Specializations - more customization to stats

It balances out (better IMO) as they’re making it already. Their are already balanced/hybrid sets. The foot part of this is people that might have worn Soldier’s before for survival but traited for more damaging traits can now balance their build through trait selections they normally wouldn’t prefer b/c of stats associated with them. On the other hand Zerker’s can now add I bit of defensive traits that might not have been viable before due to stat loss. This will also make pure builds much stronger. I’m pretty excited about it if they make the stat increases relevant to the current amulets, and not do something stupid like adding more vitality to seekers or making celestial helps OP.

One thing to consider though that I think this change will accomplish is that the stats are gonna be ‘moved’ to the amulet/gear. This no longer means putting 2 into Curses for a messily gain for a power build. Yes it gave good extra bit of damage but 6/0/0/6/6 is looking good tbh.

Except combining than all into DM would suck b/c SR is useful for both condi and power builds. MM is all in one tree and are more than welcome to take SR as well in a MM build. SR is a good place to combine than as a Mater for sure. Power and condi specs don’t really need DRvmuch at all.

How to tone down the Cele damage and Turrets

in PvP

Tman.6349

Yeah Ron. I kind of agree, though pure utility might not be the perfect solution. In GW1, all conditions had a specific amount of damage tied to them (meaning the sources could stack them w/o so much server strain) and applying them was much more active and complex and maintain them often more so (with cooldown rotations). This allowed for condis to be able to have a kind of ‘burst’ style of play, so condis didn’t get left in the dust. I’m actually responsible for a GW1 Elite skill getting nerfed in PvP b/c of my ridonculous Ne/M condi burst. #RiPFeveredDreams I believe they had the idea of it being supplemental damage in GW2 (as I think you’re implying) or as a tool for solo content (ie. the defensive stats that come with it and/or there is absolutely no need to have a guy playing an attrition ‘role’ in group content when you have self heals and personal/team active defenses). I just don’t think they anticipated people completely ignoring their ‘no roles’ philosophy and being so brainwashed into playing them that they would insist in doing so to their own (party’s) detriment often. Everything about what they said for the game has ALWAYS been that they want to have VERY intense and decisive fights. Even the flow of fights between mobs vs cooldowns reflect this (as well as devs flat out saying it pike in one of the Stronghold interviews). Condi builds simply don’t achieve that goal except for in a very small party setting. Now with HoT they’re trying to shoehorn condi in as something I don’t think they were ever meant to be. How many condi actually do damage vs. how many there are? This all points to supplemental damage with more emphasis on ‘debuffing’ for survival. “LFG need condi [X Profession] to start dungeon” was never on their radar.

This ‘so-called’ group of highly skilled, effenciency driven players with excellent twitch reflexes and timing that adamantly insist on using passive, inefficient gear (for their self proclaimed focus/skill level) HAS to be the absolute smallest minority in all of GW2. Even to the point that it seems like an oxymoron and is hard to take serious. :/ Otherwise they just sound like a selfish bunch of ‘anti-conformist’, hipster kittens that are diligently trying to pass their psychological problems with the current system as “trying to make GW2 better” and looking out for the community.

*If some new player asks you “What’s a good build for their profession?” do you literally tell them ‘Berserker’ or ‘Carrion’ or another gear prefix and then go about your business as if those are actually builds/‘roles’? That’s how your arguments sound, which is ridiculous, to say the least.

**Get over the names of the passive stat sets. NOTHING about gear in GW2 is active apart from weapon skill selections. The build system offers plenty of diversity. Group with like-minded people. The “Feedback duration increase” and “Wall of Reflection duration increase” that you think would be so epic and active are already available via traits, though their damage scales with Prec/Fer. hehe

“Over buffing skills that perform well”….. uhm…WoD isn’t even taken in in PvE power builds and, with the slow attack speed/high damage, AoE blinds are, arguably, one of the most powerful defense skills PvE has to offer. I say this as someone who’s speedrun with a S/p thief for almost two years now. WoD sucks right now, for meta builds, even when traited.

Fully traited it reads ~“reduced damage on 2-5 skills for 5 seconds of every 40”….

You’re joking right?

Actually they are good. A 10% damage modifier is always welcome over “+10% Burn Duration and Flame Blast every 10 secs” O.o (seriously?). In a meta dungeon spec, that 10% damage modifier is like adding 25%+ of a Flame Blast’s damage to every single hit.

Also, no, superior runes/sigils can’t be gambled in the forge.

If your panels aren’t stacked, then I’d assume the TP was loading slow and you clicked in the middle of the loading screen (as I’ve seen many people do to ‘hurry it up’ :/) and that is exactly where the ‘Sell Instantly’ button is. Either way, bad timing/placement on the secondary click. Sorry that happened though.

Just accidentally sold expensive item

Tman.6349

Your Inventory and Tradepost panels are on the the same area of your screen. You got the item and wanted to see the price. You right clicked and selected ‘Sell this Item…’ and then you clicked again before the Trade post loaded. You cursor happened to be where the ‘Sell Instantly’ button is and the game registered your click here as the TP was loading. Because the click was registered before any prices had been loaded in, the game automatically sold it for the vendor price of an Exotic quality ‘non-gear’ item. ‘Sell Instantly’ button doesn’t have a confirm message. I know this is exactly what happened b/c I’ve done it a couple times myself, while I was flipping and in a hurry.

The lesson to be learned here is: when you want to check the price of an item from your inventory, click the ‘Buy More…’ button instead of sell, slow down on your clicking, drag your Inventory and BLTP panels to opposite sides of the screen (this is what I did as an easy fix after the second time I did this), or open the TP manually to check sell prices.

