I don’t care how it’s played. I myself play things manually, but could care less if someone else is using a macro for music. At the end of the day its about enjoyment, whether its your own or the people you are putting on the show for.
That said this whole notion of legitimacy/legality could easily be solved by providing an in game track listing for players to create and store their own pieces. Then 3rd party tools wouldn’t be required or an issue.

I thought we all were playing a game to have fun, not ostracize people for not having the same fun you have.
Whether they play for points or kills, the fact is they are playing.
What makes you assume that the enemy will attack as a zerg without swords? Two people can take a tower pretty quickly if not interrupted. Not a zerg. Two. (15 supplies each and a guild cat or, heck, a ballista. I’ve taken a keep’s wall down with a ballista and some persistence.)
Ballista’s dont damage walls. A for Effort though.
The change however is dumb and is a slap in the face to the players as a whole. The developers need to listen, and i mean really listen not just double take and give PR speeches. The white sword change is up there if not equally as bad as introducing Siege Disablers. When players told you it would being broken, you guys insisted it would be fine, just as you are doing now. I’m not one for scripture typically but i feel this fits flawlessly given the situation. “As a dog returns to his vomit, so a fool repeats his folly”
Can we please break the cycle and start listening to the community at large for a change ?
Because there’s nothing of value to “farm”
You can make more gold, mats, whatever else floats your boat any place else in the world.

only a small number of people using a hack or exploit. After both inner and outer walls where down guild [CF] came into bay and capped it. Maybe anet can ask them, who took the walls down for them.

Im going to state my piece, I know the [CF} guys, they don’t cheat, they don’t condone cheating, and their leader wouldn’t ever include anyone whose abused exploits in their roster. So again, before you start belittling the entire server for one corrupt person’s action im going to ask you to clean up your own servers actions. Thanks and have a nice day.

It’s called a Pause Feature and Admin Slots (independent of spectator slots).

Hello All,
There was quite a lot of discussion around the proposal of removing white swords from objectives in WvW. We understand there are concerns about how this change might work in practice or how player behavior may change as a result of it. We felt like the best way to understand fully the impact, and give players a chance to see for themselves how it directly changes the WvW experience is to let people try it and see what they think.
We have decided to run a special multi-week event in WvW where we’ll be changing some of the “rules” of WvW for a limited time. This event will feature two major rule changes while it is running: we are planning to remove white swords from objectives, and add points per kill in WvW to the over-all score for the duration of this event. We are currently targeting December for this event but will keep you posted when we have dates nailed down for certain. If this type of event is successful, we may look to do more events like this in the future where for short periods of time the rules of WvW are changed to different rules, scoring and scenarios to help both keep the game fresh, as well as to change up the experience and try new fun things for WvW.

So instead of actually listening you gave vague PR speech, and decided to ignore your community and go ahead with what you thought was best.
Why are you even doing this ? You guys already labeled EoTM your hotbed for fresh WvW experiences and trying “new” things. Guess that went out the window already.
It really feels like you guys don’t have a dedicated WvW team at this time and are just out to throw spaghetti at a wall to see what sticks. Did you not learn anything from the Siege disabler fiasco ? We told you it would be broken and abused. We are telling you again no white swords will be broken and abused. It will cripple anything not T1 play where people don’t have 8 people camping in every tower.

