Not really. The robber was trying to steal you. In this case, you don’t know. Its suspicious enough, we are pretty much all sure the guys was scamming, but it could also be a new player that want to switch server but don’t have any money to do it. The chance are slim because really at 200 AP you know nothing about the game and are still running around in solo to do heart and reach level 80.

I agree 100% with that. I used to have several weapons with different sigils. For exemple i had 1 with bloodlust, 1 with Sigil of Night (for Night Dungeon) and another on with Sigil of Force (for Fractal, and Day Dungeon). But since i have my legendary, i just can really use other Greatsword half the time to get the bonus of a sigil. If you have to get the sigil first and use it on the Greatsword in other for this particular sigil to appear in the Sigil list of your legendary then yes this would be a perfect system. Of course this would only work for legendary, like the stats swap system.

A little bit more in the character creation would be better for sure. But too much is like not enough. If you get lost in the character selection, have too much information or too much choice, most people won’t feel comfortable with the game. Its a important first impression especially for RPG (MMO like Single Player) and personally i felt that GW2 character creation did the job just well.

Since most of my character face and body are covered by an armor and i see them from the back, i would rather prefer more Armor and gear customization over character customization. The only thing that i truly think miss for the character customization, its for tattoo. There have really limited possibility. Other than i prefer that they add account wide dyes, more good looking armor piece or weapons and a dye system for the weapons.

Nourishments stackable

Stack on duration that would be a good idea. BTW nourishment of 10min are really low levels, most have 30min, 45min or 1 hour.

But if you’re talking about stack several kind of nourishment at the same time, this is a terrible idea. You can stack two kind of nourishment at the same time : Oil and Food. If you could stack different kind of Food at the same time, you could create overpower build.

These amulets are for testing btw.

Officially, a while ago the dev said that new Legendary item will come in late 2013 (push back to 2014) and that these legendary item will probably be Trinket. After that I think its pretty much hypothesis from the players. Initially, i was thinking about Legendary Amulet which could give a special Aura around the character that wear it. Why Amulet? Because the back item is already a item with a look, while Earings and Rings both have two of each. Amulet is unique, so its would be perfect to add 1 legendary aura around your character. Also i don’t think that Legendary Armor should be add to the game. Why? Because creating a new Armor skin (especially a Legendary one) is something that take a lot of money. We already see a lot of people with legendary weapons, but at least there is several model depending of which weapons type you use. This give a minimum diversity even if a lot of people have legendary weapons. But for an armor its 6 pieces, meaning that everybody that want an ascended armor will have an even more limited amount choice. Meaning that at some point more and more people will be wearing the same exact skin. And since armor need that much monetary input, there will never have enough different kind of legendary armor to make sure of a certain diversity. 1 or 2 year after the appearance of Legendary Armor the game will be fill by Legendary Clone of each other, when 1 person out of 10 will have the same freaking looks. With a Legendary Amulet on the other hand, this only give you an Aura. People will be able to combine this or these aura (Which will cost way more to create that a complete set of armor) to create different kind of looks. But hey, i may be wrong all along.

On Crystal Desert when i play we fill the main server and a complete Overflow each time we do the marionette. Each server have some peak hours. If you are unlucky and play when nobody else play, its normal to see not that much people.

What is the general population of your server? Because on Crystal Desert we may have an healthy PvE population, but we are far away from some other server (our Zerg in Frostgorges Sound is usually small and we don’t do Teq. But still we have enough ppl to fill the main server and an overflow for most marionette attempts (at least when i play) and we succeed most of the time (when we failed its almost never because of too few numbers).

On our server, the last update help a lot the community. A lot more people go on the Teamspeak, people organize at lot in the map chat before the event and more Commander tag up.

Dragonite Ore

On several server, a World Boss Zerg exist. It may be hard to find it for the first few time until you know which commanders run it or you run it yourself, but once you know it you usually can get 150-250 Dragonites Ore in about 2-3 hours.

The current management of overflow is far from perfect and these mega events, even if awesome have some work to do for the scaling. I love the large scale battle, but you can’t really design a event that need 80-90% of the maximum capacity of your map in players to be able to complete it.

