How to use runes?

in Players Helping Players

Tman.6349

Equipping runes is based on the level of gear and not the level of the char so you might have to update your gear before you can equip new runes. Also runes can be equipped at lvl1/30/60 for minor/major/superior respectively. The message is letting you know that the current rune will rlace the existing rune in that armor piece and also that masterwork or better armor becomes soul bound when you equip it, apply runes/sigils/upgrades to it, or apply a weapon armor skin to it. Unless you’re dealing with superior runes, you have nothing to worry about as far as experimentation is concerned b/c the runes/sigils are cheap and NOTHING really matters until level 80;anyway. Just use whatever drops you get until then and sell or salvage the rest. Level 1-59/79 are for exploration and mean very little.

How many lvl 80 characters do you have?

This is all based on if you are actually talking about CM and not some imaginary dungeon.

Me: This boss is anti-melee so use range here.

Don’t lie to your party. Not cool.

I might have to explain something to an inexperienced group when they should be using melee

Always

I might have to explain something to an inexperienced group when they should be using range

Never

‘Spider Room (forget boss name) in TA story, Aether path in Ta, boss in underwater fractal, end boss in Grawl fractal, “mouth guy” from Arah story, several world bosses, plenty of other anti-melee examples where ranging is much more effective or practical…but I’m sure these are all just part of my imagination too…

I can look up the names in a bit if you need ‘photo’ evidence of the imaginary creatures that punish using melee and, although this is specifically about dungeons, some of my examples aren’t as the whole thing was a reference to helping players and not a debate about ‘range vs. melee’ as you got out of the entire post

Lol about the CM story post. CM is my favorite dungeon and I do a full clear (all 4 paths) daily, and I’ve never seen so many wannabe ‘pros’ get wrecked so maliciously. Lot’s of APs…wrecked. Legendaries/‘high-end’ gear…wrecked. Cracks me up sometimes to see people get their egos shredded.

Aside from all that, I’ve found that APs are only a good indicator of peoples awareness of game mechanics, is. dodging/reflects/etc. Tbh though, unless I recognize someone, I usually PREFER lower AP scores (500 to maybe 2/3k) as these are most often the players that have a firm grasp of the game but are still willing to learn and/or take advice. I’ve ran dungeons enough that I can explain encounters in a quick and concise way that it’s not gonna drag the clear time down anymore than posting silly LFGs often does. Sometimes I have to laugh at the requirements of some of the ‘speed clear’ groups knowing they won’t even have a party ready for sometimes 5-10 mins. Lol…how ‘efficient’ O.o

Me: This boss is anti-melee so use range here. (High AP/lvl 80 warrior (who already knows better uses melee and gets wrecked in two seconds….)

Me: Hey Guardian, can you run some melee and pull these adds together please? (High AP/lvl 80 guardian running in circles with scepter/shield says “I’m no use if I’m dead”

Me:OK stay here plz and I’ll pull the next group (lvl 80 warrior runs past me and aggroes an entire room and is dropped almost immediately)

The point is, I might have to explain something to an inexperienced group, when they should be using melee or range, when they should have reflects/blinds/etc on there bar vs. their standard signets they’ve been running, BUT they usually listen and act accordingly and that has been the core of many smooth, quick runs that let inexperienced players learn the ‘proper’ way w/o consulting a guide.

“Lfg Experienced only” sometimes translates into, “I ran it 3 times just after launch”
“Lfg X,000 AP only” translates to “I gather daily and have killed plenty of ambients”
“Lfg zerk only” sometimes means “I have a zerker amulet to go with my PVT gear”

Everything is vain! If you want to run with good players, sometimes it can help to teach players how to be good.

Rangers have no respect in dungeons!

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Tman.6349

Normally I’m a fairly relaxed team member when it comes to pugging people. What really irks me about rangers that join my group is that on countless occasions, they’ll use Point Blank Shot on a set of mobs that have been perfectly grouped.

Why do they do that? Seriously. I once asked and the reply was, “Because it was off cooldown.”

Okay, I understand and I’m willing to accept you not doing the best you possibly could do, but when you start trolling me by pushing mobs around and forcing me to be less effective, I’m much more accepting of seeing someone vote-kick a ranger.

Edit: So yes, your title is very accurate. Rangers have no respect in dungeons.

