I don’t really know much about the Lich Form minion bug tbh. The problem you’re having with your melee minions has been going on for a while now though. At least, in PvP it has been and it’s been speculated to be a pathing/targeting issue having something tho do with the minions attack AI and the minions targeting the players current target. It has been a hit-or-miss mess since the Dec. 10th patch or so. (Note: This is also when the player rooting/‘stuck’/’can’t move’/’can’t wp’/’can’t use skills’/etc bug started and I believe it could somehow be connected as this is when the Mesmer Illusion AI bugs started as well. There are multiple threads about these subjects in the bug forum.)
As for the skill lag when activating the minion specials, this has to do with the AI skill queue and is not a bug. Sometimes if you press the skill several times it will cancer the skill entirely and it will go into cool down w/o ever triggering. Rangers have this exact same problem with their pet’s special F2 abilities. What is going on is the AI has a certain attack rate and it checks in between attacks for the next queued skill basically. You’re activating the skill as it is starting a queued attack (basic auto attack for minions) and so the game puts the special attack as the next in the queue then, a second or two later, the skill actually triggers. The ‘shudder’ in the response seems like skill lag and this has caused (I’m sure it still does) many Rangers to actually cancel their F2 skill thinking it’s skill lag when it’s actually just part of the AI design.
I know this isn’t all the answers you need/want, but I hope it helps a bit, at least.
Okay, first off, I’m not saying make them take 90% less from AoE, I’m saying Anet could try like 25% privately. If that seems too much they can drop it down to let’s say 15% then if that seems good, release it into the public. They can change the % the pet’s get reduced from AoE’s.
Also, fighting a minion master necro, a mesmer, or a turret eng, you can still kill the player before the pets anyways. Why would you let a mesmer keep making phants instead of just killing the mesmer? Right? I mean, sure take out a duelist to have less damage done to you, but that doesn’t really matter much in a 1v1 fight, because weapon skills are not all AoE’s. When I say AoE’s I don’t mean like cleaves, I mean the giant red circles that go on the ground. Surely you can still kill a phant with any of your skills, right? They would only have whatever damage reduction ANet puts on them for true AoE skills.
Lastly, I get it, you are an amazing ranger, but what about classes such as the necro, mesmer or turret eng who has NO control over their pets what so ever? In WvW do you think it’s fun to be a mesmer or a minion master necro and have your pets wiped out as fast as you summon them and then be stuck auto attacking til you can summon them again for them to be taken out again?
Also, I bring this up (again as others have in the past) due to seven out of eight classes having pets that get taken down way too fast to be useful when there are tons of AoE’s around.
Simply put, reduce the damage from TRUE AoE’s (not cleaves) to whatever Anet decides is a good balance.
Go to the Necromancer forum and ask if anyone has a good WvW zerging Minionmancer build for you….I dare ya.
Ok, so here’s this then. Since you all are expert… whatevers… why don’t you turn this conversation into something constructive like discussing solutions rather than tearing down the idea and just spouting reasons as to why it won’t work. If you’re good at your builds or classes, offer points into solutions instead. It’s easier to tear down an idea than come up with a new one, you know.
Other than my suggestion about Mesmer Phantoms getting a very short duration invuln when cast in order to, at least, start to launch their attacks, I would suggest playing smart and not trying to take Bone Minions or Lesser Elementals to go fight the Assault Knights. As for Ranger/Pet survival, this isn’t the place for posts on Ranger/Pet builds and tactics. I’d be more than happy to in game or PM.

I assumed the suggestion was in regards to large fights involving heavy AoE where these ‘pets’ are more likely to get nuked, as that is the only way it would make any sense what-so-ever, as 1v1 battles generally don’t have these implied ‘AoE spikes’. Also to suggest this for the sole purpose of 1v1s would be completely selfish, absurd, and completely unfair/unbalanced. So let’s just toss that whole notion you had out the window. Now we can realize that even outside of those implied ‘huge AoE spikes’, that this rule would still be in effect going back to making those 1v1 fights biased toward ‘pet’ builds. So it is completely self defeating. (Just a heads up, quickly disposing of a Minionmancer’s pets is a very real tactic for 1v1s against them in PvP, if you know what they’re actually capable of.)
I’d prefer a whole new class of Ranger with no pets.
I’m sure many rangers would, but as Mesmers and Rangers are forced to use the pets, wouldn’t you at least be happy if your pet actually survived a bit longer? They won’t get rid of pets for rangers, but if they changed this that would be a step towards making the pet better.
