Comparing a complete gearset to a whack rune set that does exactly the opposite never crossed my mind tbh and is just as silly. This would be like asking: berserker or undead guys?
Cleric’s/Sapphire is a stat combination. Guardian is a profession. I really don’t get the OP or any of the subsequent responses that all make zero sense. Except for Guang who obviously realizes that this makes no sense as well.
In Guild Wars 2, Rangers ARE ‘unparalleled’ archers though. No other profession can u"s"e both shortbow and longbow, nor can they trait/modify their bows to the extent that a Ranger can. “Rangers are unparalleled archers” does not equal “Rangers can do 100 Blades from 1500 range”. It’s not just a Ranger. It is the Ranger/Pet, a duality that must be played as such to be most effective. That’s not going to change and it shouldn’t IMO. This “give us back our 30% damage” demand is completely ridiculous. Anet NEVER ‘took away’ any damage from the Ranger; the damage split has been like that since launch so idk why anyone (2 years later) would be acting surprised/upset like this just happened last week. Yes, the AI could be improved quite a bit, like pet skill usage or being able to attack while moving, but demanding the devs completely overhaul their game just seems crazy to me.
(edited by Tman.6349)
For real! ALL THREE ‘adventurer’ professions running around in the same medium armor and dual-wielding pistols would seem totally creative and inspired from a development point-of-view. O.o In terms of skills, what would dual pistols or rifles add that short bow or longbow can’t/don’t do already?
I don’t think anyone really knows, including the OP. That sure is a lot of words to not say anything.
60g would be 5 or 6 keys, so if that’s the case, I’d say he did EXTREMELY well for himself tbh.

Prices have been like this since April. It’s not really that new.
Hint: Dual sigils in two-handed weapons drove prices up.
It hasn’t been mentioned yet and you didn’t specify that you specifically want gold from your Karma (though many people naturally assume that’s the case), but, if you’re into achievement collecting, you can spend a hefty amount of Karma on alcohol. This will save you quite a bit of gold vs buying it. I’m not sure it is as economical with some of the gold-karma conversion methods, but it might be something to interest you. Note: this involves a ridiculous amount of clicking and I’d recommend doing it in ‘sessions’.
Warriors can perma-regen. Mesmers can create an army of clones. Rangers can always have an pet active. Nerf it all.
Since you’re placing pets on the same tier as stealth, can we trade?
Yes you can have my stealth if ALL you’re going to do is “perma-invisi”….you see, it turns out that thieves break their stealth when they attack. Crazy huh? It also turns out that my Ranger’s pet can crit for almost 7k. I think an ‘evasion/pet’ thief would be pretty nasty.
And no, I wasn’t putting anything on any ‘tier’. What does that even mean and who designates the ‘tiers’. The only REAL ‘TEARS’ I was referring to is QQers that cry about profession mechanics they don’t understand, and, instead of learning about said mechanics, they just demand a blanket nerf. It all seems kinda silly when logic is introduced into the mix huh?
While I do sympathise with the general idea behind the OP’s post, I feel I should point out that I’ve gotten Exotic drops, Charged Lodestones, and even a Precursor just from killing random mobs in the open world.
So have I. But then I fight that veteran in a hidden cave, and I know he’ll just drop a green item. I might as well fight trash mobs in the open world, and ignore what ever guardians and chests are hidden in the explorables. The loot from random mobs in the open world seems much better. I just wish that there was a reward to look forward to.
And, once again, as stated in other posts about the beauty and depth inspired in this game, if you’re chasing a carrot on a stick you will be sorely disappointed. EVERYTHING in this game is VERY easy to accomplish/acquire, BUT this game was made for THE GAME itself…much like it’s predecessor. Ya’ dig!?!
It’s not just about acquiring loot though. It’s about having a feeling of adventure and discovery. It’s about looking forward to discoveries. Whenever you opened a chest in Diablo for example, and it dropped a ring, the ring might be good. It might be something worth a fair dime, or it may be something you want to equip your character with. When a ring drops in GW2, it’s bad. You don’t need to look at it, you can sell it straight to the vendor. You don’t even need to open a treasure chest in the open world. There’s nothing in there but trash, guaranteed. Guaranteed zero rewards.
