The difference from 5% to 10% (what everybody is all worked up over) is about 20 main stat and 14 off stat. Not that big of a deal…

I already had a big enough reason to hate ascended, now i have an even greater one. there is no reason for this game to keep going for a gear treadmill. We didnt have one at launch and it worked fine. For some asinine reason we had to appease the “Treadmill fans” and now its getting worse.

Removing the AoE doesnt favor the smaller group.
It favors the larger group as they have more outgoing AoE’s. Be it damage or healing.
Scaling the AoE cap might be a better way of doing it, but it would need to be WvW specific balance as there’s no need to remove it for PvE/PvP. Seeing as we very seldom get WvW specific balance good luck ?

That may work for players who are experienced and are good but won’t work for players that may be not so great or are new to pvp. Would you team up with new player? I hardly doubt it.
Considering the sheer number of new players that rotate through the guild i’m in and ask about pvp’ing….Yes i do.
Frankly speaking sometimes its a lot easier to play with a newer person than an “experienced one” as they are much more receptive and are willing to learn and adapt.
This thread, shows that in many forms. You have your top of the line “I only solo queue” but will complain player who is unwilling to adapt and talk with and form a team with people around him.
Here’s a clue there were 128 teams in ToL 3 for NA…. I can pretty much guarantee you that none of them said well i only solo. Even if they play day in and out they eventually formed a bond with someone. Even the top tier NA teams wouldn’t exist if it wasn’t for talking to players both in match and out of it.

TBH i’d rather they stop backloading the damage. As the skill is unless you finish the chain you’re better off just auto attacking. Even in the most ideal situation you’re not getting off a full channel thus making that last portion however strong, meaningless. HB’s consecutive nerfs alone dont even make it a viable cleaving tool on downed players.
If they want to balance this skill in pvp they need to adjust the damage spread, perhaps keep it a ramp up in damage, but remove the big spike added on the last hit, so players are still rewarded for casting it but not entirely punished for not finishing it. (Just like many other channeled skills)

I join a team as a solo player. Like most of the Guild Wars 2 player base. Just because I join solo does not mean I don’t play as a team when the game starts.

Teams dont just exist out of thin air, try talking to people who you PvP with, and form yourself a team. Not be place on team Red/Blue/Spectate.

Revenant – interacting with the glider and crash landing causes weapon swap effects to trigger. Meaning free PBAoE damage if you’re in Malyx stance.
Glider - Can be used on even the most negligible of slopes, we’re talking less than 1cm of elevation change.
Condi ranger sword/torch axe/dagger. Enough poisons and bleeds to make them melt aswell tons of evasions to avoid the hammer and gs swings.

Evade for days. constant uptime on posion and strong/long duration burns bleeds.
Throw in an entagle just for more damage if you want since you shouldn’t be CC’d if you play it right.

There are only a few aoe immobilize skills in the game, and none of them pulse.

Entangle is the closest thing the game has to a pulsing aoe immobilize. I didn’t mention it because it’s not usually an issue in WvW (it only pulses as long as the vines are there and they get destroyed by haphazard hammer swinging too quickly).
So it was just an oversight, continue then.
I agree that venom wells are strong, but i disagree with those saying there’s no counterplay.
There’s counterplay to venomwells. You have two very direct ways of countering it (kill the applicators, kill the receivers of said venoms). Not necessarily easy to do, but ease never was part of counterplay.

You have to build it in a keep….Anything you build in keeps is transient.
Which means if it’s only active when you are outnumbered, chances are you will never even have it as you most likely will have already lost your keep.
Now, where are they going to build it without keeps, and where are they going to get the excess supply to build it after they have to
1) Manage supply
2) Get back surrounding supply lines (Towers/camps)
3) Get a keep

