Engineer's Healing Turret Needs To Be Fixed!

condition removal on a 15-20 second cooldown?

“on demand” ish water field?

purely aesthetic?

My traited healing elixir also gives me condition removed on a 20 second cooldown. It also gives me a heal that is more than twice as large with the exact same cooldown (20 seconds for traited elixir, 20 seconds for turret. 15 if I insta-pickup). It also gives me a 10 second regen compared to my turret’s 3. It also gives me, on top of all of that, another buff.

So, yea… water field with turret vs 2x bigger heal, 3x longer regen, same condition removal and an extra buff. Hard choice there…

You are talking about a traited elixir versus the healing turret.

From the state of the Game I gathered that the main intention for the healing turret change was to open up other builds.
In other words: when you do NOT go for 409 trait, or elixir traits in general, than the healing turret provides almost simular effects without spending traits on it.

Not saying this makes the healing turret better, just saying you shouldn’t compare to traited elixir H, since the goal was to give something to those engineers who didn’t do that…

Ok, then lets look WITHOUT traits:

Elixir H: 5600 heal every 25 seconds, random buff (10 sec regen, swiftness/protection)
Healing Turret overload: 2600 heal every 20 seconds, 3 second regen, condition removal, no buff

If you insta-pickup without taking time to overload, you can knock off 5 seconds from that (putting the heal comparable to the Elixir H since every 30 seconds you would drop a 5200 heal), but lose the condition removal. So definitely overload, since without it you have a subpar heal, subpar regen time, and no buff.

And that isn’t even comparing the thrown elixir vs the healing turret toolbelt.

Without traits, the Elixir H still, IMO, comes out ahead. With traits, there is no question.

HealingTurret nerf to Supply Crate?

Jesus. 50% reduction on the heal? Why don’t they want us to use the healing turret anymore? This isn’t a “Oh it was a bit too powerful so we brought it down to size” nerf, this was a “We don’t want people to ever use this skill anymore so lets just make it worthless” nerf.

Looks like it’s elixirs for me

the actual heal is pretty nice, and much better.

the overcharge for it was buffed big time

- Reduced Healing Turret overcharge skill recharge from 60 seconds to 15 seconds
- Now heals as much as deploying does.
- Healing range is now 2520-3270.
- Now applies 5 seconds of regeneration.
- Removes 2 conditions when activated.
- Now deploys a 5-second water field.

My elixir gives a a 5600 HP heal on a 25 seconds cooldown (20 with traits) and 10 seconds of regen

My turret gives a 2600 HP heal on a 20 second cooldown (15 if I drop it and insta-pickup) and 3 seconds of regen.

I just can’t see why I would pick the turret…

You repeatedly infer that “Instanced Raiding” is a WoW thing when it’s not, and even if it was so what? WoW is a “Good” game, that’s why its been so prominent.

Well, since this game is NOT WoW, has no intention of becoming WoW, and there a few hundred WoW clones already present in the world… I don’t see this game adding on its primary selling points, so this is all pretty much a moot point anyway.

Instanced raids will probably arrive at the same time as the trinity system and flying mounts.

From what I’ve seen from all the Raid topic’s; People who are advocating raid’s are not advocating for “Gear Progression”. I’m sure your aware of these other forums as I recall having this same conversation with you, and yet you continue to beat the “Strawman”.

This and the “I think its funny” thread are the only two threads on which I’ve discussed raiding in this game. I’ve been on a several month hiatus (since last November), so whoever you are remembering- it wasn’t me. I’m a brand new thorn in your side, I’m afraid

I find it funny that with 200+ WoW clones out there, people come to this game KNOWING it will never be like that and still try to demand instanced raids, the trinity system and flying mounts.

And the rest of us, and probably Arenanet too, just sit back and laugh at their silliness.

I also find it funny that after 8 months, they still haven’t added the option to search armor by type on the tradepost.

No, now we just use something else. Using the healing turret at this point is for aesthetic purposes only. You get a better use heal and passive heal just running the elixir. :-\

Releasing raid in the WoW format of instanced raids with high loot tables is a slippery slope that I am sure Arenanet doesn’t want to get on.