I don’t want every chest to hand out legendaries. What I do want, is to have a feeling that I might discover something awesome while exploring the world. But there’s nothing awesome there. Just empty caves, veterans that drop greens, and chests stuffed with trash. That’s all the rewards in a nutshell.
That is EXACTLY what I was saying… O.o
While I do sympathise with the general idea behind the OP’s post, I feel I should point out that I’ve gotten Exotic drops, Charged Lodestones, and even a Precursor just from killing random mobs in the open world. It’s not that there isn’t the potential for immense windfalls for exploring and discovery isn’t there; it’s just very rare, and through the vagaries of RNG, some players might get lucky over and over and some will just get the skritt-stick over and over.
That’s why I’ve always supported token reward systems like what we have in dungeons and in the original incarnation of SAB. At least that way you know that, even if you are afflicted by some weird gypsy curse, you WILL eventually get what you want if you persevere at it for long enough. It’s just a matter of time and dedication.
This is PRECISELY the logic within speedclear/zerg groups: destroy as much content as fast as mechanics will allow, get your GUARENTEED loot, and hope for the best however the other chips fall. It’s not rocket science once you acknowledge that loot tables are completely random. Invest in Berserker gear>kill a bunch of things really fast>get lots of gold….should this fail…repeat again tomorrow. LOL.
Ya’ dig!?!
How bout they just make EVERY single drop in the game an Ascended chest or a completed Legendary….that would be real fun wouldn’kitten We could go from ‘free to play’ to “I feel free to quit this game at any given moment”! While we’re at it, let’s appease the PHIWs and make Nomad’s gear deal the same DPS as a full Berserker setup! Now we’re REALLY having fun aren’t we?
They promis.ed quests or craft which offers guaranteed to get sooner or later. The concept of GW2 is: You can stop the game and come back later, your work is not lost and you can continue where you left. This is the guaranteed.
http://www.gw2shop.net/topic-1532-annonce-colin-johanson-reaborde-la-question-des-precurseurHe was speaking in terms of story. In terms of the economy, if you stop playing the game, you’re left FAR behind in terms of wealth. Just like in real life. If you quit your job for 6 months, and your friend keeps working, guess who would have more money.
Impossible for them to follow the price in the time.) is totally broken because the price of precursor is extremly broken days after days, months after months.
Let me address this directly. I’m in game, and I can put in a Buy Order for a Precursor (Venom) for 71 Gold, or I can buy it outright for 95 Gold. That is nowhere near your 1540 Gold price quote. So the prices are not “broken” as you claim. You just want the wrong Precursor.
With the introduction of the ‘Wardrobe’ system, how can you even compare/justify the price of one of the most sought after and highly demanded precursors that is usable on half of the game’s professions to one that is highly supplied, cheap, and virtually useless!?!?! This is an outrage and this game is broken!!!!
I really don’t care about it either way tbh. I was just asking. I have plenty of gold without using the “P2W pickaxe” (lmao). Just curious if this was true or not. Simple ‘yes vs. no’. IMO, if people are depending on/believing in extra sprockets to ‘get rich’, that is just sad and making a big fuss about it is completely silly.
Newsflash:This just in…casinos take in more money than they give out….
^ Nope. That’s not true. Trust me, I do enough harvesting to be able to debunk the theory that the Watchwork Pick does not get extra strikes or bonus items, or have lesser chances of either.
OK then. It’s not an idea I endorsed in blood or dedicated my unborn to…just something I remember reading. +1 for enthusiasm though I guess…
Wasn’t there some evidence that part of the ‘bonus sprockets’ from this pick meant that you couldn’t get ‘bonus harvest attempts’ when mining? I’m pretty sure I remember someone stating something along those lines: that since equipping the Watchwork Pick, they had completely stopped getting ‘bonus harvest’ chances. I would like some kind of conformation on this as I don’t have one of the picks but, if this is the case, it still seems fairly balanced. Not perfectly balanced as sprockets have quadrupled in price since the pick was introduced but, trading your chances for ‘extra harvests’ for a chance at some extra sprockets seems fair IMO. Most people generally only see how ’they’ve been wronged’ or that ‘something is OP’ without actually realizing the tradeoffs involved. So, before everyone calls their mom to cry about how Anet is mean, could someone please confirm this for me?
I’m confused. Do you want “Warrior’s max damage possible” or do you want to know which one of your setups is worse?
