To all who think the Achievement Points are a competition…
Grow up.
It’s ridiculous that 1% of the player population has to call fowl on such a meaningless, yes meaningless, awards system. Good grief people, how in the world do you make a competition out of insanely random participation activities. I know a few of you think that leaderboard matters in some wacky, irrational way. But it doesn’t.
We can’t tell you how to play the game? Ok, then you can’t tell everyone else they’re a bunch of cheating free-loaders for being given pointless points by a game company. Ya’ll need to do one simple thing…
Get it out of your heads that this thing matters…at all.
It’s absolutely meaningless as any form of competition. Period. And if you think otherwise you are suffering from, as Han Solo once said, delusions of grandeur.
Seriously…get over yourselves.
This entire post can be summed up to:
“I missed the patch a couple weeks back that added in game item and account based rewards for achievement points”.
=D
Oh man, I can’t wait to see how much xp you get for 400-500. Based on the cost, I would assume you would get 5 levels just for 400-500. =D
Threads like this are why no one can have anything nice. There are players who like to maximize their time and rewards. To them, the story means nothing and dungeons mean nothing. To them, things like the “Plinx Farm” were the most fun way to play.
Then someone complained, just like this. No more plinx farm.
Why did they complain? Who knows. Maybe because ruining the gameplay of others is how they get their jollies. Or maybe, like a small child, everyone must play their way or no way at all. So it’s gone.
And now, they have Queensdale. They run their little circuit and it DOESN’T AFFECT YOU at all, and yet here is this thread. Right here, this thread. And the purpose of this thread? “They don’t play Guild Wars 2 in a way that I approve of, so I think it should be stopped.”.
:-\
I feel that this little change made many people realise, how awful “gw1 vets” are. All these posts about, how much stuff you should get, because you played different game… it’s just stupid.
I’m sick of your attitude, so called “gw1 vets”. From whole thread it looks like you’re a better race, because you played another game before. [sic!]
As for leaderboards: no one should change the rules of a match in the middle of it. If you’re doing such things, you should either make it more viable method of measurment, how much I invested in this game, or delete it. There’s no leaderboard that makes sense now. PvP? You still get matched with random ranked players. WvW? Same thing. AP? I can’t compete with people, who had played gw1.
But if leaderboards stay unchanged… What’s next? Maybe ANet should start giving 100 AP fo every 1000 gems, bought with real money? “gw1 vets” should say it’s a good idea, because everyone, who supports ANet, should get more and more rewards for doing it.
Holy crap. That’s probably the most venomous spiel of jealousy I’ve ever read >_>
If you feel that badly about folks having played this game’s predecessor when you haven’t, then go get and play it. Not that hard…
They gave away a free, entirely cosmetic, item out of the goodness of their heart? /gasp /indignation HOW DARE THEY?! How could I ever trust them again after such a shameful display of generosity.
But wait! There are some who didn’t get the entirely cosmetic item that most people probably will never take out of their inventory anyway? STOP THE PRESSES! This is big news! How can they run a business like this?!
Yep, it’s obvious to me now- GW2 is doomed. Their gift giving ways are just unacceptable… nay, downright deplorable. How could you, Arenanet? Just… how could you?
Anyone ever run power pistol builds? I always just kind of assumed they didn’t work, but I’m rather curious… do they?
I’m not a big fan of kits, but I love the gameplay of dual pistols. I ran them for nearly 10 months (from headstart to a couple weeks ago), and started shuffling towards other things. For some reason this got me thinking about power builds and the pistols =D
So, what do you think? P/P power? No chance, or doable? If so, what utilities do you suggest? Gadgets, turrets or alchemy… as long as it isn’t a hobosack wearing skill I’m all for it! Yea, I’m vain like that.
That’s awesome. Thanks for the info!
Suddenly really makes me want to get 1h weapons for dual wielding =D
Sure people who play 24/7 might love it, but it would drive more people off than keep people. After all, that’s why so many people leave other MMOs…they’re just tired of keeping up.
