In what game mode or content is a heal bot needed or wanted?

RAID META INC
or you can say
Old & Busted: Dungeon Meta
New Hotness: Raid Meta
Some people just don’t understand no matter what there will always be a optimum setup (thus meta) to run for content.
Oh, c’mon dude… at least they get to design monsters which takes half damage from critical and 100%+ damage from conditions. Or both? Or under certain criteria? Who knows!
Regardless whatever clears the content fastest and most efficiently will become meta. Whether it is Sinister or Zerker or Soldiers is irrelevant. Not to mention, all content will eventually be trivialized because we, most humans anyway, have the ability to learn and adapt. We will, as a player base, eventually come up with strategies to finish the content the fastest. It is futile to think it will happen any other way. Even with constant changes to the content we will still adapt our strategies and remaximize efficiency to complete content quickly. Some will do it for fun, some will do it for loot, but a good many of us will participate in the meta or a variation of it.
The good thing is there WILL NOT be a LFG tool for Raids. Personally, I’m building up my friends list with good fractal 50 players because those are the people that I expect to be able to learn and adapt quickly to raids.
That’s perfectly normal, it would be weird if it wasn’t, but that doesn’t take the beauty of learning and enjoying the content without being too tightly “locked” into too simplistic setup composition. If anything, it should at least provide better showcase videos than people stacking in a corner, or onto the boss.
No one is ever “locked” into a composition. People choose that. That’s rubbish to think that. I don’t find beauty in learning the content. I find the beauty in the loots. Different strokes for different folks. If I want my loot the fastest I’m going to optimize my parties. If I want to take my time and just lolly-gag around, I’m not going to care what the party composition is… then again, I’m not going to be doing raiding content either… But that’s the kicker. They’re spinning raids as play as you want… but it’s only play as you want to play the way those roles were designed to be played. It’ll be interesting to see how it plays out. Personally, I think it’s going to be like Fractal 50s are now and will eventually done with everyone in the highest dps builds possible with the absolutely least possible control/support. Why? Enrage and there’s healthpools.

Will this expansion address issues in PvE?
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Yeah that pretty much addresses most of my concerns. I don’t understand why they would abandon dungeons, though. That’s a lot of PvE content right there for players.
It’s because most players don’t care about dungeons. Open world content is where it’s at. Time spent updating dungeons would largely be time wasted.
What? Don’t mix opinion with fact. There are dungeon LFG posts every day out there, that get’s insta-full. Granted that they are 80s only party most of the time. Try checking the LFG posts right after Tequatl fight – that’s the prime time since everyone hops on to get their daily dungeon runs done.
ANet just abandoned them, but they’ve taken different approaches to address this. mainly high level fractal and raids, where “skill” plays a very important role in your success. And with a game such as GW2 with such amazing combat mechanics, it’s a shame if you don’t put the effort to utilize it.
This. They didn’t abandon dungeons. They just figured out that it takes less time to build mini-dungeons than it does to build fully voiced 3-path dungeons..
No, the conventional dungeon has been deemed dead content. Colin has confirmed it without actually having to say it. Fractals will become mini-dungeons that Colin expected to be finished in 15 minutes.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/dungeons/Confirmed-by-Colin-Dungeons-are-Dead/
Could you be a little more specific on these “issues”?
On one note, fractals are receiving a huge update with Heart of Thorns.
Yeah, OP was too vague.
If you’re talking about balance, that’s not going to go anywhere because they don’t balance for pve. They balance for capture point 5v5.

As long as you can sell the inscription, right?
Glad to see dlonie gets it. Please reread his response again if you still do not understand, roach.
Yes. Yes you should.
might want to have friends/guildies be placeholders while you’re getting people so that doesn’t happen next time.
Yeah, I’ve been a place holder for a few friends before.
MMORPG:
What about traditional group dungeons? Are you pretty much done with those for now? Leaving them as part of the leveling experience? Or will group dungeons be making a return?
Colin: We’re treating FOTM as our focus on end-game 5 player content. And all additions we make to make the five player dungeon content more fun will expand on Fractals. And then raids will be next level of that.
I don’t know about you but I definitely read that as conventional dungeons are officially dead content. Sometimes one can say a lot without saying anything at all.
I would, but I’m at work and those sites are not accessible. It was on the GW2 twitter feed or FB feed yesterday, IIRC. I mean, he didn’t say out right that they were “dead” but he said they’re not focusing on them and that Fractals and Raids are going to be what they focus on going forward. Reading between the lines I see it that the multi-path conventional dungeons are dead. To reinforce that point Colin keeps referring to Fractals as Anet’s dungeon content (albeit mini-dungeons, IMO), not the conventional multi-path dungeons like COF and AC.

