I recently returned to gw1, much better game and I don’t feel like it is pushing me into the trading post or gemstore.

I will never understand why people want stuff to come from the gem shop and not as a drop or reward from the in-game world.
I agree, the lore is already hard enough to come around as it is without requiring to come on the website on top of that, no wonder why most of the player base has absolutely no idea/don’t care about what’s going on in game. Adding a tab in the hero pannel or adding it to the personnal story would be a BIG step forward, or heck even books in a library or something like said by OP.

I don’t see any difference between GW1 and 2. GW1 = I want something expensive -> uwsc 24/7. GW2 = I want something expensive -> champ farm 24/7
Champ farming is much more mindless than uwsc or doasc or any other sc in gw1 was.

Scarlet is actually all of the other dragons (besides zhaitan) combined. That way Anet can move on from their dragon story faster.

If you want a new skin, you have to buy BLCs or buy it off the TP. ANET doesn’t believe in skins coming from game content anymore (like gw1).
The releases all feel the same to me (I still have no idea what the story in GW2 is and I feel no connection between the lore of GW1 and GW2). I did enjoy the gaunlet.
If they made them easily reusable, then you would have no reason to buy more stuff from the cash shop, so they made them one use only to keep you paying.
I would like to but gw2 has dissapointed me enough in several ways that i’m not sure i would.

Yeah, I bought a stack once and was like “what a kitten waste of money”… But since I have a large stack of chests, and some of the skins that you buy with scraps are kinda cool, I probably wouldn’t mind buying some keys once in a while, if they weren’t so expensive.
Is it me or did you just get more of them from playing the game when the game released? I know you get 3 through your personal story but I seem to remember opening these chests quite often back in the early days. According to the wiki, the keys can drop off of mobs too, but I don’t recall ever having one of them drop for me.
I’m pretty certain that they changed the drop rate. They used to actually drop from mobs. I think i read somewhere that they decreased the chance of getting another key from the chests as well. I used to be able to open 2 or three chests with one initial key because you’d get more keys from the chests.

I prefer the zodiac skins from gw1 and what were they thinking with that warhorn? I would be happier in general if the effects that weapons had were on the surface of the weapon (tormented weapons/voltaic spears gw1) rather than a field around the weapon (everything in gw2). The particle effects on gw2 weapons all look the same except for the color.
Personal story? Oh you mean the prologue to Trahearne’s story. Funny how he doesn’t seem to fit into the Living Story scene
That is weird how he isn’t in the living story, he was the main player in my personal story so that lead me to believe that he was an important person in tyria…
I got my achievement for it with about 10 min left in the overall event. I jumped between events during the first wave and i’m sure i got the 5 closed in that time but i did not get the notice of the achievement until later.
The personal story was bad, why expect anything different from the living story? I liked the story a lot in gw1 but i still don’t think gw2 has a story, it is all just a mishmash of events.
I do enjoy the horn. Be prepared for so much kitten blowing jokes. Fun times lie ahead. And the weapon skins suck. Doesn’t even come close to GW1 Zodiacs. Please do not recreate tormented weapons.
If they recreate the tormented weapons a put the floaty particle effects around them i’ll be kitten ed. I’m sure they’ll put then in black lion chests though. They wouldn’t be anet if they didn’t.

You must have known that a nerf was coming. I, as well as most people I know, made sure to clean out all their tickets and bags before the patch, as that was one of the more obvious nerfs.
This. When a farm is as lucrative as dead-eye, you get your money and run.

I liked how i had to do something in gw1 for these skins. Now you just have to buy black lion chests and hope you get lucky.
Map exploration definitely helps earn xp. I also used to do a lot of events around release to get xp. Once you hit level 30, do AC because that’s practically a free level right there. I think they nerfed xp gain on multiple runs though.
AC Explorable isn’t terribly hard for experienced players and you may find groups will to take you once you hit level 35 and that can be an easy way to gain multiple levels.
Once you hit 40, do CM. Yadda yadda yadda.
If you had the money, though, crafting I hear is the easiest way to get to 80.
Crafting will get you there in a few hours, depending on how organized you are
After reading all the comments about karma farming for orrian boxes, I think I’m actually starting to understand why they did this. Who knew this was such a valuable commodity? Some guy even said he funded the better part of a legendary with max boostterms and buying boxes? Jeez.
