In a way that would be true, I suppose. But it would also mean that your LF generation on that particular weapon would be 100% based around having conditions in the first place, which means it would only work sometimes. I’d rather have it be more reliable.

True, but 3 of the 5 skills (of scepter/dagger) would inflict conditions, and the other two would work with them to generate life force. Or Dagger4 could give LF based on the conditions it inflicts, since it always blinds. Then it’d be like Scepter3, with a low floor but incredibly high potential payoff.

Not to mention, the synergy this would have for anyone trying to work Corruption skills into their build.

I notice it often happens when players use movement skills as they die, like savage leap.

Exactly this. It is desync. It happens when someone dies while moving in a movement/invuln skill. As for the Necro that this happened with, I’d almost guarantee he was using Runes of Vampirism, got bursted on, then downed from condis while moving in Mist.

Claiming this is some kind of cheat/exploit where dying players are ‘forcing’ server lag is ridiculous.

I think we should close all dungeons as dungeon gold rewards are clearly the main culprit of this insane gold inflation and the reason why i cant get what i want right now.

Lol, that’s quite amusing coming from you, but to add on to the discussion, apparently the OP lives in a vacuum somewhere as there is RL flipping going on all the time…not necessarily with commodities, but certainly with stocks(and some commodities to an extent, all you ever need to do is look at the commodities markets). Wait, I stand corrected, one of the biggest money makers in the US right now is home flipping, though it has it’s risks just like any other type of flipping, there are a number of people that have invested in this market…I need to look to further than my own area to witness it, and as has been stated, as long as people are willing to pay the price there will always be people willing to buy and flip anything and everything(probably even including sex, though I wouldn’t touch that with a 100 ft pole).

Yes you do stand corrected, b/c, IRL, the percentage of ‘middlemen’ (flippers) is WAY higher than the amount of people actually producing goods (look at WalMart). For every factory that makes Nike shoes, there are hundreds of times more ‘retail stores’ that buy those shoes and sell them at a (highly) marked up value. To try to even compare ‘flipping’ to the real world is silly and ignorant and shows a complete lack of understanding of supply/demand AND/VS necessities/luxeries. These aspects of business are not even close to the same. #learntoeconomics

Completely baited ‘request’ for Dev response is baited!! :/

Plz, plz, plz, don’t try to make the four Devs that ever actually respond to us feel more uncomfortable responding to PvP/WvW issues. ESPECIALLY when we’re closing in on the most drastic changes/additions in the games history.

A LOT of us a wanting civilized discussion/feedback about proposed ideas vs our concerns/wishes!

As for your “short straw/I already know” comment, we’ve barely seen a fraction (~30ish%; not even finalized) of what they have in store for the future of GW2. Your pedantic, pontificating presumptions do absolutely no good concerning GW2’s future. The fact that, in in the last 4-5 streams, they’ve said " these are our ideas, BUT numbers (and even functions/implementations) are still subject to change (for overall balance’s sake).

If you’re so ignorant to think that the Devs don’t take PvP/WvW into account, when making decisions, then just uninstall. In GW1, about 30% of the game’s total amount of skills were either prohibited or dialed down in PvP areas. In GW2, they wanted to ‘streamline’ the entire build system, yet, have still split several skills and balanced MANY others purely based on their performance in PvP.

With the condensation of stats to gear, the condensation/empowering of existing trait lines, the addition of some VERY powerful new mechanics (especially in PvP), the addition of a new weapon to existing professions, the addition of a new traitline/set of skills, AND the addition of an entirely new profession is A BIG DEAL in this game right now (at HoT launch really).

If you’re a silly that thinks PvP/WvW is gonna be ‘stagnant with no hope vs PvE’ then there’s not any existing English words to explain how wrong ( and ignorant!!!) that yhois thread is.

Regardless of intent, this doesn’t happen that often. Yeah, some people like to troll by placing an interactable item next to a node, NPC, or other item that spawns an [f].

An alternative way to address this is to add more ‘interact’ options:

  • [f] for AoE loot.
  • [shift-f] for interact with game-spawned interactable
  • [alt-f] for interact with player-spawned interactable

I don’t really care who spawns an item most of the time, but I would like to be able to have more control over the priority of the [f] key than we have now.