I main a Theif but have 10 80s and play all professions. I can’t count the amount of times I’ve been in a dungeon and seen this though on whatever char i feel like using that day. I see it all the time and immediately tell them the skill is for DEFENSE and not a ‘spam on cooldown’ skill. Most often this skill drags down the DPS of the entire group. A warrior launching HB or Guardian using WR and out of nowhere Ranger runs up and uses PBS blowing all of the targets out of the damage range. O.o Most often though, I give them the benefit of doubt before I say anything as I love my Ranger and am well aware of how good a Ranger can be, but the first time I see this happen I have to say something.

Ultimately I think it would help for people to quit telling new players who ask about what is a good proffesion to start/level with to recommend Ranger. This get’s them in the ‘Bearbow’ solo mentality and that is the problem with most Rangers tbh. They don’t learn how to dodge effectively. The don’t learn situational awareness, ie. learning when to move thier pet in and out of combat, change/alternate targets, swap between melee and range depending (knowing) when it is going to be most effective to do so, as well as using different skills to move around and use combo fields or buff allies to be most effective. Ranger may be ‘easy’ to go through the game with but it is NOT easy to play perfectly/effectively and the noob ‘soloing’ experience teaches so many bad habits that are not welcome in group play. So those people telling new players “Ranger is easy to learn/level” are gonna be the same people kicking THOSE Rangers out of groups a few weeks later with all their self-taught bad habits.

Before you get too ‘kick happy’ take a look at a players AP or ask how long they’ve played Ranger or, at least, just give them a short chance to prove themselves. I’ve had MANY groups try to kick me or ask if I had something else to bring and after letting them know that I’m a compitent Ranger and I know what I’m doing, I’ve read “I stand corrected” or “Wow! Great work Ranger!” or “Well, you’re an exception to the rule”. Rangers are not inherently bad. They learn to be bad.

That weapon is called a shiruken and is basically a larger version of a throwing-star. A glaive is a pole arm style weapon with a sweeping curved blade on the end. Basically, a spear with a sword on the end of it. There are versions like the halberd that have an armor-piercing tip with a less prominent blade but glaives are used in a bo-staff sweeping kind of manor.

a GS ranger that is running full damage elsewhere with a LB or SB might be a good cantidate as the toghness and healing (ranger has tons of regen and condi remove with Healing Spring) will help him stay alive pretty well in combination with the natural evade asssociated with the auto skill chain. it has Power on the sword itself and the natural +10% damage increase would make up a tiny bit that you’d lose from you zerker GS. other than that i don’t have much recommendation cept maybe staff for a guard but that’s MEH or even the GS for the Guardian but i truely think that a Ranger with a LB or SB would be the one to get the most benefit from this sword. also don’t forget you can add a bit of stats to it and soon TWO sigils so I say Ranger all the way

Check out GW1 Polymock Arena for an idea of exactly how "Mini Battles’ could be emplemented. Polymock was a Pokemon sort of battle with a GW skill twist added. You started with a ‘default set’ of 3 Polymocks and could collect more as you win. When entering a round you would choose 3 Polymock Pieces to do battle with. There was a system of rarity, similar to ours now with minis, where pieces were more powerful the higher level of rarity they were. But you could only have of the highest rarity. Blue, green, and gold. So you could have 3 blues, 2 blues and a green, a blue and 2 greens, 2 blues and a gold or a blue a green and a gold. It was a very fun game and each piece had only 5 skills which were ‘fairly balanced’ though there were a few that were kind of OP once you could finally aquire them. I think this same system could be applied to minis though with the huge amount of minis, programming the skills would be a bit of work for animations, effects, and balance so perhaps they might have to release a set of “Polymock Minis” which could have a much more shallow pool to choose from and be mixed between a reward system in game, some in the gem shop, and mabe rarer ones as a prize for consecutive wins or by some sort of ‘arena point system’. I don’t think it would be a whole lot more difficult than say the SAB or something of that nature as the arena itself wouldn’t have to be the grandiose thing. The toughest aspect would be the ‘polymock mini set’ and the skills/balance.

This isn’t just something like SAB or other events though that once you beat them it’s over and there’s no incentive to return. The Polymock Arena might not appeal to every single player but it is still an addition to the game that would have LIFELONG PLAYABILITY (as far as the game is active anyway.)

