Just ignore the blood magic line, everyone else does, including ANet.
Game is balanced around PvP, hence it kittens everything else. If, as any other class, you want balanced gameplay I suggest you play PvP otherwise just learn to live with it as I have had to.
Sadly I hate PvP, so my (non-condi) necro will most likely be one of your next victims.
I honestly was hoping that the changes would make me want to play a vampire build. However, I may as well go cookie-cutter condi-mancer. Even if I lose out on the minimal healing it offers my dps is much stronger so things die much quicker. Until anet decides to make our siphoning less of a joke and more of a viable option, IMO the 20% increase in transfusion will just sit as unused as every other blood magic trait.
ANet here’s a clue for you, support on a necro, won’t get us invited to more parties than we were invited to before. Fix the condi stack limit, make condi damage affect structures, make us the attrition class you promised! Tweaking the numbers so we are left back where we started may look good to the marketing team, but it censored to an actual necro playing gamer.

15 teeeemoesssssssssss
Working as intended.
They just forgot to move chaos storm to the warrior is all.
Well the necro vampire buffs have got me finally building a viable vampire…
/sarcasm
Seriously, I’m just gonna make a condi-mancer like everyone else and be done with it. The odds of getting a true attrition mechanism at this point is beyond astronomical. I would just play another class like a warror as they never seem to get nerfed, but after 2200 hours and many hundreds of gold I may as well just conform. May as well rename the game to clone wars at this point.
The Halloween stuff as always is fun, but I do believe they have nerfed the drops in the labyrinth majorly since last year.
And isn’t it nice that you can choose how you like to play…
“I” don’t think it is subpar in the least, and if you read the topic title then at least one other player agrees with me. But as I said if some other build works for you then by all means use it, you are not going to change my mind on mine. Have a nice day.
To each their own m8, I for one can’t see myself running in a zerg without it. If you are happy using wells then who am I or anyone else to tell you differently; have fun with it.
Blast finish the poison field with your staff (4) for aoe weakness, say bye bye to enemies in wvw. The poison being used as a combo field is where this utility shines. A well timed and placed CPC has turned the tide in many an open field showdown.
I think you misunderstood him abit, when he said “eating” he meant taking the damage w/o attempting to mitigating it. Not consume conditions (Which should be noted). -Cond durations can fix this concern though. …snip
Exactly. By “eat” I was using a term of non-mitigation; hence “taking” the damage. And as a necro we have many ways of removing and/or transferring conditions placed upon us or self inflicted. Being stuck with a condition means that you should possibly rethink your build. As for me not only do I use the dagger 4 and staff 4 as mentioned, my axe (main hand) has a superior sigil or generosity. I love facing heavily using condi classes, and watching them squirm as I throw it back at em!
(edited by Tommyknocker.6089)
I like CPC in general and I find it very useful for countering Warriors.
The only thing I hate is the self weakness.
With all of the conditions flying around normally in combat I have a dislike for any type of self inflicted damage.
CPC… dagger (4), or staff (4) blast works for me. As a necro if you are eating the self weakness, poison, bleeds, vuln for any length of time you’re doing it wrong.
WOW Josh, very concise and well said, BRAVO.
Some of your problems would be fixed with the following actions.
Most dungeons and zones are empty because of no worthwhile loot.
Every mob on every zone drops same type of loot, so people find the best zone with most farmable mobs and just stick to it until a better one comes along.Anet needs to improve the loot table and give good looking armor/weapons that drop from specific dungeons and zones, hence spreading out the playerbase and making every bit of content used.
Do not get me wrong though, i am saying they need to add good looking SKINS to different dungeons and zones as low chance drops. Skins that have no stats to them(or make them exotic stats as ascended would be too low drop chance)
There you go, a huge world with many different places worth a visit if you want your character to look cool
Actually I feel the loot tables have improved significantly over the last couple months. My problem with the current game is the ramping up of difficulty, I like a challenge occasionally, but not when it becomes a full time job.
I only do the story dungeons; why? Because they are easier, are a nice casual fun time, don’t have elitists running the show, and you can find a much friendlier party 99% of the time. I used to do the explorables, but as they have been slowly taken over by the speed runners, I no longer bother. I don’t measure the fun I am having by how fast I can find shinies, hence I don’t do the champ farms either. IMO loot is fine, ANet just needs to return us to the days when co-operation and not harder content was the moto of the game.