Yeah. Sometimes you can just click on what you want to select, BUT sometimes that ‘click hitbox’ is like 1 kitten pixel! :/ “Oh there it is. Wait, no… * moves cursor SUPER slow…yay! Wait, dang it!”

in Necromancer

Tman.6349

I disagree, the use of old mechanics is meant to make more specific runes for them but how will you do that if the skills are not meant to be placed together? If they were so stand-alone why would we have traits that support the mechanic? The rune/trait’s effect for a single shout would have to outweigh the oppurtinity cost of another, more general set of runes/traits. But that would make the effect for multiple shouts op.

While true, we have 4 utility shouts with only 3 utility slots, meaning one shout being the “odd man out” isn’t an issue, because it doesn’t need to fit. I still do think the shout will have a lot of issues being made to actually be a meaningful utility though.

Who says the new runes would have to be for Shouts anyway. They could easily make a run that has direct effects on minions themselves or when summoning a minion(s).

Yeah. After 2.5 years of hardcore speed running tours daily, I’ve got kinda burned out on dungeons anyway. Glad to be fairly rich for all the new shinies for HoT, but I find myself on Power Necro in PvP for the last few months. I’m pretty psyched about the changes there but I still think we’re not gonna have enough for dungeons. Maybe with a group wide Vampiric trait and maybe something else that adds +150 Ferocity to allies. Those two with cleaving chill and vuln stacking might do help. Again not for records but at least make us ‘acceptable’ in general PuG fastclears (pugs don’t do speed clears hehe).

Not strictly true. Every meta build in PvE except for necro has support. And thats why necro isnt any good. :P

Believe it or not the OP has very valid points, however, this game is beyond any kind of help from his suggestions. The Mesmer class seems to be his focus so I will start there.

Clones and pet AI — visual clutter — this was a very poor design decision when trying to pursue esports with no casting bars. Viewership is low because no one understands what they are looking at, not because of clones and pet AI, but it definitely makes matters worse.

Moa. Again a poor design decision coupled with several others. This is not because you are turned into a chicken. It is because it is a large cool down balancing out a large effect. Probably no one left playing would rather have gw1 style elite skills with reasonable effects on reasonable cool downs with a resource management other than cool downs.

Concerning 2v2/3v3. You can defend not having a heal other role as much as you want, but the simple fact is it limits game modes regardless of what the community does in custom arenas considering there are a fair amount of rules that go along with having them actually work well for esl tournaments.

Don’t forget the real joke about gw2 pvp is the skill gap is way too large for how big its population is. To really see how much of a joke it is just go look at the official wiki’s aftercast delay page. Nearly three years after a forced release out of beta from its producer and still key elements are missing.

Now keep in mind all of this is subjective. If the game wasn’t forced out of beta it might have had real ladders at launch and the large skill gap wouldn’t matter if the game was able to retain the massive amount of players it once had. In the end it doesn’t even matter. It is a fun game for what it is. My advice for Anet is to make as much money as they can and learn from their mistakes when planing for gw3.

“Believe it or not, the OP has very valid points…”
“In PvP, the skill gap is way too way too large…”

Tldr: the OP doesn’t have a clue what he’s talking about and is not even mediocre at PvP yet..

Whirl finishers create Leeching Bolts. Blasting/Leaping through Dark Fields for aoe Vampiric Aura (similar to chaos armor from ethereal fields or frost aura from ice fields) instead of the current aoe blind would be perfect for this. Also, Necro has, by far, the most access to Dark fields (5 total) while thief has one and revenant will have two. This could be a great way for necros to add a fairly unique damage buff to a party. Well of darkness+clusterbomb blasts immediately after else does their might/fury rotation. Not epic or anything but could be enteresting still. Especially of Necro could have a trait to buff Vampiric Aura received from his fields.

Dark Armor

in Necromancer

Posted by: Tman.6349

Tman.6349

Because leap and blasting dark fields is lame, they should add a Dark Aura that leeches HP from allies that hit it (1 sec ICD per target, maybe 150-200 hp) and reduces incoming condition duration by 20%. That’d be sweeeeet. Of course, blasting and leaping it would cause it instead of a single blind each. Then they could give back Dark Armor as “Entering death shroud removes 1 condition and gives 3 seconds of Dark Aura”.

Who is with me?!

This is similar to what I was thinking in another thread with Robert’s mentioning of the introduction of a ‘Vampiric Aura’. Also I like your Dark Armor trait idea, but think it’d be better on exiting Shroud. This would give a bit of sustain as you come out of Shroud, as generally that’s a time Necro has been focused and is gonna need the bit of help to have a chance to recover. Exiting shroud with stacks of condos on you kinda sucks. We’ll see what they come up.