Ascended was introduced because Anet at some point realized there is just nothing to work to for people. I wasn´t a big fan at first, but I guess without some long term goal, MMORPG just don´t retain players very well. The difference is rather small. Why can´t people take their time and aquire the shiny as they go? Oh right, age of the casual entitlement crowd ruining any long term game design.
You said it yourself it was introduced. Meaning its not something that was native.
So the backwards logic being used here to blame the casual crowd is pretty absured, considering said armor was added to entice the people looking for more (aka the Gear Treadmill addicts) to stick around. Not to appease the casual crowd.
The additional only added to the divide between the community, which is not something Anet should be proud of considering they wanted a community that works together not one that isolates based on gearlevel.
That being said i’m against deleting it entirely as that’s more harm than good. However, they can open up more meaningful ways to progress through that “optional treadmill”.
Crafting is time gated which to a vast majority of people is annoying, combine that with others who just hate crafting and you’ve already created a segregated community.
There’s some non-RNG methods to get a piece here and there and those are fine, but there should be more.
There’s the copious amount of RNG from X content, and those really should be looked into. Especially if it comes from content where its required (fractals).
That’s it, some small changes at the core for ascended items and you’ll have a happier community as a whole.

I just ended a VW and opened a Bandit Chest and low and behold one showed up out of that.
I have been doing almost nothing but DT/SW with the occasional PvP thrown in yesterday.

Correct i had just exited a complete vinewrath had already opened every chest on the side of my screen and had not done any extra events or killed any mob.

There’s nothing wrong with that… Why should 1 person get screwed ALL the time because 90% only want to do 1 map? That would be more flawed. People need to just suck it up and get good!

No, it adds fairness to people who don’t want to be stuck doing the same map. 90% of the time the masses get to be boring, every once in a while the person with unique tastes gets to enjoy the game. Explain how 1 person’s vote is more valuable than 9 others, or how that is “fairness”.

Because 9 times out of 10 the 9 get their way. Explain to me how 10% should NEVER get their way because everyone else just wants to do the same map over and over. “Fairness” is taking turns. And when 10% of the people have a net 10% chance to get their way that’s called fairness.
It’s not “fair” for that one match, it’s net fairness. And frankly, doing something other than Foefire once every 10 maps isn’t going to kill anyone.
Frankly, it doesn’t appear fair for surface value. Yes i get every vote is “equal” but there’s “equal” and then there’s just plain feels wrong.

I get it some people like more casual maps, like Courtyard, Sky Hammer, and Spirit Watch. Fine great, those deserve their own pool in their own Queue. Seperate from both Ranked and Un-ranked.
It would simply solve the entire issue of people wanting to gather as much experience between learning the core maps before jumping into ranked play.
To put it in even simpler terms, there’s this really stupidly popular moba out there that has multiple queues and some would seem redundant at first, but what they do is allow for similar atmospheres to exist without the aspect of a leaderboard. This lets people grow at their pace until they are ready to make the jump to “Ranked” play.
It’s a system that works and works well, for every other game mode there is a separate queue. The same system should be applied here.

There’s two schools of thought regarding the dislike of EoTM: 1) “I hate EotM. I don’t like to play it.” and 2) “I hate EotM and wish it was gone.”
The first is reasonable, and the second is not. I am of the former school of thought, in that I don’t play it because I don’t like it, but I would never want it removed because I know that a lot of other players like it. I think a lot of folks on this forum confuse the “I hate EotM” people with the “I hate EotM and everyone that plays it” people.

I want it gone because the resources used to create it and abandon it have left an ungodly bad design hole where in a new mode was created that is no longer PvE or WvW. Due to this both gameplay modes have suffered as EoTM has more benefit (karma, gold, leveling, wXP) than the modes in which you should be getting those in naturally.
Instead of fixing the problems plaguing both sides of the game leveling, gold gain (PvE) and Population Balance, wXP gain, rewards general (WvW). They with good intentions gave us a mode to be an overflow map, this overflow is now being abused much like the UD farm abuse and the various failing PvE event abuses.
Sad part is Anet seems okay to let this slide for whatever reason.
EoTM in short is a very big reason why we cannot have nice things. It gets abused and prevents Anet from fixing real issues because it still exist.
The centaur murdered them as they were weak, now they seek to do the same to humans.
That’s right i just retconned lore. Get mad.
Just like the English language you just simply cannot have uniformity when it comes to the definition of words. It’s upto the reader to make sure they have read the entire post and understand the context around it. No dictionary will player made or otherwise will fix that.
There should be better, more meaningful ways of attaining it outside of crafting.