I have to disagree with the OP. If you can damage other wooden objects in the game you should be able damage gates. However I feel that there NEEDS to be a defense option for those that are in the tower/keep. Seeing as we have siege might, and the various masteries, the counter to his should also be implemented in the form of tower/keep wall/door strength. For every point the player(s) but into this mastery the walls/gates become stronger by a percentage when repaired depending on rank. Also while they remain within (or visit in the case of an attack) the structure it should be given a bonus against attacks seeing as the ranks would show they know what to shore up when needed even without supply. This has been implemented already in the form of structural damage being applied by rams and as a counter could work and give players a way to defend that they don’t have currently.
Wow….. even your misses crit. CRITICAL MISS!!!
Critical Fail actually. When that happens you trip and stab yourself in the eye.
No seriously, look up Critical Fail tables for D&D and the like. A really bad one and you fail so badly with a dagger swing you KILL YOURSELF.
Double 0’s (on two 10 siders) after a fumble (1 on a 20 sider), seen some really gruesome results; funny as kitten, but still gruesome.
humans have a racial skill called reaper of grenth that surrounds them in a dark shroud and causes poison and chill in an aoe around them.
i feel that this should be a necro ability that you can trait for to modify your deathshroud.
THIS!! I would love to see an ability that grows stronger the longer we remain in battle. No need for it to be ranged, but if it started off small and then grew to be more deadly, it would define what a true attrition class would be.
We are always talking about and working on the areas you mentioned so it will absolutely be listened to. These areas are key to how we build Living Worlds moving forward.
Chris
Ok I’ll bite. Can we get some REAL living stories with actual consequences? Nothing we do in the world has ever changed the world landscape in any significant way. We may as well be furniture or bystanders. You need to make the world changing events be actually world changing! If we fail at something we need to feel we lost, babysitting the players though all the events giving just slightly less karma and xps when we fail is just far to kindergarten. I play the game to relax and even though I never did some of the tougher content, I honestly like banding together with others to defeat the enemy (no matter what they may be) to feel like the hero. Give us earthquakes, floods, avalanches or invasions, BUT make them have an effect on us the players and the world around us, if you want us to feel a part of your world, you need to make us “remember when”.
I think it would be a great idea myself. It could, with the proper peppering of dev posts, help to alleviate some of the anxiety of the GW2 community.
Gonna cut you some slack on this. The only reason I bemoan the game so is due to the fact that I see in it so much wasted potential. If you are in fact ready to start listening to your customers more than the balance pass is one way of showing us you listen.
I cannot speak for other classes as I do not play them on a regular basis, BUT it has become quite clear that you don’t listen to what the necromancer community has been saying since launch. We want/wanted cleave on a weapon, we got fire (not fitting the lore btw)?!?. We wanted the ability to disengage and you gave us a ds nerf!?! To be fair you also improved our DS pool, but you took away our only major form of mitigation making us useless in most PvE settings. You stated quite the while ago that you wanted to make us the “true” attrition class, but you make us into condi-mancers instead!?! Please figure out what our true role is to be because this flip flopping has forced me to craft celestial armor with divinity runes for no other reason that to “suit” whatever may come next.
/rant… just please be more forthright from this point on

Sadly I’ll never know, I already picked what was behind door number 2.
1) Healing ability (regen at least) that bleeds through DS.
2) Cleave on ANY MELEE WEAPON.
3) TRUE attrition. Ever fought a bunker guardian and decided it would take to much time to kill so why even bother? I WANT THIS.
4) Some new death themed legendary skins (all weapons) would be nice.
5) Uniqueness. Once I tell another player I main a necro, why do they always assume i am a condi? Oh right, that is because it is the most useful build (outside of pve). Please make other builds more viable.
6) An elite that lets me escape for roaming… Why must I be forced into being a norn in order to have a VERY long cooldown escape in WvW?
Or maybe I am just the Mad Queen * female Mad King laugh *
Sorry, but “Mad Queen Meriem” doesn’t hold a candle to the infamous Mad Queen Malafide.
