The weapon/armor level rewards are useless and cannot be salvaged, only stuck in forge.

As I’ve said in another post, unless the stats are what I need then I have zero use for them :-)

Kinda how I felt recently when I leveled another Ranger recently (my 11th 80) to give the new NPE ‘a fair shake’.

“You get exotics as you level now!”

“Awesome!”, I thought. In practices I was sorely disappointed though. Literally, EVERY SINGLE ONE of these ‘Exotic quality rewards’ were condition based stats. Rampager’s, Dire, and even Magi’s stats were in the mix in the different Exotics (7 total I think). What was not included? There was not a single damage option among them. No Berserker’s. No Assassin’s. Not even a Soldier’s option. Every single piece was condi based.

I hope all the other ‘great leveling rewards’ aren’t so one-dimensional for the other professions.

Overall, at was a MUCH slower pace than what I would prefer for anyone with the ‘Veteran’ title, but it wasn’t as bad as many have made it out to be. I really do think the rewards need to be redone with a little bit of thought about statistical variety in mind. No, Rampager’s, Dire, and Magi’s is not variety.

Shield are often the best looking weapons. Too bad only 3 classes can use shields.

Do these weapons have an animation, like that wind back piece, or are they more solid-ish like dream thistle weapons?

The animation isn’t as big but go very nice together as a pair. Tempest DD Ele with Wind catcher is looking pretty sweet I have to admit.

Sigil of Forces Don't Increase Damage

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Tman.6349

It’s not a bug. Try using a more consistent build if you’re getting wild disparity in numbers that don’t seem to add up. Also weapons like MH Axe have a wider damage range. They chose not to show a lot of damage modifiers because there are so many and a lot of them have prerequisite conditions to add damage. Therefore, the tooltip could never be accurate. It was easier to leave them out of the UI.

Note: Sigils of the same kind do no stack on the same weapon(set). Ie. Sup, maj, and min Force.

No contest: my Dragon Emblem T-Shirt won as a prize during Pink Day in LA. (An in-game item that is a T-Shirt with the GW2 Dragon Logo on it). It garnered more attention than a Legendary Weapon, and was far more rare. Now it is a horribly matched full set of clothing in TONIC form that embarrasses me to wear (it has been paired with bright red boots now). If they would at least turn those Tonics into Outfits, then I could salvage something of it with a little dye.

A lot of people tend to save certain items/tokens because it has some sort of emotional value, even if they don’t use it.

I was wondering what are your favorite items in game that you are saving and you will never delete? Is it a special weapon that you got from a friend? Item from an old event, such as scanner from first Halloween? Maybe a trinket with funny description?

For me personally, it’s a mail that I got about a month after launch. I was leveling my warrior and I kept getting mails from spammers. After I got frustrated with all the spam, I replied to one of them with ‘STOP SPAMMING ME PLEASE’ ( it was super important to use all caps to let him know how annoyed I was :P ) and few seconds later I got a response (see screenshot). It made me laugh for some reason and I’ve been saving that mail this whole time. To this day, it still makes me giggle and I will never delete that mail.

How about you guys?

This was, most likely, from the Hint Achieving for Inbox Mail. People thought they were people helpful by randomly spamming mails for a while or didn’t understand how it worked.

This is just how the camera works. The left click camera just turns around your own camera. If you use the right click camera, the char also turns around and shoots into that direction you’re looking at. This is perfectly fine for shooting at points in the air or for using max range skills in close combat (like Mesmer Feedback).

Except now, when the camera is LEVEL, you shoot directly into the ground in front of you.

Yes. Many have noticed this. The ONE culprit I’ve imagined it could be is that, when they made the Birthday Blaster, they designed it to shoot at the ground directly in front of you. What good is a buff if it’s up in a tree or on top of a house or mountain right? The problem is, now all projectiles seem to behave this way when fired without target. I don’t know if this problem is happening in wvw/pvp or not, but I’m 100% positive that this started happening almost exactly around the time the Birthday Blaster was released. What they might need check is whatever projectile code they added to make the Blaster shoot at your feet, and code them as ‘aoe projectiles’ similar to Engi Nade Kit. this is mere speculation/logic on my behalf as I’m not a programmer. I am just an 80’s baby with some video game history/knowledge for whatever that’s worth. seems plausable though.

The flag for killing something is if it gives XP, not loot. It is very inconsistent though. A Necro can proc Chilling Grasp (or w/e the Master Power >50% HP trait is) but, in that very same line, it won’t remove 3 conditions on a kill. LS, PS, and Boss Blitz are the three biggest offenders of ‘on Kill’ procs but many dungeon areas have this same kind of thing on respawning mobs. I do think that it should be reliable for trait/sigil reasons but most of these mobs have very little HP anyway.