Does anyone know if the boon rip procs multiple times on cleave based attacks ?
I.E even with the ICD if it procs while hitting multiple targets are all targets subject to being boon ripped or just one target ?
It was definitely CD doing this. As It happened tonight on DBBL everyone on the map could see the treb on the hill exactly where the screenshots within this post have shown. You can see an outline of the treb and can see it firing, but no players because it’s just too far. I did however see a CD engi on the cliff in between Faith camp and the JP. It’s believed that there were several on the hills above the JP that a mesmer had portaled up for enough supply. a few maps do have terrain glitches in which mesmer’s blink or thief’s infiltrator’s arrow can “go through terrain” or “jump up cliffs”. This is definitely an exploit of some sort and should DEFINITELY be consider cheating.
BECAUSE of where they are doing it, anet never intended a player to go in that area.
so yes, I’m directly implicating that CD is CHEATING.
Or you could take the high road and not imply the entire server is doing it unless you’d rather have CD pull out the same card. Your server has some dirty players as well, but you don’t see us blaming your server as a whole but rather the person and group responsible for allowing it to continue.
I’d love to share in laughs with my friends and guildmates, but it seems that there was no iteration done from last year to accommodate this. Solo’ing jumping puzzles isnt nearly as fun.
I get that you made this instanced and using the PvP system, so why not use all the PvP resources and give the players choice.
Checking back in. This isn’t meant to be a discussion of just those three ideas that I posted, those were just a primer for options. The idea is to discuss RNG as a concept inside of games and reward systems. I think more discussion will lead to better understanding of the problems current systems may have, and the pros and cons of other possible systems.
That being said, this is not a discussion of how you should get a precursor. I’d prefer the discussion to be much more general, solving specific problems is easy once you have an excellent framework.
In that case. RNG by itself is a terrible idea. RNG with any other subset of systems that allows players to achieve meaningful results in a timely manner is good. See the current state of Dungeon Tokens.

If this comes out it only goes to show that all the hours played by devs during the tournament were for not. Nobody in their right mind suggested this, to make it even remotely close to being considered for a live build is ludicrously dumb.
They can always design a system that doesnt award points when the player has been the victim of siege in the past x duration.
Not very hard to promote active combat and not siege warfare.
Being that guy that often feels like he’s on the negative side of RNG.
Any fix or solution is better than no change to the system.
To all the people asking for confirmation if it was a treb from CD. As i spent my time in that bay tonight, i can confirm it was. However, i can also tell you said treb was not used in taking that objective as it was my team of pugs that opened south bay gate, and took out that waypoint.
How that treb got there is beyond me as we spent the rest of the time moving on the map and attacking the enemy garrison. It was only brought to my attention at around 5 am when we were leaving WvW. (Just noticed this says NSP, This is still occuring and a treb was placed there on DB bay tonight, my apology for the summary that is not relevant)
CD doesnt condone hackers, so feel free to submit that as an exploit. I’m sure Anet has the tools to figure out which person/group of people broke out of the map and will take care of it.

They are probably working on systems to ship the expansion via a living world update. So that it doesn’t fracture the community.
It’s the most logical reason as to why they wouldn’t say much on the subject other than yes, there will be an expansion and no we don’t know how it will ship yet.
Box expansions tend to fracture the community by dividing those who have, from those that do not. This is unhealthy for a persistent world, like Guild Wars 2. However, its not too farfetched to think that they would allow you to unlock content with “Gems”. See the living story season 2 for an example of how this works.
With all that in mind, i highly doubt we will have a traditional box expansion, but instead have season updates and feature packs that will amount to miniature expansions throughout the year.
I hope it comes after the said date just so all the bad WoW fanboys that have already poorly dictated the current state of GW2 leave. Then maybe GW2 can return to the fun it was before they starting moaning about Jumping puzzles and no progression.
Mag will more than likely not be in T2 next matchup.
Then again RNG so GLHF.
Though to prevent this sorta stuff from happening in the future they should do more to preserve the integrity of the league system and competition as a whole and either not lock brackets or just move servers as needed by measuring pre-season data to see if they are intentionally tanking or not.
Might be because, you know…. If you were using the rifle for bleeds you probably need to re-roll anyway as that is not its primary or intended function.

Want people to actually take objectives through a multitude of means and strategies ? Get rid of Siege Disable. That abomination ruins any thought out or coordinated pushes during even resistance time zones and only enforces off hour PPTing.
i don’t know, ever since siege disabler became a thing, my WvW group (we never get larger than 15 people, usually 5-10 people) has used a bunch of varied siege to take objectives, rather than just stacking a bunch of rams.
Why should any siege or strategy be made obsolete ?
Rams are in the game for a reason, right now its clearly to be the punchline of every other siege weapon.
Want to fix coverage and server populations ?
EoTM is the first thing that has to go or be extremely neutered. It is the biggest problem there is with population problems. Second issue is “free transfers”. These need to never occur again.
Then you need to work on actively cutting the matchup into segments of play. Whether its 6/8/12 hours its better than the current 24/7 PPT system.
Kills from non-siege placements need to be worth way more than kills from siege. Honestly it’s not skillful to fire an AC and get bags. Especially when an Arrow cart can hit 50 people and players can hit at max 5.