The Pet can’t simply “become better”. Only the player can play the Ranger/Pet better. Their survival isn’t entirely outside of you control. I do, however, think Phantasms should have ~1 sec of unvuln until they launch their skill. Something along these lines, at least, to curb the frustration of wasted cool downs due to their low health.

I’ve ran through all kinds of content with my Ranger and my pets rarely die. The profession isn’t just a Ranger…it is a Ranger/Pet and you must learn to play it that way. The ‘pet’ aspect of the Ranger/Pet accounts for roughly 30% of the Ranger/Pet’s damage output and this is reflected in the base stats of the Ranger himself. As such, this combo has many tools/synergies to maintain the well being of both halves. This IS the HUGE problem with the ‘Bearbow’ epidemic that many players teach themselves, which is a very bad habit that is hard to unlearn (ie. ‘tank and spank’ mentality). This is very much a build/pet selection/L2P issue tbh. Once you acknowledge this and learn to build/play as a ‘Ranger/Pet’ and not just ‘a guy with some awful, random AI attached to his hip’, then your effectiveness will grow exponentially. (I rock a pretty vicious Ranger/Pet if you’d like some tips/build.)
Summons, however, are not at all the same as the Pet. Summons are passive abilities/skills which only have positive effects for their ‘masters’ and are not a mechanic with a direct statistical drawback/link to the player. The player character is responsible for 100% of their damage and these summons are a fully passive AI extension of the character and this is the trade-off that comes with these skills/abilities and most of them can still be directly buffed via traits, etc.
The Mesmer’s Illusions are slightly different, as they are part of the profession mechanic. The do, however, adhere to a stricter set of AI rules and are built in to be more spam able than other summons. The Mesmer does retain 100% of his stats, though, and cash buff trait these Illusions as well. They are designed in a way to provide PASSIVE OFFENSE AND DEFENSE via enemy confusion and their own attack skills. They attack for and protect the Mesmer, which is why they have their designated HP/defense to maintain this role without becoming over powered. (PvE does hinder this a bit with how the enemies respond to the player for Mesmers though. The high damage associated with the current Living Story are a temporary thorn in the Mesmer’s side, and don’t justify a drastic change that wouldn’t be implemented until the LS is over anyway.)
This idea has a lot bigger balancing ramifications across the game than I think you’re aware of. The balance between PvE, PvP, and WvW would be big enough that I could honestly see this ‘innocent’ idea to shift the meta of the game quite a bit. Go PvP versus a Minionmancer or try roaming across a PU Mesmer or bumping into an Ambush/Thieves’ Guild Thief and then imagine them being 25%+ harder to deal with.
This is not a bug. If you take a few minutes to look into the matter you’ll find that kills are tracked by what weapon you use to deliver a killing blow. However, there are several instances where your ‘killing blow’ doesn’t actually come from your equipped weapon(s) and the game has a set (somewhat obscure) way of tracking these kills toward different weapon types. These instances can include thief’s stolen items, bundle weapons, turrets, reflects, and even environmental weapons/etc. I’m pretty sure some/most of these are noted on the GW2 Wiki, but I’m sure a Google search might give you some answers as well. Some of them are kind of strange. Gz on the bonus APs I guess!.
Example: A Guardian or Mesmer using Wall of Reflect or Feedback on a CM run will often manage to rack up a few ‘rifle kills’ throughout the run.

Good lord, THREE pages? I laughed my kitten off at the comments on the first page alone. I did, however, like the comment about a buff for the warband. Our charr PS sort of leaves our own PS warband in the dust- NOT what a charr would do. Bonus buff if all toons in the party are charr and in the same guild. Maybe a ferocity buff, when that arrives. But then, of course, we’d hear all the “not fair!” comments from other races. Krewe buff? I’d be good with that, too.
Charr= Warband
Humans= Legion
Asura= Krewe
Norn= Pack
Sylvari= ……Garden? (thinking something dream related but drawing a blank)
This is a bad idea as well… I can just Imagine the pain in the kitten grouping and the LFG tool would become with something like this. “LFG lvl 80 experienced Norn Zerker Warrior Couples only 10,000 AP+ speed clear”….uhhhgggg
Please! Anybody, give me a rough estimate of how many hundreds of gold you’ve profited off of you Watchwork Pick plz. Also, the time invested mining to make this ‘profit’ would be very helpful as well. I was considering buying one if it is ever REREleased and I just want to make sure that all this fuss about them is justifiable in my decision to purchase one, should I get another chance, or if it is all just hyperbole. So, what kind of profits should I expect from my Watchwork pick exactly? I think, 5-10g a month would be well worth the investment (as long as it doesn’t cut too much into my 20-30g+/day dungeon speed clear routine). This is, of course, after the very short time it takes for the pick to pay for itself on my investment. I also heard that the Basic Ore Node upgrade is P2W and, I was thinking that I could invest in both to REALLY rake in the dough. Advice/data is very welcomed. Thanx.