That said, I really don’t the same experience as the some people here. I never go into Lornar’s pass more that 30min before the event (Overflow or not). And usually, this time is fill with organization. I tag up, count my line, go in TS, talk with the other commander, make sure that people are spread equally in each line and by the time i finish explain the events for all new players the event is about to start. You don’t need to get in the map 30min in advance to have a place. I have a lot of guild mate that were able to get in the main map 10min before the events. No you need to get in the map 30min in advance to prepare for the event and this is what make the kind of events so unique. Its not just the zerging of a boss, when half the people are just following the big blob and have almost no idea what they are doing. On Crystal Desert (at least in the hours i’m playing) we usually have enough ppl to succeed in the main AND on the overflow. So you can actually get on the map 10min before the event and still have a place while the overflow still getting filled.

Why be a Pain??

This is a multiplayer games. Like in real life there are people who actively trying to help, other can become frustrated when the events fail even if they die good, other are simply mean or troll, while the majority just stay quiet.

Nobody is right or wrong in this. People we did the Marionette for a week now have the right to be frustrated when people are using their character level 35 for questing in the map while waiting for the marionette. This even can be failed with too much low level and this is not fair for those who are waiting 30min with their level 80 to make sure that the event succeed. But on the other way its a game, why not play instead of waiting?

Its also fair for people to be frustrated by people who don’t know how the event work. Its been a week now and plenty of good guide can explain every part of the fight to make sure everybody can do it. But on the other hand if i can only play in the week end, then I never heard about this event before. Some people just want to play the game, not search on the internet to understand stuff before doing it, to actually enjoy the game.

A lot people still don’t know how to event work or still don’t know how each champion work yet. If a lane fail, explain who to fight it for next time. Before the event, explain the champion to everyone so they have at least an idea, talk about the server VOIP so people can go there to receive more information and talk about the guide on dulfy. If everybody take time to explain before and during the event, then more people will know the mechanics.

Lol. Not everybody bring their level 80 to the events (not everybody have a level 80 in this zone). Also, some people didn’t see all the possible champion so they don’t know yet how to fight them. And finally, every server need some organization. 5 Commanders making sure that everybody split evenly before the event (20-25ppl in each lane) but are also active during the event to reinforce lane at the right time.

Another tips. Get a VOIP (Mumble, Vent, TS, etc) and advertise it in the guild. Those who come in the VOIP usually are active player. Its more personal that the guild chat so people will talk more to each other. Its a great way to include a new members. This is a good place to ask what most people want to do next, organize events like guild missions, explain stuff to new players, etc. This is also a great way to put life into you guild as people talk to each other about all kind of stuff and push people out of their shell where they play solo and don’t participate with the guild.

Yes I like the Karka Queen, but i prefer the timer. Most people want to do each boss once a day, not farm 1 world boss over and over. The timer allow a World Boss Zerg to go from 1 to another event without must waiting time and allowing most people to complete the majority of the world boss events.

Most of these idea for Legendary requirement would be really bad. Forcing ppl to play WvW or sPvP (especially sPvP since you can’t use your Legendary in that mode) is just wrong. Map Completion in WvW is a thing but playing enough to get enough wXP is even worst.

We have dungeon for those who want small team instanced fight, we have world boss for easy zerging open world events and we have the 2 Mega World Boss for semi-organized zerging open world. We have all three why don’t just let them be like there are now.

Now Teq and the Wurm are some issues (overflow, minimum of ppl high enough to restrict it to high pop server or TTS, etc) But these are issue that can be work one, we don’t need to change them to instance or make them so easy that anybody can fight them with a small group.

The Marionette is the best proof that these epic World Boss can be well designed.

The Marionette fight is one of the best Boss fight of the game. I would love if it would stay permanent but it need to modification to do so.

1) Lore wise, its don’t make sense if the Marionette stay after the end of the Living Story. Its a defensive measure to protect the cannon.
2) The encounter need between 100 and 125 ppl for doing it. Its fine for now, but eventually the boss will only be attempted by TTS and high population server like Teq or Wurm. Since more ppl like this fight maybe a bit more server will do it, but the number of ppl to be able to do it should not be more that 60-70.

