Folks have been begging for this since day 1. Jumping puzzles, screen shots, the oculus Rift… just being able to zoom all the way into your character would be a HUGE boon.

Eventually everyone realized Arenanet just doesn’t know how. For whatever reason, while the GW1 team was able to program that into the game, the GW2 team hasn’t been able to figure it out yet. :-\

I have my fingers crossed that they do figure it out one day, though. A lot of folks would be really happy over it.

Suggestion: Experience scroll worth 20 levels

They could also make the item give a fixed amount of experience instead, for example 115,759 experience. This is how much you need to get from level 1 to level 20. Since this is not even one level once you hit level 65, I would also propose that the scroll grants you at least 5 levels.

That could work as well. At least I would get some use out of my scrolls =D

One thing that I would love is to have the experience scrolls, that you receive with the Birthday gifts, be worth 20 levels regardless of what level your character is (up to 80). Atm, it will only take a character from 1-20… that’s fine, except all my character slots are full with characters who are already 20+. ;_; I have one of every class past 20, and no desire to have duplicates. And yet, after getting 3 characters to 80, 1 to 60 and 1 to 50… I sure wouldn’t mind being able to pop one of those scrolls on that 60 and be done with him =D

First world problems. :-\

What they should do is just mix utility skills of the same type, while re-categorizing certain skills to become the same type.

For example, Shouts.
A Warrior could go Warrior/Guardian and get Save Yourselves.
A Guardian could go Guardian/Warrior and get Fear Me.

Signets are already all across the board, except for Engineer.
Thief/Warrior could take Signet of Might.
So Ele/Guardian could take Signet of Judgment or go Ele/Mesmer could get Signet of Inspiration, but the Ele cannot get both Signet of Judgment and Signet of Inspiration on their bar at the same time.

This is Utility only of course, nobody else is getting Healing Signet.

Cantrips and Meditations work the same way, re-categorize Cantrip to Meditation(or Meditation to Cantrip, doesnt matter) so we can get mixes.

Any AoE such as Shadow Refuge, Hallowed Ground and Null Field could also fall in the same category(yes other classes can get Stealth, but not Sneak Attack. They will also never benefit from Stealth traits that only Thieves have).

Banners and Conjured Weapons(Warriors cannot get Fiery Greatsword, it is Elite, and Eles can never get Battle Standard. Utility only) could be mixed.

Then mix minions like Spirits, Spirit Weapons, Minions.

And since Engineer would be all by itself with no love at all during that patch, it would keep right in line with Arenanets current vision for Engies. =D

Biggest thing for me isn’t so much which gives more its which gives more Permanent content.

I agree. Looking back on the past 6 months… there’s so much content that was just thrown away. Imagine how much we would have, right now, if all of that dev time was spent on PERMANENT content? Holy crap…

The living story, at least it being removed after the 2 weeks that it is in the game, is easily my least favorite part of GW2.

Any word on what's after the living story?

So, with all the talk of the Scarlet story coming to a conclusion in a few more patches, and the rumors that this could possibly be the end of the Living Story and temp content (yay!), I was curious: has there been any talk on the future of patches for GW2? Do they still plan to continue pushing out 2 week patches? Will they continue doing temp content, but just no more Scarlet stuff (boo).

I can’t imagine how amazingly huge and awesome the game would be if they pushed out PERMANENT content every 2 weeks. The past year’s worth of stuff alone would have been a massive % increase in the size of the game and amount of stuff to do. The idea that they could put out the same amount of effort into making the game bigger and more awesome is certainly appealing to me!

So… has anyone heard anything?

Anet, you have a gorgeous game, and I want to see it! It’s frustrating having to pan around your toon just to get a good view at your surroundings. We could barely even see the toxic tower from the ground, or the queens pavilion, or the zephyr sanctum. Not to mention any large world boss.

Before you make any more amazing content that is gorgeous to look it, please implement an ability for us to actually look at it properly! It’s a feature in most MMOs now days and can’t possible be this hard to implement.

Fix now please! I want to see Tyria!