Uhh, not necessarily. I have over 5k and have never stepped foot inside an explorable dungeon. I don’t have full exotics, crafting professions maxed, low WvW ranks and abilities, low-ranked SPvP, etc. Achievement points are easy to get without even trying.
Again you assume 5k – but nobody said anything about what numbers are used.
Yes I’m very well aware 5k is easy to get. That’s why – like I stated above the limit I use personally is 10-12k.And experience has taught me that you don’t get to 12k AP without being at least decent at dungeons.
Dungeons are directly responsible for maybe a few hundred AP. Just doing minimal dailies and monthlies since launch is responsible for about 5000 APs. Your metrics and logic are both very flawed. I know plenty of people closing in on 20k APs who’ve never set foot in a dungeon. I know others with less than 2500 that can run every path in their sleep. I’m just over 8500 so I wouldn’t get to be a part of your ‘leet squad’ (lmao…yeah right tool) but I almost exclusively run dungeons apart from my four PvP ‘Champion’ titles. 10-12k lol…I read that as “I’m an ignorant clown”.
I agree with weapons. The damage boost is far superior to the defensive/statistiical boosts from armor. Ascended crafting is also time-gated so you will be able to enjoy slaying foes with your new weapons long before you’ll get your 6 pieces of armor finished.
Legendaries are a personal, cosmetic achievement that is best-in-slot but not achievable by some. They are tradeable for ‘casuals’ to still have access so long
as they can come up with the gold. (I’m sure there are other reasons.)
Ascended gear is best-in-slot allowing more casual players to have access to the highest statistical gear possible with far less effort than Legendaries. It is necessary in order to play high level fractals It is very easily obtainable by anyone who wishes to spend an hour or two crafting. They are not tradable because they are a HUGE material/gold sink which the game needs. The need to craft YOUR OWN axcended gear keeps you vested into the game.
How can you buy a legendary on the TP but not ascendant gear????
I do not understand your logic!!!!
Why can’t we just drop Legendary Chests like we drop Asc. Chests????
I do no understand their logic either!!!!! O.o
/passtissue
It doesn’t matter at all which you pick. Race doesn’t matter at all really. The racial skills might have a bit better synergy with a Ranger that Thief is less likely to get any use out of. For the most part, it doesn’t matter though.
~snip~ Great logic people. On top of that people had exclusive skins for like 2 years. I bet all of the people that answred no in this thread is people who already have all the skins. I also have 80% of the skins unlocked and i think its a terribly selfish attitude to keep. Isnt having fun in a great game for so many years enough for you people, you need extra rewards in a new game that nobody else can get ever. ~snip~
EXCEPT YOU CAN GET THEM!!!! It’s already been pointed out how to do so but, I’m positive that you’re already aware of how to do it. Instead of being a dramaqueen and making unevidenced accusations about the integrity of other people, why don’t you use some of that LOGIC you claim we are lacking and EARN them the same way we all did.
I’m so tired of reading all these ‘entitled brat’ posts. My young son is at school but I can just come on here and have the exact same kind of arguements. It’s childish and sad really. Calling other people “selfish”…LMAO.

Let’s clear something up about OP.
Everything stated was self serf-serving, inaccurate, and mostly the opposite of reality.
Gratz to you leaderboard grinders though.
See! I didn’t even need a wall.
Pistol weapon ideas:
Small Shotgun
MP5K
FN P90
UZI
Flintlock triple double barrel pistolBasically take pistol and think Sub machine gun, or just outside the box in general.
What you’re thinking of are, indeed, called machine-pistols. I made this suggestion way back at launch. Thieves’ Unload skill makes absolutely no sense with a flintlock pistol. O.o I would kill a baby Quaggan to get hold of a couple Mac 11s though!!!!
Warriors can perma-regen. Mesmers can create an army of clones. Rangers can always have an pet active. Nerf it all.

As someone who is an adult, I t’s hard for me to understand why ANYONE would so adamantly attack something that they’re not forced to be a part of or that isn’t any of their business.
To everyone else, your own, i guess….
Last time you checked some random anecdote that you pulled out your rear with no numbers, surveys, or ANY actual evidence to support you wild, unfounded claims that how we play is somehow detrimental to the game. As you so adamantly oppose the way we like to play, labeling it as some kind of plague while you shamelessly plug your own idea of how everyone should play the game your way, which would completely alienate the people who prefer to play the exact way that you’re so adamantly against.