So in order for the Marionette to stay they need to find a reason to lets its stay. Even if the canon get destroy or Scarlet take it somewhere else, the Marionette can be left behind. Hell Scarlet could even leave it as a trap where the Marionette get revive by something on a regular basis, leaving us the chance to cut her down in the future. Lets see how in the next 2 weeks people are able to beat the boss. Maybe by knowing more of the fight we will be able to do it with only 3 ppl per rings, making this fight possible with 75 ppl. But probably it would be better if we decrease the number needed. The Living Story events could block 2 of the 5 lanes, so the fight only need 75 in order to have 5 ppl per rings (or 60 for 4 ppl per rings).

Anyway, Anet should check this fight carefully and use some of the mechanics to improve other World Boss or creating new ones. THIS is the way to create epic, fun World Boss.

The Marionette is Well Designed: Here's Why

Ya its probably one of the best Boss fight of the game and absolutely the best Open World Boss fight.

One other things great is that it need a bit of organization (like Teq or Wurm), but the fight are more small scale (25 ppl in lane and 5 ppl in rings) making you feel important because if you die you really hurt you team, not like in Teq where you are one of the 70 ppl attacking the Boss. (Don’t get me wrong I still like Teq )

Yesterday i was too slow and end ups in a overflow. But still i tag up with 2 other ppl, finally getting 5 commander before its started and we worked together to make sure each lane had at least 25 ppl in it. We fail, but not by much and it was on an overflow.

Right now i think that 125ppl are the minimum to success the events, but i’m sure we can drop that to 75-100ppl when everybody will know all the little tricks of the fight. Its a shame that this boss won’t be permanent.

Dredge fractal Unbearable!

What from the January 21st patch made the Dredge worst? If you mean the Harpy Feathers, i never it use for Dredge. I have a spykit just in case, but most of the time I don’t need it at all. Its not only Thief, Mesmer and Guardian for this part. Necromancer, Warrior, Rangers and Elementalist can do the job just fine. I never used an Engineer there, but i’m pretty sure that with Shield and Elixir S you can do the job just fine.

The heavy Gauntlet are nice and the Medium Helmet look really nice on Charr (only). But the rest of the armor are really bad. Sure if you take Ascended armor model and you put some effect of it your base model is still bad.

Thanks putting a description next to each traitline was really helpful! I actually got a good understanding now.

Only one thing kind of confuses me though, if I spec for power, will my phantasms hit harder? I thought only condition damage increases the damage of a memser’s phantasms?

Power, Precision, Critical Damage will increase the Direct Damage of your Phantams while Condition Duration and Condition Damage will increase the Condition Damage of your Phantasms. Exactly like for you Mesmer own attack.

I don’kittens gonna be a popular choice.

Stats combination like these would be better :

1) Healing Power, Power, Vitality : Mix with Cleric to give Toughness and Vitality would make a more balanced build.
2) Power, Precision, Toughness and Power, Precision, Vitality. For those who want to be DPS, but just need a bit of defensive stats to help them survive. For now you can use Knight, but PPT would be better in my opinion. PPV would be for the same reason but for those who prefer a big more HP (Would be good for an Elementalist that want about 13K hp before going full Berserker after that. )
3) Vitality, Toughness, Healing Power. I would use that on my WvW Guardian for when i command in a big Zerg vs Zerg (i just need to stay alive in there while other are making the damage), but it would suck for all the other part of the game lol.

Simple question about Mesmer

For PvE i’m allergic to Confusion. Mobs just don’t attack enough per second for confusion to be really good. Maybe some people won’t agree with me but Mesmer in PvE should always go for Power and not Condition damage.

Watch out, its not because the trait line give you power that its the best line for a Power build. You choose trait line for TRAIT and not for the stats. If you can have both then its great, but I will always choose good Trait with bad stats over good stats with bad trait.

For the Mesmer Phantasm Power :
- Domination : Not the best trait line. Most build use only 10 pts in that for Empowered Illusions.
- Dueling : A really good trait line because you have really good trait and stats from it. You can choose trait to boost your Mantra, your Sword and Pistols. But you will certainly want at lest 10 pts in there for Fury on your phantasm.
- Chaos : Its a defensive trait line, i don’t see much use for it.
- Inspiration : This trait line have defensive stats, and a couple of useful trait (but not all are powerful trait, only useful like Glamour CD reduction or Focus Reflect), but Minor trait are great, especially if you put 25 pts in this line. Some people like this line, other don’t.
- Illusions : This trait give you access to some powerful Phantasm trait like Phantasm Haste and Compounding Power and the minor trait Illusionit Celerity is always nice to have. Personally i like to have 20pts in that line, but don’t really care for more.