Sorry but I existed before GW 1 was even thought of. If you mean infamous as in a poor copy cat sure!
Please don’t. The last three updates left almost nothing for me to enjoy, don’t take away my ability to just sit back and play the game. I don’t want to constantly dodge, block and evade my way though a festival too.
He was stupid easy though… you could literally just auto attack to death and heal. He could be a lot more epic and they can give him 2 modes!
Then give him a dot that if you don’t keep moving you take damage. I always move while attacking anyways; could never see the point in standing in one place as I may as well go for coffee. But overall DON’T make him another teq, I play this game to relax not to be given lessons from “The Art of War”.
High survivability, excellent damage, wanted in groups all the time. Really no cons
Possibly the most balanced profession to be honest. The love they receive would make a prostitute envious.
I’m starting to think that in order to get the attrition “love” some of us necros wanted we will have to get some guardian tonics and hope we fool the devs.
Ranger
Sick ‘Em will now apply ‘Revealed” to enemies they target. We want to introduce some counter play to Stealth (players have asked for that for a while), so we thought a pet “catching your scent” might be a cool way to insinuate some anti-stealth into the game. You cannot introduce anti stealth for just one class !
how about 2 classes, imo engineers are much better suited for stealth detection, hello ! they use technology, which makes more sense than a stupid pet having stealth detection
Necros could also be given a detect living ability. After all they are used to dealing with the dead, they should be able to sense when life is present.
Please don’t. The last three updates left almost nothing for me to enjoy, don’t take away my ability to just sit back and play the game. I don’t want to constantly dodge, block and evade my way though a festival too.
It all depends on how effectively you can use all the stats provided. DD ele for instance is forced to use condition and power damage, so makes use of all the stats in that respect, as well as the healing power in most builds from the water tree. Hybrid guardian could work as well, but they make even less use of the condition stats.
My hope is that next patch for necro will buff up siphon scaling enough to make it viable for that class, which it current isn’t at all.
AMEN brother! I main a necro that wears celestial and divinity runes, and with a full out power/trinkets build I can DS for fairly high (crit) numbers. My only problem with this armor is the inability to utilize the healing element; something I hope we see changed on the 15th.
The only other reason I use this armor is due to the fact that I like to try new builds. Not like we have much of a choice the way we keep being re-assigned into what the necro is (condi fire YUK), so for me it is a win/win with just having to switch out trinkets in order to get the build the way I like it. Needless to say I gave up on alts as they would cost me a years time in laurels just to equip them for a few builds.
I second this. Along with some pants for the light armor users! I don’t care for all those skirts..
Especially when you’re playing a male sylvari!
They missed the mark on the last update. They increased the drops but didn’t reduce the difficulty. Now before I get flamed when saying they needed to reduce the difficulty by those that feel he is fine let me go on. When it is only do-able by those co-ordinated to do the task it should be placed in it’s own instance (hence the TTS guild looking for it’s own overflow) then it is NOT for the open world. Better rewards are nice, but this content either belongs in it’s own instance (raid) or needs to be more pug friendly or it will continue to be out of reach for the majority of the open world pve player base. I will add that if all the world bosses receive the same treatment, then I don’t expect many will bother with dragon timers.
In all honesty jormag, golem MK II are what open world content should be. Yes they could still use some tweaking (no safe spots for the golem etc), but as we can see players continue to do them.
Best (great to good)
1) The mad king.. the atmosphere was truly spooky.
2) WvW rank and siege additions.
3) Bazaar (I hate jumping puzzles but even I liked these due to the skills you got).
4) Wintersday.. too repetitive, but still good.
5) Cutthroat politics, although not implemented well (voting for both to get the APs) not a bad update.
Worse (bad to terribad)
1) SAB both releases, if I wanted donkey kong or mario I would have bought them!
2) Karka queen event, I happen to work and missed the entire thing.. hence no chance at a per-cursor.
3) Taco, more one hit mechanics are NOT wanted, also this was not open world content.
4) Champ zerging (nuff said)
5) The necro update that added burning!?! (I just wanted to be a kitten vampire)
Special note: I didn’t include dungeons because I don’t (or rarely) do them. I have a hard enough time avoiding the tells and circles (when they are noticeable), without having to be forced into a tight environment while doing so.

