two sides are too polarizing and people are frequently too stubborn to realize what team based play entails.

Even if you show them videos, give them the math etc.. it comes down to usually 1 thing. That persons desire. It takes a special group of people to be willing to have multiple viable characters and builds. The odds of finding them in a casual guild is about as good as hitting the lottery.

. I’m actually really surprised how poorly a lot of WvW players responded to this week. Players already raged quit before reset even began. Other players rage quit after an hour or two after reset.

You cannot be serious with this sorta statement.

After 3 years of people saying less siege / less golem reliance you are shocked that people outright decided to walk-out on an “event” that promoted something they wanted no part in ?

Do you WvW like at all ?

Well Crystal Desert seems to not tolerate our own players using the exploit.
Right now I am sitting in spawn as a Maguuma guild full of exploit users are spawn camping and near 1 shotting everyone. This is ridiculous and makes the best feature about GW2 a complete joke.

Get off your up-level and go out 1 of the other 2 exits.

You do realize that many of us are not on uplevels and there are times when all exits are blocked, right?

Are you even listening?

This event isn’t working as intended at all and it’s making a mockery of WvW.

As someone from CD.

Kindly, get off your up-level and man up.

I find it comical that this exploit is allowed to exist, yet name any other one in recent memory (Symbolic Avenger, Grenadier, etc..) and those were taken care of in less than 3 days.

There are a plethora of other games with trinities, and imo they all are boring as dirt.

I actually enjoy gw2 combat as its emphasis is on player skill and understand rather than raw stat allocation.

See, I think your taking this a bit serious. It just a game, and it just a one week event, not any of this it sticking. That said, what did they do to wvw that makes it un beatable. Seem to me, your still able to take the building and even defend them too, so not sure. Maybe I just on the right server, but can’t golems defend just as easily as they can take too?

It takes courage to admit when you kittened up. Sadly we are not used to that with our greedy overlords. But hey there is always room to be surprised.

Don’t they do that alot., I remember reading like a week ago that a few of the trait when they switch to a new system that it mess up. they even said and null them till they could fix them, and that made people mad too, it like anet can’t win, lol.

It’s clear you’re just a casual player and this appeals to you. But for those of us that go in there week in and week out and play the mode this is the worst possible change. That was the point.

Glad you missed it, but the vast majority of these forums is filled with hatred because we do not like golems, we do not like the idea of nothing but golem zergs and we actually like using our characters for combat purposes.

It was a terrible addition for a terrible event, that only created more problems for WvW.

You know what, why don’t they do to PvE what they just did to WvW. Make it so all the world bosses cannot be completed but have 100% chance to drop precursors.

No event in this game should be rewarding you for failing. That in and of it self is a design flaw.

Players should be actively encouraged to do events in the world, not watch the world burn.

No event in this game rewards you for failure.

Instead, what people are trying to do is to farm the event chain that follows the failure. In effect, 3-5 post-failure events offer better loot than a single successful defense.

And the issue is that people are actively encouraged to do events. Those wanting to watch the world burn are wanting to farm. The accident of the post-failure chain offering more total rewards is what causes the conflict.

And whenever this comes up, ANet has adjust the rewards, adjusted the timing of the restarting of the chain, or both. In every case, this has removed the inherent conflict (although not necessarily in a way that makes us happy — it’s hard to manage the balance, with the amount of dev time|testing required, and still keep the rewards/hour the same).

It’s indirect, but its still rewarding you for failing to defend.

It’s that simple.

Instead of going with the design that each successful defense ramped up the challenge of the next, (ie more mobs, more loot to tag). They went the route of players per area scaling. Players per area is fine only for assault phases where you are looking to seize control. Defense should scale based on time held and players per area.

The loot and gold gain/karma gain etc… should also be far greater in defense phases to motivate more players to come do the events.

The graph does not lie. We maintain our BL, Focus EB (even though we’d prefer not to, stop hugging towers and fight thanks), and push both BL’s at an equal rate.

Grenades and Mortars pierce static targets(objects) like gates/walls in PvP doing 0 damage.

Additionally Aim assisted rocket can proc on non-crits against static targets (objects) like walls/gates.

Tested on Legacy. Didn’t record.

Also they can stun you forever. I was against a mesmer and whenever i ccd im i got stuned, i wanted to heal i got stuned i wanted to use a skill i got stuned. When the mesmer runs out of stuns he goes invisible channels his mantra and there we go again stun.

Why are you complaining about lockdown mesmer in a thread about shatter ?

The two builds are entirely different and have different task in fights.

If they make WvW like EoTM, I will just stop playing it.

Half the beauty of WvW is creating and nurturing a team that you can rely on over time.

Its still WvW but the environment is more engaging like EoTM.

EoTM and engaging ?

The only thing EoTM does for me is bore me right to sleep.