An auto-clicker would, at least, click twice per one click to buy things. Otherwise, it would useless. They made it clear, long ago, that is an unacceptable macro.

What we did get the definite “OK” to do is to use a third-party to bind ‘left click’ to ‘scroll up’ or ‘scroll down’ on the mouse wheel. This way you’re only executing “one click” but you can do it very rapidly.

Unless you had a macro for a huge amount of clicks, I’d think it’d be hard to track tbh. But if you want to be safe, the above method was given a thumbs up in a discussion about 6-8 months ago.

Combos are barely touched upon during the NPE as a hint type description (in high lvl 40s somewhere,I believe).

In two years of play, whether trying to or not, I don’t think it’s possible to not make a combo.

They are in NO WAY just obscure, ambiguous part of the game. The highest tiers of play utilize combos as if it was part of their build/group comp. Even low-medium level play will still make use of combos even if they don’t realize that they are.

Competent, purposeful use of combos is what makes dungeon speed clearing groups, excellent wvw havok groups, and top tier PvP groups what they are.

This is as fundamental as dodging IMHO.

*Hint: If an Ele tells you to “plz stop spamming your symbols/wells/random feedback/null field”, it is b/c they’re trying to dramatically increase the party’s DPs. It’s not because of silly partical effects.

Dagger storm is one of only a handful of skills that can hit more that five targets. It is supposed to up to 8 targets within it’s range prioritizing the closest targets. Seven skill points, a booster and a salvage kit? Sounds like a decent reward to me.

previously we used to get 1 skill point per level. now its 7 skill point given at end of every 7th level !!! lame

Actually it’s not lame. It’s better. Because by the time you get to higher levels, 1 skill point does absolutely nothing. You probably all the one point skills you need long before that. When this game was designed skill point scrolls didn’t exist either.

There’s nothing lame about the decision.

So your position is that absolutely no one ever has any use for a number of skillpoints smaller than 7, and that’s why it’s better to just give out 7 at a time?

Not my position at all. My position as quoted in another thread is that getting the same reward every single level predictably is more boring than getting different stuff at every level. When you got a skill point every level, it wasn’t special. It was something you got every level 75 times in a row. It’s very hard to look at a single skill point at level 63 and go YES! a skill point.

Even though it’s exactly the same, because you don’t get it every level it’s far more exciting to see seven skill points. This is basic, human psychology.

To people playing the game, it makes less difference than people starting new probably but it still makes a different for me. I see the new rewards and I get a bit of a boost from them. I never got that from the old rewards.

If that’s not your position, perhaps you shouldn’t be stating things that pretty much imply that it is your position.

My position is complex. Having to retype the same stuff in every thread gets tiring. I didn’t really feel it needed to be repeated here, I just gave the amount of information I felt was needed. I’m sure wouldn’t enjoy anyone telling you how to post, so I’d appreciate it if you not tell me how to post.

If clarification is required, people can always ask for it.

On VERY special occasions, you could even choose to not argue or interject yourself into every “I Don’t Like [X]” thread that pops up, especially when they’re of identical nature. haha but we all know that would never happen ;p

Suggestion-Create a constant speed buff

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Tman.6349

No, just no. At least not as long as PvE and WvW shares the same system. The maps are small enough for the zergs which have 100% of uptime swiftness, don’t need to add more to their already good mobility.

Besides, if you are only mapping what is the problem in using a signet, utility or a trait? The only professions that really suffers with mobility are guardian and mesmer. Still guardian can use Save Yourselves, but mesmers only have Signet of Inspiration which can or not give swiftness.

I’m currently playing a level 21 warrior. They don’t have speed signet. The only thing I can use is the warhorn for a speed buff. I can’t use traits because they are currently locked. And besides the only trait I see that gains swiftness lets you do it in combat on critical hits. That wouldn’t help you on mapping because it would be worn off after you left combat plus you slow down for combat.

If I use travel runes I have to be level 60 before I can use them and I have to throw 6 of them on my armor. They are 7 gold a piece because only the expensive superior ones give the 25% swiftness. I’m not speeding 42 gold for +25% swiftness on level 60 armor. I’d rather spend money for runes I actually need to help with combat stats at level 80.

And if they implemented the buff i’m talking about the mesmer wouldn’t suffer anymore. No one would.

Yes I can use warhorn but I would rather run around with a bow or rifle while mapping so I can do range attacks. And I’m not really just running around discovering stuff I’m actually doing a lot of hearts and events and combat. So at my level warhorn is the only speed option that I can think of. So I’m stuck using a weapon I don’t really like if I want to run faster.