go with zerker trinkets and weapons with a cavalier backpiece and knight’s armor. The extra crit dmg you get from Valk armor is good but a more consistant crit chance is MUCH more important as crits have a PLUS 50% damage boost as a base so proccing this more often is much better than the 16% crit damage from armor. not to mention proccing things like Weak Spot or any sigils you use is gonna be more effective. the more consistant your build is the better. wild fluctuation is bad generally. sure you might get to see a ‘bigger’ number once in a while but you run the chance of doing less damage in the long run. you want your high damage coefficient skills to crit as often as possible, even if that means sacrificing a little bit of crit damage for crit chance. such is the trade-off for survive.

I was going to make one witty remark and never post here again but unfortunately I can’t think of anything. (Stealths and leaves).
that must’ve been the Ranger’s stealth that you used there…..
These are all of my 80s. They’ve all, except Shoots, been leveled for about a year or more and I’ve kept the same armors forever. They look much better with their weapons but I get the best pics on the login screen b/c of the screwy ingame camera.

Why does it have to be a lore-based playable race instead of one something else. The Sylvari hid in isolation through all of GW1. We COULD have playable Camels perhaps!
The Sylvari as a race are only about 25 years old, and Trahearne’s the very first born of the lot of them. GW1 happened 250 years ago.
That side, Tengu, Kodan, and (if only..) Centaurs.
I know when GW1 happened. The Sylvari as we know them, from The Grove, or the race in general? Makes ya wonder where ‘that seed’ must’ve come from if it didn’t fall from a previous tree….
Achievement reward for having 80 level 80s.
Just PM me with a list of the items and I’ll contact Anet for you!
Paying gets you hookers…not ‘friends’. Shouldn’t have much problems finding a guild on DB though. Just ask in map chat or WvW if you prefer that aspect. Good luck and welcome to GW.
I got a drop box with similar craptastic stats. Instead of trying to work it into a build at the expense of losing valuable stats, I didn’t give a second thought to transmuting the skin to an exotic staff that my elementalist uses. It looks so perfect with her armor and, considering the stat difference, I really didn’t lose anything. Don’t try to force it onto a char just because it’s ascended, but you might find a ‘SKIN’ that looks rather impressive on one of your toons.
I, for the life of me, can’t understand why there are 1,792 of this exact same thread….
Are you using another ‘on swap’ or ‘on crit’ sigil in combination with them? These two types of sigils share an internal cooldown. This mean if an ‘on crit’ sigil or ‘on swap’ sigil procs, it will put the other sigil on cooldown as well until the procced sigil comes off cooldown. These have always behaved this way, but are supposed to be seperated in a future patch. For the time being, I’d recommend combining it with an ‘on kill’ or an ‘always on’ sigil like bloodlust or force or whatever else happens to fit in with your build.
To make this thread useful:
This sounds fun! Does anyone have a good build or race for this? I’d love to get my weapon master achievements while getting a silly key every now and then.
this thread was not MEANT to be useful….the title of the thread, Black Lion Key “Farmers” is directed at a particular group of players and then goes on to say “…‘you guys’ have reached a new low”. this is a flagrant inflammatory thread and the title/op leaves no room for constructive feedback/debate and I dont even see how/why it’s still up. “I don’t mean for this to be a complaint” and then making deragotory comments about "Black Lion Key "Farmers"" “reach(ing) a new low” and being “poor”.
To add something constructive to this thread, I would like to point out that MANY people don’t gamble or don’t want to spend gems/gold on BLKs and, therefor, key farmers are, most likely, 50%+ responsible for the price of BL weapon skins not being 300%+ the cost of what they currently sell for on the TP. Key farmers spend their time taking a gamble and when/if that gamble pays off pretty good. This, in turn, allows people to get Weapon Skins and ‘perma’ items for a somewhat reasonable price. W/o key farmers I bet fresh weapon skin sets would start at no less than 150g+. So let’s thank them for their time instead of publicly harassing them.