My Engineer was my first character and it was a Sylvari. I don’t really mind my Sylvari, but it’s not my favorite character look wise and i won’t do another Sylvari Engineer if I could go back. I think the best race for Engineer would be Charr, Asura or Human.

Human : Well they fit everything so.

Char : Their culture in GW2 fit so well the Engineer. A semi-industrial (18-19h century europe) kind of look.

Asura : An asura with an engineer kits is always funny. These little things with a huge backpack its just perfect lol. Its so easy to make a funny character with the mix of Asura and Engineer.

@Rennoko all I can say is before the dec 10th balance changes they did a pretty good job of discussing them with the players and they actually made a few adjustments based on player feedback. Prior to that I personally had a major issue with them just rolling out balance changes all willy nilly. Its annoying when you spend time and money gearing up a character only to have them change it at the spur of the moment. As it stands now I have 2 months to prepare for the upcoming changes to crit damage and traits. I can level my engi in that time and be ready to embrace the already OP condition meta. I hope everyone can agree that this is a much better system and that they understand that they should have be extreamly angry if there were balance changes in this patch because we would have had no chance to discuss them.

Not arguing the approach, which is a fine approach, but we have been discussing some changes and issues for quite some time, come to a conclusion, and we still find ourselves where we are/were months ago.

Lets look at Dumbfire for instance. The proposed change was brought up at or around December 10th. A nerf, but a good and skillful nerf, needed severely on an overpowered trait. Some would argue it is an overnerf and needs to be master tier (I wouldn’t hate that), but in the current in game iteration, that trait is severely problematic, and has been for a REALLY long time, especially in WvW.

There has been enough discussion on that one, and many others, that could have been and should have been rolled out.

Also minor quality of life improvements to severely underused traits would have been fine to roll out as well… like what they did with some of the minor traits last patch.

Sweeping meta changing balance can wait if it must, but there was finished products they walked away and left on the drawing board.

I understand your point. But they never said that they won’t do any skill’s balance/fix during the 4 last Living Story patch. Lets take an example of this patch. They put 5 balance/fix which ain’t a lot, but the last patch was a big balance/fix patch so its kind of normal. Maybe they will simply stop doing any balance/fix until the big feature patch, but we can’t really know that.

Do You Enjoy Massive Zerg Content?

I like both.

I like doing my daily and bit of cash by doing the Queensdale zerg. Usually i listen to music or chat with people around making it really fun and relax.

I like the World Boss Zerg, doing events that i do on rare occasion. Some of them are boring, but other are interesting. And like with the Queensdale zerg, i like to listen to music or chat with people while doing it.

I like Tequalt because it need some organization. You can use the Turret, protect it with a small number so no champion come or DPS the Dragon in the zerg. Even there it’s not a mindless zerg. You need to keep an eye for the waves and i’m usually quite occupy by rezzing a bunch of people that DPS without doing anything to stay alive.

Of course, Zerg content on its own ain’t enough. A good mix of Party and Zerg content is needed.

The GW2 patching used to be like this…. little balance changes each patch…. but here we are with the standard MMO model and filler content between patches.

The december 10th was a huge balance patch, and in this patch you have 5 skills Balance/Fix. Should they fix 10+ skill each patch to be acknowledge? Maybe 15+?

In November 26th path, they had 59 balance/fix for the professions.

True in November 12th they had none. But in October 29th they had 18 and in October 15h i stopped counting after the 100th. Seem to me that they fix a bit each patch or almost each patch so your point is just false.

Using language like “in the next feature patch” is intentionally misleading, and they should have stated at the start of the stream, NOTHING they were discussing had any weight or would happen anytime soon, so feel free to not bother watching.

