Double purchasable bag slots

Yeah…and who doesn’t want to try and remember what they have spread across 64 mule characters. Not only is that an inappropriate response, but it is a ridiculous suggestion, as well.

@OP:I don’t think this is an impossible suggestion. I just don’t think that the Devs ever anticipated players who prefer to only create one character, the CRAZY amount of space it takes to have multiple gear sets for different builds, or the silly inconveniences of things like leveling/crafting Cook on your main as you play the game. Never mind all the food, potions, nourishment, consumables, event/festival items, etc. that you have to store when primarily using one profession.

Personally, I have 10 geared 80s that I use for different areas/aspects of the game, so I don’t have this inventory issue, but I know others in your same situation. The only things I can recommend, in the meantime, till they add more bag-slots, is buying extra bank-slots or creating a ‘personal guild’ and upgrading it’s storage capabilities. It will cost, approximately, 8.5g for the guild and the influence to upgrade it to 150 spaces. One thing to be aware of, concerning the guild storage method, is that you will not be able to store ‘bound’ items there. I have had one since launch, though, and it has served me well.

How to Implement Dueling in GW2

Posted by: Tman.6349

Tman.6349

How to implement dueling:
-designate an area of the game for Player vs. Player combat
-give players the option to create their own customized PvP instances
-mission complete

Not the same. You can’t use your PvE/WvW gear. If I wanna test my WvW build with my buddy, I can’t. Going into SPvP isn’t the same. The numbers are different. I don’t get why people are against having dueling. Just make it so you can only duel people on your friend list.

I’m on TC; I don’t roleplay, but I don’t mind watching it. You ever see an RP duel? It’s really boring. If only they had a way to actually fight each other instead of doing the in game equivalent of LARPing.

What you’re suggesting is open-world PvP, which is a dead horse that has been beaten to a bloody pulp, so don’t insult my intelligence with nonsense about wanting to test your build with your friend. Yes, the ‘numbers are lower in PvP, but the gear is balanced in the same manner so the outcome of your ’build testing’ will be fairly reliable.

As for the RPers need open-world PvP to spice up their “boring” playstyle, you said yourself that you’re not an RPer so you don’t have any business making assertions on their behalf. I also think that most of them would be offended at your degrading claims/opinion of their preferred style of play. Surely, when they can’t to truly fight things, they go out to an appropriate location and ‘hunt down the Champion Troll that wrecked their close-friend’s villa’.

In just this same manner, if you want to do battle against other players, you can venture off to one of the SEVERAL designated PvP areas and duke it out till the cow’s come home. Trying to put a silly new spin on a very old (and largely undesired) debate is insincere, and seems even more so when you drag a group of players into the mix to ‘support your cause’ who never asked for any such thing.

Pretend that they are then. It would be no different than the useless icon that was there before. Never mind the fact that only you could see it and only while you were tinkering with something else in the Hero Panel. I think that it was a failed mechanic that ultimately didn’t make it into the game so they removed the icon as it was only a reminder of what could have been.

Tman.6349

There is NOTHING a starting player needs to buy on the TP prior to reaching LVL 80. At that point, they are no longer “starting” characters. Anything they DO need to buy (salvage kits, gathering tools, armor, weapons, etc.) can be gotten from NPCs or crafted. While crafting materials have gone up in price on the TP, they still drop and are gathered the same way they did on launch day (and the NPC prices are still the same).

The change in the Trait system does present more of a challenge, but a decent build can be obtained without much effort or gold (and the rest can be obtained post-80). Also, the pre-80 areas have been toned down a bit to compensate for slower Trait / Build development.

Theory disproved.

It already was in the post above ;p

Rune of scholar or strength?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Tman.6349

Tman.6349

oh. well, if you’re just doing open world content it really doesn’t matter at all what you use. I wouldn’t recomment spending 90+ gold for Runes for just open-world stuff. Just get some cheap ‘zerker’ runeset such as ogre, eagle, etc. ANYTHING cheap with any combination of some power, precision, ferocity, or +% damage. You can throw darts at a piece of paper to create an open-world build and be ok. I guess if you’re just into big numbers or champ solos or something, read the posts above, but if you’re just running around with The Lootstick, I wouldn’t put too much thought or money into what is (a bit) more efficient.

Rune of scholar or strength?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Tman.6349

Tman.6349

I see, even I if use ’’empower’’ allot and ‘’Save yourselves’’?

DON’T use Empower ‘a lot’ plz.

“Save Yourselves!” has a long cooldown and only gives 1 might so it would be useless in the context of Runes of Strength tbh. You are much better off using it for its intended purpose: an AoE condi clear and/or AoE stun break.

One thing that Runes of Strength could actually be useful for, though, is for spamming Virtue of Justice with 1 trait point into Virtues and recharge VoJ on kill. This will allow you to spam might, blind, burning, and vuln, but you have to have good timing and awareness of enemy HPs.

Guardian has a ton of damage mitigation, so keeping your health up is fairly easy and natural, and will make Scholar a superior choice if you’re in an organized group that already has might stacking capabilities.