I guess it’s just different matters of perspective. For me it IS like a tv show, where if I were to have missed a previous episode then I would be less likely to start. And for me, the idea of having massive amounts of content (even when I can only play 3 hours a day) is really exciting. I want an MMO where I have enough solo and group content to keep my interested hundreds, if not thousands, of hours. So for me, the idea of removing content that was in the game is mind boggling.
I guess I can understand that some folks would look at it and instead of going “Wooo! I’ll never be bored again!” they would say “Aw crap. That’s a lot to do :-\ I quit!”… it’s just hard for me to wrap my head around.
Let me ask you…in games like WoW, how many quests are actually repeatable? Even in Guild Wars 1, most of the content was temporary. You did it once and moved on.
I can understand that, but that’s only looking from my perspective as a player that’s been around since headstart. What about the perspective of a new player. You’re right- in WoW or GW1, if I did something I would never return to it. To me, that old content still hovering around the game was pretty worthless. But what if a new player came along? To him it would be new and shiny and he would run off and do it with excitement and happiness.
My problem isn’t so much with the “Living story is only worth doing once”. That much makes sense. It’s more the “Living story exists for a temporary amount of time only, so only those who were around when it appeared can do it.” >_> If nothing else, that just feels like a waste of developer hours for some reason.
Just one hint. Do not choose the pistol. thats all…
My Norn engineer is dual wielding a pair of these pistols right now and wondering what you’re talking about…
0_o How?
I thought the max chests anyone could have right now is 2 (one tuesday, one yesterday), and only 1 produced a weapon skin.
So wait… the living story content is temp too? They aren’t just adding new pieces as they go, but removing the old as they go, too?
No way, that can’t be right. That’s too stupid to be right >_> Someone tell me that’s not right
The temporary content IS the living story. That’s the content that’s temporary. lol
That’s… the silliest thing I’ve ever heard in a game -_-’ Revolving , temporary events that come around the same time each year? Sure. Pretty normal. Temporary story that builds on top of previous chapters that are no longer available for new players because they were temporary, too? kitten?
Someone must have gotten really drunk when that idea hit the table.
Chances are Anet forget to set up their logs to record those these specific events and actions, and thus have no proof for individual player. Otherwise, there is no reason the banhammer had not dropped yet.
So yea, I wouldn’t hold my breath. Those exploiters got away with it this time. Just curse the fact that you weren’t among them.
So wait… the living story content is temp too? They aren’t just adding new pieces as they go, but removing the old as they go, too?
No way, that can’t be right. That’s too stupid to be right >_> Someone tell me that’s not right
What I want is a different standing animation for human males wielding a staff. Human females look awesome- they stand up straight and hold their staff like they are the boss. Human males are all hunched over like they’re constipated :-P I would love it if my guy just stood there with his staff like normal when it was wielded.
“Hey, guys, for your work in Gw1, you get this gold star”
I played GW1 because it was fun. I didn’t do any “work” in it, and especially not for GW2 rewards. I played GW1 for GW1. The fact that I get any shinies in GW2 because of it at all is magical to me- expecting more is downright ludicrous.
I made a guardian based around the jade dragon theme from the last event. I managed to get a total of 4 jade tickets. So far I have the staff, a mace and a shield. I’m left with 1 ticket left.
I would prefer he never have to use a non jade/dragon weapon, so I want to make this count. Since I have the mace/shield for defensive/healing type stuff, which weapon should I get for more pew pew oriented builds? I was thinking definitely a 2h, so it is down to the warhammer or the greatsword.
For a guardian, which tends to be more widely used and is generally more favored than the other? I want to make sure I pick the right one!
Thank you!
People are acting like they played Guild Wars 1 for the recognition and not because it was just a fun game.