‘’in the next feature patch’’ is highly precise. You just don’t read news from Anet that’s all. In December they clearly stated that starting on January 21st there will be 4 patch to finish the Living Story. The next patch would be a big feature patch. So i don’t see how ‘’in the next feature patch’’ is misleading. Its the next update after the 4 first of the year. Meaning that this can’t be sooner that March 18h. They also said that after the 4 first patch of the years they will take a brief patch break before the big feature patch. Meaning that this big feature patch won’t be on March 18th but a bit later.

Scarlet as an ally (/speculations)

Scarlet deep motives being to save Tyria is kind of a good idea. But she’s definitively at least half insane and did way too much destruction and death to become an ally. Something like that could be nice :

1) Scarlet during her experiment saw the Eternal Alchemy, the destruction of the Tyria by the Elder Dragon, but affected her judgment.
2) Scarlet start her own plan to destroy the dragons, but twisted her experience she don’t mind to destroy a big part of Tyria in order to save at least a part of it. By doing this, she manipulate several alliance that she unleash on Tyria in order to gain something from them (Knowledge, technology, magic, …?)
3) Eventually the hero will catch her, but at this point he will know her real motives. Maybe her method are not forgivable but her knowledge could be a real game changer in the fight against the elder Dragons. For this reason she’s keep in a secret location where she can give vital information to the Pact, even if she will keep manipulating and playing mind game with everybody.
4) With all the destruction she cause, she can’t publicly help the Pact. For this reason, the Pact tell people that she’s been kill. But the presence of Scarlet eventually come out publicly and start a politic fiasco. The Pact success to far against the Elder Dragon had been forget in part of Tyria where the presence of the other Dragons is not that strong. The human in particular see the Pact as manipulative and having maybe its own agenda, while the Queen feel betrayed by the Pact that kept Scarlet (who attempt to the life of the Queen).

Just an idea that could be a nice development. Scarlet could be important in the long term, but not being behind everything. Scarlet is still a nice character, but in the last year she always appear in the end to say : Ah ah it was me all along and then disappear.

I’m glad that the Wurm will be as challenging as Tequalt, its always a fun World Boss to fight.

But its sad that these interview were bias as hell. These come from the interviewer not Colin.

1) ‘’Without question, Scarlet’s a compelling character, … ‘’ Really?? Because i have a lot of question about that.
2) ’’Since its inception, story has been a critical component of Guild Wars 2.‘’ Really? Because i feel like a lot of people find the Personal Story boring, Traherne one of the worst character and the Living Story … Well you know. GW2 have a lot of strong point, but story ain’t one of them.

This is the single not positive sentence of the interview : ‘’Despite Johanson’s enthusiasm, the ArenaNet team’s Living World efforts have thus far met with mixed success and mixed reactions.‘’ I suppose the author had a bit of shame at the end of his paper. Don’t get me wrong, i love the game and all. But I find way more healthy to talk honestly about the good and less good things in the game.

Walljumping and exploit in dungeon was something common in the early game of last year. Not its really rare. Maybe there is more, but for now I think there is 1 in CM and 1 in TA where the boss can’t hit you, but you can. These two are pretty much the rule if you run these particular path, but other than that Anet fixed all of the other i use to know. I’m sure that there is more that I don’t recall at the moment, other that I simply never saw and other that ppl don’t found out about yet. But still its really not a big issue in the game right now and Anet will continue to fix them eventually like they did with about 100 others exploits in dungeon since the beginning of the game.

People making gold is not about exploit btw. Most of these people are good player that can solo these path faster than most pug can do the dungeon in a full group. So they reach the end of the path alone and then sell the 4 remaining place for profit. Personally, i like to actually do dungeon, but i don’t mind the practice.

Anet still care about exploit. Not long ago they banned a bunch of people about an exploit (Linen).

But i’m not sure what you are trying to point out here. Your post seem to be about anything in particular and everything at the same time.

Do you think that speed run, skipping, etc are exploit that Anet should fix? There is already a big post of that and several smaller one on that very issue. (That i only partially share).

or are you talking about the fact that its Zerker or go home? Which also have a lot of topic on. This is especially true about zerker since a lot of people are talking about that in the moment because of the future change of Crit Dmg to ferocity.