There could also be some Gem Store related items such as diffent Polymock Pieces as well as, perhaps, new Polymock Arena Backgrounds. IE. the standard is just a gladiator style arena but those who host a match might be able to take the fight to a ‘jungle scene’ or a battle to the death in Mt. Maelstrom, coordinating the background with the ‘flavor’ of the chosen mini set. There were also NPC enemies you could go up against to earn prizes so it wasn’t PvP Polymock but it could be as well. Perhaps the loser would give up his lowest ranked pieces but idk.

Sorry i’ve rambled too long, though I did enjoy the first incarnation very much as frustrating as it could be.

Yeah, let’s not even consider this one item would involve an implementation of a completely new system of inventory for those who would get it, it would make no less than 3 gem-based purchases virtually obsolete, and, last but certainly not least, it is exactly THIS sort of feature that has lent itself to item duping in nearly every single game that has ever implemented such a feature. The other threads on the topic aren’t found on the first two pages because it is a failed pipe-dream and most of the rabid enthusiasts eventually gave up after a year and a half of not one single Dev response to the many threads asking for said system. Ranger Shouts & the Soldier Rune

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Tman.6349

technically “Fear Me!” and “On My Mark!” are treated by the game as AoE shouts and, therefore affect allies within their AoE range. However, Ranger shouts are ALL targeted at the pet and are treated by the game as targeted effects causing the Rune of the Soldier to only apply it’s effects to the ranger and his pet. You don’t remove conditions from your pet only, it also procs on the ranger himself which is still useless but can be good I guess if you insist on using shouts for your ranger which i think is completely silly in the first place but that’s just my opinion. Furthermore, I am at a loss as to why they would create a rune that is only usable for 3 of the professions in the first place but that’s a differant can of wurms.

eles have a ton of skills at thier disposal and can be built for many different things. they are good in every aspect of the game but not nacessarily the best at anything. they are highly mobile including access to tons of swiftness, vigor and condi cleanses. they can be built as great bunkers (tanks) for point control in pvp. they can be built to dish out huge aoe damage. they can be built as excellent boon machines with all of their combo fields and aura sharing. they can be built for a great healing/support ally usually in tandem with their boon building. they can be built for good melee with dagg/dagg, good midrange with scepter/dagg, or for great range combat with a staff. their huge amount of skills via attunement swapping encompass a wide variety of single target damage, aoe damage, crowd control (ie. chill, immobile, cripple, knockback, blinds), and they also have access to a huge amount of conditions. they have highly revered summoned weapons which can also be equipped by another ally allowing for huge damage/control spikes or they can summon ‘pets’ to help deal with some over aggro and do some passive damage (mostly useful for soloing). to sum it up, the elementalist is highly versatile and has a huge amount of tools at thier disposal. the main drawback to an elementalist is that they have so many tools in their bag of tricks that many people can become overwhelmed and try to make a sort of ‘jack-of-all-trades’ which is very detrimental to the elementalist as they have relatively low stats compared to most of the other professions to make up for the versatility. this is often the case with most of the professions though tbh as the build system is designed in such a way that it’s too easy to add ‘a pinch of this and a dash of that’ because all of the professions are fairly varied and can, for the most part, be built for the same kinds of things. my ultimate advice for you as an elementalist is to decide on ONE MAIN ROLE (ie. critical dps) or perhaps maybe even two SYNERGETIC roles such as healing and boon support (although healing is scaled terrible in this game, ele is one of the best for it and can provide protection, might, regen, fury, swiftness, etc to entire parties). whatever you do, just remember to try to keep your build with your Ele pretty focused as that is really what you need to do to be an effective ele. this is true with builds in general but other classes can sometimes have a bit more leeway with their generally higher base stats. hope this helps good luck and maybe you not get carpal tunnel associated with playing an elementalist :p