Or you don’t get affected by supply traps.
This would be nice, but I feel a bit op. I would prefer 1/2 normal supply removal at rank 4 and 1/4 at 5th rank. So you could actually stand in a treb poison cloud that does supply removal and not have it hurt quite so much. For the cost of this particular trait line, it does seem far to expensive as it is.
We need a more defined language to determine what your looking for in LFG.
How about:
1. We are Elitist: Don’t join unless you solo’d the new Tequatl
2. Experienced only: We’re slightly below 1 (but not by much)
3. Pretty experienced folks: We’re kinda cool and don’t mind a few wipes
4. New to explorer mode: You might want to bring some drinks
5. New to story mode: You definitely want to bring some drinks
6. We’ve been smoking pot all day: Wipes…who cares mon!
And therein lies the problem. The grey area between “I AM A GOD” and casual is far to vague. I for one never join an “experienced only” group although it may contain a whole party of fun-loving fellows out to have a good time but all know their class well, hence experienced. If you join a “casual” only run you could be faced with total newbies that although meaning well are just terrible; btw i would prefer the latter to the elite jerks out there with the 6k+ AP requirement.
I usually make my own groups that just state “please know your class, fun run”, then I can rule out the elitist; lord knows they are not there for fun and only the $$ interest them. And asking players to know their class, will occasionally, lure in someone that isn’t very good, but if they are trying I’m fine with them.
If it is my first time I will try to join into a non “experienced only” pre-made group. Upon entering I will just ask if it is alright that I have never done this path before. Most times 90% they will say it is fine so long as I can follow directions.
The heavy armour looks pretty awesome
The heavy is, minus the “box for a head” helm, the best of three. Medium is meh, but with decent dyes could look alright. The light however NEEDS a rework. Why must all the light armor look so kitten feminine on males? I would kill for that set of heavy as a light design just so as to look at least a bit bad kitten . I don’t care if it glows a neon black during the daytime, I’ll transmute these in a heartbeat!
ANet you may want to release the light armor along with a 50% sale of the transmutation crystals, just to show 100% transparency in your motives.
Go zerg or go home!
Seriously ANet do SOMETHING, ANYTHING for those of us that like to defend and you will make many people happy. And no PPT means nothing when you make the zerging the only rewarding content. With this patch you have officially created a new game, that of flip wars 2… sad really.
The WXP drops are there to encourage killing people, not just PvDoor. If you’re defending then you should get more WXP than before with these drops.
Yes you will get more wxp than before, but most players will much rather zerg for the simple fact than running into a roaming party of 5 while zerging will net you much more than sitting on an ac bored for an hour; most small parties won’t bother with towers/keeps. The PvDoor argument won’t hold water for the simple fact that the door may not give loot but the lord does, something else you never get as a defender, so even more reason to zerg.
Find a zerg busting guild then. If this game Didn’t have zergs, WvW would be boring. At first it sucked because you didn’t stand a chance without equal numbers, but now there is a guild on almost every server that can handle 2-3 times their numbers without much trouble, IF it is a pug zerg.
I’m not trying to shut down the zergs, kitten, I will most likely spend most of my time in one now. What I am asking for is a fairness towards defenders. If zerking a keep gets you dragonite, why not give a chest with a few chunks for a successful defense of one? I realize that this could be exploited in many ways, but with a few restriction in place IMO it would be worth it in order to even out the playing field and return the spirit of the game.

OK I realize that the game needs gold sinks, and at the pace you have been giving out loot it is little wonder you want to deflate the economy some. BUT when it costs me <4 silver to re-trait in LA as opposed to the convenience (highway robbery) of 4 gold apx. to re-trait on the fly is ludicrous.
Seriously, I would pay 200-400 gems for the ability to re-trait anytime anywhere permanently, even though I would never re-trait that many times in my lifetime, but not for these, sorry. LA is just one “b” click away.

Devil’s advocate time. The pinatas did have a bug in that when you hit them within seconds of another hitting them you would receive no candy. IIRC they patched it within a few days but it was not bug free even for simple content.
I should have really start to use /s.
I think he knew.
He did.
What quality content have we been given? Honestly I can’t think of anything of quality other than Tequatl, FotM, or the wallet that we’ve been given as a result of living story. I’d much rather see updates less frequent if it means higher quality.