Zerg
1) Guardian : Defensive Support
2) Warrior : Offensive Support
3) Elementalist : Backline DPS, Combos Field
4) Necro : AoE, Boons Removal, Blind
5) Mesmer : Specific Support Skill, a small number are a force multiplier to your zerg, but any additional Mesmer are not really useful.
6-8) Engineer, Thief, Rangers : They don’t bring something specific to the zerg. Everybody is welcome, but i don’t think that any guild group with specific build and profession would bring any of those.

Roamer
1-2) Thief and Mesmer
3-8) All other profession do the job, but…

Special Mention
Engineer : Best versatile profession in WvW. For someone that want to do a bit of everything in WvW and only have 1 character to chose, then Engineer is the best choice. You won’t be the best at anything but with 1 build you can do pretty much everything.
Necromancer : I don’t really know much about the Necro. Usually they don’t give much trouble, but some player with this profession I just can’t do anything against. They are playing with me like a little doll.
Guardian : Using hammer next to a cliff or bridge is OP. Its only situational, but a launch of 750 distance on a 20sec cooldown (if traited) can give you some really fun time.

Engineer or Necromancer

Necro are powerful but Usually ppl are using it for Condition Damage which is bad for dungeon but great in sPvP or WvW in small fight. There is also the Necro Powermancer that is a good for Dungeon but not run by most Necro (this is why necro are usually see as second class citizen in dungeon). Like i said in sPvP and small fight WvW fight Necro are real beast but can be hard to master so you gonna need to put some time to make it work. For large zerg in WvW they are also good because of their aoe in general but especially for aoe Weakness. (I don’t really run Necro so i’m not up to date. I think that AoE Weakness had been nerf in the 10th December path, but i’m really not sure).

Engineer with kits almost as versatile as Elementalist and they also have the best AoE Condition Damage of the game (only because they can stack huge, constant Vulnerability, buffing the party DPS). They are ok in Dungeon, but need some experience with them to be good. That and the fact that less people like the modern look of the engineer explain the reason why its not on the best profession in PvE. In sPvP you can do a great job with it. In WvW its a great roamer profession and can do the job in a zerg. Its good everywhere but excel in nothing (except maybe AoE Vulnerability).

I know there is some server that kill Tequalt on a regular basis. But Usually its because everybody guess on their server to kill it, so often people of that server are kitten because they can’t kill it on their own server (several post about this kind of situation on the forums).

But TTS is the best solution by far. You need to understand that TTS is not a real guild. Its only a way to regroup players and organized them to Kill Tequalt and other events (don’t know if they do something else right now, but if something that need as much organization in large numbers as Tequalt they will certainly organize for that as well). You don’t need to quit your guild, you don’t need to represent or anything like that because they are not a real guild. I have my own guild and only represent TTS in specific time when they use the Guild Chat of TTS to prepare the encounter. They regroup 3 times per day to kill Tequalt (1 for NA, 1 for Europe and 1 for Oceanic). Usually you better get on the Guild Chat as early as you can to have a spot, if there is enough ppl they will start a 2nd or 3rd Overflow.

Give dodge damage reduction, not invuln

This would be a terrible change in my opinion. Dodge would be only a active way to have pretty much the Protection Boons if it only mitigate the damage. No i like that i need to learn the encounter, find the animation and dodge at the right moment to evade a big attack. The problem with dodge is that you can use so often. I end up using it to evade not only big attack, but also a bunch of normal attack from all kind of mobs. If we had less endurance regen, and less access to almost to completly constant vigor (like on the guardian) this would force player to watch more carefully our endurance and keep our dodge for specific attack big attack that would kill you or take away a huge chunk of your life. This would also force people to use other tools to survive encounter. For exemple, in Fractal against the Grawl Shaman. When my team have some people to rez, i usually agro the Grawl on me and keep him away from people that need to be rez. I have a constant Vigor in fight because of my build, but even with that i don’t have enough dodge for all his agony arrow, and since i’m Zerker i don’t have the life to survive more that 1-2 Arrows. So i use all the tools i have available. My heal block, my elite make me invulnerable, i have 3 aegis, a wall of reflect and a block with my focus. How many times do you have to think about all those other skills? A very few time. I rarely time my heal to block a specific attack, i use my elite in desperate moment, and my focus when i rez someone in the middle of the fight. But i rarely need them to keep my alive or block something specific, because i have so many dodge against enemy that usually attack at a slow rate.