You already run 40% faster, once you are out of combat, that goes for any class.
What you want is perma swiftness for all classes while OOC.

BTW, the trait you are looking for:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Warrior%27s_Sprint

Wont work for bow/rifle.

Yes that is the trait I was looking for thanks for the info. It’s a 25% perma buff.

Yes I want perma swiftness for all classes while out of combat (OOC). Plus 33% extra swift buff beyond the 40% increase in regular out of combat run speed. Just like the warhorn gives. But still you slow back down and it toggles off when you enter combat mode. I just think it would be a nice convenient buff for getting around the map. I think you should have to reapply it after combat. It would keep me from smacking the warhorn buff button 10 times to get to where I want to go. I just can’t see why I can’t smack a button one time and it stay on instead of having to wield a warhorn (a weapon I don’t like) and hit a button over and over again. I really don’t think it would be that bad of an idea.

It is cool that you understand me.

What kind of games did you play before GW2, out of curiosity?

Ancient Conditions Conundrum [Suggestion]

Tman.6349

Exactly Indigo! That is why this proposed ides could never be balanced.

First off, the idea of players applying/maintain their own burn would be so ridiculously OP the tears would cause local floods. Never mind the idea of ALL conditions being personal. A good condi can dish out 1k burn ticks.

Vulnerability affecting conditions would cause wild fluctuations in condi damage and be that many more calculations that need to be handled.

As for bleeds being setup like burning and poison, it would be impossible to balance this proposed system. How would the damage be “scaled”/calculated if it was like burning and poison? Just 1 stack would be modified to do the same damage as 25 stacks does now? Or would it be equal to 12.5 stacks? What about the rate these conditions can be applied vs cleansed? Bleeds are very abundant and you have to build them up to do maximum damage right now. This is balanced with condi clears right now.

How crazy would it be for a condi user to use FIVE SKILLS and be doing their MAXIMUM DAMAGE? The are tons of skills with conditions on the b/c how they’re implemented right now. This proposed idea would make condition clearing futile. Now this is just in a 1v1 scenario. What happens in a 1vX or even zerg clashes when all the condi users maintain their own stacks AND are doing maximum personal damage with just a few skills (4-5 secs tops)? You have people everywhere blowing up to 20-50k condi bursts is what would happen.

So again, how could this possibly be balanced? Remove most of the condition application from most skills? Then you don’t have ‘condi weapons’ anymore making skill sets seem bland and limited. Do you add condition removal to 75% of the skills in the game? Do you heavily reduce the scaling of the Condition Damage stat so condition users aren’t bursting as heavy as full Berserker builds? Well then you have the problem of conditions going from inefficient in large groups to them being absolutely pathetic for any solo/small group play. That would make power specs a necessity for anything other than large fights.

The point is, as Indigo seems to agree, the only way to balance this would be a complete and radical overhaul of the entire combat system and almost every skill, trait, rune, and sigil in the game.

They’ve changed a lot in condis’ favor since launch. Necro just screams, “Use condition gear!” right? Everyone wants to be different. Forget those mean ole ‘zerkers’…those conformists! This, seemingly innocent, idea might appear to be a solution in a short brainstorm, but, when looked at logically, rationally, and objectively, it would only break the game in every way. The Devs did a pretty good job imho.

If everyone and every weapon have a speedboost, let’s simply remove speedboost and let everyone run at default speed…

Everyone does not have speed buffs/boost that is the point of this post. If you are meaning that if everyone DID have them they are then pointless. You are overlooking the fact that you still have to actually slot them, thus you miss out on something else. That alone adds a small part of the strategy to the combat of this game especially when it comes to PvP/WvW

He’s not referring to ‘universal access to speed buffs’ though, as he made clear. He’s talking about an inherent, built-in speed buff to every profession completely separate from skills, traits, boons, and runes. Basically, he wants the default run speed to be drastically increased. As Virgil said, ‘if everyone had it, it would be pointless’. All it would accomplish is watching scenery go by faster.

Out-of-combat run speed is set to what it is to keep from ‘shrinking’ the size of the maps (the ‘relativity reason’) and to keep from lvl 2s blowing past every mob as they immediately run to Orr after the starter sequence ( the ‘game-balance reason’).

And NO! This is not a good excuse/time for people to shamelessly plug the ‘this is why we need mounts’ stupidity.

Shakes booty infront of face. FLUFFEH WHITE BUNNEH!!!!

Yes.

A post here will totally destroy the market. Sorry TP flippers. My bad.