Thank you Key Farmers for ~50g Tormented Weapons.

lol @ at the little tuft of ‘hair’. sucks that this happens though
WWAAAHHHHH!! I don’t have enough places to store my mountains of money!
@ Bread: this was my first thought exactly. ectos have alway been a safe investment since the dawn of GW1 and have been used for the exact kind of thing. even if you do happen to end up losing 1s or so from selling them at a later point, at least you didn’t ‘accidentally’ buy a legendary i guess
(edited by Tman.6349)
this is not a bug. i know this seems completely silly and anti-intuitive, but, if you’ll notice, the item is called Berserker’s Mace AND it already has a Superior Sigil of Earth in the upgrade slot. this points to the fact that it is a named weapon and ‘berserker’ doesn’t reflect the prefix of the stats on this item but rather the ‘titled’ name of the weapon. if it was supposed to have zerker stats it would be called "Berserker’s Mace of Earth’, so what you just bought was a poorly named ‘named weapon’. that is all. i agree this is confusing and silly but it is what it is. normal weapons with a zerker prifix will just be called ‘Berzerker X of X’ and won’t have the ‘s indicating it is "someone’s" which is often the case with named items ie. Aiden’s Coat
ps. a ‘berserker’ weapon selling for barely over 1g should have been a red flag
(edited by Tman.6349)
this is something that i have ran into many times as well and has been a problem since the launch of GW2. the following is just my opinion/conjecture but what I believe is the problem is when you’re selling to the lowest sell offer in a high volocity trade item (other times it could just be coincidence though) and when you click to sell, the item price changes so the TP registers an errer because ‘that item no longer exists’ as far as it’s concerned. this can happen several times in a row and then you sell a few different items and, all of a sudden, your item sells without the error. I believe that this is where the price has stabilized again allowing you to match the lowest sell order. I’m not claiming that this is DEFINITELY the case but in my experience this mainly happens when selling highly traded items and only the rare occasion with anything else which is why I consider it just coincidence. this is especially noticeable after you salvage a bunch of items and then try to sell the mats, as materials come and go very quickly and the price fluctuates up and down by a small amount. I don’t think this is an ‘anti-bot’ feature as much as it is just part of the tp mechanics itself.
“Engineer is the least played……boring to play” O.o “boring to play”!?! REALLY? Have you ever even touched an Engineer? They are one of the most fast paced, action packed, havok wrecking, versatile professions in the game, nearly rivaling the chaos induced, “wtf is this guy gonna do next?” style of the Elementalist. I have 10 80s and I main a Thief and I love face paced, aggressive play. My favorite professions are Thief, Mesmer, Engineer, and Elementalist for that very reason. They might all have steep learning curves, but they are all VERY rewarding to learn to play well. Warrior and Guardian are definitely the most ‘popular’ professions because both are very straight forward and simple to use and have inherent tools/aspects that allow for more mistakes than the other professions. This is one of the primary reasons you see so many of these two professions and they ‘seem to be good’, while the other professions require a lot of certain gaming ‘skills’ to be proficient with and to excel with. By this, I mean, situational awareness, capacity to quickly prioritize, rapid analyzing coupled with quick reflexes, developement of muscle memory (for their ‘finger breaking’ playstyle), good timing, and, most importantly, a good sense of humor/self esteem! (for being repeatedly told that your chosen profession sucks and Warrior/Guardian are better) Make no mistake about it, the build system allows for all of the professions to be built for nearly the same things, though certain ones do have a bit of a bias toward a certain game type/playstyle. There is no ‘best’ profession…there is only good or bad PLAYERS. Rest assured though, all of the professions are great in different areas of the game. Oh, and once again, HELLO no! Engineer is NOT boring! :p
Thief by far. Everyone keeps claiming that Warrior is the fastest but that just isn’t true. You can argue about permaswift and gap closers or whatever else you want, but Thief will destroy a Warrior in a footrace any day of the week.