Pretty much this. They have already rewarded GW1 players with plenty of items. We have so many unique skins, pets and neat stuff to play with that the addition of 500 AP is more than we could hope for. Now you want 500 more because… reasons?
I don’t see that happening lol
Goes both ways. Why are people overly sensitive to the mere possibility of political correctness?
Because it can start to be downright patronizing after a while. Only a handful of women are crazy enough to actually be offended by words like “outmanned” or “mankind”. But the rest have to feel like they are getting patted on the head for something they don’t even give 2 craps about, like it’s some sort of victory.
It’s like someone bringing up a valid point, and then other people blowing the point so out of proportion thakittens silliness overshadows the valid complaint entirely.
Wait… you’re joking right? In order to purchase the weapon we want, we have to pay an “entrance fee” of 3000 AP for some armor piece none of us wants?
Surely I’m reading this wrong. Someone please clarify this.
This is Guild Wars 2. That means a Guild Wars came before it. It would be expected that there would be some sort of rewards for those loyal customers who stayed with the games through both iterations.
There are such rewards even without inflating AP gain from GW1.
Also, it might be noted that these bonus APs from GW1 are not loyalty rewards. There is no tie to how much a given player supported GW1 financially, or even how much time someone played. These are rewards for being willing to engage in specific grinds.
Someone who played ten thousand hours, bought six copies of each game, purchased every cash shop option available, and so on does not get these rewards for his loyalty, but someone who played a fraction of that time and spent a fraction of that amount can.
Hmm, for that matter I have spent approximately nine hundred dollars on GW2. Does that make me more loyal than someone who has not ? How many APs per dollar spent should we be getting for our loyalty ?
I played for roughly 3000 hours before HoM became a thing and the knowledge of GW2 rewards came about. Just by playing those 3000 hours doing whatever looked fun, I achieved 24/50 of the HoM points. I never really went back to get any others.
Someone who played GW1 at for 10,000 would have to try really really hard to not end up with 40 HoM points just doing whatever. They would actively have to AVOID HoM stuff to get less than 40.
The achievements leaderboard is not and will not ever be competitive. Why? Because it is a time based achievement which heavily favors those who started playing the game earlier. You think someone who starts gw2 today has a chance? No.
Anyone who didn’t start playing gw2 on day one is late to the party. Similarly, anyone who didn’t play gw1 is also late to the party.
There is nothing competitive about the Achievements. Don’t delude yourself into thinking otherwise.
At least those people can effectively say, they have been playing GUILD WARS 2, and not some other game.
‘’Some other game’’
Show some respect . It can’t be just ‘’some other game’’ when your new game is named after it. Also, the user you quoted hit the nail on the head.
Additionally, a large portion of the story from this game consists of backstory from that “other game”. This isn’t just some random selection they made- GW2 exists BECAUSE of GW1.
This is Guild Wars 2. That means a Guild Wars came before it. It would be expected that there would be some sort of rewards for those loyal customers who stayed with the games through both iterations. This is certainly not the first game to do this, and most assuredly won’t be the last to do it.
I say “kudos” to Arenanet for the 50 AP. Especially if it’s 1 AP per HoM point, cause anyone who managed to get a full 50/50 in HoM certainly deserved it (I sure as crap didn’t and never will. Forget that. What a pain lol)
I agree. In this game I’m not much of an “achievement kitten”, but in games like “Orcs Must Die” I am. I’m not playing for reward- I have all the skins and skills and all that- I play for the achievement. For being able to say “yep, I did that!”. The same should apply here.
If I don’t want to do the “Complete Arah in 25 seconds or less” achievement (or whatever the achievement is), why would I expect to GET that achievement? Right now, achievements don’t earn you items or rewards- just the novelty of having the achivie and saying “I did it!”. So what possible argument could I have for saying “It takes away from my gameplay that I don’t get to have an achievement for something I didn’t achieve!” >_>
I don’t play for achievements, but I do know people who do. It’s yet another playstyle that doesn’t appeal to me (in this game at least) but I respect other people enjoy. I think there should be more achievements, harder achievements and achievements that require more time and effort overall.
