Guess it is time I came back to try out the tracks and other changes. It would be nice to be able to show your rank to everyone in WvW, but I’ll settle.

Thanks guys!

[REQUEST] Disable */^/PvP icons on players

100% in agreement here. And I have them turned off in options, but I can still see them whenever I hover over players names also this makes picking out other players difficult. If these are an advert then for the love of Grenth, let us choose to turn them off in our options. If it is a bug, please fix it asap, as I am getting sick of doing my daily only and logging.

Many, including some of my few remaining guildies cannot see why I am upset at this so I will make it clear here.

I spend over 7k hours in game with 90% of that being in WvW. I have a high rank, but cannot even show it off in WvW unless in a squad (and that was only added as an afterthought IMO). Now along comes their precious e-sports tournament and suddenly I can see a flood of these league icons everywhere I turn, in both WvW and PvE. It may seem like sour grapes to many of the PvP crowd, but imagine if I could wander around in a PvP match with my platinum general rank icon displayed for everyone to see and maybe you will start to see the picture. It would mean as much there as your icon means in PvE or WvW BTW. All these icons prove to me is that I am no longer part of their business model and the three separate game modes we once had are only there to accommodate the one now. The worst insult is that they never even ended with the end of the tournament!

edit: replied twice to same topic, but this one better explains my problem with them.

edit 2: this really should be moved to general discussion as even though It discusses the PvP icons it pertains to the other areas of the game more IMO. Not being moved kinda proves my point though…

Anet, you need a test server/PTR

league has a ptr and look where it is in terms of esports,
wow has a ptr and look how long that games was hailed as the king of mmos
eve has a ptr and look how well balanced/ awesome that game is ( i do play it, i also play this because you cant smash dragons with a hammer in eve )

the majority of the problem seems to be the lack of willingness to collaborate with players on balance issues. Having a PTR would help that significantly

I have been with the game for 3 years and in that time they have implemented quite the few changes I personally liked. That being said I believe that if they had a PTR many of the problems they currently are suffering from would have been brought to the fore much quicker. Addressing these problems earlier is to the benefit of everyone BTW!

I firmly believe at this point we are just to be good little boys and girls. Eating what is handed to us without question, and that to me sounds like someone in power is unwilling to open their work and minds to criticism. Mind you I have also been posting on these forums for equally as long so I cannot say I am surprised.

I don’t hate the game, and I still do my dailies (sometimes) in hopes they can see the folly of their ways someday. I am VERY disappointed that they basically put the core player base on the road in front of a speeding bus.

I am not talking timers, although they really suck, I am not talking challenging content, as we needed some things to be more challenging IMO. I am talking about having an Xpac that focused to heavily upon certain player types. These are the platform gamers that enjoy jumping puzzles and the hardcore raiders. The esports crowd gets a mention here too as ANet no longer separates the 3 distinct game modes (league icons).

In short, no, I don’t hate the game, but at this point I am wishing I did not waste over 7k hours in a game where I felt I was now being thrown under said bus!

…snip
Imagine how many players they could draw in if they took the PvP prize pool and just gave it out to random players for playing the game in $5-10K increments? Not only would more players benefit, because it would be spread more thinly, but more players would be engaged enough to chase it, since any player could potentially get it, as opposed to PvP tournaments where 99.9% of players know that they have absolutely no shot at that prize (or at least should).

Unfortunately that is the whole point behind esports currently. ANet no longer wants to reward you if you are not one of the 1%, at least that is how I see it. I used to think the game had 3 completely separate yet fun areas that you could enjoy if you liked that kind of content, but now I feel there are only 2 left. And sadly one of them is encroaching on the others now.

Why this was moved to PvP section is beyond me, but it does show there is bias IMO. This discussion was posted for everyone to give their opinion, but when posted into this area it only gets feedback from one side of the player base (the most favorable).

Can we please get an option to turn off those PvP icons in PvE and WvW? I know you want them for advertisement purposes, but I find them annoying in areas they have no purpose. Also they are a constant reminder that I am no longer your target audience seeing as I cannot show my WvW ranks in PvE. Why should I be forced to see these even after your post leagues patch?

I have already turned off names to the detriment of not seeing my fellow guildies names, but I can still see the icons when I hover over a player.

Edit: I will comment on the other areas of the patch when I am doing more than just my daily.