If you add the raid and only have it drop ascended/exotic gear, the raiders will whine and cry that they DESERVE (yay baseless sense of entitlement) better. So they add new gear to raids, and make it better than what is currently available. If they don’t make the same gear available to the rest of the game, everyone gets funneled into raids and it becomes another end game instanced-raid WoW clone like the dozens of others out there. If they DO add equivalent gear to the rest of the game, the raiders bloated sense of entitlement will have them screaming that no one else but them deserves that level of equipment (just go read the WoW or Rift forums for examples of this).

So… do you add a raid with no new gear, only current gear, to the game and have the raiders whine and cry anyway because they don’t get new, phat lootz OR do you add the raid to the game, add new phat lootz and then deal with the backlash your future choices regarding that will bring OR do you just not add raids at all?

I dunno, I’m a lazy SOB, so I’d choose just to overlook instanced raids and let those players get their instanced raiding done in the 200+ WoW clones that exist already, while giving the players of this game EQ style open world raids.

They are dumb. Idiotic. No sense at all) turrets to attach a target of my choosing, including NPCs they normally dont shoot (like.. oh… dragons?).

Let me make my turrets NOT shoot inanimate objects and NOT ignore dragons and I’ll be happy!

Raiding content has always been about Instanced dungeons which provide progression in “Gear”; what is defined as an “Progression” is merely up to the developer. The problem with “Raiding/Lx Events” in Guildwars 2 is the fact the content is “Open” and allows an “Infinite” number of players to participate whilst reaching it max scaling point at a “Finite” number.

Our definitions of “Always” are very different. Just because that is how WoW did it does not make it how it should be, especially considering the big raid game that came BEFORE WoW (Everquest) had open world raids.

I said it before and will say it again- just because WoW did something, doesn’t mean that it is how it should be!

Raiders dont want to accept that raiding exists in open world form because that isn’t how WoW did it, so therefor it isn’t valid. Nvm that WoW’s predecessor, Everquest, DID do it that way…

It’s something we’re absolutely aware of and want to address in the future, one of my main characters is an engineer so I feel ya on this one. My poor quaggan backpack is visible like 2% of the time I play as I kit swap, never mind my weapon skins.

We’re currently focusing our engineering (programmers, not guys with net guns) resources that could work on solutions to issues like kits/skins on major systems that address issues higher priority and wider reaching like lag in large battles, LFG, custom arenas, spectator mode and so on but this issue is absolutely on our radar.

As always, please post your ideas of what you’d like to see solution wise, we love to see the fun ideas y’all come up with too!

With situations like this going on, I can’t help but wonder if they may they are finally going to consider letting us hide those things.

They serve no purpose beyond aesthetics (I mean honestly: if you can’t determine whether an engineer is running flamethrower or grenade kit without it, a backpack isn’t going to help you), so I see no reason why we shouldn’t be given the ability to hide if they get in the way.

They clip with many armors, look hideous with some of my favorite sets, and we see at least one of these “Please let us hide kit backpacks” threads once a week.

I plead with you Arenanet- have mercy on our poor, unloved souls! For those of us who do not like a big bulky backpack… give us the ability to hide them! I don’t care if you put a big neon sign over my nameplate stating which kit I’m using, or a buff icon to do the same… just let me get rid of that hideous thing ruining my armor set when I try to run kits!

To do it right would require a lot of time, effort and expenditure on ANet’s part. I’d rather they spent the time and money on things that matter to me. No offense, guys, but every MMO post launch, even the big dog, has finite resources to throw at desired features.

Heh there is another post on the front page talking about this mindset in MMO players. Every patch can be for them, but the second a patch comes out that doesn’t contribute to what they personally like- “OMG WTF IS ANET DOING?! THEY ARE WASTING EFFORT! ME ME ME!”

Last man standing = Best player in the party?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Tolmos.8395

It depends a lot on circumstances.