Rank up commander

Like Claudius said this was already discuss during the CDI on commander. Overall, people like the idea but don’t know what should be use to rank the commander. And anyway, more people prefer to use different shape and color as an organization tools and not a rank of commander. This way a blue dorito commander will have the main zerg, while a red dorito commander will be running supply to repair a gate and a silver dorito will lead the havoc team. Way more useful that the ranking of commander.

Anyway anybody that play WvW a bit know most of the good and bad commander so this ranking will only be useful for new people or people that don’t play a lot.

Getting A legendary

Personal advice don’t go for the legendary right away after you hit level 80. Making a legendary take between 1 month and 1 year depending on your play time. Its usually a long term project even for people that play for a long time now, know where to get most stuff and already have a minimum of crafting material already in their bank when they start. You risk to lose focus on your goal since way more stuff need to be done for someone just hitting level 80. In my case I started on my legendary after 6 months in the game. Here some preliminary tips that you can use to prepare you for your legendary.

- Save Gold
- Save Karma (Level up Fractal as high as you could, after when you play fractal 10 level lower you can big time karma, if you dislike fractal there is other way to get karma that you can do without preparation).
- Do Dungeon Master or at least a big part and especially do all Story Mode so you can start whatever dungeon you want. (not all paths will help you, but dungeon in general will be a great tools for you Legendary so learn how they work as much as you can to latter speed run them)
- Learn what to sell, what not to sell, where to sell and what to salvage. I won’t go in detail you can find this information. The worst for me was to find that a couple months earlier i sold a bunch of material at low price and now i have to buy them at an higher price.
- Do all daily and monthly. Laurel are a powerful currency. You will use it for ascended gear at first, but when you will be near completion of you legendary you can buy Tier 6 crafting material with laurel saving a lot of gold (about 1 gold per laurel).
- Level up crafting profession. All of them if you want, but only the two you need for you legendary is good enough.

More Strategic???.. you really haven’t played WvW a whole lot for sure.
Strategic WvW passed into the ether a year ago.. today all that is left is Zergwars and PvD. there is nothing more than someone shouting “X” server is at “Y” tower 30+ and a blue tag answering on our way, stack and go…

I’m in CD, a Tier 5 in the moment so probably not a ‘’competitive WvW server. But still a 30+ Zerg is not that frequent and not a lot of group can PVD a door to death except maybe against a unprotected, unseige paper tower. A lot of commander are only staying follow me and shut up which can ruin the experience of some people. I prefer to explain what are my plan so people can understand what I’m trying to do. Usually i get really good comments when i do that and people seem to feel more their importance in the game.

Each time i see this kind of tread it make me sad. I love Zerg vs Zerg battle. In the open field with veil, portal behind the ennemy, push right to avoid the head, going in their back to get to the DPS group while they buff up. Or in defense/offense in the middle of the keep, when you try to destroy their siege as fast as possible to bring the odds in your favor. These are some of the most epic moments. You may win or lose but its always fun.

What break the experience is when you are can only bring 10 people together in the whole maps while the enemy run across your map without any kind of resistance taking everything in a couple of minutes, leaving people discourage and quitting WvW.

Just to be clear. Are you saying that liquid WXP will be useless because you will reach level 1350ish and you will have all WvW Mastery unlock?

If it is then i agree partially. Getting any higher will not give you any more advantage but I still want to get higher in rank. Anyway most people are not yet at level 1350ish. I usually see a bunch of Bronze and a Couple of Silver, but most of the ppl i see (in my tier at least) are under level 100. Of course the account wide WxP will probably bring the majority of people in the Bronze range.

Make siege invulnerable to AC

Yup defensive siege are powerful right now. Too powerful i don’t think so. The main advantage of an attacker is moving fast. Usually, by the time someone see the white sword, the siege are up and running. By the time the commander react and get a scout report a tower only have some second left, not enough to defend it if nobody was close at the right moment while at a keep the attacker should already be at inner, leaving not that much time for the zerg to get at the keep. Pre build Siege are live savers but still you need proper scouting and rapid response from at least a couple person to be useful. The crucial element of any attack/defend is time.