Thief has Infiltratior’s Arrow, Steal, and plenty of other teleportation skills. Although I wouldn’t waste any utility slots for any teles, Infiltratior’s Arrow and Steal are easy to access and can move you around VERY quickly. Thief has Signet of Shadows for a permanant +25% movement speed buff. Thief has Ambush, Thieves Guild, and Caltrops which, when combined with the thieves burst damage, will drop ANY combat based skill challenge in a matter of seconds. Thief has Hide in Shadows, Blinding Powder, Shadow Refuge (which work great with ‘Master of Deception and ’Meld with Shadows’), and smoke fields to allow them to get ANY commune based skill challenge and then quickly be on thier way without aggroing a single mob. Thief has plenty of access to swiftness as well though it’s really not necessary due to the Thief’s next (never mentioned) trick. Thief also has….wait for it…access to ‘FLEET SHADOW’!!!!! Yes, indeed, the profession with incredible dps, stealth, teleportation, and plenty of other tricks, also has a trait that gives them access to PLUS 50% MOVEMENT SPEED while stealthed which can easily be maintained permanately via Dagger/Pistol and utilities. The bottom line is: Thief is, hands down, the fastest and most mobile profession in the game. ANYONE is more than welcome to challenge me to a footrace if they would like to disagree and prove me wrong.
Thief has access to a full bag of tricks and is the easiest/fastest profession for map completion. WvW might be the only place where you are held back due to PoIs being in enemy hands (ie. Stonemist Castle), but thief STILL has all the advantages listed above when it comes to WvW completion as well. How fast you complete the maps there is more of a matter of your home server’s success at capturing and maintaing territory. You still have permastealth for running past ‘camp PoIs’ without even a second glance, all the while, running across the borderlands at +50% movement speed.
I’m sure every warrior fanboy out there is cringing at the facts right now as they read a bit of LOGIC concerning why their profession isn’t the best at something (kinda like the DPS debate huh), but that doesn’t make the facts go away. THIEF IS THE BEST PROFESSION FOR MAP COMPLETION! So neener neener!

the ironic part is, the people at the very top of the leaderboards (or extremely high AP players) thinking that they’re ‘the best’, as was stated in the OP is so far from the truth. usually these people do very littly challenging content in order to keep up with their daily grind and most of the very high AP players, from my experiences, happen to be some of the absolute worst players I’ve ever grouped up with. makes me smile sometimes but not out of delight necessarily :p
If you want it to be lore appropriate then charr or asura.
The charr, especially the iron legion, are very mechanically orientated. The asura are more into magitech, but the engineer can fit into that, a lot of their abilities could just as easily be magical or semi-magical and some of them would almost certainly have to be (like dropping a crate of supplies out of thin air, or drinking a potion that turns you into a whirlwind).
I thought this too and made my first lvl 80 engi a charr. It was a huge mistake imo. Engineers are made to be played very mobile and I found the charr to have clunky movement and akward armor/animations. For over a year I just thought engi was trash even though I knew better from others, I just thought that it wasn’t a class for me. I main a thief and my favorite classes were thief, mesmer, and elementalist, so I thought that an engineer would fit right into my aggressive, fast paced playstyle, but the charr runed that for me. Despite the lore, I rocommend staying far from a charr engi. Anyway, after finishing my 9th 80, I decided that I’m pretty good with every other class, so why not give engi another shot. “Maybe I’ve just been playing it wrong…” So I decided to make a human engineer. Wow!!! Best decision ever, reguarding any of my characters. I just got him to level 80 over a week ago, making him my 10th 80, and I ABSOLUTELY love him. He’s now in my top favorite group and plays so fluidly and easily that I wish I would have given engi a second chance long ago. The bottom line is, Engineer is made to be a highly mobile class and witht his is mind, I would strongly recommend make a human, sylvari, or asura engineer. This is just my opinion from my own experiences though. good luck.
Mooty described the fluctuation in bleed stacks perfectly. The oldest bleed stacks are always replaced by new ones. Mixed in that full stack of 25 bleeds are MANY very short duration bleeds (ie. 2-4 secs) that will time out very quickly before a couple more hit to raise bleeds back up to the 25 stack limit. This number can fluctuate quite a bit once the maximum has been reached to to many skills that inflict multiple, short duration stacks of bleeds. For instance, some engis and necros lay down a bunch of long duration bleeds and hit the cap then along comes a warrior that launches Flurry. Instantly EIGHT of the USEFUL bleeds that the engis and necros have provided are pushed of the list (first in first out) for the warriors 8 stacks of two second bleeds! This is the most terrible part about this mechanic as 8 stacks of 2 sec bleeds with no condi damage just replaced 8 stacks of 8-16 sec bleeds that were probably applied by someone with 1500 or more condition damage. See the problem here. Nobody can mitigate your DIRECT damage (except those silly Ranger using PBS and those pesky GS mesmers using their aoe knockbacks on cooldown
I mean figure it out already guys! I digress…) BUT almost every class can ‘accidentily’ destroy your condition damage. It’s really a terrible mechanic in that reguard as condition damage fluctuates wildy b/c of said mechanic. I am fine with the condition cap b/c 235 stacks of bleed on a boss seems kinda silly and would take a ton of server communication but I would really like to seem them but a set of priority parameters into the condition system so we could get ‘more bang for our buck’ for lack of better words, and those GEARED for condition damage could not have their productivity completely nullified by a bunch of zerkers stacking 2-3 sec condditions that tick for virtually nothing.