Not sure what you’re talking about, Kuu. I get good loots from the 50. Usually 1-4 exotics, a couple of cores and lodestones, 5+ rares, and usually something good in the chest at the end. Lemme put it this way: I stopped crafting ascended armors because they drop that frequently in Fractals 20-50. Hell, I even got a precursor drop @ chest seal on a 50 (torch pre). That’s generally under a hour for pug groups.
Can’t we just agree to all report this thread as a trolling thread intentionally meant to disrupt the forum and to get the Dev’s to enforce his way to play on everyone else?
It’s a far more mature way to handle it and actually has a chance to succeed. Because let’s face it: dungeons are dead. They are not going to expand them. They are not going to revamp them. There haven’t been significant updates to dungeon content in literally two years (well, one year and eleven months, but who’s counting…)
Raids and fractals are the future. These lovely multipath dungeon instances that we’re so fond of here will never be touched again. That thread you necro’d and got locked about skipping? The one where you ranted against Robert Hrouda? Well, they laid him off (as well as the other dungeon team leads) about two years ago and never replaced them. So I think he does have an excuse to have not changed anything in the time since….You’re lashing out at players and developers because the people managing this game decided to abandon their content. Give it a rest, you’re not winning anyone over to your side.
Yup. Colin gave confirmation in an interview published yesterday that conventional dungeons are dead content left to rot to it’s own device and will not be focusing any development time to them.
Didn’t one of the trailer videos show flying drones? Yeah…
MECHANICAL ZOO INC
…because it probably got pushed back for some reason.
Let’s hope (only a small amount) that it was because they tossed whatever horribly bad e-spec (like a strong healing centered e-spec or pet centric e-spec) they had in place and started over.
Calling it now, aspect swapping will work like attunements. There will be 3 or 4 of them, with one additional active skill that changes based on which aspect you’re in. Aspects will passively buff you and potentially allies, and/or may affect enemies in some way as well. The only variable is the pet. Does it get replaced by the aspect auras completely, are they tied to which aspect you’re in, and if so, are they default, or do they need to be actively beckoned to the field.
Regardless, any of these variations has high potential to be quality changes, done right.
We’ll see…. extremely critical on how they would make the pet play nice with it. Personally, I’d like the aspect, when selected, to absorb the pet for a certain of amount of time (FOREVER UNTIL YOU SWAP ASPECTS, PLS ANET) and gain better damage coefficients, etc.
Yeah…. If your guess’s are close to being right I’ll just wait for the next Ranger elite spec… I mean, I won’t be waiting for it really. I’ll be busy playing the Rev, Daredevil, Ele, Warrior, and Guard.
Again, the bigger problem is the average Ranger player that I’ve dealt with is usually subpar… I’d rather take a subpar warrior or guard than a Ranger because they’ll be worth more to the party…. ANyway, yeah, one BWE to test the Druid and the Forge. That’s it. Big disappointment… Keeping my hopes extremely low and in check because I know they’re designing these elites with 5v5 capture point in mind and not PVE end game. I think following jcbroe’s advice about using it …. that’s the best course of action for sure.
Just give access to the strongest alternative pet skill. Pets are amazing and without a doubt ranger’s synergy with his pet is what defines the skill level for this class. I can’t imagine every giving up my pet. It is an INTEGRAL part to how I play and that is how I imagine the ranger is supposed to feel. That being said it is absurd for us to be expected to control pet skills through use of F3 in order to maintain even the slightest shred of “viability”. It’s such an obvious change but is one that I have personally heard, “Do you know how overpowered that would be?” – Unnamed Dev. This was something that left me frustrated at the time. If that is the case, MAKE THE CHANGE! and then balance ranger around what you have done. Would it make the class easier? Yes. Would it lower the skill floor even more? Yes. And that is the unfortunate truth of ranger. On the spectrum it is arguably the strongest class for the true casual, yet the worst class for the veteran player. This is something that needs to be addressed. Who are we really balancing for? Yet all we can do is sit back and hope that druid can guide us down the path towards that ever sought, yet rarely found, “balance”.
It was John Sharp who made the comment in a PVP (IIRC) stream about two bears just eating the face off of everything if they buffed pets anymore than they already were… which just blew my mind. He is also the Dev that said they didn’t want to give Ranger’s more pet control because it would scare away new players (knowing good well about Ele’s attunements and Engie’s kits are far more complicated than having more control over our pet). Notice after Mr. Sharp left Anet we finally got the keybind option for aggressive/passive…
Anything is possible, I guess…
They still need to make pet names permanent.
That has gone unfinished since launch.
That’s fixed. Tested myself with We Todd Ed jungle stalker.
Just tested it myself and pet names haven’t saved when swapping out. Sure you don’t have a Jungle Stalker as an underwater pet as well?
Ohhhhhhhhhh, maybe that’s what it is. I’ll check again when I get home after I get done fixing a faulty 110v outlet.
Only 4 new armor sets (per armor type)