Ranger - Pet stats are showed incorrectly

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Tman.6349

i understand and as i said above this is some sort of issue they have with the tooltips for ‘profession mechanics’. i don’t understand what the programming issue is exactly. the rangers statistics (including condi dur, condi damg, crit dmg) do not effect the pets. engineers have this same problem with using the HGH trait. it states on the toolbelt skills that tossing elixirs will give 2 stacks of might as the trait is supposed to. however, the trait only refers to using/consuming elixirs (6-0) for the 2 stacks of might and tossing them (f1-f4) only gives you 1 might, though the tooltip says different. i think it is a similar thing going on with the ranger’s pets. tooltip bugs are a dime a dozen in this game though and they’ve been working on them since launch and have come quite a long way i might add. they do still have a long way to go however. you’ll also notice as you’re changing traits, stats, weapons, and or skills that a LOT of the tooltips will be wrong for traits that should effect other traits (ie. +33% burn duration in Firearms with +cond dur% from explosives for Engi) or where multiple traits/stats effect the same skill, often the game will only recognize and apply one of the alterations to the tooltip. with the diverse build system, i assume, it’s tough to program every concievable change for each of the tooltips or maybe somehow it has a ‘precedence system’ where it prioritizes certain effects for tooltips and disreguards others. i’m not saying this is “okay” because it’s frustrating when you’re trying to min/max a build but, for the most part, the game DOES still apply all necessary effects to most skills despite what the tooltip stats (ie. the HGH trait on tossed elixirs).

I also realize this is incredibly frustrating for a ranger trying to min/max where a LOT of their traited effects ONLY work while in combat but then, as a catch 22, you can’t swap traits while in combat ranger is the one proffession i’ve lilterally had to sit with a pen and paper for sometimes hours bouncing in and out of combat while making tweaks and adjustments trying to optimize the 3 primary builds that I use with him. the bottom line though is that the tooltips for the pets are wrong. they are not effected by ANY of the rangers different traits/stats/attributes unless specifically stated in the trait itself. (ie. condition duration for pets can only be altered by using the appropriate trait and will never be effected by the rangers stats/runes/sigils/etc.) i’m sure this isn’t the kind of answer you’re looking for as my first one was only a more concise version of what i’ve written here but it’s the best i can do and “well it’s a pain in the kitten we all have to deal with/ignore” is not a suitable solution in any context tbh but atm that’s what we have to deal with so it’s the best i can offer

a lot of the pet augmenting traits only work while in combat so be sure to check and see if that’s what’s going on. as for the ’ranger’s stats’, they don’t effect the pet in any way. pet doesn’t get the boon duration, crit damage, condi dur, or anything else that the ranger gets from investing in trait lines. that is why there are specific traits for these different things. though as i said the traits will only effect your pet while in combat.

Ranger Shouts & the Soldier Rune

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: Tman.6349

Tman.6349

this is because the #6 of the rune ONLY effects those affected by shouts. Ranger shouts, unfortunately, only ‘effect’ themselves and their pets so only they will get the condition removal. these runes are barely mediocre if you’re running a full shout ranger but tbh healing spring removes more conditions and heals so unless you just really want to use shouts rather than something more effective, i’d say scrap these runes and get your condi remove from traits or HS. this’ll leave you open for a lot of more effective utility and rune combinations. Rune of the Ogre can be good for an extra ‘pet’ to draw aggro and do some passive damage as well as the +% damage it gives. Scholar is also a very good choice for Ranger as they generally have no problem maintaining >90% hp. Soldier runes are great for shout guards and warriors but not so much for ranger unless you just need the extra condi clears in your build for whatever reason.

It has nothing to do with me moving or facing a different direction or moving the camera. I’ve played since launch and it’s not such a silly oversight. What I DO think it has something to do with is the camera trying to automatically re-orientate itself toward the selected target. So if a huge attack is coming from right behind you as you rally etc. and you quickly try to evade/move in the opposite direction out of harms way, then the rapid camera spin will ‘reverse’ the direction of your movement causing you to roll right into the attack for, possibly, another instant down. It can be rather frustrating in tight areas such as CM.

Tman.6349

According to wiki ( http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Weapon_swap ) elementalists do weapon swapping “by switching between attunements”.

that’s some odd interpretation, you got there

wiki

Weapon swap is the mechanic of switching between the two equipped weapon sets (default key: ~). This ability is unlocked when your character reaches level 7 for all professions except Engineers or elementalists, who use a similar mechanic.