Finally restore the sense of server pride and integrity. Right now all you have servers for is WvW. With the advent of the megaserver system, and removal of world specific guild banks you’ve basically said that server pride and loyalty are irrelevant. Which only leads to more stagnation and people jumping on the bandwagon to t1/t2 servers.
Before i begin, i would like to know if guild halls ties into player housing. If the two are linked then maybe i can go in-depth on how the two systems can be used together to create player driven hubs instead of town specific hubs.

It’s either a knights/cav mix, celestial, or zerker.
Typically zerker when im doing orgainized group play, the others are for roaming and change depending on if i value the sustain or need a tad bit more damage.

Right, the part where they are all actually static. Not branching and are without the thought of the state of the world or the NPC’s / Players in it.
The only “static stations” should be those of temples. There’s 0 reason for the Vigil to have preset cannons in the northeast of frostgorge sound 24/7, 365. That spot isn’t even remotely near a base. Nor is that event anywhere near meaningful. You are not halting Jormags advance if it keeps happening.
But its okay, i can see you’d rather not have meaningful open world and would rather the status quo instead of actual improvements.
I don’t think you’ve read what I wrote. Anyway, you’re using a strange argument saying that ppl are playing eotm because of rewards (which is gold/exp/karma) while saying that we need something other than loot bags.
The events doesn’t need better lootbags because they’re not there for that. Champions are there for that and they exist so that beginners have a shot at getting good loot. That’s why, in the first place, we have a world boss in each of the beginning zones, for example, so they do have a purpose. You may argue about one here or there, but not their general existence in the game. Also I see you have a whole level 80 perception, and that’s not what this thread is about, even though it would affect level 80’s in a good way.
Reading is incredibly hard. I said, meaningful events. That means both rewards and scaling.
Events currently are not doing either of these properly. Does not matter if its a level 15 fight with Shadow Behemoth or in WvW.
To put this in perspective…Which you seem to have missed, why do we even need champions. Why do we even have “events”.
Events in the world are supposed to make the world feel alive. When the same events occur on loop every 15minutes to 4 hours its becomes less alive and more scripted. Not only that it demeans the area and environment.
One can only play slay the Claw of Jormag so many times. In fact you’d think Jormag would have wised up and moved his attack instead of sending the same lieutenant to his death many times over. Point being same lieutenant, same spot, same attack ad nasuem.
This post isn’t about eotm. And the farmed champions are part of events (Sometimes even being an entire event themselves.
It is about EoTM. The map itself is being used as a glorified event chain for rewards.
It is about making meaningful events. That can easily be done without “Champions”.
The whole concept of a champion mob being in the world by itself is a silly notion to begin with and detracts from bringing the world to life via the Dynamic events that are in the game.
Ask yourself why should this champion be here. If you can come up with something other than loot bag, or it’s been that way since launch then maybe it can stay a champion. Otherwise it needs a swift demotion. Champions from the standpoint im coming from should be something that is meaningful content for multiple players to take out. However most champions are entirely soloable, that’s a problem.
Also, if you seriously want queensdale or any other “farm” like that back, you’re only hurting the cause for meaningful events which is the topic of this thread.