This is an amazing week. But its a shame at the same time because each server has its own Prime Time where it dominate and only some small period of time when we can really have epic fight. I’m from the East Coast Time zone and here CD dominate the night with guild from Singapore, HoD dominate the afternoon, while IoJ dominate the morning.

But at least between these time we have some great time where at least two server have similar numbers and battle at that time are epic. All week long I had a hard time waking up for work because i stay up a bit longer during these epic hours of WvW.

BTW : Who was from CD or HOD about two days ago when HoD was in ours garrison. We just got reinforce by our Prime Time crew so for the first time in the last hours we had enough number to do something about your zerg and wipe half of it next to our Garrison. Then suddenly GW2 simply shut down for everybody just as we were about to take it back. Lol on the TS server everybody was like WTH. It was a nice fight anyway.

Well a good WvW group (This work for zerg or small roaming party.), will have a defensive build frontline and a dps build backline. The goal is for the Frontline to absord the damage while the dps backline kill the ennemies. Sound to me that you tried to kill a full defensive Frontliners while his DPS backliners killed you fast. Now about the one shot kill with the scepter i don’t know. Its hard to say if yes of no it was a hack or something legit. I saw some really good group that work together in an impressive way. If someone gave fury to the group and two gardian pop their Empower staff then the group can burst you down with 25 might in a second. Also how can you be sure only the scepter hit you? They could had burst you down and the only thing you saw was the guardian scepter rings under your feet.

For the guys that you couldn’t do anything to him. Again this can be explain easily. As a guardian i have 1 aegis already on me, then pop a second aegis from retreat, then my focus block, then a 3rd aegis from my virtues, then a blind from my virtues and then my elite invulnerability that reset my virtues so 1 more blind and 1 more aegis. This can give me a really long time during which you just can’t hit at all. He can even use his heal that block and if he is in a good group, the other can keep him alive with some heal. Leaving you with the feeling that you did absolutely no damage and got 1 shot. A good organized group can smash through a lot.

When the commander talked about heavies its only to make things work on the battle. He could say : ‘’Heavies and other player that have a tanky build and can’t do something similar as heavies, but make you know your stuff and already tried so you don’t just run and die at the door. Pls’’ But its a bit too long to say and not everybody would understand quick enough.

When you say heavies, even new player will know that this mean. In combat you can look at every exception out there.

- Exciting : Warrior will get you exited by their big damage numbers.
- Dynamic : Guardian is way more Dynamic in his gameplay. You attack, you give boons at the rigth time, you manage your block/invulnerable/aegis, you can put some reflects, etc. You have more different things that you can do with the Guardian during a fight.
- Explosive : Not sure what you mean by that, but the big numbers are with the Warriors so.
- Variable : In gameplay its the guardian. For the builds??? It depend, Warrior can change drastically his gameplay with a different build, more than the Guardian. But the Guardian is better at most of these role while the Warrior is king of the DPS. So in the end you will have more option with the Guardian because you will want your Warrior to focus on DPS, this is what it’s the best at.
- Fun to play : Nobody can’t really give a hard answer on that. But I have way more fun with my guardian, and i say way more post on how the Warrior is boring to play. Warrior rely on stats and raw power with 1 goal DPS, while the guardian can do a lot of little things that support the team : CC, Boons, Reflects, etc.

The engineering/thieves branch would be way to powerful. All commander will absolutely need at least level 2 in this brand to dismantled their rams and cata before leaving a keep/tower that they just took. This would put more pressure on the Commander and give him more things to do other that lead the zerg. And a small group of level 4 and 6 could take back keep almost as fast as a zerg by using leftover siege from a previous attack. I like the idea of turning ennemies siege against them, but this is not a really good ways, maybe the dismantle capacity should be available to everybody (meaning not in a mastery, but its should be only by the person who build the siege in the first place).

I really like the dolyak mastery, but you really need to drop the level 6. This is funny, but really bad lol. Even if I would love to ride a dolyak outside the circle and get kick off it. A magic moment.

Executionner would be a bad idea too. Nothing should advantage you in a 1 vs 1 in the mastery.

But for the rest, you had some great idea.