Most people, myself included, have played high level fractals b/c of the challenge and the increased chance of ‘prestigeous’ weapons imo. Although they DID get compensated in a way by getting multiple relics per day and having extra rolls for rewards, I DO UNDERSTAND that rolling back the levels did hurt some players daily routines as that was TWO LESS dailies they could do for relics and that ‘Maw Box’. The main, or rather ONLY, problem I can see with handing out compensation for those lost dailes (let’s face it the FotM Lvls were just numbers otherwise and hold no inherent prestiege) is the fact that there’s no absolute way to determine who would have done those dailies every single time in the lapse of time between getting reset and getting leveled back up to 50. I con’t say, with this in mind, that I think those effected should get a bunch of extra relics or ‘goodie bags’ thrown at them as many people might have got to level 50 long ago and haven’t done Fracs since. With these two points in mind, I DO think it would be entirely FAIR and a show of good will for Pre-Fractured level 50s to get a Fractal Weapon box (or a claim ticket with associated vendor) where they could pick one (maybe even two; one for each week to get back to lvl 50) Fractal Weapons with SELECTABLE stats. This was one of the most sought after rewards associated with running high Fracs and many people had luckily got several of them with a bit of ‘anti-luck’ that they were always the wrong stats. I was someone that leveled FotM just because I like new challenges and am a bit of a completionist, but then I quit as I find other things more fun. I am, therefore, not emotionally invested in FotM as some and it’s no big deal for me to grind out the last few levels again and then move on to what ever else I like (mainly PvP, Dungeons, ‘Alting’, and helping new players) but this, at least, seems like a decent proposal. The ‘prestiege’ is all in peoples heads tbh BUT the loss of two tiers of rewards whele leveling up again is very real, so I can understand a bit of compensation on that front. I’ve seen people demanding they should get 5g per level lost though. That is insane tbh and very egocentric. Once again thanx for being civil as I am not your enemy at all.
@ Lilith I appreciate your redaction very much and understand the subject can be an emotional one for many, so thanx again for doing the right thing there. many people are fine with letting it ‘fly off the cuff’ and not thinking/looking back. I have read a lot of your posts on these forums and we’ve had our far share of opinions back and for whether we agreed or disagreed you’ve always been constructive and never resorted to attacks. (I haven’t had my coffee today yet either) For the record though, I’m not arguing against you or anyone else, for that matter, on this one. I just didn’t like the sleight of hand approach in comparing Fractured to the PvP overhaul is all. (whoever brought it up)
++ to Nevets for fighting the good fight. Very well said.
But hell, even the reset from 50 without any compensation is a slap to the face, considering PvP and WvW’ers get something when they’re reset.
PvPers aren’t being/haven’t been “reset” and what is it that you claim they “got/are getting”?
Source: https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/player-vs-player-rewards-roadmap/
They were saying there that PvP ranks will be retired, but players will get a title based on the rank they achieved, and keep their finishers (those finishers will be exclusive, they will not be attainable anymore).
Due to player response, they finally went back on this move, unlike what they did after the fractal players response…
Getting compensation for ‘losing something’ (although you can still level back to 50) is entirely different than just keeping something you currently have.
They were going to get (meaning: become compensated with something not already in place) a title to show their old rank.
Edit: I was rude so I edited that part out. I’ll try harder next time to be nicer.
There was never any concrete word about the ‘title’. They said it’s one thing they had considered but instead just decided to keep the ranks anyway.
I don’t know why your incapable of taking the entire context of a subject instead of cherry picking remarks that work best for supporting your opinion. Especially when it was made very clear they had ‘shared some ideas’.
So pls don’t accuse me of being ignorant/stupid on a public forum and assuming I ’can’t read’ when it is I that has stayed up to date with the context of the chgasnge and don’t need to quote silly snippets. This thread isn’t even about PvP anyway. However, somebody had to play the ‘oppressed/victimized’ card and bring it up anyway so I was just questioning the validity of their anology. Ie PvPers are getting nothing special dept a merchant to spend glory. If they were taking away Fractal Relics suddenly, I would expect a similar thing.