Funny though for a game without grinding to get something you sure gotta do that frequently.
meh…only if you want a legendary weapon skin. ascended armor/weaps aren’t that bad unless you want multiple sets quickly (the time gate actually makes it so you don’t have to grind for ascended gear…because you can’t).
Last i checked there’s several skins in this game that are not legendary that take near as much gold to obtain. Like the aforementioned Infinite Light, Mjölnir etc…
There’s 0 reason for this aside from the artificially low drop rates on lode stones.
Well, I think events shouldn’t be farmable, and Anet thinks the same way, I believe, since they are constantly nerfing farmable events, like queensdale.
Farming champions isn’t farming events.
There’s the first problem.
Second problem: Events in the world need to be meaningful from both a reward and scaling standpoint. Currently the case can be made that both are entirely lackluster.
Third problem: EoTM…This needs to be gutted. Rewards in WvW need to be buffed to get players out of EoTM. There is 0 reason for EoTM to have better, WXP, Gold Gain, Champion Bags etc… than playing the mode that is designed to benefit you and your server.
Yet surprisingly no one has voiced the same concern about time gating content in a casual game.
Grind.
Funny though for a game without grinding to get something you sure gotta do that frequently.

To say this subject for example is cancerous and leads to the outright restriction of the upper tier of linguistics would not be far off.
If you don’t get what i’m saying here it’s as simple as this, just because you interpreted the societal meaning of a word doesn’t make it the real meaning. Restricting it based on the societal norm is a slippery slope that will lead to us having less and less words to chose from. That in and of itself is a bad idea.

Hello all. I just wanted to give everyone a little reminder(or heads up if you didn’t know) that the Mystic Forge can now give sub level 80 exotics from putting exclusively level 80 items in it. I hadn’t forged for a few months and had zero idea it was happening. I figure this would be a nice thing to let everyone know because it may give them pause before actually using the Forge anymore.
It’s okay they totally improved the rate of exotics by doing this!
note The rate of getting a precursor is still bad.

Dedicated attackers will still take an objective when the supply runs out. If all the defenders do is use siege disablers it’s just buying them time.

Maintain the Keep at 0 supply (aka hold all surrounding supply camps)
It has nothing to do with karma training and everything to do with the absurd nature of how long a task that is. Generally speaking even with the Treb mastery, you’re looking at a good 3 hours trying to take out a fully fortified objective if not more. For most objectives that’s only enough to breach outer. Not even inner.
In that 3 hours do you know how many trips one can take to EBG/Enemy BL/EoTM and grab supply and run back to be a troll ?
The trap is god awful broken, the devs know it. They said as much and it’s time they balance it instead of waiting another 4 months for it.
Delete EoTM. Increase WvW rewards / gold gains etc.
Pretty sure that solves your population problems.

A system that guarantees stale matchups for a very very long time and then unbalanced matchups at the moment where they should be balanced: during a tournament. Quite a system.
I’m sorry, coming from a sports perspective you rarely ever play even match-ups.
How do you think the Raiders feel right now knowing pretty much every team in the NFL is better than they are ?
Your analogy doesn’t make sense all NFL teams field 11 players on offense and defense. Surely you’re not equating wvw with skill in your :even matchup comments"?
They are both leagues in which not every opponent is equally matched. Do you really wish to dispute that ?

Just because only 11 are on the field at the same time doesnt mean that the 11 competing are on equal footing…You can call this outmaned if you really want to. Sports and Tournaments in general are not fair nor are they between “equally skilled” players. Leagues are there not to promote a fair sense of play but to provide you an incentive for getting better and an attainable goal. You and your server can always do what the others have and recruit and grow stronger.

What if the Raiders could only field 7 players on offense and 6 on defense? There would be zero chance of them winning – zero. There would be no point in playing the game. That is what you’re talking about with WvW.
How many people do you think would watch the NFL if the teams had an uneven number of players? Zero, because the league couldn’t exist in that situation.
You said it yourself, anyone can win. This concept is not mutually exclusive to football.
You all place way to much emphasis on numbers. I guess you’ve not seen groups of 10 take on groups of 20-30 ?

Bloodlust will give more damage to every hit. Cruelty only when you crit. So unless youve magically found a power necro build that has a high crit chance (id say around 85% or hoigher) you’re better off with bloodlust but im sure someone has the math to prove that its better at what crit ratio.
Entirely possible fury + Deathly Perception + zerkers will have you nearly at 100%.