If you mostly find yourself in PuGs, then Strength will be the superior choice simply due to the ‘PuG Roulette’ aspect of not being able to depend on others to have useful/synergetic skills and abilities. You’re not going to be ‘godmode DPS support’ like Ele or Warrior, but it will ensure that you can keep your +% damage bonus consistantly as well as adding some offensive group support to synergize with the defensive support that Guardian already provides.

I hope this helps a bit b/c this is a pretty expensive ? you’re asking as far as which set you choose is concerned. Good Luck!

(PS. I recommend getting rid of your staff altogether. It’s mostly useless except as a ‘weed whacker’ in TA Up and Forward so leave it in your inventory for such occasions but it shouldn’t be on your offset otherwise. I would recommend some combination between Greatsword, Sword/Focus, and Hammer for your weapon sets. You might carry a Sceptre in your inventory to swap out for sword when/if you need ranged combat.)

Question about kit damage...

in Engineer

Posted by: Tman.6349

Tman.6349

I know kit base damage is now scaled based on the rarity of the weapon(s) you have equipped. With a rifle, this is very straight-forward. What I’m wondering about is, how is the damage scaled for P/P or P/S if each weapon is a different rarity? Does it use the Mainhand to scale the damage? Does it, somehow, ‘average the rarity’? I’ll try to do some testing with some cheap gear i guess, but if anyone has some details about how different rarities affect the scaling of damage and/or how P/P vs. P/S affect the damage as well. Thanx in advance for any light you can shed on the subject.

Note: I run full berserker so conditions are not of any importance.

Why are we seeing more engies?

in Engineer

Posted by: Tman.6349

Tman.6349

I don’t know if this was stated already in the above posts, but I think a very likely reason is that GW2 has been out for over a year and a half now and most people have leveled all the other professions already. Thus, many people have rolled Engis as there final character for a full set of 80s. Not a for sure answer but seems very plausible.

I have 10 geared 80s for over a year now and two of them are Engis. They are such a fun profession, but I can understand why many people would hold of on leveling an Engi till the very end. The ‘completionist’ in people is maybe driving them to finally level one. (It could just people feeling more confident in their skills and ability to understand combos and rapid skill rotations.)

Just some conclusions that can be taken with a grain of salt. (PS. It could be that with the new Megaserver, many players have ran across my EPIC looking Engi and wanted to roll one in hopes of looking like me.)

Gold Spamming getting WAY out of hand.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Tman.6349

Tman.6349

Gold selling hasn’t “gotten out of hand”. Yes it IS rediculous, but there aren’t really anymore of them than there has ever been. In fact, there are a LOT less of them now than at launch and shortly after. It only appears this way because of the Mega server update.

What used to be 1, or maybe 2, gold bots per server/map spread out across 20+ different servers/maps, has been condensed to 5-10 gold bots per Mega server shard. Yes, it is more frustrating than ever, but this is a direct correlation to not having ‘empty’ zones.

Right now, we just have to take the good (for what that’s worth) with the bad since the implementation of the Megaserver system. I’m certain that Anet was fully aware of this and determined the good outweighs the bad.

[Suggestion] Free transmutation for Legendary

Heh, ’cause all we need are MORE people/toons running around with legendary weapons. Because granting people an unlocked legendary skin across his/her account just is not enough, no we need more.

You DO know, that this would result in less people running with legendary (skins) around?

No, I do not share your logic.

The OP is talking about applying ANY OTHER skin to your Legendary for free. He’s not asking to freely apply Legendary skins to every weapon on all other chars for free. THAT is Kibazuka’s logic. Reading comprehension and critical thinking are neat huh?

There is no bug. These are defensive mechanics to thwart CHEESE like Bull’s Charge>Hundred Blades.

I would also like to point out that, although lots of mats on the market is good, level 5-10, still wet behind the ears, racking up 10 or 15 or 20g a day is VERY terrible for the economy and leads to immense inflation to endgame items. Plz don’t overlook this fact.

Leveling with EXP boosters?

Running dungeons is an excellent use of boosters as well. CM story would be a good place for you to spam a bit of experience due to the huge number of mobs, as well kitten champs and the end reward. The full reward will dwindle after the first run, but it can be completed in less than 20 mins. You’ll be hard pressed to find this many enemies and 5 champs at your level. Just an idea. EotM is solid too. I just prefer running dungeons than zerging content.

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Tman.6349

Tman.6349

My advice is, don’t put yourself in situations where this toxic attitude is prevelent. It sound like you we’re, most likely, doing a dungeon path with limited restrictions. Adhere to the ‘Lfg requests’ or start your own. If you are within these parameters: report, block, and kick the person. It takes quite a bit of effort to herass someone past these blocks and, at this point, the momentum is in your direction. Screenshots and an explanation will almost guarentee in, at least, a 72 hour ban. MAKE SURE that you’re adhering to LFG and the ones you post are concise and clear. Otherwise, you have no case.

I know it seems weird, BUT, reporting is a sort of synonomous with GW2 Small Claims Court, as strange as that may be.

Outside of this, find a solid Guild that you feel apart of and these kind of problems will, quickly, be reguarded as a thing of the past.