Edit to add: I complain because I have seen ANet at it’s best and I simply wished it to continue on that path. Their current dedication to esperts and verticallity have made me a bit upset at them. [Suggestion] Steal supply by Stomping

in WvW

Posted by: Tommyknocker.6089

Tommyknocker.6089

I would be good with it so long as the player that does the most damage gets the supply and not just the guy stomping (or lack thereof). You could also make it a percentage chance of supply up to maximum carried by the player similar to killing a dolyak. As runeblade has stated above though we don’t want grieving between players on the same side.

Otherwise a good idea IMO, to bad you don’t work for ANet.

Want the old maps back?[186 Signs]

in WvW

Posted by: Tommyknocker.6089

Tommyknocker.6089

I don’t think it would matter at this point anyways as most of my fighting guild died along with the stab changes and the constant disregard to the game mode.

I find myself playing other games myself simply because they decided to give up on WvW. I guess if you believe the water cooler chit chat they are working on a redo, but over the last year(s) it has become clear to me that they have no clue whatsoever on what WvW is.

To address the OP though I believe the ship has sailed on getting the old maps back. But I would say yes so that those that have not experienced them get a chance to see what fighting players and not the map was like at one time.

Pretty much a non event. Ok Banners and airstrike getting the nerf they deserve, but they really shouldn’t exist in the first place. And not one friggin word about the almighty overhaul…. ded gaem.

Most likely we will see a small open guild event a few days before the final release similar to the one they gave for the new BL maps. They won’t change anything, or even have time to. Even though many won’t like the changes they will advertise it everywhere as if is the best thing since sliced bread. So yea, nothing to see here.

P.S. I would love to be pleasantly surprised but after 3 years of the devs thinking they know what we want, I am not hopeful.

I left WvW once I was able to see the league ranks on all the players and still could not show off my rank unless in a squad, and that was added later. It was bad enough that my hard earned ranks in “real” WvW meant nothing once they introduced the EotM, but this was the last straw.

Maybe once they start treating WvW as a “REAL” part of the game I may come back. I still read the forums and do my dailies when I can find time, but the only time you will see me in WvW now is when my dialy includes “big spender”.

I am, yet again, truly hoping that BnS and BDO can cater to the more hardcore players and can entice those that like that kind of thing away from GW2. Unfortunately it did not happen with Wildstar and I had high hopes there too.

My hope is that someday, something, might lure them away from GW2 and maybe then we can say goodbye to esports while making verticallity optional again. It may be a pipe dream, but until ANet starts showing some semblance to the game I fell in love with in 2012, I will just continue to do my daily and log out; for now.

Edit: oh yea forgot.. kill the kitten timers on EVERYTHING, thank you!

So just to check, by your own admission you aren’t really playing the game much and you want GW2 to lose its dedicated players to another game.. Wow you sound like the perfect person for Anet to listen to..

The Raid is fun and I hope they continue to produce interesting bosses, the new maps are well deisgned and I hope they continue to produce good work.

If the “new” dedicated players are the same ones that made ANet change from their 2012 roots to their current mindset, then kitten YES!

And it will mean that I, and hopefull a few of my guildies, come back on a more full time basis. I honestly don’t care at this point if they listen to me or not, if they continue on with the esports garbage, I will just find a new game eventually anyways.

Also nowhere did I say anything about the raid, it may be fun and someday I might even try it. For now though I would just like to see the return of the living world pre season 2.

It’s not as complicated as you make it seem. If you are bored and you think the game is time-consuming and don’t think there is anything left; the question isn’t what’s left, the question is why are you still here.

Good community attitude you have there. If the going gets boring, the bored should just leave? I for one am hoping they put the reins on adding “new” systems and try to get back to their roots myself.

I may actually start playing more often once I know what their road map entails.

This has nothing to do with community attitude … that’s nonsense. Why convince someone they should play if they don’t enjoy the game?

Disregard m8, I was unsure if this was even posted as the forum was acting wonky for me yesterday. I actually left the page and came back and that post never showed up for me so I figured it was not posted. My anger is with ANet anyways and I should have not lashed out on anyone, sorry.

Allow extra Gem Store tools sold on TP

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Tommyknocker.6089

Tommyknocker.6089

If money was a problem then why did you buy extra salvage o matics to begin with. You still only needed one and could just swap it out at the bank.

The original refund for harvesting tools was granted because now you only needed to buy one and swap it out between characters using the bank option where the prior form required you to purchase one for each character and the change made that redundant.

Right. No longer talking about the refund.

Simply asking for us to be able to sell them on the Trading Post and let new players make use of the tools we no longer need.

Never going to happen simply because it takes a possible gem store sale away from ANet. The best we can hope for IMO is a way to use them in the mystic forge to “exchange” them for something else which takes nothing away from ANet’s bottom line.