Tman.6349

Yeah and you have to spend 8 trait points into defensive lines just to get that measly 3 secs of Protection and leech 300 HPs on a 50 sec cooldown. And I’m talking about only adding 5 secs of projectile destruction to the base skill. Hardly OP. As for stacking effects on skills, one look at traited Steal and eh w/e. To get the maximum out of wells would require 12 pt investment. Two are defensive, one power based, and one condi based. I don’t really see the problem with WoD taking on this role. Unless you use condi Necro and would prefer CPC for biased reasons, then I could understand that and am fine with it. WoD just seems better thematically and it’s not very popular really.

Mobility for skips is simple as “Retreat!”. Let’s face it: our power weapons offer, at best, a two target cleave, we have zero practical Combo Finishers for a dungeon spec, and our only form of anything considered ‘team support’ are Wells with long cooldowns that leave an undesired Combo Field. Mobility and DPS are hardly Necro’s issues in dungeons. Hopefully, Greatsword and some new (well thought out) Utilities will change all of this.

Well of Darkness is a great candidate for projectile destruction IMHO. It would function much like Smoke Screen only as a different Combo Field. Also the size difference between the two skills is scaled pretty well by the difference in cooldowns as well. I think this would be a simple change that already has a similar skill currently so anyone trying to say ‘OP buff’ would sound silly. This skill needs some love. Necro needs some projectile defense. Make it happen Devs!

Tman.6349

The last point Flow made ^ is an important one. Not only does it break stun and convert condis into boons, but it also works on allies. In a team fight, this can be the difference of your Ele not having to swap to Water for a cleanse, instead allowing them to maintain pressure or to keep that Engi from having to destroy his turret or for that Thief so they don’t have to camp stealth as long to clear condis. These things can matter in a team fight, the additional Boons they get as a bonus can completely change the tide of a team fight, especially when a lot of condis are dumped on you at the start of the fight.

As for ‘too many condi clears, having a close fight and then dying after b/c of condis still ticking is the worst. Do you burn CC and hope someone else isn’t immediately on their way to steal the node b/c we rely on our transfers so much? I like being able to convert those into Boons quickly and be on my way to +1 another fight (and not be stuck in combat speed with our crap mobility) This leaves my heal intact and let’s me natural regen and be on my way to the next fight. Granted I don’t play at the highest levels, so I can’t say this is the way to play 100% but I can say that I love WoP and think it is greatly unappreciated and overlooked. I’d be lying though if I said that that auto-proc on Spectral Armor hasn’t served me well also.

Oh OK ^ I see someone was already thinking along the same lines. I think pulling all damaging condis would be better than just one predetermined one though maybe. Aside from the access to Burning, it would also give access to Confusion which, when cleverly transfered, might allow Necro to punish people that get ‘trigger happy’ and try to burst the Necro down. Just this one change (possibly with a small CD reduction) would greatly alter this skill’s role in team fights and give Necro a bit of a support dynamic in such fights. There is no reason at all to take this over WoP for team fights IMO, but I’m a fan of WoP anyway. (Yay for not feeling forced into dual Energy Sigils!)

Been playing around with Plague Signet

Posted by: Tman.6349

Tman.6349

What if it only pulled damaging condis? The last thing in the world a Necro needs is to have mobility impaired anymore than it already is. Would this simple change be enough to make it an option? I really think the CD is a bit much for what it does as well. Maybe kitten second CD and passive only pulls damaging condis, is. Bleed, Poison, Burn, Torment, and Confusion. This would give a more reliable access to Burns (mostly in team fights, where it would shine) for Necro w/o being forced into a convoluted rotation with Dhuumfire. With our survival tied to DS, having to use it so rigidly for Burning is counterintuitive IMO, especially in a condi build with less LF building options.

@Gates: pay no attention to Saturn if he can’t be bothered to read the rest of the thread.
Saying, “well, people already do [x bad behavior] anyway, so at least this other bad option isn’t quite as bad” completely undermines the entire point that we don’t want any dailies that encourage [bad behavior] in any way.

Shiyo and Lopez already said exactly what we want: simple, generic dailies that can be completed passively as long as you play to win. No thought should go into achieving the dailies other than ‘Have I won a match yet?’ and/or ‘Do I need to play another match?’.

With the PvE/WvW dailies, it seems like 2 hrs (world boss timers) is about the max amount of time it should it should take, so maybe ~1hr/3matches would be good for PvP.

This last post was much closer to what we want, although missing the forth alternative. I do think 20 kills should be lowered a bit though. Teams that maybe run home bunker/decap setups might have people that only get a few kills a match. The whole idea is to avoid anything that would modify how people normally PvP to win. The PvP Dailies were pretty good before this updated version. Let’s ‘unfix’ what wasn’t broken.

Make an Element a list and try to get your melee Warrior friend to give the Guardian a try instead of Warrior. Let the ladies do whatever they’re comfortable with and be glad they’re willing to play the game with you in the first place. They can each take on offensive Banner (Strength/Discipline) and equip Healing Signet (strong passive healing) and Shouts (For Great Justice! and Shake It Off!) for their other utilities. This will give them decent output+good party damage support while still being about 75%+ passive. Your friend would offer great defensive support as a Guardian making life even easierfor the women while still being very strong in melee. This will give you the breathing room as an Elementalist to ‘Do all the things!!’, as an Ele does (and excels at).

Based on what you’ve said so far about experience, skill levels, and desires as a team, I think this will be one of your most forgiving/productive party comps and will give you almost every tool you need for the entire game (with the exception of Stealthing options.) 3/4 people being a Warrior will be a LOT of overlap in party options. Trading one for Guardian gives access to strong projectile control, excellent party-wide defense/boons, as well as AoE Stunbreaks/Stability.

Something to consider…