There is never any combat, and on the off chance there is combat people moan and groan about how they can’t level or get karma.

Delete it, as it only harms the WvW atmosphere and maybe just maybe you’ll notice those borderlands aren’t as empty anymore.

It’s a bad design choice even for a week long event.

What’s even worse is that they most likely wont disable glicko for it as they should.

It really is sad to see that this is the best they can do for WvW while we wait for HoT.
Not like there’s achievements they can go fix, bugs that are still around or anything remotely related to fixing the rewards….Nope we get Gundam, the game event.

The $50 price tag IS for the upgrade, you guys need to get that fact into your heads.

While this pre-order may contain an upgrade it also contains a product i already own as part of the sale price. Meaning that i am effectively missing another product if i purchase as is currently bundled.

It’s just a bonus, it’s not actually added to the price, it’s a bonus. You ask why you should pay for the same thing twice, well, you don’t. Simple and easy.

You can call it a bonus, i’ll call it what it is a bundle.

The cost is calculated with HoT and the Core game. Hence you’re getting the core game at no cost when you buy it.

But if we already own it what we are getting is just HoT. The so called “Bonus” becomes obsolete the moment you link HoT to an existing account. No “base game”.

So why would anyone pay twice to get half the product ?
Fandom aside, while im likely to still buy it, i find this leaving an overall sour taste in my mouth.

Consider this, this is the first time Arena up right demanded money for content for years and it is the same price as WoW did for its first expansion minus a subscription.

Also, if you want to push sales for newcomers, imagine trying to sell your product by saying, “Hey! Come buy this new and exciting thing we are selling! BTW, you’ll have to fork over another $50 for this as well though.”

I see this as less of ripping off existing consumers and more about convenience for new players. $50 for an MMO expansion is nothing new or unreasonable.

Getting a better deal by waiting is also a recent practice that is common with the countless GOTY and “definitive” editions of games releasing years after initial release and GW2’s own anniversary sales.

You act like they couldn’t have done pleased both markets ?

You already own the game great the cost is discounted at the end of purchase.

I mean even looking at the price while it is less than what i payed for the base game the notion that its fine is wrong.

There was no time gating when making legendaries back in 2012, and within a few months people had legendaries – arenanet were shocked people ate their content that quickly (they thought it would take 6months+). As such, one of the sure fire ways to reduce this is time gating. I’m not a fan of it, but with how easy gear is to get, the time gate aspect is actually one of the harder things for impatient people (myself included).

And once upon a time ascended never existed, stuff changes and there’s plenty they should change about ascended. Like time gating which does nothing positive for the game, or its playerbase.

Umm… it stops people eating content too fast = more profit for the company. Arenanet/ NCsoft are a business, like it or not, they need to make money and for that they need people to play. Timegating may not be the funnest way (I don;t like it), but right now, it’s one of the more successful ways they have done to minimize people rushing through their content. Albeit some people use the TP to speed things up, it’s still an effective tool.

Stuff does change, but things which are profitable don;t. The reason ascended came in was because people started quitting after 4 months because they ‘beat’ the game – they had legendaries, full exotics, did all fractals (I was one of those people). Having come back, ascended took me 2 months to get, and that was because of the time gate. I still ate their content quickly, but time gating made me play for 4-6weeks more than I would have. Now I’m just waiting for HoT.

I understand your views on time gating, but with a lack of raiding or real end game content, time gating is a primary tool they are using to keep players interested. And if ascended gear is going to be 10% better than exotics, this is going to keep a significant chunk of the playerbase occupied until HoT.

Stop people from completing content to fast ? That argument loses all merit in a game where you can use items to insta level from 1-20 and use subsquent items to boost the rate at which you level, and included items to directly boost your levels.

Gear and level being the end all be all was never the point of this game, so why should this suddenly be a thing ?

If people are “bored” and you want to retain them there’s a very simple way to do so, fix core issues, not agitate the player base by making horrible design choices. There’s any number of ways to bring players back, via sales, or direct gameplay content (SAB, any festival etc).

Instead, we have the one way to not bring players back, but drive away players radical system changes that are so far out of left field it can only be described as the biggest mistake that could be made short of just making the game unplayable.

Skill has always, and will always be greater than having more stats.

Except when stats make skill irrelevant. Which has happened in several games.

So please do us all a favor and just remove stat progression. Go back to the old ways of having only exotic as the BiS. Downgrade all “ascended” to exotic tier and let them keep their cute infusion slot.

Problem solved.

It all started when Ascended was introduced.

Here’s a hint without that step, we wouldn’t have this one or subsequent ones.
Hence not a slippery slope. It was apt and accurate.

Fencing was never a sport that used off hand sword so why would this even be a thing.

As is you already have a fencing spec, S/D the only difference here is you dont use the OH dagger for parrying and poisoning.