This. Without context of the fight, it’s impossible to tell. But I will say this: if someone claims they are the best in the part because they were the last standing, I usually immediately assume they contributed the least to the fight and spent their entire time trying to avoid taking while putting out minimal offense, letting their teammates (who were trying to play both offensive and defensively) die first.

But truthfully, it could go either way so you’d have to see the fight to know. Did they put out as much damage as their peers while still managing to stay alive and be the last man standing? Then they are the best in the team. Did they roll around like an idiot and do 1/4 the damage of their teammates cause they were too focused on “OMG RUN RUN RUN RUN YAAAAAY IM THE LAST ONE STANDING!”? Then no, they suck at GW2 and need to consider practicing a whole lot more.

1 server. Out of 50+. That you can guest to. How would that in any way inconvenience everyone else?

Atm we have a handful of servers that are on the brink of death as it is, since everyone keeps traying to cram into a handful of bigger servers (Like tarnished coast).

So my suggestion is that one day, when Anet starts shutting down some of the lesser used servers, they keep 1 open. Shuffle everyone off as if they were closing it, make it a free for all murderfest and let folks guest into it. No characters can be made there. No characters can live there. There is nothing to gain from being there that can’t be gained in a PvE server.

But EVERYONE is your enemy.

And it is only ONE server. 1. Uno. Ein. Ichi. A single server. And it would make everyone happy.

Except, of course, the folks who want to whine for the sake of whining. “It’s mere existence gives me hives! How COULD YOU Anet? /le gasp”

What I don’t understand is why, out of the 50+ servers that they have, they couldn’t spare a single server for open world. 49+ servers to be just like it is now, with 1 “omg everyone is out to get me” server to guest to for open world PvP fun.

It would be like a PvP vacation land.

Rift was my first MMO, and when I created my first toon I didn’t know what PVP involved and chose an open PVP server. During the first large scale event I was outside the capital city attacking invading mobs when I accidentally caught someone from a different faction in an AoE spell. I was maybe level 10 out of a max of 50, and he was 50, so of course when I got his attention he killed me pretty much instantly.

I rezzed and went back, where he killed me again. After the third time I logged out and deleted that toon, then restarted on a PVE-only server. A lot of casual/newbie players don’t understand PVP etiquette or why ganking is allowed. Faced with this situation, especially considering that GW2 is not sub-based, a lot of players will simply quit the game altogether instead of going to a new server.

Creating an open-PVP server will most likely cause more people to leave the game than it will bring into the game.