Don’t run with food or stones/oil. And I don’t have a back item. Devon said it was supposed to be unbalanced so I just want to feel like the other team has the Bloodlust Buff even when they don’t.
Thanks for the bags.
I like the pace, but that is mostly due to the fact that I’m not an achievement point junky. I have skipped sab and a few other updates because they didn’t match my play style hence no ap’s for them. If I do see something I like though I’m all over it and it don’t feel like a full time job; then again I never cared to compete with others over arbitrary goals, just to have “fun”.
Dragon buns and sharpening stones for my power necro. I find they can’t kill you as easily when they are dead.
Doubt rolling a new character will net you these styles. Though you are right. You will get a change. Just probably not the one you were hoping from if it’s in this new palette.
All in jest m8 :-). Touche’
Every time I read one of these top # reviews I cannot help but wonder just how much real $$$ the games at the top of the list paid for that position. It may be a jaded way of looking at things, but life has taught me honestly and pride are usually overruled by greed and ego.
How to get a free new hairstyle:
Delete main (or one of your other characters) after backing up any non-soulbound items.
Create a new character of the race in which you would like the new hairstyle.
Explore the game again and on a brand new level 2 character (20 with booster).
Disclamer: The poster holds no responsibility to lost time, levels, and/or items; please enjoy your new look.
Although they are removing this path from TA, who’s to say they won’t add it into fotm. I’m sure they won’t be deleting it entirely and afterall the F/U path would make a lovely addition to the fotm dungeon. It most likely won’t add tokens, but with the proper editing it could come to life once more and after all didn’t the player base ask for more mini dungeons be added to the fotm?
Not saying this is what will be done, but I can see it being a possibility if the fans voice their preference for it.
What I´m really afraid of is that Anet brings out this patch which is supposed to give as build diversity (but it won´t because a few changes here and there won´t fix such things as the berserker PvE meta) and then leave it again for the next few months.
I’m willing to give them a chance, at least they seem to be open this time to what certain classes have been asking for; necro life siphon for an example. We still have topic upon topic of how we would like a cleaving weapon for the necro, but so long as they are listening to us and reading threads such as these, we are much better off.
Yes the PvE meta is slanted towards the zerger warrior and deeps is king, but maybe with this new openness they will at least try other avenues to make other builds more viable and, maybe someday, even wanted for most dungeon groups.
I can see the promo now:
NOW in the gem store a sapphire transmutation stone, this little item will allow soulbound items to become account bound once more! With a small timer so as to allow the player the ability to finalize his/her choice…
Yours today for only 799 gems a piece!
Get em while they’re hot!!

Hey all!
We wanted to ‘spoiler’ a couple of patch notes early, so here they are: …snipTransfusion: This trait now scales with healing power at a 20% rate, where it didn’t previously scale.
snip…
It’s a good start. Unless I’m running in a zerg though, hardly worth the points. Now if you tell me that the other vampiric traits were also buffed by a good amount then you have just made me one happy necro.
Thing is Anet, when you gave us an OP condi build/meta, you took away all desire for most necros to even consider another build. Becoming a turtle (attrition) is the soul domain of the guard currently and I cannot see a aoe heal “to others” but not to yourself helping much at all.
I find it quite funny though that the only class I saw the devs using in a livestream is the guard, little wonder though, if I saw a necro dev in there I would most likely have a heart attack.
(edited by Tommyknocker.6089)
One thing I would urge all people that have given up on the encounter to do is stop going there, to make it easier for the people that are still motivated to form up together.
No worries there, if some players want to bang their heads against a wall for 15 minutes the .00001 % chance at one of his weapons, you have my blessing.
I’ll sit it out because as far as I’m concerned this event was not PVE OPEN WORLD content. I’ll be farming champs; they are actually worth the time spent.
I remember when I got an exotic every day, before the drop rate was adjusted. This was back in December too. I had like 100 of them before the rate was adjusted…which sadly also seemed to inflate the economy market so everything is more expensive. I remember back when 1G = 100 Gems.
I remember the first day of the scarlet event (zerg).
I got 3 exotics on that day, now I’m lucky to get a rare; lately I feel more like a ginnie pig than a customer?