Robert called it ‘Vampiric Aura’ which would make sense. It also might have some Aura synergy with things like Runes of Radiance. I’m imagining a standard translucent, colored Aura effect similar to the other Auras in game. Maybe the lime green hue with black smoke similar to the Sunless weapons. Seems fitting for Necromancer. With the addition of one more blast finisher to the Necro/Reaper (whoot), I’d like to see Dark Combo Fields’ blast combo changed from aoe blind to an aoe Vampiric Aura, similar to blasting Ethereal fields.

Come on, cut the guy some slack. Posting crap like L2P and smells like a noob not only doesn’t add anything to the conversation but it also makes YOU look bad, not the OP. Does the guy clearly lack experience? Yes, but that’s all the more reason to try to help and inform him rather then trying to scare him off the forums by basically saying “You’ll get no help here, move along”.

Anyway, back on topic.
To the OP’s point one. Mesmers can be frustrating, but that’s kind of the idea of the class. They’re meant to confuse you. That being said though, there are things you can do to minimize the confusion. Phantasms look nothing like the mesmer and clones are typically immobile and only auto attack. See one running? Aim for it. See one using a skill? Aim for it. If you get moa’d, run away from the point. By doing that you force the mesmer to decide between killing you or capping the point. Any competent player will let you go since he has something more important to do. If he chases you just waste as much of his time as you can and revel in the knowledge that instead of helping his team he’s running around chasing a bird like a fool. And the reason I touch on evasion last even though it was the main point there is because every class has access to it. Abundantly so if you spec for it. Not really sure what to say about that. Dodge more?

Point two.
This is entirely personal preference. Making the fights smaller will not make them more balanced. The reason for this is that certain classes do well and poorly against the rest. Just like in fighting games, bad match ups happen. And will in just about any competitive game you play.

Point three.
Again this is pretty much all personal preference. Now, about this pole thing. I played Lineage 2 for a few years and in that game even in very large multiple hundred strong fights a tank was able to redirect EVERYONES attacks within range to itself and then be healed by a whole group of healers. The result of this was that one person would take all the damage from 20 or 30 people and not die. But nothing could get done untill he did. That is something I wish to never see in any game ever again and is very akin to your pole suggestion. It makes the fights boring and drag on to the point that you might lose interest WHILE FIGHTING. I’d much rather have to look for my target instead of having that control taken away from me.

The only thing I’d like to say something about in your second post is that front line fighters are more prone to the confusion then someone who’s looking at the whole battlefield all the time. And you’re right, there are no two ways about that. But it’s something you have to deal with and has been an issue since the dawn of warfare. The only way to avoid it would be to not make melee classes. But that isn’t fair to the people that enjoy them such as myself.

If you’d like to add me in game I’d be willing to answer any questions you may have. And if I can’t I’m sure I can direct you to someone who can.

Well I hope this helps you out a bit, see you on the battlefield!

~“I appreciate the responses even if none of you know what you’re talking about, but thanks for taking the time to write anyway”, is stubborn and condescending and doesn’t convey the idea of such a ‘serious gamer’ that wants to get better. It sounds more like someone that just wants to complain after showing their complete lack of knowledge, experience, and understanding of the game. Sorry comments like this don’t make people more willing to extend a helping hand but they just don’t.

Yeah. Looks like were on the same page mostly. What about, for “You are all Weaklings!”, instead of adding a bunch of short stacks of Might for each for struck, it instead caps the Might stacks at maybe 5-8(?) With a base of 10 secs (?) And adds 1-2extra second(s) per foe struck. As a stun break and with the weakness, this would make it useful in 1v1s AND team fights and would let the skill be a sort of way to turn the tables on your enemy (in the spirit of their inspiration for Reaper.) This change would also give it MUCH better use in power AND condi builds alike. Right now, it seems like it’s designed to break a stun and then spam as many heavy damage CDs as fast as possible (and how great is four ‘big’ ticks of bleed damage if you’re in a position to maximize the might stacks anyway? :/) This one is on the right track I think but just needs a bit more thought put into it tbh.

As for adding something to “Rise!”, what about adding ‘heal all existing minions for [X health]" or “all minions steal some health on there next 3(?) attacks” or something like this that synergizes with the protection trait for some (skillfull/timed) minion sustain (say…vs cleave aoe which wrecks them). With the CD and Horrors being so weak, I don’t think this seems too op but adds a good bit of skillful play to the shout. Do I pop it to sustain my current minions and save my ‘Novas’ to set up a good burst or do I go ahead and let the current minions pop and then use it for longer uptime on poison fields and to stagger damage and/or to maintain a bit of leech/boon remove/condi transfer/etkittenil my other minions come off CD. I know this may not be perfect, but you get the idea with adding a bit of flavor and decision to using the skill.