1. Out of 50+.

Let me reiterate with visual representation. + is a PvP server. ~ is a PvE server.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~+~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
That is what the server layout would look like if 1, out of 50+ servers, was an open world PvP server.
Your story was interesting, but defeated your own point. You didn’t quit Rift in that scenario. You rerolled. Onto a PvE server. Which, btw, there will be 49+ of in my proposal.
I don’t see the issue here.
Too much work for temporary content.
Well you can’t compare an mmo to food cooked by a chef.
Why not?
Because it’s like comparing a carrot to an airplane.
Insufficient answer. A chef creates a meal as an art to be savored, tasted, and finished. Over and done.
Why can’t they be content chefs creating a meal to be savored, tasted, and finished?
I do not see (yet) any reasonable explanation of why it’s different. I see an arbitrary statement because.
The chef also doesn’t spend a few weeks + $100,000+ in labor to create his meal.
There is a distinct price, time and labor difference between baking a cake and producing AAA MMO content.
Would be great fun. Probably can’t have players drop loot (generate loot out of nowhere, at least) like in WvW. So people wouldnt exploit farm it (2 naked characters killing each other over and over, etc).
Still I think a server like that would definitely entertain alot of people.
DR could apply to PvP same as PvE. Have it so that if you kill a player, then for the next 30 minutes to an hour that player will drop no more loot for you. OR, rather than time based, that you have to kill 2-3 other players first before that player drops loot again (or 30 minutes passes, whichever happens first).
So, here’s a lovely little suggestion to Anet…let us get the areas we need through the “Guest World” option. This still means we have to explore the areas in the world as you would like but it ALSO allows us to actually achieve the goal we are trying to get without all the aggrevation!
Go ahead and waste time pinging your zerk from bags, you’ll be detected for having lacking dps (@4acolytes or 4 braziers) and will get kicked eventually (deservedly so too). Don’t join if you don’t conform. Go make your own MF party lol, enjoy waiting staring at your gw2lfg post.
The more dps the party outputs, the faster bosses melt, the less chance players have to go down and drag the run. What’s so hard for you to understand that? If you don’t want to join a 5min p1 run party or w/e, then don’t complain and join a normal p1 party.
All I’m seeing is OP asking for kitten and paying with fake bills and complaining he needs real bills to get his fun…
So you are on of the zerker warriors only P1 runs? Thats cute… Start open your eyes. Zerker warrior isnt the only good DPS in the game. Have you ever seen a necro being played the right way? I have actually tested it out with a guildie. Full zerker necro VS full zerker warrior against the gate controller. The necro got it down at around 2,5 sec, but the warrior used around 3,5. Wells + bone minions + dagger mainhand is INSANE dps
Can you read ? Or do you hear voices when you read? Where on earth did I type anything about zer war in my post? But here I’ll enlighten you..
My signature says I’m a S/D thief. I got a zerk war but I don’t even use it for p1 farm.
My thief handles it better:
I can warp in and out of accolyte area and take 3 of em down without risk thanks to steal/sword #2 mobility (I even synchronize my #1 accolyte’s respawn with my cloak and dagger animation).
I deal with gate controller faster without having to have to retrait for effigy, so warriors save their stuff for initial effigy burst.
Sword thief offers 4 methods to deal with effigy’s attacks, can dodge, can use Withdraw to roll out of circle and instantly be back in melee with Steal/Infiltrator strike, can evade the hits with Flanking strike, or I can just drop a shadow return on him so I don’t get affected by knockdown. My sword AA chain deals above 10k.
TL;DR : if you don’t contribute to your party’s fast p1 run times, then you’ll get the boot. Bet it any profession/any spec/any gear.
You can’t complain that the bulk of p1 farmers are zerk wars though. They bring instant 25might + 25vulnerability + 190 power + 15% crit dmg + 190 prec + other stuff to whole party right at the beginning.
LOL, well he never said u were a zerk warr.
It’s like watching an old Looney Toons cartoon where someone gets smashed into a hole, and then pushed down farther… and farther… and farther.
The first couple of patches it was humorous. Now it just feels malicious. Someone has it out for engineers 0_o
I’ve been an engi for a long time, most of the nerfs really were needed. I would honestly accept “another” 30% damage nerf for grenades if just the #1 would auto-attack. For the health of my hand I don’t touch grenades much as they….
We have many ‘passable’ builds (Static Discharge, Gadgets, MultiKit,) but at the end of the day our primary builds (HGH Nades, HGH Pistol/Rifle, TurretBunker) are better in every way.
Asura were supposed to have Polymock (or minipet arena) of this I am certain.
Sylvari? I’d say Seed Turret Tower defense (maybe parody plants versus zombies).
Humans? I draw a blank.
It can mean anything from they are healing, to they are support utlities, to they are tanky and hold aggro, to they drop combo fields… I mean when does the line of support get crossed into another term? Might as well just classify every non zerk build as support because people call everything support.
Something to remember about Thieves
in Guild Wars 2 Discussion