Engineers can trigger on-swap effects by changing kits; elementalists do so by switching between attunements.

first part clearly says, that engineers and eles don’t have weapon swap
part 2 says: attunement is different mechanic which can trigger on-swap effects
it’s even affected by ele’s unique trait (Attunement Recharge Rate)

not to mention warrior runes description is misleading. it’s not -1 second, but 9 seconds instead of 10. e.g. it don’t work with warriors 5 second swap trait

tl;dr;

weapon swap, attunements switching and kits changing are different events , but share same on trigger effect

that’s some odd intepretation you have there…it says that weapon swap is unlocked at level 7 except for Engineers and Elementalists who share a similar mechanic (ie. kit swapping (can be used at level 2) and attunement swapping (can be used at level 1) respectively). These are THE “similar mechanic” to weapon swapping, although, they are prefession mechanics. They are, effectively, identical to weapon swapping in every way. There is no bug with the other sigils. They are meant to proc on kit/attunement swaps. Hopefully, we will see Rune of the Warrior fixed when they do the sigil/rune update next month, though i won’t hold my breath. I thought it might just have to do with swapping only allowing it’s reduction by one source but that’s clearly not the case if you had no trait points allocated to the Arcana line and Engis surely don’t get to have a 0 sec kit swap with these runes as well.

This is a glitch and is not necessarily linked to immobile at all. There are at least 10 other threads on this very same subject. I’m not gonna say much more as I already have on other threads. Bottom line is this hasn’t been fixed yet because it is a very random bug with random triggers as well as several different ways to overcome it; one of which being using an emote such as /dance. I’ve already had a lengthy talk with a Dev in game and I assure you they are looking into it. If you pay attention to the psychological aspect of what is ACTUALLY written, it’s plain to see it’s just another thinly disguised poke at the “zerker Nerf” which is in dozens of other threads and this one is just as exaggerated and silly as the rest of them. Granted that the ascended gear has been completely against everything that GW1 was founded on concerning grind, players having statistically equal gear, and encouraging build creativity and diversity, the damage has been done however. I don’t think a dozen or more of the same threads is gonna change any of it. Especially ones that aren’t straightforward about their motives in the first place.

Nice try mr. psychoanalyst, but also completely wrong.

There’s nothing thinly veiled about it. I’m not happy with the fact that one of the best crafting challenges in the game results in armor that has stats set in stone, coupled with the fact that Anet has proven they are willing to change or even completely remove said attributes/stats (see magic find).
It is a huge time/gold sink for results that can not evolve with the a “flavor of the month” style balancing.

So it’s about the uncertainty of stats you grinded for remaining consistent in the future which, in turn, stems from the outrage of the rebalancing of the critical damage modifier. Yeah, you’re still proving my point.

If you take timing, dodges, application of boons, strafing/positioning, use of terrain, use of damage mitigation, and everything else that are the hallmarks of a good player and still believe that 50 power is a ‘game changer’, you are either making an excuse for being a poor player OR trying to defend your enormous waste of gold/materials thinking it would give you a true advantage. I’m r40 in PvP and I can assure you that skilled play will ALWAYS trump such a meager stat difference. Likewise, if the players are equally skilled, the 50 point spread is still gonna be a non-issue. The cost of each % of MF increases exponentially. To max it is over 4.5 million pts of luck. However, 150% MF is roughly 480K pts of luck. So for roughly 10% of the maximum cost of MF you get 50% of the maximum effect. I think this is pretty telling of how quickly the per suit of maximizing this stat can start to actually have the adverse effect of coosting more than you could ever hope to gain from it. Personally, I’d suggest at stopping at (or shortly before) 150% as you will still continue to gain luck points via dailies, monthlies, Black Lion chests, and other sources for the remainder of the time you play the game which will slowly add to your total MF in a natural sort of way. Tbh, those that were in such a rush to spend thousands of gold to cater to their OCD sense of completion and/or advantage have done so to their own retirement as they have thousands of points of luck trickle in over the next years of gameplay that will be completely useless. Ironically, therefore, I don’t see having maximum MF already as any kind of an achievement, but rather a show of very poor judgment, logic, foresight, and practicality. +300% of virtually nothing is STILL virtually nothing. Granted there is a noticeable difference between +10% and +110%, diminishing returns sets in VERY fast during average farming/dungeon running so I could never imagine anything over 150% doing much good anyway unless you’re only able to ‘power farm’ for 30 mins a day. ….ssooooo….it’s basically silly and pointless? by this description^^^ it seems like an incredibly forced ‘stories around the campfire’ kind of thing…or am I missing something?