EDIT- Wait… AP rewards? I missed something. Let me go read the patch notes. My entire rant above was on the notion that there is nothing to gain via achievements except achievements. >_> brb lol
Okay here’s a question. With the amount of patches coming out, and as fast as they have to be done, how much time would players actually have to play content. This stuff is happening mega-fast. They won’t put it up on the servers till it’s past their own internal testing. My guess is there isn’t much time.
Then you have maybe hundreds of players filing reports, and someone has to go through those reports. Some of them may be bugs, some of them may not be.
For a big company, with a long lead time, test servers might be a great idea, but I’m not thinking it would help greatly in a game where content arrives every 2 weeks.
As a software developer, if I had to take an educated guess, I would say the new content isn’t being produced in 2 weeks. There were some pretty long stretches in the past 10 months of no content being produced. I would bet good money they have some lead time on these patches in the upwards of a month+. Chances are, the patches being popped out today were started 1-1.5 months ago. More than likely there are 3+ different content teams working on these patches, so one releases while the other two+ are still working.
So, that said, there should still be time to test each individual patch appropriately before putting it out. I can’t imagine a company pushing out a patch to a live server with millions of customers on it and just saying “Meh, if it works, it works!” =D
I can’t speak for Anet, but I know in some companies there are a lot of bugs that make it through because of the crappy personality of the devs responsible for fixing it.
Example- the buddy of one of my coworkers was a game tester for a branch of EA. Not a beta or Alpha tester; I mean a “Grandma’s Boy” type paid tester (movie reference).
He was testing the PC version of a really crappy console port, and of course it was buggy as could be. Being the good little tester that he was, he reported bugs as he found them. The problem? He would constantly get emails back from the devs saying “Thats not a F***ing bug” and just ignore them.
So, just because a bug makes it past testing doesn’t make it the fault of the testers. Sometimes the testers do their job just fine, and its the devs who let it slide.
To fix this requires a carrot or stick situation, and a lot of folks here are saying “STICK!”. Personally, I would go with carrot.
If it were me, I would split the pre-events into more separate events that give full reward for taking part. This way, those who do all of the pre events get more rewards for doing so, and thus also garnering more participation from players who normally aren’t interested in doing it.
I kind of like the “issue”. I’d rather see a situation of “hit this button at this time” or “move out of the way at this time”, as opposed to other MMOs views of “wear this stat at this time” and “change to this stat at some other time”.
I would rather my personal playing be the damage mitigator, not my armor stats.
HAHA
Best thread, should be stickied or something.
(If people don’t get the reference, they had no childhood).
I had a rather normal childhood, well the same years spent as a child as most. I still don’t get it. Maybe my childhood era preceded the reference.
I realized that the other day, too.
A lot of the stuff online saying “When I was a kid” is actually from when I was a teenager/highschooler.
Welcome to getting old.
Only add it to FotM if you also add it to open world even bosses.
Don’t make the exact same mistake in the exact same way by funneling all players into 1 playstyle.
Every patch I zip straight to engineer on the patch notes, looking for those magical words.
Still no luck, yet.
Yes all games have damage midigation, but it is not the same as this. This is as close to a target-less system as I have seen a mainstream MMO go.
TERA was a mainstream AAA MMO and it is target-less.
Did you play it? ( I didn’t.), did you also play a target dependant system like WoW? What do you think about the differences between the two systems?
Yea, I played WoW for about 5 years, Rift for 1.5, and a few other tab targetting games for a little less than those. I played TERA for about 6 months. I’d say all together TERA played more like a third person shooter than an MMO. While MMOs are all about stats and gear, TERA was more about player skill and low latency. Not as much about player skill as some other games, considering the NPCs telegraphed their next moved in over exaggerated ways to let the player know what was coming, but still enough that you actually had to get the NPC in your crosshairs while moving around and dodging like mad.