I know their vision of WvW is far different than our own, but so long as they remain quiet on all the “proposed” changes and keep us in the dark without our input, the less likely that we will enjoy what we are fed.

I just want to be a part of the discussion myself (another CDI?), even if all my suggestions might be considered garbage by other posters, at very least I would feel heard.

Edit: I see you said Bank Licenses, not tabs. my apologies. My point just above still stands; don’t use the account-bound slots for the bank licenses. You have the capability now to access your bank from any character AND have 5 account-bound slots. They don’t even sell the bank access stuff anymore and I’d like to have even one.

I have 60 character. Make more sense if I use 1 of the 5 slot for a permanent bank license.

As much as I like how convenient it was before. I wouldn’t bought 9 of if I knew they going to do something like this. I would just go to the bank more and pick up license and deposit the license when I want to switch character.

60 characters? You won’t get a rebate unless they were purchased very recently, but you deserve a monument.

People that are playing your game = possible cash.

The more timegates they stick in the game the longer players have to stay/return to your game.

Not rocket science, but it is greed, pure and simple.

Edit: clarity

This is correct but it’s called capitalism not greed. That is the societal structure that we live in, you really need to learn to deal with it.

There are degrees. If a company offers a good product and good service, I am inclined to gladly purchase more of their product out of loyalty. If a company forces it’s will upon me I am more likely just going to turn my back on said practices.

Hopefully over time they learn the folly of their ways as many others come to that self same realization. If not there is no skin off my backside as it sits I refuse to deal with many companies now and one more won’t bother me in the least if practices like this become the norm.

But “you” one person, doesn’t matter. If six guys are like you and a thousand guys will log in for the time gate, you lose. Because that’s also capitalism.

Even the good game line is not really well thought out because everyone finds different things in games enjoyable. If they make a good game for me it might be a bad game for you. People want different things.

So this make a good game…good game for who? That’s why time gates exist in game. More people will log in to do it, no matter what players who hate this sort of thing do.

Seems like far to many words to say “we all all different people”, and I learned that as a baby. I am happy for those that enjoy it, I really am, but I (inclusive) would rather they not time gate everything. As this has become the practice in about 90% of online games, my voice may as well be in an echo chamber at this point.

But If it is allowed, your highness, I am still going to use it, thanks.

Requesting Feature: Private Commander Tag

in WvW

Posted by: Tommyknocker.6089

Tommyknocker.6089

We’ve avoided adding this feature because we don’t believe it would be healthy for WvW. While we can appreciate why some players would want a feature like this, lots of other players only engage in WvW when, upon entering a WvW map, immediately see a commander icon to follow. We try and avoid adding features that can be used to intentionally exclude other players.

Some players? I have not talked to a commander yet that didn’t want this feature available when needed. So we will have to continue to target the commander instead of using the mark target function as it was intended?

I am not so sure you have ever run with a guild group. Most times we want to have our own objectives and that does not include having 20 rally bots following you around.

If this seems a bit harsh consider that many of us join a guild for a specific purpose. Be it fights, roaming, small scale GvG etc, and even if you don’t give us the ability to follow a guild tag we will continue to just mark our commander. Public tagging is something we don’t normally do so it is not as if you are fixing anything by forcing us to use a public tag.

What we ask for is a QOL for WvW guilds, and not to always exclude others, as there are many players that public tag. Maybe if you guys played more WvW instead of telling us what is good for us then you might just see that!

Edit: thanks for being brave enough to talk to us!

To be honest I’m pretty sick of a paid for game being micro managed and gouging of players like a free to play game is. You shouldn’t have to use a gem shop item to change a look once its in your wardrobe and for 700 gems you should be able to share all your harvesting tools among your other avatars. What they are doing is a shameless milking of the player base….NCsoft needs to jump back.

IMO it is a combination of going F2P and a gold <> gems conversion included in the base game. Adding in both makes anyone that does not mind grinding (no lifers) just convert gold to gems and not ever spend a dime. This also has a side effect of making the game more and more grindy (10000 drinks) so that even the most die hard grinders still have to drain the bank to get said items if they want them. I would honestly like to see the 2016 devs have a sit down with the 2012 devs at this point as the greed seems to have gotten out of hand.

The entire picture looks to me to just be a way to keep everyone poor and ANet should never have gone this route, again IMO.