Rabid gear builds

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Tman.6349

Tman.6349

If you’re using it for WvW, almost any condition build is pretty solid with Rabid gear. If you have intentions of using it for PvE, then you have a conundrum. Rabid stats a garbage for Pve. I recieved a Grizzy Chest too not even two hours after they released the Ascended weapons and chests (bad luck AND good I guess O.o). I didn’t even give a second thought to transmuting the Grizzy Staff skin over my zerker staff, b/c it looks perfect with my Eles color scheme. Although that was long before the wardrobe system, I still can’t recommend trying to force a build around a perticular stat combination just b/c it is Ascended. Unless you want to build a condimancer, condimes, engi, etc for WvW, then you’re better off just using it as a skin and enjoying the elegant look. Even changing dyes to match the weapon for a nice look is much better than trying to force a build around it that isn’t effective or forcing yourself into a playstyle that you don’t like to use. Hope this helps.

It is a single use set. You get full set of non-level armor and a box of the armor skin that you choose. Seeing as Engineer wears medium armor and Mesmer wears light armor, they wouldn’t be able to wear the same skin anyway, although whatever you choose will be unlocked in the wardrobe for future use of eligeble professions. It clearly states what you get with the upgraded edition. No, it is not ‘moronic’ (that word is though).

CM has been really bad for a long time so now that it’s easier people need to get used to the dungeon again. I just wish more people didn’t skip that much, I wanna loot lots of linen. The packs melt anyway so why skip it.

I believe they drop cotton scraps, not linen.

Some of the skips are just dumb in my opinion. People end up wasting more time relying on stealth cooldowns when it’s faster to just clean the mobs which are easily killed since the April update.

It might be the bags that give you linen, not sure. But yeah, it’s super easy to kill them, but with the current dungeon design people are so used to skipping anything that’s a silver mob.

CM only drops Cotton and Wool. Linen only drops from lvls 46-63. The only way to get Linen from CM is running it with a character between levels 46-63 and salvaging light armor drops. In fact, this is an EXCELLENT way to farm Wool, Cotton, and Linen as you level up a character. Spamming CM story at this level range can result in 1g+ per clear just from cloths alone. Throw in the completion gold, gold from mobs, and loot (lots of drops and some mid-level rares have decent sell values), and you’re looking at 2-2.5+ gold. It takes roughly 20 mins with a decent pug, so it’s not incredible returns, but at this level range it can be worthwhile to do a full CM clear daily. Mix in some TA for bonus Linen and gold.

a social solution to price undercutting

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: Tman.6349

Tman.6349

The gold seller issue brought up in an above post is important.

Undercutting and rising ‘highest bid offer’s are how item prices equalize to a stable price.

As far as the OP seeing undercutting as a ‘problem’, do you realize that when some sells an item using ‘match lowest seller’, it’s the most recent listing that sells first? It doesn’t matter if he undercuts by 1c or matches the lowest sell price, it is his item that will sell first either way.

If there are 1,000 listings at 50c for an item, and I list mine for 50c as well, my item will sell first.

If there are 1,000 listings at 50c for an item, and I list mine for 49c, my item will sell first.

Undercutting is good for the economy because it seeks to stabilize the ‘true’ price of items. It’s not some evil, immoral practice that should be frowned upon.

Aegis Mechanics

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: Tman.6349

Tman.6349

Well it IS a bug but it’s not a bug. It’s a game mechanics issue. When skills are activated, the game, first, does a ‘check’ for modifiers to that skill calculation, ie. boons (aegis, fury, might, etc), conditions (blind, weakness, retaliation, etc), and other modifiers (‘on crit/hit’, traits, sigils, runes, etc). So, what is happening is that the game is taking into account your aegis BEFORE the actual block effect of the skill itself. I know this isn’t the kind of answer you would prefer, but it’s what we got to work with.

That is omitting the celestial gear nerf and divinity rune nerf, as well as the fact that some classes depended on crits more than others.
With full set of those it’s over 40% nerf to critical damage.

And with a ‘full set of those’ you have what…a 35% critical chance. Umm…yeah…good try. 33% of 40 is about 13, which is well within the numerous calculations that have been shown to average about 8-14% total damage loss, depending on profession. If you don’t have anything to say, you can still go ad hominem? Then again, your entire post does that.

But you know, whatever. If it floats your boat, I guess it’s what keeps you happy while gaming. Still won’t change the simple business fact that you don’t build your MMO around the top 2%, but at least it lets you sleep at night I suppose. :P

You can Google the definition of ‘ad hominem’ if you’d like so you can see that that is incorrect as well. It’s a passive-aggressive tactic used by people when they can’t argue, refute, or otherwise counter point(s) being made in a debate so they directly attack the character of the opposition in order to discredit the validity of said opposition by way of flaws in the opponent himself. Not once did I attack anyone personally, nor did I ramble off-topic to confuse the issue. All of my points are concise, valid, realistic, and stick to the mechanics of the issues I’m referring to.

I do find it very ironic that you are so subtly guilty of the very allegation you make against me. LoL…pretty funny huh?