Well, people come up with back stories for their characters, and usually in guild, interact with each other. It’s a different way of playing. Like, some people like RPing because it adds more story to the game, which gw2 might be lacking. It’s a way to have a personal story that you sort of guide.

Example: my guild used to have these RP sessions in DR where we all used the inquest I tonic and planned terrible plans of taking over DR. People around us joined in, listened, and other such things while our terrible evil plans were foiled. It’s a way of having fun, making your own stories, and using everything you have around you as a prop.

Plans were foiled? So ALL that effort and you didn’t actually sieze control of DR?

25% speed increase for every class

Tman.6349

There are actually TWO runesets that give +25% speed and one is fairly cheap though not as useful as Traveler runes. Guardian AND Mesmer do BOTH have rediculous defensive setups and are great at killing should something happen to chase them down. I think maybe the were meant to HAVE to sacrifice some of their natural prowess on order to ‘go fast’ but that’s just speculation. If you ever have something you need to destroy around the house/yard and need some motivation, forget about death metal music and roll a Charr Mesmer for a couple hours! Lol iI think this could be used for professional fighters as well.

Clone Wars 2 or Why Meta Builds are for Sheep

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Tman.6349

‘Meta builds’ are subjective, arbitrary, and a terrible disease in this game that inhibits true creativity. Their cookie-cutter characteristics have the effect of new players copy-pasting and never learning what each of the professions are truly capable of from both, an OFFENSIVE AND DEFENSIVE standpoint. When you just copy a ‘meta build’ because “it’s the best”, you do not learn the intricacies of what said build is or isn’t capable of making said ‘efficiency’ trivial anyway. This is the exact reason I don’t share builds and, instead give new/other people some basic “building does and don’t” and encourage them them to create their own as that is how they will play their best. The ‘efficiency’ of a build has just as much to do with the player’s understanding of the build as it does with the build itself. I’ve played since launch and have heard “meta this” and “meta that” forever now so forgive LMAOing at the fact that “Meta” is the root word meaning “change”! LOL

Been using SB/GS Ranger forever and was often heckled for it….and now…lol…“dude, Ranger GS is such a great weapon!”

Been using Staff/GS Mesmer forever and was told it sucked and heckled for it…and now… “dude, Staff/GS Mesmer is so good! Have you tried it?”

I have too many examples to list, but the point is that their is NO META!!! There IS, however, a huge group of mathletes that think they have it ALL figured out and that their way is ‘optimal’/superior to anything/everything else. The whole point/consequence of the build system is that there IS NOT a ‘one to rule them all’ build and anyone who thinks otherwise is fooling themselves, a complete tool, or both.

The complete subjectivity/relativity of different builds aside, these sweeping assertions and elitist philosophies are fundamentally flawed from the foundation any. The way people ‘test’ for the highest DPs among the classes is a shining example: “assuming I’m in a coordinated party with no harmful/nagating conditions and the enemy stays perfectly in place taking all of my damage and has no buffs of his own and all my crits/damaging traits/other influences all process and I have Fury and 25 stacks of Might and the enemy has 25 stacks of vulnerability…then MY XYZ build with X profession has the highest DPs in the game!” “So there is my indisputable proof that MY ‘meta build’ is THE best, most efficient way to build your character and has been thoroughly tested with math/theory crafting as well as fighting training dumbies and non-combat golems!”

Disclaimer: please note and understand I left out actual combat in my assumptions/calculations as there seems to be some kind of bug that was skewing the data results I wanted….errrmmm…I mean expected.

Is Anet destroying the game?

What if OP or someone else invested tons of time and money to get a berserker’s set of ascended gear? And now it’s nerfed. Fair?

It’s not like he can come up with another set of gear in a day or two.

Berzerker gear isn’t getting ‘nerfed’ more than any other gear that uses crit damg and, in fact, will be better off than say assassin’s or celestial. Zerkers wear the gear b/c it has the highest DPs general speaking, so, with the other DPs sets getting the Nerf bat as well, I’d be really interested to know what other gear it is you believe he would be interested in switching too. Oh wait, that’s right…zerker will still be the highest DPs set making this argument completely rediculous.