Getting compensation for ‘losing something’ (although you can still level back to 50 in FotM) is entirely different than just keeping something you currently have. PvPers aren’t really losing anything other than glory boosters. No big whoop IMO. We don’t need compensated for those though I’m sure the QQers on the booster subject will still get their way with some kind of vendor. Or maybe they’ll get a shirt that says “I had (x number) of boosters when Sent discontinued glory and all I got was this T-shirt!” The font will Probably too small to read though

As much as one ranger can speed up a CoF p1 run by bringing spotter and frost spirit boosting the dps of the 4 other members, their own personal dps being not really all that great I don’t think you even know the meaning of “wrecking the place” if you felt a 5 ranger run was one of your fastest. Your head would probably explode if you had a good thief in your party.
I main a thief and 2 of my 10 80s are thieves. I know plenty about them so don’t be condescending please. And yes 5 Rangers was an awesome run and saying that would take two hours is stupid and rediculous.
dont get mad at the people who want to get through content quickly and efficiently, its not their fault that anet messed up class balance.
if you want to spend 2 hours doing cof path 1 with 5 rangers, no one is stopping you, but dont make kitten posts crying because people dont want their time wasted with kittenty classes
reroll war, cry to anet, or play a different game
You have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about. I have 10 geared 80s and, of hundreds of p1 CoF runs, one of the fastest I’ve ever been a part of was a 5 Ranger group. Absolutely wrecked the place. It started at a ‘lfg Ranger only’ joke with some friends and ended up being pretty kitten amazing. Ranger is beast in skilled hands.

where do you get that PvP has no build diversity? Have you ever even played there? I just can’t imagine that you have after reading this statement. SPvP/TPvP is likely the most build diverse aspect of the game b/c there is ZERO cost/effort in creating a new build or trying something different out for a few matches. It is exactly this aspect that has led to more build discoveries of my own than any other part of the game could ever hope to accomplish. And NO battles where ever hosted in Guild Halls in GW1. GvG is what you’re meaning, I assume, and that’s not how it went down at all. They tried to make something similar in WvW but it just ended up being a clusterfudged area with campers waiting to thrash anybody that dared come in by themselves. What you are REALLY asking for is more game modes in PvP with a gear update as well from what I can tell or, maybe, just flat out GvG. The idea of ‘combining PvP with WvW doesn’t make any sense as they are two so completely different aspects of the game. You want to have roaming battles w/o the chance of running across a zerg basically?
message suppresssion is a pain in the kitten and there is no telling. try sending your dungeon group some consumables for a smoother run. “Oh whoops! Sorry 5th guy, I guess you get shafted….”
There are damaging mobs in the mists.
Your best bet to test would be to go to the HotM and equip a high crit chance build with two of the sigils in a set of weapons that have a very fast hit rate. D/d thief with death blossom, p/p thief with unload, or (probably the best) a p/p engine using a flamethrower. All 3 of these, as well as a few others, can crit 3-5 times per second. With two sigils that’s a 60% chance on crit which will surely happen once a second. So test it a few mins and see how often you’re able to leech. I can test it in a little while and let you know my findings if you don’t have the time or the right professions.
I haven’t read anywhere that the existing potions have been fixed but if that IS the case, I would be ecstatic…
I try today to use more and more potion ( exclude scarlet’s army potion) and I conferm there isn’t a condition damage boost.
i’m not worried about condition damage. if they got the rest of the potions fixed as they are supposed to be where you DON’T take an extra 10% damage then that is great. The damage was always supposed to be reduced and not an additional taken damage so that is the bug I was referring to. I wasn’t aware they fixed the rest of the poitions so that makes me happy and I will do some testing of my own i guess just to make sure. As for condition damage, it bypasses defense altogether so it has it’s own merits tbh. And most condition builds rely on a bit of survival to kill enemies so the fixed potions would actually still be very helpful as you would take 10% LESS damage from whatever mob. With the wild fluctuations and 1 second ticks/adjustments, I think it’d be rather hard to increase condi damage in the same way BUT at least the +10% to you physical damage is about the same as if they were to increase your condition damage stat by 10%. Tbh it probably more than makes up for it, though I understand you’re wanting the benefit of both. If the damage negated aspect is fixed now though, then there is no reason not to use these potions requardless of what build you’re using.