All together it was enjoyable and I do miss it.
It sucks but this is your fault :P
It’s not his fault (don’t blame the victim), but it was nonetheless a very stupid thing to do.
Wrong. It is his fault. It is entirely his fault. The whole “never blame the victim” is incorrect. In this game trading is done through the trading post. You can not get scammed in the trading post. If you trade outside of it hoping for a quick cheap profit, you accept the inherent risk that you might (and probably will) get scammed. If you give that “Nigerian prince” 5k trusting he’ll come back with your promised million, you deserve what you get.
This isn’t a case of someone getting sexually assaulted because “SHE DESERVED IT!!”. THAT is when you apply the whole “never blame the victim” thing. This is a “nigerian prince” kitten. If you fall for it it’s entirely your fault. Be smarter next time.
If only there existed in MMOs this ability to pass items directly between two people in a safe manner… say, a window that pops up where one puts their items in one side, and another puts their items/money on the other side. If only such a concept existed commonly in other MMOs which could have been implemented here…
Naw. That’s crazy talk. Obviously everyone trading through the auction house system and losing money to their AH taxes was the most logical way to do things. Totally legit, amirite?
I see no need for a PTR, if you can release a patch every 2 weeks and fix the bugs within a few hours of the patch I find it much more beneficial then testing out a patch for a few weeks with tons of spoilers.
They should keep it the same, put all the of the patch in a NDA and keep us waiting until the last day to see whats been added, I like the surprise… bugs or not.
Besides all of the serious bugs get kept and exploited anyways
No. No no no no no no no. No. No.
http://www.sectalk.com/board/public/imported_images/i.lolzer.com/no-no-no-HELL-NO.gif
No.
No.
You say this now, but the first time they release a patch that wipes your bank of every item in it, you’ll be the first on here saying “WTF?! WHY DIDN’T YOU TEST THIS CRAP?!”. And if you think that’s not possible, go check WoW. It happened. Twice.
So how does one kill the grievers if they are standing at the traps causing crippled and making it virtually impossible for anyone to jump the ledges?
Bring more people than they can trap, spread out over their cooldowns, and let the beatings commence.
Whee… being an EVE player, this particular thread amuses me grandly. I see people saying things like it is actually stealing and even one person saying it should be illegal IRL and only isn’t because the law hasn’t kept up with technology. All I can think is “Holy crap, they would just arrest EVE. Not a couple of players in EVE, I mean they would just arrest the entire playerbase if that was the case.” =D
And no, there isn’t a difference, because EVE has a system called PLEX which gives a real currency value to the in game items/currency, same way gems do with gold here, so yea… it’s rather amusing.
Fight on, folks!
Edit- Personally, I’m thankful to MMO scammers. Seeing them in action in a setting that would only cost me virtual currency gives me a heads up on what folks IRL would do. You might chuckle at that statement, but I see EVE style scams on craigs list ALL the time. And guess what? I can spot em a mile away now. =D
Yes all games have damage midigation, but it is not the same as this. This is as close to a target-less system as I have seen a mainstream MMO go.
TERA was a mainstream AAA MMO and it is target-less.
The fact that we DO see an increased amount of MMOs alone shows that the genre is profitable enough to develop for. If it was suicide for the company nobody would do it.
I would bet money we will see a decrease. Remember: MMOs take a LONG time to make. Not one or two years, but four to six years. So the number of MMOs coming out today is a reflection of the market back in 2007-2009, NOT today. With the horrendous failure of extremely high investment games like SWTOR, it makes the market less of the guarantee that it was back in those days. That will have game makers thinking twice about pushing out as many MMOs.
In 3-4 years, I would be exceptionally surprised if we saw as many MMOs being released each year as we do today.