Hello,
I have an easy solution for the refund problem:

Step 1:
Place a vendor of the BLTC in LA that gives you a number of a special Item for unwanted BLTC Items.
Let’s call this Item: Evon’s appreciation Token
#tokens = round down (Gem Cost / 100)
Every Item under 100 Gems Cost would be a 0
For a Copper Fed Salvage-o-matic You would get 8 Tokens
For a Watchwork Mining pick you would get 10 tokens

Step 2:
Set up Mystic Forge recipe’s that give us useful things for the tokens:
Item 1: Specific Item that will decide the Outcome
Item2: # of Evon’s appreciation Token
Item3: 10 Mystic Forge Stone
Item4: 10 Mystic Crystal

Examples:
Watchwork Mining Pick:
250 Watchwork Sprockets
10 Evon’s appreciation Token
10 Mystic Forge Stone
10 Mystic Crystal

Black Lion Salvage Kit:
1 Mystic Salvage Kit
1 Evon’s appreciation Token
10 Mystic Forge Stone
10 Mystic Crystal

Permanent Bank Access (Acc. Bound):
25 Bank Access Expresses
20 Evon’s appreciation Token
10 Mystic Forge Stone
10 Mystic Crystal

Pro:
- No one would be angy anymore
- No more tickets to work on (now and on further upgrades like “shared mining tools”)
- ppl would buy things to get tokens if you could get things that are not in the shop (e.g. Bank Access)
- small Material / Forgestone / Crystal Sink

Con:
- Takes a bit work to implement

Not sure where I might have heard that idea before….lol

Put four of any combination of the following into the forge to get the permanent bank express item:

copper fed salvage o matic
silver fed salvage o matic
royal terrace pass
air ship pass

There may be others, but instead of throwing them out or banking them forever, this would make me one very happy customer.

Anyways thanks for putting in more effort on the idea than I did

Why support The guys that have The luxury items in use since years now?

Just stuff that can all use and not The ones that Q.Q now cause of The now (!)
useless items They used for ages

Just sell it at gem store

Well for one, those guys with the “luxury items” are also known as veterans and should IMO get something back for the time and or money they have invested into the game.

I don’t care if they bring it into the store, but I know I won’t buy it simply because the bait and switch has already been performed on many of us!

I am not sure, as others are in the thread about the refund policy. However, as someone has bought gems every week to support a game I like and still do I will now rethink my buying gems because if they had these before hand I would not need the multiple tools or the salvage kits I spent my real life money on. I honestly feel like I got screwed over on this deal and be more careful in the future.

At this point I would rather they just scrap the gold <> gems model myself. If there is so much gold in the economy that they need to create such a huge sink, It would be better for the overall health of the game to just kill the exchange IMO.

And if this isn’t just another sink, could you please stop screwing over your veteran customers and replace the guy in charge of this garbage; thanks!

This might seem oddly starstruck but…

Gaile quoted one of my posts!

TBH it is not that difficult to get a dev response on these forums. You just need to compliment them on the great job they are doing on something.

And when I find they are going in a direction I like, I am sure I will get a response too, but I am not holding my breath till that time comes!

Now that I have had some time to think on this I will say the following:

It is a good idea, but VERY poorly implemented.

IF they had released this at the start of the game there would be no problem at all with the player base. Simply because they could have bought them, and just one of each of the “special items” and been done with it. There are only two ways I can see for them to release it now and keep the customer happy.

1) They didn’t have the tech at the time to make an account bound slot, so they should reimburse everyone that bought spare items now that they have it. Customer happy!
2) They had the tech but decided if they waited to release it until the players bought many of the special items they would make some temporary cash that would be reimbursed at a later date. Again customer happy!

They however choose to go with a third option and that was having an arbitrary cutoff timer in place so as to make themselves seem greedy in the eyes of the customer thus making them unhappy.

You can have my spare one if you, unlike ANET, are willing to reimburse me my 1000 gems so I can buy the account bound slot.

Unfortunately though that is not an option!

My male cat loves rubbing himself against my leg when I get home from work and I’m a guy. And Charrs are a cat race.

On second thought that is probably not what you were asking.

nevermind

IF I get my gems back for the purchase of the extra royal pass and the 4 extra salvage kits I will buy the set of 5, and even pocket the difference . If not I’ll just continue doing as I have been doing (when I play that is) and forget it exists.

Anti-Addiction Pop-up

Typical ANet logic. Put everything on timers then punish those that have to wait to do timed events.

I have never seen the popups myself, but I would not be surprised if it is in the game.

How could you possibly see any popups at all when you’re sitting out the game?

I still do my daily, updates and check to see if things are changing. Thanks for keeping an eye on me though, the wife will be happy to know that when I kick it, someone else will notice!