Lol if you want first person view go and play shooter games or simulation games not mmos .

lol MMOs have had first person modes since the days of Everquest back in 1997. Finding one that isn’t top down and DOESN’T have FP mode is quite rare, in fact.

I do. I remember the massive Queen’s Jubilee update releasing just before Final Fantasy XIV’s early access, making it exceptionally difficult to choose which I would be spending my time on.

It’s a smart business move. I’d be disappointed if they didn’t do it. Need to give players something exciting on the homefront or they might wander off when new shinies appear.

Looking for a PvE/WvW hybrid build

I spend a lot of time bouncing between WvW and general PvE- mostly solo PvE stuff, but sometimes dungeons…. fractals to be specific. A little roaming in WvW, but mostly stick to the zerg, trying to help out as much as I can. As much as I switch between the two, it’s becoming tiresome and costly to constantly switch out specs. So I’d like to see if one exists that makes a pretty decent hybrid between the two.

I do have 1 limit: the weapons I have available are
-Sword
-Greatsword
-Mace
-Shield
-Focus
-Hammer
-Staff

I bought special skins for them and can’t really get any others atm (the jade skins. No money to buy more).

My armor itself is all Berserker, and I have 1 berserker accessory set and 1 soldier accessory set. All my weapons are berserker as well.

So… with all this in mind: does anyone have a decent build laying around that might work well between those two? =D

Moved my suggestion to this issue from the other thread:

A long term solution for this and other things, something to work on over time, could be an optional and more prioritized culling.

Enemies always visible
Players in party always visible
Guildmates and friends more likely to be visible than others
Everyone else less likely to be visible

Go to escape ? settings ? graphics ? Enable culling. What is and isn’t visible is determined by FPS- it optimized to put you at 20-30 fps, or an fps you choose. Removes players and non-aggressive NPCs as necessary

That would pretty much render this issue moot, as players can turn it on and no longer worry about lag from too many objects on the screen.

Maybe the cooldown should only go into effect if the pet is used in combat? Not sure how to fix the situation if it is really causing issues at big events like teq. The teq I did yesterday, however, went over just fine even with this cd implemented.

All other alternatives are too expensive,time-consuming, or difficult to implement.

There were two changes they could have done:
-increase cooldown timer
-increase ember price from vendor to make it more costly to spam

Considering that there are plenty of people with stacks of embers in their inventory, I think they felt that the 1st choice was better

I’m not offended by the statement, for the record. I feel the dev was annoyed when he replied, but he did so with enough tact. I do feel as if I’ve been addressed by a customer service representative who has no power to do anything about the change, though, which is why I’m not concerning myself with it.

And if embers were affecting the loot table, then nerf THAT. It’s an exploit. Using embers to do more DPS is just working as intended, as they exist for the sole purpose of doing DPS and are therefore not an exploit in that regard.

Now I can have my pet out for, what, the 5 minutes it’s allowed to exist? Then I have to wait 25 minutes before I do anything RP related?

Unfortunately, I don’t think it was a matter of just loot tables or dps. It’s a matter of the engine and screen rendering being optimized to have x number of people/npcs on the screen, and the addition of the 1 extra NPC per player was killing fps for a lot of players.

Sadly, this wasn’t always necessary, but players convinced Anet to remove the one thing that kept it in check: culling. With culling disabled, EVERYTHING is on the screen now. So now, they have to start keeping better tabs on how many objects are on the screen at once, and this is the result.

I can’t say I’m offended by his statement at all, though I do think he should reconsider the way he uses his official account. That message was better suited for a personal account that didn’t have the Arenanet logo plastered all over it. There’s a lot to say about PR…

Mostly I’m terribly confused by the blatant bug comment. How does an entire line of items and graphics end up in a game when it wasn’t intended? =D As if someone could just like forget to carry a zero in the pvp ranking code and the end result be that a bunch of erroneous summoning items poof into the game out of nowhere. =D

Two rifle modes would be awesome. Our current mode isn’t a rifle at all- it’s a shotgun. So give us shotgun mode and rifle mode, rifle mode focusing less on damage and spread and more on single target, ranged damage. Shoulder shooting and all that. That would keep us lore friendly, keep us ranged , but allow us at least 1 more option.