Posted by: Tolmos.8395
Tolmos.8395
In all these threads about Nerfing Thieves because we’re “way too slippery; way too fast; way too stealthy; way too awesome” (okay, we are pretty awesome) is that our mechanics come along with trade-offs.
1) We have the fewest hit points in the game.
2) We have the fewest weapons in the game
3) We have no special offhand weapons/foci like the other classes
I’m not saying these things make us especially weak, compared to others, but that’s because we get compensated with strengths to offset them.
1) We _ are supposed to _ have the highest single target spike damage in the game
2) We have an initiative system which lets us be more fluid in combat
3) We have steal, which might be as cool as an offhand foci – sometimes.
(other Thieves will be able to add to these lists)
We’re not remotely the only class what has Stealth, so I’m not going there.
Nor are we the slipperiest class in the game, though we’re supposed to be.
We are different from some of the other classes in how our mechanics work – but we trade for everything we get; and what we’ve been getting is nerfed in every update because people are screaming and the devs are forgetting that we were built to be balanced against ourselves. Every time they nerf one of our benefits, our drawbacks get that much heavier with no compensation. How is that right, or fair to the players involved?
Thieves are fun to play, because we are a little different from the other classes, but we get less fun when every update comes with a nerf; and the people calling for them don’t know anything about the class. So, now at least you’ll know a little more next time you complain.
And that’s my vent for the day.
I first started playing during the early access for pre-orders, and played for a few weeks. I managed to get a level 56 warrior but realized that my computer was completely unable to do world vs world.
I just got my new PC up and running and want to return to the game, however, I’m sure a lot has changed. Probably so much so that I should probably just start a new character.. right?
Not for a level 56. If you were 80 I would say go for it, but for a level 56 nothing has changed that you had gotten to and really messed with a lot anyway
You can't just nerf...
Come on ArenaNet!
You can’t just nerf things like in guild wars 1! At least in GW1 your build didn’t depend on gear, at least not as much as in GW2. People invest a lot in their builds, they buy the right armor, trinkets, weapons, sigils and runes for it. If you keep nerfing things, a lot of people wil end up with a broken character that needs a complete revamp, which is expensive.
Now, I can rant for hours about how I utterly despise nerfs and the terrible concept of nerfing someone’s character is (a character he/she is proud of and put a lot of work in), but that’s not going to change anything anyway.
Just think about what you’re doing, you can’t just nerf things into the ground when builds depend a lot on gear.
This is why you level 1 of everything to 80. >_> Disposable classes 4tw!
Hah, glad I read this thread. I was going to go into WvW and drop tons of boons on everyone thinking I was doing good work.
Teaches me for not keeping up with the latest and greatest PvP news.
On Gear acquisition vs Meta change
I’m not entirely sure where to post this but I suppose this is probably the best fit.
One of the things that I’m sure many people are noticing is that as soon as they get ascended gear that fits their current spec, that spec is either getting nerfed or something else is getting buffed necessitating either a complete reroll or just a respeccing of that character.
This annoyance is compounded by the fact that it takes a significant amount of time to acquire ascended gear.
For example I recently spent all my laurels buying ascended gear for my ele only to find that I’m probably going to be much better off in the near future either playing my engi or rerolling to thief (not sure yet I haven’t read the notes.)
I find this unacceptable and I’m sure many people are just as frustrated as I am.
My suggestion to Anet is to make Ascended gear farmable so that the rerolling/respeccing process won’t be so frustrating.
Thanks for reading.
I thought it already was? I thought that was why everyone was running Fractals over… and over… and over… and over… they were getting multiple sets of ascended gear?
Whack-a-mole balancing is BAD
After hearing about the SotG, it really made me wonder why anet starts (or rather continue) to nerf everything… I saw many games falling into the same mistake, and I really don’t want to experience it in GW2.
Too late its been happening with every class balance change since the BWEs.
It’s been happening in every MMO for all of time. I’ve never understood why all game creators feel the need to balance in THIS manner.
Anet just happens to be worse about it than most. To be fair, they haven’t been near as terrible about it as they were in GW1. They were downright infamous in their nerfing of that game.
Collector Edition or Digital Deluxe?
When i bought Guild Wars 2 i was always contemplating on the question on whether to buy the collector edition or Digital Deluxe.
The collector edition looks really neat with Rytlock statue and various other features but looking at and its pricing is hard to judge. I wouldn’t mind going for the digital deluxe to acquire the digital items but i do still linger on the idea to buy the collector edition. Any suggestions on this?
I got the digital deluxe and don’t regret it at all. I don’t see myself wanting to keep the collectors edition physical stuff, tbh.