While I can see where you are coming from, I think she is making too big of a deal out of something that she could rectify by being norn. I, better than most here, understand that there are tall women out there. At 6’2", I am the SHORTEST in my family. My female cousins tower over me at 6’3" and 6’4". I’m considered the runt when I go to my grandparent’s place for family gatherings =D So I’m sure if my cousins played, they would want the same thing.
But one thing you have to consider is the armor art. The artists need a height range to work within, or the armor becomes skewed. “That’s stupid!” you might say. Is it? Make a male human. Make him a fatty- biggest body you can give him. Now go put on the exotic “acolyte” armor (the one with the little half skirt on the bottom). It clips like you wouldn’t believe. That’s what happens when the artists don’t take something into consideration when designing their armor!
For the artists, they need a set range to create their armor for. The problem is that women, on average, are shorter than the shortest men. Not sexism- is fact. So, if they allow women to not only be the shortest but also the tallest characters in the game, that creates this HUGE range that artists have to account for. That’s… rough.
Yes, it sucks that not everyone can make a character that looks exactly like them. But your friend is not alone. What about an exceptionally short male? 3-4 feet tall? What about the same height female? Those players will never be able to make someone, outside of Asura, who fits their desired height range.
I’m sure the devs would have loved to have that sort of customization ability in the game, but there are constraints you MUST work in. This is one of them.
The manifesto: What Arenanet wanted for Guild Wars 2 before particular NCSoft employees moving over to the company. Once those employees moved, a lot of stuff started changing.
The manifesto really isn’t so much of the bait and switch that folks think it is, but rather just the over optimistic and rather unrealistic hopes and dreams of developers who hadn’t had an opportunity to sit down with people like monetization producers and find out what really brings in money. Seriously, watch the manifesto video- see how excited and into it the devs are as they describe what is likely their dream MMO… OUR dream MMO. But if it were that easy just to push out content that everyone loves and still be able to make money, we wouldn’t have so much crap all over the market, would we? At the end of the day, games need funding and thus have investors. And those investors expect to be kept happy. :-\
Yes, GW2 is completely different from the manifesto. There are a handful of apologists on here that have to reach grandly to find ways to say that it isn’t, but the illusion they try to create is hardly convincing. That said… I doubt anyone was as hurt by that difference as much as the devs. Game making isn’t all fun and playing. There is a business side to it, and even the devs themselves are slaves to it.
You might want this moved to suggestions. There really is more they can do to the TP, but I wonder why it isn’t done.
This has been suggested multiple times, and appears to just be ignored… so rather than this being a suggestion, it’s more of a question as to WHY it’s being ignored. What is it about the feature that is turning Anet off from wanting to implement it. There was to be a logical reason, I just can’t figure it out lol
The game has been out for what… 10 months, right? It seems silly to me that in all this time, such an expected and relatively common feature in MMOs that have an auction house is missing.
Say you want to preview the various heavy armor leggings that exist in the game and see how they look on your character- you do a search for armor -> leggings… and that’s it. No “heavy”, “light” or “medium” selection. Instead, you sift through EVERY legging of EVERY type, manually checking each one to see “is this heavy?” That, to me, is extremely silly.
I’m honestly curious what the reasoning behind not implementing this is. It’s not like it is a feature that never gets requested, and compared to some of the other quality of life additions to the game it doesn’t seem (from a programmer’s perspective, anyhow) that it would be nearly as difficult to add in… so what’s up? Is there some sort of exploit Anet wants to avoid by not putting this in or something?
I’m honestly curious here.
Picking up turrets is no longer possible and one of the turret traits now give a 20% cooldown reduction in using turrets.
Huh? I just tested this with rifle and flame turret and picked them up just fine. It reduced the cooldown as I expected it to.
What does this line mean?
Increasing the level cap killed Rift for me.