Shout Cast-times

I have to agree with Bawb here. The only questionable shout is “Rise!” and I agree with everyone (including RG) that the Horrors are pretty weak for this shout with a 40 sec CD. BUT before you say they are mediocre, you have to realize the shouts have to balanced around their maximum effect while also being decent on their own terms. ‘Augury of Death’ maxes at 35% reduction to CDs on shouts (with 5 targets) O.O That can be incredibly powerful when you include the fact that 5 of the 6 shouts also have MUCH stronger effects with max targets.

Traited with 5 targets:
20% LF (!!!!) every 12 secs plus healing and damage.
Convert 2 boons PLUS 9 secs of Unlockable (!!!) every 24 secs.
3 sec Chill and transfer up to 5 condis (1 per enemy hit) every 28 secs.
100% Weakness uptime (super powerful but neglected defensive condi) O.O
12 sec Chill, 10 sec Resistance, and 2 sec Stun every 75 seconds.

Now add Rune of the Trooper (remove condi from allies on shout; or even without it) and you’re looking at some VERY strong possibilities. For all of these to be instacast (600 range could be made 900 instead?), they would definitely be overpowered.

See, the catch is, this is in optimal situations. Personally I’d like to see diminishing returns on the shouts. I understand that they’re designed for multiple targets, but diminishing returns allows for 2-3 targets being good while preventing 5 targets from being OP. I also think the current cast times are a bit high for some of the shouts.

I understand and agree with that but my post/response was concerning Bawb saying ‘all the shouts being instacast would be OP’ vs ‘all the shouts are mediocre at best’, which I attempted to demonstrate is entirely wrong. Also, the numbers are not concrete AND we were teased with the idea that some changes to base Necro could be looking at a revamp as well. The main change, if any, that I’d like to see is the shouts having their range increased to 900, at least. It is no secret that Necro is incredibly weak vs ranged DPs in teamfights (this is the SOLE reason I run offhand dagger). But pretending the shouts are useless, in any situation, just seems completely wrong from what I understand about some of the revamps to Necros’ synergy among trait lines (this has always been a crippling mess).

While they are all shouts, ours have very strong direct effect on the enemy, making them instant cast would be blatantly OP.

Now I’d certainly agree that certain shouts need to have their cast times adjusted, but instant cast will never happen.

Disagree. They are not strong -they are mediocre imo, some even plain bad.

Would take the Guardian shouts in a heartbeat over these.

It was also good for baiting dodges, removing boons and quickly stacking vuln before going into DS or casting wells to improve UB/Sufferings’ damage w/o depending on their own ‘ramp ups’. Also great for spiking Retal before DS against ‘zoo’ builds. Also great for sustaining damage vs ‘slippery’ builds like staff Mesmer or Slick Shoes Engine (not actual builds but staples of their respective builds). Not saying that Axe was good or for every situation, but it brought it’s own unique style/utility for Power Necros even with it’s pitfalls. Now it’s AA damage has been nerfed by 25%+ (+0.25 to the cast time AND less Vuln stacks as a consequence). This is not ok or justified in any sense of the word. In all the opinions I’ve ever seen concerning Necro Axe, “Necro Axe is OP and wrecks everything in it’s path!”, would be the most fundamentally wrong statement that could be made about any weapon since the games launch. :/

‘dodging off a cliff’ wasn’t mentioned by the OP and has nothing to do with his problem. Anecdotes are useless to problem solving anyway.

What he means is, just stack a bunch of defense and hope you and your minions kill something before you die. Hehe :p

What A net could do about it is slim to nothing though I’m pretty sure.
Just need more practice OP. Also try rebinding keys to be more efficient and change options you do or don’t want/need.

Yes Penguin, but if you have that option disabled (I use arrow keys to run, for instance) and you have dodge hotkeyed, the often you will dodge away from your enemy no matter your orientation to them. Still yet, if you have melee assist enabled, and are within range, you’ll often dodge toward the enemy. I have my entire board mapped custom and have got used to how this works, but I could understand others’ frustrations.

They’re cycled somewhat randomly so this can happen (once a month or so). Besides, the more Relics the better when you’re trying to finish Asc. gear on 13 80s.