if you have a mesmer and an engi, then you still have room to create the other 3 professions that you’re interested in. every class is good in PvP and they can all be built for the same kinds of things. If you like mesmer and engi and are fluid with those though, I would recommend a thief and an elementalist. Those are the 4 most complex classes to excel with and if your fingers are used to the enormous amount of button mashing, finger breaking, hand gemnastics associated with those two classes, then elementalist and thief will be right up your ally. they are all very different classes but with their aggressive playstyle based on cycling through their abilities quickly, your finger’s muscle memory will feel right at home with these. Ranger is a bit this way as well as controlling your pet can be a pain (though very rewarding) and is a ton of finger snapping goodness in itself. After using mesmer and engi, the warrior, necro, and guardian will seem like the most mind numbing playstyle ever tbh. not to offend anyone but it’s the truth.
I just don’t understand how someone can go from fully customizing a char/race at the character creation screen, play through a huge amount of the content, and level all the way to 80 w/o KNOWING whether they like the look of their character or not. There are tons of different sites that allow you to preview every armor in the game and you have access to every races racial skills by level 30. I can’t fathom how you could not like your chosen race after spending so much time using them; especially with all the tools and resources at your disposal for checking builds, looks, and whatever else. You can enter HotM at level 2 and try nearly every build, use every weapon, and preview nearly every armor not even 5 mins into the game.
Cultural armor exploits, complete lack of continuity in your personal story, as well as a dedicated ‘home’ instance are the main problems with this idea though I can imagine the community could dream up a ton of other exploits with such a change.
I don’t think this will ever happen tbh. There are plenty of ways to level a char VERY quickly and Anet would love nothing more than for you to buy another character slot to remake your character you somehow neglected to look at/learn about for the entire game.
There is already a ‘fix’ to your self-proclaimed problem/exploit that is causing so much grief in your imaginary little world you’ve created for yourself to feel ‘victimized/cheated’.
That ‘fix’ is: DON’T DO AND DON’T BE GROUPED UP WITH A PARTY THAT USES THIS TACTIC!!
OK I’m glad we could get that ‘problem’ that plagues you resolved.
What’s next? Disable using well time reflects? Disable using LoS mechanics? Disable using thief’s stealth or aoe blinds? Disable stacking might? Disable aoe/cleaves?
Get over it. If you don’t want to use stacking then form a group yourself and don’t stack.
‘Problem’ fixed!
I have over 3500 hrs with 10 80s and still no Legendary. They are not attractive IMO and EVERY one of my chars is fully geared and all have non-legendary weapons I find much more attractive/fitting with their armors. Not to mention, I main a Thief and a confetti shooting pistol and a short bow that fires unicorns is the most ridiculous things I’ve ever seen and don’t give me the impression of a lethal killer that strikes maliciously from the shadows. Meteorlogicus for an ele is the only one I find remotely appealing and/or appropriate; superfluousness of the great swords aside.

In GW1 the ‘Message of the Day’ popped up in your chat window as soon as you logged in on a char. It was very efficient and, I’m assuming, would be easy to code for whatever guild you’re representing on that char. Even an option somewhere to turn the function on/off would be nice to go along with it for people that would rather not have the notification. It WAS a very great tool as everyone in the guild would be guarenteed to get the message and for such important ones as TS changes etc could be posted with the heading “Attention:” or something of the sort. This would also be very helpful for new players who’s time/brains are going in a hundred different directions just trying to get used to the game and take it all in. Then again, if we could have so many of the things GW1 did RIGHT, a LOT of things about GW2 would be improved tenfold. So here’s hoping that this doesn’t get swept aside as “Oh, GW2 is it’s own game whiners!” and we get so momentum towards bridging the tremendous gap of things we shouldn’t still be asking for.
They’re still handy if you find yourself needing to TAKE an additional 10% damage

They finally fixed that bug when they released the Scarlet’s army potion (well, short after releasing it.)
they fixed the new potions but I wasn’t aware that they fixed the old ones as well. as far as I know, all the existing ones are still bugged which is why there are 3+ threads asking why they could fix the new potions so quickly but we have been complaining about the existing ones for over a year and a half with no concrete answers or an eta on a fix for them. I haven’t read anywhere that the existing potions have been fixed but if that IS the case, I would be ecstatic…
Serious question: What kind of ‘compensation’ is it that you’re after? Never mind if it’s justified. I’ve mostly just read arguing and tantrums on this subject, so what would you like them to do?