I find it curious that I seem to be entirely alone in simply not minding the backpacks. Yeah, they don’t fit every single character design. Ofc they don’t, neither does the weapon you’re wielding in the kit.

Sure, an option to change the look would be cool, but I’d put it pretty kitten low on the priority list. I mean I get for human engineers it’s bad because the size is so overdone compared to your character. Should have rolled Asura, like the rest of us.

Hopefully they will just implement a hide so that folks who like them can continue to enjoy them. When you toggle the hide, the backpack vanishes and you get an icon by your nameplate instead.

Or you always have an icon by your nameplate, regardless of whether it is hidden or not.

Then everyone wins!

heh… as a programmer, I’m having a hard time wrapping my head around this sentence. When I think of a bug, I think of an unintended abnormality in something expected… not the sudden appearance of an entire line of objects + graphics. That’s like saying the Windows Control Panel was a blatant bug. Not that it’s issues were bugs, but that the existence of the control panel and its available options simply weren’t intended, and just poofed into being without anyone knowing how or why. =D

What would GW2 be like with trinity?

Yea, I played trinity games for 8 years and never experienced even 1/4 of the nightmare I’ve seen described in this thread.

I like GW2’s dungeon system just as it is, but I’d also be pretty excited about the idea of it going Trinity. Not going Trinity will keep things as they are, which means continued loyalty from the current playerbase. Going Trinity would be a massive gamble, but could very well be quite fun. I know that I’d probably start doing more dungeons if that happened.

Either way is fine for me, and I really don’t buy any of the doom and gloom BS you see on both sides of the fence here. Trinity games are a lot of fun, and are doing just fine. And the current GW2 dungeon system is really fun, and is doing just fine. The playerbase won’t be hurt either way, regardless of what direction Anet goes with it.

A quick tip for the future, you can check the drop rate of different items from black lion chests in this page:

http://gw2blacklion.com/

according to it you have a roughly a littie over 20% chance of a scrap, and roughly 1.5% chance of a ticket, which means you would have expected about 8 scraps and 0 (maybe 1 if you were lucky) tickets from 37 chests… so I guess you did get lucky on the scraps.

I’m waiting… for april.

And in April you will be waiting for May and in May you will be waiting for June and in June you will be waiting for July and the list goes on an on.

I’m still waiting for all those promises in 2013 that never came to pass.

The problem is GW2 is that’s pretty much all we do these days – wait for things that never come and keep buying into every lie that Anet feeds us.

Quite frankly I’m of the opinion – I may be done waiting VERY soon. The game simply isn’t delivering on anything it promised and there are a lot of other viable options for gaming these days and coming out in the near future.

I don’t think any person of sound reason would wait over 2 years for anything to happen in GW2 that would change the end-game content of this game. There are plenty of games on the horizon that will take even more people from GW2 unless there’s de facto something expansion-quality-wise coming out in April.

We shall see soon enough.

Big patch around the same time as ESO is released. (I’m not a fan of eso but a ton are).

It’s my opinion and I’m sure a lot would agree they have one last chance to impress us come April before most simply give up and move to other games.

This is nothing new- every MMO does this. It’s not a “last chance” thing so much as trying to keep current players from venturing off by giving them something nice to see back at home. Players start hearing hype about new games and they get interested… so they want to build hype for this game as well among the community.

Check out the patch schedule for most major MMOs- they will all be doing the same thing. The bigname MMOs at GW2’s release did the same thing when this game hit the shelves.

Out of the 35 boxes, I also got 2 more lockbox keys. So 37 lockboxes in all.

Out of 37 lockboxes, I got
0 Tickets
13 Scraps

That’s hardcore. A ton of random boosters and some ingredients, some giant wintersday gifts… and that’s all.

Someone in this class forum must have REALLY antagonized an Anet employee, and they are getting some hardcore vengeance on us. As I stand here in Divinity’s Reach, I realize that out of the 100+ people on my screen, I’m the only visible engineer. :-\

Ah well, I like being unique at least.