There’s really not a meaningful way.
I’d argue that adding them to WvW and Fractals more frequently would work.
Add them to every level of fractal above 20, so people can get progression and feel like they are working toward something (mostly improve the chance of acquisition)
For WvW they should be added as near guaranteed rewards for taking fully upgraded keeps, as opposed to the 2 blues/greens. This would promote active fights for structures. Additionally they could easily rework the loot gained from rank up chest to be more along the lines of every x-8 ranks blue/green 9/10 rare/exotic/ascended or some form of it
ONE SINGLE CLASS SHOULD NOT BE ABLE TO SOLO CHAMPS!!
Every class is capable of this.

CD – NA Prime outside of reset is mediocre at best. Our Late NA is doing better, but has some growing to do. Currently our OCX is just the select dedicated players looking at around 20 tops on a good day. SEA exist not sure what they’re up to though as its not my timezone. EU is silly big but in a massive learning phase.
From what i’ve seen of the other servers NSP has a fairly stable NA, But is lacking other coverage zones. While DH is much like CD when it comes to NA, But has their dedicated SEA population to assist.
Maybe next week (or 2) we’ll actually have that matchup depending on how fast DB sinks.
Notice he only has 851 AP. I commend the effort, but this won’t stop speedhackers. So when are you going to fix speedhacking anet?
This is the real question and not just speed hacking but every sort of questionable action that ruins the competitive spirit of WvW.

or they can remove Karka Queen in it’s current form…
and Rework Southsun to function entirely like Silverwaste. A dynamic zone event for control of the island where in at the end the Ancient Karka spawns (make it a fight on par with that of Triple Trouble) and during the down time lets say 20 minutes you fight and hold off waves of angry karka until you defeat the Karka Queen.
I wouldn’t exactly call it more skillful, the majority of roaming/1v1 builds are typically cheesy/easy to play. Although I don’t understand why people prefer small scale fights in a large scale fight game mode. The balanced game mode is PvP, and people normally just whine they don’t like the scenery or they can’t break or cheese their build in PvP. But yeah being a guard in most blobs I wouldn’t say is very skillful either.
Neither will ever be seen as skill from the others perspective.
Zerging will always be mindless, and Roaming will always involve your FOTM cheese builds.
That said i enjoy both sides of the coin, though i find terrorizing zergs tons of fun when roaming.
This time it is Lormar’s Pass, not known for it’s zergs.
This is the 4th or 5th occurrence as I held back writing until I saw that it’s a regular happening. The only common item would seem to be entering a zone I’d expect to have low population.
In this case I was going to Durmond Priory instance for the personal story, so just ignored it. But where would I go if I checked “okay” to being evacuated, and why didn’t I go there in the first place?
Guild Missions happen in that zone. Which is likely the zerg you aren’t seeing.
It’s weird how the ‘bad’ maps are the most fun, for me at least. There’s nothing more enjoyable than messing with the opponents tactics and causing havoc. I guess it’s all about priorities.
Foefire and forest are popular because they’re simple and straightforward, but it just gets real old if that’s all people play all day.
Frankly I think it’s almost impossible to make a lot of ‘good’ maps without them being clones of each other. I just want to have even a small chance at variety.
The only way they are going to do that is by creating new maps with mechanics that enhance gameplay without taking away from the core PvP. A vast majority of the issues with the maps you find fun come from the fact that the Mechanics are just awful.
Hopefully never again. Ever. No. No. Do not want. Tournaments can die in a tire fire.

yep, i see a problem already.
It might have something to do with the other maps and how poorly they are laid out.
To me the two (Fofire and Forest) both have a clear map layout in mind with a good sense of where to and where not to fight. As well as clear objectives.
The other maps really have this Super Smash Brothers thing going, where the maps would be fine if not for the items, or conversely the items would be fine if not for the poor map design.
It’s one thing to make a unique gameplay mechanic, its another to have that mechanic be something that brings the map alive and frankly none of the other maps come remotely close and in-fact they most of the time serve as deterrents.
After watching the original GW dances… we definitely took a step down from those. Though I do like how Asura (males at least) do ‘The Golem’. And the Norn male Carlton dance is good too.
The Charr male full body dry heave is… uncomfortable.

Honestly though, the game is a fantasy game set in a fantasy universe. Realism isn’t something that you can strive for.
It’s one thing to ask for a velocity increase on projectiles, or to ask them to class projectiles and missiles differently. Those are fine balance related quirks that can be looked into. However, reality or the lack their of in this case is nothing more than a fabricated excuse.