I was a huge fan of Rift. I was a hardcore raider with 4 max level toons (all tank and healer classes). I had a guild that I regularly ran with, players that I regularly spoke with and helped run groups with, etc. I didn’t have as much play time as them, but it didn’t matter since raiding itself doesn’t require a crapton of time if that is all you do, and it fit into my schedule.
Then came the expansion.
My raiding guild played far more than I did, and so they reached max level much more quickly than I did. Because of how far behind I was (taking weeks, if not months, to achieve max level when they achieved it in days), they were forced to start raiding without me if they wanted to remain competitive. Here I was, logging in the same amount of time I had always logged in, but I was INCAPABLE of playing with guild. While they raided and had fun, I grinded out the levels in the new zones.
After that I simply lost interest in the game. The entire dynamic that I had become accustomed to was turned upside down. I came to GW2 to stay.
Now, an increased level won’t affect me in the same way here because of the lack of raids, but it still would affect me. It would create a disparity in the levels of myself and my friends when no disparity is necessary. Right now, if one needs help with something, I can go help him. I’m max level and there is nowhere I can’t go safely. But if levels are increased? Well, I’d have to outlevel them to be able to continue to help, since if they are 89 and I’m 83 I won’t be of much use to them in their zones :-\
I see no point in adding levels to a game. IMO it does far more harm than good.
Wow. Black Lion Trader must be doing better than I thought, if they are willing to forgo the expansions. The expansions were a major money maker for GW1, and I would have assumed would be just as big of one here in this game.
I’m actually curious how that will work out. I have no ill feelings towards the idea, and in fact find it kind of exciting.
Some of the content I can understand being temporary, what was the point in making sickle, axe and mining pick temporary content on BLT? I mean, those items would probably continue to bring in money for you as more players join the game and as those who were playing find themselves in better financial situations to purchase them.
It just struck me as… odd.
I would love to know the reasoning that gets put into why things are temporary and why they aren’t.
I’m just annoyed that only a handful of classes get the 25% movement speed increase… My engineer runs so slow in comparison.
The rumor is that Anet will not be releasing any more stat-based vertical progression items, but instead return to the fully skill-based 100% horizontal progression game GW2 was marketed as for years. So it looks like the ascended trinkets items will be will be Anet’s stop point in the failed experiment of trying to please the WoW teenagers. And I’ve also heard that there is a massive number of beautiful new armor and weapon skins being designed by Anet, with a myriad of paths to attain them (laurels, dungeons, gem store, karma, crafting ect…). Of course your laurels will not be wasted, because they will be one of the methods of attaining the beautiful new skins and multiple sets of exotic gear so you can use many different builds for your character.
;-)
Best new I’ve heard all year.
<3 you Arenanet. It’s rare for a company to be able to say “Welp, that didn’t work the way we thought it would. Won’t do that again”. That puts Anet back on my “favorite companies ever” list =D
Monthly is fine just like it is. 12-20 hours is sufficient for a monthly achievement. Yea, you could design it so that I have to use every minute of my 2 hours per day playing to get the Monthly, but then I would never get to do anything else would I? The monthly isn’t designed to be the ONLY thing you do.
I bet all the furniture will be ONLY available from gem store, pass no thanks, brah. Never raided in any game so i’ll try that and hopefully it’ll be fun for more than 2-3 runs.
I wouldnt mind if the furniture was only avial in gem store. cosmetic, gemstore..as it should be.
what I dont want are gates to content. They’ve walked a fine line thus far, and wavered a bit with guild missions. Lets see how they do with this.
Make or break for me.
Would’ve been much better if all the furniture/trophies and whatever you’ll be decorating your house with would drop/come from dungeon chests. I really enjoyed this in PSU and no way in hell im exchanging gold for gems at these absolutely stupid prices (its what? 30gems for 1g? wtf…). At the end, if furniture is only available in the gem store i will ignore it completely.
Heh, if it was available only in dungeons I would ignore it completely.
Seems that no matter what they do, someone will ignore them completely.