Do you even think about what it is you think about? I think something, therefore, the intensity of my emotional atatchment to my own ideals make them inherent facts.
This is the hallmark of a mentally unstable thought process.
I’m excluding from playing womens basketball in a local tournament b/c I don’t meet the requirements of what they make abundantly clear. (LFG POSTS)
Instead of irrationally demanding they change their expectations, I am free to start or join a male basketball league that’ll will be appropriate for me and the others I intend to play with.
Oh, grow up.
Look, I get that this forum’s regulars are pro-stacking and tend to flip their kitten when it is brought up. But this goes beyond reasonable, straight past ridiculous, and over to the extreme side of sad. Please stop.
Hey now, I just want to save the PHIW, I’m an advocate, a conservationist really.
I want to wrap the world in bubble wrap so they don’t hurt themselves on all the hard edges and difficult bosses. I want to shelter them from the groups that expect them to contribute anything to their own success. I would give them soft and fluffy Nomad armor so they don’t die when they fail to dodge and blame it on stacking. I would even go so far as to teach them to read so they can actually join groups with descriptions that match their play styles. I would make it so their feelings never got hurt by all the nasty elitists, and they would never have to come here and post the same thread over and over again, and get answers they don’t want to hear. I just want to hug them all.
I’m a Saint, really.
Leave Brittany alone.
My hero.
I know this seems like a "let’s just be friends idea, but you deal realize that giving them hugs would involve a ‘taboo’ bit of stacking they are strongly against. “Play How I Wants” are adamantly against hugging for obvious reasons!
Hug Boon: Be friends with others for the good of the community! Affected

Your thread was a regurgitation of many others and happens to have 3 twins on the main page. Excuse us for not taking your imaginary problem more serious when it AND SOLUTIONS have been stated countless times before. IE. You don’t like how others play: find a group who agrees with how you’d like to play. The answers will always be the same when the NON-ISSUE is ALWAYS the SAME. See how that works?

AP numbers and time spent playing doesn’t = any sort of proficiency/skill/understanding of basic concepts. Bringing these points up to make that case only drives the point home a bit further. I’ve been in plenty of dungeon runs with 21k AP Cleric AH Guardians who use only scepter and staff. /supersadface*
“Enough is enough!” “They are all selfish” and “I refuse to adapt my tactics to a more efficient and team-oriented, supportive play style”!
LMAO at the ‘common nonsense’.
#PHIWhipocracy
Spotter+banner of disc+fury is roughly +36% crit chance.
A ‘pet/DPs’ build without Pet’s Prowess is off to a bad start tbh. You should be using sw/wh as your primary offensive weapon (stacks might on pet) and greatsword for defense or for encounters were dodging has to be immediate. Taking pts into nature and not taking Frost Spirit seems strange
(edited by Tman.6349)
Ranger greatsword is mostly a defensive weapon. It only has one high damage skill. However, the AA evades, the long ranged leap, the block/knockback, and the daze/stun make it one of the best ‘go to’ weapons in the game for survival. A must have in just about any build imo.
There’s honestly nothing wrong with it. It’s actually helpful in some situations, Lupicus for example. Use off hand skills to interrupt the AA chain.
Can you give an example of where the sword mechanic is helpful, be able to use an off hand weapon isn’t a good example of how good the sword is.
When enemies don’t stack up on each other. You can go through your auto chain (stacking might) and never miss a beat because of the leap effect. In pvp groupfights this can also be good for missing some aoe etc but isn’t as reliable. The sword is meant for a higher skill level than the longbow etc and that is why it rewards skilled players with the highest possible damage. It has two built in evades on short cds that I absolutely love and, with Fortified Bond, it can add good damage to your pet.
Those are just a few reasons I use sword off the top of my head.
*ninja’d: nice breakdown too Seth
(edited by Tman.6349)
What is the build you are using currently, the trait spread and utilities? You could replace some gear for something with a bit more defensive stats like Knight etc but, Ranger has some of the highest access to survival built into their melee weapon sets. Sword has 2 evades, greatsword has evade, block, and stun, offhand axe can reflect projectiles (i prefer warhorn personally). Ranger is highly survivable really.