My point is, you make it sound so easy, but if it was as easy as you say for everyone, a lot more people would do it and then it wouldn’t be so easy anymore.

TP flippers don’t actually mind at all and you stated the exact reason why. “He makes it sound so easy”, b/c it is…if you know what you’re doing. But very few have a clue. They read a bunch of ‘nerf flippers’, ‘flippers are manipulating prices with their mountains of gold’ and similar threads/posts.

Then they think, ‘hey! Buy low and sell high! That sounds easy enough…I’ll have a mountain of gold as well!’

Unfortunately, they don’t have the skills or knowledge to understand how the economy works that flippers operate in. So they buy a bunch of stuff at the wrong times/prices then sell a bunch of other stuff at the wrong times/prices. Ultimately, they shake up some markets with artificial supply/demand, they lose some gold, and then, disheartened at the situation, they give up and look for a thread like this one in hopes of grinding some of that gold they lost/hoped to have. That’s what the flippers want them to be off doing anyway.

So cheers to easy gold! The flippers will stay flippers. The farmers/grinders will keep finding places to farm and grind. And..uhhmmm…the PHIWs will still wear Cleric’s gear and make passive builds. For all these people with that fuzzy ‘special snowflake’ feeling of being an individual…everything pretty much looks the same to me.

Burning has existed since launch and stacks in duration b/c it is incredibly powerful. It’s the ‘burst’ of conditions. Poison stacks in duration to maintain the pressure of other conditions so condi users aren’t fighting an eternal uphill battle against every/any other build (passive healing and/or short cooldowns).

I don’t, at all, understand how you’d intend to balance this proposed idea though tbh.

But there is the rare ring and accessory you can equip at lvl 2 though. Wearing equipment is only gated by the level of the equipment.

Are the new items you purchased Ascended quality? If so are they duplicates of ones you already have equipped? To ‘unequip’ jewelry, you have to click and drag it back over into your ‘equipment’ or right-click it and select "unequip [Jewelry Name]. You can not wear duplicate pieces of Ascended jewelry. This is what I would assume is going on.

Spirits can't die, OP for zergs?

B: Make spirits destructible but last until destroyed (like pets)

Chat: “Placed my spirit at the beginning of the dungeon, brb reloging to make it go away”…

Just change the spirit skill to a signet then back. Problem solved.

*got locked for spamming then Prysin covered this already. Though, if you use a signet instead of another spirit it will skip the CD.

@Solrik:why is killing off your own spirits a problem?

Spirits can't die, OP for zergs?

in Ranger

Let’s saaaay….

Spirits can’t die… That means they would be viable for zergs because the spirit buff would cycle through every single person, because those who activated the buff can’t receive it for 10 seconds, i.e. there are 10 seconds for others to activate it which leads to next point.

The whole zerg would have access to burning, protection, swiftness and healing. Would this be OP?

Assume 75% chance to activate and assume that two zergs start attacking eachother at roughly the same time. Almost every shot would activate one spirit so in about 1 or 2 seconds, there are 5 players who received protection, 5 who inflicted burning, 5 who got healing. In the next 1 or 2 seconds, another 15 activations happened……….

Why would you “‘assume’ 75% chance to activate” when the proc chances are given?
35% and 70% (traited)

We now have 16 trait points. What is OP?

Rune of The Ranger + Miniature?

Still works. Most likely won’t ever be fixed b/c the game recognizes the mini as a non-PC/NPC party member. ‘Companion’ is the only other option as far as the coding is concerned at the moment.

Suggestion-Create a constant speed buff

Yes. I’ve had the same problem. Grif detailed it well. This is a real pain for me as I do daily dungeon tours and emptying bags quickly between runs is a must. It’s not game breaking necessarily but an extra 30 secs to a minute I spend fighting with my inventory trying to sell/salvage often leads to me missing the first boss chest and loot bag of several dungeon paths.

Craft Backpacks have a MAJOR flaw

Tman.6349

It is intentional. The bust upgrade they can take is a rare lvl 65 (‘Embellished’ I believe) jewel. The stats, even with the lower level back piece and jewel, are still higher than their full exotic counterparts. They also have an infusion slot which no other exotic piece has.

Sorry you didn’t pay attention/understand how equipment levels and adding upgrades to them works. That’s an expensive way to learn a lesson about this very basic mechanic that has been in place since launch.

Plus if you don’t die from the 2s fear on the runes, it hardly matters now, does it?

Its not the 2s fear the kills you, its what your enemy can do in those 2 seconds that you can’t. Again, he did nothing to gain those 2 seconds. You were feared because you attacked him.

Better get over to the Ele forums and demand Flame Barrier be removed too.