Not if the risk now outweighs the reward. Which is is likely in pve and doubtless in wvw.

What risk/reward? If you’re good enough to run zerker and not take leathal damage now, then you’re gonna run zerker and not take lethal damage afterward. O.o If you’re a bad and can’t run zerker now, then….

Suggestion: Eliminate Armor Classes

How about PvPers using gear as a tell regarding what classes they are fighting against. If I see a heavy armor set 2000 units away, it is safe to bet I will notice them coming at me while I’m otherwise engaged in combat. I should expect quite an animation or at least some running before anticipating an attack. Now take a thief in that same armor who can steal/poison/daze/etc from 1500 units away…I’m sure you can see where I’m going with this. Also there’s already 3-4 threads regarding this same topic.

Or they could make cultural armors available across the board.

Human characters, in GW1, could wear armors designed by the other races.

Such as Asuran armor and Norn armor.

But these armors required your character to have rank 5 in a reputation title track of their territory. So to buy norn armor, you had to be a “Slayer of Wurms” with 26,000 reputation points, earned by killing things, vanquishing entire zones, fighting norns at resurrection shrines, fighting in the tournament in Gunnar’s Hold, etc.

People complained that these titles were a grind, so they were never passed on to GW2. Now, ArenaNet has repetitively reinforced the boundaries between the races and what cultural armor they can wear. They even rolled back servers when people used cultural armor on the races they weren’t supposed to be worn on.

I wouldn’t hold my breath on them making cultural armors available to all races. They reskinned the human light T3 and plastered flames and made it available to all races for money, not for free. Designing let’s say.. asura heavy T3 to work on a charr/norn.. will probably take more persuasion than wanting it as a free update.

‘Human characters in GW1’? Uhm…yeah…ALL characters in GW1 were human and, therefore, cultural armor didn’t exist.

Warrior is as generic as it gets. I can think of a ton of different areas of PvE where I’d rather have a mesmer any day tbh. Boon sharing, stealth, reflects, aoe quickness, portal, etc. Mesmer just has a higher skill ceiling to be optimal though. If you intend on getting into PvP at all, mesmers eat warriors for lunch. Your call really.

Speculation mixed with assumptions, some exaggeration, a bit of hyperbole, a dash of emotion and a sprinkle of over-reaction; all the ingredients for a tasty QQ casserole. 10% crit damage and a bit less healing on a signet is gonna tank the entire game huh? Don’t forget they are fixing/buffing a bunch of runes/sigils AND adding a second sigil slot to two-handed weapons. So let’s be objective and see how it all works out before we scream ‘the sky is falling’ mkay…

this has actually been going on since dec 10 gamewide. i talked to a dev ingame today though and they are looking into it. me and my friend were messing around and it happened right in front of him which was kinda cool b/c it’s a completely random bug so it was a good chance to show him we’re not all crazy XD idk why we haven’t got any feedback on the forums as there have been 5-10 threads posted about this very same issue over the last two months. i told him all of my experiences with this bug and tried to give him as much info about it as i could but like i said this bug is completely random. granted there are a few things that seem to trigger it generally such as coming out of control effects, coming out of forms, and just after using WPs or ending CSs. this has happened in pvp, wvw, dungeons, standing in LA etc so just be patient with them on this one b/c i don’t think it’s gonna be easy to narrow down tbh. dancing does indeed fix the issue about 3/5 times or so yet others a full reset is needed. sometimes all commands and chat lock, sometimes skills lock but movement skills will break you free, and others simply jumping or WPing will fix it so eh O.o it is very frustrating though especially for somebody that likes to pvp and run dungeons a lot. this bug has screwed me over quite a few times over the last couple months so i hope they get it figured out. if i hear anything else about it i’ll post it here and hopefully he’ll get all these threads merged so we can get a consensus of what’s going on exactly.

is daedly arts – VII trait bugged?
i use steal after i have all venoms on CD, but it not refresh CDs, only 2 times work right
thanks for answers

not bugged. it recharges one of the 5 utility skill types on a successful steal. it equates to a ~20% chance to recharge your venoms on steal. furthermore, the game does not treat stolen items as bundles although the description would tell you different. personally i don’t care too much for randomness in my builds and find whatever great benefits it might provide to be completely moot when you consider it is entirely situational.