Yeah… As Test points out, I’m not holding my breath for new in-game armors. If anything, 99% outfits to be purchased with gems and the most minimal they can get away with armors in game… then later they’ll let them be purchasable with gems.
I think we just have to accept that they don’t care about these professions. 2 Months out from launch and they still aren’t ready? Not good.
You do realize that they have internal builds that are weeks ahead of the beta build we’re getting?
So? it’s rather obvious (seeing revenant and the already presented specs) that they cannot balance those based just on internal playtesting. They do need player feedback from the beta weekends, and need it a lot. At the same time it’s also clear that every of those classes that were presented already needs more than just one or two (or even three) beta events to get finetuned. Somehow i doubt that the druid and forge will be exception. We can hope, of course, that they will be at the chronomancer level when shown up, but it’s equally possible that they will be the equivalent of dragonhunter or tempest instead.
However you look at it, the original promises that the betas will last as long as necessary aren’t being kept, and that the launch is (again) rushed for reasons that are completely independent to the state of expac’s completion.
Quoted for truth.
Yup, we need this.
I also disagree that you can know that CGC will be completable “by everyone and their mother.”
Looks like that is exactly what they are aiming for with Raids. So that any party comp can do it.

Far and away the Daredevil. Reaper has a really distant 2nd. The others don’t interest me since all the other elites (except Daredevil — even though it was it seems to be the best one so far for PVE) seem to be designed with 5v5 PVP in mind instead of PVE… which, surprise, is the only game mode I play.
that’s because those other classes lacked something in the area which the elite specs are hopefully making up for.
since you can run berzerker’s gear in almost every mode for pve, i use the term ‘lacking’ for that game mode sparingly.
Well, don’t believe they succeed with that on the Ele or Thief… because it’s just more of the same. Thief class mechanic didn’t even change. Then again, it was what they were lacking in PVP, not PVE… and since I don’t PVP I have no idea what they were lacking there… which is why the elites are lackluster to me.
I doubt much, if any, new armors will come (I know they said they are but gems have to sell to keep the game going read: investors happy). Only craptastic outfits. Even if they did make any new armors as far as medium male goes they’d just be more dresses or skirts for them.
We already need a particle effect slider now. It’s going to be a cluster-phark when legendary armors are available more so than it is now.
All PVP is toxic
Which is one of the reasons I don’t PVP.
Can we get a particle effect slider to turn that stuff off? I can only imagine how bad it’s going to be once legendary armors are a dime a dozen.

Not a new tier, in that it has the same stats as Ascended. It’s just more flexible.

No thanks.
Too much grind for me if they follow the same recipe of current legendaries…. Maybe if they had better stats but I don’t need to change stats, ever.
Nope. Only 1 beta weekend to test the Druid. Isn’t that nice.
Even so I’m willing to those who do have control listen to him…

Rubi: “You can’t have everything.”
Hugh: “Well, we can have a lot of things.”
Said no Dev about the Ranger, ever.
The only racial skill that is useful is the Norn’s Become the Bear for the fire room in the Thermunova fractal island. That’s about it as far as I know… so all my toons I plan on using in Fractals I make Norn for that reason.
I use a variant of it.
Why would you bother? Ranger can solo the Fire Room regardless o.O
True, a lot of classes can solo the fire room, but it’s just a helluva lot easier with Become the Bear.
Is it any surprise Wilderness Survival rates so high? Apart from Healing spring (traited or not)- this line is now is where 9/10ths of our condi cleanse is…. and only in this trait line.
Kinda forces you to pick that one.
Not for PVE
Because it would be technically too complicated.
The server is controlling the pet and your client would have to ask the server to use the stunbrake, rather than activating it itself. Combined with skill-queuing issues, this would more often fail than work.
QUIT TOUCHING MY BRAIN.

This is a pretty good build to start with then modify to your playing abilities/skill:
http://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Ranger_-_S/A_LB_Spotter
I use a variant of it.
That is the problem, Bran. Those of us who’ve been here for over a year know this is going to be a HUGE issue. For Rangers and Engineers.
For my high end PVE I’ll have to play it and see if it’s better than dagger/dagger. I don’t think it’s going to be better than dagger/dagger but, just, different. So far, it’s the first elite spec I’m looking forward to.
And holding out hope for the Druid to bring me back to the Ranger fell quickly after yesterday’s POI because a highly mobile high DPS toon sounds perfect to me… just need to play it in action first.
Seeing as they’re basically making the elite specs with 5v5 PVP in mind, I’m not holding out any hope for them to make the Druid effective enough in high-end PVE to drop the thief, ele, guard, or warrior… not to mention it’ll have to be better than Daredevil and Rev for me to give it any play time.
Kui was who presented on the Engineer on the POI, and IIRC, the Ranger last time there was a POI about the Ranger.
You mean the POI where they joked about buffing bearbow instead of presenting some actual improvements?
I believe that’s the one.
4k hours so far on my main account and I’ve gotten 4 precursor drops. 1 of those was in fractals (Cliffside 50) and another was in COE @ the Norn legendary ice guy (can’t remember his name)….
Kui was who presented on the Engineer on the POI, and IIRC, the Ranger last time there was a POI about the Ranger.
To be fair, they aren’t looking for feedback on the vanilla classes, they’re looking for feedback on the new content and new elite specs.