Hit me up ingame if you’d like.
I play a tanky support ele for WvW, and I can say without a doubt that this would make support eles unbelievably OP in WvW. You’d get a crapload of regen stacks constantly, and pretty much turn every class into what warriors are now with all that passive healing, while warriors would be…well, let’s not go there.
With dogged march/melandru runes/food i have -98% duration for chilled/cripple/immo, so those conditions stay on me for less than half a second and i get 4 seconds of regeneration everytime one of those conditions hits me.
No matter which limit stacked regeneration would have, i could get it instantly in a zerg fight or being chased down by a couple of guys.If im low on health, i would just jump into the middle of the enemy zerg, get a nice 32k heal from defiant stance and get full stacks of regeneration along the way. GG
Adrenal Regen/Healing Signet Warrior with Dolyak Runes and 25 stacks of Regen soloing Stone mist Castle for the win! Whoot! All the diversities….
Op I don’t think you have a clue how powerful regen already is w/o it stacking in intensity. Warrior, Ranger, and Ele can ALL already maintain a meager 3-5 sources of Regen and it’s stupid to fight against. Warriors got their signet nerfed already b/c of how broken Regen builds were.

Pretty much. Don’t forget those regen/bunker Rangers and Engis as well. This idea is ridiculous and would break PvP and WvW.
Sure you can say ’I’m sure a team would like to have one regen/healer/support’ but, what happens when a 30 man zerg is in full regen builds because it’s so broken OP and damage, literally, doesn’t matter at all anymore?
There’s no need for celestial in pve for any profession really. Toughness and vitality are only needed for people who have trouble staying alive in zerker gear anyway. Warrior doesn’t require any build short of 3 trait pts to make use of healing power as they have access to some of the highest amounts of passive healing in the game. Support does not equal ‘healer’. Conditions suck in pve for every profession. Of all the professions, Warrior has the best access to other sorces of power, precision, and ferocity in order to mitigate the lower offensive stats from Celestial gear. If you’re hellbent on using Celestial gear, then Warrior is one of the four acceptable professions to use it on.
(edited by Tman.6349)
You’re just dead wrong. Cleave has always been three targets per hit. Your over dramatic post seems unnecessary. Aoe, bouncing attacks, and piercing attacks are all that have ever targeted more than 3.
They already have these. They just don’t release them as often. Kasmeer’s Staff, Marjory’s Axe and Dagger were all gem store weapon skins that were very popular. I’m sure this will become more common in the future. As for entire weapon sets, I seriously doubt that will happen. First they prefer the gem store to be ‘clean and simple’ which is why many items are limited time. Second, Claim Tickets are the number one reason to acquire BL Keys. People aren’t getting them for a random chance of trans charges or some unid dyes or boosters. I don’t think they’d do anything to undermine that. As they introduce more LS friends and foes and we become attached to them, I imagine, we’ll see some new weapon skins for gems but not on a regular basis like we have now with BL skins.
elementalists, rangers and engineers are all excellent users of celestial gear
This. Warriors also do well in celestial. Thieves, Necros, Mesmers, and Guardians aren’t as flexible with their skills/builds and are, therefore, fundamentally better off being min/maxed due to their overall design.
Do you realize how silly PvP and WvW would be if nobody could ever die because of ridiculous stacks of regen? Even now, regen stacking bunker eles, rangers, and warriors are pretty stupid. BTW, support does not equal ‘healer’ in GW2.
They where on sale again recently (mid-end june), not sure if that’s what you meant by “a while back” … I would not expect them returning too soon.
I think all the REREleases were part of appeasing the new/Chinese crowd and I wouldn’t count on most of these coming back. They have to balance the “I want” with the “I have”s. Seeing as many skins from the first 6mo-1yr have yet to make a comeback, I wouldn’t hold out for these. IF they were to return on the ‘recent schedule’ they’d be over a year old.
“Whoot! I saved 30g on my level 80 gear!!!”
“Hey a new patch!!”
“Awwww!!”
That is the entire point. Dublicate one of your Legendaries f you want the title and APs.
I’m sorry. I had to start laughing when you said warrior’s have the best DPS. Do Elementalists, Thieves and Guardians not exist now?
Eles make Warriors look like pillow fighters with their Staff and Conjures.
But, but, but…..#2=WIN…lol
